There’s a fun example brewing in the State of Washington (won by Hillary 54-38) that demonstrates once again how the Democrats’ Coalition of the Margins requires constant drumming up of fear and loathing of the White Male Menace to keep their diverse coalition from being at each other’s throats. This time, blacks and Chinese are fighting over affirmative action in state college admissions.

First, some background:

Back in 1998 voters in the state of Washington banned affirmative action in government hiring and public universities, on the model of California’s 1996 Proposition 209. Recently, the state legislature voted in favor of a bill, I-1000, to rescind that referendum and legalize affirmative action. But then, apparently, it was noticed that they couldn’t, you know, do that, so they need a referendum to repeal the 1998 referendum.

A vote in favor of the upcoming R-88 is to legalize affirmative action, while a vote against is to keep affirmative action illegal.

Not surprisingly, professional People of Color are for R-88, while White-Adjacent Tiger Moms are against R-88.

In case you are wondering, the the language of the pro-affirmative action I-1000 / R-88 is shameless gaslighting. From Ballotpedia:

Under I-1000, preferential treatment would be prohibited. I-1000 defines preferential treatment as using one of the characteristics listed above as the sole factor for selecting a lesser-qualified candidate over a more qualified candidate. [Emphasis mine]

However, affirmative action would be allowed under I-1000. I-1000 defines affirmative action as using one or more of the characteristics listed above (except sexual orientation) as factors when considering a person for education or employment opportunities.

Now, you know and I know that the legal concept of disparate or adverse discrimination doesn’t say disparate discrimination is okay as long as the factor that causes one race to benefit over the other isn’t the “sole factor.”

From the Seattle Times:

Affirmative action debate in Washington takes an Orwellian turn

Naomi Ishisaka By Naomi Ishisaka
Seattle Times columnist

Like many Asian Americans growing up in Seattle’s civil-rights circles in the 1980s, I looked up to the “Four Amigos” as a powerful model of solidarity and activism.

Native leader Bernie Whitebear, Latinx leader Roberto Maestas, Asian American leader Uncle Bob Santos and African American leader Larry Gossett — each legends in their own right — modeled cross-racial organizing that emphasized we were stronger when we looked beyond our own self-interest and thought about the interests of all. From the 1960s on, they taught us that while communities had different struggles, histories and needs, only through multiethnic solidarity could we right wrongs and raise the tide for every boat.

I.e., Unite to Fight the White.

It was within this context that I was, perhaps foolishly, surprised, confused and discouraged to see that the face of the campaign to reject affirmative action by voting no on Referendum 88 was nearly all Asian American.

Led by Eastside residents Kan Qiu and Linda Yang under the name Washington Asians for Equality, the no on R-88 campaign brought hundreds of Chinese Americans to Olympia to lobby against Initiative 1000 in the spring. The no on R-88 campaign seeks to overturn I-1000, which was passed this year by the Legislature to help women and people of color gain access to public education and public employment in Washington.

The campaign uses Orwellian language to call equity efforts “systemic racism” and “racial profiling.” In testimony on the initiative in April, Yang said, “I-1000 would legalize racial discrimination and penalize hardworking Asians by our skin color. At its core, it would allow less-qualified applicants to be selected based on race.” In his testimony, Qiu invoked not just parallels to the Chinese Exclusion Act but the genocide of the Khmer Rouge and Nazi Germany as examples of similarly disastrous government “solutions.”

In an Oct. 4 Seattle Times podcast, Qiu went further, dismissing historic injustices faced by African Americans. “You’re talking about slavery? That’s like 150 years ago. … Jim Crow law, that happened half a century ago.” Qiu called Jim Crow “government-sanctioned discrimination” and said, “I actually don’t see the difference between [the] Jim Crow law and Initiative 1000.”

It is appalling and ahistorical to conflate a codified system of racial apartheid that was upheld through terror, with an effort to create economic and educational opportunities for historically marginalized groups.

April Sims, secretary-treasurer of the Washington State Labor Council and a co-chair of the Washington Fairness I-1000 campaign, found Qiu’s remarks offensive. “[It] discounts the real sacrifice that folks made to pass the Civil Rights Act and to overturn those Jim Crow laws, folks that died. The folks that were lynched during the Jim Crow era.” Sims’ own family fled the South to escape the violence of the time. Sims said the divide-and-conquer tactics aren’t new, but they are nonetheless disheartening.

Washington Asians for Equality is part of a national political trend of the emerging Chinese American right wing. Using the digital platform WeChat, users can quickly spread information and organize support. From online bullying to direct confrontation, Washington Asians for Equality aggressively attacks any who oppose them — usually by calling their opponents racist and supporters of discrimination.

If Asians had any brains, they would call for meritocracy for whites, Asians, and Jews. Whites would include white latinos who must NOT be allowed to go as POC.

Let blacks and others have their quotas. But no ‘holistic’ stuff for whites, Asians, and Jews.
But one qualifier should be NO AA for African immigrants and AA for browns with American ancestry. None for white Latinos and immigrant browns.

It seems Jews use ‘holistic’ cover not only to let in more blacks but to favor Jews over white gentiles and Asians. That is if Ron Unz is right.

  21. Washington State is about 85% white, 8% Asian, 4% Black and 3% other. So it’s a little unclear how AA would play out in that demographic mix.

If the state sets “goals” (aka quotas) equal to each group’s percentage of the population, then Asians would bear the brunt, at least in university admissions.

But there are also so many whites in the system that the state could give Asians all the spots they deserve by merit, and just take all the AA spots reserved for blacks and others out of the white quota.

My guess is that is exactly how the leftist WA state legislature would implement any new AA programs they are allowed to get away with.

  22. @snorlax

    Que guapa.

It is not obvious to me, however, why someone whose ancestors obviously immigrated from Europe to Latin America, and thence to the United States, magically transforms into a “person of color” upon arrival here, while if the same person’s ancestors had just come directly to the United States, that person would be stuck as white.

‘Anywhere you go, you’re accepted’: NE Ohio city named ‘Nicest Place in America’

Reader’s Digest announced this month that it has selected Columbiana, Ohio as the Nicest Place in America. The city was nominated for its residents’ welcoming nature.

More than 1,000 nominations were filed with Reader’s Digest for the Nicest Place in America designation. The magazine narrowed the field to one community in each state. Residents then voted on their communities. Reader’s Digest considered the votes when it chose the winner, Columbiana.

……Amid the country’s deep political divide, Columbiana runs against the prevailing anger and angst spewed so often on airwaves and social media. Earlier this month, Reader’s Digest announced that it had selected Columbiana the Nicest Place in America, noting how the city of 6,400 lifts its young and old, its thriving and its struggling.

Reader’s Digest sought cities where people treat others well, where respect and community pride are seen in daily life.

……In some ways, Columbiana is typical of a lot of small cities in Ohio. It has a downtown in which nearly every storefront is owned and operated by local businesses. The only exception is a Subway sandwich shop, and that is owned by a city resident.

A diversified manufacturing base makes up a good deal of the city’s workforce. Columbiana has several small to midsized businesses, including R&L trucking, which has about 300 employees. Vari-Wall, a tubing specialist, has about 100 workers.

Columbiana’s unemployment rate hovers at 4 percent, which is lower than the rest of the region, which is about 6 percent.

……It leans conservative, a contrast to 40 years ago when the region’s steel and autoworkers backed Democrats. In 2016, Columbiana County, as a whole, gave Donald Trump nearly 70 percent of its vote.

The crime rate is low, even in the shadows of Youngstown, a city north of Columbiana. In the 2000s, The Plain Dealer reported Youngstown was the murder capital of the country, on a per capita basis.

Columbiana is about 20 miles from Youngstown, and a world away from its problems.

“Things don’t build up here,’’ said Tom Yoder, the owner of Heck’s Restaurant, which serves up a full menu and the happenings of the city on a daily basis.

“There’s not the tension of a big city. Everyone has opinions, but you don’t have that divisiveness here.’’

Sounds great, right? How can they do this in 2019?

One more excerpt that might explain it:

…..Its population, according to the U.S. Census, is more than 98 percent white. City leaders are seeking ways to attract diversity.

“Diversity, like variety, is the spice of life,’’ (Nicole) Ice said.

No, whites are not allowed to organize in collective self-defense. As the titular majority, they are expected to behave with rarefied disinterested mindset above the fray of petty ethnic struggles.

FWIW, I see fights over A/A as superfluous. In the event of it being banned by the legislature or referendum; the academic bureaucracy just restarts it under another name.

Further, opposing A/A antagonizes middle-class moderate non-Asian minority voters. White students could just go to community college or a lower-ranked state university.

Finally, opposing A/A on principle means that conservatives have surrendered the arguement that diversity should include a reserved number of seats for “conservative professors”. More than anything, forcing Right-wing sociology and anthropology profs to be hired would forcibly inject and legitimize race realism in the academy.

The masthead here has lots of authors who would wield much more influence if the title “Professor” was affixed to the front of their names.

The liability comes from their exploitation as a status-striving instrument by S+E Asian colonists who are not oppressed and not low-IQ. Of course they couldn’t run this jive without having copied the social-discord methods from status-frustrated white-assorted boomers. Asians can’t innovate like that. Washington Asians for Equality aggressively attacks any who oppose them — usually by calling their opponents racist and supporters of discrimination.

White liberals around me are telling me they are going to approve R-88, i.e. reinstate affirmative action, because UW is “too Asian”. Meanwhile, the reason UW is too Asian is because it is 17% international students — with >50% from China alone! The actual percentage of Asian Americans at UW is only around 25%, with probably equal share East and South Asian:
    https://studentdata.washington.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2019/10/Quick_Stats_Seattle_Autumn_2019.pdf

So Asian Americans are actually being lumped in and hurt by their FOB co-ethnics; the latter are preferred by UW admin because they pay 3x higher tuition, and are also taking up precious limited spots in the popular CS, engineering and business majors, and taking jobs at AMZN and MS when they graduate thanks to OPT and H1b.

The entire Seattle area is practically drowning in Chindians, all arrived within the last 10 years. Most Indians arrived to take jobs at Microsoft, Amzn or one of the Indian outsourcers. Most Chinese arrive via EB5 or as students then take jobs. The town I live in was barely 8% Asian 20 years ago, now it’s closer to 40%.

It’s way pass time to end the H1b and OPT visas. American jobs should be for American citizens only. Trump needs to end this gravy train for our universities and businesses.

Perhaps more salient than the presence of Oriental men is the (relative) absence of Negroes, Arabs, mestizos, etc. – her demonstrated and admitted preferences for these dusky lot cannot be met in Bangkok. What’s more, the absence of gibs in southeastern Asia means that only the white men (and undesirable Oriental men) have the resources to sufficiently entertain her before schtupping her – unlike in Europe, North America, and Australia, where the governments steal money from white men, then give it to the swarthy parasites, who in turn use it to chase white women.

Lastly, she is close to her date of expiry and is possibly seeking a suitable patch of soft grass into which to leap from the carousel – Negroes are for fornication in one’s twenties; but Whitey is for marriage in one’s thirties or forties (followed, of course, by divorce-rape in one’s forties or fifties – at which point a gal can party and travel the world again, with the added bonus of alimony and child support meaning she can finance things with no concern for how broke Mandingo is…).

The Native American contribution varies from 1–20%, while the African contribution ranges from 7–15%, in different regions of the country.

So the average Uruguay approaches 1/4 non-white. This is very common in almost all Latin countries. The No No Boys were those Japanese American men who answered no on Questions 27 and 28 of the questionnaire they were given when they were interned during WWII:

Question number 27 asked if Nisei (American born Japanese) men were willing to serve on combat duty.

Question number 28 asked if individuals would swear unqualified allegiance to the United States and forswear any form of allegiance to the Emperor of Japan.

As the war progressed they released a lot of the internees but if y0u answered no, no then they kept you in the internment camp.

For example: Low IQer becomes a mail carrier or cab driver making only 30-40 thousand annually…there is nothing wrong with giving this person, through the tax code, a credit to bring their salary up to a living wage (whatever that is defined as in that state)…

However this business of giving everybody some form of affirmative action benefit no matter the IQ is getting a little ridiculous and it leading to all of this identity politics and gaming of the system to get various benefits which should actually only be reserved for the low IQer who cannot make it otherwise in our technologically advanced societies…

Earlier settlers had migrated from Argentina and Paraguay. Few direct descendants of Uruguay’s indigenous peoples remain, and mestizos account for less than one-tenth of the population. Blacks and mulattos make up an even smaller proportion of the total.Encyclopœpia Brittanica

A more meaningful headline would be “My White Father Wants me to Marry a White Man.”

The “Latino” shit is sensationalist (and, ultimately, meaningless) nonsense designed to manipulate and confuse the entire affair. Her father, like all psychologically healthy people, wants grandchildren who look like him (to be concise about it).

Italian fathers, Canadian fathers, Irish fathers…they all want their children to marry white men, even though these fathers may speak Italian, French, and English – what in the Hell should her (white) father’s speaking Spanish have to do with anything?!

I’m not sure what is to be done about this. The experience of my parent’s generation with the job market, employers, what is required to get middle class status, and so on is so radically, totally different from mine’s that at best, we talk past each other. People who know they will never be rich and can expect to be worse off than their parents in every metric of life, no matter what they attempt or how hard they work, are not going to be sold on modern GOP economic orthodoxy. It’s just not going to happen.

Most ordinary people want the same things they always did, generational differences aside: a good livelihood for honest work, the ability to marry and start and raise a family. That’s good news: it means that the amount of true believer SJW types out there are way less than you’d get the impression, going online or watching TV. But it also means that regardless of how nutty the Democrats get, unless the GOP stops treating economics like religion, they’ve got no future. There’s an additional factor besides unfamiliarity at work: I’ve noticed that Americans who haven’t lived in Asia or have no connection to that part of the world tend to really have a hard time grasping just how contemptuous these societies are of darker-skinned people in general, blacks in particular. Petty racist attitudes toward black people in the United States, once upon a time so omnipresent and casual, now has the social stigma akin to felonry, to the point where people will bend over backwards to not be accused of being racist. (One glaring example: Jeffrey Dahmer might have butchered dozens of young men, but as early as the 1990s, he was at pains to state he was no racist!)

Many of the new immigrants, needless to say, come from societies where this is not the case.

I love how she calls white Latino men “white-passing.” In her syphilitic mind, Latino and white are mutually exclusive.

This article is at least 70% horseshit. Though the part I believe is that she doesn’t give her white mother’s individual humanity a second thought in any of this.

  114. Government decisions, e.g. who gets into State U, who gets a sinecure at State U, etc, will always be political.

Make government as small as possible (<< 5% of its current size) and thereby minimize the damage.

Washington State is currently 60% white. I imagine the affirmative action fight features whites on both sides of the debate…

Actually closer to 70%. But if you just landed in Bellevue, WA, you’d think you’ve landed in Beijing, or if you go to Costco-Redmond or anywhere near Microsoft, you’d think you’re in Mumbai.

Washington Asians for Equality aggressively attacks any who oppose them — usually by calling their opponents racist and supporters of discrimination.

LOL fight fire with fire. Liberals are the most racist of all people. Asians need to wake the hell up and start voting GOP. Unfortunately the effing Indians are stuck being Trump hating libtards.

Well, what about those movies where the CIA shoots off these big caravans of SUVs careening over the border and just kills them up a powerful mess of carteleers? What about them, huh?

Uruguay is the only country that has succesfully comited genocide. In their central park in Montevideo. they have a statue of the last four indians in the country, who were shipped to Paris and died in a circus outside of Paris. And guess what, there are no indians left to complain about it. And guess what no one outside of Uruguay complains about it.

  119. In other fun Seattle news not fit to print. In the article 10 ways you can contribute to the recovery of Puget Sound

    7. Include and empower communities of color.

Puget Sound recovery must include solutions for everyone; we will fail if we leave some communities behind. Learn what equality, equity and justice mean. As we work on common goals like reducing toxic pollution, we must do so in a way that breaks down the structures that led to disproportionate impacts in the first place. In other words, focus efforts on the most affected people, often communities of color and low-income neighborhoods.

Because this is the best way to save Killer whales………

  120. There’s no such thing as “Affirmative Action.” That term is supposed to imply that the government has a right to control people’s lives. But that’s not true. It should be called “Illegal Interference.”
Nothing that the government does can be called “Affirmative.” Remember that the government takes tax money, and then spends it. So it would be even more accurate to call it “Tax-payer funded control over how other people should live.” But the government wants to be seen as “good” (not tyrannical) so it creates euphemisms for itself. That’s why we have “Family Court” and “Restorative Justice” and “Reparations.” All of those are “good.”

When it comes to college admissions, neither blacks nor Asians should even be considered. Blacks are a bunch of criminals; the only thing they do “at college” is fuck and smoke pot. And they ruin the campus for everyone else. They harass white coed girls shamelessly. Asians have thier own culture, which is not compatible with American culture. We want our kids to learn about Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson, and Aristotle. But Universities have redesigned the curriculum, so that Asian students will feel more comfortable. So now the kids learn about international history.

American Universities are supposed to be places of high ideals, gentility, and good manners. They are also supposed to be think-tanks where the American experience can be examined, improved, and cherished. That means lots of philosophical debate, historical narratives, and a genuine sense of community. But with a bunch of blacks and Asians walking around, that can never happen.

Yes, because Pakistan and Sweden have similar risk profiles for abusive males. Good lord, this woman is not only a slut, but semi-suicidal.

“I left the States and started traveling full-time, having my share of fun in countries like Morocco…”

    Morocco. Chop.

“Asians have thier own culture, which is not compatible with American culture”

This is true. I like East Asians, particularly Chinese. However, when you bring millions of them into your country, they bring their culture with them. An explosion of cheating is happening at North American universities, and the Asian population is to blame.

They have almost no interest in our culture, apart from picking up the technical skills and making money. Not that there is anything wrong with the Chinese sticking to their own worldview and prioritizing success and money over all else, but facts are facts.

Here in northern NJ you can get the Mumbai feel in the lovely town of Parsippany.

If you want to feel as though you’re in any part of Squatemala, just head on over to the fine community of Dover.

I don’t know, when I attended college (a ‘not ivy league but ivy grows on the walls’ caliber institution), I, a mathematics major, routinely entertained spirited discussions with the Chinese immigrant students concerning favorite theorems, alternative routes of proof, ways to attack a problem set, nonstandard problem solving heuristics and strategies, etc. With the exception of two or three spare math-olympiad credentialed, full scholarship, high-octane, high iq performing oddballs (who were better than the Asians but were outnumbered by them), most of the whites could barely eek out basic difference of cubes identities, trigonometric identities, u-substitutions, and elementary reasoning about number theory which the East Asians had clearly internalized from around the age of 14 or 15. As well, many of the Chinese maintained, on the side, a healthy disdain for China’s communist past, a disdain for the cultural destructiveness of Chinese communism, a curiosity concerning market oriented free societies. They were way more interesting than the median mediocre inept white! Even the more intellectually oriented whites tended to squander their energies on social justice warrior studies or kitsch dadaist art projects.

    Preach it!

The shift in urban tawdriness , density, and squalor which one experiences when driving on route 10 east bound from the relatively nice stretches of Randolph/Denville/Morristown going into Parsippany is surely a spectacle to behold.

And in the occasional event that my father would drive me to the Dover train station in the early morning for me to attend some high school academic tournament in NYC, he would always make sure to have his loaded pistol and a baseball bat ready while we waited for the train.

I’ve only been to Montevideo but anyone with noticeable non-white features are vanishingly rare there. Even if this girl’s dad is 20% colored, her mom is white American and FAIAP this girl is white. She’s only a minority insofar as she desperately wants to be. It’s clear she despises her parents.

  129. @Malcolm X-Lax

As a White Hispanic myself, I agree. This is a self-referential love letter written to herself. She has no “otherness” and it bothers here, so she has contrived this narrative that people just couldn’t understand her “Latinx-ness”…nevermind that having a father from Uruguay and being raised in Kansas, makes you about as “other” as a 4th Generation Italian-American living in Kentucky.

No one who knows her or knew her growing up would probably even understand what she wrote. She’s trying to sell herself a storyline. We have in our community the same thing the black community does with Redbones. Sometimes the most militant and race-conscious of all.

Since when has the constitution been considered in this country? Surely not since 1865.

Before the residents of Columbiania seek to diversify their population they would be advised to take a look at the history of the city of Dubuque, IA. It was a nice, quiet town with the low crime rate attributable to a white monoculture. Then a liberal was elected to the office of mayor. Seeing the ‘evil’s of being crime free, he arranged the import of several black families from Chicago. Dubuque now has the same drug and violent crime problems present in other cities where blacks are domiciled in numbers relatively close to their national representation.

Japanese in particular tend to be smaller than about any other group. Japanese condoms are specially made on smaller mandrels. Japanese women think average white men are impressive.

Koreans and Chinese are closer to world average. Really huge guys tend to be from mixed race groups, which is why Dominicans and blackish or pardo Cubans tend to be heavily represented amongst the “hung jury”.
