Not much poverty, Southern or otherwise, at the Southern Poverty Law Center.

The lucrative SPLC had another solid gold year, although down slightly from the bonanza that was 2017. From the Washington Free Beacon:

Southern Poverty Surpasses Half Billion in Assets; $121 Million Now Offshore
Reports $518 million in total assets despite $21 million fall in donations

BY: Joe Schoffstall

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a far-left nonprofit known for its “hate group” designations, has surpassed a half billion dollars in total assets and now has $121 million parked offshore, according to the group’s most recent financial statements.

The SPLC, which is based in Montgomery, Ala., has not publicly posted its most recent financial statements on its website. However, the organization applied for renewal in the state of California days ago and submitted a number of documents pertaining to its financial standing including its most recent audited statement and tax forms for calendar year 2018, which covers Nov. 1, 2017 to Oct. 31, 2018.

According to the filings submitted to California’s Office of Attorney General, the group reported total assets of $518 million from November 2017 to the Oct. 31, 2018, an increase of $41 million from the $477 million in total assets it reported on its previous year’s tax forms.

Wouldn’t net assets (now $492 million) be the most relevant number?

The SPLC’s assets increased despite its total revenue falling by $15 million last year.

The SPLC’s fiscal year starts on November 1st, so its 2017 year began a week before Trump won. That was the fiscal year it rained solid gold on the SPLC.

… Last year, the Daily Caller reported the SPLC partnered with tech giants such as Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Twitter to help the companies determine who are “hate groups.” PayPal had also partnered with the SPLC to help determine who should be “blacklisted” from their company.

Inspired by Reg Caesar and Joe Strummer:

That’s Montgomery Grift, honey!

That’s net known assets. We have no idea how much they have in offshore accounts. I start from the assumption that it’s equal to what they have over here.

AIPAC – big Jewish Money operation to slander Palestinians & Iranians and to get whites on the side of Jews against Arabs/Muslims.

$PLC – big Jewish Money operation to slander whites & Christians and to get non-whites on the side of Jews against whites/Christians.

With all that money, Jews got it all covered.

The first time I heard of Morris Dees and the SPLC IIRC was when he sued a San Diego television repairman and tax protester, Tom Metzger, back in 1990 for $10 million. Odd that Dees had to go to San Diego to find a defendant for his lawsuits against the KKK when, according to his organization, the South was still teeming with Klansmen but most of them were already FBI informants or some guy shooting his mouth off in a bar. Slim pickings for a trial attorney so Dees, apparently, turned the SPLC into a fundraising vehicle since he knew there was no KKK to speak of and anyone he could identify as a self professed klansman had no money.

Obviously he has been very successful raising money to fight organized right wing hate group because they don’t exist so he has to invent boogeymen to justify his fundraising. I suppose if the SPLC could find a right wing hate group with millions in assets he wouldn’t have to sue San Diego TV repairmen for money but they can’t so the SPLC is fundraising machine without a cause… unless it looked over its left shoulder. Maybe George Soros or the Nation of Islam are what the SPLC is really looking for if they were really looking.

  6. $518 million. That should make them a nice fat target for all of the perfectly legitimate political organizations that have been blacklisted from Facebook Etc due to SPLC’s bogus designation of them as hate groups.

Weren’t Richard Spencer & Friends supposed to start up a new digital payment service a few years ago called ‘Hatreon’? Or is my memory failing me?

I had always vaguely heard the origin myth of the SPLC – that they once upon a time had sued the KKK and bankrupted it, taking its assets.

Later I learned that this vaunted legal victory was simply a “default judgment.” Meaning that whoever they sued simply didn’t show up in court, either because they couldn’t afford a lawyer or they thought that defending the suit wasn’t worth the effort.

So Dees basically got an uncontested judgment when the other side failed to answer the complaint, which he used to seize the trailer house where some yahoos met to drink beer. His whole media reputation seems to be based on this one pretty pathetic legal victory

I understand why the SPLC accepts all that money, but I don’t understand why anyone would give it all that money. Does anyone know the largest donors to the SPLC? Maybe if I knew the ‘who’, I’d have a better understanding of the ‘why’.

Let’s cut the crap & call them what they now truly are: a hedge fund disguised as a charity to dodge taxes….

  13. TheJester says:

Given that the SPLC is run by Jews and Jews are its primary donors, can we be sure the SPLC is not structured as a gigantic, tax-deductible, “slush fund”? The fund would be used to shape and control the narrative/megaphone if and when the tide turns against the Jewish domination of American social, economic, and political life … much like the SPLC is doing today in its attacks against “hate” speech, loosely translated as anything threatening Jewish and Israeli interests. Call it the “Holocaust Prevention Fund”. The $121 million stashed offshore would be an insurance policy — emergency funds — to be used in a worst-case scenario.

If the funds do not exist for those purposes, the much vaunted Ashkenazi intelligence quotient (IQ) is on holiday. The sad part is that the body politic in American is already too intimidated to see it.

  14. SPLC, meet AOC and her proposed “wealth tax.”

Now repeat with gusto: “diversity is our strength”

Now, if y’all just donate to mah baby brother Jeb’s 2020 primary campaign we just might make all this unpleasantness go away . . .

Why, it would be an act of love . . .

  15. wep says:

Is the SPLC a terrorist organization or would a RICO investigation be in order?

It has both conscious donors, who are using it as a kind of extragovernmental stasi force because that’s their ideology, and dupes, who send money because they believe the hysterical propaganda. This country is full of traitors who hate the Constitution (who tend to have money) and TV-trusters who honestly accept the idea of hordes of invisible Russians and/or Nazis (who tend to have less money but who conscientiously give it like low-level NPR donors).

    @Digital Samizdat

No, I believe Hatreon was supposed to be a crowdfunding site for dissident authors and artists. But it still relied on a digital payment platform like Paypal and on banks to work. They shut it down.

  22. @Bitfu

I can’t answer for the biggest givers, but I know people in my extended family who donate to the SPLC, which I’m sure they only have the vaguest, rose-tintiest understanding of, and yes, they are dictionary definition Goodwhites.

Why do they donate? Most of their discretionary income and discretionary time is devoted to virtue signalling, so this is a piece of that.

Why do they live like that? Beats the f**k out of me. Brainwashed from birth I guess.

  23. Ahhh the 503C organization, legalized corruption. 1. All the earnings are tax free 2. For many that donate it’s a tax write-off 3. For those with appreciated assets, that would have substantial capital gains taxes if they sold them, can donate them instead and not be taxed. 4. Same for estate taxes, donate the assets and no estate taxes. Finally donate enough or create your own 503C family foundation say like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, you not only get all of those tax savings, you can employee friends and family for life with made up “director” jobs and generate happy positive PR on the funds you donated towards merry-go-round play equipment that doubles as water pumps for wells in Africa, so many social justice Pokemon points.

Many conventional conservatives tend to be surprised at my dislike of 503C’s, but educated speculation says most of the $$$ in these organizations and universities etc., are geared to more liberal and progressive causes.

  24. What’s Trump’s DoJ doing instead of going after the SPLC for the fraud of collecting a half-billion dollars for no purpose? Do Eric Holder’s appointees still determine what gets prosecuted? AntiFa has been running amok for two years at pro-Trump and Trump-ally rallies as well. Something is not right with the entirety of the Trump administration, and much of the responsibility lies with the bizarre acquiescence of the GOP at every level to the Left.
