Illustrator Shepard Fairey made a lot of money off his blue-and-red Obama Worship posters eight years ago.

So now he’s back to protest the inauguration of Trump with an example of what seems to be a growing Thing on the white left: Orientalist hijab fetishism.

Fairey, who (in case you are wondering) isn’t, has been promoting better relations with Muslims with a series of illustrations explaining that you Muslims will appreciate learning that us liberal white guys can’t stop fantasizing about how hot your womenfolk must be under those tents they wear.

Here’s an earlier series from Fairey in the same Midnight at the Oasis genre:

This will no doubt end well.

Women wearing cover or veils has a long history that is not exclusive to Islam. It probably was a way for women to protect themselves in the ancient world, especially going out in public.
Christianity also has some concept of this: 1 Cor 11:2–16.

Traditional Catholic women still do wear veils to Mass, although I doubt those that don't would be punished under Canon law.

This fool Shepard Fairey is a Liberal so of course he sees George W. Bush as a warmonger, but he will give Barack Hussein Obama a pass. You see Anon since you don't know a damn about how the Left operates, they are only anti-war when there is a Republican president. Code Pink has been awfully silent in the last 8 years. They were only making noise when W. was president. But expect Code Pink to come out of their 8 year hibernation when Republican Donald J. Trump starts bombing ISIS.

Both Lennon and Jesus were martyrs. Lennon died to give mutual hope to every yellow fever suffering white beta male that he too can find a sexually forward and controlling third tier waifu for the win wins.

On this subject - race mixers of both sexes are another member group of the coalition of the fringes. The "Chew Soap" artist will probably have 3/4 white kids, as my guess. That's why he's a Dem I would guess, and why the left promotes that behavior, among divorce etc. Derb is the exception that proves the rule.

Reaching out to minorities is a loser for the right - except in the case of US-born kids of Asian descent. Most of them want to be American and most of them are fine people, the kind you'd want for your neighbors. It'd only take a few tweaks - such as coming out publicly against affirmative action on the grounds that it discriminates against Asian-Americans - and they'd go GOP forever.

    Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

    Just google historical nuns headdress.
    , @Thin-Skinned Masta-Beta
Modern feminists who suffer the inequality of "Beauty & Youth Privilege" would also be well served by wearing veils. Level the playing field for the old and ugly so their contributions get a fair hearing instead of all the attention going to the competition of perhaps less talented and diligent fair maidens.
    , @Anon
    I don't mean that.

I mean.. suppose Evangelicals required their women to wear veils and told their girls to NOT act like whores.
    , @anon
Yeah but that wasn't the question.

The question was how would progs react to it - and the answer is in a hypocritical way.
  10. I know some middle eastern ‘liberals’ and they cannot stand how pro-Islam CNN, MSM, and white liberals are. One said to me : “How would they react if I was supporting the Christian right here? ”

White liberals almost delight in their own stupidity.

    BTW his wife looks oriental.

yeah - muslims who immigrated to get away from all that must get depressed that it's following them
  11. “This will no doubt end well.”

What are the chances Fairey will be alive two years from now?

  12. Indeed, the sudden left-wing obsession with protecting the hijab is a startling reversal from what the left adopted shortly after the Bolshevik Revolution when they realized what tolerance for Islam in the ‘Stan republics meant in practice. As early as 2000, old-guard leftist Libération ! could publish an article citing the frustration of young women of Maghrebian extraction in suburban Paris ghettos with the men who pressured them to cover up and the elder women who obliged, thereby reinforcing the practice. The girls they interviewed wanted more than anything to be just like modern French teenagers. The title (in French) was a direct quote from one such girl: “Their veils, I just want to rip them off!”

  13. It’s funny how the sexual polarities of “progressivism” have flipped in a generation. 60’s radicalism was so masculinist in thought and language (struggle, revolution, victory of the people, up against the wall motherf…) that you had even delicate, 5’5″ girls running around making bombs, robbing banks, massacring minor glitterati and writing the word “pigs” in their blood on the wall.

Now it’s the opposite and supposedly straight white male graphic artists are incorporating female daily affirmation sloganeering into their work, and don’t get me started on all the even more estrogen-soaked crap I see come across my Facebook crawl from “male” friends and friends of friends- “love trumps hate”, “we are bigger than our fears”, “a story of love and bravery…”, etc, etc. Obama himself (“the audacity of hope”) is really only a stone’s throw away himself from these rolling fields of pansy and lillac.

    • Agree: Travis

progressives still have their masculine, violent side, they only have outsourced it to BLM etc.
    , @Jay Fink
I never cease to be amazed how different politically my Facebook friends are compared to my twitter followers. My Twitter people are pro-Trump, alt right, anti-establishment and anti-Islam. My Facebook friends are absolutely horrified about Trump and have a strong, obsessive hatred towards him. They post all kinds of PC messages including Pro-Islam.

The difference is I picked who I follow on Twitter. I don't know any of them personally but they are the kind of people I wish I knew in real life. My Facebook friends are all people I know or have known in my life. Many never discussed politics when I knew them but have all turned out to be flaming liberals. This is depressing. I wish I attracted people into my life who are more like minded.
  14. There is nothing more triggering that seeing women in hijabs for me. Weren’t there stories of Muslim women ripping them off when they left their home country airspaces on planes?

Now I visualize their wearers wearing them as a sense of pride in the land of the infidel (usually while driving erratically in their minivans in Northern Virginia). Hard not for me to empathize with the French laws that ban them. This isn’t part of our culture, GTFOH if you’re gonna wear that shit.

That’s why Fairey’s work is even more enraging to me.

  16. The left is tolerant of Islamic intolerance and social repression because its adherents are mostly brown people, and veneration of non-whites trumps everything, even cultural practices that normally would be denounced in the strongest possible terms if they were proposed by white Christians.

"Traditional Catholic women still do wear veils to Mass,"

Traditional Catholic women don't wear veils just to go pick up milk at their nearby local 7 Eleven like Muslim women do.

    , @Buffalo Joe
Hapalong, Catholic women did not cover their faces at Mass with a veil, but often wore a head covering called a Mantilla. Nuns almost always wore a head covering, but not a veil.
  18. Not to nitpick, but hijab doesn’t refer to any particular article of clothing, but rather the general practice of separation of the sexes. Anyway, I wonder why Muslim women are the biggest hate-hoaxers, perhaps cognitive dissonance resulting from making a “religion” that is based on their own subjugation (and that of infidels) into a symbol of victimhood?

    • Replies: @Altai
Young Muslim women, particularly foreigners, are the most paranoid people you'll meet in the West. They're much more deeply anxious of violence from random men on the street, even ones no Westerner would consider a threat. This is amped up to the extreme for wealthy student FOBs from the gulf who likely have had little to no interaction with strange males. Keep in mind the world they live in, either the MSM of their hosts talking endlessly about Islamophobia, violent racist white men on TV dramas and their own media from home.

Being a lot shorter on average might have a lot to do with it too.
, @Mark Spahn (West Seneca, NY)

That's funny considering that Amazon freaked out when the AR appropriated the Man in the High Castle imagery of happy, healthy white homeowners in Nazi regalia and turned it against them.

  23. I’m noticing that Soros, et al. aren’t giving up on the attempt to ethnically cleanse white gentiles even post-Trump, but instead are doubling down and going to guerrilla warfare—we even had Rep. John Lewis (on Friday) openly legitimize violence/assassination against Trump when he declared his election “not legitimate.”

This is part of that guerrilla campaign—making Islam “cooler”/”sexier” than Western culture.

And given the CIA and FBI are converged traitors and on Soros’s payroll/side….

It’s a sign of desperation, but desperate people can do horrific, desperate things.

(What the non-Left needs is, basically, a series of Not Without My Daughter-type films showing the horrors of modern Islamic rule. But we still don’t have enough of a foothold in the media centers, where they control distribution. Again, as Face-to-Face has said, Trump needs to use his Anti-Trust division against the studios and break them up, and also use his money-laundering divisions to take down Leftist foundations funded by Soros and his friends as being hostile to America).

    • Replies: @Escher

What you say about Soros & Deep State rings true, but what is more alarming is how facile and gullible so many rank & file voters, esp Boomers are on this issue.
It seems they have the mental acuity of an 18 yr old freshman with 1 sociology course & some trips to a few ethnic restaurants to provide their worldview.
We know the Narrative overlords will pedestalize & gently coddle what they perceive as the underdog cultures of the world, with their ulterior motives of a one party state.
But the rank & file, they are like college kids singing this Human League song while averting their eyes to the "Icky" barbarism of Islam-

Where I live, I don't see that many white-Asian couplings. And the ones that do happen are among Jews. Fairey's not Jewish, but he's a Southerner so there may be Southern issues he's dealing with.

With his Obummer worship, his 2 Asian daughters will probably wind up marrying blacks.

  29. That graphic is an outrageous example of cultural appropriation!

  30. It’s disgusting the way the left is so obsessed with the evils of black slavery in the US while seeming to think it’s just fine the way the Muslim world enslaves its women. The hijab may as well be shackles and a slave collar. It’s as voluntary as those were.

  31. Fairey’s poster women are attractive but part of that is the make up at the the images’ eyes. Do women in Afghanistan, for instance, wear visible make up? Lingerie is famously sexy because it barely hides the most desirable parts of a woman. Burkas are more like a full length trash bag. Now I need a cold shower.

One often sees heavily made up women wearing the hijab, a good example of having one's cake and eating it. I doubt there was much by the way of cosmetics in 6th century Arabia, but the Prophet seems to have taken a dim view of it:

I reckon that a good number of the care bears on the left are well aware of the havoc the U.S. (and Nato) have wreaked on Muslim lands and therefore feel guilty (or at least ambivalent) about it. This gets translated in the hands of liberal Good White Women into compassionate feelz for the poor “refugees” and the notion that it is only “fair” that the West take in a high proportion of those running away from the havoc.

This seemed to be Merkel’s stance (alternating between wide open arms and hand-wringing), and Hillary gave every indication she would caress an American version of Merkel’s boner as soon as she possibly could.

While the classic defense of U.S. intervention in Afghanistan, etc. was that we were trying to promote democracy and better the position of women, not a lot of bettering came out of that. So, the prog/feminist fallback is to support Muslim women as they are, hijab and all. Hence, today’s Google doodle.

As for Fairey, he’s creating a kind of soft porn, playing off the tendency of Muslim women to make-up their eyes to the max, when that is the only feature showing in veiled hijab. If he wants to be really provocative, he could do a series of beautifully made-up women parting their hijab to reveal the vests of bombs underneath. He could probably make a bundle from Saudi art patrons.

  35. @Buffalo Joe
Fairey's poster women are attractive but part of that is the make up at the the images' eyes. Do women in Afghanistan, for instance, wear visible make up? Lingerie is famously sexy because it barely hides the most desirable parts of a woman. Burkas are more like a full length trash bag. Now I need a cold shower.

One often sees heavily made up women wearing the hijab, a good example of having one’s cake and eating it. I doubt there was much by the way of cosmetics in 6th century Arabia, but the Prophet seems to have taken a dim view of it:

It's not uncommon to se a very pretty woman with makeup, in jeans and a nice blouse, with a matching headscarf. That looks more like fashion than oppression--it has little to do with the way women get treated in Afghanistan, say.

I think it's pretty dumb to think like that, as the real problem since the French Revolution or even before seems to be secularism and not Christianity.

Europe is Christian-Hellenic, so if it was something else, it would not be Europe, so what is the point? What do you want to preserve, after all?

Also, Islam is as or more universalist that Christianity, so I very much doubt this will help white people at all. In fact, as it also promotes polygamy, it will probably increase racial mixing.

It's funny how the sexual polarities of "progressivism" have flipped in a generation. 60's radicalism was so masculinist in thought and language (struggle, revolution, victory of the people, up against the wall motherf...) that you had even delicate, 5'5" girls running around making bombs, robbing banks, massacring minor glitterati and writing the word "pigs" in their blood on the wall.

Now it's the opposite and supposedly straight white male graphic artists are incorporating female daily affirmation sloganeering into their work, and don't get me started on all the even more estrogen-soaked crap I see come across my Facebook crawl from "male" friends and friends of friends- "love trumps hate", "we are bigger than our fears", "a story of love and bravery...", etc, etc. Obama himself ("the audacity of hope") is really only a stone's throw away himself from these rolling fields of pansy and lillac.

Not to nitpick, but hijab doesn't refer to any particular article of clothing, but rather the general practice of separation of the sexes. Anyway, I wonder why Muslim women are the biggest hate-hoaxers, perhaps cognitive dissonance resulting from making a "religion" that is based on their own subjugation (and that of infidels) into a symbol of victimhood?

Young Muslim women, particularly foreigners, are the most paranoid people you’ll meet in the West. They’re much more deeply anxious of violence from random men on the street, even ones no Westerner would consider a threat. This is amped up to the extreme for wealthy student FOBs from the gulf who likely have had little to no interaction with strange males. Keep in mind the world they live in, either the MSM of their hosts talking endlessly about Islamophobia, violent racist white men on TV dramas and their own media from home.

Most of them want to be American and most of them are fine people, the kind you’d want for your neighbors. My children are nearly half nonwhite (my wife is Filipina) and are being raised to fit in well among the saner segment of commenters on sites like unz, vdare, and takimag. They are being inculcated with a love of normal America, western civilization, and pride in their white European genetic and cultural heritage. They are learning German at an early age and we will encourage them to learn an additional European language (or Russian) later on. For example, we also do not hide from them the evils of Islam and Judaism and their general incompatibility with our way of life and interests.

I'm not saying our kids are typical of white/Asian Americans, but they're not rare either, and can't be written off.

There are many white/Asian Americans who can and must be reached by our movement, especially those not raised in the sickening anti-white anti-western cauldron of California. There will be millions more, on current trends, and we should welcome them and work with them to remove or exclude Muslims and Africans from our lands, lawfully and peacefully always, and make other salutary albeit controversial changes.

“…About 2 million new cases and between 20 and 50 thousand deaths occur each year. About 200 million people in Asia, Africa, South and Central America, and southern Europe live in areas where the disease is common.”

    sand-fly borne diseases:

“…Worldwide, leishmaniosis is one of the most important vector-borne diseases (besides malaria, lymphatic filariosis and sleeping sickness) and presents as a large variety of disease manifestations…

…sand flies are also known transmitters of the bacteria Bartonella baciliformis, the infectious agent of the Oroya fever, and of the sand fly fever virus that lead to Pappataci fever or sand fly fever. Pappataci fever is a human disease in the Mediterranean basin, in Middle Asia up to India and in South America.”

Disfigurement seems to be a common effect of leishmaniosis, it would be understandable that women would try to avoid that.

Um, in fairness, it isn’t just liberals. I took a college course not that long ago that was inexplicably packed with 10s of every type (blonde, brunette, redheaded, pick your poison). One girl there, who looked Russian (but wasn’t), was about an 8; a family crisis halfway through the semester made her suddenly decide she wanted to be a good Muslim. The hijab instantly took her to an 11.

There is something undeniably sexy about being teased, about being told “nuh uh” and being made to work for it. It’s an element of human sexuality that the bare-it-all, “liberated” feminists couldn’t grasp if their ovaries depended on it. Hair really can be as large an element of a woman’s attractiveness as the more obvious mammaries.

And yes, Orientalist fantasies do come into play. I’ve read Said, I don’t care. The major advantage of swearing off social justice and progressive politics is all the hypocrisy you can avoid by just being open about what you’re after!

The paintings, created by European artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries, depict the Arab World as an exotic and mysterious place of sand, harems and belly dancers, reflecting a long history of Orientalist fantasies which have continued to permeate our contemporary popular culture.”

Imagine being a woman in a two piece bikini seeing an abundance of people in black, head to toe drapes escorted by their handlers/owners on a June day all over sunny and warm Marseilles.

No doubt, now that there are adults in the administration, Muslims will have to start importing serious weapons, like RPGs and parts for IEDs.

Or perhaps they will continue to use the techniques that have worked so well against the cheese-eating surrender monkeys, trucks.

One of the biggest unknowns is when and if this extreme third-worldification of American liberalism will cause a real rift. How many of the boomer grandmothers and chatty cubicle gals at the million women and trans march next weekend will cringe when they hear speeches lauding Muhammad as the "original feminist" and face a constant gauntlet of haranguing about their "white privilege?"

Or will they be too busy taking selfies and standing in line at the soft pretzel truck to notice?

Not only that, but there will be a big rug muncher presence at the march. Film at 11.

  73. @DCThrowback
There is nothing more triggering that seeing women in hijabs for me. Weren't there stories of Muslim women ripping them off when they left their home country airspaces on planes?

Now I visualize their wearers wearing them as a sense of pride in the land of the infidel (usually while driving erratically in their minivans in Northern Virginia). Hard not for me to empathize with the French laws that ban them. This isn't part of our culture, GTFOH if you're gonna wear that shit.

That's why Fairey's work is even more enraging to me.

Agreed. That’s why this video can’t be shared enough. Mock these idiots.

Fair comment, on balance. But most Muslims are not Arabs. Most Muslims are Indonesian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, or Indian -- followed by Turkish, Turkic, Persian, or Egyptian, none of them Arabs either.
  75. @Laugh Track
I reckon that a good number of the care bears on the left are well aware of the havoc the U.S. (and Nato) have wreaked on Muslim lands and therefore feel guilty (or at least ambivalent) about it. This gets translated in the hands of liberal Good White Women into compassionate feelz for the poor "refugees" and the notion that it is only "fair" that the West take in a high proportion of those running away from the havoc.

This seemed to be Merkel's stance (alternating between wide open arms and hand-wringing), and Hillary gave every indication she would caress an American version of Merkel's boner as soon as she possibly could.

While the classic defense of U.S. intervention in Afghanistan, etc. was that we were trying to promote democracy and better the position of women, not a lot of bettering came out of that. So, the prog/feminist fallback is to support Muslim women as they are, hijab and all. Hence, today's Google doodle.

As for Fairey, he's creating a kind of soft porn, playing off the tendency of Muslim women to make-up their eyes to the max, when that is the only feature showing in veiled hijab. If he wants to be really provocative, he could do a series of beautifully made-up women parting their hijab to reveal the vests of bombs underneath. He could probably make a bundle from Saudi art patrons.

“So, the prog/feminist fallback is to support Muslim women as they are, hijab and all. Hence, today’s Google doodle.”

Is that what that is? I thought it was some multi-culti version of “Red Rover”.

  86. @Abe

I don’t know any of them personally but they are the kind of people I wish I knew in real life. My Facebook friends are all people I know or have known in my life. Many never discussed politics when I knew them but have all turned out to be flaming liberals. This is depressing. I wish I attracted people into my life who are more like minded.

It would be quite easy to portray the progressive fetishization of the hijab as Orientalism in action. It's the eroticization of images for the pleasure of the progressive left.

To pick one Said acolyte at random:

"Examples of early Orientalism can be seen in European paintings and photographs and also in images from the World’s Fair in the U.S. in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The paintings, created by European artists of the 19th and early 20th centuries, depict the Arab World as an exotic and mysterious place of sand, harems and belly dancers, reflecting a long history of Orientalist fantasies which have continued to permeate our contemporary popular culture."

19th and early 20th century Orientalism had many strands, but two were

“And there was Valentino as The Sheikh, for people who didn’t do art galleries.”

Definitely Valentino was a huge part of the exoticism so prevalent then. The Sheikh is more than a little risibly overwrought but Valentino had genuine star quality and onscreen magnetism. I was ready to laugh when I first saw The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse so I was surprised to find his vitality and naturalness leapt off the screen. Right. Kareem reverted in 1971, which was the year after Oman officially outlawed slavery.

In Western nations of course the hijab is a statement of aggression and a claim upon public spaces where it is common (but nevertheless alien). It's a way of saying "we've claimed this turf, kuffar, and we're coming for more." Imagine being a woman in a two piece bikini seeing an abundance of people in black, head to toe drapes escorted by their handlers/owners on a June day all over sunny and warm Marseilles.

“In Western nations of course the hijab is a statement of aggression”

Muslim women are the most alien fringe looking demographic out of all the immigrant groups residing in White Western nations. All of a sudden those Chinese, Mexicans, Koreans, Cubans, Viets, Puerto Ricans, Filipinos, Dominicans, etc don’t look so weird anymore.

Women wearing cover or veils has a long history that is not exclusive to Islam. It probably was a way for women to protect themselves in the ancient world, especially going out in public.

    I don’t mean that.

I mean.. suppose Evangelicals required their women to wear veils and told their girls to NOT act like whores.

Those would be great posters for a TV miniseries of Hoellebecq's Submission, set in the United States. Sort of a follow-up to Man in the High Castle. I bet you could get someone at Amazon or Netflix to bite if you had Hoellebecq's sign-off on it and one or two big names.

That’s funny considering that Amazon freaked out when the AR appropriated the Man in the High Castle imagery of happy, healthy white homeowners in Nazi regalia and turned it against them.

I doubt they want to roll the dice on that.

Bullshit. Some WNs are atheist but most are not. Some are Christian Identity or some other kind of Christian, or at least part of Christendom such as FLDS offshoots: some are National Socialists, who are not a religion as such but tend to be pantheistic or panentheistic, like William Pierce's Cosmotheism: some are pagans.

There was a lot of sympathy with Muslims since they were (correctly, but myopically) seen as allies by those with a problem with A) neocons and/or Israel and/or Jews, B) women or C) gays.

The neocons pissed me off so much that I sympathized with the Palestinians, Iranians and Erdoğan for a while, before events made it clear that Muslims never deserve our sympathy, there are things even more important than foreign policy, and neocons and Israel aren't the same thing.

    YES, EXACTLY.

I’m not saying our kids are typical of white/Asian Americans, but they’re not rare either, and can’t be written off.

"It probably was a way for women to protect themselves in the ancient world.."

It might still be. The equivalent of a wearable mosquito net, there's ugly stuff out there (sand flys, etc.):

    Leishmaniasis

"...About 2 million new cases and between 20 and 50 thousand deaths occur each year. About 200 million people in Asia, Africa, South and Central America, and southern Europe live in areas where the disease is common."

    sand-fly borne diseases:

"...Worldwide, leishmaniosis is one of the most important vector-borne diseases (besides malaria, lymphatic filariosis and sleeping sickness) and presents as a large variety of disease manifestations...

...sand flies are also known transmitters of the bacteria Bartonella baciliformis, the infectious agent of the Oroya fever, and of the sand fly fever virus that lead to Pappataci fever or sand fly fever. Pappataci fever is a human disease in the Mediterranean basin, in Middle Asia up to India and in South America."

Disfigurement seems to be a common effect of leishmaniosis, it would be understandable that women would try to avoid that.

Catholic women often wore headscarfs in public up through the 1950s. This might have originally evolved at the start of Christianity from older practice in which married women were identified by wearing headscarfs.

And it couldn't be more obvious that all the angry feminists want nothing more than to be smacked around, covered up and told what to do. If we Aryans are gonna buy into a Semitic desert religion, I definitely vote for Islam. Certainly beats Cuck-tianity. Of course this doesn't mean we need many of the original adherents of Islam in our lands. Say yes to Islam and no to Islamic immigrants.

I think it’s pretty dumb to think like that, as the real problem since the French Revolution or even before seems to be secularism and not Christianity.

  156. @Anonymous
It was huge news that the left stayed the hell away from Trump's convention.

There were many many threats but they backed down from that fight.

Leftists want to run around in their bandanas and go home without a broken jaw or detached retina. But there are many serious defenders of Trump going to DC this week. These are angry men looking for a fight.

Nice sentiment, and trump supporters certainly should fight back hard if attacked or seriously threatened. But what matters most is which side the cops will take. I wouldn’t count on them taking the side of trump supporters, especially if we are talking about DC police or DC national guard here.

Yeah, I hear you. I mean, who doesn't love cousin marriage and clitorectomies? So sexy. And I hear it's done wonders for Arab civilization.

Or is it just the acid-in-the-face honor killings, and being able to bed 9-year-olds ("prophet-style") that turns you on?

You used to see a lot of comments like that on Sailer and similar blogs back when they were still mostly associated with paleocon/libertarian ideology.

There was a lot of sympathy with Muslims since they were (correctly, but myopically) seen as allies by those with a problem with A) neocons and/or Israel and/or Jews, B) women or C) gays.

The neocons pissed me off so much that I sympathized with the Palestinians, Iranians and Erdoğan for a while, before events made it clear that Muslims never deserve our sympathy, there are things even more important than foreign policy, and neocons and Israel aren’t the same thing.

Probably from the second Ron Paul campaign in 2011-2012, until the end of the boomlet when Rand Paul led the nomination polls in 2013, opinion on iSteve leaned pro-Muslim.

Anyway all that went into a sharp decline in Obama’s second term following Merkel’s Boner, Trayvon/Ferguson/BLM, the Yale/campus purges and all the other racial insanity from the left. AndrewR’s comment is like a blast from the past.

We reject mass deportation, family detention, violations of due process and violence against queer and trans migrants. Immigration reform must establish a roadmap to citizenship, and provide equal opportunities and workplace protections for all. Well said, Senator Sessions.

I have a cousin -- on LonGisland, New Yawk no less -- who was a typical leftist, as you describe, for long into adulthood. But she is intelligent and more mature and intellectually honest than most of the left nowadays, because she admitted several years ago that the massive unending immigration is causing needless drought and environmental damage here, especially in California. She voted Trump (yeah, a losing effort in ny, but God bless her) partly because he MIGHT sincerely try to at least reduce the insane pace of the illegal immigration that is expanding our population so quickly. She said it's the first time she has voted republican for prez in her adult life.

Unfortunately, she is in her 50s and it seems the government "schools", universities, and media have created more than one younger person to outvote each decent & reasonable person like her on the other side in the years since we were all young.

I have a friend here in L.A., a MEXICAN-American in his 40s, who also voted trump even though he is not very "conservative" on limited government. One of the first conversations we had after meeting a few years ago, he said, "I want a social safety net and clean air and enough water, and we can't have that if we let people in without end. There's only so much water, only so much money, only so many hospital beds."

Whether that’s due to economic change (people are getting poorer, especially the working class soccer-watching demographic) or

demographic change in the viewers (more Muslims, fewer white Brits) or

demographic change in the players (watching Man Utd vs Man City is like watching Cameroon vs Sierra Leone, fewer players for a native to identify with)

And given the CIA and FBI are converged traitors and on Soros's payroll/side....

It's a sign of desperation, but desperate people can do horrific, desperate things.

(What the non-Left needs is, basically, a series of Not Without My Daughter-type films showing the horrors of modern Islamic rule. But we still don't have enough of a foothold in the media centers, where they control distribution. Again, as Face-to-Face has said, Trump needs to use his Anti-Trust division against the studios and break them up, and also use his money-laundering divisions to take down Leftist foundations funded by Soros and his friends as being hostile to America).

Not a black or Jew thing. Trump has no right to strike back at anyone. Whether it's a Muslim (Khan, the "Gold Star" father from the DNC convention), a white Gentile woman (Meryl Streep / Megyn Kelly), a black man (John Lewis), an evangelical white hispanic (Ted Cruz questioned Trump's wife's morals during the primaries, and Trump questioned Cruz's wife's mental stability), or a lesbian (Rosie O'Donnell), Trump is not allowed to respond to any insult or criticism.

If he does, the MSM will express shock and indignation that Trump had the audacity to attack a Gold Star parent / black / woman / legendary actress / innocent wife / etc. The MSM always leaves out the part about how the other party insulted or criticized Trump first.

I don’t care about the GOP, it can wither and die for all I care, it’s only a name. If Asians or hapa Asians are not fans of the GOP the way it is, we should not kowtow to them until such time as they embrace it, which will probably be never.

No surprise there. I don't know exactly what combination of mental defects are required to place cousin marriage in the "why-not?" category (esp. in light of what it has done to some Muslim societies), but I suppose a higher-than-average incidence of cousin marriages in the family tree would go a long way towards producing them. The genetic manifestation of a self-fulfilling prophecy, though I think vicious circle is a more apt characterization. That being the case, I don't even want to know what you think of brother-sister marriages, but some societies thought they were an even better way of keeping the good genes around. Didn't work out that way, though.

I've got some hot cousins. Why not. Keep them good genes in the family.

“I’ve got some hot cousins. Why not. Keep them good genes in the family.”

No surprise there. I don’t know exactly what combination of mental defects are required to place cousin marriage in the “why-not?” category (esp. in light of what it has done to some Muslim societies), but I suppose a higher-than-average incidence of cousin marriages in the family tree would go a long way towards producing them. The genetic manifestation of a self-fulfilling prophecy, though I think vicious circle is a more apt characterization. That being the case, I don’t even want to know what you think of brother-sister marriages, but some societies thought they were an even better way of keeping the good genes around. Didn’t work out that way, though.

    • Replies: @AndrewR
The Habsburgs showed us the dangers of extreme inbreeding, but obviously outbreeding has its dangers too. Without even getting into straight up race-mixing, we see the effects of extreme exogamous selection pressure in places like Sweden and, to a lesser extent, much of the US.

When marriage between close kin is rare, that decreases the number of genes that a person shares with his kin relative to the general population. But it increases the number of genes that he shares with the general population relative to his kin. This is what results in high trust societies: relatively little genetic distinction between a total stranger and one's close relative. Of course, the problem with high trust societies is that they can be easily exploited by low trust tribes who import other low trust groups in order to destroy your society and create Lebensraum in the region where the low trust groups come from.

But back to my cousins, I have 16 first-cousins and, with the exception of about two of them, you would never guess that we were related. Of their dozens of children, not a single one shares many phenotypical traits with me.

Now phenotype is not the same as genotype but there's obviously a strong correlation.

My point is that cousin marriage would do exogamous people a lot of good. Maybe we could learn to stop trusting the whole world so much.

    http://www.startribune.com/viral-washburn-high-school-fight-video-was-a-hoax-district-says/410736925/

This isn’t quite fake. It was just some kids playing around who uploaded a video to youtube, and they admitted to it straight away when asked. What’s interesting is that so many people so desperately want it to be true.

A video posted Friday afternoon to Snapchat, Twitter and Facebook purportedly showing a Muslim student at Washburn High School using her fists to exact revenge on a boy who tugged her hijab is fake, a Minneapolis schools spokesman said Saturday.

But Dirk Tedmon, a spokesman for the school district, said Saturday that school officials who talked to families of the students after viewing the video learned that it was a “play fight” and intended as a joke. School safety and security staff confirmed the alleged incident never happened. By the time it was discovered to be a hoax, the video had gone viral, Tedmon said.

Blacks have joined Jews as officially beyond criticism of any kind.

Not a black or Jew thing. Trump has no right to strike back at anyone. Whether it’s a Muslim (Khan, the “Gold Star” father from the DNC convention), a white Gentile woman (Meryl Streep / Megyn Kelly), a black man (John Lewis), an evangelical white hispanic (Ted Cruz questioned Trump’s wife’s morals during the primaries, and Trump questioned Cruz’s wife’s mental stability), or a lesbian (Rosie O’Donnell), Trump is not allowed to respond to any insult or criticism.

If he does, the MSM will express shock and indignation that Trump had the audacity to attack a Gold Star parent / black / woman / legendary actress / innocent wife / etc. The MSM always leaves out the part about how the other party insulted or criticized Trump first.

For normal healthy White/Western people there is very little to like about Islam. It is a religion that appeals to the simple and to people with a perpetual grievance with the world. That’s why it never took hold in the West. The only White ethny that ever became Mualim were the Bosnians.

"The only White ethny that ever became Mualim were the Bosnians."

Interesting case, the Bosnians. While little is known about Bogomils, the "heresy" that took sway in Bosnia right before they got taken over by Islam, some historians, based on what was going on with the Cathars and Albigensians at around the same time, consider Bogomilism to also have been a Manichean heresy. (Despite what wiki tells you in the link I cited, it's not really all that clear what they believed, but whatever.) They supposedly hated the pomp and pomposity of Christians and their lords and bishops, and understandably so, but in the end, Bogomilism just weakened their defenses, alienated their allies, and got them 400 years of Ottoman suppression and "blood tax" and dhimmi-ism (and even today, a staging ground for al-Qaeda. Thanks, guys! Another brilliant strategem brought to you by yet another alleged improvement over Christianity.

And so, here we are again, a half a millennium or more later, with yet another round of idiots pushing either Islam as the preferred alternative, or equivalently, Manicheanism or some other divide-and-conquer strategy that will likely yet again be just another divide-and-conquer maneuver that allows the religion of peace to take over, though the hijab-pushers on the regressive left are trying hard to make sure they do that first.

And what could possibly go wrong with that, you ask? Well, talk to the Bosnians and Sicilians and the Albanians and Greeks -- and for that matter, any other area of Europe that, like Bosnia, was unlucky enough to have fallen under Muhammad's shadow -- how has that worked out for them? What an astonishingly curious coincidence it is that, to this day, they are the most dysfunctional and backwards parts of Europe (though again, the regressive left with their Malmös and Molenbeeks are strong contenders to take that prize away). As for me, thanks, but no thanks. Some of us have learned our lessons.

But when you get a taste of what they're offering up as alternatives, be it Islam, or Odinism, or Hitchens-ism, or the "Galtonism" some of the readers here seem to favor, or femi-queero-transo-black-power-this-or-that, then I'm out. The same goes for the supposedly superior religions that Christianity supposedly witch-burned out of existence. Curiously enough, feminists and liberals and ethnic grievance-hustlers love to play that game too, weeping about the gentle-peaceful-sync'd-with-nature pagan/BlackAthena/NativeAmerican mystery cults that were oh-so-superior to the white man's Christianity. Now you tell me it's Zorastrians who should have won out? Give me a break. Yeah, that's when I start to realize that Sister Ursula with the sadistic ruler isn't nearly as messed up as the people waiting in line to take their place.

What really gets my goat is the white power people who are upset with Christianity. The paranoids who imagine that lefty-ACLU-Jews are hiding under every white man's bed, and then, for the pièce de résistance they decide that taking down Christianity is a good idea. Because as we all know, the one thing that lefty ACLU types have been doing since day one is protecting Christianity and making sure that nothing destabilizes it. Cui bono, indeed.

That has to be the biggest face-palm moment since Malcolm X decided -- largely because of the shame he felt about the red hair he inherited from his white slave-owning and slave-raping biological grandfather -- to join a religion where raping your slave is literally established scripture, and remains so to this very day. Way to go, Malcolm! So tell me again how much better Zoroaster or Odin or Lillith would have worked out for everyone. Pull my other leg.

Ironically, Lindsay Lohan was famously confused with Deborah Harry who was exiting a hotel where Lohan was staying. Harry, who is well over forty years older than Lohan, is doing a clothing line with Mr. Fairey now.

    http://www.latimes.com/fashion/la-ig-wwd-shepard-fairey-debbie-harry-collab-20161228-story.html

I’m guessing that Ms.Lohan’s (possible) conversion to Islam is an extreme attempt to get sober. She’s a mess as evidenced by how badly she’s aging that she could be confused with a woman that much older than she.

It will be interesting to see of it sticks, though given how flaky Hollywood people are, no one can be sure. If it does, it could become a thing. If not, she might spend the rest of her life looking over her shoulder to make sure her head stays on her shoulders.

One often sees heavily made up women wearing the hijab, a good example of having one's cake and eating it. I doubt there was much by the way of cosmetics in 6th century Arabia, but the Prophet seems to have taken a dim view of it:

    https://wikiislam.net/wiki/Qur'an,_Hadith_and_Scholars:Beauty_and_Makeup

It’s not uncommon to se a very pretty woman with makeup, in jeans and a nice blouse, with a matching headscarf. That looks more like fashion than oppression–it has little to do with the way women get treated in Afghanistan, say.

  221. @Altai

I wonder how much of that is growing up in a culture where women don’t go out alone.

  222. @Daniel H
    >>90% of the women and girls at Walmart would look better in a hijab, than in what they’re wearing right now.<<

    You're right.

Yeah, corpulence is a much better argument for the burkini than Islam.

  223. @Buffalo Joe
Hapalong, Catholic women did not cover their faces at Mass with a veil, but often wore a head covering called a Mantilla. Nuns almost always wore a head covering, but not a veil.

A veil is a kind of head-covering. Nuns’ head-coverings are called veils. Mantillas are also correctly called Chapel Veils.

  224. @Jefferson
"Traditional Catholic women still do wear veils to Mass,"

Traditional Catholic women don't wear veils just to go pick up milk at their nearby local 7 Eleven like Muslim women do.

Not any more. Five minutes ago, but not any more.

  225. @Thea
Islam has created very successful propaganda aimed at the African American community.

    Good point.

Man, the one thing that gets some of them to quit drugs, drinking, and (maybe) promiscuous sex and unwed fatherhood, and it intensifies the hatred and resentment they already felt against us.

    Thanks yet again, islam.

    OT:

    Women's March Endorses Zeroth Amendment:

Rooted in the promise of America’s call for huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we believe in immigrant and refugee rights regardless of status or country of origin. It is our moral duty to keep families together and empower all aspiring Americans to fully participate in, and contribute to, our economy and society. We reject mass deportation, family detention, violations of due process and violence against queer and trans migrants. Immigration reform must establish a roadmap to citizenship, and provide equal opportunities and workplace protections for all. We recognize that the call to action to love our neighbor is not limited to the United States, because there is a global migration crisis. We believe migration is a human right and that no human being is illegal.

When will leftists realize that everything they've been fighting for is jeopardized by mass third world immigration: good wages for low income workers, economic and social equality, environmental protections, rising living standards for African Americans etc. People like Cesar Chavez, Barbara Jordan, and Samuel Gompers all understood this. Will today's leftists wake up before it's too late, or have we already passed the point of no return?

    Well said, Senator Sessions.

I have a cousin — on LonGisland, New Yawk no less — who was a typical leftist, as you describe, for long into adulthood. She said it’s the first time she has voted republican for prez in her adult life.

Unfortunately, she is in her 50s and it seems the government “schools”, universities, and media have created more than one younger person to outvote each decent & reasonable person like her on the other side in the years since we were all young.

I have a friend here in L.A., a MEXICAN-American in his 40s, who also voted trump even though he is not very “conservative” on limited government. One of the first conversations we had after meeting a few years ago, he said, “I want a social safety net and clean air and enough water, and we can’t have that if we let people in without end. There’s only so much water, only so much money, only so many hospital beds.”

She has aged so badly that if I dated Lindsay Lohan people would think she was a cougar even though she was born in 1986 and I was born in 1985, lol.

I watched the first hour of Mean Girls last night and LL was quite pretty back in 2004, but then so are a lot of 18 year olds.

  232. @Jefferson
I would not be surprised if John Lewis's extreme hatred of Donald J. Trump causes him to throw his hat in the race for president in 2020, even though he will be 80 years by that time. Like Harry Reid said, The Democratic Party primary in 2020 is going to look like an old folks home. Joe Biden will be 78 years old and Elizabeth Warren will be 71 years old. Crooked Cankles will be 73 years old if she gets the itch to run again.

When the Left Wing megaphone paints The Democratic Party as the party of youth, that only applies to it's voters. It no longer applies to it's politicians who are flirting with running for POTUS.

Jefferson, The primary race for the Dems will be very interesting. Bernie’s supporters will be much more aware of the dirty dealings and Hillary will not be the front runner if she decides to try again. The fringes will offer up candidates, that they think are viable, and then the fun begins. Hillary got most of the donations last go round, not next time. Big tent, big problems.

Honestly there's a lot to like about Islam. The way they treat their women especially has a lot of appeal.

Honestly there’s a lot to like about Islam. The way they treat their women especially has a lot of appeal.

What about how they are treating the men who end up on the incel side of the polygamy equation, or the receiver side of the Bacha Bazi equation?

This is why I find it hilarious when MRAs/PUAs/whatever think that Islam is a men’s paradise. Classic apex fallacy.

  234. @Amasius
Say yes to Zoroastrianism: Aryan religion, Aryan ethos, Aryan language scripture, Aryan prophet, by and for Aryan people. Would that it had won out in the first place.

    Manichaeism would work too.

“Would that it had won out in the first place.”

Woulda coulda shoulda. The fact that it didn’t should tell you something, grass-is-greener-elsewhere guy.

Look, I have no problem with people who have problems with Christianity. I sympathize. But when you get a taste of what they’re offering up as alternatives, be it Islam, or Odinism, or Hitchens-ism, or the “Galtonism” some of the readers here seem to favor, or femi-queero-transo-black-power-this-or-that, then I’m out. The same goes for the supposedly superior religions that Christianity supposedly witch-burned out of existence. Curiously enough, feminists and liberals and ethnic grievance-hustlers love to play that game too, weeping about the gentle-peaceful-sync’d-with-nature pagan/BlackAthena/NativeAmerican mystery cults that were oh-so-superior to the white man’s Christianity. Now you tell me it’s Zorastrians who should have won out? Give me a break. Yeah, that’s when I start to realize that Sister Ursula with the sadistic ruler isn’t nearly as messed up as the people waiting in line to take their place.

What really gets my goat is the white power people who are upset with Christianity. The paranoids who imagine that lefty-ACLU-Jews are hiding under every white man’s bed, and then, for the pièce de résistance they decide that taking down Christianity is a good idea. Because as we all know, the one thing that lefty ACLU types have been doing since day one is protecting Christianity and making sure that nothing destabilizes it. Cui bono, indeed.

That has to be the biggest face-palm moment since Malcolm X decided — largely because of the shame he felt about the red hair he inherited from his white slave-owning and slave-raping biological grandfather — to join a religion where raping your slave is literally established scripture, and remains so to this very day. Way to go, Malcolm! So tell me again how much better Zoroaster or Odin or Lillith would have worked out for everyone. Pull my other leg.

  235. Hey fools knock off the pagan glorification AND the Islam is okay as long as they stay there stuff . Christianity and European / Western culture are one and the same . Just because some modern Church types have been propagandized into a suicide mindset doesn’t mean the rest of us have to pile on board . No one here at Steve’s blog would actually want to live under Sharia Law or in an ancient pagan society – not even Tiny Troll .

  236. @Anonymous
For normal healthy White/Western people there is very little to like about Islam. It is a religion that appeals to the simple and to people with a perpetual grievance with the world. That's why it never took hold in the West. The only White ethny that ever became Mualim were the Bosnians.

“The only White ethny that ever became Mualim were the Bosnians.”

Interesting case, the Bosnians. While little is known about Bogomils, the “heresy” that took sway in Bosnia right before they got taken over by Islam, some historians, based on what was going on with the Cathars and Albigensians at around the same time, consider Bogomilism to also have been a Manichean heresy. (Despite what wiki tells you in the link I cited, it’s not really all that clear what they believed, but whatever.) They supposedly hated the pomp and pomposity of Christians and their lords and bishops, and understandably so, but in the end, Bogomilism just weakened their defenses, alienated their allies, and got them 400 years of Ottoman suppression and “blood tax” and dhimmi-ism (and even today, a staging ground for al-Qaeda.

Well, talk to the Bosnians and Sicilians and the Albanians and Greeks — and for that matter, any other area of Europe that, like Bosnia, was unlucky enough to have fallen under Muhammad’s shadow — how has that worked out for them? What an astonishingly curious coincidence it is that, to this day, they are the most dysfunctional and backwards parts of Europe (though again, the regressive left with their Malmös and Molenbeeks are strong contenders to take that prize away). As for me, thanks, but no thanks. Some of us have learned our lessons.

  237. @Light Roast

Blacks have joined Jews as officially beyond criticism of any kind.

Not a black or Jew thing. Trump has no right to strike back at anyone.

“The problem started when he hit me back!”

The neocons pissed me off so much that I sympathized with the Palestinians, Iranians and Erdoğan for a while, before events made it clear that Muslims never deserve our sympathy, there are things even more important than foreign policy, and neocons and Israel aren't the same thing.

Probably from the second Ron Paul campaign in 2011-2012, until the end of the boomlet when Rand Paul led the nomination polls in 2013, opinion on iSteve leaned pro-Muslim.

Anyway all that went into a sharp decline in Obama's second term following Merkel's Boner, Trayvon/Ferguson/BLM, the Yale/campus purges and all the other racial insanity from the left. AndrewR's comment is like a blast from the past.

“before events made it clear that Muslims never deserve our sympathy, there are things even more important than foreign policy, and neocons and Israel aren’t the same thing.”

Well put. And while I’m not saying that AndrewR isn’t thick enough to be sincere about his endorsements, I do believe that when groups like the SPLC do get around to infiltrating conservative sites (not that they haven’t already), their trolls will likewise try to float the notion that all the real he-men of the world need to switch to Islam or Manicheanism or whatever — as opposed to sticking with stale, sissy Christianity.
