Meet Jeb

My life changed forever when I was a young man on an exchange program in León Guanajuato, Mexico. Across a plaza, I saw a girl. She spoke little English, and my Spanish was a work in progress. But for me, it was love at first sight. Some people don’t think that’s a real thing—but I know. I couldn’t sleep; I couldn’t eat; I lost 20 pounds. From the moment I got to know her, I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.

Alternatively, at https://jeb2016.com/meet-jeb/?lang=es

No podía dormir, no podía comer… ¡bajé 20 libras! Desde el momento en que la conocí, supe que quería vivir el resto de mi vida junto a ella.

  1. Jebediah was a Bushman.
    He warred with Hillary.
I never could believe a single word he said,
But she’s even worse than he.

    Woe to the world!
They’ll drone more boys and girls.
They’ll nuke all the fishes in the deep blue sea.
    Woe to you and me!

  11. So he must have been a shy kid who was always afraid to approach girls. And he got sent on that trip to Mexico. And the enormous status gap between him and the local girls must have finally given him confidence. The impossible happened. Until that point most of the young people he dealt with would have had similar social standing. He went to Andover, didn’t he?

I am in general more attracted to Mexican than white girls. This is because I like women who wear a lot of makeup and dress sexy/feminine. Too many of today's white women dress frumpy and don't wear makeup. This is especially true among low socioeconomic white women, they put no effort into appearance and are extremely likely to be obese, from my observations more than Mexican women (who unfortunately also have an obesity epidemic). Anyway, I am more superficial than Jeb and am attracted to hot Mexican girls who play up their sexuality

Jeb's writer's would seem a perfectly valid use of the hyphen in a compound modifier, and not only to me, but to The New Yorker: a Google search of the phrases "college and high school students" and "high school and college students" returns nine unique results from newyorker.com, with only one of them unhyphenated. Probably most people not writing for that magazine would consider it unnecessary, but incorrect, nah.

That's completely contrary to everything we know about linguistics. People don't get language from their parents, but from peer groups and wider culture, which is why children of immigrants generally don't have accents and speak English as well as natives with similar IQs.

Does that apply to white women and black baby daddy situations? Sometimes you see a stable couple, but usually you wind up with a single white mom with children.

So what happens to these kids? It's been a while, but it is hard for me to pick them out (and that isn't humor). Seems like they almost always identify as black to me.

But aside from that I take your point. But it doesn't always work.

An interesting point about that though. Does anyone know of a situation where white men date a single mom with mixed race children? Most men try to avoid dating a single mother, but has anyone ever observed this? I would think it would be very, very rare. So rare I have never observed this, and I've seen plenty of mixed race couples and interracial dating.

I actually think I've seen more white men date black women, than white men dating a white woman with mixed race children.

I’ve met quite a few of the Presidential candidates in professional and personal settings (as an former federal govt employee). Here’s my take:

Hillary: Not friendly. Vacuous (does she have a soul?).
Bill Clinton: Very friendly and charming.
    Graham: A-hole
    Jindal: Nice. Sincere. Quick mind.
Trump: Personally very nice, respectful, and considerate. Walks into any place like he owns it (including a federal building)– and makes everyone feel like he does own it.
    Kasich: Arrogant. Full of himself.
    Santorum: Nice. Respectful.
Sanders: Intense. Always engaged. Very respectful. Brooklyn friendly (i.e., in an abrupt way).
    O’Malley: Political operator. Personable.
Chafee: Very nice and comes across as nerdy.
    Rubio: Friendly.
Cruz: Friendly. Engaged. Politics is his thing.

Do you have something against people without a soul? They can make a contribution.

Soullessness has nothing to do with competence, or lack of it. Knew a scarily capable**, extremely athletic yet still femininely beautiful* little Ms. Borderline Gynoid.

I swear, her journal read like something written by a machine. Everything she knew how to do she did very well, as you'd imagine a competent AI do.

But, for leadership positions, I believe soul is required. Or creative positions, also. Problem solving though..

    Chafee? He's in this?
    Rubio seems friendly but dumb.
Graham--a pitcher or a catcher? That's what enquiring minds want to know.
Jindal--I hate to say it, but I think he's too unattractive to run for national office. I recoil every time the camera closes in on him.
    , @Charles Erwin Wilson

  21. I still don’t get why a East Coast blue blood family would allow their son to marry a dim witted Mexican peasant. It wouldn’t have been hard to line up a decent white girl from a nice upper class family for him. Provided of course, he wasn’t a ogre or simpleton.

It would have been much better for the bloodline.

They had to know his Mexican offspring would be intellectually and behaviorally compromised and which has come about. All three have run ins with the law, his daughter seems to be a total train wreck. The sons are classic dim bulbs.

Oddly enough trolling the gutters of Central America isn’t just a Jeb thing. Barbara Bush(GWB daughter) is hooked up with a Panamanian graffiti artist.

I was surprised to hear all the upper crust Republican women making snide remarks about the candidate's Korean American wife. These ladies were all Planned Parenthood, moderate Rinos. But when it came to Asian women marrying White men, it was a very different story.

I wonder if Jeb's choice of wife will have a similar effect? An underground drawing away as his choice of mate becomes more visible is a possibility.

I said language and culture, not just language. Anyway, I'm just telling you about the Prussian laws that I read about in some articles written by Polish historians decades ago.

However, I think there's more to this. For example, I had some Central European ancestors (German, Austrian) from about the 1880's. The GGrandparents spoke German and/or Czech. But as I was repeatedly told growing up they insisted on English only in the house. Which raises questions as to how they communicated at home. I've often wondered about that. At any rate my grandparents only knew a few words in the mother tongue.

On the other hand, in an era without public schools (and where they lived there was only a one room school house operated by another GGrandmother), there's no question that you're going to learn to speak from your mother, and you are going to be sung to by your mother, etc. I can think of several cases of my own knowledge where kids would have a facility in a foreign language purely because their mothers spoke it to them at home. Rarely as a result of fatherly input.

And, furthermore, as far as culture goes, that's fairly obvious as well (to me, anyway). The main vectors of family history, family customs, family values, are almost always the womenfolk, at least in my experience.

I think you're mistaken. Hispanic women love sap, even when they know it's pretend. Faking devotion and helplessness is their stock-in-trade so they appreciate the effort on a man's part. Most popular musica latina is about smitten men and irresistible women. Tell one Mexicana she's Too Much and I'd guess most of the others will swoon.

  45. Anonymous • Disclaimer says:

There are so many writing errors and awkward phrases in the English version that I almost suspect Jeb might have written it himself. Certainly a professional copywriter would be embarrassed. Even the punctuation is bad and that’s the easiest thing for a professional to fix up.

The Spanish language version shows all the usual signs of being a translation. “Apenas un ‘proyecto en ciernes’” is not a natural Spanish phrase in that context — especially with those unnecessary quotes emphasizing it — but it’s okay if you’re translating the English. The exclams and the verb switch in the first sentence indicate that the translator took more liberties elsewhere for rhythm and euphony but it reads okay and faithful to the English.

Therefore I conclude that Jeb writes in English for himself even though we know he has to speak Spanish at home, since Columba doesn’t speak English.

The main downtown plaza in León, Guanajuato is beautiful and romantic. I enjoyed the girls there — good architecture and urban design around you makes them seem prettier. And there’s no denying that León is a romantic place full of potential, excitement, soft but insistent music, spicy food, and feminine girls. Also, the local economy exceeds the US in incomes for college graduates (relative to cost of living).

  53. No, this is a sure sign of beta oneitis, the man without options, the man who siezes on the narrative that is fed to males.

Worse even than being this man, is publicly broadcasting it, with little awareness of its meaning. To see this particular woman, in the 70s no less, a time of unprecedented favorable male to female ratio, particularly well bred and born males, as some love at first sight epiphany, is a definite sign of the low sexual status beta.

Here is a pic of the happy couple at the wedding. Notice the body language of both. He has his arm around her like she might run away. She has slightly averse body language toward him, but he is a Bush and ticket to places she will not get without him.

I know there's a lot of laughing at Bush in the manosphere over Columba, but I think it's misplaced. Bush met Columba at age 17, and my bet is she rocked his world. He was probably a virgin or close to it, and here was this lithe, feminine little Mexican girl who took him places the yankee girls at Andover neither would have nor could have had they been so inclined.

Trust me -- I know people who attended and taught at Andover.

Keep in mind that manly-man Ernest Hemingway waxed nostalgic in his later years over an Indian girl he knew from his youth in Idaho (Nez Perce perhaps -- their women can be pretty fine) who instructed him in the ways of love. He seemed to carry a chip on his shoulder regarding his Anglo wives, who for whatever reason didn't measure up. Maybe old Ernest would have been happier with his Indian lover, spending his life as a woodsman fishing the Snake for steelhead.

Maybe Jeb is happier with Columba. No reason to begrudge him that, but on the other hand it's a perfectly good reason to scrutinize his "presidential timber." Those who aspire to lead must make sacrifices, and that includes personal sacrifices, such as youthful love. It was taken for granted in the old days that a nobleman had to marry a noble wife, and there are sound reasons for that. If I have to go through a credit check that dredges up my marital status and history to rent an apartment, why shouldn't Jeb have to clear an even higher hurdle to be the president of the USA?

  55. There is something almost pathological about this Jeb Bush message While it might be an appropriate tribute to a wife on a 25th wedding anniversary, what on earth does it have to do with the governance of the United States? Jeb is easily the most dangerous candidate in the field, since he evidently has more invested in his adopted Hispanic identity than in his putative nation. I seriously believe that he might advocate a de facto political union between the U.S. and Mexico, to the very great detriment of the former.

As for Jebbie, I don't think he's all there. A smart young man from a powerful family isn't going to marry a dumb Mexican woman. I've met quite a few of the Presidential candidates in professional and personal settings (as an former federal govt employee). Here's my take:

Hillary: Not friendly. Vacuous (does she have a soul?).
Bill Clinton: Very friendly and charming.
    Graham: A-hole
    Jindal: Nice. Sincere. Quick mind.
Trump: Personally very nice, respectful, and considerate. Walks into any place like he owns it (including a federal building)-- and makes everyone feel like he does own it.
    Kasich: Arrogant. Full of himself.
    Santorum: Nice. Respectful.
Sanders: Intense. Always engaged. Very respectful. Brooklyn friendly (i.e., in an abrupt way).
    O'Malley: Political operator. Personable.
Chafee: Very nice and comes across as nerdy.
    Rubio: Friendly.
Cruz: Friendly. Engaged. Politics is his thing.

That's completely contrary to everything we know about linguistics. People don't get language from their parents, but from peer groups and wider culture, which is why children of immigrants generally don't have accents and speak English as well as natives with similar IQs.

I said language and culture, not just language. Anyway, I’m just telling you about the Prussian laws that I read about in some articles written by Polish historians decades ago.

However, I think there’s more to this. For example, I had some Central European ancestors (German, Austrian) from about the 1880′s. The GGrandparents spoke German and/or Czech. But as I was repeatedly told growing up they insisted on English only in the house. Which raises questions as to how they communicated at home. I’ve often wondered about that. At any rate my grandparents only knew a few words in the mother tongue.

On the other hand, in an era without public schools (and where they lived there was only a one room school house operated by another GGrandmother), there’s no question that you’re going to learn to speak from your mother, and you are going to be sung to by your mother, etc. I can think of several cases of my own knowledge where kids would have a facility in a foreign language purely because their mothers spoke it to them at home. Rarely as a result of fatherly input.

And, furthermore, as far as culture goes, that’s fairly obvious as well (to me, anyway). The main vectors of family history, family customs, family values, are almost always the womenfolk, at least in my experience.

    • Replies: @Hepp
The Prussians may have believed this, but it's wrong. Judith Rich Harris book is a good start. Even without public schools, a child needs to adapt to the language and culture of the larger society. Your mom is going to love you regardless, you need to be able to talk to people and find mates among your peers.

Most children of immigrants in the United States have very limited ability in the native tongue of their parents, even though a lot of people like to exaggerate their foreign language skills. The exceptions are in communities where a large percentage of peers also speak the parents language, like among some Hispanics.
    , @Anonymous
It's unusual for men to prefer foreign men taking their women. Men tend to tolerate sowing their oats with foreign women more than foreign men having their women. That's why American blacks' white ancestry tends to be paternal, rather than maternal.
    , @Hepp

Family customs and values that survived for a really long time can be destroyed in one generation if the larger culture is hostile to them. See America and Europe over the last 50 years.

Same with my Norwegian great grandparents. Apparently, they stopped speaking Norwegian to my grandmother around the time she started school. So for most of her life she only spoke English, reverting to Norwegian only very late in life when stroke-induced dementia took her back to her early childhood. I was pretty surprised when she started referring to herself as "Solveig" instead of Sylvia (her American name) -- I never knew that was her birth name. I didn't know it was a name at all, but now I like it for its meaning, if not the way it looks in print (it's pronounced sool-vie).

At this point, given the depraved nature of US society, I'm very sympathetic to people who don't want to assimilate. In fact, I'd like to de-assimilate myself if it means I can avoid association with this transgender, baby charnel house culture. I can't in good conscience support those who want to force assimilation to contemporary American norms on foreigners -- that would be to the detriment of humanity, sad to say. Doesn't mean we need more foreigners here, but corrupting people is not the answer to our problems.

I am in general more attracted to Mexican than white girls. This is because I like women who wear a lot of makeup and dress sexy/feminine. Too many of today’s white women dress frumpy and don’t wear makeup.

I am in general more attracted to Mexican than white girls. This is because I like women who wear a lot of makeup and dress sexy/feminine. Too many of today’s white women dress frumpy and don’t wear makeup

You're mixing two different issues, feminine behavior and the augmentation of beauty. It may be my Nordic prejudices speaking, but if a girl is naturally pretty, all the makeup she needs is the wind, sun and rain.

The young women of Scandinavia were as feminine as any Mexicana thirty years ago, but none of them shaved their legs. And in summer they wore skirts. I can hear the lot of you retching now, but they had a way of making you not care.

Mexican women are notably deficient in all three categories....

I still don't get why a East Coast blue blood family would allow their son to marry a dim witted Mexican peasant. It wouldn't have been hard to line up a decent white girl from a nice upper class family for him. Provided of course, he wasn't a ogre or simpleton.

It would have been much better for the bloodline.

They had to know his Mexican offspring would be intellectually and behaviorally compromised and which has come about. All three have run ins with the law, his daughter seems to be a total train wreck. The sons are classic dim bulbs.

Oddly enough trolling the gutters of Central America isn't just a Jeb thing. Barbara Bush(GWB daughter) is hooked up with a Panamanian graffiti artist.

  63. Kind of surprised at the reactions to SPMoore’s post.

I thought it was a given that most often women transferred the culture. As in not even a debating point.

Didn’t Rabbis in Italy make rules such that being Jewish passed through the mother’s line? I know that there was considerably intermarriage, and that modern Ashkenazim Jews are 50% or so European.

But I assumed when reading of these events, that the Rabbis changed things precisely because children take on the culture of the mother more so than the father. So I’d guess the Rabbis were confronted with a situation where the children of Jewish fathers and gentile mothers just were not what they would call Jewish.

Did I misunderstand the purpose of this?

You may recall that in "Torah-times" tribal identity was basically patrilineal (the Twelve Tribes are derived from male progenitors only), although there are instances where the heirs of Abraham are punished for allowing heathen ideologies into their culture, typically because of the influence of foreign women.

You may also be aware that the Diaspora shows some genetic commonality through paternal descent and very little through maternal descent.

I'll leave it at that for now.

The Prussians may have believed this, but it’s wrong.

" Language and culture are usually matrilineal. That’s why, when Prussia got parts of Poland in the partitions, they didn’t forbid German women marrying Polish men, but they did forbid German men from marrying Polish women. Bottom line, they wanted German speaking citizens."

Well I think that white females who date black guys are generally more attracted to black guys than white guys. They aren’t equal opportunity lovers. A few might be truly “colorblind” but most white girls who date blacks men have a fixation on black men.

Actually, though I don't think much of Columba as a woman, I do respect Jeb's love for her. He's been a good husband and good father. He's been loyal as a man should be. Sure, Trump is more glamorous and amorous with women, and he got hot babes, but he hasn't been a family values guy.

BUT, what is this stuff about 'I couldn't sleep' and 'I lost 20 lbs'?

One would think it couldn't have been all that difficult for a rich tall gringo to win the heart of a short Mexican nobodez.

    I just don't get it.

The situation with Prussia, and, for that matter, in many other parts of America since colonization is a little different than the African American experience.

For example, early settlers, both English (in the South) and French (in the North) frequently took native wives, since there were no white women around. In Spanish speaking areas, native wives were common, since most of the original Spanish were men.

The situation in Prussia involved ethnic groups who had been mixing for 500 years before the partititions, you frankly cannot tell a Western Slav from a German (and vice versa) to this day. However, the Prussians moved on the theory that the children of a German-speaking woman married to a Polish speaking man living in a German governed territory was more acceptable than the reverse. I guess they thought the Polish speaking mother would turn the kids into Polish speaking crypto Catholic Polish nationalists, or something.

The relevance of this to the Bush story is that is exactly what happened to the Bush family. They went Spanish. That's not a bad thing, but I would argue that it could have been predicted.

On the other hand, if, after they married, they moved to Kennebunkport for the rest of their lives it might have turned out different.

WRT African Americans, black men were generally lynched if they had sex with a white woman. On the other hand, because of their inferior status, black women were frequently raped by white men. So that's as far as that goes.

Jeb Bush is a very smart man and he’s getting advice from at least two former U.S. Presidents, this I love my wife stuff must test well with his polling people.

Exactly what does this have to do with anything? The discussion began with an observation that Jeb Bush married a Mexican woman who doesn't speak English, and how, as a result, the entire family has gone over to the Spanish side. My observation was simply to note that this phenomenon is well known, since language and culture usually descend down the mother's line. I have seen it personally, in my own family, and in the families of many people I know.

I've met quite a few of the Presidential candidates in professional and personal settings (as an former federal govt employee). Here's my take:

Hillary: Not friendly. Vacuous (does she have a soul?).
Bill Clinton: Very friendly and charming.
    Graham: A-hole
    Jindal: Nice. Sincere. Quick mind.
Trump: Personally very nice, respectful, and considerate. Walks into any place like he owns it (including a federal building)-- and makes everyone feel like he does own it.
    Kasich: Arrogant. Full of himself.
    Santorum: Nice. Respectful.
Sanders: Intense. Always engaged. Very respectful. Brooklyn friendly (i.e., in an abrupt way).
    O'Malley: Political operator. Personable.
Chafee: Very nice and comes across as nerdy.
    Rubio: Friendly.
Cruz: Friendly. Engaged. Politics is his thing.

Hillary: Not friendly. Vacuous (does she have a soul?).

Everything she knew how to do she did very well, as you’d imagine a competent AI do.

But, for leadership positions, I believe soul is required. Or creative positions, also. Problem solving though..

That's not to point. Nobody here gives a rat's ass what she looks like. His flogging his relationship with her before the public is asking for us to judge for ourselves what is going on in his psyche. He's never bothered to get her to speak English; he ties his love of her irrationally in with his positions on not only immigration, but national character, ties to Mexico, and more. He is all but demanding that we blend her in to these conversations when it is unseemly to do so.
Jim Webb has a foreign wife, with a relationship that ties to his experience in Vietnam, but he doesn't parade her around as some kind of shibboleth. Jeb!'s behavior is the mark of not only a conflicted man, but an immature man.

There is a reason that the Constitution requires that the President be native born. The rationale behind it is deep and based on the observations of history. It is a piece in my mind with the underappreciated decision made by the founders to make the nation's Capital a district, rather than a part of a state, or its own power center vested with voting members in Congress- the fruit of long observation about what has been shown to be toxic to republics. In the birth requirement to stand for president, it is in the interest of avoiding divided loyalties that has been the source of strife in monarchies. In the isolated capital, it was from observing the self-interested intrigues and concentration of power found in the Parises and Romes of history.

Jeb! is of course native born, but his statements, his childish use of his wife, and more bring out an unease that is reasonable and is based on the kinds of insights into the nature of power and loyalty that those dinosaurs in the 18th century had that a lot of people have forgotten.

millions of Floridians today are reading, doing math, getting the benefit of high-school and college degrees and rising up in life because of what we did

Jeb's writer needs to go back to "high-school" and learn what hyphen is and what it is used for.

    we achieved a AAA-bond rating
We had a rainy-day fund to rebuild

Jeb’s writer’s would seem a perfectly valid use of the hyphen in a compound modifier, and not only to me, but to The New Yorker: a Google search of the phrases “college and high school students” and “high school and college students” returns nine unique results from newyorker.com, with only one of them unhyphenated. Probably most people not writing for that magazine would consider it unnecessary, but incorrect, nah.

There are so many writing errors and awkward phrases in the English version that I almost suspect Jeb might have written it himself. Certainly a professional copywriter would be embarrassed. Even the punctuation is bad and that's the easiest thing for a professional to fix up.

The Spanish language version shows all the usual signs of being a translation. “Apenas un 'proyecto en ciernes'” is not a natural Spanish phrase in that context -- especially with those unnecessary quotes emphasizing it -- but it's okay if you're translating the English. The exclams and the verb switch in the first sentence indicate that the translator took more liberties elsewhere for rhythm and euphony but it reads okay and faithful to the English.

Therefore I conclude that Jeb writes in English for himself even though we know he has to speak Spanish at home, since Columba doesn't speak English.

The main downtown plaza in León, Guanajuato is beautiful and romantic. I enjoyed the girls there -- good architecture and urban design around you makes them seem prettier. And there's no denying that León is a romantic place full of potential, excitement, soft but insistent music, spicy food, and feminine girls. Also, the local economy exceeds the US in incomes for college graduates (relative to cost of living).

Once again the key question with Hispanics is "Quien es mas macho?"

And it sure is not ¡Jeb!

Right now I think Trump will get 80% of the Hispanic vote against the rest of the field in the Republican primaries. And 40%+ in the general against the Sea Hag.

    * panocha is the Mexican slang for pussy and apparently a yummy pudding .

I think you’re mistaken. Hispanic women love sap, even when they know it’s pretend. Faking devotion and helplessness is their stock-in-trade so they appreciate the effort on a man’s part. Most popular musica latina is about smitten men and irresistible women. Tell one Mexicana she’s Too Much and I’d guess most of the others will swoon.

The Bush family are all globalists. GWB tried to get amnesty passed in his last year in office. Daddy Bush gave us NAFTA. And in the North American Union lurks in the background,

As for Jebbie, I don’t think he’s all there. A smart young man from a powerful family isn’t going to marry a dumb Mexican woman. He’s going to have either a trophy wife or one that’s a smart professional that ads to his image. This is so out of character it makes me wonder about the guy. There’s something about him that gives me the creeps even worse than Obama or Hillary.

Pronounced "Yeb"! Meet Yeb, the ultimate cuckservative.

If there are any Trump campaign operatives reading this blog…

You need to get Trump to start referring to him as “Yeb”. That would be great.

I guess from his intro, we learn that the man who wants to be leader of the free world can easily be overcome by emotion, has little self-control, and, when faced with a loss, just tries to understand its “meaning” rather than immediately working to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

I think it would be pretty funny too ... but it's not necessarily Trump's play if he wants to win. I'd say the best scenario for Trump is probably ended up mano-a-mano vs. Yeb.

To me the nominee will be the guy who ends up going one-on-one against Yeb. Then in that final two man race, the voters rather than the money get to decide.

If i'm Trump i don't want to go against some newer face--say Scott Walker or Ted Cruz--who could more plausibly pick up some of Trump's line, and will have massive establishment backing. Rather i want the establishment behind Jeb with all his flaws, and then beat him one on one with Republican voters, while the establishment screams. This also gives him a nice winning macho vibe going into the contest with Hillary.

It's the other candidates that are under pressure to take out Jeb. They need to be the "respectable" alternative to Trump. They need to convince the more establishment voters that they are credible, and the establishment money guys that Jeb is a wounded duck, with too many negatives--including all his ankle grabbing in front of Mexicans--while they connect with voters, but will stay on the reservation. (Not do anything important to piss off the donor class.)

Apparently my earlier comment was too opaque.

Assuming that this love-struck story represents a strategy, his intent is to pursue the women's vote with all the pandering ladymemes he can muster.

Jeb goes on (reading down his web site homepage):

"In the years ahead, whether I was changing baby diapers in Caracas, Venezuela, building a business in Miami or leading a state in Tallahassee, Columba has been with me, my best friend in all of life’s challenges and joys.

She has brought an order and a purpose to my life that no 17-year-old could have imagined."

This is pretty standard Christian cuckservative rhetoric.

“In the years ahead, whether I was changing baby diapers in Caracas, Venezuela, building a business in Miami or leading a state in Tallahassee, Columba has been with me, my best friend in all of life’s challenges and joys.”

For the foreign readers of this blog, please note that when Jeb says “building a business” what he really means is “peddling influence”.

I've met quite a few of the Presidential candidates in professional and personal settings (as an former federal govt employee). Here's my take:

Hillary: Not friendly. Vacuous (does she have a soul?).
Bill Clinton: Very friendly and charming.
    Graham: A-hole
    Jindal: Nice. Sincere. Quick mind.
Trump: Personally very nice, respectful, and considerate. Walks into any place like he owns it (including a federal building)-- and makes everyone feel like he does own it.
    Kasich: Arrogant. Full of himself.
    Santorum: Nice. Respectful.
Sanders: Intense. Always engaged. Very respectful. Brooklyn friendly (i.e., in an abrupt way).
    O'Malley: Political operator. Personable.
Chafee: Very nice and comes across as nerdy.
    Rubio: Friendly.
Cruz: Friendly. Engaged. Politics is his thing.

    Chafee? He’s in this?
    Rubio seems friendly but dumb.
Graham–a pitcher or a catcher? That’s what enquiring minds want to know.
Jindal–I hate to say it, but I think he’s too unattractive to run for national office. I recoil every time the camera closes in on him.

However, I think there’s more to this. For example, I had some Central European ancestors (German, Austrian) from about the 1880′s. The GGrandparents spoke German and/or Czech. At any rate my grandparents only knew a few words in the mother tongue.

Same with my Norwegian great grandparents. Apparently, they stopped speaking Norwegian to my grandmother around the time she started school. So for most of her life she only spoke English, reverting to Norwegian only very late in life when stroke-induced dementia took her back to her early childhood. I was pretty surprised when she started referring to herself as “Solveig” instead of Sylvia (her American name) — I never knew that was her birth name. I didn’t know it was a name at all, but now I like it for its meaning, if not the way it looks in print (it’s pronounced sool-vie).

At this point, given the depraved nature of US society, I’m very sympathetic to people who don’t want to assimilate. In fact, I’d like to de-assimilate myself if it means I can avoid association with this transgender, baby charnel house culture. I can’t in good conscience support those who want to force assimilation to contemporary American norms on foreigners — that would be to the detriment of humanity, sad to say. Doesn’t mean we need more foreigners here, but corrupting people is not the answer to our problems.

I get Great Gatsby. A nobody of a guy who wants to be somebody to win a fancy girl of high society. I can see why he lost so much sleep and expended such effort to win her anyway he could.

Can you imagine a rich tall Wasp woman going to Mexico, meeting some nobody like Guillermo in a some town and losing sleep and 20 lbs in love for him?

I know there’s a lot of laughing at Bush in the manosphere over Columba, but I think it’s misplaced. Bush met Columba at age 17, and my bet is she rocked his world. He was probably a virgin or close to it, and here was this lithe, feminine little Mexican girl who took him places the yankee girls at Andover neither would have nor could have had they been so inclined.

Trust me — I know people who attended and taught at Andover.

Keep in mind that manly-man Ernest Hemingway waxed nostalgic in his later years over an Indian girl he knew from his youth in Idaho (Nez Perce perhaps — their women can be pretty fine) who instructed him in the ways of love. He seemed to carry a chip on his shoulder regarding his Anglo wives, who for whatever reason didn’t measure up. Maybe old Ernest would have been happier with his Indian lover, spending his life as a woodsman fishing the Snake for steelhead.

Maybe Jeb is happier with Columba. No reason to begrudge him that, but on the other hand it’s a perfectly good reason to scrutinize his “presidential timber.” Those who aspire to lead must make sacrifices, and that includes personal sacrifices, such as youthful love. It was taken for granted in the old days that a nobleman had to marry a noble wife, and there are sound reasons for that. If I have to go through a credit check that dredges up my marital status and history to rent an apartment, why shouldn’t Jeb have to clear an even higher hurdle to be the president of the USA?

Wouldn't it have been Michigan? That's the state where the Hemingway family went for their Summers

At any rate, Hemingway's fondness for things Hispanic was a sign of degeneracy.Edward Wagenknecht, who went to High School with him, remarks somewhere that Hemingway's immersion in the cult of the bullfight was a shocking thing in an Anglo-Saxon, a true mark of moral decay

Phonetically it would be "heb", which makes me think of that grocery chain in South Texas. But "yeb" is accurate in its own way. Native Spanish speakers are aware that the J is not pronounced like H in English. But the thing is - there really is no equivalent "J" sound in Spanish. The closest they have is the hard Y, so when they try to speak English, the J sound comes across sounding like a Y. So I can easily see Columba calling her husband "Yeb".

It's mostly Trump and the nine robots, although Rand Paul and Chris Christie had a good exchange over the 4th amendment and warrantless searches.

Trump started hot but seems to have trouble with some of the tougher questions. His tactic seems to be to bully his way out. This works sometimes, but simple and straight answers need to be mixed in.

Either way, Trump's comments will be the most remembered. He refused to pledge to agree to the eventual Republican nominee or foreswear a run as an independent. He insulted Rosie O'Donnell, Megan Kelly, the press, and Rand Paul. He said he'd build a wall on the southern border. He said Iraq was a mistake. Etc.

The New York Times slams Hollywood for its “epidemic” of “inequality” and “lack of diversity”. For example, the absence of transgender characters.

Of course, the article completely fails to grasp the irony of criticizing Hollywood for its ethnic constitution.

A lot of cynicism in this thread. Isn't lifelong devoted monogamous love supposed to be a good thing, especially to conservatives? And women from humble backgrounds and from countries which, unlike ours, are not deeply compromised by bulldyke feminism, can make fine wives. I do agree that Jeb could have done better in the looks department, especially in a Latin American country where, again unlike ours, most of the women do not look like halfbacks, walking sticks or walruses. But to each his own.

That’s not to point. Nobody here gives a rat’s ass what she looks like. His flogging his relationship with her before the public is asking for us to judge for ourselves what is going on in his psyche. He’s never bothered to get her to speak English; he ties his love of her irrationally in with his positions on not only immigration, but national character, ties to Mexico, and more. He is all but demanding that we blend her in to these conversations when it is unseemly to do so.
Jim Webb has a foreign wife, with a relationship that ties to his experience in Vietnam, but he doesn’t parade her around as some kind of shibboleth. Jeb!’s behavior is the mark of not only a conflicted man, but an immature man.

There is a reason that the Constitution requires that the President be native born. The rationale behind it is deep and based on the observations of history. It is a piece in my mind with the underappreciated decision made by the founders to make the nation’s Capital a district, rather than a part of a state, or its own power center vested with voting members in Congress- the fruit of long observation about what has been shown to be toxic to republics.

And, furthermore, as far as culture goes, that’s fairly obvious as well (to me, anyway). The main vectors of family history, family customs, family values, are almost always the womenfolk, at least in my experience.

Family customs and values that survived for a really long time can be destroyed in one generation if the larger culture is hostile to them. See America and Europe over the last 50 years.

Family customs and values that survived for a really long time can be destroyed in one generation if the larger culture is hostile to them.

Exactly what does this have to do with anything? The discussion began with an observation that Jeb Bush married a Mexican woman who doesn’t speak English, and how, as a result, the entire family has gone over to the Spanish side. My observation was simply to note that this phenomenon is well known, since language and culture usually descend down the mother’s line. I have seen it personally, in my own family, and in the families of many people I know.

You’re mixing two different issues, feminine behavior and the augmentation of beauty.

It's unusual for men to prefer foreign men taking their women. Men tend to tolerate sowing their oats with foreign women more than foreign men having their women. That's why American blacks' white ancestry tends to be paternal, rather than maternal.

That’s not a bad thing, but I would argue that it could have been predicted.

On the other hand, if, after they married, they moved to Kennebunkport for the rest of their lives it might have turned out different.

WRT African Americans, black men were generally lynched if they had sex with a white woman. On the other hand, because of their inferior status, black women were frequently raped by white men. So that’s as far as that goes.

Thanks for that cartoon version of American history.

A few facts. Blacks were almost NEVER "lynched if they had sex with a white woman". A small percentage, maybe 11%, of lynchings were of black males accused of rape of a White woman. Not merely sex.

And the vast majority of black females raped during and after slavery were raped by black males. It's not likely that the institution of slavery eliminated the black male capacity for rape.

We have no way of knowing what percentage of black female pregnancies by White men during slavery were consensual or not. To assume automatically that they were "rapes" is not realistic.

My thinking about Jeb’s attraction to her is that he wants a wife who will be eternally grateful to him for lifting her out of poverty and familial chaos. He wants to hear, “Oh, Jeeeb, you are so wonderful,” a thousand times a day. He wants her, literally, to look up to him. Notice the difference in their heights. Personally, I’d feel creeped out by marrying a midget, or at least marrying someone who’s that much shorter than myself.

Jeb enjoys playing the ‘rescuer’ and ‘knight in shining armor’ role. The girls in Jeb’s own upper-class social circle aren’t women who are going to be particularly grateful to him for picking them. They’d expect him to make something of himself. They’d constantly remind him of the other boyfriends who are so much more successful–who they turned down–so he’d better measure up. They’d nag him. In other words, they’d act like his mother, and Jeb doesn’t want to marry a Barbara Bush type. However, since he has probably always known he’s going to be nagged straight into chasing power by his family anyway, I view Columba as his emotional safety valve. The only thing she’s going to talk about to him when he comes home for the day is shopping, not how his cabinet meeting went.

is this guy Serbian or Bavarian? No, he’s Mejicano-American. So the pronunciation is “¡Heb!”

I agree. Furthermore, I don't know the rules of Spanish pronunciation, but usually a final voiced consonant is de-voiced. So it would be: “¡Hep!”

Phonetically it would be “heb”, which makes me think of that grocery chain in South Texas. But “yeb” is accurate in its own way. Native Spanish speakers are aware that the J is not pronounced like H in English. But the thing is – there really is no equivalent “J” sound in Spanish. The closest they have is the hard Y, so when they try to speak English, the J sound comes across sounding like a Y. So I can easily see Columba calling her husband “Yeb”.

Keep in mind that manly-man Ernest Hemingway waxed nostalgic in his later years over an Indian girl he knew from his youth in Idaho (Nez Perce perhaps — their women can be pretty fine)

Wouldn’t it have been Michigan? That’s the state where the Hemingway family went for their Summers

At any rate, Hemingway’s fondness for things Hispanic was a sign of degeneracy.Edward Wagenknecht, who went to High School with him, remarks somewhere that Hemingway’s immersion in the cult of the bullfight was a shocking thing in an Anglo-Saxon, a true mark of moral decay

Come on now, Syon, don't use that "Dear fellow" thing on me. I actually enjoy your comments and repartée, and "dear fellow" just sounds like you're calling me gay.

As for Yankee girls being repulsed by betatude, they wouldn't know it if they saw it for the most part, because they are as romantically "beta" as their men.

You're right about Michigan. Hemingway's first sexual liaison was evidently with an Ojibwa girl named Prudence (heh) Boulton in Michigan's north woods. For some reason I thought it was Idaho -- I read about it when I was a boy and must have conflated the two from other Hemingway works. He writes a lot about the NW.

As for love of Spanish stuff being degenerate, of course Anglo-Saxons would say so, but that doesn't mean it's what they think. Victorian English gentlemen could only dream of having a Spanish lover -- even a Gypsy. A big part of Richard Francis Burton's appeal was his experience with exotic women.

That isn't to say Columba quite fits the bill, but hey, Andover... I mean, seriously. Those girls are bo-ring. The Chinese have a term for it: dead fish.

I've met quite a few of the Presidential candidates in professional and personal settings (as an former federal govt employee). Here's my take:

Hillary: Not friendly. Vacuous (does she have a soul?).
Bill Clinton: Very friendly and charming.
    Graham: A-hole
    Jindal: Nice. Sincere. Quick mind.
Trump: Personally very nice, respectful, and considerate. Walks into any place like he owns it (including a federal building)-- and makes everyone feel like he does own it.
    Kasich: Arrogant. Full of himself.
    Santorum: Nice. Respectful.
Sanders: Intense. Always engaged. Very respectful. Brooklyn friendly (i.e., in an abrupt way).
    O'Malley: Political operator. Personable.
Chafee: Very nice and comes across as nerdy.
    Rubio: Friendly.
Cruz: Friendly. Engaged. Politics is his thing.

    > Hillary: Not friendly. Vacuous (does she have a soul?).

No she does not. Pactum Pactorum ensures that outcome.

141. In other words, they’d act like his mother

Boy, hard to imagine anyone not getting excited about that deal.

None of this would matter if Columba had assimilated and loved her adopted country (like Rafael Cruz did) but she didn't want to, and Jeb wasn't patriotic enough or man enough to care.

  143. From Frum’s excellent profile on Bush

“I’m bicultural—maybe that’s more important than bilingual. For those who have those kinds of marriages, appreciating the culture of your spouse is the most powerful part of the relationship. Being able to share that culture and live in it has been one of the great joys of my life. We chose Miami to live because it is a bicultural city. It’s as American as any, but it has a flair to it that is related to this bicultural feeling. I wanted my children to grow up in a bicultural way.”

While modestly disavowing bilingualism, Jeb Bush does speak Spanish readily. (His wife, reportedly, has not become equally comfortable in English.) His three children speak both English and Spanish.

As Jeb Bush himself notes, there is a Bush family tradition of moving away from the culture into which one is born, to plunge into another. George H.W. Bush, born to a family of Northeastern grandees, reinvented himself as Sunbelt conservative. George W. Bush, born in New Haven, Connecticut, was the only member of the next generation of Bush brothers not born in Texas, and yet became the most Texan of them all. Jeb Bush moved away first from Texas, and then from his family’s patrician identity as White Anglo-Saxon Protestants.

“I’ve actually converted to Catholicism … I’m whatever a W-A-S-C would be. I’m a proud Catholic and a converted one, principally because this was the faith of my wife, and I wanted our children to grow up in a non-mixed marriage. So … no longer a WASP.”

His family story and his relocation to Miami, a gateway to Latin America, have focused Jeb Bush’s attention on the topic of immigration. Listen to hours of his comments on public policy, and it quickly becomes overwhelmingly apparent that this is the public policy issue he cares about by far the most. Jeb Bush will often list three-point and four-point plans to get America moving again. But when he does so, it is the immigration point that seems almost always to energize him most.

Jeb Bush’s enthusiasm for immigration, even when the immigrants are unskilled, even if they break the law, goes so deep that he even sometimes ventures to suggest that the personal characteristics of immigrants are to be preferred over those of the native-born. Here for example is an informal Jeb Bush speaking to a friendly interviewer, National Review’s Jay Nordlinger, early in 2014. “If we’re going to grow at 4% a year, we have to have young, aspiring people be able to create dynamic activity. And we can’t do that with our existing demographics.”

Bush seems to have something more in mind than just the the familiar (if overstated) claim that immigration can counter the aging of the population. He seems to think that there is some quality in the immigrants themselves that is more enterprising—more dynamic to use his favorite term—than native-born Americans. This is not only a positive judgment on the immigrants themselves. It is also a negative judgment on native-born Americans.

Both Jeb Bush and Barack Obama are men who have openly and publicly struggled with their ambivalence about their family inheritance. Both responded by leaving the place of their youth to create new identities for themselves: Barack Obama, as an organizer in the poor African-American neighborhoods of Chicago; Jeb Bush in Mexico, Venezuela, and at last in Cuban-influenced Miami. Both are men who have talked a great deal about the feeling of being “between two worlds”: Obama, in his famous autobiography; Bush, in his speeches. Both chose wives who would more deeply connect them to their new chosen identity. Both derived from their new identity a sharp critique of their nation as it is. Both have built their campaign for president upon a deep commitment to fundamental transformation of their nation into what they believe it should be.

    RE: Frum’s article on Bush,

This strikes me as a key quote:

“I’ve actually converted to Catholicism … I’m whatever a W-A-S-C would be. I’m a proud Catholic and a converted one, principally because this was the faith of my wife, and I wanted our children to grow up in a non-mixed marriage. So … no longer a WASP.”

I think that Frum, as a Jew, is aware of what this signifies.Mixed-marriages are cultural wars. One culture will emerge victorious in the end.In Frum’s case, it was Judaism, as his wife converted:

“Ever since I converted to Judaism some 15 years ago, people always ask whether I miss celebrating Christmas. Indeed it’s usually the first question they ask when they discover I’m a convert. I try to repress the enthusiasm in my reply: “No–actually it’s a huge relief.”

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/danielle-crittenden/im-a-christmas-shnorerrhy_b_36780.html

Looking at Bush, he senses the inner weakness. What kind of man capitulates to his wife’s culture, renounces his household gods in favor of hers?Such a man can best be described in one word: traitor.

But in "Meet Jeb" he says he met her in 1974 and 20 years later "joined [his] wife" by becoming Catholic in 1994 ... after losing a Florida election, then "praying" and "soul-searching".

So when were his kids born? After 20 years of marriage? The boy is rather carelessly reconstructing his history.

Thanks for that cartoon version of American history.

A few facts. Blacks were almost NEVER “lynched if they had sex with a white woman”. A small percentage, maybe 11%, of lynchings were of black males accused of rape of a White woman. Not merely sex.

And the vast majority of black females raped during and after slavery were raped by black males. It’s not likely that the institution of slavery eliminated the black male capacity for rape.

We have no way of knowing what percentage of black female pregnancies by White men during slavery were consensual or not. To assume automatically that they were “rapes” is not realistic.

I think you are confused about what I wrote.

In the first place, a black male who had sex with a white woman was indeed very likely to be lynched. This has nothing to do with the well known fact that most lynchings were not for sex. I would expect a reader to be able to make that distinction. On the other hand, I'd be happy to hear of the many cases in which black men and white women had sexual relations and for which there were no repercussions.

As for the argument that most black women were raped by black men is completely irrelevant to the discussion, because the issue under discussion is cross group sexual contact.

As for the argument that black women would willingly have sex with white men, well, I'd like to believe that is so but it is tiresome to point out that given the power relations involved (slave) (master) that in the first place for a black woman to refuse intercourse with a white man was asking for trouble, and in the second place there was no reasonable way for her to say no. That it would be called "rape" or "sexual assault" today is a no brainer, that it would not be considered rape back then, is also very likely, but at any rate we also know that with very rare exceptions it was not possible for black-white couples to establish normal sexual relations in a marriage, how else would you choose to characterize these relations? "Consensual sex"? Please.

It is no doubt unpleasant for many white people, including people like myself who are descended from slave owners, to acknowledge that not only do we probably have numerous black relations but also that the 15% of whiteness that most black Americans have was mostly put there by sexual exploitation. It's something we have to work out with our black fellow citizens. It does no honor to pretend it didn't happen.

Now seriously, if you think a white man has to resort to rape to have sex with a black woman I just don't know what to say. The notion has always confused me. I grew up in a diverse neighborhood, and I was regularly propositioned by black girls from the age of 17. Having sex with them would have simply been a matter of saying "OK." I'm pretty durn white, so I wasn't their favorite (they prefer at least tan males with some African features), but my physique fit the bill so I got plenty of attention from them. In fact, one of the guys they liked the most was a golden, buff Swedish friend of mine with frizzy blond hair. Aside from the blond afro, the guy looked like an Arno Breker sculpture.

I don't know why anyone believes white men routinely raped black women in the antebellum South. Blacks have sex like they eat snacks. Casual sex is a normal sexual relationship for them. Was it any different back then? I doubt it. Probably most of the sexual liaisons between black women and white men were not with "Massa" himself, but rather his 16-21-year-old son who was not yet master of his own passions. I mean think about it: you're some horny southern boy segregated away from the women who are being groomed to be your future mate, and after a long ride in the hot sun you stop by a swimming hole. Before you emerges some dusky maiden, dripping wet and clad only in some rags. She's smiling, inviting. Flirting. The sun's going down, the cicadas are screeching, and something's filling you up inside. There she is; there you are.

Really, the idea that black girls on the plantation had to be coerced into sex is one of the more implausible myths propagated today. What's truly amazing is that white American males practiced as much restraint as they evidently did compared to their Latin counterparts.

BTW, having had a number of African acquaintances, I can say from experience that black men are possibly the least jealous of any men I've ever met. They will share women without thinking anything of it. This idea of the enraged cuckolded black husband is pure projection, IMO. Since when did black men treasure their women like English gentlemen?

I am in general more attracted to Mexican than white girls. This is because I like women who wear a lot of makeup and dress sexy/feminine. Too many of today's white women dress frumpy and don't wear makeup. This is especially true among low socioeconomic white women, they put no effort into appearance and are extremely likely to be obese, from my observations more than Mexican women (who unfortunately also have an obesity epidemic). Anyway, I am more superficial than Jeb and am attracted to hot Mexican girls who play up their sexuality

Keep in mind that manly-man Ernest Hemingway waxed nostalgic in his later years over an Indian girl he knew from his youth in Idaho (Nez Perce perhaps — their women can be pretty fine)

Wouldn't it have been Michigan? That's the state where the Hemingway family went for their Summers

At any rate, Hemingway's fondness for things Hispanic was a sign of degeneracy.Edward Wagenknecht, who went to High School with him, remarks somewhere that Hemingway's immersion in the cult of the bullfight was a shocking thing in an Anglo-Saxon, a true mark of moral decay

and here was this lithe, feminine little Mexican girl who took him places the yankee girls at Andover neither would have nor could have had they been so inclined.

Trust me — I know people who attended and taught at Andover.

You’re right about Michigan. Hemingway’s first sexual liaison was evidently with an Ojibwa girl named Prudence (heh) Boulton in Michigan’s north woods. For some reason I thought it was Idaho — I read about it when I was a boy and must have conflated the two from other Hemingway works. He writes a lot about the NW.

As for love of Spanish stuff being degenerate, of course Anglo-Saxons would say so, but that doesn’t mean it’s what they think.

While it might be an appropriate tribute to a wife on a 25th wedding anniversary, what on earth does it have to do with the governance of the United States?

In a nutshell. I replayed his words in my head in the context of an anniversary speech, and they worked.

I actually like WASP girls alright on a personal level, but their class consciousness always struck me as ridiculous. I went to live in France as a boy, and consequently learned to speak French without an accent. A few years after I returned to the states, I met a Yankee girl who prided herself greatly on her French cosmopolitanism, but I spoke and read the language much better than she did, and knew the French as ordinary people. I thought she was absurd and pretentious, but otherwise I liked her. Still, I couldn't have ever lived with her, because her attitude just annoyed me too much.

I think she graduated from Andover, or maybe Choate. One or the other in any event -- she's a big shot international lawyer now, but AFAIK still unmarried and childless at 40. I know there are good people there, because my favorite math teacher got a job at Andover, and he was a really wonderful man. But honestly, I'm more at home with loggers and fishermen, and even in what seem to be the most humble of places there are always literate people amongst us whites. This is a great consolation to me, and one of the reasons the diversification (de-whitification, really) of the country makes me anxious.

JEB Bush graduated from Philips Andover in 1971; Andover didn’t go co-ed until 1973*….

The co-ed thing wasn't a big change for these schools. As you note, they merged with sister schools. If your boy went to Andover, your daughter went to Abbot. Andover boys went to prom with Abbot girls, they married each other, etc. Merging the two made no real difference socially.

Dunno.I imagine that, for some of the Empire builders, Burton’s experiences in the “boy-brothels” of Karachi were rather more enticing….

Funny how so few of our contemporary empire-builders bothered to read Burton, isn't it? A day spent looking over his texts might have discouraged them from futile attempts at nation-building in that forsaken part of the world.

As for the argument that black women would willingly have sex with white men, well, I’d like to believe that is so but it is tiresome to point out that given the power relations involved (slave) (master) that in the first place for a black woman to refuse intercourse with a white man was asking for trouble, and in the second place there was no reasonable way for her to say no. Please.

Now seriously, if you think a white man has to resort to rape to have sex with a black woman I just don’t know what to say. The notion has always confused me. I grew up in a diverse neighborhood, and I was regularly propositioned by black girls from the age of 17. Having sex with them would have simply been a matter of saying “OK.” I’m pretty durn white, so I wasn’t their favorite (they prefer at least tan males with some African features), but my physique fit the bill so I got plenty of attention from them. In fact, one of the guys they liked the most was a golden, buff Swedish friend of mine with frizzy blond hair. Aside from the blond afro, the guy looked like an Arno Breker sculpture.

I don’t know why anyone believes white men routinely raped black women in the antebellum South. Blacks have sex like they eat snacks. Casual sex is a normal sexual relationship for them. Was it any different back then? I doubt it. Probably most of the sexual liaisons between black women and white men were not with “Massa” himself, but rather his 16-21-year-old son who was not yet master of his own passions. I mean think about it: you’re some horny southern boy segregated away from the women who are being groomed to be your future mate, and after a long ride in the hot sun you stop by a swimming hole. Before you emerges some dusky maiden, dripping wet and clad only in some rags. She’s smiling, inviting. Flirting. The sun’s going down, the cicadas are screeching, and something’s filling you up inside. There she is; there you are.

Really, the idea that black girls on the plantation had to be coerced into sex is one of the more implausible myths propagated today. What’s truly amazing is that white American males practiced as much restraint as they evidently did compared to their Latin counterparts.

BTW, having had a number of African acquaintances, I can say from experience that black men are possibly the least jealous of any men I’ve ever met. They will share women without thinking anything of it. This idea of the enraged cuckolded black husband is pure projection, IMO. Since when did black men treasure their women like English gentlemen?

Colin Quinn references that in his book about New York, "The Coloring Book".

Black guys are also the only people who seem to genuinely not mind being cheated on. They have that sexual confidence.

They will say, “Shit, tssss, she trynna make me jealous.” They never cockblock. They always want to know that somebody’s “hitting that,” except people didn’t used to say “hitting that” or “tapping that.” I think it was “getting some.”

If a black guy saw you with a girl and he asked, “Are you in there?” and you said no, you’d ruin his whole day. “Awww. Why not, man?”
“Well, she’s got a boyfriend who lives in Queens.” They would stop whatever they were doing and stare in disbelief. “In Queens? He’s in Queens? And she’s in Brooklyn and you’re in Brooklyn! What is your problem, man?”

I'm not sure how true this is but obviously some people believe it.

I do know violence by black males against their wives, girlfriends and exes is pretty high. I've heard they are 7 times!!!! more likely to kill a women they are or have been involved with than are White men.

So they aren't completely passive about it. Maybe they just pride themselves on putting on a front and ACTING like it doesn't bother them in front of other men.

From Frum's excellent profile on Bush

“I’ve actually converted to Catholicism … I’m whatever a W-A-S-C would be. I’m a proud Catholic and a converted one, principally because this was the faith of my wife, and I wanted our children to grow up in a non-mixed marriage. So … no longer a WASP.”

But in “Meet Jeb” he says he met her in 1974 and 20 years later “joined [his] wife” by becoming Catholic in 1994 … after losing a Florida election, then “praying” and “soul-searching”.

So when were his kids born? After 20 years of marriage? The boy is rather carelessly reconstructing his history.

As for Yankee girls being repulsed by betatude, they wouldn’t know it if they saw it for the most part, because they are as romantically “beta” as their men.

I dunno; most of the elite WASP girls that I know (and I know some double debutantes) are highly aware of their value on the dating market and sneer at Beta males. Not much shrinking violet romanticism in them.

As for love of Spanish stuff being degenerate, of course Anglo-Saxons would say so, but that doesn’t mean it’s what they think. Victorian English gentlemen could only dream of having a Spanish lover — even a Gypsy.

If they wanted one, such trollops were theirs for the asking.

A big part of Richard Francis Burton’s appeal was his experience with exotic women.

Dunno.I imagine that, for some of the Empire builders, Burton's experiences in the "boy-brothels" of Karachi were rather more enticing....

That isn’t to say Columba quite fits the bill, but hey, Andover… I mean, seriously. Those girls are bo-ring. The Chinese have a term for it: dead fish.

JEB Bush graduated from Philips Andover in 1971; Andover didn't go co-ed until 1973*....

And as for Andover girls being boring, well, one of those double-debs that I know is an Andover alum. And she's far from boring.Indeed, she and her Andover girlfriends can show a guy quite a night on the town, if they think that he's an Alpha....

Phillips Academy admitted only boys until the school became coeducational in 1973, the year of Phillips Academy's merger with Abbot Academy, a boarding school for girls also in Andover. Abbot Academy, founded in 1828,[8] was the first incorporated school for girls in New England. Then-headmaster Theodore Sizer oversaw the merger.

Other way around, I should think.I use it to signal my wannabe Tory-pansy status.

Why would you “wannabe” that? I’m honestly curious. I’ve spent much of the second half of my life fleeing that pretension (much to my mother’s consternation).

I dunno; most of the elite WASP girls that I know (and I know some double debutantes) are highly aware of their value on the dating market and sneer at Beta males. Not much shrinking violet romanticism in them.

Still, I couldn’t have ever lived with her, because her attitude just annoyed me too much.

I think she graduated from Andover, or maybe Choate. One or the other in any event — she’s a big shot international lawyer now, but AFAIK still unmarried and childless at 40. I know there are good people there, because my favorite math teacher got a job at Andover, and he was a really wonderful man. But honestly, I’m more at home with loggers and fishermen, and even in what seem to be the most humble of places there are always literate people amongst us whites. This is a great consolation to me, and one of the reasons the diversification (de-whitification, really) of the country makes me anxious.

JEB Bush graduated from Philips Andover in 1971; Andover didn’t go co-ed until 1973*….

The co-ed thing wasn’t a big change for these schools.

Funny how so few of our contemporary empire-builders bothered to read Burton, isn’t it? A day spent looking over his texts might have discouraged them from futile attempts at nation-building in that forsaken part of the world.

My black wife is more typical, I think. In her family it is common knowledge that there were long-lived liaisons between women in her family and white men, with many kids produced.

The reasons are the same as they have always been for time immemorial: women are hypergamous. They knew that their mulatto children would likely be provisioned better by a white father–even a ‘slavemaster’– than a black father. [I would show you the 1852 holographic will of her white slavemaster ancestor as evidence, but she would kill me if she found out!]

Further, mulatto children had and still have a higher status in the black community and white community. It’s no different today. Women who have several babies by different high status ghetto baby-daddies are more respected by their ghetto peers. And in the case of our own kids, their “good hair” and light skin are still commented on and envied.

Mandingo was a work of fiction, you know that, right?

I think you're mistaken. Hispanic women love sap, even when they know it's pretend. Faking devotion and helplessness is their stock-in-trade so they appreciate the effort on a man's part. Most popular musica latina is about smitten men and irresistible women. Tell one Mexicana she's Too Much and I'd guess most of the others will swoon.

Man, that ain’t because they’re cheating. Black guys may be tolerant of infidelity, but after getting smacked around by their women for long enough some of them DO react. I witnessed the prelude to a domestic murder between a black couple some twenty years ago. The woman was following the guy around hectoring him and he was shouting in this disembodied howl “why won’t you just leave me alone?!” I stopped for a minute because I thought “this guy is about to go aggro, and she really should leave him alone” but he may have noticed me and quieted down for a moment so I went on my way. Sure enough, within a few days I read in the paper that a man killed his wife right there on that day at about that time. According to the paper he made a full confession, so I never bothered contacting the authorities to offer testimony.

Black women will go to extreme lengths to provoke the men in their lives. I’ve seen it on a number of occasions. Of course, one could also say that black men’s behavior provokes the women. As in many other crimes, there’s a sort of mutually reinforcing situation here.

As for infidelity, black guys are remarkably blasé about it. They must figure that since they’re cheating, too, it’s only to be expected. So long as they aren’t “dissed” it’s forgettable.

White people in general would be shocked to know how many black women genuinely don’t know who their baby’s father is. I know it’s a Jerry Springer trope, but it’s really true. Growing up around a lot of blacks I learned early, but most whites will never be able to wrap their heads around the stark reality, which is that a large fraction of blacks don’t have a clue who their father is. This is what’s behind some of the punitive child support rules (which don’t work for the obvious reason that it only takes one man to impregnate dozens of women), and the welfare debate. The most humane solution would clearly be to pay women to take birth control, but nobody has the balls to propose it. Why not, I say? Put Planned Parenthood and their baby chop shops out of business!

  160. I see the poor self-confidence in this story that you do, but am nice and romantic enough to think this story is sweet. Maybe it is, but Columba’s pictures including when young bring me back around to agreeing with you all. He’s not strong enough to be president. With his money and connections he could have had the gumption to get an attractive girl from a lower station (such as from the middle class in America), sweeping her off her feet like a fairy-tale prince into his upper class. (The American version of Prince William and Kate Middleton. You don’t need to be handsome for this to work.) He may be nice, standing by Columba even after her meager looks hit the Wall, and I’m Catholic, but good men don’t necessarily make good presidents. This is just another boring mainstream status-quo candidate. An arrogant one who has stayed rich, gets hot chicks, and seems to think America is still a real country that matters? Sounds good.

Why would you "wannabe" that? I'm honestly curious. I've spent much of the second half of my life fleeing that pretension (much to my mother's consternation).

I dunno; most of the elite WASP girls that I know (and I know some double debutantes) are highly aware of their value on the dating market and sneer at Beta males. Not much shrinking violet romanticism in them.

Why would you “wannabe” that? I’m honestly curious. I’ve spent much of the second half of my life fleeing that pretension (much to my mother’s consternation).

Who wouldn’t? It acts as a shield against the creeping tide of Mexican vulgarity

I actually like WASP girls alright on a personal level, but their class consciousness always struck me as ridiculous.

Other way round for me.I adore class-conscious WASP girls.Again, a shield against Mexicanization.

I was merely noting that JEB could not have dated Andover girls, seeing as how such things did not exist prior to 1973

  163. Just saw online that the Huffington Post’s two debate posters thought Trump won the debate. I honestly don’t even think anyone would have watched this had Trump not been there in the first place. I can’t even remember the first GOP debate in 2012, or for the matter either party’s first debate in 2008. The MSM is focused on Trump and Kelly, which tells me they think he did fine in debate portion so they are blasting him for being “sexist’ towards Fox’s fake blonde female talking head. She can clearly single him out for attack, but him responding back is “sexist”. I guess Megyn Kelly is the Ellen Pao of debate moderators now.

Kind of surprised at the reactions to SPMoore's post.

I thought it was a given that most often women transferred the culture. As in not even a debating point.

Didn't Rabbis in Italy make rules such that being Jewish passed through the mother's line? I know that there was considerably intermarriage, and that modern Ashkenazim Jews are 50% or so European.

But I assumed when reading of these events, that the Rabbis changed things precisely because children take on the culture of the mother more so than the father. So I'd guess the Rabbis were confronted with a situation where the children of Jewish fathers and gentile mothers just were not what they would call Jewish.

Did I misunderstand the purpose of this?

You may recall that in “Torah-times” tribal identity was basically patrilineal (the Twelve Tribes are derived from male progenitors only), although there are instances where the heirs of Abraham are punished for allowing heathen ideologies into their culture, typically because of the influence of foreign women.

You may also be aware that the Diaspora shows some genetic commonality through paternal descent and very little through maternal descent.

I’ll leave it at that for now.

    It’s a rare Mexican Mestizo/Amerind who isn’t waddling by 29.

That's what they meant when they talked about the Latin Explosion.

Italian women from around Rome (Latium) are also known to blimp out as they age. So many pretty signorinas, so few that age as gracefully as Sophia Loren!

After WWII American women bitched like crazy about all the soldiers coming back with war brides instead of marrying them.

    It's nothing new.

Face it a lot of American women aren't particularly pleasant to be around at all even in the best of circumstances. Trump knows that, at least he's not a Murdoch or a Bush that goes outside his race.

Once upon a time I was involved with the Phil Graham for President Campaign. I was surprised to hear all the upper crust Republican women making snide remarks about the candidate’s Korean American wife. These ladies were all Planned Parenthood, moderate Rinos. But when it came to Asian women marrying White men, it was a very different story.

I wonder if Jeb’s choice of wife will have a similar effect? An underground drawing away as his choice of mate becomes more visible is a possibility.

I see the poor self-confidence in this story that you do, but am nice and romantic enough to think this story is sweet. Maybe it is, but Columba's pictures including when young bring me back around to agreeing with you all. He's not strong enough to be president. With his money and connections he could have had the gumption to get an attractive girl from a lower station (such as from the middle class in America), sweeping her off her feet like a fairy-tale prince into his upper class. (The American version of Prince William and Kate Middleton. You don't need to be handsome for this to work.) He may be nice, standing by Columba even after her meager looks hit the Wall, and I'm Catholic, but good men don't necessarily make good presidents. This is just another boring mainstream status-quo candidate. An arrogant one who has stayed rich, gets hot chicks, and seems to think America is still a real country that matters? Sounds good.

“…..but good men don’t necessarily make good presidents.”

    Bill,

Andover did not go co-ed until 1973. Jeb was graduated in 1971.

Yep. Mexican girls never complained when I called them Hessica, but it turns out they prefer Yessica.

I wonder how much Amerindian blood Columba Bush has pumping through her heart. Her Mexican self obviously has way more Amerindian blood than Ted Cruz’s Cuban father, because Ted Cruz looks Whiter than Columba Bush and her half Anglo Saxon Protestant off springs.

Ted Cruz’s off springs also look Whiter than Columba Bush and her off springs.

Ted Cruz looks pretty damn Irish to me. I bet his dad's ancestors are Galician, or descended from one or several of the countless Irish mercenaries who fought for the Spanish crown.

Ted Crus looks like Terry Bowden.

If there are any Trump campaign operatives reading this blog...

You need to get Trump to start referring to him as "Yeb". That would be great.

I guess from his intro, we learn that the man who wants to be leader of the free world can easily be overcome by emotion, has little self-control, and, when faced with a loss, just tries to understand its "meaning" rather than immediately working to make sure it doesn't happen again.

You need to get Trump to start referring to him as “Yeb”. That would be great.

I think it would be pretty funny too … but it’s not necessarily Trump’s play if he wants to win. I’d say the best scenario for Trump is probably ended up mano-a-mano vs. Yeb.

To me the nominee will be the guy who ends up going one-on-one against Yeb. Then in that final two man race, the voters rather than the money get to decide.

If i’m Trump i don’t want to go against some newer face–say Scott Walker or Ted Cruz–who could more plausibly pick up some of Trump’s line, and will have massive establishment backing. Rather i want the establishment behind Jeb with all his flaws, and then beat him one on one with Republican voters, while the establishment screams. This also gives him a nice winning macho vibe going into the contest with Hillary.

It’s the other candidates that are under pressure to take out Jeb. They need to be the “respectable” alternative to Trump. They need to convince the more establishment voters that they are credible, and the establishment money guys that Jeb is a wounded duck, with too many negatives–including all his ankle grabbing in front of Mexicans–while they connect with voters, but will stay on the reservation. (Not do anything important to piss off the donor class.)

That it would be called “rape” or “sexual assault” today is a no brainer, that it would not be considered rape back then, is also very likely, but at any rate we also know that with very rare exceptions it was not possible for black-white couples to establish normal sexual relations in a marriage, how else would you choose to characterize these relations? “Consensual sex”? Please.

I think that you have been out of touch with northeast Anglo girls for a long time.

I'm sorry womanity has passed on u. Please don't pull an Eliot Rogers/Dylan Storm.

Cuz healthy anglos or normal, never mind high status, people spend all their time on marginal online forums posting incredibly long comments all pilfered from elsewhere rii??? Bro u need to get a life. Def not a healthy human being loool

Dear fellow, you would be amazed at what I am willing to do in order to stave off ennui

As for Mexican women you shouldn’t be talking eh (I think they’re ok… I’m more into the Colombianas and Argentinians when it comes to the latinas)

Obviously, if forced at the point of a pistol to date a Latin American woman, I would pick an Argentine.Mexicans and Central Americans are at the bottom of a very noisome barrel.

Anglo women are hands down the most bland looking ‘white’ women. Some of the slavic women totally outclass them whether in the brains, bodies or faces. The Poles, czechs, hungarians, germans and scandis all follow close by. Some of the Spanish/Italian/Medit women are ok… just as a nappy haired darkie I don’t do as well there loool.

No accounting for your poor taste, dear fellow.

Guys also cut Jeb some slack. 17 yr-old virgin Wasp boy would’ve def fell in love w a Columba.

That’s precisely the point, dear fellow.JEB was a beta male who couldn’t attract Anglo women.Hence, his decision to fixate on a Mexican dwarf.

Come on now, Syon, don’t use that “Dear fellow” thing on me. I actually enjoy your comments and repartée, and “dear fellow” just sounds like you’re calling me gay.

Other way around, I should think.I use it to signal my wannabe Tory-pansy status.

Indeed. Spend some time on Nantucket during the season, and you’ll find that the average deb is very accommodating.

Please.

    This is an interesting post.

    Made me think.
