From NBC News:

Russia-linked Twitter accounts promoted ‘doxxing’ over racial tension videos

Clemson University researchers found videos of confrontations between white people and minorities received instrumental early social media promotion from inauthentic accounts.New research shows how effective Russian disinformation can be in influencing public opinion
AUG. 8, 201901:38
By Ben Popken, Richard Engel, Kate Benyon-Tinker and Monika Ghosh

In October 2018, a cellphone video of a Brooklyn woman calling 911 to claim a 9-year-old black boy grabbed her rear went viral on social media, becoming one of a series of videos that activists and journalists seized upon as an example of the everyday racism faced by minorities in America.

That woman became known as “Cornerstore Caroline.” Other individuals who became the subjects of similar stories would be known by nicknames such as “Basketball Becky” or “Taco Truck Tammy.”

Now, Clemson University researchers have found those videos received instrumental early social media promotion from inauthentic accounts, some of which have since been removed by Twitter and linked by U.S. intelligence to Russia’s efforts to stoke racial tensions in America.

The tweets by the suspicious accounts drew 50-90 percent of the initial retweets before the stories took off, an indication their content played a leading role in drumming up attention, according to the researchers’ pre-publication findings.

Darren Linvill, an associate professor of communications, and Patrick Warren, an associate professor of economics, both at Clemson, identified more than 300 tweets from almost 30 suspicious Twitter accounts that appeared to look for and promote videos of racially tense incidents.

“Fundamentally, what they’re trying to do is put a spotlight and rub salt in the wound of these divisive issues,” Linvill told NBC News, referring to the strategy of using social media to exacerbate racial tensions.

As opposed to what, say, NBC News tries to do by, say, re-editing a George Zimmerman clip to inflame racial hate against whites.

The accounts reposted or tweeted the videos, framed the content as explicit discrimination, used emotionally loaded language, and employed calls to action, including encouraging people to publish the participants’ personal information — a strategy known as “doxxing.” …

Disinformation experts told NBC News that the goal of the inauthentic accounts is to highlight and inflame existing tensions to destabilize America, a strategy also used by Russia’s disinformation campaign leading up to the 2016 election.

In contrast, American mainstream media is constantly pointing out that video of discrimination against blacks is almost always taken out of context, and should always be viewed in light of the order of higher magnitude propensity of blacks to commit murder.

… These stories that the accounts focused on followed a pattern: a video uploaded online showing a white person calling or threatening to call the authorities on a minority. The objects of the outrage were often given alliterative nicknames, on the lines of “Taco Truck Tammy” or “Basketball Becky.”

As the accounts promoted the videos, online outrage would build, along with calls to expose and promote the phone number, address and other personal information of the person.

Sometimes, all the accounts added was a nudge, merely reposting a video and tweeting, “Twitter, do your thing.”

A year ago, I pointed out that all this BBQ Becky hysteria in the prestige press of the USA was due to an inability to understand the inevitable tradeoff between Type I and Type II Errors. But now I know why my simple, obvious, healing perspective has gone absolutely nowhere in the US media in the year since: Kremlin mind control rays.

  8. Vilifying Russia is extremely dangerous–Imperial Washington has already backed Russia into a corner by expanding NATO to Russia’s border and accusing it of meddling in U.S. elections; a clearer case of projection never existed. Now it accuses Russia of trying to inflame racial tensions in the U.S. Where is the evidence of Russian editing of cellphone videos and then redesseminating them? Efforts such as these could lead to war with a country that is basically just trying to stay out of the way of Imperial Washington.

  9. Hopscotch says:

NBC is one of the worst offenders about this. They will take left-leaning Twitter “protests” or Change.org petitions — which are being promoted by a handful of irrelevant, likely duplicate accounts — and then push them as if they were a national story. The most recent example is the SoulCycle/Equinox protests, which NBC reported,

As of this morning, the Change.org petition “Demand Equinox end its support of Donald Trump” (which of course NBC linked to in its report) had 5000 signees. Kind of low for a national story.

How many signees were there in the hours prior to NBC linking to it? Zero. See Google Cache Version of Change.org Website

  29. @Reg Cæsar

‘I want to see a video of a black man turned down for a purchase at a white-owned gun store. And the reaction in the media.’

This would be so easy to compile. All you need is the necessary cooperative gun store in an area with a reasonable supply of black vagrants — most of whom can be relied upon to fail background checks. You then pay them twenty bucks apiece plus the fee for the background check ($10 in my state) to go in and try to buy a hand gun. $300 bucks later you’ve got footage of ten blacks in a row being told they’ve failed the background check.

The outrage! Around here, it would probably boost the gun shop’s popularity, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t go along with it.

Back in the Cold War they were supporting left-wing movements to undermine the USA, now it’s right-wing movements. In the end, it’s rival great power versus rival great power.

Russia only supports the alt-right insofar as the alt-right fighting with the ctrl-left weakens America. Remember that psyop when they started dueling rallies on the same day? They support Orban and Le Pen because they weaken the EU, which is a rival power bloc.

Honestly, if I were the Russians, I would be tempted to “interfere” in US politics because it’s just such a tempting target in this current environment – low cost, high reward. Again, that’s something the left has contributed to, so they have no one to blame but themselves. Well, conservatism inc. helped out: the trade off for cheap labor and mass immigration is an easily manipulated, fractious society – hopelessly divided and low trust. Some of us didn’t think an extra 5% to the Dow Jones Industrial average was worth it, but we were overruled. Enjoy deepstate. This is the future. Maybe they realize that; thus, all the leaked stories about hacking the Russian power grid and hysterical intelligence service efforts to prevent “election interference” and “propaganda”. Why did England provide safe haven for Karl Marx and for all kinds of revolutionaries from the Russian Empire? Why did England want to help the filthy rich Jewish Russian revolutionary Alexander Herzen?

Does all that have anything to do with the cultural legacy of Anglo-Saxon Puritanism having been a Judaizing heresy? Anything to do with the cultural legacy of archetypal WASP Oliver Cromwell, who despised the vast majority of the natives of the British Isles as inherently inferior morally and intellectually to Judaizing WASPs, making the deal with Jewish bankers? OT, Epstein has “killed himself” one day after revelations concerning his relationship with prominent Democrats. He was a known suicide risk but I suppose you can’t watch someone 24/7 – it’s not like he was in a Federal prison or something. No wait….

A huge victory for the Dems. Not only will Epstein not be able to testify, Dems will now be in a position to accuse Trump of arranging the murder of this federal prisoner.

Doesn’t have to make sense to score political points.

But I once knew a guy named Rich White.

I came across this story while reading about the steroid cop who buried four bodies in his backyard. This is the guy who ran over ~10 Marine bikers, killing 7. He had been convicted of DUI in high school, got a CDL, was arrested in TX for disorderly behaviour(?), was found high and suicidal while operating a motor vehicle in CT, then ran over the bikers in MA when their DMV didn’t process the notification quickly enough. Oh year, ICE has now put a detainer out on him as well.

The original ‘North American’ colonies were saturated, in a large part, by an overwhelming fear and hysteria over ‘witchcraft’ and ‘black magic’, as seen, for example at Salem.

“Saturated”? It was in the Town of Salem, and didn’t even spread to the Village of Salem. (And if you don’t know the difference between a town and a village, you have no business commenting on New England history.)

The really crazy stuff, the stake-burning, the seventeen-word names, the drawing-and-quartering, happened back across the sea, with only isolated incidents, if any, on this side.

At the end when they showed (((her))) that lil’ Quitalvius was “innocent”, you can see the low IQ bystanders all smiling and laughing. If that had been real, that woman’s arse would have been beat 10 seconds after she accused the kid.

    Totally false, IMHO.

“…apart from Trump’s trade efforts, our China plan is to lay down on our backs.”

Maybe not so much. Beijing has started to call out Washington for stirring up trouble in Hong Kong, maybe intending to provoke a color revolution in the PRC.

You have likely seen the photo released a few days ago of some woman from the US State Department meeting with some of the “grassroots” “Democracy” activists at a Hong Kong hotel.

This may well suggest to the Chinese that the US is not pursuing trade negotiations in good faith, and that trade imbalances are only the tip of the iceberg. It’s almost as if global private finance cannot wait to sink its claws into the world’s largest economy.

Epstein was under suicide watch, meaning that he was being closely monitored and the clothing and bedding was such that they couldn’t be made into a rope. But he somehow found a way, and thoughtfully did it on a Friday, to reduce media exposure.

The cell where he did it should be renamed Fort Marcy Park, or maybe the Seth Rich Memorial Cell.

He’s presumably trying to invoke the accountant Magnitsky, who was overweight and died of complications from a heart attack. Magnitsky was worthless to our oppressing creeps alive (not that they killed him either, fat and Russian medical response did that), but once he was dead, they built a cult around him (in which Magnitsky ascends from mere accountant to a Slavic WJ Bryant fearlessly confronting power) and used the cult to pass self-destructively bad laws which guarantee neocon stupidity in our foreign policy for the foreseeable future.

    Russians, of course.

Top MSNBC host links RUSSIA to convicted pedophile Epstein’s death

With millionaire Jeffrey Epstein found dead in a jail cell by apparent suicide, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough wasted no time theorizing on sex-trafficking rings or powerful pedophile clients. Instead, he brought in “the Russians.”

“A guy who had information that would have destroyed rich and powerful men’s lives ends up dead in his jail cell,” Scarborough, who was once a US Congressman for Florida, tweeted on Saturday. “How predictably…Russian.”

Low-grade “researchers” trying to apply their supposedly mad skillz are probably combing twitter logs with state-of-the-art network analysis software to prove this as we post.

This is true. Russian despotism grows directly from the fact that Russia is very big, empty, and diffuse. Great autonomy is possible. In the 60s (not sure of exact date) Soviet explorers came across a Siberian community whose first question to them was about the current Tsar. I knew a Baltic history enthusiast who insisted that both Latvia and Ukraine actually had resistance movements in the woods as late as the Krushchev period.

  116. I’m still waiting for an HBD blogger to comment on the biological propensity of women to be tattle-tales. I’ve always known that subconsciously, but the “Becky” controversy made me remember dozens of times when a woman scolded or snitched on me or someone near me due to the breaking of some arbitrary rule. By contrast, a typical man will say, unless the action threatens his property or his family, none of my business.

Herzen was the bastard of a minor nobleman (but one who amassed a fair amount of wealth). Herzen’s mother was his father’s long term mistress, and she was said to be Bavarian and Lutheran. But she also was said to know Yiddish, and apparently she evidenced no meaningful knowledge of or interest in Christian teachings and ritual.

If you were an 18th/early 19th century Russian country gentleman of some means and your mistress was a German Jew, you almost certainly would not have admitted it. You would have said she was Lutheran.

That Herzen almost immediately became a Rothschild favorite is more than telling.

Information is to women what strength is to men. The bigger and tougher a man is, the higher his status among other men. The more a woman knows, the higher her status among among women. It’s just another reason why men and women can’t be friends, as everything you tell your woman, no matter how delicate, will soon be the common knowledge of all her friends.
