“Bibi, help me out here … Is it 1 button or 2 buttons for that awesome Bibi look?”

From Politico:

Israel accused of planting mysterious spy devices near the White House

The likely Israeli spying efforts were uncovered during the Trump presidency, several former top U.S. officials said.

By DANIEL LIPPMAN 09/12/2019 05:14 AM EDT

The U.S. government concluded within the last two years that Israel was most likely behind the placement of cell-phone surveillance devices that were found near the White House and other sensitive locations around Washington, D.C., according to three former senior U.S. officials with knowledge of the matter.

But unlike most other occasions when flagrant incidents of foreign spying have been discovered on American soil, the Trump administration did not rebuke the Israeli government, and there were no consequences for Israel’s behavior, one of the former officials said.

The miniature surveillance devices, colloquially known as “StingRays,” mimic regular cell towers to fool cell phones into giving them their locations and identity information. Formally called international mobile subscriber identity-catchers or IMSI-catchers, they also can capture the contents of calls and data use.

The devices were likely intended to spy on President Donald Trump, one of the former officials said, as well as his top aides and closest associates — though it’s not clear whether the Israeli efforts were successful.

Now we know the subject matter for which Jerry Falwell, Jr. tried to enlist the FBI to investigate colleagues at Liberty University for trying to extort him.

Jerry Falwell Jr sends racy photos of his wife to Liberty University officials — and rants about his penis size: report

Insiders revealed their discomfort with Liberty University president Jerry Falwell Jr. discussing his sex life in graphic detail, and their suspicions about a sweetheart real estate deal struck with a personal trainer.

Falwell is “very, very vocal” about his sex life, according to multiple current and former university employees and officials, reported Brandon Ambrosino for Politico.

One senior university official, who has since left Liberty, told Ambrosino about a car ride he took with Falwell about a decade ago.

“All he wanted to talk about was how he would nail his wife, how she couldn’t handle [his penis size], and stuff of that sort,” this former official said.

Longtime Liberty officials also said that Falwell has shown or texted male confidants, including at least one employee, photos of his wife Becki in provocative or sexual poses.

On at least one occasion, Falwell shared a photo of his wife wearing what appeared to be a French maid costume, according to a longtime university employee with knowledge of the situation.

Falwell intended to send the photo to Becki’s personal trainer, Ben Crosswhite, as thanks for helping her reach her fitness goals, the employee said.

However, he accidentally sent the image to several other people — which Falwell later denied.

“I never had any picture of Becki Falwell dressed in a French maid uniform,” he told Ambrosino, “and never sent such a non-existent photo to Ben Crosswhite…”

To paraphrase Yogi Berra, his dad were alive today to read about this he’d be rolling over in his grave. At least it appears Jerry Falwell, Jr. was faithful to his wife. Which is commendable because his wife is no Tulsi Gabbard…

This series of events turns out to be only a particularly rococo Parisian instance of what happens again and again in this history: a seeming national advance in intelligence is squandered through crossbred confusion, political rivalry, mutual bureaucratic suspicions, intergovernmental competition, and fear of the press (as well as leaks to the press), all seasoned with dashes of sexual jealousy and adulterous intrigue. “Because of this political mishandling,” as Andrew puts it dryly, the decrypts “did as much to confuse as to inform French policymakers.

Not for the first or the last time, the point of spying—to know what the other side is likely to do—had been swallowed up by the activity of spying, a frantic roundelay in which each actor is trying to score obscure points against his internal enemies, with a certainty (often misplaced) that someone else is playing him in another complicated roundelay..

It might be worth exercising skepticism about a story like this revealed days before an Israeli election.

How so? This is not an opinion piece. Either devices were found and they are concluded to be Israeli or they weren’t and aren’t. Politico says that they were and are. The only warranted skepticism in regard to the reported of the findings of the US government would need to be supported by evidence that shows that the US government did not conclude what Politico states.

As such, I’d hold that the righteous skepticism would be placed with statements like yours “a few days before an Israeli election”.

Why would anything secure be sent in the clear over an ordinary cell phone? If the Israelis can sprinkle these devices around Washington, then why can’t the Russians and the Chinese and those branches of the Permanent Government that hate Trump (i.e. all of them) do the same?

Stingrays are used a lot by police. Washington has a whole alphabet soup of police agencies – the DC Police and the Capitol Police, etc., not to mention a whole bunch of intelligence agencies – the FBI and the CIA and military intelligence, etc.

Many of these agencies don’t really like Trump and would love to get the goods on him. When Comey met “privately” with Trump, Comey was peeing in his pants he was so anxious to leak the details of the meeting to the press. (Trump asked for his loyalty – can you imagine that? The President asking for high officials of the Executive Branch to be loyal to the Administration – how dare he? Doesn’t he know that the FBI is accountable to no one?) The FBI always liked being in a position to blackmail the President going all the way back to Hoover days. Maybe they were still trying to prove that Trump was talking to the Rooshians.

If I had to bet, the Stingrays belonged to one of those agencies. Maybe the Israelis were tasked to plant them to preserve deniability and that’s why they haven’t been rebuked. Israeli intelligence and US intelligence are frenemies. OTOH, they share a lot of intelligence with each other. OTOH, they spy on each other too.

(This is straight out of HBO’s The Wire, season two–2003, where stingrays were used by the police.)

Were I the Israelis, I might have been more interested in the Obama administration than the Trump administration. Though surveillance is always useful.

BTW, where were the FBI, Secret Service, and the myriad other alphabet security services keeping the nations capital safe from foreign prying eyes and ears? Comey’s FBI seems to have dropped the ball on lots of things.

  27. Anon[204] • Disclaimer says:

A StingRay vacuums up all the cell traffic in the area and makes cell calls impossible, doesn’t it? It seems like it would be noticed very quickly.

Instead, the device causes a disruption in service. Under this scenario, any attempt by the cellular device user to place a call or access data services will fail while the StingRay is conducting its surveillance

Remember that anti-Israeli Palestinian-American professor who lost his job over a string of unhinged bigoted tweets, Steven Salaita? He ended up at a university in Lebanon, but lost his job there also. He also somehow screwed up what was for a while a lucrative speaking career. He seems like a very articulate and smart asshole. He describes how his parents think he’s a fuckup.

He started a blog, and it turns out that he is driving a school bus in the D.C. area. Hahahahaha! What shadenfreude. I recommend his two blog posts on bus driving.

    https://stevesalaita.com/an-honest-living/

    https://stevesalaita.com/left-rights/

I wonder how long until he’s fired from driving a bus. The way he describes it, getting the job is quite an ordeal, like getting a top secret security clearance.

His horizons have shrunk, and his big issue now is not Israel, but cul-de-sacs, which are a bus driver’s nightmare.

The cul-de-sac aptly represents the peculiar class structure of US society. It’s an architectural dud that kills the joy of walking and wastes land in order to cram oversized houses onto limited space while maintaining illusions of privacy.

The cul-de-sac illuminates the triumph of automobiles, with all the global violence their preeminence requires. It affects property values, a petite bourgeois obsession, and thus facilitates the disbursement of compatriots into discrete subdivisions. It nurtures fantasies of safety and serenity, paving over the terror of a less disciplined world.

They disconnect neighbors in ways that make cooperation and comradeship virtually impossible.

The cul-de-sac happens when a society scorns public space. It is an epiphenomenon of the profit motive, fancied by consumers made to imagine a world with endless resources. The kind of security it promises can exist only by maintaining precarity in neighboring environs.

Cul-de-sacs isolate communities into classed enclaves, manifesting a colonialist myth that development is the epitome of progress, each flattened sphere its own exceptional world.

He hates cul-de-sacs, but he loves slums:

The working-class apartment complex offers exhilarating contradictions. It is worn down, with piles of trash bags outside of overflowing dumpsters, but it also possesses an energy absent from manicured subdivisions with single-family homes. Street life exists in the apartment complex: adults congregate on stoops to chat in multiple languages; children scurry across receding green spaces; everywhere one hears the reassuring noise of music, laughter, argument. Whatever its problems, the complex has achieved the status of a community.

Everywhere one hears music, twenty four hours a day … and smells barbecue.

    Genuine Mossad operation.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/palestinianauthority/9730669/Khaled-Meshaal-How-Mossad-bid-to-assassinate-Hamas-leader-ended-in-fiasco.html

During his first term as Israel’s leader 15 years ago, Mr Netanyahu authorised a risky attempt to assassinate Mr Meshaal in the Jordanian capital, Amman. This decision amounted to a backhanded compliment of sorts: Mr Meshaal had only become the leader of Hamas’s “political bureau” a year earlier in 1996. The dispatch of an Israeli hit squad so early in his leadership betrayed his rapid ascent into the ranks of people rated worthy of assassination.

To add to his standing, Mr Netanyahu thought that killing Mr Meshaal justified the risk of acting in Jordan, where Israel had a peace treaty and supposedly normal diplomatic relations. Five agents of the Mossad, Israel’s external intelligence agency, were duly sent to Amman, posing as Canadian tourists. They ambushed Mr Meshaal on a street corner and sprayed poison into his left ear, inflicting instant paralysis and, so they hoped, death within 48 hours. Then everything went wrong. The Jordanian security forces responded to this brazen daylight attack, arresting two of the Israeli agents and forcing three to hide in their country’s embassy, which was promptly surrounded by troops.

The Mossad agent ran like hares and were caught by an Arab who waved down a taxi for the pursuit. A blonde (just like in all the best spy films) Mossad woman doctor administered the antidote, which was Naloxone the opioid antagonist. Need I bring up the GRU mised the target and killed someone else doorknob novachuk?

    http://clausewitz.com/readings/OnWar1873/BK1ch07.html

Everything is very simple in war, but the simplest thing is difficult. These difficulties accumulate and produce a friction, which no man can imagine exactly who has not seen war. Suppose now a traveller, who, towards evening, expects to accomplish the two stages at the end of his day’s journey, four or five leagues, with post horses, on the high road—it is nothing. He arrives now at the last station but one, finds no horses, or very bad ones; then a hilly country, bad roads; it is a dark night, and he is glad when, after a great deal of trouble, he reaches the next station, and finds there some miserable accommodation. So in war, through the influence of an infinity of petty circumstances, which cannot properly be described on paper, things disappoint us, and we fall short of the mark.

On the other hand , Israel seems to have a secular ,leftish ,Ashkenazi elite deep state issue of its own, and Mossad ,(based on anti-nationalist statements of ex Mossad management) much like American intelligence services, appears to be ground zero of anti nationalist “resistance”. Lester, a missionary, is on a mission to persuade McCandless to sell the info: “McCandles, look at your shoes…”

—Fine, I sold it. If that gets you out of here I’ve sold it.
—I don’t believe you. Who, who did you sell it to. I don’t believe you, McCandless. He threw down the crumpled snapshots shaking free the torn half of an envelope, —what was in it. Eyes of addressee only what was in it… and he was down digging a hand in the carton, —where’s the rest of it. You might have some classified material in this mess you know that? You might have walked off with some classified material… he straightened up emptyhanded. —They could clean this place out, get a court order and come in here with a truck they could clean you right out, you think that’s something to grin about? Go ahead, pour another drink, you ever seen the FBI on a rampage? Tear out your bookcases rip up your floors you think they wouldn’t do it?
—You think they’d waste the time? you think they’d even…
—I’ll tell you who’ll waste the time. I’ll tell you who’ll waste more time than you’ve left alive McCandless. That’s somebody who thinks there’s a leak and brings the pressure down from the top, and won’t stop till they find it. Maybe three or four agencies running down sources and none of them knows what the other ones are after. They don’t know who else is after what they’re after. They’re so jealous they won’t share the time of day. They don’t know if the other side’s in there too, they don’t even know who’s on the other side and every one of them thinks the other ones have been penetrated so they penetrate each other. They’re afraid they’re being fed disinformation so they put out a little disinformation of their own, the only thing they know is if somebody says he’s got what they’re after and they haven’t got it, if the other side says they’ve got it and pulls out the rug there’s no way to prove they haven’t. What did they pay you. That work you did for Klinger, you just said you sold it who did you sell it to. What did they pay you.

  55. Back in the day, men, occasionally, had meetings to discuss affairs of state and if you wanted to know what they discussed/decided you had to turn them somehow–money, women, drink, blackmail, ideology, torture, etc.–or else capture some papers that detailed discussions/decisions/plans. Later phones allowed some discussion at a distance and later radio (bugs) opened the possibility of one time physcial penetration allowing remote snooping.

But now these people walk around blabbering *constantly* into radios broadcasting their most minute “thoughts” to the world.

And these drama queens could no more stop doing it, than a baby could stop wetting its diaper. It’s “who they are”.

That’s true. There’s no such thing as a 100% friendly foreign intelligence service. MOSSAD does what it needs to do, and I’ve got nothing against that.

But it’s also true that Israel happens to be the most aggressive spyer against us, in the company of Russia and China rather than the UK or Australia. And that they exploit their legions of useful idiots on Capitol Hill and in the media to the full, which often has results that are actively detrimental to our own interests.

    >So the interesting question is not the story itself but who planted this story and what were they trying to accomplish.

Straight middle aged men who’ve been married for more than 30 years don’t brag about nailing their wives and about how their 50+ year old wives can’t “handle” their “penis size”. That’s just bizarre. It sounds like what a not totally straight man imagines how straight men talk and behave.

Perhaps not coincidentally, there have been reports about Falwell and a young male personal trainer, Falwell and a pool boy, a hostel the Falwells owns in a gay neighborhood in South Beach, Miami, and photographs of Falwell at a “circuit party” (some sort of gay nightlife thing) in a Miami nightclub.

    https://www.rawstory.com/2019/08/jerry-falwell-jr-gave-his-personal-trainer-a-sweetheart-land-deal-using-liberty-university/

Reuters reported Tuesday that Falwell and his wife, Rebecca, hired a personal fitness trainer named Benjamin Crosswhite in 2011. He was a 23-year-old recent Liberty graduate. But after a series of real estate deals signed by Falwell, Crosswhite scored a “sprawling 18-acre racquet sports and fitness facility on former Liberty property.” He was then given a $2 million line of credit for his business from a bank using the property as collateral.

This isn’t the first strange relationship Falwell has had with a young man, however. In 2012, Falwell and his wife went to a Florida luxury resort known for topless sunbathing and a massive underground nightclub described by one travel guide as “30,000 square feet of unadulterated fun.”

Falwell met a young pool boy named Giancarlo Granda, who soon entered into a business relationship with the right-wing Christian leader.

The Falwells subsequently agreed to help Granda purchase an LGBT-friendly youth hostel in Florida that features pamphlets for strip clubs, as well as a sign that reads, “No Soliciting, Fundraising, Politics, Salesmen, Religion.”

Falwell invested a total of $1.8 million, with $800,000 in renovation costs, to help Granda build up the hostel.

Not what I was saying. Pollard derailed our naval technological answer to China. Pollard should not have been “punished” like a “murderer.” Israel should have been made to go through every lying denial (at the time they had this spiel about how it was all Pollard’s idea and they didn’t even want him to be an asset), then be told it was all a misunderstanding, and in fact Pollard would be allowed to keep all his possessions (including the sports car he mesmerically forced Israel to give him with his mighty magic), and be allowed to make Aaliyah, and in fact he was en route right now. And then they should be made to wait by a phone, and be told that something happened. That’s how Pollard would have been handled in a sovereign country.
But even in that scenario I cannot conceive of what “rebuking Israel” would entail. If an ant tells you in perfect English that you are a bad person, what would you do?

It takes a Jew to really understand a Jew, which is one reason a lot of the antiJewosphere has always been people who were usually partly Jewish. Rockwell for one. There are dozens of examples.

Any dealer in Nazi memorabilia will tell you Jews are their best customers.

Most of the rest had some personal connection to a Jew or some Jews that went awry, like William Pierce.

Nothing about Jews, Judaism or Jewish influence (good, bad or indifferent) is really simple and much of it has many levels, some “esoteric” and some quite mundane. That’s because the very fabric of Western society was based on some Jewish ideas-really Jewish ideas, as opposed to the kind that has existed since AD 70. Call them Israelite or Hebrew ideas as opposed to Jewish if you will, as the CI folks do.

Still-“Modern Ashkenazi Judaism” has proven hostile to Western civilization and so has to be countered, controlled or kicked out if all else fails. In the real End Times, the Book of Revelations says all Jews will live in Israel, so until that happens the rapture bunnies are just blowing crap out of their rear ends. Genuinely observant religious Jews are too busy being Jews to cause much trouble and should be left alone, though not subsidized.

Israel is a National Socialist country, like Singapore and increasingly the PRC, but that’s their business. If they become Greater Israel and take out chunks of their neighbors, if they can do it with out us getting embroiled I don’t care that much. If you know who came back to life today, he’d probably convert to Judaism and become Prime Minister of Israel.

    Or wait. Maybe……he did…

I don’t believe in reincarnation, but if I did, I’d be sure sure he’s a Jew today.

Espionage by its very nature is an extralegal activity and sometimes spies have to be dealt with outside the law. That isn’t to say that untrammeled brutality is always best, but the idea of reciprocity should be paramount.

Israel has assassinated many people it has regarded as existential threats and Pollard presented an existential threat to the US. And it’s a fact that the CIA and other spy agencies have assassinated their internal spies in the US before. Given the inevitable bleating Jewish organizations not ostensibly part of Israeli internal operations and Israel itself would be subjecting the criminal justice system to, Pollard should have been whacked and his corpse disappeared somewhere. Israel would have quietly got the message.

The Hispanophone “right wing dictatorships” were hardly choirboys in the ranks of nations, but they kept their countries from turning into Marxist prisons. Unlike in all Communist countries and only Communist countries, any Spaniard, Chilean or Argentine was free to leave if they hated it so much. Some did. Spain at its Francoist worst was a clean, safe place where if you stayed out of politics you could earn a living and had no rational fear of being killed, imprisoned or harassed by the State. Or learn to fly at Blue Angels Leader level.

The leader in any aircraft formation has the easiest job – the others need to maintain position relative to the leader, the leader just flies. Further, any fighter pilot can fly “Blue Angels” level formation, or they’d not be in fighters. Being good at formation flying is a big part of the sort in flight school. The rest of your comment makes sense I suppose.

No, no, you’re missing the point. He doesn’t want him to ACTUALLY learn the whole Talmud, he wants him learn to SOME of the Talmud. More particularly about 5 lines of it that when quoted out of context make it seem as if the Jooos are really really evil and regard all goyim with contempt. Never mind that the Talmud was written 1500 years ago in a very different world where “goyim” meant idol worshippers and that other than the Orthodox most Jews today never study a word of the Talmud (the average reader of Stormfront can probably quote more of it, specifically those really juicy parts) . The important thing to know that Joos are really really evil.

You seemed the other day to view von Neumann as a MoT in good standing. Is this one of those “Hitler was a German, Mozart was an Austrian” things?

Personally, if I were deciding the outs and ins, I’d disclaim any ties to a traitor and pathetic loser like Pollard, but be proud to claim a great, immensely accomplished patriot like Weinberger as one of my own.

The reason we don’t execute prisoners of war (aside from the fact that it’s a war crime) is that we want to encourage reciprocity. Even Arabs keep captured Jews as hostages to be traded and try not to murder them, at least sometimes. We could have executed Pollard but then the next time the Israelis caught one of ours they would have been entitled, according to the unwritten rules of the game, to do the same to him.

Not everyone was free to leave Francoist Spain. In particular you couldn’t leave if you were dead. This amounted to hundreds of thousands of people. The same in Chile and Argentina on a somewhat smaller scale. Franco’s Spain sounds like a dream land to WNs – all white and Christian, no immigrants, no immorality, no birth control, no abortion. But for some reason they were as poor as church mice.

It’s not how I view these folks, it’s how they view themselves. Pollard views himself as a Jew. Weinberger viewed himself as a Christian. von Neumann was mostly atheist until he realized that he was going to die real soon and decided to hedge his bets at the last minute. Genetically, all of these folks were Ashkenazi (Weinberger was 1/2) and had/have high intelligence (if perhaps not always wisdom).

I can’t find any sources for this claim other than far-left, Islamic and alt-right websites writing decades after the fact. Are there any contemporaneous newspaper stories about this event, or confirmation by someone involved? Does this Learjet have a tail number?

There does seem to be a game of telephone going on, as the versions of the Falwell/Learjet/1979 story I found range from the relatively pedestrian, Falwell was allowed the use of an Israeli Foreign Ministry Learjet during a speaking tour, to the increasingly far-fetched: Falwell was allowed the use of an Israeli Foreign Ministry Learjet indefinitely, the Israeli Foreign Ministry gifted one of their Learjets to Falwell’s church, they gifted it to Falwell’s church for his personal use, they gifted it to him personally, or they purchased one brand new to give to Falwell personally.

“Jews today never study a word of the Talmud”

I am a hasbarist in good standing and have a Jewish berserker personality (just ask Ron Unz), and I am not even sure what the Talmud looks like. One big book? 10 volumes? Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic or a mix?

If “Electronic Intifada” website’s “Conservative Watch” column isn’t a reliable source about Christian supporters of Israel, who can we ever trust these days?

Blue Angel and Thunderbird leaders are guys on their second tour who not only did very well in their position but have a lot of other things to think about as well. Both teams have lost 4 or 6 mn formations becuase Lead flew them into the ground either pilot error or equipment failures. It’s true the leader has the easiest job in the formation but he has to look out for everyon else at all times as well.

Further, any fighter pilot can fly “Blue Angels” level formation, or they’d not be in fighters.

They can fly formation but off the cuff no, they can’t do the show routine that tightly. It takes a lot of work to go from competent tactical fighter pilot to formation airshow work whether in jets or Pitts Specials. In fact the jets are probably easier to fly the routine in and certainly easier to fly overall, though things do happen faster. The airshow teams work very hard for a long time to get that good and the aircraft are always tweaked in various ways. Usually the slot airplane has to have a titanium or stainless steel leading edge put on the vertical stabilizer, smoke systems have to be added, et al.

Spain is poor by European standards but rich by Middle Eastern ones, and people with drive can do well. That said, Spain was relatively poor long before Franco and still is. The Castilian, as Steve pointed out, is not a very book oriented person, Catalan books being as popular as Castilian (spanish to the rest of us) books despite there being a LOT less Catalans. My limited observations of them were that they seemed not stupid, but not very curious about the rest of the world and not too entrepreneurial.

And to be honest it won’t. If he can buy a Macbook and continue to use that via the Mac gui, he doesn’t need Linux, the only advantage to which is that he could use a much less expensive and in other ways potentially better laptop. It’s his money, he can spend it as he likes, though no one on the right should be financing Apple in my opinion. That’s all that is, my opinion.

Just your comments will get him that far. (Sorry, was that too harsh?)

Jews today never study a word of the Talmud

    No, just Koreans apparently.

Sometimes people even come out … changed by the experience.

As someone in the industry, I would say that of the big five (Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft), Apple is the least bad. While not exactly innocent of the charge, unlike the others they don’t spy on literally everything you do (not an exaggeration), and in the relative sense they’re the least aggressively SJW of the bunch, though I will grant that’s like searching for moderation among Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin and Mao.

All of which is to say that the day, when your device announces you’re banned from logging in and it has reported your hate speech to the authorities, will come sooner for Androids and PCs than iPhones and Macs.

Mac build quality also remains far and away superior to PCs, though if you’re buying a Mac laptop I suggest you either try to find one of the old ones or wait for the upcoming new ones that don’t have the utterly godawful “butterfly” keyboards.

Fair is fair, but are we spying on Israel in that sense? I’m sure we listen in and have satellites checking on them but as far as human assets on the ground, I’m not sure we are.

Nice talmudic hair splitting. It happened. Whether Israel allowed him to use a jet or gave him the title doesn’t matter. It shows that the Israeli government had a major hand in the rise of Falwell. Pathetic that you fall back on the “only bad goys notice this” rhetoric, on this blog of all places
