    This: "low-income students attending more affluent schools scored roughly two years of learning ahead of low-income students in high-poverty schools."

    That's a pretty low bar. The children attending "high-poverty schools" probably don't learn much at all. Those "attending more affluent schools" may have been selected for the likelihood of their benefitting from the experience. So, no useful conclusions can be drawn from the study as it is presented.

    This is true to an extent. After a nearly all-white elementary school, going to a diverse Jr. High and High School motivated me to creatively problem-solve a way to not get beat-up, enroll in less diverse classes, learn more deeply and eventually find a career in what used to be a very non-diverse field, IT.

    Did "they" though? Maybe some White liberal Gentiles did. But the driving motivation behind integration was always to destroy the White community.

    I am a former New York City school teacher.

    As much as I believed I was ready for the big apple, I wasn't prepared for my first teaching assignment, which was in Bedford Stuyvesant. It was an all-black school, in an all black neighborhood, surrounded by other all black schools.

    The level of educational attainment was shocking, and while I was teaching 7th graders, many of them had writing skills of students in 3rd or 4th grades.

    Were the kids less smart? No! I assure you that, for the most part, these kids were curious, enthusiastic, and full of life.
     
    The performance of students in any grade falls in a normal distrubution, a bell curve. From grade to grade the mean of the performance curve goes up about one-third of a standard deviation, sometimes a little less. In other words, a difference of a standard deviation equates to about 2.5 to 3 grade levels. I derived this from reverse engineering public test data from Texas, California, and Maryland schools.

    So from this teacher's impressions, the black students were three to four years behind in performance. Given that black students are a standard deviation below whites in IQ, you would expect them to be 2.5 to 3 years behind. So most of what she observed is just intelligence differences, with perhaps a little extra gap due to environmental factors in the family, community, or school.

    In fact, since she says that "many of them" were 2.5 to 3 grade levels behind, she's probably talking about the left tail of the black student population, so in that case, IQ explains the entire gap, with no contribution from the environment.

    This part is funny: "Were the kids less smart? No! I assure you that, for the most part, these kids were curious, enthusiastic, and full of life." I think you can be less smart, while still being curious, enthusiastic, and full of life.

    How many of them even have kids?

    As for my kids, they attended or are attending (depending on age) a very integrated school. About half white, the rest Asian, black, Hispanic and whatever. Nor are the Asians a monolithic group. Hmongs and Tibetans and Chinese and Asian kids adopted by whites families are all very different from each other.

    This is a VERY liberal city, but many parents put their kids in suburban schools instead.

    To compete with the suburbs, the high school has tons of honors and AP classes. About the only time the best and worst students see each other is in gym class.

    Probably the most sanctimonious of all of them is Nicholas kristof. I know he and his hot asian wife live in scarsadale in Westchester. Or at least she was hot back in her prime. Scarsdale is a rich town where only Jews and Asians a few regular whites live.

    And I know pretty much every major writer at vox is a Jew that went to dalton, one of the city’s foremost private schools.

    The whole narrative is a bunch of Jews whose parents led white flight from manhattan scolding the 15% of public school attending white families in the city about how their kids education needs to be fixated on “diversity.”

    Wasn't there something recently about Samantha Bee leading an effort to keep her kid's affluently zoned public school in Manhattan from becoming re-zoned and "diverse". They're all the same. Even the Obamas live in a White neighborhood and sent their kids to Sidwell. As the saying goes, diversity for thee but not for me.

    All the White, left-leaning professional middle class families I know steer clear of Black/Brown diversity (though all seem to be OK with Fancy Asians and the Hindu cognitive elite). Maybe they're just against cognitive diversity? Maybe they sense that the children of their already duller affirmative action Black/Brown colleagues won't regress to the same mean?

    Why was this a New York Times article: Three inarticulate black girls do a sit-in?

    [T]he head of their school was in crisis mode, trying to work with students and parents to end the lock-in.

    This is one of the most important political ideas around right now. The ruling managerial class of the West needs us all to pretend we’re stuck forever around the year 1970 or so. For their grand narrative to work, we have to pretend none of their core policies have really been tried yet. According to them:

    – western Europe still needs to import Turks and North Africans to fill the labour shortage
    – the American Negro just needs to be given a job and a chance
    – political bosses need to stop giving all the goodies to their White base
    – the Russians need to be kept out, the Americans need to be kept in and the Germans (with all those WW2 veterans still in their fifties) need to be kept down
    – the West needs to shut down all its smokestack industries
    – women need to be given a chance outside the home
    – people need to stop shaming and punishing those whose love “dare not speak its name”
    – the clergy still has far too much power
    – Jews are only now being given a fair chance
    – people need to quit being so uptight about talking about sex and break out of these restrictive gender roles! Come on guys!

    I seriously am morally exhausted with diversity at the job. It's already hard enough to get through to the blockheads who are in the same cultural sphere, but the tiptoeing around EVERYTHING (have you heard about the Rohingias? no, I don't care ... ohh ohhh!) and the completely bizarre ego-modulated reactions to what should be basic technical questions are tiring.

    You can fairly argue that A. Jews are not fully "White" or European, but looking at the major continental races, they are most definitely 95+% "Caucasian" as are Turks, Syrians, Iranians, etc.

    Britain might have a slightly better system. They call E. Asian people Orientals, and "Asian" usually means Pakistani Muslims (et al).

    As an HBD'er, I'm all for racial classification. Races are just human subspecies. The problem, of course, is that our classification system is inaccurate (the one thing the left is right about). While the left wants to get rid of our racial classification system, most HBD'ers want to correct it.

    I think you should divide Caucasians between at least 2-3 groups, which would make Jews a hybrid (60-ish% White European and 40-ish% Levantine/East Med/whatever. Also note many E. Med. groups are very fair and can easily pass as S. Euro, which may explain why Jews look so White). To be logically consistent, you should also divide up E. Asia between NE Asian and SE Asian and so on. I think 10 or so major human racial divisions would probably cover it.

    I really can't imagine how you could teach to the small minority of brighter blacks in an untracked black school once the material starts getting harder at the middle school level. The material on the SHSAT is not rocket science, just plain old reading, writing and 'rithmetic but it is well beyond what the left half of the black bell curve will ever learn in their lifetimes. Once puberty kicks in, black middle schoolers start getting violent and disruptive, talk back to their teachers, spend all their time sexting their schoolmates, etc. so there is very little chance that the teacher is going to be able to teach the class to a level that would get you a passing grade on the SHSAT (and indeed they don't based on the numbers). If they tried, they would immediately leave behind 90% of the class and they would become uncontrollably disruptive. The best the teacher can hope to do is show them Black History videos or something that keeps them reasonably entertained and thus slightly quieter.

    Probably the most sanctimonious of all of them is Nicholas kristof. I know he and his hot asian wife live in scarsadale in Westchester. Or at least she was hot back in her prime. Scarsdale is a rich town where only Jews and Asians a few regular whites live.

    And I know pretty much every major writer at vox is a Jew that went to dalton, one of the city’s foremost private schools.

    The whole narrative is a bunch of Jews whose parents led white flight from manhattan scolding the 15% of public school attending white families in the city about how their kids education needs to be fixated on “diversity.”

    As much as I believed I was ready for the big apple, I wasn’t prepared for my first teaching assignment, which was in Bedford Stuyvesant. It was an all-black school, in an all black neighborhood, surrounded by other all black schools.

    The level of educational attainment was shocking, and while I was teaching 7th graders, many of them had writing skills of students in 3rd or 4th grades.

    Were the kids less smart? No! I assure you that, for the most part, these kids were curious, enthusiastic, and full of life.

    The performance of students in any grade falls in a normal distrubution, a bell curve. From grade to grade the mean of the performance curve goes up about one-third of a standard deviation, sometimes a little less. In other words, a difference of a standard deviation equates to about 2.5 to 3 grade levels. I derived this from reverse engineering public test data from Texas, California, and Maryland schools.

    So from this teacher’s impressions, the black students were three to four years behind in performance. Given that black students are a standard deviation below whites in IQ, you would expect them to be 2.5 to 3 years behind. So most of what she observed is just intelligence differences, with perhaps a little extra gap due to environmental factors in the family, community, or school.

    In fact, since she says that “many of them” were 2.5 to 3 grade levels behind, she’s probably talking about the left tail of the black student population, so in that case, IQ explains the entire gap, with no contribution from the environment.

    This part is funny: “Were the kids less smart? No! I assure you that, for the most part, these kids were curious, enthusiastic, and full of life.” I think you can be less smart, while still being curious, enthusiastic, and full of life.

    Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes? Even when Leftists see the evidence before them, even if they live it on a daily basis as school teachers, they STILL are incapable of drawing the necessary conclusions.

    When white people reach IQ levels of say 70 or below, it is usually as a result of some sort of brain damage or genetic defect and it is usually very apparent in their speech, gait, affect, etc. - you KNOW that something is wrong the minute you talk to them or even see them - you don't need a test to prove it. However, IQ 70 blacks are just 1 SD below their population mean - there is nothing really wrong with them, they are just on the below average side of normal (for blacks). If you have a conversation with them, they seem perfectly fine. It's only when you try to test their intellectual ability (either formally or by assigning them some task that involves higher level reasoning) that their intellectual deficiencies become apparent.

    I think some sort of forcible community integration is the only answer left to them, excluding elite communities.     The point is NOT to "integrate" the schools in the sense of having white people in every school - as the illustration shows, that's almost mathematically impossible given the few remaining white children and only gets you a handful of whites in each school given the limited number of whites remaining. No one cares if half or 3/4 of the schools in NYC are 100% minority - they are fine with that. No, "integration" means that whites (and Asians) are not allowed to have any bastions of their own like Stuyvesant. NO ONE may be spared from the joys of "diversity".     The first comment on the Times story is from a black Stuyvesant grad from years ago. He links to the Glen show McWhorter conversation, where McWhorter speculates that the end of tracking in NYC middle schools hurt intellectually aspiring blacks a lot. Interesting idea.

    I really can’t imagine how you could teach to the small minority of brighter blacks in an untracked black school once the material starts getting harder at the middle school level. The material on the SHSAT is not rocket science, just plain old reading, writing and ‘rithmetic but it is well beyond what the left half of the black bell curve will ever learn in their lifetimes. Once puberty kicks in, black middle schoolers start getting violent and disruptive, talk back to their teachers, spend all their time sexting their schoolmates, etc. so there is very little chance that the teacher is going to be able to teach the class to a level that would get you a passing grade on the SHSAT (and indeed they don’t based on the numbers). If they tried, they would immediately leave behind 90% of the class and they would become uncontrollably disruptive. The best the teacher can hope to do is show them Black History videos or something that keeps them reasonably entertained and thus slightly quieter.

    I disagree. If not for Asians, the stats on everything from single motherhood to STEM education pursuit by college students would be even more dismal than it already is.

    But even after that, the only noteworthy new educational institution founded in the modern era, Khan Academy, was by an Asian (who also happens to be Muslim). So that answers your question, and refutes your narrative.

    Rye is the richest town in westchester. It is full of Jews and has been since they white flighted the city during the mid 20th century.

    Maybe Eliza had to attend a private high school because she didn’t make the cut for Stuyvesant and she’s permanently pissed about it.

    If you don’t actually have to deal with them day to day, you probably can’t even imagine how annoying these nyc Jew elites are. They are completely insular, having barely spoken to someone who isn’t like them. They frequently very spitefully deride white gentiles in the south or flyover states despite usually not knowing any. They are extremely entitled and well connected. Anytime they have an idea, they call their friends at major news outlets or Hollywood or whatever and expect the funds to be raised and project to be put in action. They get very very angry when they don’t control the agenda for the whole country.

    But I must add that they are only a subset of Jews in nyc. It’s a faction of liberal elite Jews they don’t include orthodox or Hasidic Jews or the more recent immigrants from Eastern Europe, who usually live in Brooklyn. All those people are ok as long as they don’t integrate into the ranks of the Jew elite.

    Here a comment to that article that illustrates the ridiculousness of it all. Urban schools just don't have enough white students to integrate with, even including suburbs, if these figures are correct.

    As of fall 2018 there are 1,135,334 students in the NYC school system, only 15% (170,300) of whom are white. There are 1,840 public schools (including charters), with an average of 617 students per school. (Source: NYC Dept of Ed)

    The tiny percentage of white students means that the closest NYC can come to integrating its schools would be to place an equal number of white students into each of the City's schools, which would mean an average of 93 white students per school and an average of 524 non-white students per school.

    The Mayor and the School Superintendent seem to believe that mixing white students with minority students is the only way to improve educational outcomes for all students, but I don't think 93 white students per school is enough to accomplish that goal. (And isn't it insulting to minority students to suggest that they need exposure to white students to improve or succeed in school?)
     
    I think some sort of forcible community integration is the only answer left to them, excluding elite communities. Chairman Mao had the Down to the Countryside Movement to send privileged urban youths to rustic farms. Maybe New York can force rural white kids to move to black New York City buroughs for integration purposes.

    The point is NOT to “integrate” the schools in the sense of having white people in every school – as the illustration shows, that’s almost mathematically impossible given the few remaining white children and only gets you a handful of whites in each school given the limited number of whites remaining. No one cares if half or 3/4 of the schools in NYC are 100% minority – they are fine with that. No, “integration” means that whites (and Asians) are not allowed to have any bastions of their own like Stuyvesant. NO ONE may be spared from the joys of “diversity”. Everyone must be assimilated to the borg. It drives the totalitarian mind crazy if there is any corner of society which is exempt from its rule. Unless you shoot every last straggler, they may reform and come back against you someday.

    If Stuyvesant and its tradition of academic excellence must be destroyed in order to integrate it, if it becomes 100% black like DeWitt Clinton, if the few remaining white people leave the public schools or even the city, then so be it. It will be a small price to pay to “finally integrate” the NYC public schools and erase that last vestige of racism forever.

    When white people reach IQ levels of say 70 or below, it is usually as a result of some sort of brain damage or genetic defect and it is usually very apparent in their speech, gait, affect, etc. – you KNOW that something is wrong the minute you talk to them or even see them – you don’t need a test to prove it. However, IQ 70 blacks are just 1 SD below their population mean – there is nothing really wrong with them, they are just on the below average side of normal (for blacks). If you have a conversation with them, they seem perfectly fine. It’s only when you try to test their intellectual ability (either formally or by assigning them some task that involves higher level reasoning) that their intellectual deficiencies become apparent.

    When I was a kid, I attended after an school music school where there was a black girl. The girl came from the projects and had high musical ability. I had many conversations where she was one of the kids in the group. She seemed funny and “with it”, like she could intuitively read a social situation.

    But when it came to learning to sight read, she was like 5 grade levels below. She struggled with putting a written note to a played note more than a typical five year old even though she could play by ear better than most. She had limited concentration and no bandwidth for tasks that frustrated her. But somehow she seemed fine at playing video games. I was always baffled by how her mind worked.

    Without seeing her try to sight read, I would have guessed her iq above average. After seeing the sight reading, I have no idea. Call it iq 80, but it’s not the same kind of mind as a white iq 80. It’s like a socially more intuitive and more presentable but less focused version of a white iq 80.

    I have noticed this too -- sub-Saharan African intellectual strengths and weaknesses can be so different from ethnic Europeans (and even more from ethnic East Asians). Of course not always, sometimes people from this background are indistinguishable across the whole range of intellectual abilities, but often they have a different complex of relative strengths and weaknesses. It is such a shame that no one is allowed to study this, so that we could understand it better. Society had a better grasp of this difference in 1919 than it does in 2019. While science and society have progressed on many fronts, this is one area where we have become notably, and deliberately, more ignorant.

    Here is another empirical example to add to yours, just from casual observation: sub-Saharan African ethnic people tend on average to be absolutely terrible at map-reading.

Asia between NE Asian and SE Asian and so on. I think 10 or so major human racial divisions would probably cover it.

    Sure! Stay out of programming, as it's overrun with H1Bs, resulting in stagnant pay and crappy work environments unless you have a top notch resume. Network admin isn't quite as bad, but creative types may find it boring. Generally, IT has become pretty unstable as the skills have become commodities.

    If you have good people skills, sound logic and like to fix and create interesting things, I suggest welding, appliance repair or machinist. The globalists and US education system killed IT as a career for young American men.

    As for my kids, they attended or are attending (depending on age) a very integrated school. About half white, the rest Asian, black, Hispanic and whatever. Nor are the Asians a monolithic group. Hmongs and Tibetans and Chinese and Asian kids adopted by whites families are all very different from each other.

    This is a VERY liberal city, but many parents put their kids in suburban schools instead.

    To compete with the suburbs, the high school has tons of honors and AP classes. About the only time the best and worst students see each other is in gym class.

    I actually think most of them do. I know the NYT and WaPo reporters I follow have kids, well the straight ones do. Haberman, Sorkin come to mind as being parents. Jake Tapper’s daughter published a book about girls raising their hands at school.

    It’s really weird how blacks can seem like they have entirely normal intelligence until you set them to a task that involves symbolic reasoning.

    When I was a kid, I attended after an school music school where there was a black girl. The girl came from the projects and had high musical ability. I had many conversations where she was one of the kids in the group. She seemed funny and “with it”, like she could intuitively read a social situation.

    But when it came to learning to sight read, she was like 5 grade levels below. She struggled with putting a written note to a played note more than a typical five year old even though she could play by ear better than most. She had limited concentration and no bandwidth for tasks that frustrated her. But somehow she seemed fine at playing video games. I was always baffled by how her mind worked.

    Without seeing her try to sight read, I would have guessed her iq above average. After seeing the sight reading, I have no idea. Call it iq 80, but it’s not the same kind of mind as a white iq 80. It’s like a socially more intuitive and more presentable but less focused version of a white iq 80.

    Mimid intelligence.

    I disagree. If not for Asians, the stats on everything from single motherhood to STEM education pursuit by college students would be even more dismal than it already is.

    It’s really weird how blacks can seem like they have entirely normal intelligence until you set them to a task that involves symbolic reasoning.

    When I was a kid, I attended after an school music school where there was a black girl. The girl came from the projects and had high musical ability. I had many conversations where she was one of the kids in the group. She seemed funny and “with it”, like she could intuitively read a social situation.

    But when it came to learning to sight read, she was like 5 grade levels below. She struggled with putting a written note to a played note more than a typical five year old even though she could play by ear better than most. She had limited concentration and no bandwidth for tasks that frustrated her. But somehow she seemed fine at playing video games. I was always baffled by how her mind worked.

    Without seeing her try to sight read, I would have guessed her iq above average. After seeing the sight reading, I have no idea. Call it iq 80, but it’s not the same kind of mind as a white iq 80. It’s like a socially more intuitive and more presentable but less focused version of a white iq 80.

    I have noticed this too — sub-Saharan African intellectual strengths and weaknesses can be so different from ethnic Europeans (and even more from ethnic East Asians). Of course not always, sometimes people from this background are indistinguishable across the whole range of intellectual abilities, but often they have a different complex of relative strengths and weaknesses. It is such a shame that no one is allowed to study this, so that we could understand it better. Society had a better grasp of this difference in 1919 than it does in 2019. While science and society have progressed on many fronts, this is one area where we have become notably, and deliberately, more ignorant.

    This is true to an extent. After a nearly all-white elementary school, going to a diverse Jr. High and High School motivated me to creatively problem-solve a way to not get beat-up, enroll in less diverse classes, learn more deeply and eventually find a career in what used to be a very non-diverse field, IT.

    If you have good people skills, sound logic and like to fix and create interesting things, I suggest welding, appliance repair or machinist. The globalists and US education system killed IT as a career for young American men.

    Bribing a politician to commute the sentence of a convicted criminal may be legal but isn’t ethical.

    Assembling a mob to enforce the original sentence may be illegal but it is entirely ethical.

    An honest commentator would condemn both of these things. Neither money nor mobs should influence the course of justice.

    Interesting example. My sense is pilots tend to do this. I had a navigator (car passenger) once who insisted on using compass directions rather than left/right. I found that infuriating in unfamiliar terrain where I lacked good reference points. He was looking at a map of course.

    I have no data in regards to what causes a preference in people. I suspect there is a strong correlation between the ability to read a map. I've had people sitting shotgun who struggle to describe what they are looking at on their phone using Google Maps. Especially if the view rotates the map around versus keeping North facing "up" all the time. Maybe a correlation to higher math or visual skills?
