According to the Burlington Free Press’s account, one of the Middlebury student activists attempting to hunt down Charles Murray and the Middlebury professor Allison Stanger (who interviewed Murray on closed-circuit TV from a secure location) was Emma Ronai-Durning:

Following the disruption, students scattered through the building trying to find out where the broadcast was coming from.

“We believe that his views are racist. Our goal is not to give him a platform on this campus,” student Emma Ronai-Durning said before disappearing down a stairwell.

Professor Stanger was eventually found and attacked by masked social justice vigilantes. She had to go to the hospital for a neck brace.

Ms. Emma Ronai-Durning’s Linked-In account makes interesting reading. I only recently became aware that campus activists routinely have Linked-In accounts to promote their careers in the highly competitive field of Social Justice Jihadism. Here are some of Ms. Ronai-Durning’s Linked-In hightlights:

Boy you can say that again.

I'd done what Steve did yesterday--googled her and come up with her linked in profile. She seems reasonably cute and in a earlier saner age, would be using her college years to learn a bit about her civilization and land an appropriate smart husband, then go about having a passel of smart healthy kids. (I'd be more than happy if my son was bringing home a *decent* girl of her looks and smarts to meet mom+dad.)

But ... she's been set loose from her civilizations moorings and been inculcated with a nasty ideology, and instead of being a healthy link in the chain of her civilization is a nasty destructive enemy of it.

I think of all the struggle and sacrifice of her ancestors that created a woman of her look and beauty, the wealth of knowledge and the incredible freedom and prosperity her civilization offers, and she treats it with contempt and tries to tear it down. It just pisses me off. What a nasty, foul POS. Her parents--no doubt responsible for this--must be the foulest SWPL preening, virtue signalling PC scum. We are at war with these people.

In 1973, hecklers who shut down a debate between William Rusher of National Review and William Shockley at Yale were not treated so indulgently as they are today:

Yale University suspended 11 students Friday for their alleged roles in leading disruption of an April 15 debate between controversial Stanford University professor William B. Shockley and William Rusher, publisher of the National Review.

The Yale College Executive Committee suspended the 11 students for next fall's semester, and said that they would be placed on probation upon their return in January 1975 for the spring semester. The committee said, however, that the students could apply in August for readmission for the fall term.

In addition, the executive committee decided to withhold a degree from a graduating senior, subject to review prior to the May 20 commencement date.

The disturbance occurred when 150 chanting and stomping members of the audience prevented Shockley from presenting his view on the hereditary basis of intelligence.

Arrest is the least of their problems. I actually live in the next town northeast of Middlebury, and I won't put up with their crap. Kind of a real bad area to do this kind of thing, the locals don't agree with either their ideas or tactics. Add that even our liberals here are armed (wild critter control) and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where it goes.

Yes. Though not at all covert. Not one bit.

FWIW, she gives her home town as Salem, OR, so if someone has time I don't, look in the ranks of state bureaucratic functionaries for family connections there (state capital).

Exactly. It's so easy to forget that in a past age, where Western Civilization was ruled by a different elite and a different media, she would have been a genuinely heroic individual. Her fault is only that she is not as cynical as we.

These kids plan out extra cirriculars and volunteer solely for the benefit of how it will look on their college applications and resume stsrting in junior high. Every single line on that profile was mapped out in advance based on how it would help Emma become a “future leader of America.” This is like a young Hillary in training.
    , @Autochthon
It's not really nice (i.e., altruistic) stuff:

    • Being on the ski patrol is an excuse to ski for free; sure, they do great work, but the job is 90% never-needed contingency, as it were.

    • Ditto being a lifeguard: she is chilling at a pool sunbathing and showing herself off to the buff dudes; it's not even like she is a lifeguard in southern California or Hawaii, where grueling tests are required to qualify.

    • The farmers' market? What? Selling her cookies or some such?

Impressive analogues involving sacrifice might be driving a snow plough in rural Maine or North Dakota, working cleaning pools all summer to make extra money because your parents aren't wealthy and connected (better still, joining the navy or coast guard and becoming a SAR swimmer!), or driving a tractor or baling hay on an actual farm.

All her activities are phony altruism and play disguised as work. She is selfish, narcissistic, selfish, self-centered, and selfish.

She is not, of course, by one iota, self-aware.

  8. If there is a poster child for White Privilege, Ms. Emma Ronai-Durning could be the star.

She went to an elite private high school, costing about $27K a year http://www.oregonlive.com/education/index.ssf/2014/11/best_private_high_school_in_or.html

I believe it was mentioned on another thread, Middlebury college around $65K a year. I’m guessing that year of studying abroad in China, wasn’t cheap.

Interesting the area of Oregon she is from is over 80% White, the town of Middlebury, Vt is over 90% White.

But hey she’s paid her pentenance as a member of Wonderbread:White Students for Racial Justice.

And the icing on the cake is of course her hyphenated last name.

Yeah, the "I wonder sometimes" was tongue in cheek. I went to school with these types until I couldn't stand it anymore and transferred (against my parents wishes). Even back in the late 80s/early 90s their contempt for non-wealthy whites was as plain as day.

Something must have happened to American institutions before that time, because I distinctly remember the kind of awful behavior rich kids could get away with without consequences. Either the institutions abandoned their principles or the wealthy grew so much more powerful that they could afford to abandon any sense of obligation to their less fortunate compatriots.

When Murray goes on about the virtuous behavior of these people, I just wonder what world he's living in. They strike me not as functional people and families, but rather arrogant, corrupt and paranoid. Their ceaseless attacks on our liberties, our security and even our families do not show any hint of "merit." Instead, as you suggested, they are more like wolves preying on sheep.

Maybe Murray got a taste of what it feels like to be their target, but after all the time he's invested praising them I doubt he's capable of openly admitting it.

I don’t think spending Saturdays at the farmer’s market is going to make a difference where you get hired, and I don’t think someone was in the Chinese painting club at 11 because she thought it would get her a job in her 20s. It’s more like a lot of energy that would have in previous generations gone into making and raising babies needs an outlet, so she instead spends her time supervising “snow bowls” and such. People evolved to reproduce and energy is supposed to go into that, demonize families and motherhood and other nonsense has to fill the void.

Yes. Though not at all covert. Not one bit.

FWIW, she gives her home town as Salem, OR, so if someone has time I don’t, look in the ranks of state bureaucratic functionaries for family connections there (state capital).

Her brother's name is Ari. So she's Jewish.

Odd that Steve Sailer, the Great Noticer, never notices the vicious hatred Jews have (on average) for white gentiles.

Is every single Jew a raging anti white activist? No, but the proportion of Jewish goy-haters and underminers is much higher than that of black criminals and rioters.

You will never, ever improve our circumstances unless you address the actual root problem: Jewish subversion of white gentile societies (driven by hate, envy and revenge). Black Lives Matter, the wider social justice movement, slanted poisonous media coverage, sexual perversion and the mainstreaming thereof, etc. These are all machinations of influential Jews.

I'm guessing that year of studying abroad in China, wasn't cheap.

Interesting the area of Oregon she is from is over 80% White, the town of Middlebury, Vt is over 90% White.

But hey she's paid her pentenance as a member of Wonderbread:White Students for Racial Justice.

And the icing on the cake is of course her hyphenated last name.

I wonder how long she would last on a hot summers night in the heart of Baltimore without friends and a cell phone? "no wait I'm on your side, really I am"

Middlebury's always been a very attractive town, so it must be very diverse.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 8,183 people, 2,657 households, and 1,533 families residing in the town. The population density was 209.7 people per square mile (80.9/km2). There were 2,805 housing units at an average density of 71.9 per square mile (27.7/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 94.27% White, 1.09% Black or African American, 0.28% Native American, 1.87% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.66% from other races, and 1.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.13% of the population.

  46. So to me the big take away is the picture in the highlight article (http://www.unz.com/isteve/todays-wapo-ap-follow-up-story-on-middlebury-riot-by-science-denialists-calls-charles-murray-a-white-nationalist-only-4-times/) which is pea-in-a-pod with the subject of this one.

The image is worth clicking on and expanding. Like so many other photos, under similar circumstances. All of this reminds me of a conversation I had with an elderly couple recently.

I said to them that when young adult European Americans hear what the older generation has to say about them, they get the message that the older generation doesn’t have their back, and so facing many threats and encumbered with their own vulnerabilities, their political choices should come as no surprise to older generations.

The couple was entirely mystified by this statement. So I pointed out that as early as the 1990s one could attend public college for under $1500/year, and that in the 70s, for $300/year, that in the 90s, minimum wage plus a few bucks was $7/hour, today minimum wage is still $7/hour, in the 60s and 70s there were unions and union jobs, today: not so much. With minimum wage $7-$9/hour and public college tuition $10K/year and up, “working your way” through college 3 jobs in the summer and one during the school year isn’t really in the cards anymore.

This was answered with a several decibels increase in volume, apparently when you are elderly volume is more important than facts, because they promptly argued in nearly shouting voices – no I take that back – they shouted at me, that none of this was true.

Indeed: that’s exactly what they did – they insisted none of these things were true.

And they added to it that on account of none of it being true, “ You had bet I do NOT have the backs of …!” followed by much explanation of how hard they had it when they were young.

I quietly listened to the diatribe, saying nothing, until it burned itself out, then quietly answered:

“I can assure you that young adults completely hear and understand what you are saying and what I can add is that because they correctly understand you, you should not be surprised, when young adult European Americans, make political decisions, that are hostile to you”.

I used the brief period of confusion that was the response to this to add:

“The ‘commons’ include government largess and social and legal expectations of corporations. We can afford for the commons to provide favor to 5-10% of people on the basis of what may be arbitrary criteria. We cannot afford for 45% of people to have access to the commons, and 55% to be locked out on account of their immutable status as people of European descent. Meanwhile while we favor 45% with the commons, we are handicapping 55% by denying them access to the same. If you won’t help them, no one will.”

To this they answered, “I’ll have to think about that”.

    In any case, simple conclusion:

Both SJWs and WN are caused because white people hate their children, and their grandchildren.

Absolutely right. The number of Baby Boomers and older I know who believe that anything significant has changed since their heyday (e.g., 40 years) can be counted on no fingers.

They had to contend with the military draft and no computers, and don't get these silver snowflakes started on the rigors of having to walk uphill in the snow (both ways) to a functional public school where a bully occasionally shot spitballs at them; or getting shouted at by the boss in their union factory job. They had it rough.

They swear up and down that black people are hard-working family types and that nothing is worse than "racism," but the only blacks they personally know were one dude in the Army and good old Roscoe who worked second shift with them in 1965.

Laura Southern has a book out about how Boomers "screwed" her generation. Haven't read it. My theory is they were lobotomized by post-WW2 full-spectrum antifa propaganda + economic boom.

but that impulse has been partially distorted by media/academia manipulation.

in a culture that hadn't been poisoned by Boas she'd be a benign eugenicist - as that's the only way to actually achieve "racial justice"

It’s not really nice (i.e., altruistic) stuff:

    • Being on the ski patrol is an excuse to ski for free; sure, they do great work, but the job is 90% never-needed contingency, as it were.

    • Ditto being a lifeguard: she is chilling at a pool sunbathing and showing herself off to the buff dudes; it’s not even like she is a lifeguard in southern California or Hawaii, where grueling tests are required to qualify.

    • The farmers’ market? What? Selling her cookies or some such?

Impressive analogues involving sacrifice might be driving a snow plough in rural Maine or North Dakota, working cleaning pools all summer to make extra money because your parents aren’t wealthy and connected (better still, joining the navy or coast guard and becoming a SAR swimmer!), or driving a tractor or baling hay on an actual farm.

All her activities are phony altruism and play disguised as work. She is selfish, narcissistic, selfish, self-centered, and selfish.

She is not, of course, by one iota, self-aware.

i agree "nice white lady" isn't literally nice it's virtue signalling

(it can be but that's a separate thing)

the point is their virtue signalling takes the form of what the dominant culture decides are public goods

i think it evolved as a mating cue "see how altruistic i would be with your babies"

Actually, I worry that Middlebury student Emma Ronai-Durning is racist. She seems to do things and go places chock full of white people, from her Vermont college to hanging out at ski resorts and farmers markets. (Do many African Americans play ultimate frisbee?) Yes she does visit China, but not many blacks there either.

Emma, you can disprove your racism by doing some summer volunteering in inner city Baltimore or Chicago. Good luck!

  52. Just goes to show that not all female SJW’s are unattractive losers. She’s attractive, intelligent, athletic, and no slacker. Not everyone can plop themselves down in China for a year in high school and another in college, learn the language and otherwise adapt. And no doubt she’s convinced she’s a complete do-gooder for fighting “racism”, because she cares soooo much about the underprivileged and underserved. That free speech could possibly be a factor of importance would never occur to her virtuous self. Not that there could possibly be any shortcomings to the worldview to which she subscribes.

I wouldn’t say she hates herself but there’s a certain element of guilt underlying this kind of mentality.

(I’d be more than happy if my son was bringing home a *decent* girl of her looks and smarts to meet mom+dad.)

But … she’s been set loose from her civilizations moorings and been inculcated with a nasty ideology, and instead of being a healthy link in the chain of her civilization is a nasty destructive enemy of it.

I think of all the struggle and sacrifice of her ancestors that created a woman of her look and beauty, the wealth of knowledge and the incredible freedom and prosperity her civilization offers, and she treats it with contempt and tries to tear it down. There is a recognizable and describable process through which one generation begets another, with males and females playing different albeit essential roles. That process is terminally broken in Western Civilization. Under the influence of liberal feminism, women are refusing the burden of bearing and raising children, evidently preferring cats to keep them company or otherwise projecting their mothering instincts on helping alien and hostile populations immigrate to replace them. Indeed, they are inviting the invaders to "flash mob" their borders and cities. Europe is in worse shape than other Western countries in this regard.

At the end of the day, women in Western countries have been ideologically sterilized in numbers that guarantee the end of Western Civilization within a few generations. If this was traced to a virus, we would be spending trillions to find the cure. However, since it is traced to a women's movement grounded in narcissism and the sanctity of individual choice sans consequences, we take it in stride as the new-found right to civilizational suicide.

The reality is that the ideology of feminism is more threatening to civilization than Communism ever was. Indeed, the impact of feminism on society has been worse than a nuclear laydown. If only we had recognized this sooner.

That confirms the rep from the 90s. Middlebury is apparently a good school, but it has a reputation for being exceptionally expensive, and for its students having airs of Ivy League creme de la creme aloofness. The meme that it is a training ground for vigilant (now militant) SWPLs has heft.

Middlebury’s always been a very attractive town, so it must be very diverse.

See? Three times as many blacks as there are trannies in the US, as many feather-indians, six times as many Asians…my goodness.

They don’t know anything! In particular they have no *understanding* of anything. What life was like? What people thought? What currents drove history? They might–if you’ve got a particularly smart one–know some dates. And then it’s all about “oppression”, “slavery”, “colonialism”, “exploitation”. Ask ‘em something like “what creates civilization?” … good luck. Their brains are a fog, or maybe a “bog”.

I met a girl who was doing a masters in psychology and she seemed amped by her field and eager to talk. I made simple small-talk with her about psychology. She didn't know who Freud and Jung were. Questions elicited the fact that she knew little or nothing about schizophrenia, borderline disorders, or autism. She had no knowledge of the recent DSM reclassification of Asperger's. She had never heard of the mind-body problem, Maslow's hierarchy, Laing's knot, anything. From the deer-in-the-headlights expression on her face, I got the impression that she had never heard of the DSM.

I asked her what interested her about her field. She answered money, but it came out as "the chance to help people."

Whiteness and Farmers Markets: Performances, Perpetuations, Contestations?

    Alison Hope Alkon
Department of Sociology, University of the Pacific, California, US

    Christie Grace McCullen
Department of Sociology, University of California Santa Cruz, US

Abstract:  Academics and activists highlight the potential for alternative agrifood movements to contribute to the evolving coalescence of justice and sustainability. This potential, however, is constrained by what scholars have identified as the prevalent whiteness of such movements. This paper uses ethnographic research at two northern California farmers markets to investigate how whiteness is performed and perpetuated through the movements’ discourses and practices. We found that many managers, vendors and customers hold notions of what farmers and community members should be that both reflect and inform an affluent, liberal habitus of whiteness. Although whiteness pervades these spaces, we have also witnessed individual discourses and acts of solidarity and anti-racism, as well as fledgling institutional efforts to contest white cultural dominance. We conclude by discussing the potential of farmers markets to create an anti-racist politics of food.

Her parents–no doubt responsible for this–must be the foulest SWPL preening, virtue signalling PC scum. We are at war with these people.

Comes from good stock that taught her to be generous. Her genes are good to excellent. The people who came before her are to blame for not providing a proper culture for her to slot into and make a good family life. Most people conform to the norm and this is all she is doing. Most will not swim against the tide especially women. Safe place to nest is their priority.

Out of 11 activies mentioned only one involves so called anti-racism so we can tell she is not seious about this. It gets a passing mention while her work on an organic farm gets 70 words

    Assistant Farm Manager
    Pumetan Mapu Organic Farm
    October 2013 – March 2014 (6 months)
I tended livestock, planted, harvested crops as well as working on repairs, maintenance and improvements to Infrastructure. I also maintained records and plans of our work. The ten acre farm included potato fields, a garden including the green house I helped build, pastures for cows and sheep, orchards for pigs and housing for flocks of chickens, geese, ducks, and turkeys. Throughout my time there I participated in all of these ventures on top of building a dining room for tourists.

Translation: She isn't fooling me, she is just to the left of Richard Spencer. Organic farms are located in white-topias - The Sticks.

Regarding the organic farmers markets, even the SJWs agree:

  73. Emma’s parents are both MD’s in Salem OR. Jonathan Durning is a general surgeon and Melanie Ronai is a pediatrician. Melanie’s parents are from Sydney, Australia, dad a physician, mother, who passed in 2011, a physical therapist.

Emma also experienced what must have been a pretty traumatic incident at around age 7 or 8:

<<The crash occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Highway 20, two miles west of the Hoodoo Ski Area and 22 miles west of Sisters, when an eastbound driver lost control of his car while passing on slush and sand, sliding into the path of a motor home, Oregon State Police said.

Dustin Scott Minnis, 19, was driving a 1995 Volkswagen Jetta four-door eastbound and was trying to overtake and pass other traffic on a sweeping, uphill curve when his car hit slush and sand near the center of the passing lane, causing him to slide out of control and into the path of a 24-foot Arrow motor home driven by Melanie Ronai, 38, of Salem, said OSP Lt. Andy Olson.

“Witnesses felt Minnis was driving too fast for the conditions,” Olson said after troopers from the OSP’s Bend and Albany patrol offices investigated the crash.

Minnis and a passenger, Ryan J. Wirthlin, 23, of St. Helens, were flown by Air Life helicopter to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. Wirthlin was listed in serious condition Tuesday in the hospital’s critical care unit. Another passenger, Janet Lee Douglass, 21, of Albany, died at the scene, while Minnis died upon arrival at St. Charles, Olson said.

The motor home’s driver, her husband, Jonathan Durning, and their two children were not injured in the collision.

I said to them that when young adult European Americans hear what the older generation has to say about them, they get the message that the older generation doesn't have their back, and so facing many threats and encumbered with their own vulnerabilities, their political choices should come as no surprise to older generations.

With minimum wage $7-$9/hour and public college tuition $10K/year and up, "working your way" through college 3 jobs in the summer and one during the school year isn't really in the cards anymore.

This was answered with a several decibels increase in volume, apparently when you are elderly volume is more important than facts, because they promptly argued in nearly shouting voices - no I take that back - they shouted at me, that none of this was true.

Indeed: that's exactly what they did - they insisted none of these things were true.

And they added to it that on account of none of it being true, " You had bet I do NOT have the backs of ...!" followed by much explanation of how hard they had it when they were young.

I quietly listened to the diatribe, saying nothing, until it burned itself out, then quietly answered:

"I can assure you that young adults completely hear and understand what you are saying and what I can add is that because they correctly understand you, you should not be surprised, when young adult European Americans, make political decisions, that are hostile to you".

I used the brief period of confusion that was the response to this to add:

"The 'commons' include government largess and social and legal expectations of corporations. If you won't help them, no one will."

To this they answered, "I'll have to think about that".

    In any case, simple conclusion:

Both SJWs and WN are caused because white people hate their children, and their grandchildren.

That photo is good and indeed worth looking at carefully. I see mostly strong-looking white guys with vacant stares, like zombies. They all seem like good, intelligent people, regrettably signed up for a lot of bs. It’s like the dumbest civil war of all time (I take that back: since the dawn of time, religious wars have all seemed extraordinarily dumb from the outside).

And your conversation with members of our older generation is very interesting and you make good and disturbing points. But I don’t follow how the photo relates to that conversation.

I doubt the whole SJW arms race theory. I don't think spending Saturdays at the farmer's market is going to make a difference where you get hired, and I don't think someone was in the Chinese painting club at 11 because she thought it would get her a job in her 20s. It's more like a lot of energy that would have in previous generations gone into making and raising babies needs an outlet, so she instead spends her time supervising "snow bowls" and such. People evolved to reproduce and energy is supposed to go into that, demonize families and motherhood and other nonsense has to fill the void.

I doubt the whole SJW arms race theory. I don’t think spending Saturdays at the farmer’s market is going to make a difference where you get hired

Indeed, in SJW terms it’s probably a slight negative – as are the ski and lifeguard thing.

She is conforming to two signals – the old healthy living progressive eugenicist agenda and the new anti-white one.

Every single line on that profile was mapped out in advance based on how it would help Emma become a “future leader of America.” This is like a young Hillary in training.

It could be, yes but that doesn’t refute my point because “nice white lady” isn’t literally nice – it’s virtue signalling.

    What virtues are they signalling?

They signal that they are virtuously providing what the dominant culture consider public goods.

Why would women (aka potential mothers) want to signal their altruistic nature (fake or otherwise)?

No, it functions as a display of (unique) fitness to rule - they're the only ones that really care about everyone instead of just their own like all the deplorable bigots, therefore they deserve all the status they can get. It thus also rationalizes (principally in their own minds) the dispossession cum eradication of those deplorables - i.e. the competition.

Gentlemen, we have a White Girl Problem.

Indeed, they are inviting the invaders to “flash mob” their borders and cities. Europe is in worse shape than other Western countries in this regard.

At the end of the day, women in Western countries have been ideologically sterilized in numbers that guarantee the end of Western Civilization within a few generations. If this was traced to a virus, we would be spending trillions to find the cure. However, since it is traced to a women’s movement grounded in narcissism and the sanctity of individual choice sans consequences, we take it in stride as the new-found right to civilizational suicide.

The reality is that the ideology of feminism is more threatening to civilization than Communism ever was. Indeed, the impact of feminism on society has been worse than a nuclear laydown. If only we had recognized this sooner.

    I thought about that.

I think it was Phillip Longman who pointed out that feminism is a method of population restriction. Expand women's roles and they have fewer children. And, well, how many people living like upper-middle-class Americans can we really afford?

Of course, when you let people in from less feminist, more fecund cultures...you do the math!

She went to an elite private high school, costing about $27K a year http://www.oregonlive.com/education/index.ssf/2014/11/best_private_high_school_in_or.html

I believe it was mentioned on another thread, Middlebury college around $65K a year.

    I thought about that.

I think it was Phillip Longman who pointed out that feminism is a method of population restriction. Expand women’s roles and they have fewer children. And, well, how many people living like upper-middle-class Americans can we really afford?

Of course, when you let people in from less feminist, more fecund cultures…you do the math!

Stop acting like less feminist = more fecund. There are plenty of cultures out there that are less feminist and LESS fecund than Western Civilization.

I think it was Phillip Longman who pointed out that feminism is a method of population restriction.

When the plan was put into place, it was taken for granted that the upper classes would influence the upper-middle, who would influence the working class, etc... on down the line. We did see that to a great extent among whites and those cultures influenced by them in the 20th Century. Birth rates did decline almost across the board, but not quite all the way.

The unintended consequence was that the imposition of feminism eroded that very influence over time.
    , @S. Anonyia
Weren't upper class people already having fewer children before feminism, though? I've read that the French upper classes complained about low birthrates all the way back to the late 1700s. And way before that, the patricians of Rome.

To some extent, even working class people started having fewer children decades before feminism. For instance my great grandparents were mostly 1 of 3-5 siblings, not 10 + like their grandparents were. People had a lot of kids in the early 1900s/late 1800s, but there did seem to be some planning & restraint involved, otherwise they would have had more, marrying so young in their late teens/early 20s.

I think we would still have low birthrates even if not for feminism. Which isn't a bad thing. Birth rates in Iran and Japan are pretty low and I wouldn't call them feminist countries.

Birth rates probably have more to do with urbanization, prosperity and IQ than whether women's roles are expanded.
    , @The Practical Conservative
Women can have social status, reasonable amounts of education and fecundity (5+ children). The idea that you have to choose is silly, but weirdly common.

That said, American history is that fecundity has not been our national tradition.

No, it functions as a display of (unique) fitness to rule – they’re the only ones that really care about everyone instead of just their own like all the deplorable bigots, therefore they deserve all the status they can get. It thus also rationalizes (principally in their own minds) the dispossession cum eradication of those deplorables – i.e. the competition.

I said to them that when young adult European Americans hear what the older generation has to say about them, they get the message that the older generation doesn't have their back, and so facing many threats and encumbered with their own vulnerabilities, their political choices should come as no surprise to older generations.

If you won't help them, no one will."

To this they answered, "I'll have to think about that".

    In any case, simple conclusion:

Both SJWs and WN are caused because white people hate their children, and their grandchildren.

Are you really talking about the medicare/SS tsunami? Or the pension crisis? My guess is that plenty of the commenters here are rationally taking advantage of gov’t benefits for the +65 crowd.

    Neither.
I don't begrudge retirees their benefits.
A charitable take on the attitude I was highlighting is that I think there is a old, widespread ethic among people of European stock and working and middle-class status that goes something like:

"no one owes you anything, suck it up, work".

In a context of a social-economic system where architects of that system have taken measures to be sure that affordable training, just compensation and genuine opportunities exist - and ideally abound - such an ethic is entirely understandable.

It's like: "the system has done its part, now you do yours".

But when the system has both 1) broken down so that training is not affordable, just compensation is getting increasingly rare and opportunities abound for employers to flee from granting it, and labor opportunities dry up, while at the same time 2) the very same system instead has retooled itself to provide advantages of access to the dwindling opportunities to everyone , except those of European stock ...

...so long as the older generation that enjoyed the old order maintains the same ethic in answer to its own youth, it's more or less the older saying "f-you" to the younger.

The product of this is both:

SJWs making common cause with their destroyers ("don't hurt me, don't hurt me, I'm a good one!") and
WNationalism and the nihilism it represents (culture wasn't enough so go "full racist" in copy of the very worst qualities of the opposition, leading everyone into the sewer)

I don't think it has anything to do with IQ. Or prosperity.

Birth rates drop when people have too much education and too little religion. For the upper classes that point was reached by the mid-19th century.

The enormous expansion of education which began in the 19th century was a catastrophic error. Most people do not need high school diplomas and very very few people need a university education. We need to start closing down universities. We need to close down at least three-quarters of them.

I don't know how we can undo the effects of the war against religion which has been waged relentlessly since the 18th century.

Are you really talking about the medicare/SS tsunami? Or the pension crisis? My guess is that plenty of the commenters here are rationally taking advantage of gov't benefits for the +65 crowd.

Collecting a fat pension that you only saved partially for is pretty nice. You wouldn't believe how much some former gov't employees are getting in their retirement. They definitely care not a whit for the next generations.

Are you really talking about the medicare/SS tsunami? Or the pension crisis?

    Neither.
I don’t begrudge retirees their benefits.
A charitable take on the attitude I was highlighting is that I think there is a old, widespread ethic among people of European stock and working and middle-class status that goes something like:

“no one owes you anything, suck it up, work”.

In a context of a social-economic system where architects of that system have taken measures to be sure that affordable training, just compensation and genuine opportunities exist – and ideally abound – such an ethic is entirely understandable.

It’s like: “the system has done its part, now you do yours”.

But when the system has both 1) broken down so that training is not affordable, just compensation is getting increasingly rare and opportunities abound for employers to flee from granting it, and labor opportunities dry up, while at the same time 2) the very same system instead has retooled itself to provide advantages of access to the dwindling opportunities to everyone , except those of European stock …

…so long as the older generation that enjoyed the old order maintains the same ethic in answer to its own youth, it’s more or less the older saying “f-you” to the younger.

The product of this is both:

SJWs making common cause with their destroyers (“don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, I’m a good one!”) and
WNationalism and the nihilism it represents (culture wasn’t enough so go “full racist” in copy of the very worst qualities of the opposition, leading everyone into the sewer)

  118. As long as the older generation(s):

    1) Don’t view themselves as having a culture to pass on
    2) Don’t view their own culture as worth the trouble to pass on
    3) Don’t take personal responsibility for passing that culture on
    4) Don’t take that responsibility into every arena: education, work, politics, religion, etc

Then we will have younger generations emerging who

    1) Know nothing of our pasts

    2) Owe nothing to our past, or culture

    3) Must use what resources they have to determine a strategy for personal survival

In a growing economy like the 90s and early 2000s – they’ll get jobs.

When that inevitably falls apart – they will turn to SJW and WN.

If older generations don’t like it – older generations had better step up.

SJWs are the least self-hating people there are. You might consider them part of the group which constitutes your "self", but they very much do not return the favor. That's the whole point of being SJW.

I wonder sometimes whether this kind of SJW stuff isn’t covert elite warfare on upstart working whites who might be so bold as to defend their own interests.

It's way past time to do more than wonder.

They're feeling their oats so much these days that they're not much bothering with the covert part any more.

It’s way past time to do more than wonder.

Yeah, the “I wonder sometimes” was tongue in cheek. I went to school with these types until I couldn’t stand it anymore and transferred (against my parents wishes).

When Murray goes on about the virtuous behavior of these people, I just wonder what world he’s living in. They strike me not as functional people and families, but rather arrogant, corrupt and paranoid. Their ceaseless attacks on our liberties, our security and even our families do not show any hint of “merit.” Instead, as you suggested, they are more like wolves preying on sheep.

Maybe Murray got a taste of what it feels like to be their target, but after all the time he’s invested praising them I doubt he’s capable of openly admitting it.

I said to them that when young adult European Americans hear what the older generation has to say about them, they get the message that the older generation doesn't have their back, and so facing many threats and encumbered with their own vulnerabilities, their political choices should come as no surprise to older generations.

If you won't help them, no one will."

To this they answered, "I'll have to think about that".

    In any case, simple conclusion:

Both SJWs and WN are caused because white people hate their children, and their grandchildren.

Absolutely right. The number of Baby Boomers and older I know who believe that anything significant has changed since their heyday (e.g., 40 years) can be counted on no fingers.

They had to contend with the military draft and no computers, and don’t get these silver snowflakes started on the rigors of having to walk uphill in the snow (both ways) to a functional public school where a bully occasionally shot spitballs at them; or getting shouted at by the boss in their union factory job. They had it rough.

They swear up and down that black people are hard-working family types and that nothing is worse than “racism,” but the only blacks they personally know were one dude in the Army and good old Roscoe who worked second shift with them in 1965.

Laura Southern has a book out about how Boomers “screwed” her generation. Haven’t read it. My theory is they were lobotomized by post-WW2 full-spectrum antifa propaganda + economic boom.

She’s just an insufferable *under*-educated upper middle class white. FIFY.

One of the tried and true features of this group, despite the AP classes and the liberal arts "education" is that they don't actually know anything. And i don't just mean any understanding of evolutionary biology or HBD. You can have a sit with these people and start talking about the history and culture of the West and other civilizations. They don't know anything! In particular they have no *understanding* of anything. What life was like? What people thought? What currents drove history? They might--if you've got a particularly smart one--know some dates. And then it's all about "oppression", "slavery", "colonialism", "exploitation". Ask 'em something like "what creates civilization?" ... good luck. Their brains are a fog, or maybe a "bog".

I met a girl who was doing a masters in psychology and she seemed amped by her field and eager to talk. I made simple small-talk with her about psychology. She didn’t know who Freud and Jung were. Questions elicited the fact that she knew little or nothing about schizophrenia, borderline disorders, or autism. She had no knowledge of the recent DSM reclassification of Asperger’s. She had never heard of the mind-body problem, Maslow’s hierarchy, Laing’s knot, anything. From the deer-in-the-headlights expression on her face, I got the impression that she had never heard of the DSM.

I asked her what interested her about her field. She answered money, but it came out as “the chance to help people.”

Birth rates probably have more to do with urbanization, prosperity and IQ than whether women’s roles are expanded.

I don’t think it has anything to do with IQ.

I don’t know how we can undo the effects of the war against religion which has been waged relentlessly since the 18th century.

Boot camp can take many forms. Jolting them out of their worldview may start with some hard labor, or some temporary material deprivation. I've seen many kids tone down their attitude when they have to show that they can handle some responsibility and execute a plan or program. They go in scared shitless, with much bravado to mask that, and learn a few things in the process. Too bad there isn't a type of national service draft similar to military service to help form, or begin to re-form, so many damaged and incomplete individuals.

My son and daughter wrote their college applications five and seven years ago respectively and both complained about wealthy classmates who polished up their essays with references to the exotic places in which they had performed various rescues. At the time, I didn't tie it to SJW career signaling, but now it's obvious that they were pandering to college SJWs. One kid trying to get admission to Carnegie Mellon in computer science spent a week somewhere in Africa teaching poor kids computer programming. It wasn't just trying to buy your way in, as I thought at the time.

This SJW work for college application purposes features in one of Tom Wolfe’s novels, I Am Charlotte Simmons I think.

Women can have social status, reasonable amounts of education and fecundity (5+ children). The idea that you have to choose is silly, but weirdly common.

That said, American history is that fecundity has not been our national tradition.

With a small chance she is working on cool digital mapping tech. Geography is a pretty good choice for backing away from the math (to whatever degree) in STEM since it ranges from conceptual with little/no math to some fairly hard core math aspects in parts of digital mapping.

There are a couple of trends that don’t map well to academic careers. Logistics and geo data, for example.

There are engineering and data/IT majors. With the growth of big data, I think there is a lot of stuff to do. You don’t need many people to do the heaviest lifting — math/science. But there is tons of applied work to do. And then, at some point, it will be built into everything. Geo coding will be like time. Obvious and available everywhere as a utility … like air.

Look at Trimble and Zebra … two public companies that are in that general space.

“They swear up and down that black people are hard-working family types”

Than why did most White Baby Boomers vote for Donald J. Trump while most White Millennials voted for Crooked Cankles. I am to the political Right of the majority of White people who were born in 1985, the year I was born. Most White people who share my political views are older than me. You don’t see a lot of Millennial looking people at pro-Trump rallies.

Sooooo my non-academic hunch why China seems to be interested in Jews/Israel...well, Jews have always been survivors that can form a business of some kind (I mean, China way, way overbuilt apartment buildings in cities no one really wants to live in!). So, maybe the Chinese want to learn what the Jews seem to know intrinsically, about how not to develop. Ok, said it. Bro, don't taze me!

Her genes are good to excellent.

That is some magic doctoring. You must be a walking human genome decoder.

It’s amazing how a picture of a half-decent looking girl turns men into instant online Ph.D.’s in biology.

Finally, this little bit of projection (just WHO is "obsessed with Jews," again?):

Just to mess with you guys tonight…you know who I mean :) …Helsinki was the first city to allow Jews to own property in Scandinavia; I believe 1846…to “grow” the new state capital. And, crap, Helsinkians needed shoes, clothes, and dentists, medicines, insurance accountants, etc.

Sooooo my non-academic hunch why China seems to be interested in Jews/Israel…well, Jews have always been survivors that can form a business of some kind (I mean, China way, way overbuilt apartment buildings in cities no one really wants to live in!). So, maybe the Chinese want to learn what the Jews seem to know intrinsically, about how not to develop. Ok, said it. Bro, don’t taze me!

According to Twinkie, this is one of my half-drunken analyses. But seriously, are all those high rises in unpronounceable cities still relatively empty? Does anyone remember that 60 Minutes show about these high rises?

China and Israel have had military technology dealings in the past. We gave Israelis advanced military technologies (obviously with the agreement not to resell without our permission), and the Israelis turned around and sold some of them to Red China. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China%E2%80%93Israel_relations#Military_cooperation

In case my "The Cantonese Candidate" remark wasn't clear, let me elaborate. My suspicion is that the Yu Foundation is an indirect arm of the Chinese government (in other words, the communist party) that hands out internships to Westerners in order to spread its "soft power" - create a group of China-friendly Western cadres, unofficial lobbyists for China, if you will.

Of course, China isn't the only country that does this. Just about every country that is interested in influencing the U.S. government and the U.S. public at large does this, including Israel. Most are framed as "cultural exchanges" with "future leaders" of America. One of the rites of passage for a rising pol in the U.S. is to be invited to visit Israel, funded via some foundation indirectly supported by the Israeli government or by the Israeli lobby in the U.S.

Now China is on this long-term PR campaign program big time. Its government is also funding the effort to spread Chinese language proficiency in the U.S.

"Fellow white people" is a cant form of address used exclusively by crypto (and not so crypto) Jews. Well-known among based millennials (many jokes about it).

Not exclusively. Not by a longshot. Usually, though, the “fellow” part is implied.

I am referring to a specific phrase, all three words in this exact order:

    1. "Fellow"
    2. "White"
    3. "People"

If you dig into the tweets, Facebook postings, or other social media expressions written by all individuals who use that specific phrase there or elsewhere, you will, absolutely without exception, find the individual referring to his or her Jewish identity (e.g., something about what they did during Hannukah or before shabbos, how much they miss Jewish summer camp, et al.). I'm serious. This is an iron law. It never fails.

That specific phrase has become a dark joke among aware people below the age of 50.

I’m not sure that they’re very happy people though.

Indeed they're terrified. They've done everything every authority figure in their lives has told them to do, and yet they're still at great risk of losing all the status to which they've become accustomed, and in which their families have invested a quarter of a million dollars.

Boot camp can take many forms. Jolting them out of their worldview may start with some hard labor, or some temporary material deprivation. I’ve seen many kids tone down their attitude when they have to show that they can handle some responsibility and execute a plan or program. They go in scared shitless, with much bravado to mask that, and learn a few things in the process. Too bad there isn’t a type of national service draft similar to military service to help form, or begin to re-form, so many damaged and incomplete individuals.

    What’s happened to Vermont?

    Ask Bernie.

I'm sure the view from his 2016-purchased Champlain lakefront third home is that Vermont is doing just dandy. (In addition to owning houses in DC and Burlington.)

I mean, that was a tidy quarter-mil golden parachute his wife got from wrecking Burlington College. A deed accomplished by playing into a Catholic diocesan real estate bubble scam and buying up 32 lakefront acres formerly held by the diocese in a very badly leveraged deal. (The diocese was having a fire sale to pay off its defense attorneys in abuse-related lawsuits.)

Vermont is full of people like that. They couldn't run a bake sale, never mind a state or nation. But somehow they end up with third houses with 500 feet of mountain view private lake front at 2.5x the county median housing price tag.

Just as there are many Canadians working in Seattle/Washington State, there are many people from Vermont working in New Hampshire. Given that NH is not exactly an economic powerhouse (though it’s fairly egalitarian and affluent on average), that’s saying a lot.

In the midst of that, Middlebury is a fantasy land on campus.

It's amazing how a picture of a half-decent looking girl turns men into instant online Ph.D.'s in biology.

You have no clue what her actual genetic workup looks like or whether she is healthy or has any genetic defects. The only thing you know from her looks is whether you find her attractive or not.

Admit you would be charmed to have her as your waitress at your favorite sushi restaurant.
