From the Detroit News a couple of years ago:

Mich. man who led anti-immigration fight nearly forgotten
Francis X. Donnelly, The Detroit News Published 12:00 a.m. ET March 15, 2017

Petoskey — Some say John Tanton is a visionary. Others call him an ogre. But the most common response to his name might be a blank stare.

The last is surprising given he single-handedly started a social movement — and not just any crusade but one of the biggest in history, one that is roiling American politics today, historians say. He is the father of the modern anti-immigration movement.

And the small-town doctor did it all from this rural outpost in northern Michigan.

“He lived an extraordinary life at every level,” said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a Washington immigration-reduction group. “To do something great, one needs to have passion, purpose, energy. John has all those things.” …

John, whose father was Canadian, was born in Detroit and, at 11, moved with his family to a farm in Sebewaing in the Thumb. He studied chemistry at Michigan State and received his medical degree from the University of Michigan.

Ophthalmology was just one part of what would become Tanton’s multifaceted life in this woodsy enclave. He saw patients from Tuesday to Friday, using evenings, weekends and Mondays to chase his other pursuits. Workday or not, he was usually up by 4 a.m.

So, Tanton was an authentic American small town citizen-hero, a real life Jefferson Smith. I suspect that has something to do with all the hate he elicited from the phoneys at the SPLC.

  1. I think you’re right about this. I think a lot of the hostility was of a “traitor to his class” nature.

  2. Did John Tanton not have any children? I would think someone into eugenics and immigration restriction would have lots of children, not zero children?

Did the elite consider Tanton part of their class? As Steve points out, he wasn’t all that wealthy for a political activist. He didn’t have Koch brothers or Tom Steyer money. It had to do with the issues he was pushing and the relative level of success he had. I googled his name right now and the first three results are this Washington Post article, and smear job from Mark Potok himself written for the Daily Beast and an article at Patheos that mostly quotes Potok smearing Tanton. They hated him and considered him beneath them.

John, whose father was Canadian, was born in Detroit

My guess is that was put into the obituary as some from of irony, that a man born of an immigrant parent would be so opposed to immigration.

He helped found the Little Traverse Conservancy, a local preserve that has protected 55,000 acres and 135 miles of waterfront in northern Michigan.

The Tantons gave 20 acres of wetlands to the conservancy, and donated money for the purchase of 236 acres of woods that, in December, was named the Tanton Family Working Forest Reserve.

In other words, he was an authentic environmentalist unlike those who use that title today.

Despite being vastly outspent by a business lobby eager for foreign labor, the trio have derailed every attempt at immigration reform for 20 years, said activists on both sides of the debate.

He really was a real-life incarnation of Mr. Smith.

For pro-immigration forces, a 2007 loss was especially bitter. A compromise bill that would have granted amnesty to 12 million illegal immigrants had bipartisan support and was expected to pass.

But legislators received so many calls against the measure that it shut down the Capitol switchboard, according to news reports. The bill never came up for a vote.

So a bill had bipartisan support, but was so opposed by the public that citizens shut down the Capitol switchboard to voice their opposition. That sounds like the democracy at work. No riots or violence. Just concerned citizens trying to exercise their rights.

There are a lot of good morsels in this obit. I wish I had known more about this guy when he was alive.

But it just goes to show what can be done by ordinary citizens who set their minds to it.

Among them: Between 1982 and 1993, Tanton had obtained $1.5 million for FAIR from the Pioneer Fund, a fringe group that believed whites were genetically smarter than blacks, reported Beirich.

In statements like this you always see “genetically” used. Don’t they realize that that by adding that modifier it implies that whites are smarter than blacks for some reason other than genetics, rather than whites are not smarter than blacks? Is that really what they want to be saying? If whites are smarter than blacks, and if the reason is not genetics, then what is the reason, and why don’t they fix it? Alternatively, if whites are not smarter than blacks, what is the achievement gap, and why is there affirmative action and holistic admissions, rather than simply admissions by SAT test scores?

  11. Barnard says:

My guess is that was put into the obituary as some from of irony, that a man born of an immigrant parent would be so opposed to immigration.

That is an article of faith among our current elite. An immigrant from Canada is no different than one from Ghana, Guatemala or India. According to their logic, if you are of recent immigrant stock, you have no right to call for any restrictions on immigration. At the same time, if you ancestors came over on the Mayflower, every cent you have is the result of historic exploitation and you also have no right to call for restrictions on immigration.

Indeed… Loath the natives have a right to get emotional about it… You’d think immigrants would see themselves as guests who haven’t a right to invite others but then that’s not how ethnic conflict works.

The immigrant veto: Once an immigrant from a non-North Western European country enters a North Western European country or offshoot, the natives lose control of immigration policy. It can stay the same or expand but never contract. The native perspective becomes illegitimate.

Yep, Von Braun said Goddard’s work had saved them years of research developing liquid-fueled rockets at Peenemünde, and that rocket technology was used to go to the moon 25 years later. Goddard was a regular kid who like all boys was interested in nature and would try all kinds of fun (and dangerous) experiments. As he got older he became a voracious reader and was a regular visitor to the local Worcester library. Due to illness and family issues he graduated from high school at 22 and then entered Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he got his bachelor’s degree at 26. He then went on for the doctorate at Clark.

Speaking of overlooked, the Wright Brothers were flying around Huffman Prairie every day for years and still the NY Times refused to admit that the airplane existed or that they had invented it. They couldn’t be bothered to send someone to check it out – it was ridiculous to think that a couple of bike mechanics from the hinterland had conquered flight. The eminent Dr. Langley was working on it in Washington, DC and would surely perfect it eventually as soon as he got the bugs in his steam engine straightened out but until then flight was impossible.

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington came out in ’39. The postwar Hollywood version of this is that something truly sinister always lurks underneath the seemingly pleasant, “white bread” small town and suburbs. Everyone puts on a happy face, but in reality they’re all miserable, depressed, alcoholics, wife beaters, and repressed homosexuals. And the children are neglected or abused. And that’s usually just for starters. There’s usually something even worse, like serial killing. In the Hollywood version, a seemingly upstanding small town eye doctor living out in the woods and getting up at 4 in the morning is obviously a psychotic serial killer harvesting the eyeballs of his victims and getting up early to dispose of their bodies in the woods.

  35. Opposition to immigration was not “single-handedly” created by the courageous and patriotic Dr. Tanton. Dr. Tanton put his money and time toward a cause that already had broad (probably majority) support. But the narrative requires that any belief held in opposition to it must be the result of well-poisoning.

David French at the National Review makes “The Conservative Case for Mass Third World Immigration”

    https://www.nationalreview.com/2019/07/amy-waxs-critics-unfairly-smeared-her-but-shes-wrong/

The problem with David French’s immigration argument is that these people aren’t really the “natural conservatives” he thinks they are. One, they vote overwhelmingly for the more secular, left-wing political party regardless of what they tell pollsters on subjects such as religious belief (racial/ethnic affiliation > lukewarm religious belief); this is a trend that will likely continue for decades. Polls also show the Hispanic demographic (and Muslims in Europe) tends to liberalize their views (less religious, more secular) after entering the United States for a prolonged period of time; this is certainly true by the third generation. The growing presence of non-European immigrants in this country has greatly empowered the ideologies French is paid well to claim he opposes. Two, these people are economically far more socialist in their professed political beliefs, so if your shtick is unregulated free-market capitalism, you can kiss that goodbye – certainly amid calls to raise the minimum wage to $20 per hour and institute reparations.

The total immigrant candidate pool in Europe that simultaneously fits multiple metrics of assimilation is probably much higher than French assumes. Some metrics, among many, to consider:

Historic American voting patterns (vote republican), ability to blend in culturally (not obsessively attack whites on social media, like the same things we like, feel like past American accomplishments belong to their demographic), measures of patriotism such as willingness to die in a war for your country (highest among white males, much lower for non-whites), ability to blend in economically (not rely on welfare, match Caucasians economically and academically without needing Affirmative Action), support for traditional American values such as free speech, no matter how offensive.

Sure, if you bizarrely – and naively – focus on exactly one metric (how much money a small subset of them makes), lots of third worlders would be quite compatible with the United States. But if you focus on anything else, it quickly becomes clear that many aren’t a very good match at all:

Minorities are less likely to support freedom of speech according to all the available polling data – claiming “hate speech” should be prohibited or punished; minorities are more socialist (Tlaib just called for a $20 minimum wage); minorities are more likely to support racial quotas; they are far more likely to vote based on racial affiliation and far less likely to vote with white Americans; once they get here, these groups are more likely to bias immigration towards mass immigration that could (and probably will in the future) spiral out of control, etc etc etc. We are already at the point where the democrat party is calling for open borders in their debates, as well as giving them all free healthcare for life. It’s funny how guys like French never take those metrics into account when calculating how much Indian households are worth.

From the last democrat debate in regards to the topic of religion:

“Christian/Christianity” was mentioned 1 time in the context of condemning family separations of illegal alien border crossers; “Church” was mentioned 1 time in the context of extolling the virtue of “separation of church and state”; “God” was mentioned 2 times, both mentions concerned condemning family separations; “Holocaust” received 1 mention – comparing family separations of illegal aliens with the Holocaust in Poland; “Religion/Religious” was mentioned 4 times (2 mentions extolled the democrat party as standing for any or no religion and 2 mentions condemned the republican party as associating itself with religion and then separating families of illegal aliens); “Religious Freedom” was mentioned 1 time in the context of the candidate’s family history / fighting childhood poverty.

10 total mentions, nearly all negative, on religious subjects for the “naturally conservative” party.

In contrast, racially-charged buzzwords were used over 90 times: “African American”, “Black”, Busing” (7), “Brown v. Board of Education”, “Civil Rights”, “Criminal Justice”, “Discriminate/Discrimination”, “Diversity” (14), “Ferguson”, “Integrate, Race/Racial/Racial injustice” … (19), “Reparations”, “white supremacy”, etc.

“Trump”, a stand in for the white “Other” was used almost 40 times. Traditionally white issues like Social Security received scant coverage while fringe issues pitting the democrat coalition (the immigrants French wants in this country) against republican whites was profound: 50+ total mentions for things like “ERA”, “Abortion”, “Women”, “Contraception”, “Diversity”, “Hyde Amendment”, “Paid Leave” etc etc etc. Male issues received essentially zero coverage – no mention of the suicide rate and just one mention of the word “opioid” from white guy Joe Biden. … And none of that covers the topic of immigration, which was even more cringeworthy. That is the future of the United States if guys like David French get his way.

At what point do we just call this match with French the definite loser? The guy clearly doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Either that or he’s controlled opposition whose purpose seems to involve gatekeeping acceptable commentary, leading it to a position that benefits the left, the government, and large corporations. In fact, he seems to have done exactly that with his latest article: attack Amy Wax while falsely implying he is a conservative speaking for other conservatives – classic gatekeeping, “I’m on your side but let me tell you where you’re wrong so you won’t do this thing that I don’t want you to do”. The end result is the adoption of a left-wing position that ultimately hurts republican conservatives. It’s almost like that is the intention.

BTW, for those interested, I’ve compiled a short list of the National Review’s “The Conservative Case for” arguments. This outfit is clearly control opposition. No wonder they had to rebrand themselves as “National Conservatives” and “Conservative Liberals”. These people will make the jump to the democrat party at some point in the near future, mark my words. They are already laying the foundation post 2020 when the republicans can no longer win the White House due to the polices promoted by guys like David French. This is why they’ve been writing articles like this one – to ingratiate themselves with the left, the guys/gals/bipedal organisms whom they think will write their future paychecks as a faux “conservative liberal” foil.

My favorite part of the 2007 amnesty (at least I’m pretty sure it was the 2007 amnesty, not the 2006 or 2013 bill) was that it mandated that the government had only one business day to deny a request. Any illegal immigrant not rejected within one business day was automatically granted citizenship. I am not making that up.

That was the bill the “racist” public was furious about. That was the “compromise” bill that we were supposed to believe was serious about enforcement.

Aside from how obscene that was on every other level, ask yourself when was the last time it took a government agency less than 24 hours to do anything for its actual citizens. Just wait until the Post Office loses your tax refund to send a replacement.

One more notable sociological observation is just how darn good the Anglo-Saxons are at producing pleasant societies/communities. The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand all very nice places–or at least they were–to live.

Other groups–Jews, Chinese, Armenians, etc.–might hustle more. But the Anglo-Saxons have a much better socio-political traditions, are way more pleasant to be around, much more public spirited and create actually pleasant and productive nations.

(I’m only 1/4 founding stock and half Irish, but i don’t have any problem admitting the Anglos have been the BSDs in founding quality nations.)

This no doubt has a good bit to do with all the calumny and abuse directed at them, by people who can’t stand the thought that their people aren’t actually needed to have nice things.

He was pretty green and also supported population control. Check out the tables of contents at the Social Contract.

Support population control for the other guy, not for yourself.

I basically agree with your thrust here. There’s a reasonable but relatively simplistic math error that “two is replacement”. In fact, if you have a modern society, then competent producitve couples with the health, wealth and capability should look upon three as the default, to make up for the non-firing and late starters.

Tanton was of course “leading by example”, a very WASPy thing to do.

But the bottom line here is population control is another critical reason you need borders. If you have basically a one people nation inside secure borders then you can do–with some eugenic incentives and culture–population control and survive.

But if you are open to immigration then any sort of population control by your own people is just suicide.

As with pretty much everything else, we badly need conservatives able and willing to put this forthrightly. Immigration while you have low native fertility–population responsibility–is simply population replacement, genocide.

One more notable sociological observation is just how darn good the Anglo-Saxons are at producing pleasant societies/communities. The US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand all very nice places–or at least they were–to live.

Also, England, Hong Kong, and Singapore could be mentioned. Maybe even Denmark and Germany. In Africa, Kenya and South Africa were standouts.

They love the things you don’t like, and they love rubbing your face in it because they hate you. If immigrants voted republican, they’d be against immigration. If immigrants were overwhelmingly blue-eyed and blond-haired religious Russians, they’d be calling for air strikes against them in the editorial pages of the New York Times.

The proof of this is the fact that the Left takes every measure necessary to keep their kids away from diversity through various means such as enrolling them in elite private schools and forcing them to play sports like tennis and golf where non-Asian minorities are poorly represented. They also sequester themselves away from diversity in rich white abodes like Malibu, all while simultaneously diverting public attention away from their obvious hypocrisy through continual Trump derangement on social media: [certain Hollywood director] “I can’t enjoy this sunset in glorious 97% white Malibu because muh racist Trump thousands of miles away. BTW, please forget that I helped chase out Whole Foods from Malibu a while back. Also, Russia Russia Russia despite the fact that my father often mocked conservatives obsessed with communists and Russians back in the day.”

It’s all about doing the opposite of what “The Other” wants. This is why guys like David French oppose white European immigration to the United States: conservatives might actually like that kind of immigration, or so the left thinks. Therefore, “that immigration bad but other immigration good.” What a joke.

  51. Jack D says:

You keep proposing a false dichotomy – either a pure Founding Stock society or Mogadishu. A society is like a stew. Certainly a stew where the main ingredient is beef is more pleasant than one where the main ingredient is nothing but black pepper. But a stew made out of nothing but beef is going to be bland and boring and lacking in flavor. You want to have some salt and pepper in your stew, some spices, some vegetables, a little red wine, garlic, etc. The choice is not between having an all beef stew or an all pepper stew. If you do it right you can have a stew where beef is the main ingredient but not the only one – that’s what we used to have. Now we are approaching the point where the stew is 1/2 beef and 1/2 pepper and it’s getting to be pretty unpalatable.

  52. anon[161] • Disclaimer says:

“You keep proposing a false dichotomy – either a pure Founding Stock society or Mogadishu.”

It’s not a false dichotomy. One often leads to the other, eventually. This is especially true in a democracy where the children of non-white immigrants are allowed to vote in elections. Opposing continued immigration from growing populations of non-white immigrants and their progeny will be construed as racist by said group and result in fewer votes for the opposition, leading them to hedge on the issue and eventually abandon it all together once that group gets large enough to decide election results. Then the floodgates open.

Add in some immigrants and then you’ve got a beachhead for more. Let in too many and then you can’t refuse anyone, even illegals, because that would be racist against those already here – and they vote in elections. Hence, the last democrat debate where nearly every candidate vied for the non-white vote by favoring “decriminalizing” illegal immigration…and giving them free healthcare as the debt piles up, too! Then suddenly you’ve got open borders and you’ve lost your country.

Exactly this phenomenon is starting to play out in Europe, too. The UK’s Labour party is more diversitarian by the day, and the conservatives are playing catch-up least they be called racist for refusing mass immigration. They are also under the “natural conservative” delusion. Much as the republicans are about to find out in the United States, their electoral chances are going bye bye in the next few decades at current immigration rates. All of that happened because Tony Blair opened up the floodgates in the 1990s. Now, they can’t close them least they be called “racist”. Go back and look at PM’s Questions from the 1980s and even 1990s. What do you see? Native Britons on opposing aisles. Now what do you see? Different countries, heavily segregated by race, on opposing aisles. That dichotomy is profound.

“While the US did exclude non- European people from immigration at times, there was never any religious test for white immigrants (and Arabs were considered to be white) – they could be various types of Christian (Catholic, Orthodox), Jewish, even Muslim.”

Excluding non-Europeans largely excluded many of those other groups by extension. Muslims, for example, were a very small percentage of immigrants throughout history. Jews weren’t a significant percentage of immigrants until the later quarter of the 1800s because they disproportionately resided in countries under some sort of immigrant restriction as opposed to favored West Europeans.

“After the latest Amy Wax controversy, I read her article that her talk at the National Conservatism conference was based on, as she suggested that critics of that talk, like Zach Beauchamp, do.

…The article is a thoroughly shocking and disgusting piece of work, that I don’t have time at this moment to critique in detail. Here I want to mention just one aspect of the piece, which is that it references the views of John Derbyshire, Steve Sailer, and Jared Taylor approvingly, in the sense of insisting that they are putting forth a viewpoint which has been unfairly marginalized. She also attempts a rehabilitation of Enoch Powell’s infamous “rivers of blood” speech from 1968.

Derbyshire, Sailer, and Taylor are unambiguous and unapologetic white supremacists. To put it another way, if these writers aren’t white supremacists, then the phrase has no meaning.

    Sailer:

“America`s relatively brief experiment with a generous welfare state was doomed by our African-American population. America tried to import the two fundamentals of the Swedish welfare state—high welfare payments and an end to social disapproval of illegitimacy—beginning about 1961. In parts of the U.S., such as heavily Scandinavian Minnesota, this worked reasonably well. But American voters were confronted with stunning speed with the realization that African-Americans responded differently than Swedes did to the new incentive structures. Welfare allowed much of African-American society to revert to African-style family structures.”

(He then quotes Steve’s Katrina passage he probably found on wikipedia or rationalwiki)

“What should an academic institution do when when of its tenured senior faculty members tries through her work to mainstream white supremacy, which is what Wax is very clearly doing?”

LOL. You just can’t help it. Diversity is our greatest strength. Thanks Jack. Never heard that before.

Seriously, you can’t seem to even keep it together one comment to the next. The last one was Jewish minoritarianism is all my imagination. Then this one–coming from a Jew who is HBD aware–is “Hey, let’s not get carried away with this majoritarian stuff, without us minorities y’all be a boring incompetent tasteless beef broth.”

No Jack, i’m not proposing a “false dichotomy”. I simply reject your Jewish self-justifying nonsense–as does history and just basic looking around the world with open eyes.

People and societies simply aren’t the same as stews–or any other kind of food.

The Ottoman empire is your classic stew. How’s that compare to say Britain or France or Germany.

India is much more stewy than China. (And i get this same sort stewy b.s. apologia for the caste system creating these “good at this” groups from an Indian friend.) How’s that competition working out?

The Russian Empire was also much more stewy–with lots of wonderful spicy Jews–than Germany, Britain, France. Big success.

Japan, South Korea and the Scandinavian nations–before falling for minoritarianism–very unstewy! Hellholes!

China is climbing to world dominance … i guess because of their spicy hill tribes and muzzies, to spice up that boring Han stew?

You don’t seem able to grapple with the basic truth of your own people: The Jews are a highly competent middle man minority. But middle man minorities aren’t the least bit required or desirable, they are simply a possible parasitic “solution” of society game theory. Essentially, we’ll keep to ourselves, use ethnic solidarity to network and dominate various trading opporunities. (The gypies are another such “solution”.) This has been deeply unpleasant for every society that’s had any concentration of Jews. And occasionally deeply unpleasant for the Jews as well.

As i’ve point out a few times the nations that kicked out the Jews did much, much better–it’s just a historical fact. It is just flat out better to develop *your own* middle man (fiannce, trading) capabilities and have them be open to your own people rather than monopolized by outsiders (some spicy vegetable). I don’t want a society where this vegetable has locked up finance, this one convenience stores,, this one casino gambling, this one hotels, this one IT shops. There isn’t anything pleasant about it, it’s just tedious and contentious.

You might not want to eat it, but when it comes to socities it’s much better to just be a beef broth.

Jewish behavior has evolved to not only dominate economic niches, but then to then “lock in” that dominance by taking over the host nation’s culture-producing & transmitting niches too. Similarly, in 1920, the NYT mocked Robert Goddard’s early work on rocketry.

That professor Goddard, with his ‘chair’ in Clark College and the countenancing of the Smithsonian Institution [from which Goddard held a grant to research rocket flight], does not know the relation of action to reaction, and of the need to have something better than a vacuum against which to react — to say that would be absurd. Of course he only seems to lack the knowledge ladled out daily in high schools.

But at least they had the decency to print a retraction. In 1969.

I don’t think it would. The Left and their fake conservative allies are very good at sophistry, as evidenced by the David French article in question. They would just say you’re racist for wanting it stay white. They wouldn’t have to justify making the country majority non-white because they control the means of information distribution, that thanks to controlled opposition types and free-market libertarians like Rand Paul and his father.

Many of those who favor mass non-white immigration are clearly racially motivated to act against whites and their perceived interests, especially republican whites. This is evidenced by noting that blacks, a group greatly harmed by mass immigration, are the most enthusiastic for it: immigration is seen as a good way to rub white faces in something they don’t like. That’s why the left continually pushes for more of it. The Left thinks mass non-white immigration benefits them politically. It provably does. This explains why the Left opposes Russian (white, possibly conservative) birth tourism while simultaneously favoring mass non-white immigration / birth tourism; the latter group votes overwhelmingly for the democrat party and always will while the former group may not if allowed to stay.

But they won’t have to answer for this hypocrisy because they control the media (all of it), while also having a huge, well-financed army of controlled opposition, think tanks, attorneys, legal defense organizations, various website “watchdogs” (David Brock’s Media Matters), the academic sphere, corporations, etc etc etc. That’s too much power to take on in a headfirst attack unless you’re also ready to bring down the entire system and the economy upon yourself in the process. Your average “sit back and grill” conservative probably isn’t willing to take things that far.

This is why I favor throwing sand in the gears of the Leftist state apparatus – discredit all its cogs and you stop the mechanism. We aren’t going to challenge the left on their obvious hypocrisy without first taking out those playing both sides within our own ranks. That means discrediting the National Review and company, now apparently heading back to its “invade the world, invite the world” roots with recent Iran warmongering.

There is simply no way David French really believes in his immigration position in the wake of all the available counter-evidence, but there he is making these seemingly plausible but actually false arguments anyway. Why? Well, he’s been made into a multi-millionaire by the left for his efforts; same with lots of fake conservative grifters. French gets to write articles for the National Review ($250,000 annual salary) and Time magazine; he’s a mainstay of democrat party MSNBC. He’s the right’s version of Alan Colmes, or the Washington Generals. His shtick is to appear in opposition to a contrived leftist argument so as to gain the support of a conservative audience while not actually delivering anything for them. He then parlays that fake, mild-mannered “conservative” cache into social recognition by the mainstream press and a hefty paycheck.

He’s a guest on MSNBC because he attacks the right, or does a purposely poor job at defending them (Alan Colmes, Washington Generals). This is great theatrics for the left; they feel as though they are winning a real contest against a stand in punching bag for the right. Guys like this aren’t intentionally putting up a real fight, though. They are paid well to lose on purpose.* In contrast, if David French were like Steve Sailer, he wouldn’t be drawing $250,000 annually from the National Review and appearing on MSNBC.

*Russian state television does exactly the same thing. They often invite on a guy who appears in opposition but only slightly so. He either ends up agreeing, partly, with the majority opinion so as to reinforce it after some kind of contrived debate or he makes a fool of himself to make the crowd hate him and his position. This is what happened on Russian state television after John McCain’s death. A Russian opposition figure was brought on to both agree with the majority opinion denouncing him while also making himself look bad by defending him, reeving the crowd up to hate McCain even more and the opposition as traitors. This is a tried and true tactic employed by essentially all state-run media that I’m aware of, including both CNN and MSNBC.

They wouldn’t have to justify making the country majority non-white because they control the means of information distribution

So perhaps the way we should be phrasing the question is…why do they need it to turn brown?

If race truly doesn’t matter then why would it be a bad thing for a country to stay 100% white, or for the US to remain majority white? Race is irrelevant, right? Conservatives aren’t supposed to care what this country looks like, racially, except that it’s obviously incredibly goddamned important to leftists what it looks like, and that look is most definitely not white.

All races are exactly the same, except that we need diversity, because all races aren’t the same, but no race is morally inferior to another, except that whites are incredibly evil, and no race should be accountable for its worst members, except that all whites are pretty much responsible for Hitler and the Third Reich.

So I guess what I was getting at is whenever they ask us why stopping mass immigration is so important to us simply turn the tables on them and ask them why letting in unlimited numbers of people is so incredibly damned important to them. Because it obviously is, irregardless of the fact that in every other matter (protecting the environment, eliminating economic inequality, etc) it is contrary to what they claim to believe.

The cleanest test case is Britain and France kicking out the Jews, versus Poland accepting them. (And later Russia inheriting them.) Obviously it is not a very clean test. Being “in the West” was itself a very very good thing. And Britain had its advantage of being an island nation and specifically orienting itself to be a naval–ergo mobile–power, which was very advantageous as the great global struggle played out.

Nonetheless if one comes to it honestly, i think the conclusion is that it’s very good to kick out any non-integrating middle man minority and do everything yourself. Be your own banker, trader, merchant. Control your own economy. Take on every role and have those roles essentially open–both competitive and open to all the talent in your nation.

In contrast, the heavy Jewish presence in Poland suppressed native development there. Plus creating high social contention and inhibiting national unity. When Russia inherited its pieces in the late 18th century, then it inherited a Jewish problem. And despite its various reformist efforts of the 19th century could never get the Jews to give up their outgroup hostile, ethnic-networking ways–i.e. essentially their Jewishness!–and integrate to being Russian.

The Jews–in America esp.–churn out ludicrous–but amazingly successful–propaganda that they were poor MLK style integrationists constantly oppressed by irrational hate from the goyim. In fact, they were closed, tribal, majority hostile, ethnic networking nepotists, contemptuous of and exploiting the native peasantry. When you see the hostility toward ordinary flyover American, media Jews feel free to express in elite publications today, in America–which has treated them so well–… imagine what it was like for the Polish or Russian peasant back in the day, to deal constantly with that in any commercial transactions day after day. Uh … no thanks.

Maybe the Hondurans or someone could actually benefit from the Jews. (Though i’d argue they really just need to develop as Hondurans–slow, but the path forward.)

But for any reasonably competent population–whites, Japanese, Koreans, Chinese, Indians, Persians–having a non-integrating middle man minority is not the least bit of a blessing it’s a curse. Develop you’re own people to fill those rules and you’ll be much better off. The payoff comes quickly. But in the long run–absolutely no question. You’ll be richer, stronger, and more united. You’ll control your own economy, and control the destiny of your people, your nation.

Pat Buchanan was born in 1938 and married in 1971. Even outside of squaring up whatever they did with their Catholic faith, Buchanan was 40 before Louise Brown was born. I don’t know his wife’s age. But all this surrogacy stuff and pretty much all the modern fertility treatments were ramping up after their normal child bearing years.

But, yes, our side–normal white people–need to have more kids. And, yes, it would have been great for Pat and his wife to have a bunch of kids. Pat’s lived a great life most ways, but truly feel sorry for him on that.

Jack’s stew analogy is kind of lawyerly word salad. For clarity it’s helpful to look at what it actually means–unpack the lawyer words into the basic math.

People are not a stew that is cooked and eaten–maybe as leftovers for a few days or a week–keeping it’s same form. People mate, reproduce.

So unless their are hard barriers to mating people in any given locale will tend toward “one people”. As American whites were well on the way to doing–despite immigration waves–before the great deluge.

So for Jack’s desired “stew” nation to exist you either:

    1) Continually bring in new different peoples to be the new lumps in the stew. Which–again math–means either ever increasing population until your nation is unpleasant, or population replacement (the native contribution continually dwindling). That’s the–very simple–math of immigration without end.

    2) Have a differentiated stew, because of racial boundaries that most people (at least in one group) just do not want to cross. Think blacks and whites in the US. Gee that’s an incredibly appealling prospect.

    or

    3) Have a differeniated stew, because you have tribal minority groups that are sufficiently hostile to the majority to keep themselves endogamously separate. I.e. the Ashkenazi Jews or Gypsies in European history. This is of course what Jack is actually trying to advocate, justify. Fun, fun, fun! Does anyone–non Jewish–think that was a great experience? Let’s time travel back and ask some Polish or Russian peasants and tradesmen how beneficial and wonderful having the Jews around is.

In sum … same old Jewish minoritarian shit.

No. Let’s just have our boring–boringly pleasant!–beef-broth nations and let Jack and his fellow tribals have their stew “nation” with anyone stupid enough to sign up for it.

Jews were banned from England for 367 years. Was that an especially great part of British history? Not really other than Henry VIII and QE I, and the latter permitted Sephardi settlement without revoking the Edict.

The Jew-heavy Netherlands punched way above its weight compared to England upon its independence.

It also isn’t accurate to call the Jews of Norman England “middlemen.” They weren’t. There were very few of them, probably under 1000 adult men, and they were bankers or doctors. Same for Northern France. And in the case of Poland, Jews were frequently the majority or plurality in some areas. So not “middlemen minority” there either.

If your blood-libel of my distant cousins were accurate I’d let it go, as of course there are plenty of faults and misdeeds that could be of interest.

The two wars I mentioned are very relevant as they pit the most antisemitic v most philosemitic states of the 16th and 20th century against each other. In both cases, God’s repeated warning He will curse those who curse the Jews proved true.

The G.K. Chesterton essay “What is America” is interesting in retrospect. It was written in the 1920s. He notes the lack of a religious test for immigrants and predicts that someday the U.S. will be filled with Muslims.

I think France expelled its Jews but they quickly came back. France has had a near-continuous Jewish presence since Roman times.

The choice is not between having an all beef stew or an all pepper stew. If you do it right you can have a stew where beef is the main ingredient but not the only one – that’s what we used to have.

This is exactly The Derb’s position, and it’s exactly right.

  104. After personally knowing him for over 20 years, and, as a world traveler who has witnessed human overpopulation and its devastation of this planet, John Tanton proved himself the most visionary man, along with his wife, MaryLou, in the 20th and 21st century. His basic foundational drive came from human overpopulation, and that, no amount of immigration would save the third world that adds 83 million, net gain, new babies annually. But it would destroy first world countries. Look at Canada, Europe and America today being overwhelmed and overrun. That same third world added 4.1 billion people from 1965 to 2019. Those numbers will gain another 3 billion by 2050. Tanton’s voice wasn’t just a cry in the wilderness, but he created organizations that are trying to stop endless immigration because of the untenable ‘exponential growth factor’ that cannot be sustained, and always leads to collapse. One look at the ‘catastrophic climate destabilization’ gripping the planet right now and it will collapse much life on this planet in this century–Tanton tried to reason, to write, to organize humanity to change course. For that, he faced vilification by vacant minds and really billions of stupid people, and many ignorant leaders in the USA and worldwide. We face a horrific future that could have been avoided. E.O.Wilson stated that will will lose 1/3 of all animal and plant life because of human encroachment by 2050. We face unprecedented water, energy, resource and arable land collapse. WSJ’s Jason Riley’s vitriolic piece on Tanton shows Riely to be an ‘innumerate’ or mathematically illiterate. Tanton will go down in history as one of the greatest minds, greatest activists and most decent men in the modern era. When American and all societies begin collapsing from endless growth, the victims will be crying out to God or whomever, but the carnage will accelerate because Mother Nature Always Bats Last. Frosty Wooldridge, 6 continent world traveler, author of: America on the Brink: The Next Added 100 Million Americans.
