There has been a vicious outbreak of white supremacist Trump backers vandalizing Brooklyn synagogues over the last few days. Fortunately, they’ve all been caught on security camera footage. First there was the alt-right Brandeis Black Studies major, then the white nationalist who culturally appropriated dreadlocks, and now The Jets from West Side Story:

The French Revolution, the Clapham abolitionists, John Brown and his backers, the miscegenist enthusiasms of the Grimke sisters and other radical integrationists are all products of purely gentile delusion. You are no Progressive Ducky, that's for sure. Miscegenation is very 1950s - when the NAACP was in favour of Colored People and the ACLU was in favour of Free Speech. Now,only James Watson and Richard Lynn are able to use it
Better not use it in "Progressive" circles. They would wring your Tiny Neck.

Which is precisely what conservationists are doing to the Ruddy Duck because of its tendency to miscegenate.

Morgan Freeman was in the 1991 Robin Hood. That was the earliest example of anachronistic diversity I can think of.
    , @Mr. Anon
I saw that trailer too. It appears to take place in some kind of alternative universe where 13th century England looks like a steam-punk party at Comicon and Robin Hood practices Parkour. (Incidentally, I thought the Parkour craze peaked when it was featured in Casino Royale and The Bourne Ultimatum. It seems to me to be the kind of thing that eventually burns out after most of its practioners end up as vegetables or quadruplegics.)

It looks like total crap. Even after just seeing the trailer, I wanted my money back.

Use as much of that healthcare as you can. Go back for seconds. Fill your backpack, your pockets, your cheeks. Grab as much stuff as you can - get yourself some school lunch, some school breakfast, get yourself a heaping of SNAP, get some free needles and free daycare, new roads, new counseling...get yourself some stuff. Just get it while it lasts. There’s lots of rot in a nation, but soon enough we’ll find the bottom. Digging for the bottom is a job that Americans aren’t doing well enough, so we’ve got some caravans coming to help you dig deeper and faster.

Sure she isn't. She's just a tax attorney who owes over $50,000 to the IRS, has $76,000 in credit card debt, and made $177,000 in 2014 for a part-time job with a voter registration project that she helped start.

    , @El Dato

In other words, Bina48 looks like a black woman—and that struck Dinkins, an art professor at Stony Brook University whose work focuses on race and culture. Early on, she asked Bina48 if it had experienced racism. “I actually didn’t have it,” the bot replied, stumping Dinkins. Her subject, though possessed of human thoughts, seemed more interested in talking about being a robot.

  44. Sort of on topic: Bill Maher’s interview / love fest with Bari Weiss is… strange to watch.

I’m sympathetic to both of them, to Bari Weiss for how she must feel to have people near to her killed in such a horrible way. And to Bill Maher for some of his polically incorrect stuff over the years.

And yet, in this exchange, there is a kind of nauseating dissonance (sorry for the mixed metaphor).

It’s most obvious in the “Jews compassionate / Israel strong” contrast.

It’s not clear to me if this is unawareness or bald faced bullying.

It reminds me a bit of the US’s double rhetoric of: we are the nicest / we kill anyone who is in our way.

Maher has always had plenty of dissonance with his, "I'll be un-PC and honest, but essentially toe the Liberal line".

Major dissonance on display here with his paean to religion and love of country. Next week he'll mock both, or at least the Christian angle.

I'll give him credit for indirectly mentioning Islam in this context. I don't think Weiss would touch that with a ten foot cattle prod.

Gentile whites—without help from anyone else—have repeatedly shown themselves capable of egalitarian excess. The French Revolution, the Clapham abolitionists, John Brown and his backers, the miscegenist enthusiasms of the Grimke sisters and other radical integrationists are all products of purely gentile delusion. Even if it were possible to prove that Jewish influence derailed what used to be a healthy American racial consciousness, that is a historical question not directly relevant to what they have done.

…the miscegenist enthusiasms of the Grimke sisters ….

The book was OK, but I really enjoyed the movie. Lots of period detail, a surprise twist at the end that you just don’t see coming.

Is Bill Maher being required to atone for something horrible?
His George Bush Barbar Streisand love fest is also sickening.

Damn, I saw someone comment on Barbara Streisand looking like Mel Brooks recently but I had no idea. I didn’t realize she could look (and act) anymore Jewish.

The two master minds of the operation wore bright orange jackets. I guess they were trying to not be noticed or something.

Prof, Funny but notice that no one has come up with “Urban” camouflage, you know, clothing that blends in with boarded up windows, garbage strewn around, wheel-less cars on blocks.

Epi, Great, golden border quality comment. Digging for the bottom indeed!

  99. @European-American
Sort of on topic: Bill Maher’s interview / love fest with Bari Weiss is... strange to watch.

It reminds me a bit of the US’s double rhetoric of: we are the nicest / we kill anyone who is in our way.

    https://youtu.be/U-9ry71e0fU

Sorry, but Bill Maher is about as politically incorrect as Pajama Boy.

They put more effort into explaining how Morgan Freeman got to medieval England than into teaching Kevin Costner and English accent.

Robin Hood himself almost certainly didn’t have one either.

Everybody should see this, and related videos. Present-day English pronunciation in America & England are all descended from the English of Shakespeare's day - but it's not at all clear whose is closest to the original.

Doesn't casting a Negress to portray the eponymous Italian girl defeat the purpose of performing in original pronunciation? I don't think Negroes were active in Shakespeare's company....

    It’s just like with duck hunting. These guys were being on the safe side. You need to stay visible to some other youths who may be throwing pieces of re-bar into some other Synagogue’s windows. Geeesh, shouldn’t have to explain this to a Professor. ;-}

There seems to be a genuine link between these acts, they don't seem to be random to me. Who benefits the most?

It's tied with Costner's atrocious English accent.

could they at least do something remotely possible like mentioning ethipian christians fought in the crusades…

same movie had maid marion in a ninja outfit and able to beat up Norman knights.. again at least maybe an historically possible ‘diana the huntress’ with a bow and arrow?

  108. Anonymous[216] • Disclaimer says:

Shakespeare has always been more popular in America than his home country because of the long-lived popularity of the KJV bible in the U.S.

Of course, to someone who was raised reading the KJV the archaic language of Shakespeare is perfectly natural.

Brits ditched the KJV centuries ago in favor of a succession of newer translations and in the process cut themselves off from their literary roots.
