The cover of the U. of Chicago Business School Magazine

From Capital Ideas, the U. of Chicago B-School mag, we learn that electing Barack Obama president just makes white people more racist (racist being defined as diminished feelings of white guilt and enthusiasm for racial preferences):

Think you’re not racist?
Research uncovers our secret prejudices, and ways to overcome them
By Alice G. Walton

Then the team asked the participants, in a number of different ways, whether race was currently a limiting factor for people in the US. They found that people who were incidentally exposed to counterstereotypical African Americans, such as Obama, former Brown University President Ruth Simmons, or Nobel laureate Toni Morrison, were much more likely to say that race wasn’t a limiting factor. “Those exposed to Black counterstereotypical exemplars were more likely to deny racism and state that Blacks could pull themselves up by their bootstraps if they tried,” the team writes.

Interestingly, it was solely the counterstereotypical nature of the exemplars that was key to the effect—highly successful African Americans in more “stereotypical” professions didn’t provoke it. When participants were shown pictures of singer Diana Ross or basketball player LeBron James, they did not later issue the same denial.

The great thing about this logic is that racism can never be defeated: the more evidence that racism has been defeated, the more proof of racism.

They are especially freaked that their bi-racial, “but really black” POTUS is becoming so small we can barely see him. Grip…soon lost forever.

Yes; I only use the word in its original meaning, eg "racist skinhead music group Skrewdriver" - in reference to the race ideology of German Nazism, modern Neo-Nazis, and by analogy closely equivalent race-hatred ideologies, which are often non-white. So on this view, non-racism and racial blindness is itself racist - a lack of Racism = Racism. Very 1984.

    Report claims police ‘stealth racism’

[The report] uncovered a “disturbing racial pattern” in recruitment which saw more black and Asian than white candidates rejected on race and diversity grounds. Home Office data showed 42% of Chinese applicants to the police were rejected on the grounds of “respect for race and diversity”. Similarly, 34% of black and 33% of Asian applicants were rejected, compared with 23% of their white counterparts.

The report, headed by former director of public prosecutions Sir David Calvert-Smith QC, said: “The precise reasons for this disturbing racial pattern need to be determined, and the assessment methods and scoring systems examined more closely.”

Swear words isn’t the right analogy. “Motherfucker” would be a much stronger analogy if being called a motherfucker in public screwed you over for the rest of your life.

As a blogger I like a lotpointed out, the real issue is that the word “racist” is overused in place of 5-7 non-existent but sorely-needed other terms, most but not all of which would be value-neutral:

-A term for someone’s natural tendency to prefer members of his own group over others
-A term for someone who believes that races are innately differentA term for someone who lacks moral restraint or a sense of justice towards “man qua man”
-A term for someone who holds hatred specifically for those he perceives as enemies of his race
-A term for someone who finds humor in the patterns of behavior, language, dress, diet etc. of people of other races but who intends no actual malign
-A term for someone who refuses to continually update his vocabulary to synchronize with the latest politically correct terms regarding race

Anyway, the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” phenomenon is okay with me. It just means white people are always racist. Once accepted, this ends both the race-baiting ritual and the white guilt genuflecting ritual, which relies upon “No, I’m not racist” and “Well I was racist but now I’m not, I swear!” and then we can move on to a more honest society.

Just out of curiosity, just what about Toni Morrison is ‘counter-stereotypical’? What is the ‘stereotype’ that she counters? Morrison writes imaginative literature for a living. A small sliver of people do, including Derek Walcott and Ralph Ellison. It’s not terribly arresting that Morrison does. What other stereotype could they have in mind? Morrison’s expressed views on social questions are obnoxious and silly. If that’s ‘counter-stereotypical’, what stereotype does she suppose people have about rank-and-file black opinion on social questions?

As for Obama, he married into the black American population. He’s not an organic manifestation of it. Unfortunately, he and his wife actually do manifest two or three disagreeable cliches about black bourgeois as character types. In his case, verbal agility tricks out an absence of genuine expertise and credentials consume actual accomplishment. As for her, she quits practicing law and spends 17 years as an institutional apparatchik (eventually taking home bodacious salaries) doing ??? And, of course, she has a history of overspending on display goods.

  33. It’s a shame we don’t have a handy term to distinguish the members of the underclass from functional and productive black citizens.

Nobody has any problem criticizing or mocking “white trash” or rednecks. The taboos that prohibit any kind of similar treatment of dysfunction among black society mean that we have to paper over these problems with depictions of black Americans that are exclusively aspirational images of professionals or intelligentsia.

Surely we should all be able to have categories that distinguish between folks like Professor Thomas Sowell, Oprah and Li’l John?

Probably it’s too late to mainstream a certain 6 letter word.
How about black trash to parallel white trash?

My confession of my own personal racism.

The black people I know from work and the neighborhood all seem fine. In fact I prefer their company to that tiresome middlebrow BoBo SWPL pack. It’s mostly the self-anointed black political and “civil-rights” leadership that gives me indigestion. By now it’s more a ressentiment industrial complex than anything about asserting equal civil rights. I just need to remind myself that these blowhards don’t necessarily speak for black people as a whole. Indeed they may be dangerous demagogues who seduce “their people” but they’re also probably mostly cravenly focused on their own personal ambition.

    “Think you are not racist?”

No, I am race-ist and proud of it. I do believe races exist, I do believe racial differences exist, and I do believe racial consciousness is necessary for a people to survive and thrive as a race, culture, and nation. Just look at Israel.

Because I believe in the existence of races and racial differences, I’ve duly noted that Jews have power over us and exploit/manipulate us because of their higher IQ and that blacks commit lots of violence against non-blacks because they are naturally more aggressive and stronger/tougher–and also that they fail more in schools and in many tasks because they’re less generally less intelligent.

And my race-ism is proven and validated all over the world in America, South America, Africa, and Europe(where immigration from African nations and elite domination by Jews are creating so much havoc). And new discoveries in genetics continue to elucidate and validate my beliefs based on honest observation of social, biological, political, and economic realities.

So, I don’t apologize for my race-ism, and I don’t try to hide my race-ism. I admit it and am proud of it because truth beats lies.

The “r” word isn’t a chemical substance, but it’s the memetic equivalent of a pheromone, and it has a huge effect on our behavior.

According to the U Chicago author: “They found that people who were incidentally exposed to counterstereotypical African Americans, such as Obama, former Brown University President Ruth Simmons, or Nobel laureate Toni Morrison, were much more likely to say that race wasn’t a limiting factor. ‘Those exposed to Black counterstereotypical exemplars were more likely to deny racism and state that Blacks could pull themselves up by their bootstraps if they tried,’ the team writes.”

Well, in our affirmative-action culture, Obama, Morrison, and Simmons are stereotypical recipients of AA love: 1) Obama ain’t too bright, 2) Morrison is an incredibly overrated writer, and 3) Simmons just brought her AA mojo to Brown to help dumb down the standards there.

There you go. Watching SCHINDLER’S LIST makes you more antisemitic.

Though the article doesn’t intend to say so, it implies that ‘racism’ is the natural mode of how people feel, especially when it comes to blacks. For starters, people naturally feel closer to their own kind, and many white people have anxieties about blacks because of black crime and aggressive/outlandish black behavior(even when blacks are not acting criminal).

So, it’s all too natural for whites to have either negative, anxious, or ambiguous feelings about blacks. But this natural, normal, and understandable response is called ‘racist’–sick, demented, irrational, hateful, and wicked.
But, it’s a rather tortured argument to duly note that so many white people naturally have racial feelings about themselves and others based on personal observations and the news–even with PC news, it’s pretty clear that most of the worst and most dire problems in America are caused by blacks– but then to vilify such feeling as simply wrong when they are founded on firm grounds.
Also, sports with thuggish black athletes and music entertainment with muscled rappers sort of make it clear that blacks are the toughest mofos in the land.

It’s ridiculous to admit that it’s natural for any human to feel nervous when venturing into the woods with bears and cougars BUT THEN attack his or her character as ‘speciesist’ for feeling the way he or she does.

If indeed blacks are physically stronger, more aggressive, and less intelligent, doesn’t it make sense that many blacks would fail economically, turn to crime, and indulge in negative social behavior? Why can’t we call out on this and try to recognize and understand why whites–and browns, yellows, Arabs, Muslims, etc–feel the way they do about blacks?

If anything, it is ‘anti-racism’ that is unnatural, unhealthy, and abnormal in regard to blacks because it forces us to deny what we really see and feel and believe so as to keep worshiping the myth of the Noble or Magic Negro, which is really just a figment of the white Liberal imagination. This isn’t to deny that there are decent blacks, but no person of any color is as wonderful as the Magic Negro that exists in Hollywood movies, TV shows, and even in fairytale history(as people like MLK and Mandela have been ‘whitewashed’ to be saintly and perfect).

Because of such PC pressures, most white people do go out of their way to be ‘anti-racist’. They seek out blacks like Oprah and Obama and hail them to high heaven as if such act of worship will somehow transform all blacks into ‘nice non-threatening negroes’ who smile a lot–so that they can finally expunge the last ounce of doubt about blacks in their hearts.
Though the Obama and Oprah cults are part of secular culture, they are no less religious and irrational than the stuff that happens in Evangelical churches. The promotion of Obama in 2008 was nothing less than a kind of zany and hysterical religious movement.
But such lunacy is not founded on reality or honesty but on a social complex.
Complex occurs when one feels/knows one thing but is under pressure to deny it and force oneself to feel/believe something else. In the past, many homos has complexes because they really wanted to be fruity, but society said it was sinful. So, homos tried to repress their homosexuality and convince themselves that they harbored no such ‘sick’ feelings.

Today, many whites do know lots of negative and fearful truths about blacks, but PC pressure forces them to bury such honest feelings and instead adopt the positive feelings about blacks as heroes, saints, prophets, model citizens, magic negroes, etc. (For the Jewish and white elites, this is cynical to some extent. My guess is they prize someone like Mandela because the pact between DeKlerk and Mandela was that white/Jewish elites and black elites would do business with one another while saying THE HELL with masses of whites and masses of blacks. Indeed, new South Africa is where white/Jewish elites keep their wealth, where a rising black elite does business with them, but where masses of whites slip down the social scale and where masses of blacks rot in poverty.) Anyway, the overblown hysteria over the Obama cult in 2008 was the result of white racial social complex. Deep down inside, many whites see and feel one thing, but social pressures makes them repress and deny what they feel as ‘wicked’ and ‘racist’. So, they go out of their way to deny their own feelings of ‘racism’ by clinging to some ‘nice negro’ and turning him into messiah.

So, there is some truth to the article in that sense. Many whites do seem to think they’ve overcome ‘racism’ simply because they voted for Obama or because they made peace with the fact that US had a black president.
I also suspect that there are unresolved feelings about race–especially the black race–among many white people, indeed even among white Liberals(who supported stuff like Stop and Frisk the Negro in NY).
But where I disagree with the article is that the article sees these repressed feelings as wicked and evil whereas I see them as natural, normal, and even inevitable since one race of people are naturally going to feel fearful and anxious about another race of people that is stronger, more aggressive, and more dangerous. After all, why is Hyde Park situated and structured the way it is–to be essentially a white, Jewish, Asian, homo, and mulatto oasis against the rest of South Side that is overwhelmingly black and economically depressed?

The article suggests that white feelings of ‘racism’ should be repressed and denied even further, but the fact is, no matter what whites do with their beliefs and feelings, the reality will not go away. It’s like no matter how much one represses or denies one’s fear of bears and cougars in the forest, those beasts will still be there.
So, the only true solution to the race problem is to end the SOCIAL COMPLEX about race and let the repressed feelings and facts to be released and aired out, so that we can have a better policy on racial matters based on facts than on falsehoods.

Even if we were to have ‘affirmative action’ in the future to help out blacks, it should be based on the reality of biology and not on the tiresome trope of history. We should argue that blacks like Michelle Obama need special preference because they simply cannot complete intellectually with most Jews, whites, and Asians.

It’s like, if the NBA and NFL were to be more diverse, it’s going to need affirmative action for non-blacks, especially geeky Asians and stubby Mexicans. Evolution simply made blacks bigger and more muscular than the other races.

I can sort of see the use of affirmative action to some degree. If a community is 50% purple and 50% red, and if objective tests hire 99 purples and 1 red, the reds are simply going feel left out of the system. So, one could argue that maybe reds should deserve at least 20 of the slot. But it has to be based on fact, i.e. that reds are generally less intelligent than purples.

After all, blacks in France didn’t arrive as slaves but they fall behind whites and yellows in the academic fields. But they are way over-represented in the athletic fields. Just look at the French soccer team. So, biology cannot be denied… and will not be denied.

How come it’s so wrong to point out the fact that blacks are physically stronger/tougher and more aggressive than non-blacks(and therefore non-blacks have every right to feel fear and experience anxiety about/around blacks), BUT it’s perfectly okay for feminists to point out that men are physically stronger/tougher and more aggressive than women(and therefore women have every right to fearful of men, colleges, streets, and homes)?

When non-blacks discuss the problems of black crime, bullying, and thuggery, it’s ‘hysterical fear-mongering’, but when women go on and on about ‘war on women’, that’ s just sound politics?
But in fact, black-on-white(or non-black) violence is a far bigger issue than male-on-female violence. For the most part, despite the hysteria of feminists, the problems of male-on-female violence has been fixed in most American communities–except in the black community where violence is just part of life. But the problem of black-on-non-black violence doesn’t go away. And when it comes to interracial rape, it’s overwhelmingly, indeed single-sidedly, black on non-black.

    http://wgntv.com/2014/07/20/trayvon-martins-parents-hold-peace-walk-in-la/

The Martin family and blacks hold a ‘peace walk’ but overlook the fact that too many blacks walk around looking to rob, fight, rape, and murder. If indeed most black males were into ‘peace walk’, we wouldn’t have this problem with blacks in the first place.

“One year after a Florida man was acquitted of killing teen Trayvon Martin, Martin’s family participated in a rally to raise awareness about RACIAL PROFILING.”

Racial profiling again. But whites and other non-blacks racially profile blacks as potential criminals because blacks routinely racially profile whites and non-blacks as potential victims. Just like predators seek easier prey, blacks seek easier prey among the races, and most blacks know that they are stronger/tougher than non-blacks, so black criminals, thugs, and bullies racially profile whites and non-blacks as their potential victims. It used to be said that most black violence was against other blacks, but today, there’s more black-on-white violence than black-on-black violence.

When will blacks have a ‘peace walk’ about that?

And it’s a not a red state or blue state issue since liberal Democratic blue city NY has been the capital of racial profiling, and NYers elected Bloomberg 3 times(and before him Giuliani 2 times). And an ultra-Liberal place like Hyde Park in Chicago is kept relatively safe because cops who work there know that most criminals will be black males and profile them as such. And whites, Jews, Asians, and homosexuals who live in Hyde Park know all too well to keep away from the blacker areas. That is racial-geographical profiling too based on knowledge of racial reality.

    Technically he was.

So was the 18-year-old, 6’3″, 250 pound thug that chose to assault 95-year-old, 95-pound Granny* until he found out that Granny had a gun. Check out self-defense laws. Most of them say that huge disparities in size and strength are the equivalent of being armed with a deadly weapon. As they should.

The only demographic groups who are profiled a lot, are those that have a lot of bad violent apples among them.

Why is there is no epidemic in America when it comes to profiling nerdy looking people for example ? Because nerdy looking people rarely [get violent].

How many of the thugs during the 1992 Los Angeles riots and and Katrina looked like the cast of “The Big Bang Theory” ?

Had George Zimmerman been following around a nerdy looking guy, the nerdy looking guy would most likely use his cellphone to call 911 and report that some fat Mexican looking guy is following him. The nerdy looking guy would most likely not approach Zimmerman and start pounding him in the face until he either passes out or dies.

Why didn’t Trayvon Martin call 911 instead of violently launching an assault on George ? Because as a Black male, he felt he had a street cred to maintain.

I’ll add, this is a point that high school principals – in their role as judge and jury – fail to grasp. Kids are not just kids. Even when grouped by age, they have huge disparities in size, weight, and strength. This is especially true in early adolescence, when some kids have started their major growth spurt, and others not.
