I explained to her that there simply isn’t enough actual oppression for them to use to stir up animus, so they increasingly have to pretend we’re still living in the Jim Crow era.

  13. Since they’re trying to complete the gentrification of the inner cities, they have to have someplace suitably far away to move all the blacks. Using section-8 vouchers (or the equivalent), they will move them all into the crumbling, first-tier suburbs founded back in the sixties, when hordes of terrified lower-middle-class whites fled the growing anarchy in the newly desegregated downtowns of America. And if those whites now dare complain about their present neighborhoods turning into the same type of warzones their ancestors fled back then, they will be dismissed as racists for living in red-lined suburban paradises who are finally getting their ‘just’ deserts.

And so another cycle commences …

  15. @Tom-in-VA

Tom-in-VA’s comment should be more amplified.

It is critical for our future as white Americans to acknowledge that suburbs and exurbs, as practiced since the New Deal, are indeed stupid. We just need to acknowledge the real reasons for their historical existence.

    1) Social engineering against whites, especially politically conservative (albeit Democrat) Catholics. The traditionalist Catholic writer E. Michael Jones has written books about this “ethnic cleansing of cities.” He is extreme, but not entirely wrong here. Robert Moses, a Jew, certainly seemed to have a grudge against Catholics and “WASPs.”
    2) Tied in with the destruction of solid urban communities, the destruction of solid rural communities.
    3) Property taxes! Property taxes, which here in PA go to schools filled with homosexual propaganda, encourage bad use of rural *and* urban land.
    4) FDR, whose administration was filled with Soviet spies (including, crucially, the treasury), started the Federal Housing Authority, which was a key part of our ….
    5) ….Modern fiat currency, speculative economy, which builds houses to a glut.
    6) Highway subsidies. The federal government (and certain state govts like NY) subsidized highways. Meanwhile, for years after WW2, it penalized private railroads by refusing to let them cut unprofitable lines and do other things to modernize.

The suburb was a creation of the liberal agenda for the purpose of destroying vestiges of tradition in America. And, boy, did it ever work!

More Americans should read Jane Jacobs – a prophetess of urban destruction – and Wendell Berry – a voice of rural tradition. The suburb is a partly purposeful assault on rural and urban working class cultures.

P.S. I also recommend that everyone read this, to understand the different types of suburban “development.” http://www.theamericanconservative.com/urbs/theres-no-such-thing-as-suburbia/

The “coalition of the ascendant” is entirely based in negative identity. It defines itsself solely in terms of what it claims not to be. It is also entirely backward looking.

The increasing White identity is positive and forward-looking. The American right under Trump is also. Recall his first SOTU – looking ahead to the tricentennial, and frequently the theme of what future will our country have.

The DSA types are the only ones on the left approaching a positive, forward-looking vision: socialism. The election of that unfortunate looking 27 year old DSA Latinx thot has been the big news story but actually DSA candidates have mostly gotten BTFO by democratic deep state candidates. The Dems position will continue to be negative and backward looking.

Doesn’t this redlining theory of everything overlook a) the percentage of blacks during that era who had enough money for a down payment was pretty low, and b) in the last 50 years through white flight and federally-insured loans there have been abundant opportunities for blacks to buy prime urban real estate at cheap prices?

Ms. NYT also omits the fact that blacks with similar credit histories/incomes are still more likely to get a higher interest rate than whites because they are more likely to fall behind or default on their payments. Bankers aren’t out to discriminate, they are trying to estimate risk based on millions of past loan transactions.

This was actually a plan, not just accident. From HUD, under Bill Clinton, we have the following document:

    https://www.huduser.gov/publications/pdf/def.pdf

    Excerpts:

The New York City region is a very dense area. The HUD regional Office in New York City, therefore, had very little history of building anything but highrises and walkups. The notion that we would be proposing the construction of row houses in Yonkers was an anathema to them.

The plaintiffs in the case, the Justice Department and the Yonkers chapter of the NAACP, also had problems with our decision to limit ourselves to row houses. The Justice Department attorney in the case wanted to put 200 units in 2 highrise towers on the largest site. Her idea was to make these an equal mix of public housing, moderate-income, and market-rate units. That site would then serve 67 public housing units. I pointed out to the plaintiffs that the history of such mixed-income developments (particularly in Yonkers) was that they became fully occupied by low-income families in a short period of time. This is because it is difficult to keep market-rate tenants living among public housing residents when they have other options. When management is then unable to attract new market-rate tenants to replace the old, they have no option but to accept low-income tenants with Section 8 certificates (Section 8 is HUD’s rent subsidy program) to fill the vacant units.

The end result would be a 200-unit low-income, highrise project located within a middle-income community composed of single-family houses. This would virtually guarantee destabilization. …

The attorney for the Justice Department said that my argument was falla cious: The issue was not the nature of the host community but the exclu sion of public housing residents from an area that should have been open to them. The NAACP attorney said that my arguments reflected the racist attitudes of Yonkers residents—attitudes that had produced the case in the first place. He, for one, had no problem with the entire 200 units turning into a low-income project, and if the surrounding community then wished to leave, so be it.

Some Housing projects were designed to foster dysfunction and convert white neighborhoods with good housing to areas where blacks would take over. Because of the design of the projects in Yonkers, this did not happen.

The white flight was often engineered, and often by the government through its destruction of black areas through slum clearance. The most destructive example is Detroit, where the black neighborhood, black bottom, was destroyed and replaced with Mies van der Rohe townhouses. The blacks, with no affordable housing options, moved into white working class neighborhoods, destabilizing those. This was done at the behest of the Republican Protestant mayors of the 1950s, who might have been using blacks as a weapon against white democrats.

Motown was the result of the black neighborhood’s support for local talent. After the flourishing in the late 60s, you did not get the same cultural side effect. The blacks have a legitimate grievance.

The whites, too. Where is the money to be given to the whites whose equity was destroyed as an indirect result of government action?

The story of Emmett Till is paraded around as an example of “racism” and “discrimination” in “Jim Crow” America.
The TRUE story begs to be told as Emmett Till did not “merely whistle” at a white woman, but fondled and manhandled a married white woman at the behest of his friends.
Emmett Till used to brag about “getting it on” with white women. This might not have had much of an effect in Chicago (where he came from), but in the deep South, his actions had profound implications both for him and the community he was living in.
Of course, it was wrong to kill him, BUT Till contributed to his own demise by refusing to apologize for his misbehavior.
A 14-year-old is mature enough to know that going around grabbing and fondling women is wrong and socially unacceptable, especially white women in the South.
It might interest some to know that Emmett Till’s father was executed by the U S military for multiple rapes.
Maybe “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”…
In a perverse way, the people who killed Emmett Till might have done society a favor. Who knows what crimes a live Emmett Till would have committed in the future had he lived?
Emmett Till was the previous generation’s Trayvon Martin…

The lady in question was 5 ft tall with large breasts, which Till had been talking about in crude terms with his cousins outside after they had been in earlier. He towered over her. She told an FBI agent that she’d thought Till was an adult male, not a boy. Till had come back in and went behind the counter, blocked her way grabbed her wrist and held her around the waist and simulated sex. His cousins, who had dared him to go back in and prove his boasts on what he got up to with white girls in Chicago were not present during the incident, but an old black came out quickly and told them “You’ve got a crazy cousin”.

The woman then went to her car, which the boys correctly suspected was her going to retreive a gun. Till and his cousins were advised to leave immediately, but he leaned out the car and loudly called her baby. She tried to keep it a secret, but lots of people had heard the shout of Till.

Till’s behaviour towards a married woman would have been risking a severe beating in any black area. He looked like a man, and acted like a jackass. He was also too tough for his own good because the husband and brother of the woman had been told of the incident by local blacks a few day later (almost uniformly they disliked the arrogant Till). He was in line for a severe beating, what the men agreed on would be a fitting punishment but they couldn’t breack him and he refused to apologise or even admit he was in the wrong, and that failure to be contrite when it was called for is what got him killed.

I used to watch that Reality TV show about the real police and the real criminals. It was called “48 Hours”. Almost all of the criminals were murderers and almost all the perpetrators and victims were black. Till was murdered 63 years ago. There have been maybe half a million murders in America since then.

Why so much attention on this one?

The standard “48 Hours” murder is usually the result of some dispute over gambling or women. Till was killed by an irate husband who was told that young Till bothered the man’s wife. This is not a very unique kind of motive. I only watched the show a few times but I’m sure more faithful viewers would have seen several similar incidents. Some who read this blog are probably police. They too will probably remember similar disputes that ended in violence.

I don’t think husbands should kill men or boys who insult their wives but it’s not a particularly uncommon occurrence. Something similar probably happened in Chicago last week. The only difference is that in the Till case he wife and husband were white.

Continuing to dwell on this single sixty year old act of passion strikes me as just anti-white racism.

I grew up in Detroit, and personally witnessed the destruction of a once-great city. There are a number of reasons for Detroit’s decline that have never been explored or discussed.
    1. “Blockbusting” by greedy real estate agents. Real estate agents would send out postcards with the following: “A new family is moving into your neighborhood. If you want to sell your house, please call me at xxx-xxxx”. A “new family” was a euphemism for black families, and was used to “encourage” whites to sell their homes.
    2. HUD (Housing and Urban Development) speculators and real estate hustlers conspired to “buy up” and raze the best houses on every block, in certain sections of the city. Quite often, “shacks” were left standing while decent housing was purchased by HUD and razed. This was done purposely to depress property values, to make it easier for speculators to purchase properties at “bargain basement” prices.
I realize that items 1 and 2 counteract each other and are at cross purposes, but they were a reality in 1960s Detroit.
    3. The 1967 riots did much to push whites out of Detroit. A little-known aspect of the Detroit riots was the application of spray-painted words on the exteriors of black-owned businesses. The words “soul brother” was spray-painted on businesses owned by blacks so that the “angels of death” (actually rioters) would spare them from destruction. Whole business districts around the city were destroyed, never to regain their former selves.
    4. The election of Coleman Alexander Young, Detroit’s first black mayor, who was overtly racist to Detroit’s white citizens while “getting along just fine” with the “movers and shakers” (big business people) of the day (as long as the campaign donations kept coming in)….
    5. The abolition of the STRESS (Stop The Robberies, Enjoy Safe Streets) program. This anti-criminal program was put in by mayor Young’s predecessor and was quite successful in “cleaning up the streets” of criminals. In this program, police officers would disguise themselves as vulnerable old people and walk through neighborhoods as “decoys”. Predatory criminals would attempt to rob these elderly citizens and quite often, were dispatched to “the great hereafter”. One of Young’s campaign promises was the abolition of the STRESS program as too many of “his people” were being eliminated. Upon the election of Young, the program was disbanded.
These are 5 reasons for this once-great city’s demise.
    P. S. A local university (Wayne State University) has an extensive database on the causes of Detroit’s destruction but NEVER mentions the topics and reasons that I have stated. Sorta tells you something. Their premise (and blame for) Detroit’s demise is placed squarely on whites–not the blacks (and jews) who destroyed this once-great city.

This is OT, but relevant to the general topic of culture war.

Last night I saw the new Marvel film “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which was a fun romp but also had some very heterodox features that readers here might find interesting, and even encouraging.

    > The film’s prominent theme revolves around the enduring, elevating, self-sacrificing nature of heterosexual marital love and its fruit in children.

    > A scene where a male character is “possessed” by the mind of a female is played for laughs, with no hint that effeminacy in a man might be a laudible quality. (The point is especially noteworthy because the film is set in San Francisco.)

    > A black scientist character, ostensibly set up as the figure who will provide a solution unavailable to the main (white) scientist characters, turns out instead to be an antagonist who acts out of long-held, long-past resentments. This character is called at one point “a mediocrity” without an original idea in his scientific career, and that charge is not disputed elsewhere in the film. In fact, he’s shown to be an incompetant in the field of super science, who relies on the white lead characters to solve the problems he (the black scientist) has promised but failed to solve.

    > The main “super-villain” is a mixed-race woman with a European accent, daughter of a rival white scientist who is labeled a traitor (and is likewise shown in a flashback to be lethally incompetant), whose entire motivation is to steal the technology that the main characters have invented, and use it to her own benefit–even if it spells distaster for others. Despite her selfishness, she’s cured of her affliction by a white scientist she had previously endangered.

    > An Asian FBI agent is depicted as a prissy stick-in-the-mud who is consistently outwitted by the main characters. He harrasses Ant-Man’s civilian identity by invading his home; the latter is living under house arrest for the “crime” of loyalty to [Captain] America.

    > The film features a trio of “good-guy” ethnics (Hispanic, Russian, and Black) portrayed as 1970s-vintage stereotypes that would be at home on “Welcome Back, Kotter.” An opposing group of bad-guy ethnics includes what look like Russian and Hispanic gangsters, and a sinister East Indian. (In the film’s rare concession to elite biases, the evil ethnic gang is led by a white southern guy.)

Maybe I’ve been spending too much time on iSteve, but the above character and plot points spoke to me as “coded” references to topics routinely under discussion here. It all strikes me as the very opposite of this year’s earlier Marvel opus, “Black Panther,” which was a hot topic in this forum five months ago. But then again, what should one expect from a movie that proudly includes the word “WASP” in its title? I’m curious what to know what others here think.

I’ve always thought the People of Color meme was hilarious. It defines the most important group in American by what they are not, which is white. So if someone walks up to one of them and asks her to define herself, she should say. “I’m not white.”

Wow. It’s as if men considered their most important characteristic, the one they define themselves by as, “I’m not female.”

Doesn’t anybody else see the spectacular dysfunction on display here?

  46. @anarchyst

Have you read E Michael Jones’ Slaughter Of Cities? I used to see things through a black-white lens. I am familiar with blockbusting, as it was done in neighborhoods of my forbears.

Jones, a pissed off Irishman from Philly, spells out Boston, Philly, and Detroit as examples of what Derbyshire calls the “cold civil war.” Philly’s Republican, Quaker whites were in this sense like the Republican mayors of Detroit in the 1950s, with no desire to lose control of their cities to the political power of Catholic urban Democrats. In both cities, “Urban renewal” in black areas led to the destruction of more housing than was replaced with public housing projects, setting off a process of progressive neighborhood destabilization and destruction.

Once you see it, you cannot unsee it. Yes,Coleman Young (a Catholic, interestingly enough) was a disaster, using Poletown to let GM build an unneeded plant and get rid of ethnic whites. But the real struggle is between two classes of whites, one which may not have known it was being targeted by other whites because they could blame blacks. But that war has broken out into the openwith Donald Trump and the Deplorables.

Since the 60s we have increasingly had our history presented as being “warts only.” We, alone of all peoples in history, have nothing at all positive or redeemable about about past.

All I ask, with Ollie, is that our history be presented “warts and all.” I believe that honestly portraying the good and the bad of our past allows people to decide America has net/net been of enormous benefit to humanity.

    No it really wasn’t.

Give it up – they’re not interested in meeting you halfway. They want to (continue to) dispossess you by any means necessary.

And if there’s anyone Brooklyn should hate for the Dodgers moving, it’s Moses and not Walter O’Malley.

O’Malley tried to raise money and get the political backing to build a new ballpark elsewhere in Brooklyn. The one person whose backing he needed was Robert Moses, a powerful figure who influenced development in New York through the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority. O’Malley envisioned a domed stadium near the Long Island Rail Road station on Brooklyn’s west end, and even invited R. Buckminster Fuller to design the structure; Fuller, in conjunction with graduate students from Princeton University, constructed a model of the “Dodgers’ Dome”. Moses did not like O’Malley and derided O’Malley’s pro-Brooklyn and pro-Irish sentiments in the press. O’Malley wanted to build a new Brooklyn Dodgers stadium at Flatbush and Atlantic Avenue, but Moses wanted the Dodgers to move to Queens and play in Flushing Meadows Park (the location where the New York Mets play today). Although O’Malley lined up bipartisan political support including New York Governor W. Averell Harriman, Moses blocked the sale of the land necessary for the planned new Brooklyn stadium.

I do not have a link to #2 but I did live through it. It was common knowledge that HUD was buying up the nicest homes on each block in designated areas and then razing them. At the time, I personally talked to many people, from the “investigators” and HUD personnel to the razing crews and they all pretty much told me the same thing. The government (HUD) was buying the houses to depress property values and make way for “urban renewal”. This was especially rampant throughout the Johnson administration…

Huh. Must be evidence in HUD budgets of the time. It would make a useful contribution as a research article. I’m sure Unz would publish.

There’s no way the Emmett Till as Martyr myth will ever be dispelled, but it’s worth putting out the facts whenever possible.

true, Redlining hurt the white property owners, resulting in a decreased value of their real estate holdings.

My Great grandfather bought his 3,000 foot brownstone in Philadelphia, Powelton Village, in 1912 when it was 100% white. His neighborhood was redlined and when he passed away in 1959 my grandfather inherited the property which was worth less than what his father had paid for it…he sold it in 1959 for $9,00 bought a home in the suburbs for $18,000.

today Powelton Village has gentrified and the building recently sold for $750,000 while the home he bought in the suburbs was sold last year for $195,000 (because Upper Darby is now 30% Black) Thus the redlined area was a much better investment than buying in the non-redlined area.

  58. Per Thomas Sowell, no one has ever proven the existence of redlining practices among US home lenders. The concept of redlining is an (((academic))) theory.
Also, why are whites being blamed for redlining? We’re not the ones who gave out the loans.

In the Middle Ages, there was a pope who hated his predecessor so much that he exhumed his corpse and parade it around Rome on a donkey, for all the people to jeer at. That’s what this is.

When the city proposed building an “affordable housing” project across the street from my subdivision, I spoke before the city zoning commission. I went through each aspect of the project’s design and showed how it violated almost every recognized best practice in the HUD Defensible Space Manual. All to no avail. The project owner assured the commission how wrong I was and how safe his project would be.

The project of 120 units opened in January and is not yet full. In six months there have been at least five police-reported criminal assaults, several of which resulted in the need for medical attention for the victims.

During the same time, how many assaults have there been in my small subdivision of 146 homes? Zero.

There should be a way of requiring people like that to back up their words with cash. Say requiring a bond which would be forfeited if certain statistical thresholds (e.g. for crime) were reached.
