From The Guardian:

Want to fight climate change? Have fewer children

Carbon footprints
Next best actions are selling your car, avoiding flights and going vegetarian, according to study into true impacts of different green lifestyle choices

Can you bring yourself to have one fewer of these?

Funny how The Guardians’ rules about diversity in stock images don’t apply in the case of this article about having fewer babies.

by Damian Carrington Environment editor
Wednesday 12 July 2017 00.45 EDT

The greatest impact individuals can have in fighting climate change is to have one fewer child, according to a new study that identifies the most effective ways people can cut their carbon emissions.

The next best actions are selling your car, avoiding long flights, and eating a vegetarian diet. These reduce emissions many times more than common green activities, such as recycling, using low energy light bulbs or drying washing on a line. However, the high impact actions are rarely mentioned in government advice and school textbooks, researchers found.

Carbon emissions must fall to two tonnes of CO2 per person by 2050 to avoid severe global warming, but in the US and Australia emissions are currently 16 tonnes per person and in the UK seven tonnes.

Of course, according to the UN’s World Population Prospects 2017 forecast data released last month, a few less or a few more white babies aren’t going to bend the curve much in the 21st Century. Africans and (to a lesser extent) Middle Easterners, on the other hand …

un_population_2017_europe_vs_me-africa

Here’s a super simple graph from my new Taki’s Magazine column, “The Case for Continentalism,” showing that the UN’s medium consensus estimate is that the population of Europe, which outnumbered Africa and the Middle East two to one in 1950 is expected to decline to only about 13% of the five billion Africans and Middle Easterners by 2100.

One thing you could do to lower carbon emissions is to stand up for protection of borders and immigration restriction. In 2010 in VDARE, I did the math on why mass immigration is expected to be a major cause of increased greenhouse gas emissions.

    Yes!

Whiteness is associated with negativity, nihilism etc.

If there is to be a message about annoying children, poorly performing schools - then white kids are used in the imagery.

And when it comes to crime. . .

Try google image search for "knife crime" or "mugger". An alien visiting Earth would be under the impression that he should steer well clear of whitey.

  7. For once, The Guardian is right … except the photo delivers the obvious subliminal message that population reduction is incumbent on whites, not Persons of Color. Back in the 1970s, population bomb exploitation master Paul Ehrlich added an addendum to his hysteria that blacks were exempt from self-restraint in reproduction, thereby cutting Zero Population Growth off at the knees. The organization (and the movement) never recovered.

As I keep saying, one way to fight this is for race conscious whites to have more children provided we can afford to raise them. The job begins with us.

The Grauniad is helping to amplify the effect by terminating future self-hating whites (their readership) before they get to the embryo stage. Good work Grauniad! The Daily Mail is doing the same for the Dindus, which is nice to see.

    , @Achmed E. Newman

... to have more children provided we can afford to raise them.

That requires a society in which one group is not required under rule of law gunpoint to redistribute large chunks of the family income to other groups that don't necessarily work as hard. It's especially bad when the latter group IS NOT responsible about having children only when it can be reasonably afforded, while the former group IS.

Try talking against socialism to this crowd. It goes over like a David Duke comedy monologue at the Apollo Theater. "NO, socialism/free-markets don't matter, it's all the genetics!" they say. Sure, a lot is genetics, but that doesn't help when you can't afford to have kids that you can take good care of, because years of your life are being lost working for other groups to get free stuff and have 3 x as many babies!

What do I mean by years of your life? Someone on some blog (I have CRS* syndrome, so I can't recall) put this very well. Any hours that you work, unless your job IS your life (that much fun) that goes to taxes that don't help YOU adds up to years of your life being stolen. Your labor is the economic value of your life.

    * For those who need the glossary, not Autochthon, CRS syndrome is Can't Remember Shit.

I question the wisdom of the vegetarian diet thing too. Much of the American West is rangeland. Raising beef is the natural fit. I would like to see someone prove, rigorously, that with respect to yield per acre vs. cost of growing crops on all the land in America vegetables would produce more kilocalories, protein and fat than beef.

People pushing this program want the plebeian masses to resign themselves to a diet of bland slurried vegetables while the David Brooks of the world enjoy lobster, hand-massaged beef etc.

That might have been true a hundred or more years ago when cattle grazed across the range. Today, they're fed corn on feedlots, corn that has to be sown, fertilized, watered, harvested, transported, etc. Plus the cows fart methane. The math on the carbon footprint of meat is at least pretty internally rigorous.

  14. The Guardian *is* probably intentionally dodging controversial calls for Africa to reduce birth rates. I don’t think they are trying to specifically reduce white birth rates at all. That is ridiculous. I don’t fault that article or even the picture. This crowd should appreciate them drawing attention to the issue at all.

Environmentalists really do cite population growth as the primary environmental threat. Here is just the first site from my google search, but there are many more: http://planetearthherald.com/top-10-environmental-issues/

    #1. Population:

Without a doubt the biggest issue facing the environment is over population of humans. All other major environmental issues flow from the very fact that we are over populating the planet.

The worlds population has tripled in the last 60 years placing stress on every aspect of the environment. More land is developed every day to accommodate the urban spread.

In 1950 the population stood at 2,555,982,611 compared to 2016 which it now stands at over 7,481,000,000. The actual maths is that the worlds population has increased by almost 3 times. That is staggering when you think about it. That figure is increasing even as we speak!

While politicians, particularly left wing politicians, have made the environment a major sound bite talking point, they only discuss on terms that coincide with political self-interest. Population concerns are the #1 environmental threat, but are quite opposite of left wing political interests, so they don’t mention them at all.

Also, people in the developed world consume much more energy per capita than the developing world, so any large scale human migration that moves people from the developing societies to the developed societies will obviously increase energy consumption and is quite environmentally unfriendly. Again, this goes against the left wing policy interests, so you don’t hear it.

The fact that only environmental concerns that coincide with left wing politics are heard in mainstream discourse tells me that the left wing political interests are more effective at controlling narrative and the terms of public discussion.

    "Ridiculous" how?

Why would they have a stock photo of three white babies, who make up, what, less than 10% of births in the world and are fewer than the number of whites dying?

If only whites inhabited the world, the world population would be falling; therefore, your assertion is ass-backwards, it's ridiculous that anyone wouldn't think that the Guardian didn't consider the color of the babies.

They are guilting their readers - whites - into having less kids because they know that blacks and browns would never listen to them.

You, sir, are projecting your good intentions onto bad people.

  16. *Every* form of pollution grows with the human population. If the global human population doubles, every form of pollution will roughly double:

    - Greenhouse gas emission. This is the most discussed and politicized form of pollution.
    - Trash output, landfills, plastics, pollution in the oceans.
    - Toxic metals and nuclear waste.
    - Air pollution.
    - Land use.
    - Overfishing and overforesting.
    - Agricultural pollution from livestock and farming for human consumption.

Another big AGREE here - I've seen where the municipal governments will be so proud - "we are recycling 50 % of our garbage now! We are greener than Kermit the Frog cooked in a 55 gallon drum of pea soup!"

    Well:

    1) A bunch of stuff that goes to the transfer station in the BIG recycling cans ends up going back into the real trash, if it's not usable metals, glass, and paper.

    2) Now that the city has grown to double the size due to the influx of immigrants, we are back to SQUARE ONE. The landfills are receiving just as much mass as they had before any recycling was going on and adding to the city budget.

    3) The whole running out of room for landfills line is a bunch of crapola, anyway. There's plenty of room for a new landfill. It's just that with NIMBY and expanding exurbs, the landfill must be farther away, costing more money to use (every trip with the truck costs more). Just admit it - it's a budget thing. That's fine, but if the recycling costs more than increasing room in the landfill does, including transportation, then it shouldn't be the policy.

California is a perfect example of what doubling the population costs in quality of life and eventually environmental destruction. "They called it Paradise. I don't know why you call someplace Paradise and kiss it goodbye."

(There still is one Paradise there, somewhere up near Susanville.)

Although it would seem with plant respiration etc there would be a lot of capacity for the planet to self-correct.

Of course, these people know no science, but they ARE clever (or pushy) enough to have everyone, even smart people on unz, using the word EMISSIONS. Why, because that has connotations of something bad escaping. It shouldn't really, as radiation heat transfer is called emissions, but it does.

This makes the public have an idea of a perfectly natural gas, primary in keeping plants alive, and the output of animals' respiratory cycles, as being a POLLUTANT. I've said this before, but I think that some of the people behind this Global Climate Disruption(TM) scam know that there are people who confuse CO2 with CO, which is indeed a poison.

More here on the political aspect and many scientists complicity in letting this GCD(TM) BS go on for decades.

The Guardian *is* probably intentionally dodging controversial calls for Africa to reduce birth rates. I don't think they are trying to specifically reduce white birth rates at all. That is ridiculous. I don't fault that article or even the picture.

Population concerns are the #1 environmental threat, but are quite opposite of left wing political interests, so they don't mention them at all.

Also, people in the developed world consume much more energy per capita than the developing world, so any large scale human migration that moves people from the developing societies to the developed societies will obviously increase energy consumption and is quite environmentally unfriendly. Again, this goes against the left wing policy interests, so you don't hear it.

The fact that only environmental concerns that coincide with left wing politics are heard in mainstream discourse tells me that the left wing political interests are more effective at controlling narrative and the terms of public discussion.

I don’t think they are trying to specifically reduce white birth rates at all. That is ridiculous.

    “Ridiculous” how?

Why would they have a stock photo of three white babies, who make up, what, less than 10% of births in the world and are fewer than the number of whites dying?

If only whites inhabited the world, the world population would be falling; therefore, your assertion is ass-backwards, it’s ridiculous that anyone wouldn’t think that the Guardian didn’t consider the color of the babies.

They are guilting their readers – whites – into having less kids because they know that blacks and browns would never listen to them.

You, sir, are projecting your good intentions onto bad people.

I don't think it's "ridiculous" - far from it - but using a photo of three white babies could have resulted from a simple desire to avoid accusations of racism. That is, they needn't have harbored any desire to further lower white fertility.

It sucks that this is how it works. If I could wave my magic wand and eliminate all anti-whitism I'd do it in a heartbeat. But for the time being it's true.

Exactly. did the carbon cycle go away when we weren't looking? More CO2 in the air means better crop yields and a greener earth. More grass for my cattle to walk around and eat all day. yummy.

I can't wait to be a grandma. Good thing I had children first.

At what point does the better crop yield region of the CO2 graph give way to the venutian hellscape region? The Permian extinction, where 95%+ of all species died, was only associated with something like a 5 degree Celsius temperature increase. Although it would seem with plant respiration etc there would be a lot of capacity for the planet to self-correct.

But in the short term, global warming looks like a fairly pro-white deal. No wonder the leftists hate it so much, it threatens Africa’s 6 billion future refugees. Guess it’s time to light up all those old tires lying around the backyard.

The left is such an amazing contradiction. They so badly want to save the earth that they advocate self-termination, inadvertently handing all of their overly-emotional, exhaustive concern trolling about Mother Gaia off to people who think nothing of throwing McDonald wrappers in the Grand Canyon, or heaping cigarette butts on their precious beaches.

To hell with the left. Those of us raising kids (this family is up to three, working on number four) who are unafraid of leveling their rifles will be the ones to keep this land. It’s always been that way.

That requires a society in which one group is not required under rule of law gunpoint to redistribute large chunks of the family income to other groups that don’t necessarily work as hard. It’s especially bad when the latter group IS NOT responsible about having children only when it can be reasonably afforded, while the former group IS.

Try talking against socialism to this crowd. It goes over like a David Duke comedy monologue at the Apollo Theater. “NO, socialism/free-markets don’t matter, it’s all the genetics!” they say. Sure, a lot is genetics, but that doesn’t help when you can’t afford to have kids that you can take good care of, because years of your life are being lost working for other groups to get free stuff and have 3 x as many babies!

What do I mean by years of your life? Someone on some blog (I have CRS* syndrome, so I can’t recall) put this very well. Any hours that you work, unless your job IS your life (that much fun) that goes to taxes that don’t help YOU adds up to years of your life being stolen. Your labor is the economic value of your life.

    * For those who need the glossary, not Autochthon, CRS syndrome is Can’t Remember Shit.

Another big AGREE here – I’ve seen where the municipal governments will be so proud – “we are recycling 50 % of our garbage now! We are greener than Kermit the Frog cooked in a 55 gallon drum of pea soup!”

    Well:

    1) A bunch of stuff that goes to the transfer station in the BIG recycling cans ends up going back into the real trash, if it’s not usable metals, glass, and paper.

There’s plenty of room for a new landfill. It’s just that with NIMBY and expanding exurbs, the landfill must be farther away, costing more money to use (every trip with the truck costs more). Just admit it – it’s a budget thing. That’s fine, but if the recycling costs more than increasing room in the landfill does, including transportation, then it shouldn’t be the policy.

California is a perfect example of what doubling the population costs in quality of life and eventually environmental destruction. “They called it Paradise. I don’t know why you call someplace Paradise and kiss it goodbye.”

(There still is one Paradise there, somewhere up near Susanville.)

That might have been true a hundred or more years ago when cattle grazed across the range. Today, they’re fed corn on feedlots, corn that has to be sown, fertilized, watered, harvested, transported, etc. Plus the cows fart methane. The math on the carbon footprint of meat is at least pretty internally rigorous.

That's why grass-fed beef is the way, but I can see that might be a problem in the Midwest in winter. In the UK and Ireland we have a lot of good grass, and in winter when it's wet (and the beasts mire up the fields unless indoors) you can use silage (i.e. fermented grass) or hay.

Sheep are another UK meat that is AFAIK 100% grass fed, and thrive in mountain areas where you simply couldn't grow anything else (except trees) on a large scale. Totally green and sustainable, any CO2 or methane from them was extracted very recently from the atmosphere by grass.

The comments show that natural selection is alive and well, taking place faster than ever.

"My emissions are about 2.5t, I have had a vasectomy (have no kids), I vote Greens and engage with friends, family and peers, there is nothing more I can do. "

The ironic thing is that it’s the victims of this clever strategy who tell each other how very clever they are, when they’re not mocking the ‘breeders’.

That’s why grass-fed beef is the way, but I can see that might be a problem in the Midwest in winter. In the UK and Ireland we have a lot of good grass, and in winter when it’s wet (and the beasts mire up the fields unless indoors) you can use silage (i.e. fermented grass) or hay.

Sheep are another UK meat that is AFAIK 100% grass fed, and thrive in mountain areas where you simply couldn’t grow anything else (except trees) on a large scale. Totally green and sustainable, any CO2 or methane from them was extracted very recently from the atmosphere by grass.

... to have more children provided we can afford to raise them.

I know the situation sucks, but most of the fairly middle class people I know limit the number of children they have for sanity/lifestyle reasons, not for financial reasons or so it seems.

It's pretty intertwined and that's why you have "so it seems" in there probably. More money does a lot to alleviate some of the sanity/lifestyle problems. I'm not even talking about live-in nannies and that lever (upper middle class stuff).

It's more like, "well, we like our lifestyle in this gentrified area with all the coffee shops and edgy loft apartments, but we both love kids too. However, to have kids, we can't stay here, as it's too dangerous in the streets for innocent little ones, and the schools will be worse. So moving to the 'burbs is inconvenient and expensive". Imagine if one could raise kids in the inner city - see, that's laughable on it's face unless you are rich in NYC, but it would not have been laughable in 1917 or even 1957. Sad - tweet tweet.

Keep in mind, that if you had that 25 % more net income that had been going to various governments to raise other people's kids, you could do a lot more to keep life sane and not a rat race. Maybe the wife could stay at home where (90% chance) she belongs and be happier. You could come home to a house that's taken care of. The thing about this, is that this is even possible today, because, when you work out all the taxes and other expenses for 2 people commuting to work, you may be surprised that you aren't that far behind being old-fashioned. However, people are too weak-willed to give up the 2nd car, long-distance vacations, and cable channels, and they are too brainwashed to know what is even possible.

Re vegetarianism, a recent study showed that if you measure per nutritional calorie rather than per calorie, carbonated beverages and other HFCS products are the real low-hanging fruit and raising cattle compares much more favorably because of nutritional density of animal products.

Re children, let's Peter-Singer-ize this issue--other people's kids are just as "important" as our own, so we ought to get other people to stop having kids (especially NAMs).

To try to put your two points together in a synergy, if I may, how about this: We prioritize making OTHER people’s kids stop eating High Fructose Corn Syrup. Think of the benefits – school buses can be lighter and have smaller engines, reducing, GASP, “emissions” of this one product of combustion (the other being water). Girls will still be sexy when they turn 20 y.o., meaning more sex, meaning more kids – oops, as long as they are not white … wait. OK, I’m still working on this ….

    This is garbage:

The figure was calculated by totting up the emissions of the child and all their descendants, then dividing this total by the parent’s lifespan. Each parent was ascribed 50% of the child’s emissions, 25% of their grandchildren’s emissions and so on.

So, like, CO2 emitted into the atmosphere has NOWHERE TO GO, so, like, IT STAYS THERE FOREVER.

I mean, it's like INFINITE SERIES which is MATH! which is better than SCIENCE!

Of course, these people know no science, but they ARE clever (or pushy) enough to have everyone, even smart people on unz, using the word EMISSIONS. Why, because that has connotations of something bad escaping. It shouldn’t really, as radiation heat transfer is called emissions, but it does.

This makes the public have an idea of a perfectly natural gas, primary in keeping plants alive, and the output of animals’ respiratory cycles, as being a POLLUTANT. I’ve said this before, but I think that some of the people behind this Global Climate Disruption(TM) scam know that there are people who confuse CO2 with CO, which is indeed a poison.

More here on the political aspect and many scientists complicity in letting this GCD(TM) BS go on for decades.

In fairness, I'd recommend readers visit the comments section of the article.

This is one of a series of Guardian articles talking about population increases (one of which predictably damns Le Gigolo for noticing that Africans breed too much and have civilisational "issues".)

A lot of the commentators make the point being made here that it's not whites having too many kids -- it's Africans and other Third World denizens.

Some of these commentators (like -- cough -- me) are trolling; but a significant number are bona fide Guardian readers (i.e. people who actually agree with the Guardian's politics).

Apparently, even some of the cucked are actually waking up.

Celt, it’s great you have the patience to do that. You are not trolling though, not by the common definition, since you’ve been writing the truth. Listen, I know trolls. History belongs to those who show up for it. That is the only truth you need to keep in mind when considering whether or not to have kids. Fail to reproduce and pass on your legacy, and all those wonderful ideas of yours vaporize forever.

It's always been that way.

Your nom de plume is very appropriate.

I don’t think it’s “ridiculous” – far from it – but using a photo of three white babies could have resulted from a simple desire to avoid accusations of racism. That is, they needn’t have harbored any desire to further lower white fertility.

It sucks that this is how it works. If I could wave my magic wand and eliminate all anti-whitism I’d do it in a heartbeat. But for the time being it’s true.
