September 2015 was a record-setting month for the iSteve blog at Unz.com, with new monthly highs in unique visits and comments. I’d like to thank all my old and new readers.
Versus September 2014, last month’s pageviews were up 45%, comments up 48%, and unique visits up 57%. Pageviews for iSteve are currently running at an 8-digit annualized rate.
Unfortunately, I also have to thank the Chancellor of Germany for committing Merkel’s Boner, which got September off to a huge start. (As I predicted, I kind of burned out after that first week of September due to exhaustion.)
Overall, pageviews were the highest since, I believe, Ron made an improvement in the mobile version so that you can use it more like the web version, and thus it no longer mandates a separate pageview to see each post.
There were 2 or 3 posts that went viral in a modest way — e.g., for a couple of days I was huge in Poland for my graphs of the U.N. Population Prospects — but viral hits added only a few percentage points to the monthly totals. In general, my stuff is remarkably anti-viral, so the growth in traffic numbers reflects little in the way of flukes, and more in the grinding business of expanding audience size and involvement through good blogging.
I wish there was an easier way for me to expand my audience, but I guess the nature of my brain is fundamentally anti-fashion, so I’m always going to be paddling against the current.
