Why Does Belgium Have Such Angry Muslims?

In the comments at Marginal Revolution, commenter dux.ie looks at PISA scores for natives, first generation immigrants, and second generation immigrants:

dux.ie November 17, 2015 at 8:30 pm

There is another angle to be considered. The second gen immigrants are born locally and many such as the paper cited used the equality of outcomes as the benchmark for comparison whereas it should be the equality of opportunities depending on ability. Although religion could have some effects, the ability gap is much more relevant for the general population. The religion effect cannot equally explains the extra radicalization in Belgium. The second gen immigrants in Belgium are performing even worse than that for the first gen. There is little doubt that Belgium produces the most radical second gen immigrants as it is the place where the gap is the highest and the competition is the strongest, i.e. from the OECD PISA scores converted to equivalent IQ scores,

Gap, Country, IQ1stGenImm, IQ2ndGenImm, IQnative

-11.9 Belgium 89.4 86.7 98.6

-10.5 Denmark 84.5 86.4 96.9

-10.46875 Netherlands 87.03125 88.59375 99.0625

-8.28125 France 85.78125 90.78125 99.0625

-7.65625 England 96.875 92.34375 100.0

-7.34375 Austria 89.21875 90.9375 98.28125

-6.5625 Norway 87.96875 91.25 97.8125

-6.40625 Portugal 92.5 90.0 96.40625

-6.25 Germany 90.625 92.5 98.75

-5.625 Sweden 83.4375 90.3125 95.9375

-3.90625 Spain 87.03125 89.84375 93.75

-3.59375 Italy 88.75 95.3125 98.90625

-1.71875 UnitedStates 94.375 96.875 98.59375

It is interesting to note that the above ranking roughly corresponds to that for the Per Capita Foreign Fighter Statistics http://qz.com/551371/brussels-where-e500-buys-a-gun-in-30-minutes-has-become-europes-jihadi-capital/

IQs are way too high for immigrants; 1st generation turks have a 18 point lower IQ than the native population in Germany; 2nd generation turks are even 3 points below the 1st. See Volkmar Weiss: Die Intelligenz und ihre Feinde ("Intelligence and its Enemies: Rise and Fall of Industrial Society"; sort of the german version of the "Bell Curve", though by a real scientist who works in this field). There are now 20 million muslims alone in Germany: it is said that there are only ~7 million young germans (people up to 30), the rest (~30 million) is over 30. There are many mixed-race `people' (read: bastards) as well. Oh, (low IQ) indians are numerous, too.

Germany is done for, let's nuke it.

America is lucky to have gotten Mexicans. They're civilized or civilizable and adaptable to first world conditions. They don't rebel against any kind of reasonable system but would rather join it and would rather work than collect welfare.

Mexicans are about 20 IQ points ahead of Somalians and Pakis Afghans. And they're about ten ahead of Syrians, Iraquis, Egyptians, Moroccans, Algerians, and Jordanians. About the same as Lebanese or Turks. Any European country would give its eyeteeth to get such good migrants in trade for the ones it has.

Obama will demagogue the shit out of whatever he can get away with, with the help of the mass media. I never liked or voted Obama but he was fairly forthright in his first term. Now during Obama's end times he is down to schoolyard taunting and racial/ethnic demagoguery. Thankfully Bad Vlad has his number and puts him in his place from time to time.

The real Obama is the one you see now. A cheap trans-racial demagogue. We can't be done with him soon enough. In twelve months (election) his status will be lame duck. And with some good luck President Donald Trump will undo all his destructive executive orders.

Most of the Belgian muslims come from Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco - countries that are majority black. The black race has the lowest i.q. The original North Africans were Caucasians. But when Islam took over and introduced polygamy and concubinage with the slave trade, it ruined the original peoples. The Kaybila of Algeria are a Caucasian example that managed to preserve its racial group. In England the Pakistani Muslims are racially the same as the Hindu Indians. The only difference is religion. But both Indian Hindus and Pakistani Muslims have low i.q.s because they are Asiatic. Indian and Pakistani iq. is 83. Since these non-white males are inferior to the European/Caucasian males (and females), this sets up the resentment that we are seeing.

My guess is that President Trump will probably break with that tradition and out as many people as he needs to be effective. Not only has he vowed to reverse Obama’s executive actions on immigration but my guess is that he could do 100 x the damage by dripping out all the internal memos and data Barry has been concealing. I have a feeling that if a Republican is elected, every computer in Washington D.C. will be flattened and wiped clean.

Brussels is majority French speaking, and more importantly is the EU headquarters. It may be the most globalist part of the planet, recalling the Dinkins era in NYC, crime-wise.
    , @BB753
Flemish people are different from the Dutch. For starters, most elite Dutchmen are nominally protestant, while Flanders is 100% catholic. The southern part of the Netherlands is catholic as well.
Antwerp in Belgium is where the money is. You're right that the Walloon area
(where French and a dialect of French are spoken) lags behind in economic development.
As for Brussels, it lies in the Flemish speaking part of the country, and acts both as the capital of Flanders and capital of the country at large, Belgium. Although a very large majority of its inhabitants speak standard French, they're mostly ethnically Flemish, or used to be. And Brussels does pretty well economically.
To the trained eye and ear, it's nearly impossible to confuse Dutchmen from Holland, the Lowlands, and Flemings. As a rule of thumb, Dutchmen are both taller and blonder than Flemings, and also friendlier. Two different people, with mutually unintelligible dialects unless Flemings use standard Dutch ( algemeen beschaafd nederlands) which they rarely do. Of course, near the border, it's more difficult to tell.
    , @Hibernian
Belgium is the remnant of the foemer Spanish Netherlands after the Protestant Dutch became independent. The Napoleonic Wars had something to do with it too, I think.
    , @Triumph104
This YouTube channel has a video series called "Do You Speak Belgium?" in which people in Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels give their opinions on each other.

Wallonia is the rust belt of Belgium and receives the largest share of welfare even though they have a smaller population than Flanders. Most Flemish are bilingual and annoyed that most of the Walloons can't speak Dutch. They each have separate newspapers, magazines, and TV stations, not much interaction. The Flemish "rep" their villages pretty hard and still speak centuries old dialects or words specific only to that village.

    https://www.youtube.com/user/poppyslocum/videos

I wanted to add that there is lots of crime in Brussels. People around the EU headquarters are always getting robbed, apparently by immigrants. Foreigners are required to carry their passports so those are always getting stolen.

  25. This woman Eliana Bennador followed me on Twitter where I practice being a Sh#tlord. I followed her back and she has a most interesting resume and blog. One article written about her said this,

“Meet Eleana Benador, the Peruvian-born publicist for Perle, Woolsey, Michael Ledeen, Frank Gaffney and a dozen other prominent neo-conservatives whose hawkish opinions proved very hard to avoid for anyone who watched news talk shows or read the op-ed pages of major newspapers over the past 20 months. ”

“Also found among her client list are other major war-boosters, including former New York Times executive editor and now New York Daily News columnist, A M Rosenthal; Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer; the Council on Foreign Relations’ resident imperialist, Max Boot; and Victor Davis Hanson, a blood-and-guts classicist and one of Vice President Dick Cheney’s favorite dinner guests. ”

I link to one post actually from the day before Paris.

SWEDISH LOVING BAND-AID FOR MUSLIM MIGRANTS

    http://elianabenador.com/2015/11/benador-swedish-loving-band-aid-for-muslim-migrants/#more-1995

The post had the follow statement:

“An important detail is that only those coming from the lower levels of the Muslim society would go all the way to the north of the planet, where it is terribly cold in the winter, with temperatures far below, from below zero.”

She was referring to Sweden, but I’m sure Belgium is no party either. I note that Belgium has some the cheapest real estate in W Europe, so I take that as a sign it lags other places economically so maybe the benefits aren’t so great. The point she was making is the smarter, better class of Muslim stays further south, like Monaco, a sunny place for shady Muslims.

But anyway this led to what I feel was a weirdly coincidental tweet on the morning of Nov 13. I sent one to hbdchick that asked “Given polygamy and inbreeding over generations, how deleterious and dysfunctional would the genes of the lowest level of ME male castoffs be?”

Her response was “Is this a rhetorical question?”

So my question about Belgium’s Islamic population is “where did they come from?”

In today’s post Eliana is calling for international uprising against western liberal elites to fight Islam before it’s too late. She quotes Churchill.

    “If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed;

    if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly;

you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival.

There may even be a worse case.

You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

Missouri and Montana have Democratic governors while NJ/MA/MD all have Republican governors.

The last I heard 26 of the 32 governors that are Republican have said no. The other six need to get on board real quick. This needs to be unanimous. It will be a huge victory of conservatives finally, in some nominal way, standing up to the PC police.

It is not an accident that North Africans are more alienated than other Muslim immigrants, or that barely literate Anatolians do far worse than educated urban types from Istanbul. Islam is dangerous because it gives low IQ immigrants an alternative culture to rally around that Christianity, nominally still a mainstream religion, doesn’t. That is why Islam is becoming increasingly attractive to alienated low IQ whites in Europe. IQ is why the sudden Syrian influx is also less dangerous to Europe over the long term than the constant trickle of Moroccans, Algerians, Anatolian Turks, and Sub-Saharan Africans.

IQ is more important than religion. For the most part Iranian immigrants, who tend to be educated and higher IQ, integrate very well into Western countries. High IQ Turks also do very well. It is not an accident that North Africans are more alienated than other Muslim immigrants, or that barely literate Anatolians do far worse than educated urban types from Istanbul. Islam is dangerous because it gives low IQ immigrants an alternative culture to rally around that Christianity, nominally still a mainstream religion, doesn't.

Whats wrong with Anatolian Turks? Aren’t they descendants of the Byzantines and the Greeks?

  33. There are three categories of immigrants in Belgium.

The top category are first world immigrants that work for the various international institutions — although everyone forgets about these people and they may not sometimes even be considered immigrants yet they are. The children of these 1st world immigrants are typically exceptionally bright and do very well — certainly well above the Belgian average.

Next you have Africans. Generally Africans in Belgium come from educated backgrounds — typically they are college students who end up not returning to the Congo. Their children do struggle however – -I heard of one school where 90% of the African students repeated 2nd grade. This was a elite school however so in regular schools they may do better. No doubt they drag down the numbers.

The largest group are North Africans. This is very mixed with a certain percentage being high achievers but the majority being slackers who underachieve. They are also dragging the numbers down.

Recently the elite schools in Belgium have attempted to integrate by pushing something called “mixité sociale” which is actually quite bizzare. In theory this means a mix of social classes. The problem is that Belgian secondary schools are explicitly divided into technical schools that generally serve the working classes by preparing them to be qualified or nearly qualified for a job when they graduate, and the elite secondary schools which generally prepare the bourgeoisie for university. Of course there are no distinct class barriers, and all these schools are free, but still 90% of the time people attend the school suited for their social class.

The true goal is to get more blacks and Muslims into the elite schools but the politicians cannot (yet) say this outright. So now there are indeed around 10-20% of blacks and Muslims in the elite schools and they do tend to struggle. Bright Belgians and some 1st world immigrants concentrate in for example the ancient Greek / Latin line which is 100% free of blacks and Muslims but is very challenging indeed.

Interestingly the small Asian community have selected one rather mediocre school to congregate in. They are very high achievers but for some reason avoid the known elite schools. They feel it is better to be in numbers among their own and in any case their children achieve regardless of the institution.

France and Germany just barely ahead of the United States. I know this is just one test, but it’s a very large test, which is usually assumed to be a good way to nullify the chances of an outlier ruining the data.

The "IQs" are based on the PISA exam, which is a problem for Sweden.

The quality of Swedish schools has decreased rapidly in the last 10 years. Sweden has had the biggest drop in PISA scores. They adopted a progressive curriculum that is group and project-based rather than traditional lectures. Students can have cell phones in class and usually arrive late. Teachers are poorly paid and the profession is not respected. Sweden now has school choice so in order to attract students schools grade leniently because grades are how Swedes are admitted to university.

Tino Sanandaji has written a few articles on the Swedish school system. He immigrated to Sweden from Iran at age 9. He has a master's from a Swedish university and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

Haha, Obama uses the same shabby techniques that leftist Unz trolls do. “You guys are afraid of the press (but blacks complain about media coverage, and they’re so brave).” “You guys are scared of 3 year old orphans (but Jews who huddle in Apartheid Israel and strictly control their borders are brave; Chinese, Indians, Japanese, Africans, Asians…everybody else strictly controls their borders, and they’re brave brave brave”).

It’s so thin it’s transparent. Leftism is run by two-bit carney barkers.

Of course they ignore the fact that over 50% of migrants to Europe were military aged men.

But that’s a feature, not a bug, right? Obama and his fellow two-bit carney barkers probably get a kick out of it.

Funniest thing I’ve heard yet about Obama’s plans for his last year: he wants to go for gun control again. Lol, he wants to get his ass kicked again before he slinks out of the White House.

Sorry I didn’t type “OT” in front of my last comment. I don’t mean to hijack the thread or break protocol.

Isn't Belgium a confederation of an upscale group of Dutchmen and a downscale group of Frenchmen (i.e. the Belgian Dutch are better than the Dutch Dutch while the Belgian French are worse than the French French)? I could imagine that the Muslim immigrants might be likely to gravity toward the French areas because of language and cultural factors which might put them on a relatively downward trajectory.

    Just spitballin'.

Flemish people are different from the Dutch. For starters, most elite Dutchmen are nominally protestant, while Flanders is 100% catholic. The southern part of the Netherlands is catholic as well.
Antwerp in Belgium is where the money is. You’re right that the Walloon area
(where French and a dialect of French are spoken) lags behind in economic development.
As for Brussels, it lies in the Flemish speaking part of the country, and acts both as the capital of Flanders and capital of the country at large, Belgium. Although a very large majority of its inhabitants speak standard French, they’re mostly ethnically Flemish, or used to be. And Brussels does pretty well economically.
To the trained eye and ear, it’s nearly impossible to confuse Dutchmen from Holland, the Lowlands, and Flemings. As a rule of thumb, Dutchmen are both taller and blonder than Flemings, and also friendlier. Two different people, with mutually unintelligible dialects unless Flemings use standard Dutch ( algemeen beschaafd nederlands) which they rarely do. Of course, near the border, it’s more difficult to tell.

It’s hard to believe that native Portuguese have a higher average IQ than Swedes. Also, PISA scores for Spain are abnormally low, probably due to a dysfunctional progressive school system.

"Islam is what they all have in common, oh yeah most of them are also morons. " They also have black ancestry.

“both Indian Hindus and Pakistani Muslims have low i.q.s because they are Asiatic”

It may just be selection, but the (Indian) Hindus and Muslims I’ve worked with in IT are reasonably switched on. Has caste got anything to do with it? Anyone done the tests? I’d assume Brahmins would have higher average IQ than Dalits, but I don’t know.

Yes, caste does have something to do with it. The lighter skinned a person, the higher the iq. Since Indians and Pakis are only religiously different, this racial aspect would apply. Euro-mestizos in Latin America have high i.q.s Light-skinned blacks are smarter than dark blacks (because of white or Asian infusion). Dalits are very dark and are the untouchables. Brahmins are the highest and lightest caste in Indian

This woman Eliana Bennador followed me on Twitter where I practice being a Sh#tlord. I followed her back and she has a most interesting resume and blog. One article written about her said this,

"Meet Eleana Benador, the Peruvian-born publicist for Perle, Woolsey, Michael Ledeen, Frank Gaffney and a dozen other prominent neo-conservatives whose hawkish opinions proved very hard to avoid for anyone who watched news talk shows or read the op-ed pages of major newspapers over the past 20 months. "

"Also found among her client list are other major war-boosters, including former New York Times executive editor and now New York Daily News columnist, A M Rosenthal; Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer; the Council on Foreign Relations' resident imperialist, Max Boot; and Victor Davis Hanson, a blood-and-guts classicist and one of Vice President Dick Cheney's favorite dinner guests. "

I link to one post actually from the day before Paris.

SWEDISH LOVING BAND-AID FOR MUSLIM MIGRANTS
    http://elianabenador.com/2015/11/benador-swedish-loving-band-aid-for-muslim-migrants/#more-1995

The post had the follow statement:

"An important detail is that only those coming from the lower levels of the Muslim society would go all the way to the north of the planet, where it is terribly cold in the winter, with temperatures far below, from below zero."

She was referring to Sweden, but I'm sure Belgium is no party either. I note that Belgium has some the cheapest real estate in W Europe, so I take that as a sign it lags other places economically so maybe the benefits aren't so great. The point she was making is the smarter, better class of Muslim stays further south, like Monaco, a sunny place for shady Muslims.

But anyway this led to what I feel was a weirdly coincidental tweet on the morning of Nov 13. I sent one to hbdchick that asked "Given polygamy and inbreeding over generations, how deleterious and dysfunctional would the genes of the lowest level of ME male castoffs be?"

Her response was "Is this a rhetorical question?"

So my question about Belgium's Islamic population is "where did they come from?"

In today's post Eliana is calling for international uprising against western liberal elites to fight Islam before it's too late. She quotes Churchill.

    “If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed;

    if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly;

you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival.

There may even be a worse case.

You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

Really? Turks in Turkey are doing a lot better than that. They do fine on international tests and have a lot of IMO and IxO champs.

They don't have to fit in, as they have their own neighbourhoods. Being of peasant stock, they don't do well in school. And they have the usual Arab attitude of rudeness and entitlement. Working for kaffirs seem to be below them. They'd rather run their own business, legal or not. Muslims in Europe carry huge chips on their shoulders. They really believe they have a God-given right to run things and own everything since they follow the "true religion". If you ask me, they should ban Islam as a harmful sect.

This YouTube channel has a video series called “Do You Speak Belgium?” in which people in Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels give their opinions on each other.

Wallonia is the rust belt of Belgium and receives the largest share of welfare even though they have a smaller population than Flanders. Most Flemish are bilingual and annoyed that most of the Walloons can’t speak Dutch. They each have separate newspapers, magazines, and TV stations, not much interaction. The Flemish “rep” their villages pretty hard and still speak centuries old dialects or words specific only to that village.

I wanted to add that there is lots of crime in Brussels. People around the EU headquarters are always getting robbed, apparently by immigrants. Foreigners are required to carry their passports so those are always getting stolen.

Honestly I'm not surprised that the Muslims in Europe have low IQ's. But wow, are the IQ's seriously that low for the natives? Sweden is down to 96 now? France and Germany just barely ahead of the United States. I know this is just one test, but it's a very large test, which is usually assumed to be a good way to nullify the chances of an outlier ruining the data.

The “IQs” are based on the PISA exam, which is a problem for Sweden.

He has a master’s from a Swedish university and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

"both Indian Hindus and Pakistani Muslims have low i.q.s because they are Asiatic"

It may just be selection, but the (Indian) Hindus and Muslims I've worked with in IT are reasonably switched on. Has caste got anything to do with it? Anyone done the tests? I'd assume Brahmins would have higher average IQ than Dalits, but I don't know.

    Riffian Berbers

    Regions with significant populations
    Morocco ~ 5.000.000
    France 379,952
    Netherlands 314,517
    Belgium 226,095
    Germany 120,000
    [Wikipedia]

“[...] Blood feuds, however, were endemic, and a major contributor to maintaining a viably small population. Unique to Morocco, the Riffian villages are scattered communities, their houses hedged and set apart, and where each family maintained a pillbox tower to spy on and fight off enemies.” – The Rough Guide to Morocco

Riffian Berbers perhaps more violent and clannish than some other Muslim migrant populations?

You’ve nailed it perfectly. They (Arabs ) and Muslims from the Maghreb, West and South Asia exhibit this entitled attitude that Islam must rule. South East Asian Muslim living in the West are generally passive compared to these West Eurasian and North African Muslims.

Whats wrong with Anatolian Turks? Aren't they descendants of the Byzantines and the Greeks?

Anatolian Turks are Kurds and whatver groups were there before the Turkic Mongoloid invaders rampaged the area. They aren’t all or mostly Greeks . Kurds are more rural and mountain folk with strong ethnic/tribal identity.

OT: Back to France. Having visited Paris many times, I was
struck by the number of magazines devoted to African themes
on display at the inexpensive Monoprix department
stores one finds in every part of town (in addition to a large
number of magazines devoted to philosophy!). Clearly, the
French are proud of their civilizing mission in Africa, and of
the fact that French is the official language in so many African
countries (with high birthrates), as Houellebecq points out
    in Submission.

As the French see it, they are primarily competing with les
Anglo-Saxons: 62 million English and 100 million German
speakers. They sort of look to the 200 million Russian
speakers (Russia, Russian speakers in Ukraine, etc) as a
counterbalance to les Anglo-Saxons but with TFR (total
fertility rate) of only 1.99, they need the immigrants to
effectively compete with Germany (whose TFR is a pitiful
1.36), and where are they going to get them if not Africa and
    the Middle East.

If you have to import babies, then as Houellebecq points
out, "Europe had reached a point of such putrid decomposition
that it could no longer save itself." The same, of course, could
be said of the below-replacement TFRs for white Americans.
It seems the West needs a new energizing philosophy of life to raise
    its TFRs above 2.1.

Your post is appalling. What a cave in by the French at least in Paris. I was stuck watching the 6PM PBS newshour after the mass killing and two of the six Parisians they interviewed were black. No wonder Ta-Nesi Coats moved there for a year. He feels right at home. (he took his family with him)

The second generation doing worse than the first (or at least getting into far more trouble) is probably seen in many places. Offhand I can think of at least four groups:

    1. Black Americans coming North from the South (some cohorts and SES groups)

    2. Muslims in Europe (see Leiken’s research)

    3. Some Hispanics in the USA (Heather MacDonald and Victor Davis Hanson book said family formation and welfare dependency was much worse, for example)

    4. Perhaps this last: Lower class NAM minority immigrants to the USA, generally. (Elliot Currie mentioned this somewhere in _The reckoning_ about twenty years ago). You could also combine with Ogbu’s work on “caste like” versus immigrant versus sectarian minorities (native Blacks versus Korean immigrants versus Amish).

I recall Luther Tweeten (Ag economist) mentioning this for Blacks coming north, summarizing the research. It’s hinted at also in popular ethnographies on the topic. Rural life is different generally speaking, than life in the big city.

IQ is a valid topic for research, but no need to stress it unduely. Just as salient is (off the top of my head)

    1. shift from shame to guilt based social control in conditions of greater anonymity

    2. labor market factors (minimum wages, overemphasis on “school first, work eventually in the future” but meanwhile endless sitting in the classroom)

    3. adverse incentives from welfare payments

    4. amplification of bad behavioral tendencies from social norms in poor neighborhoods, mediated by peer groups (see Judith Rich Harris for theoretical work generally)

    5. In Europe, presumably the “parallel societies” with self-appointed Islamist “leaders” and the Islamist flabor of Islam.

Neighborhood territorialism -- If you move to a new country for a job at 25, you probably won't join a youth street gang. But your son will grow up in the new neighborhood and start to feel territorial about the streets at around age 13.
