U. of Missouri Football Squad Moral Paragons in Fight Against Racism; in Fight Against Rapism, Not So Much

With the U. of Missouri football team and coach overthrowing the University’s president for insufficient racial hysteria today, it’s worth taking a look at the Missouri athletic program’s moral bonafides.

From ESPN:

Missouri has second-highest number of alleged … sex assaults in OTL study
6/13/2015
Paula Lavigne, ESPN Staff Writer

An examination last year of how the University of Missouri athletic department handled off-the-field issues involving some of its athletes was the impetus for a broadened Outside the Lines investigation, released Sunday, that studied similar issues at nine other major football and men’s basketball programs.

To determine how often crimes involving college athletes are prosecuted and what factors influence them, Outside the Lines requested police reports involving all football and men’s basketball players on rosters from 2009 to 2014 from campus and city police departments covering 10 major programs: Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Texas A&M and Wisconsin

Missouri had 63 criminal cases involving 46 athletes during the five-year time period. Twelve athletes were involved in more than one incident, Outside the Lines found, and Missouri had the second-highest number of allegations of sexual assault, violence against women, and harassment. Florida State had the most.

In several of the Missouri cases, victims declined prosecution because of the suspect’s status as an athlete and/or because they feared unwanted publicity and harassment from fans.

    Melaninism defeated feminism.

Feminists couldn’t stem the tide of the culture of ho’s and pimps. Feminists could rail against heavy metal white ‘sexists’ but were mum about rap ‘misogyny’ out of fear of being called ‘racist’ and also because rap culture promoted interracism, something favored by Jewish-dominated feminism(that wanted to see white shiksa beauty degraded via race-mixing; Jewish girls feel toward ‘aryan’ shiksas the way Lamotta felt about Tony Janiro).

The only thing that has proved effective against Negroes is homo culture, and this is why whites are so partial to homo agenda.
At least whites can now accuse black thugs of ‘homophobia’ and ‘transphobia’.

  2. If you don’t follow college football, keep in mind that Missouri’s team is awful this year. The coach would be on the hot seat but now it would be racist to fire him. For the players, Black Lives Matter but their inability to win football games doesn’t.

Indeed. I'm guessing this is because women are less likely to riot and burn down cities if they don't get their way.

Perhaps the radical feminists should start a "burn, sister burn" movement.

  4. Let’s take a look back at a university president who fired the football team:

“He [Robert Maynard Hutchins] pulled Chicago out of the Big Ten Conference and eliminated the school’s football program, which he saw as a campus distraction. Hutchins heaped scorn upon schools which received more press coverage for their sports teams than for their educational programs, and the trustees provided the support he needed to drop football in 1939. The decision was hailed by many, and Hutchins today serves as a model for those who argue that commercialized college sports are incompatible with the academic aims of institutions of higher learning.”

Williams in sleepy northwestern Massachusetts did away with football because of the expense (they also banned fraternities for the different, purely headline-seeking reason in your example). A lot of small colleges tried the same but, in exchange for kicking the heroin of football, got hooked on the bath salts of basketball, particularly among the poorer Catholic schools.

Basically unless your campus admits a couple hundred people per year or fewer, you fall into this den of iniquity. Also it's a way to rationalize admitting unqualified black men.

That should go well for everyone else, including those who live near the huge thickly wooded campus, already occupied by skateboard-swinging, watermelon-stealing, cop-attacking dindus, sexual perverts, and mentally ill bums.

But TESC has a new prez, one with "diversity" credentials out to here and a diversicrat wife to boot. Part of his hiring involved him courting the committee with how he'd bring tasty federal diversibling to the febrile institution, which spends more money on tranny bathroom studies and complaints than library books.

    Worth watching.

Friends in question who report to me on these things, for what it's worth, all are males who chose to work there in part because the school was one of the very few that de-emphasized sports and lacks Greek organizations. These males range in politics from very dark enlightenment to paleoconservative to old-timey conservative to ex-liberals who now find themselves called conservative, and one who till Ferguson identified as prog but now calls himself a born again elitist. Their tenure at the college ranges from under five to over 30 years.

The first case you listed actually occurred, the second case is your own assumption. So, you really should have both instances be similar in nature. Regardless, there actually is a rape culture no matter if it is a white or black male, contrary to some conservatives insistence that it’s all made up. Yet, this claim states otherwise.

    http://thefederalist.com/2014/12/11/new-doj-data-on-sexual-assaults-college-students-are-actually-less-likely-to-be-victimized/

Considering more white non-Hispanic commit violent crimes than Hispanics or blacks, as in raw numbers, if one considers the absolute number of offenders and it turns out there are a larger number of offenders who are white than those who are black, then it stands to reason whites is the greater threat in terms of likelihood of criminal acts. The statistical fact is that you’re more likely to be a victim of a white perpetrator than a black one just because there are so many more whites in the population.

But rape culture doesn’t exist, so I’ve been informed. Or, it only exists if non-whites are somehow involved. Or, it occurs when whites aren’t involved. It’s really a political and racial football, like so many other things.

There's quite a bit of history of college and pro athletes getting away with serious crimes, particularly assault/DV, but also sometimes rape, because of their fame. I don't know what fraction of campus rapes are from athletes, or even where you'd look for such information.

A lot of people here are skeptical of the rhetoric surrounding campus rape--we suspect the estimates of rate of rape to be inflated by activists. But I don't think anyone disputes that rapes happen on campus sometimes, or that they should be taken seriously.

Most rapes are date-rapes, where it's all but impossible to prove for sure if a crime took place at all. Probably the great majority of accusations of date rape are true (making a rape accusation is no picnic for the victim!), but lacking any physical evidence that's really definitive, you're left with the victim and the accused making contradictory statements, and no way to be sure who's telling the truth. You can't solve that problem without getting rid of the presumption of innocence and putting women in the position of being able to have any sexual partner jailed at will. This is another of those nasty trade offs we live with.

The HIV positive wrestler at Lindenwood did not actually rape anyone--he merely forgot to tell his numerous partners (I think it was 46) that he was infected. My recollection is that there was a story in the STL Post-Dispatch reporting that he was convicted for assault for failing to disclose.

    in terms of likelihood

Well since likelihood implies the probability, it is obvious you don't understand what the word means. The probability of you being the victim of a crime would be the same as the rate for that crime and we already know that the crime rates are higher for violent crimes for blacks and Hispanics than for whites.
    , @Brutusale
Rape at Brigham Young University, Smith College, Amherst College and similar schools, not so much.

Rape at any school sporting a Top 20 football or basketball program, quite a bit more than you'd expect.

But as a lib, you like to quote the monolithic total without breaking it down to the proper components that give the real information.

The statistical fact is that you’re more likely to be a victim of a white perpetrator than a black one just because there are so many more whites in the population.

The first case you listed actually occurred, the second case is your own assumption. So, you really should have both instances be similar in nature. Regardless, there actually is a rape culture no matter if it is a white or black male, contrary to some conservatives insistence that it's all made up. Yet, this claim states otherwise.

But rape culture doesn't exist, so I've been informed. Or, it only exists if non-whites are somehow involved. Or, it occurs when whites aren't involved. It's really a political and racial football, like so many other things.

There’s quite a bit of history of college and pro athletes getting away with serious crimes, particularly assault/DV, but also sometimes rape, because of their fame. I don’t know what fraction of campus rapes are from athletes, or even where you’d look for such information.

A lot of people here are skeptical of the rhetoric surrounding campus rape–we suspect the estimates of rate of rape to be inflated by activists. But I don’t think anyone disputes that rapes happen on campus sometimes, or that they should be taken seriously.

Also it's a way to rationalize admitting unqualified black men.

first, I lol’d at this. second, its very true as well. My university is one of those catholic schools, although I wouldnt say its poor. Its not an easy school to get a degree from, students have to work so its for the best that it only lets in 7 or 8 really unqualified blacks a year compared to 60+ at some of these big SEC football schools

Unlike white male Hollywood or corporate types.

“But I don’t think anyone disputes that rapes happen on campus sometimes, or that they should be taken seriously.”

Sometimes, yes. The question is by whom and how often?

“Most rapes are date-rapes, where it’s all but impossible to prove for sure if a crime took place at all. “

Actually, it’s not that impossible. Rape kits and testimony are useful tools to investigators to determine whether charges ought to be filed because there is enough evidence to suggest that crime was committed.

“Probably the great majority of accusations of date rape are true (making a rape accusation is no picnic for the victim!), but lacking any physical evidence that’s really definitive, you’re left with the victim and the accused making contradictory statements, and no way to be sure who’s telling the truth.”

Actually, a jury, if there is even a trial, is able to weigh the evidence and figure out who is more credible.

“Well since likelihood implies the probability, it is obvious you don’t understand what the word means.”

Probability refers to the occurrence of future events, while a likelihood refers to past events with known outcomes. Regardless, from 2012-2013, according to Bureau of Justice Statistics, out of 6,484,507 violent crimes, 42.9% were committed by whites, 22.4% were committed by blacks, and 14.8% were committed by hispanics.

    Maybe you're thinking of BU?

Yeah, John Silber killed BU football and, even though the program was successful at the time (defeating Kurt Warner and Northern Iowa in the 1993 Div. 1-AA playoffs) because at the end, they were spending over $4 million on the program and taking in $100,000 in ticket sales and alumni support. No matter how good they were, they never outdrew the powerhouse hockey team.

Can you imagine something like this Missouri debacle happening at any school with John Silber in charge?

Well, Brigham Young has their own interesting issue regarding sexual violence.

    http://www.psmag.com/health-and-behavior/college-age-mormons-sexual-violence-religious-problem-84637

Regarding Smith College, there was a major incident that occurred recently.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/22/nyregion/support-for-a-student-grows-as-college-examines-its-sexual-assault-policies.html?_r=0

But, as I have been informed numerous times on this fine blog, rape culture, and rape on college campuses, is just a myth.

“But as a lib, you like to quote the monolithic total without breaking it down to the proper components that give the real information.”

Liberal and conservative are so passe. I prefer human being. Praytell, what is this “breaking it down to proper components”?

Well, the group is white. And the raw number compared to other groups is larger. That is my brain being able to process information.

  43. Hobart & Smith Colleges ain’t Smith College, son. You’re being obtuse.

As for the BYU story, did you completely miss the point of my comment? BYU had a rape occur, and I don’t think anyone would say it doesn’t happen; note my qualifier “not so much”. That rape occurs at BYU more often than Florida State or LSU, sorry, not even close.

And many say the majority of sexual assaults at jockstrap universities is vastly underreported. I hate to keep bringing him up, but Dan Jenkins covered the old powerhouse Southwest Conference for 50 years, and he riffed on it in his novel Rude Behavior, where a sexual assault by the star running back became “they tripped on the stairs and is dick fell into her” in exchange for a full scholarship for the Tri Delt. Funny that it seems that in the intervening 15 years since Jenkins wrote the book, jock colleges now slut-shame the women who actually pursue charges, like the soccer player in the Missouri case. Funny party line for institutions run almost exclusively by Democrats. A War on Women indeed!

Anyone believing that the incidence of rapists among Division 1 football and basketball athletes isn’t higher than that of their peers on campus is laboring under a seriously delusional state, and rational discourse about sensitive subjects is beyond them.
