NBC Orders ‘Law & Order: Hate Crimes’ Series From Dick Wolf & Warren Leight

by Nellie Andreeva • tip
September 4, 2018 12:06pm

As Law & Order: SVU is heading into its record-tying 20th season, NBC is expanding the Law & Order franchise with a 13-episode order to Law & Order: Hate Crimes, from Law & Order boss Dick Wolf.

Co-created with one of Wolf’s top lieutenants, former Law & Order: SVU showrunner Warren Leight, the latest Law & Order installment is based on New York’s actual Hate Crimes Task Force …

The new Law & Order series will be introduced as a planted spinoff from SVU, with the first incarnation of the new unit appearing in the latter part of the upcoming season of the Mariska Hargitay-starring series.

This is the seventh Law & Order series, following mothership Law & Order, SVU, Criminal Intent, Trial By Jury, LA and last season’s anthology True Crime.

“As Law & Order: SVU enters its remarkable 20th season, it is exciting to get back into business with Dick Wolf on a new Law & Order incarnation that feels extremely timely,” said Lisa Katz, Co-President of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “Considering that last year there was a double-digit rise in hate crimes in our 10 largest cities — the highest total in over a decade — it seemed like this topic is begging to be explored.”

…. Law & Order: Hate Crimes is set in New York City, where crimes motivated by discrimination are vigorously investigated by an elite, specially trained team of investigators. Going behind the headlines and viral videos, these diverse, dedicated and passionate detectives will stop at nothing to bring these criminals to justice.

“As with all of my crime shows, I want to depict what’s really going on in our cities and shine a light on the wide-ranging victims and show that justice can prevail,” Wolf said. … That’s what I hope we can do with this new show in a world where hate crimes have reached an egregious level.”

Added Leight, “I’m extremely impressed by the actual men and women investigating these cases in a city as complicated and diverse as New York. The work they are doing puts them on the front lines in a battle for the soul of our city and nation. I’m thrilled about the chance to reunite with Dick and NBC to portray the reality of this crisis.”

… Wolf, 71, who has five drama series on the air (in addition to 3 cable docuseries) …

There have been multiple attempts by the broadcast networks to launch a series in the past few years about the workings of a hate crimes unit, including one that went to pilot at CBS last year, untitled Jenny Lumet drama.

Will Law & Order: Hate Crimes depict any Hate Hoaxes?

Here’s my elevator pitch for how L&O could take on the admittedly sensitive topic of Hate Hoaxes. My episode will be ripped from the headlines that so alarmed Matthew Yglesias when after the 2016 election, cactus-like swastikas were found in the apparently Trump-voter-infested Womyn’s Dorm at the New School for Social Research in Greenwich Village.

In my script, the well-heeled members of the Mashie-Niblick Club, a 62nd street men’s town club for Upper East Side country club golfers, report finding Hammer & Sickle graffiti in their men’s locker room. “The locker room is supposed to be our Safe Space!” the captains of industry whine. They demand the arrest of a new illegal alien locker room attendant, a refugee fleeing Central American fascist death squads.

But detective Mariska Hargitay notes that the ineptly drawn Hammer & Sickle points not to the left like it should, but instead the arm and hammer lean to the the right. No True Marxist would draw that. In fact, the golfers’ Hammer & Sickle is drawn like a … Swastika.

This revelation leads the tall, handsome, but conscience-stricken chairman of the club, played by Armie Hammer, to make an emotional speech to his fellow members. Armie reveals how his own great-grandfather, oil tycoon Hamand Armor, had been blackballed from membership in this very Mashie-Niblick Club, despite being a celebrated plutocrat who had been edged out in the vote for the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize solely by the electoral machinations of the Dalai Lama, that bastard.

Armie explains that his great-grandfather was not let into this golf club of his dreams just because he was a Communist abortionist who had killed a woman through malpractice and then, after fleeing to the Soviet Union, had gotten rich as a friend of Lenin and Stalin, fencing for them property they had stolen from the Bolshevik state’s exiled and murdered Class Enemies.

This memory of discrimination against his great-grandfather arouses Armie’s conscience. “I’ve tried to pretend my blood is as corrupt as yours,” Armie thunders to the other members. “But one-eighth of me still hungers for … Justice!”

So Armie turns state’s evidence and reveals the swastikas in the locker room were a Hate Hoax perpetrated by a neo-Nazi/KKK terrorist cell within the Mashie-Niblick Club led by club vice-chairman Beef Stanton (played by William Hurt), a notorious rightwing political advisor to President Rump. This Great White Defendant is sentenced to 20 years hard labor and the undocumented migrant he had conspired to frame is awarded his coveted 8:00 AM Saturday morning tee time at Squashy Hollow Country Club in the Hamptons.

In an emotional final scene, the board votes to induct posthumously into the Mashie-Niblick Club Armie’s long-blackballed great-grandfather. In the hall where photos of distinguished late members are honored, Armie and Beef Stanton’s replacement as Vice Chairman, the persecuted undocumented worker, solemnly hang a picture of Armie’s great-grandfather:

I've always said one of the primary motivators of leftism is irrational paranoia. The left is filled with many inadequate personalities that never grew up or learned how to handle setbacks without freaking out. Unfortunately, by the time they reach adulthood, there is no curing them. No psychiatrist or medication can make them grow up or become rational.

The school of hard knocks, which is what matures normal people, only makes the irrational and immature undergo further emotional deterioration because they don't have any coping skills. Those coping skills have to be learned in your childhood and teenage years for you to have them available as an adult.

You have to deliberately choose rational responses when you're under stress. Nobody has the privilege of getting rationality handed to them as an innate reaction to stress. If you force yourself to behave rationally when things go haywire, you will benefit hugely, and it will start to become a habit. The left has no understanding of this.
    , @Intelligent Dasein
I don't care what unintentional configuration her fingers are in. She's a raven-haired piece of hotness, and that is the only reason she's getting any attention at all.

Also, despite my more than passing familiarity with the currents of European Identitarianism, I had no idea that the "okie-dokie" sign had become a White Power trope, and I'm willing to bet that probably 95% of the American people don't know that either, or give a damn.

There is something truly insane about accusing people of flashing cryptic symbols or embedding secret messages in their speeches and writings when they clearly aren't doing so. This is the yellowest of yellow journalism; the politics of personal destruction ratcheted up to 11. It is impossible to defend against these attacks save by force.

Here’s the latest case from the NYPD hate crime unit:

The man who was busted painting swastikas on FDNY ambulances should be cut some slack because he’s an “artist,” his lawyers argued during his arraignment on felony hate-crime and vandalism charges Sunday.

Jem Ibrahimov, 42, was caught Saturday morning outside the Engine 93/Ladder 45/Battalion 13 station house on West 181st Street in Fort George — where he allegedly scrawled the hate symbol on a door and wrote “Nazi rapist pigs” and “pedophiles.” He’s also accused of drawing the symbol on four ambulances outside FDNY EMS Station 13 on West 172nd Street in Washington Heights.

Ibrahimov pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of aggravated harassment, criminal mischief as a hate crime, making graffiti, and possessing graffiti instruments at his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal court Sunday — where his attorney argued he should not face stiff bail because he’s an artist with ties to the community.

“He’s an artist,” said lawyer Barbara Ho. “He worked as a painter.”

Ibrahimov graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn with a degree in fine arts in 1998, according to a profile on networking website Harri.

Somehow I suspect this case will not be featured in an episode.

Towards the midpoint of the show, he has seen so many Al Sharpton race hucksters that he realizes Diversity and Intersectionality are little more than profitable scams. As such, he hires some cronies to create hate hoaxes left and right to rack in the donations.

Better Call Saul goes up to the edge of acceptable discourse without offending any SWPLs. No way my show would get produced, but you can only wish!

NBC has used its TV propaganda to produce squalid anti-White slop that must be mucked out.

Trump must call up the American People’s Army to go to Philadelphia and defeat all elements of the Roberts mob that controls Comcast and NBC. Once the Roberts mob is legally removed from power, Trump can use the Comcast and NBC facilities to begin broadcasting TV news and TV entertainment shows that honor and respect White Core America.

The Roberts mob must be brought to heel by President Trump.

People can watch what they choose but why anyone would want to watch ‘made up’ crime drama when TV offers so many REAL crime shows is a mystery. Snapped, Forensic Files, First 48 are just some of them. Live PD is horrible but A&E has a winner on its hands if it dumps cops searching cars for dope and uses the police shoulder cam footage it has. I’ve only seen it shown a couple of times but they’ve got some really disturbing footage ( to liberals) of just what kind of ‘people’ police encounter.

TLR's view in a nutshell: Nike uses really, really cheap labor in Nork sweatshops that are effectively controlled by PRC biggies. Trump's trade reform deals may leave Nike out on a limb. Nike has planted its flag where its sweatshops operate. So Nike doesn't care what White male Americans think, Nike cares about pleasing its sweatshop business partners.

Feh, the whole SVU series is hologrammatic. If you seen one episode you saw them all. It applies to all the formula series like Bones, NCIS and other SVU like shows.

NCIS and New Orleans NICS are especially over the top PC/MC. The latter show has a dwarf, a black guy in a wheel chair(resident nerd, genius), black Forensics woman, etc. It’s hitting all the points.

Even better both shows get viewers used to warrantless searches, abuse of authority, etc.

Ever since Chris Meloni left SVU it’s been called the Mariska Hagarity show. It’s all about her. But her character is so over the top nutter it’s not even funny. It makes her look like a fire breathing harpy. But hey in real life she’s a SJW as well. Ended up a nut just like mom.

About 25 years ago, there was for a time a Western series starring Anthony Zerbe called The Young Riders. One of the historian-consultants on the show wrote an article for Chronicles on the comedy of attempting to work with the director and writers. The show's characters (who were supposed to be Pony Express riders, ca. 1860) included a black, a woman, an Indian and a deaf guy. And Anthony Zerbe. Two Jews, a cripple, and James Watt not included.

My episode will be ripped from the headlines that so alarmed Matthew Yglesias, in which after the 2016 election, cactus-like swastikas were found within the seemingly secure Womyn’s Dorm at the New School for Social Research in Greenwich Village.

    Swastikas are everywhere. See: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/bob-woodwards-new-book-reveals-a-nervous-breakdown-of-trumps-presidency/2018/09/04/b27a389e-ac60-11e8-a8d7-0f63ab8b1370_story.html

Cohn came to regard the president as “a professional liar” and threatened to resign in August 2017 over Trump’s handling of a deadly white-supremacist rally in Charlottesville. Cohn, who is Jewish, was especially shaken when one of his daughters found a swastika on her college dorm room.

The president is apparently a wizard of an immense skill – he can call forth the powers of Hell and make swastikas appear everywhere.

A couple of weeks ago, I was walking to a restaurant from a parking lot when I saw an old black man bent over in half in the middle of the street making a high pitched noise. He seemed to be in distress. And everyone else just passed by him at a distance.

I, too, kept a bit of distance at first (you never know if he's Schizophrenic, on drugs, or has a history of sudden, violent behavior). But I didn't want to leave a man who could be having a medical problem, so I called 911 and kept a watch on him from about 20 feet away.

Funny thing about the 911 call. This area is mostly white and Asian with a few Hispanics, meaning very few blacks. When I called a dispatcher and began to describe what was going on, the first question out of the female dispatcher with a very strong ghetto black accent was, "Is he black or Hispanic? [A long pause.] Or... uh, uh, is he white?" I got the feeling that the bulk of calls about incidents such as this was made up of blacks and Hispanics even in this very white-Asian area.

In any case, I started to hear the EMS sirens from a distance, so I did get closer to the man to reassure him, "Sir, just hang on. Help is on the way. You'll be all right." Suddenly, the man straightened up at this point and started to scream at me, "I didn't aks you to call for help! I don't need no help! I didn't ask you! Why you getting in my way?" and so on. It was odd how he was in such distress one moment and the suddenly he was belligerent.

The EMS personnel did determine that he was having some sort of a medical emergency and took him to the nearest ER.

Here's the latest case from the NYPD hate crime unit:

The hate hoaxer has a ex-USSR Muslim surname, likely Azeri, but possibly Chechen.

It's hitting all the points.

Even better both shows get viewers used to warrantless searches, abuse of authority, etc.

Ever since Chris Meloni left SVU it's been called the Mariska Hagarity show. It's all about her. But her character is so over the top nutter it's not even funny. It makes her look like a fire breathing harpy. But hey in real life she's a SJW as well. Ended up a nut just like mom.

About 25 years ago, there was for a time a Western series starring Anthony Zerbe called The Young Riders. One of the historian-consultants on the show wrote an article for Chronicles on the comedy of attempting to work with the director and writers. The show’s characters (who were supposed to be Pony Express riders, ca. 1860) included a black, a woman, an Indian and a deaf guy. And Anthony Zerbe. There’s 13 episodes. I’m hoping for at least one non-white on non-white hate crime. They’ll probably make it an African American being a nativist bigot towards some kind of East Asian immigrant.

I’ll put money on at least one reverse honour-killing like they did in the Danish series The Killing. White male relative or friend/acquaintance/stalker classmate with unrequited love towards the perfect white girl kills her for her relationship with a Muslim. The shows are not documentaries. They are entertainment, escapism, fiction, a break from reality. So it goes without saying that most of the lawbreakers will be white.

NBC are in the business of selling viewers to ad agencies and the viewers don't want to watch criminal reality shows 'ripped' from anywhere in their leisure time.

That's why a disproportionate number of the perps in SVU are white, sometimes rich, alpha males - the kind of guy females fantasize about saying "no" to while secretly saying "yes": https://www.care2.com/causes/rape-ranked-as-third-most-popular-sexual-fantasy-for-women.html

The true crime forums and trial blogs are largely run and patronized by white females.

Yes, it did matter. The Pony Express relied on small, lightweight boys so as not to tire the horses out over the distances between relay stations – I’m referring here to boys such as William Cody and Johnny Fry – I knew them both and they were sassy little chaps.

    O/T

    Here we go again

    http://fortune.com/2018/09/04/immigration-worker-shortage-california-vineyards/

The ongoing battle over immigration could hit wine lovers in the wallet as many California vineyards are struggling to find seasonal workers to assist with harvesting the 2018 crop.
Wine makers face a perfect storm of problems regarding the issue: The ongoing battle about U.S. immigration policies and competition from other higher-paying, local industries, such as construction, which are helping the area recover from last year’s wildfires.

To make the jobs more attractive to both locals and seasonal workers who are being wooed by construction companies, which can offer year-round pay, vineyards are increasing their wages during harvest to as much as $30 per hour. (Pay rates for the rest of the year have gone up as well.)

If California was to become an independent country, what would their immigration policies be like? Mass immigration is used as a weapon of demographic displacement, but would it matter as much in a country where most GOP voters would have left?

I'd love to be able to quantify the trend towards the news headlines sounding like sardonic iSteve post titles. I honestly thought that's what that was and not the actual headline. They're actually calling it 'Law & Order: Hate Crimes'. What a time to be alive.

There's 13 episodes. I'm hoping for at least one non-white on non-white hate crime. They'll probably make it an African American being a nativist bigot towards some kind of East Asian immigrant.

I'll put money on at least one reverse honour-killing like they did in the Danish series The Killing. White male relative or friend/acquaintance/stalker classmate with unrequited love towards the perfect white girl kills her for her relationship with a Muslim. (Though they kind of already did this in 'The Night Of' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Night_Of)

“There was an episode of Law and Order SVU where the rapist was a redneck auto mechanic who happened to live in Manhattan.”

There was an SVU episode in the early seasons where a couple of racist white cops with Southern accents murdered some black girl by tying her to a tree. The episode ends with the mulatto NYC detective angrily rushing into the interrogation room to denounce the “new South” in a bizarre rant. Yeah, that’s likely. In any case, the episode itself struck me as basically blood libel – an attempt to disparage an entire group based on a – fictional – crime, thereby promoting the virtuosity of the critic and possibly inciting violence against the target. Typical leftist trash. Explains how they’ve moved on to Confederate grave desecration.

I don't subscribe to that point of view about Asians, recently revived by Unz's own "Lance Welton," paragon of wisdom that he is.

And although this is now getting rather off-topic, I might as well say it here since it was brought up. I don't think that words such as "innovation" and "creativity," when used as social or psychological descriptors, refer to anything real whatsoever. These are bizarre idiosyncrasies of the present cultural climate that will one day come to seem highly period-specific when readers of a future generation plough into the texts of our era. Kind of like when we read books from the 1800s and come across "ratiocination."

I always thought it was bizarre to teach young children "how to think, not engage in rote-memorization" as the current mantra goes. How are young, growing brains devoid of memorized facts supposed to learn how to think? Children learn to how to think once they are aware of a sufficient body of knowledge and can begin to relate one bit of it to another!

That's why my wife and I have homeschooled our children in the classical Catholic education curriculum, which, in academics, emphasizes the fundamentals of a bygone era. Much of my children's reading materials is very, shall we say, "dated."

I don't think it's possible to top the COPS, "Imma Get You Bitch," incident:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HN9FfLCu1cI

A couple of weeks ago, I was walking to a restaurant from a parking lot when I saw an old black man bent over in half in the middle of the street making a high pitched noise. He seemed to be in distress. And everyone else just passed by him at a distance.

I, too, kept a bit of distance at first (you never know if he’s Schizophrenic, on drugs, or has a history of sudden, violent behavior). But I didn’t want to leave a man who could be having a medical problem, so I called 911 and kept a watch on him from about 20 feet away.

Funny thing about the 911 call. This area is mostly white and Asian with a few Hispanics, meaning very few blacks. When I called a dispatcher and began to describe what was going on, the first question out of the female dispatcher with a very strong ghetto black accent was, “Is he black or Hispanic? [A long pause.] Or… uh, uh, is he white?” I got the feeling that the bulk of calls about incidents such as this was made up of blacks and Hispanics even in this very white-Asian area.

In any case, I started to hear the EMS sirens from a distance, so I did get closer to the man to reassure him, “Sir, just hang on. Help is on the way. You’ll be all right.” Suddenly, the man straightened up at this point and started to scream at me, “I didn’t aks you to call for help! I don’t need no help! I didn’t ask you! Why you getting in my way?” and so on. It was odd how he was in such distress one moment and the suddenly he was belligerent.

The EMS personnel did determine that he was having some sort of a medical emergency and took him to the nearest ER.

Very natural reaction. Bad as it was for him, he asserted his autonomy and competence.

Que a lot of entertainment Jews, on set and involved in production of this “hate Whitey, love Brownie no matter what” effort, who think constantly about how problematic the interned Palestinians are and how victimized Israel is because of their presence. If only the Palestinians would go away and stop existing as constant reminders of Jewish Hollywood’s rank hypcrisy.

Any takers on how often “Jews as victims” episodes come up?

It’s possible that it could be every third episode. Realistically, every 4-5 episodes. The chance of Jews as persecutor episodes, in spite of Jews running the largest and longest running open air ethnic internment camp in modern history? Zero. You know, because they’ve got a lot of ground to make up for their PR slippage in the past 15 years or so. PR slippage meaning pure public awareness of their cumulative actions over the past 200 years.

My parents hosted the bridal dinner for my doomed first marriage at The Links on East 62nd, and I’ve been there a bunch of other times besides: it’s a really nice club. The dinner happened because old family friend Howdy Phipps is a member. You can buy his house if you have something around $30 million, and I’d say it’s a steal at that price. Really:

    https://www.townandcountrymag.com/leisure/real-estate/g21091838/carnegie-steel-heir-howard-phipps-jr-selling-old-westbury-estate/

I was walking around there with him one day shortly after that first marriage of mine blew up and I moved back to the States, and he mentioned that Law & Order SVU had recently shot an episode on the grounds. This was like 18 years ago. He specifically mentioned being pretty taken with Mariska Hargitay, whom I’d only barely heard of because–bizarrely–a friend had offered to fix me up with her.

That didn’t happen: by the time it might have, she was already dating someone else. She’s Jayne Mansfield’s daughter by the way, which I find really odd.

Last time I was at The Links it still had one of those structural movement monitor plaques (whatever they’re called) affixed to its facade as a result of having been adjacent to the townhouse where as I recall a disgruntled guy in the midst of a divorce blew up himself and his home some years ago. That wasn’t me, by the way.

NBC failing to immediately sign with Dick Wolf for Season 2 would itself be an anti-Semitic hate crime.

It keeps getting harder and harder to practice parody. Yet it’s easy to forget: if say 5% of Americans Get The Joke and another 5% are Triggered (thus also get it), the remaining 90% could read Steve’s post and have no idea what he’s talking about. That probably includes most of the Voluntary Auxiliary Thought Police, who must rely on their betters for targets.

I don’t subscribe to that point of view about Asians

Oh, I wasn't suggesting you did. I was just being lighthearted since that stereotype comes up often with certain commenters (and probably with Mr. Sailer himself) frequently when "yellow..." is involved.

I don’t think that words such as “innovation” and “creativity,” when used as social or psychological descriptors, refer to anything real whatsoever.

While I wouldn't quite go as far, I would suggest that there is a weird fetish about "newness" (or coming up with something novel no matter how trivial) as such in today's climate, including in education.

    No, just timeless.

  115. There was a movie about a college hate hoax based on a play, called, Spinning Into Butter.

It starts out very PC buts surprises when it depicts a hate hoax. It dances with devil but never really leaves the PC reservation. Sailer’s right though, it would be great if they had a comedy of errors, Tom Wolfesque movie about a hate hoax

Anyway, Spinning Into Butter got bad reviews but I enjoyed it because of its brief dalliance depicting the hate hoax phenomena.

Nike's decision to use Colin Kaepernick - best known for his decision not to stand for the National Anthem - has set off a wave of controversy.

Stock down 4%, but the campaign is aimed at youth demographic, where it may play well. They need to taste redpill.

The Last Refuge had a good article on the question of “why would Nike do that?”
TLR’s view in a nutshell: Nike uses really, really cheap labor in Nork sweatshops that are effectively controlled by PRC biggies. Trump’s trade reform deals may leave Nike out on a limb. Nike has planted its flag where its sweatshops operate. So Nike doesn’t care what White male Americans think, Nike cares about pleasing its sweatshop business partners.

[Hargitay] ended up a nut just like mom.

LOL her mom could star in a supporting role in The Adventures of Ichabod Crane

NBC Orders ‘Law & Order: Hate Crimes’ Series from Dick Wolf

The shows are not documentaries. They are entertainment, escapism, fiction, a break from reality. So it goes without saying that most of the lawbreakers will be white.

NBC are in the business of selling viewers to ad agencies and the viewers don’t want to watch criminal reality shows ‘ripped’ from anywhere in their leisure time.

Sarah settled in to her favorite secluded spot in the berkeley library intent on another semester of straight As.
“Hey” a mans voice gruffly yelled. It was Haven Monohan, the muscly dumb blonde jock who only got into berkeley because he was really good at hitting a ball with a stick or something.
“I didn’t like how you spoke up in class today”
“well, maybe if you actually did the reading, I wouldn’t have had to humiliate you like that” Sarah shot back before burying her nose back in her gender studies textbook.
“you’re one of those gooks who thinks she’s smarter than everyone, huh?”
before Sarah could react Haven’s thick forearms were reaching around her neck. She couldn’t escape. His large hand covered her mouth so she couldn’t speak.
“I bet you don’t feel so smart now”
