From Ezra Klein’s Vox:

In defense of Sarah Jeong

Why Andrew Sullivan and the conservative media are wrong to call the New York Times’s latest hire “racist” for attacking white people.

By Zack Beauchamp @zackbeauchamp [email protected] Aug 3, 2018, 4:00pm EDT

… But to some conservatives, like National Review’s David French and New York magazine’s Andrew Sullivan, Jeong’s tweets are bigger than her: They reveal a rot in the progressive movement, that “social justice warriors” have become totally okay with racism so long as it’s directed at white people.

“The neo-Marxist analysis of society, in which we are all mere appendages of various groups of oppressors and oppressed, and in which the oppressed definitionally cannot be at fault, is now the governing philosophy of almost all liberal media,” Sullivan writes. “That’s how … the New York Times can hire and defend someone who expresses racial hatred.” (Note: The liberal media is not neo-Marxist.)

Both French and Sullivan singled out a tweet I had sent defending Jeong — “a lot of people on the internet today confusing the expressive way anti-racists and minorities talk about ‘white people’ with actual race-based hatred, for some unfathomable reason” — as an exemplar of the problem. Sullivan explains:

I don’t think the New York Times should fire her — in part because they largely share her views on race, gender, and oppression. Their entire hiring and editorial process is based on them. In their mind, Jeong was merely caught defending herself. As Vox writer Zack Beauchamp put it: “A lot of people on the internet today [are] confusing the expressive way antiracists and minorities talk about ‘white people’ with actual race-based hatred, for some unfathomable reason.” I have to say that word “expressive” made me chuckle out loud. (But would Beauchamp, I wonder, feel the same way if anti-racists talked about Jews in the same manner Jeong talks about whites? Aren’t Jews included in the category of whites?)

I have a lot of respect for Andrew — he gave me my first job in journalism, and I’ve been over to his DC condo more times than I can count — but I think he has a serious blind spot when it comes to race, and the analogy to Jews here helps reveal it. Both his piece and French’s misunderstand what racism is and how the so-called “social justice left” approaches the world — and the anti-Jeong vitriol you’ve seen from the right speaks more to its failings on race than it does anything about Jeong.

The basic thrust of both Sullivan and French’s argument is that if you subbed in any group other than “white people” for what Jeong wrote, then it would be obviously offensive. “#cancelblackpeople probably wouldn’t fly at the New York Times, would it?” Sullivan asks, rhetorically.

The only reason lefties aren’t offended by this obvious race-based hatred, the argument goes, is that they see the world entirely through the lens of power. Since whites as a class have it, minorities by definition cannot harbor racist attitudes toward them. …

What makes these quasi-satirical generalizations about “white people” different from actual racism is, yes, the underlying power structure in American society. There is no sense of threat associated with Jeong making a joke about how white people have dog-like opinions. But when white people have said the same about minorities, it has historically been a pretext for violence or justification for exclusionary politics. …

This is, incidentally, why you hear a lot of people on the social left say there’s no such thing as “reverse racism.” We interpret language through social context. Because of the way racial power structures are set up, the same set of words mean very different things when you swap out “white people” for “black people,” “Asians,” “Jews,” etc. The phrase might be racist in one context, in the sense of conveying actual racial animus, but not in another. …

Jeong’s tweets, in context, clearly fit this type of rhetoric. When she writes “dumbass fucking white people marking up the internet with their opinions like dogs pissing on fire hydrants,” she is not, as Sullivan accuses her of doing, “equat[ing whites] with animals.” Rather, she is commenting on the ubiquity of (often uniformed) white opinion on social media — a way of pointing out how nonwhite voices often don’t appear or get drowned out in social media discourse. …

In his column, Sullivan challenges me, specifically, to explain how I would feel if Jeong were tweeting about Jews rather than whites. “Would Beauchamp, I wonder, feel the same way if anti-racists talked about Jews in the same manner Jeong talks about whites? Aren’t Jews included in the category of whites?” he asks.

The example, I assume, is chosen deliberately: Andrew knows I’m Jewish and sensitive to the real problem of anti-Semitism on the left. So this seems like it should be a hard example for me, as a Jeong defender. But it’s not at all. In fact, it makes the distinction between what Jeong is doing even stronger.

First of all, not all Jews are white. Second, even for those Jews who are, our inclusion in the category of whiteness is historically contingent. For the modern alt-right — the people going after Jeong — Jews don’t actually count as white. Leading alt-right thinker Richard Spencer has said that in his ideal world, Jews would be expelled from the United States.

Jews are not marginalized in the exact same way that other minority groups are — on average, Jews are wealthier while black people are poorer — but there is deep-seated anti-Semitism in the United States and (even more so) in other Western countries. When you talk about “Jews” as a group, you aren’t just talking about a specific kind of white person; you’re talking about a historically marginalized group, one that has experienced the consequences of actual eliminationist rhetoric firsthand.

And this is what the conservative critiques of Jeong — even the good-faith ones, like Sullivan’s and French’s — miss entirely. When you talk about race and identity, the context in which you’re operating is absolutely inescapable.

Vox explains:

The sentence “white people run America” may use most of the same words as “Jews run America,” but the former is mostly true while the latter is an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.

That’s why you never read anyone in the New York Times or Vox daring to demean whites because white people are so powerful that they crush all skeptical inquiry about them — but the NYT and Vox are constantly counting up how many Jews are in positions of power, such as on the Forbes 400 — because Jews in America are too marginalized to demand respect and instill fear.

  3. I appreciate the dripping sarcasm, because it exposes the hoax that “privilege+power” actually matters to the left. If that were the case, Jews would be criticised all the time. It’s precisely because White people are not organised ethnically that this constant smearing can go on unpunished.

This case sets a very dangerous precedent. The signal is crystal clear: attack White people no matter how much you want, and you will get backup from the Jewish media.

I repeat: this is why we need White organisations. We cannot delude ourselves that anyone will stand up for our rights if nobody else will.

That was a helpful clarification. It’s not that hating white people is okay because white people have power; it’s impossible to even feel racial animus toward white people. Nobody is even capable of hating us. That’s an immense privilege — for which we deserve to pay a terrible price.

Sarah Jeong is effectively advocating for a return to slavery.

    There are two scenarios.

1). A constant fight for power between ethnic groups, where the marginalized try to topple the powerful and then punish them for their past transgressions.

If whites are placed at the bottom, you ipso facto have a new hierarchy.

2). The powerful choose to cede ‘space’ to the weak so that everyone, including the formerly powerful, has a fair bite of the apple.

If toppling the powerful means replacing them with a new and perhaps even more venal elite and recreating a new and equally unjust hierarchy, then there is no more reason for the currently powerful to free their slaves or to make any concessions at all to civil rights.

History is just reduced to one long sh1t fight to stay on top.

    Thanks Sarah for clarifying that.

But what is the argument being presented here to defend all this ugly bigoted language? The author sidesteps back and forth between “This stuff is simply true so there is no bias expressed” and “This kind of language does no harm”

The latter is “true” because, evidently, no one is doing race-based violence to white people.
    Or Trump supporters.

Absolutely unreal. The willful blindness to so much violence against white people. Newspapers document incidents daily. The statistics are not subtle. Or hard to find. How to understand this shocking, willful ignorance?

  20. I assume some postmodern professor of race taught the author of this article this nonsense. When an idiot tells you white racism isn’t racism, ask them where they learnt that idea. And NYT, as the Power, sent a message to the Asian community by hiring Jeong.

NYT used her as the model of the kind of Asian favored by the Power. Since Asians are slavish to the Power, they will try to mold themselves to be like Jeong.

NYT sent a message, “this is the kind of Asian we are looking for to be promoted”. In other words, Only SJW Asians allowed.

Asians are imitative. They’ve noticed that American Narrative favors the Angry People of Color and ‘good whites’ who pat themselves on the back for ‘understanding’ the plight of POC. Though Asians have done well in education, they’ve left out of the prestige of victim politics. Asians crave not only material success but attention. And Jeong and her ilk figured out that being stridently anti-white and dropping F-bombs get them noticed.

Jeong’s Anti-Model Minority is a shtick. Of course, she acted like a Model Minority in studying and going to good schools. But she wants prestige as ‘angry POC’ too. So, she got the promotion and the attention.

  26. The infuriating thing isn’t so much that Jeong made her idiotic remarks. It’s that people are actually defending them.

I also have to add that the notion that white gentiles hold the reins of power seems distinctly strange from where I sit. I live in Roseburg, Oregon — a somewhat impoverished town that used to be a center of the logging industry, and still is, to the extent that there’s a logging industry.

It’s lily-white — but grasping the levers of power, these people ain’t. Mighty nice folks — but the privileged elite?

  38. what is really interesting about this sarah jeong “scandal” is that the ny times apparently TRIED to generate outrage over this..they want this outrage…they planned for it..

for one thing, take a look at her twitter profile photo…she looks quite dark…she is a korean female, and they are not usually as dark as her twitter profile photo shows her to be …and if search google images for her you can find older photos of her on the web…and she really is not as dark as her twitter profile photo…that twitter profile photo has been photoshopped to make her look darker…

also those older photos show that she used to dye her hair and apparently had at least one white boyfriend in her past, perhaps two…it appears that she was dumped by him…and that she then turned anti-white…but i believe her anti-white turn was a calculated move, at least in part…

and all those past tweets were deleted…but surely she and the NY times knew they would be discovered…I believe that the nytimes brain trust sees jeong as being in the vanguard of this massive upcoming social change–a social movement rejecting the legacy of white males and promoting the ascendancy of the nonwhite female…but she really wasn’t dark enough..so they shopped in her darkness…

and ny times wants to be relevant and trendy…they want this outrage…

  40. syonredux says:

I get that white people who aren’t familiar might find this discomforting. Sullivan thinks it’s unacceptable on an “an open-forum website like Twitter.” But the reality is that Twitter is where these conversations between people of color are taking place, and (given the 280-character limit) it’s a lot easier to use the kind of “white people” shorthand rather than adding endless qualifications (“a certain kind of white person, definitely Not All White People,” is pretty lengthy).

Yeah, and an abbreviation like NAWP (Not All White People) would never work….just look at how LGBTQ completely failed to catch on….

This is why Sullivan’s use of “eliminationist” to describe Jeong’s words is, to my mind, particularly ill-chosen. Eliminationist language, in the way it’s used by scholars of genocide and racial oppression, is used as justification for concrete actions — the Holocaust is the textbook example, and the Rwandan genocide is another clear one. But the very idea that Sarah Jeong’s tweets reveal her desire to set up concentration camps for whites is laughable.

Whereas anyone who talks about Jewish power in America is clearly Hitler reborn….

Because of the way racial power structures are set up, the same set of words mean very different things when you swap out “white people” for “black people,” “Asians,” “Jews,” etc. The phrase might be racist in one context, in the sense of conveying actual racial animus, but not in another.

See, it’s all context…..Of course, if the context changes….

The 1804 Haiti massacre was carried out against the remaining white population of native French people and French Creoles (or Franco-Haitians) in Haiti by Haitian soldiers under orders from Jean-Jacques Dessalines. He had decreed that all suspected of conspiring in the acts of the expelled army should be put to death.[1]

The massacre, which took place throughout Haiti, occurred from early January 1804 until 22 April 1804, and resulted in the death of 3,000 to 5,000 men, women, and children.[2] Squads of soldiers moved from house to house, torturing and killing entire families.[3] Even whites who had been friendly and sympathetic to the black population were imprisoned and later killed.[4] A second wave of massacres targeted white women and children

Given that the modern left tends to define things according to yesterday’s realities, it’s probably a mistake to refer to them as progressive. People who are actually progressive focus on present realities and future possibilities, they certainly don’t fixate on past situations that have little relevance to current realities.

You know what white people should do?

They should write a series of Black Books… like the Black Book of Communism.

These Black Books would be about various non-white groups and detail all the nasty stuff in their history and culture. They would serve as contextual reference guide for whites whenever non-whites decide to dump on whites.

So, if some smarmy Hindu decides to badmouth whites, just crack open the Black Book of Hindus and recite all the examples of Hindu Horror.

Do this for every group. “Hey Seong, this here Black Book of Koreans says…”

I remember living in Diversity Central in 1975. There were lots of whites, blacks, browns, and immigrants of all color. Among kids I knew in school were Mexicans, Pakistanis, American Indian(actually half-breed who mostly looked white), Filipinos, etc. Everyone under the sun. The apartment I lived in was like the UN.

As this was 1975, there were still Archie Bunkers around. And TV broadcast WWII documentaries as 30th anniversary of WWII, and these still had lots of talk of ‘Japs’. Tom and Jerry cartoons had the hollering mammy. Mike Royko wrote stuff that couldn’t be published today. I was a kid but loved that stuff.

Back then, whites had way more power, position, prestige, and even privilege, but I don’t recall anti-white stuff from friends or their older siblings. And there was the sense that White America is Core America. And TV shows still had programs about American roots and heritage. Westerns played on TV all the time. WALTONS were on. The only people who looked down on whites were blacks, but it was physical than anything else. Black mentality was “I can kick his ass.”

Since then, white power and position have considerably diminished while non-white power has increased. You’d think non-whites would be happier and more content, but they’ve grown more bitter and nastier. Partly, it’s the rise of PC.

But maybe it’s because the competition is heating up among Diversity. When whites were the solid core, most non-whites were content to being good citizens and fitting in. That was it. But as whites fade, non-whites face the prospect for competing for the ultimate prestige and power.
The idea is that Diversity will beat and replace whites. Okay, but which Diversity group will gain the lion’s share of power? Blacks want it. They think they are cool and badass due to sports and pop. Asians think they should get more cuz they excel in education. Mexicans think they should get it cuz they are the biggest immigrant group. And etc. So, if they are now competing against each other, why all this anti-white invective? Because they are taking the prize from whites and also because white-bashing masks the troublesome rivalry among Diversity.

In Kurosawa’s RAN, the two sons lead their armies against their father’s small force shacked up in the Third Castle. The father’s 30 men are no match for the two massive armies. So, why are the two sons hurling so much firepower at such a meager force? Because the real conflict isn’t between two sons vs the father. The father has lost his power already. The real struggle is now between the two sons, and they mask their rivalry by pretending to unite against the father. The reason why both armies expend such excessive force against the father is to impress and intimidate each other. “I can smash father’s forces real good.” “I can smash father’s forces even better.”

Same kind of logic seems operative now. As non-white groups move in for the kill, each group wants to impress the others that it’s made of badass stuff and isn’t to mess with. And they demonstrate their prowess by showing how awesomely they can bash whitey.
Whites are the punching bag, and each group punches as hard as possible to send the rival non-whites groups that it’s made of tough stuff. It’s Punch-a-Nazi contest.

    https://www.vox.com/first-person/2017/12/22/16768648/jewish-christmas

So for many Jews, skipping Christmas — even hating it — is an essential part of our Judaism. That was me, up until now.

I spent my early years in a mostly Catholic neighborhood in suburban Maryland, one of roughly three Jewish families. When my paternal grandparents, who were Christian, would send us Christmas gifts, my mom would usually rewrap them in Hanukkah paper. Our annual Hanukkah party, to which all of our friends in the neighborhood were invited, was a marker that we weren’t being sucked in: that we were different, and proud of it. …

My greatest fear for American Jewry isn’t that we become victims of another Holocaust; that seems wildly unlikely even despite the recent surge in anti-Semitism. It’s that we, slowly but surely, lose our identity as Jews — that being a Jewish American becomes less of a core part of one’s identity and more of a background fact, like being of Irish or Italian descent. Celebrating Christmas, it seemed to me, was one step toward the quiet oblivion of neutered Judaism. There needed to be lines, and this was one of them. …

Am I quietly compromising on the thing that I cared about most — my children’s Judaism?

Therefore the only people actually oppressed in this country were blacks and Native Americans (they weren’t subject to Jim Crow but getting thrown off your land qualifies as oppression). I’m surprised blacks don’t get mad about these other groups trying to steal their oppressed status. Well, no. In fact she never mentioned Theranos that I could find, even after it became an iconic technology law case. It turns out that by “law” and “technology”, she means her personal obsessions with the following, in roughly decreasing order of prominence: selfie monkeys, racist bots, preventing revenge porn, and anxiety about reporters getting prosecuted for lawbreaking. And that’s about it. The smart money is that someone has some nekkid pictures of her that she doesn’t want published and that she’s done some things that she hopes no legal authorities will find out about. The commenters who said that her incessant anti-straight white male-ism bespeaks a history of getting pumped and dumped by tech bros will probably find confirmation in her journalism subject choices. She has a special animus against the bro-ish execs at Uber.

She does occasionally write something about actual law, but usually only to say that it is “weird” or “boring”. Yeah, she actually uses those adjectives and her editors wave it through. Most of her writing is isn’t very informative to an interested reader who is say, facing a lawsuit or building a tech company. Mostly she just strikes an attitude and grabs metaphorical props from the internet to lean on. In other words, she is a slightly upmarket version a middle school YouTuber.

The NYT is standing by her as their new golden girl on the editorial board, and standing by her will-to-genocide (though they did chastise her for being quite so public about it).

This is right after NYT publisher Art Sulzberger visited Trump to complain that he said the media are the “enemy” and publish “fake news”. Because they’re not, and they totally, like, don’t. So stop being so, like, judgmental. Why don’t you Get It like we, the Anointed, do?

This country was founded on ethnic cleansing and slavery. And ethnic cleansing has never stopped: be it blacks moving into white neighborhoods, making said neighborhoods unlivable for whites and forcing the whites to flee to safer, more pleasant areas; or the opposite – gentrification – whites forcing blacks out of black neighborhoods through higher property values. And of course, let’s not forget about the Potsdam Agreement, which involved the non-peaceful ethnic cleansing of millions of ethnic Germans within living memory, leading to hundreds of thousands of deaths. The governments of the US and the UK have never expressed any regret for their role in this,
    for obvious (((reasons))).

Spencer should be lauded for his honesty, which is refreshing in a world of liars.

    - Does helping to craft a political plaform especially appealing to middle class and blue collar Whites qualify as racism?

Okay, but even if that’s true, non-whites can be hateful, demented, brutal, murderous, deranged, paranoid, psychotic, and/or savage toward whites.

Maybe the Japanese weren’t ‘racist’ toward white POWs. They were just brutal, sadistic, and murderous. And blacks can’t be ‘racist’ toward whites but they can be rude, nasty, violent, criminal, and murderous toward whites. Blacks rob, rape, and murder whites on a daily basis. It’s not ‘racist’ but it sure is crazy, murderous, and lunatic.

The reason why these yellows are such tools of Jews.

Their mental attitudes and styles are different. Wherever Jews go, they think they know better. So, if Jews go to study in Japan or Germany or any nation, their method is to study the system and the (goy) people who are telling him a certain Narrative. A Jew doesn’t swallow the Narrative whole. Rather, he critiques it from the Jewish angle. So, Jews keep their heads about themselves. Jews enter other worlds but don’t submit to them. Jews listen to other Narratives but challenge them and process and revise them to serve Jewish ethnocentrism.

If Jews were to study in Korea, they wouldn’t think Koreans know best or that it’s the role of Jews to dutifully soak up what Koreans teach or the Korean narrative. Jews will listen and think independently from a Judeocentric POV. They will interpret and challenge the Korean narrative to suit Jewish mindset and interests. (As for blacks, their mindset wherever they go is, “This here people and place exist to SERVE me and Celebrate me and my ass. If they don’t, they be ‘racist’.” )

But the Asian mentality is different. Deferential to the existing authority and earnestly committed to soaking up the reigning dogma with earnest zeal, they lack independence of mind, critical mentality, and even ethnocentrism(when living outside Asia). So, when Asians come to the West, they mindlessly and dutifully study, soak up, and parrot the official line. Indeed, even when Asians act ‘rebellious’, it is in service to the dominant power. All those Red Guards weren’t real rebels. They were running dog toadies of Mao. Their ‘rebellion’ was in total service to Mao, the Great Helmsman. (When Jews came to the US, they didn’t just soak up Wasp Christian Narrative as the Correct one. They clung to their own identity and own interests and challenged the Narrative to the reach the top. In contrast, Koreans who studied in the US in the distant past just became slavish and servile Christian dogs And today, they become slavish and servile PC dogs.)

And we see the same thing with Seong. She came to the West that is now controlled by Jews and their homo allies. Jews promote anti-white hatred because it is the ONLY thing that holds the Diversity Coalition together. After all, if all whites were to vanish into the air, Jews and Diversity would break apart. As Jews could no longer hide behind ‘white privilege’, non-Jews will notice that Jews got most wealth and power, and the conflict will be Jews vs People of Color. And without the shared hatred against whites, Diversity itself would break apart. I mean, what do blacks, Mexicans, Muslims, Hindus, Asians, and etc have in common anyway?

So, anti-white Hatred is crucial to keep the Jew-Diversity Coalition together. Jews offer non-whites around the world easy access to white and white-made nations. After all, non-whites prefer white nations over their own. And in exchange, non-whites ally with Jews and support Jewish agenda. Indeed, immigration-to-white-nations is the Jewish bribe to non-whites in exchange for non-whites supporting Jewish-controlled globalism.
Indeed, that bribe is so precious to non-whites that even Muslims ally with Jews in the US. Deep in their hearts, Muslims hate Jews and Zionists for what they did to Palestinians and to the Muslim World. But because Jews offer Muslims easy access to the West, Muslims in the US pretend to go along.

Anyway, Seong is typical of her Asian kind. She has abandoned all sense of identity and even Korean-ness. She is a deracinated purple-haired globalist dog-agent of Jews and homos. Why? Because Jews and homos dominate Elite institutions in the US. Jews rule the US, and homos have been elevated to angel status.
Asians in the US don’t critique the WHY of this. They just soak it all up. Even though they are really servile toadies of the Power of Jewish elites, they flatter themselves as ‘rebels’ because they’ve been brainwashed with the idea that US is ruled by ‘white supremacism’. So, even though Seong is a just a toady servant of Zionist globalist imperialists, she thinks she’s part of some noble ‘resistance’ against the Nazis. LOL. Riiiiight, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Wall Street, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Law firms, and etc. are all controlled by Nazis who hunt down poor helpless Jews who have nightmares of giant golf balls chasing them. Jews got her real good. She is a toady of the supreme power in the US but thinks she’s part of some Popular Front against Nazis. Her sense of reality has nothing to do with reality but with college syllabi assembled by globalist-imperialist professors, especially of Jewish extraction. Wiki-leaks showed that the Obama administration interfered in Korean election to bring Park to power because her party was so servile to US military-industrial complex. But Seong is too busy with dyeing her hair blue or purple and barking at ‘nazis’ to win approval from her Jewish masters.

Lord, another post about Sarah Jeong? Steve is making her points for her. Is acting like a snowflake supposed to be irony? Massive corruption in Washington, deficit out of control, a President whose ties to Russia become clearer day after day, mortgage rates about to trigger another depression, Brexit a disaster, and we get seven straight posts about a Korean-American trying to be sarcastic.

Not complicated. Immigration, demographics and the level of racial contention and the “rules” being imposed actually matter. So Steve’s delving into the justifications offered here and having some fun with it.

All the stuff you’re getting so excited about–even if it was real–is transient noise.

    – Trump and Russia — please; zero actual content

    – Mortgage rates — honestly i’ve been expecting interest rates to rebound since 2009 and have taken a pasting on my cash position as a result (fortunately my equity positions have been outstanding); seriously, isn’t it about time interest rates got off the canvas? They have to go up some time and managing that carefully without creating another recession is what we pay central bankers for.

    – Brexit isn’t “a disaster”. Basically the problem is the British establishment doesn’t want to actually leave. That’s the problem. Brexit is no more complicated then, Britain just … actually leaving! Leave and rejoin the free trade thing Norway, Switzerland are part of. The EU can do whatever, and Britain can do whatever in response. If the EU is obstinate, Britain can ink deals with the Anglo-Sphere–Canada, Australia, the US. You know Trump would be favorably disposed. If conditions deteriorate, they can throw out all their immigrants. Worse case … Britons can go back to work, building their own stuff! Imagine that.

“Worse case … Britons can go back to work, building their own stuff! Imagine that.”

Dunno about that one, the Brits haven’t been an economic powerhouse for nearly a century. Build their own stuff? Remember, they had Hong Kong and a few other prosperous colonies paying tribute to hide their actual economic decline for a good long while. To actually go to work? On their own, by themselves? Seriously? Can just see Jeremy Corbyn promoting that kind of platform: “Let’s make Britain great again, people! We are, after all, the working persons party! Queue up, queue up! Right behind the path to prosperity for all working persons!”

Nope, not gonna fly. Can’t expect the Brits to actually do something that they haven’t been asked to do (e.g. actually work to get their GNP up to first world levels again) for quite a long while. And on their own. If they truly cared about such things, they’d have done so long since.

This is a correct summary of the narrative promoted to Asians. It does not accurately describe what actually happens in the Harvard admissions process, though. The reality is that Harvard (and other Ivies) promote primarily Jews, and to a lesser extent blacks and mestizos. The groups that are disadvantaged are primarily whites, and to a lesser extent Asians. This situation is obscured by the simple expedient of lumping Jews and whites together in the admissions statistics.

So he attempts to rebut Sullivan’s mischaracterization of his argument by… completely conceding that his characterization is correct?

    He’s trying to:

    1. Reinforce the concept of the chosenites as a coherent, “organic,” indivisible group who are always powerless, innocent, persecuted victims,

    2. Promote the canard that “whiteness” is “historically contingent” or perhaps “socially constructed” — that it is “not real” in some important sense,

    3. Reinforce the concept of Whitey’s collective, irredeemable original sin, and

    4. Characterize all objections to Jeong’s hatred as attempts to call it “racism” or “reverse racism.” He’s very careful not to use the correct term “anti-White hatred.”

He knows that “anti-White” is more effective rhetoric for our side than DR3 — so should we. He is (correctly) pointing out that “racist” is an anti-White slur, and has no meaning outside of that context.

The facts of this particular case are not really that important from his standpoint — the major tenets of the underlying narrative template are what matter.

Dangerous for (((whom)))? We’ve seen this story play out so many times, with so much destruction. In fact, it was the recognition of this disastrous pattern playing out over and over again that convinced many Europeans that the creation of Israel was wise.

  177. Chase says:
    @Anonymous

Yeah, well gravity isn’t unusual, or surprising, but can be dangerous if not planned around correctly.

  178. ATBOTL says:

The whole reason Vox doesn’t have comments is so they can push the narrative in such a direct way. Can you imagine how this line of nonsense would hold up under the scrutiny of a comment debate?

It’s glorious to see these taboos crumbling and the commissars fumbling around trying to save the narrative.

  179. Chase says:
    @I, commenter

Ask Max Boot how that worked out for his family long term. It’ll be the same here, with a similar amount of damage to everyone.

Zack Beauchamp is, in his own words, a “deeply committed Jew” who “abhors Israel’s violence…” but who “…still can’t boycott Israel.”

    https://www.vox.com/first-person/2017/12/22/16768648/jewish-christmas

    https://www.vox.com/world/2018/5/15/17352640/israel-gaza-embassy-american-jews

Some quotes from the first piece:

“So for many Jews, skipping Christmas — even hating it — is an essential part of our Judaism. That was me, up until now.”

“When my paternal grandparents, who were Christian…”

So I guess Zack’s Dad was not born Jewish but converted? Unless his Christian parents raised him as a secular Jew for some strange reason.

“I cared more about Jewish Christmas, and all of the grinchiness it entails, than I did about most actual Jewish holidays.”

    Sounds healthy.

“There was no theological defense for this. It was bound up, in my head, with the idea of Jewish difference and survival.”

“My greatest fear for American Jewry isn’t that we become victims of another Holocaust; that seems wildly unlikely even despite the recent surge in anti-Semitism. There needed to be lines, and this was one of them.”

We mischlings are in danger of losing our identity as Jews that we don’t really care about except as a marker of difference and diversity Pokemon points. G-d forbid Christmas conflicted mischlings assimilate into America to the same degree that Irish people have. That would truly be another Shoah.

“For my new life to flourish, my inner grinch had to be put down. I had to reconcile myself to the fact that come December, there would be a Christmas tree and a menorah, candy canes next to Hanukkah gelt, stockings on the banister and latkes in the frying pan. Chrismukkah, as The OC’s Seth Cohen dubbed it, had become my new reality.”

As Steve has stated many times, these journalists pushing the narrative often have issues themselves.

I happen to know, and have known for 65 years, the next step in human evolution. You are not he, are you? He’s a Goodthinker (albeit a very bright one). I can hardly imagine him in these disreputable parts.

  183. As Jewish Joel Stein (then with the Jew-owned L.A. Times, now with the Jew-owned Time Magazine) put it:

“…I don’t care if Americans think we’re running the news media, Hollywood, Wall Street or the government. I just care that we get to keep running them.”

All-powerful Whites must pretend not to notice.

  184. @ATBOTL

Sounds like an idiot, not a spokesman.

In my school, everybody (regardless of faith or lack thereof) was glad to sing at the Christmas assembly because it got you out of class, not just for the performance, but for all the rehearsals. The girls all went to Nutcracker, and the really lucky ones got to dance in local productions of it.

The only one who was really resented religion-wise was the Unitarian who got to celebrate both Christian and Jewish holidays. We thought she got twice as many presents. If only we’d known. I learned later she spent most of her time at their building (not sure it’s a church) doing arts & crafts projects and singing “Kumbaya” or something.

  185. @WowJustWow

Trig is a good name for a mathlete, as are Al, Cal, and Geo.

    Asians are good at math.

  186. @ATBOTL

At my first office job (in college), I continued my childhood habit (instilled in me by my mother and grandmother) of giving small Christmas gifts to all of my co-workers.

One of my female co-workers looked at the gift and said, “Um … you do know I’m Jewish, right? I don’t celebrate Christmas.”

I said, “Well, think of it as a Hanukkah gift.”

    “Hanukkah is over.”

“Well, it’s just a seasonal gift.”

“There’s no such thing as a seasonal gift.”

“Just think of it as a nice gesture.”

“It’s not a nice gesture. It’s a Christmas gift, and don’t try to pretend that it’s something else.”

“Well, then maybe I should just take it back.”

“No, it’s all right. I’m not overly offended. I’ll keep it.”

(She never did say “Thank you.”)

The next year, I didn’t bother with the gifts. I was tempted to give that particular woman a card saying “Happy Kwanzaa, you f**king c**t,” but I didn’t.

Well, like they say, if you want a friend, get a dog. My friend Helen is nothing if not a bitch.

The last time the nice thoughtful intelligent whites sat on their hands pondering the “controversy” of Bolshevik street terror – I consider the unrestrained eliminationalist-rhetoric indulged in by Twitter ogres and race traitors to be not just every bit as bad, but even worse – TENS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE DIED…..of whom, only the Jews who started the ball rolling have bothered getting counted. (Mostly at their screeching insistence.)

If you, too, once thought you were one of the Good Ones because you could never countenance uttering racialist maxims like We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children without scrunching up your face with the proper who-farted? expression: get over yourself and start pulling the rope with the rest of us.

We were naive idiots to think that we could nurse countless vipers at our breast and somehow emerge stronger, rather than deader, from the experience. Besides, in case you haven’t noticed, it’s no longer a choice.

  189. @Stan Adams

Silly woman. Bet she’s not even religious.

We all did Pollyannas at my public school. Not that we we’re all tolerant or something: I think we would have celebrated Mao Tse Tung’s birthday to get a party and presents.

  190. Ian M. says:
    @Thulean Friend

Yes. As these attacks in the media become ever more brazen and vicious, more and more whites will begin thinking of themselves as group with collective interests that need to be defended.

The problem is that there are a great many whites today who agree with the media attacks.

  191. Ian M. says:

Haha, I wondered the same thing.

Yeah, Sarah has to be one of the most popular names given to Protestant girls born in the ’80s and ’90s. I’ve known a ton of them that were born during that era.

That era (and still today) saw a lot of traditionally Jewish names given to Christian babies.

The infuriating thing isn’t so much that Jeong made her idiotic remarks. It’s that people are actually defending them.

    “fragile racist misogynists”

But of course going on and on about trivial ‘microaggressions’ committed against colored people people of color is not being fragile.
