The New York Times gets around to one of my recent topics:

Pelosi, Under Threat in Her Own Party, Says She Is Building Bridge to New Leaders

By Alexander Burns and Jonathan Martin
Aug. 16, 2018

Nancy Pelosi is girding for a mortal challenge to her leadership of the Democratic Party after the November elections or even sooner, and in a signal of reassurance to anxious lawmakers says that she is deliberately building a “bridge” to a new generation of party leaders.

… The most perilous threat to Ms. Pelosi, for the moment, may be the impatient mood in the Congressional Black Caucus, where senior legislators have begun arguing that it is past time to elect an African-American speaker. Black lawmakers and candidates, furious about President Trump’s caustic racial politics and attacks on African-Americans, say they are determined to claim a greater role in steering their party.

The Democrats are their party.

… She is the party’s most formidable fund-raiser, and her aides say she has sturdy support from a majority of House Democrats who credit her with ushering in the policies on health care and business regulation that Republicans have attacked.

… But this weekend her imposing stature as a party leader will be on vivid display: She is gathering her financial network in Napa Valley for a conference with party luminaries like Gov. Jerry Brown of California and John F. Kerry, the former secretary of state. …

Ms. Pelosi’s fiercest supporters view much of the criticism directed at her, from both Republicans and Democrats, as anchored in bias against her gender or age.

… A diverse group of several dozen Democratic candidates, across all regions and ideological factions, have pledged to demand new leadership if they are elected.

Many of the dissenters are younger Democrats, including some prominent candidates of color who are likely to join the freshman class …

If Pelosi is a Becky then she is Becky with the good hair. Her grooming is immaculate. 78 years old btw
Seems many Dems see how spacey she is in comments to the media these days.
They want a rock em sock em rough tough younger guy to take the reins. Someone who will ream out the Republicans in an effective way. Pelosi tries her best but is ineffective.

Out here in red state America, the TV attack ads are all about Nancy Pelosi. It’s as if the Republicans created one generic attack ad with insert GOP candidate name here. I mean, it’s awful.

She’s 78. The Democratic party is being energized with young voters. Can’t we find someone who isn’t 50 to 60 years older than them to lead the caucus?

With her being such a lightning rod, she can probably generate more Republican contributions than anyone except Hillary. It’s time to step aside and let someone younger, much younger take over. She could function best as counselor and advisor to the next generation of leaders.

Hillary Clinton’s defeat should be all Nancy Pelosi needs to understand that the time has passed for old dynastic leadership and corporate-friendly policies. Pelosi indeed has a track record for fundraising, but it should be the source of those dollars that we scrutinize. As for her legislative and electoral track record, House Democrats have lost elections and failed to pass legislation continuously under her tenure.

It’s true that Republicans committed character assassination (and did so with Hillary also), but this is about more than Pelosi’s toxic brand. It’s about having leadership that represents the next generation of voices who will convince voters that Democratic politicians are on the people’s side and not just in it for their own glory.

Why would these people, who are almost all highly intelligent lawyers, imagine that they would be allowed to be sonderkommondos in the new order? In this moment of Democrat peril let us recall Jeb Bush weekending at the hacienda of a Mexican kleptocrat so corrupt that even the Mexican justice system eventually arrested him. These people thought that we would die violently or live to see our every treasure taken, while they would remain in their positions of privilege but learn a little mispronounced Spanish.

Ostensibly, she’s the political leader of the Democratic party in Congress–I should hope she’s a good fundraiser, that goes with the territory, i.e. it’s her job!. If she didn’t have the support of a majority of House members, someone else would be in the minority leader.

Conveniently omitted is the fact that under her leadership, Dems lost the House majority. So NYT, please write more puff pieces extolling her.

Pelosi can fairly be described as a slag badger for the Democrat donor class, in other words very wealthy liberal Jews, more or less.

The prospect of an abandonment of the Democrat donor class by their constituent interest groups, mirroring the abandonment of the Republican donor class by the Republican voting base in the recent presidential election, strikes me as quite unlikely however, as the Democrat donor class is in much firmer control of the media organs driving the daily narrative than their Republican counterpart, so long as they don’t allow the SJWs of the Big Tech media platforms to get too far out in front of them.

    1) Whites still make up a larger share of the vote.

    2) Jews still provide the bulk of the democrats’ funds.

    3) Blacks have already committed to the democrats in such unheard of numbers that there is no incentive to continue to court them. Hispanics are the more lucrative target because of the greater potential for growth. It’s similar to the stock market in which an established, dominant player’s stock doesn’t move as much as the upstart who is still losing money, but appears to have a better growth story.

This is probably true and over some medium time frame might help us. But more than any rebranding thing, the most immediate impact we can create is to vote Republican, and simply beat the Democrats. It's one thing to suffer the ego loss of not being the head car of the parade. It's quite another to suffer the same ego loss for a cause that's not going to win anyway.

  52. A friend of mine is was the chairperson of our county’s Democratic Party. Her husband had built the party up from almost nothing in this very Republican area. This friend was also the regional representative on the state Democratic Central Committee. Several black Democrats thought that they should have a “greater voice” in the party and discussed this with our local congresswoman. She agreed and slowly pushed my friend from her position with the Central Committee in favor of a black person. This gave the county black Democrats the idea to do the same at the county level. Again they went to this congresswoman and got her blessing. My friend, who was a lifelong Democrat and worked hard on their behalf, was suddenly in the position of having to defend herself in the local press (her husband has passed away by this time), and had to fight to keep her seat even after all she had done and after the fact that she did an excellent job. My friend found herself sharing power with a black woman who was clearly incompetent and almost illiterate. It just got worse and worse from there and the congresswoman (who by the way got her job because her family was friends with, and she herself used to babysit for, a senator from our state who is a very powerful democrat in the Senate. This senator told other, more popular Democrats to step aside so this woman could run and win) made sure that my friend was bumped out of her position. My friend’s husband was there when the person who previously held the same seat in Congress as this congresswoman, urged then State Senator Obama to run for Senate. She and her husband had done a lot for the party but she was still tossed aside for the fact that she was not black. I notice that this congresswoman is being quoted more and more in the press about all kinds of issues. She has been touted as a future senator herself or a future presidential candidate. She has won the hearts and mind of the black community in our part of the state so possibly this was all part of a grand strategy to keep this white congresswoman relevant in a black party?

I mean, there is nobody in the D party that is against Affirmative Action is there? What about your friend? I highly doubt it. In this case, what happened to her was classic AA.

She may not have cared about the consequences for some 10's millions of men who had their careers curtailed or derailed due to AA over the last 50 years. That's what happens when you make omelets... gotta break some eggs. Oh, but this one was personal! She should be estatic. Affirmative Action works!. Yea! Huzzah!

Steve's tried this rebranding thing a few times. It could work, but I'm unconvinced. Sharpton and Jackson have been around for thirty years now. I don't think they are any closer to taking over now than they were then. I don't remember all the details, but there was some controversy surrounding the 1988 Democratic convention regarding what Dukakis or other Democrats would have to promise Jesse Jackson to be a team player for the fall election.

White upper-middle class Democrats have got a lot of practice in this game of "Blacks get to ride in the bus but don't get to drive it." I don't imagine they are going to forget everything they've learned now.

“Blacks get to ride in the bus but don’t get to drive it.”

She’s 78. The Democratic party is being energized with young voters. Can’t we find someone who isn’t 50 to 60 years older than them to lead the caucus?

Bruce Rosenblit of Kansas City hopes for someone aged 18 to 28-years old to lead the caucus.

    Dear Mr. Rosenblit:

Perhaps you've seen or heard of a sprightly young media darling, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Dem candidate for the House in NY-14. I hope she's not too old for you at age 28. Sounds like your prayers have been answered.

    Best wishes,
    Blue State Blues

PS: I believe she's 0-6 in candidate endorsements this primary season. I hope that not disconcerting.

Mr. Rozenblit is a published author on the subject of constructing stereo equipment. By Kansas City standards he’s famous. He used to write for Ed Dell’s Audio Amateur magazine. He also _detested_ Herb Mooney, the local McIntosh dealer. I think they went to the same synogogue. Mooney could be very obnoxious, to be sure.

Pelosi keeps her job because she’s a lifeline to the older Democrats who constitute the upper-middle class and upper class whites who happen to donate. If Pelosi is replaced by some blackamoor who says, Just Gimme Stuff Because Blacks Deserve It, those donations will dry up. All those white Democrats want to think they’ll improve society and get Scandinavian-type socialism out of it. That’s the only thing that’ll make them open their wallets. Doing nothing but giving money to black grifters won’t achieve anything, and the white Democrats know it. At lot of those Democrats live in big coastal cities that are badly run by minority politicians who are up to their eyeballs in graft, and those whites Democrats are well aware of this.

Obama received a lot of white money in donations because he was ‘supposed to be different,’ and he came across like a properly-raised black with a lot of upper-middle class markers. He was the black guy who was ‘supposed to be as good as a white.’ But he was just more of the same, just a black guy trying to make himself rich on white money. The socialist utopia didn’t happen under his administration, and he disillusioned a lot of ordinary white Democrats about what was achievable. Some of those people voted for Trump. Some became Independents and voted for Gary Johnson or Jill Stein or other candidates. But I don’t think they’re going to vote black again.

If all Democratic politicians become black, everyone knows that the blacks pols will go hog-wild in using white donations for personal use, so any donations won’t actually be used in turning out the vote, but used to make some black person rich. In their heart of hearts, white Democrats understand this. The whites WILL stop donating unless there’s a white fundraiser promising typical idealistic societal benefits, and not using the money for graft.

Deep down, upper middle-class whites think they’re smarter than everyone else, including blacks, and they don’t trust blacks to run anything. They think whites have to tell blacks what to do, or everything will fall apart. Therefore, they will insist on having white leaders for the Democratic Party, and they’ll take no nonsense from minorities about this.

Secondly, even Democrats have innate tribal thinking, though it’s weak. They may stop donating to an all-minority party because ‘it doesn’t feel right,’ or ‘something is wrong.’ It doesn’t have to be anything they can put their finger on, they just have a funny sensation. White Democrats are great at rationalizing feelings they don’t understand.

Homosexuals have surpassed Jews as a source of funding for the Democrats, looking for link now

I highly doubt that; half of donations to the Democrats come from Jews.

I am certain I saw this somewhere, doubted it, checked it, and now I cannot find it. For it to be true it would have to be specific to a campaign and not across the board.

Pelosi is not under fire for being a Becky, she’s under fire for being objectively bad at her job, and being too conservative for the party. Her job is to lead the House to effective legislation when they’re in the majority, and she hasn’t done that. When in the minority, her job is to block the worst legislation the opposition puts forth, and get them to compromise on areas of common concern. She hasn’t done that either.

What does she actually do, aside from being a rich person who is good at getting other rich persons to give money to her organization of rich persons? This money is then spent on hiring the same rich people who lost the last election to lose the next election.

If all this money is just flushed down the toilet on the same loser consultants and useless TV advertising, why should any Dem care?

    Pelosi:

I have to say, we’re capitalists, that’s just the way it is

She’s rich, of course she thinks this. For almost everyone under the age of 50, capitalism has been a social, economic, spiritual, and environmental catastrophe. Pelosi needs to go. Put Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the leadership after the election, and give the people a real choice, democratic socialism or plutocracy.

She has stated repeatedly and unequivocally that she hates white people and welcomes their demise. Doesn't she lose her "Becky" status for that? Is there no way out for these poor women?

Pelosi is a marrano jew, she’s not Italian whatsoever.

Getting kicked out of Accent Sound, Herb’s shop, was a rite of passage for Kansas City audiophiles, Jewish or otherwise.

Herb’s shenanigans were famous and I’ve heard stories about Herb from audio people all over the country.

Bruce Rozenblit has a couple of books:

If that’s your thing then they are not bad, but not the standard reference works, which would be Morgan Jones’ Valve Amplifiers 4th Edition and its companion, Building Valve Amplifiers. And of course all the old books written in the 1930-1963 era many available free from Pete Millett’s web site at http://www.pmillett.com.

  67. The most perilous threat to Ms. Pelosi, for the moment, may be the impatient mood in the Congressional Black Caucus, where senior legislators have begun arguing that it is past time to elect an African-American speaker.

Or, you know, an African-American House Minority Leader (the position Pelosi actually holds), as the case may be….

A friend of mine is was the chairperson of our county's Democratic Party. Her husband had built the party up from almost nothing in this very Republican area. This friend was also the regional representative on the state Democratic Central Committee. Several black Democrats thought that they should have a "greater voice" in the party and discussed this with our local congresswoman. My friend's husband was there when the person who previously held the same seat in Congress as this congresswoman, urged then State Senator Obama to run for Senate.

I understand she was a friend of yours, Mr. Zwick, but I think this woman deserved everything that happened to her. It’s all good, in fact. I mean, there is nobody in the D party that is against Affirmative Action is there? What about your friend? I highly doubt it. In this case, what happened to her was classic AA.

She may not have cared about the consequences for some 10′s millions of men who had their careers curtailed or derailed due to AA over the last 50 years. That’s what happens when you make omelets… gotta break some eggs. Oh, but this one was personal! She should be estatic. Affirmative Action works!. Yea! Huzzah!

I hope your friend has learned something, but somehow I doubt it.
