As the North American population gets more diverse, it also seems to get more childish. Recently, with the ongoing demonization of “whiteness,” spats over Favorite Colors are coming to the fore. From the Canadian Broadcasting Company:

Winnipeg Jets’ Whiteout street parties need name change, says black organization

Promoting a Whiteout downtown can be triggering to people of colour, group says
CBC News · Posted: Apr 11, 2019 7:33 PM CT

Winnipeg’s Whiteout street parties are attracting thousands of Jets fans downtown to celebrate their team, but for some people the image of throngs dressed head-to-toe in all white can be threatening.

Among them is Alexa Potashnik, the founder of Black Space Winnipeg, a non-profit organization that lobbies for safe spaces for Winnipeg’s black community.

She posted a message on the group’s Facebook page on Wednesday morning, ahead of the Jets’ first game of the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs, suggesting the name of the playoff party be changed.

Along with it, she posted an image and the caption: “Have a look at these photos from past Jets pandemonium/fan appreciation. The four men wearing all white Jets outfits with pointed hoodies … remind you of anything?”

The Whiteout started back in 1987 as Jets fans’ response to the Calgary Flames’ Sea of Red during the playoffs. That was at a time when the Jets home colours were white, not blue as they now are, but the tradition has stuck.

“I get the colour context 100 per cent, but it’s the culture that we’re talking about. It’s the wording we’re critiquing,” Potashnik told CBC’s Up to Speed host Ismaila Alfa on Thursday, citing a headline that called for turning Winnipeg’s downtown white again as playoffs returned.

“It’s triggering for some people. For marginalized communities — whether that’s black communities, Indigenous people of colour, folks with disabilities, queer communities, it impacts us all.” …

“We’re just saying, how can we make these parties so that everyone feels safe? That’s the biggest thing.” …

While there has been an emphasis on security and ensuring people feel physically safe, she suggested more consideration should be given to emotional safety — and that means changing the culture and tone around the marketing of the event.

  1. Is she that annoying voice on Windows?

Potashnik? You can tell from her very name that she emanates from Canadian soil:

Alexa Potashnik = A honkies’ tax, pal!

    2. )

    3. )

Stand Hands Up Comedy is in her blood:

“With each death, a realization dawned on Alexa: the people she saw organizing on the streets in Toronto and in cities across the US were claiming spaces for black people—what about Winnipeg? “Just because we don’t see black people getting killed by the police [in Winnipeg] doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be talking about these issues.”

You see this creeping infantalism in American culture as well. Nearly all of the most popular movies are broadly targeted, poorly written, poorly constructed, cgi cartoon fests aimed at little kids and their parents who never quite grew up: Antman, Star Wars, The Avengers, Captain Marvel, Black Panther – ugh, now that I think of it, Disney made a huge push to get Black Panther an Oscar for best picture; what an embarrassment! Remember the days where there was at least some art behind these kinds of movies? Where the hell did movies like The Matrix and Terminator 2 go? And movies that don’t target this audience are reserved for (1) gay men and upperclass females – La La Land (2) blacks. That gets old quick. No wonder Star Wars crashed in Asia and Alita did better than expected.

And don’t even get me started on the American music scene. Gross.

Personally, I think this isn’t just an issue of creeping infantalism, though. This is becoming the public’s religion. In a multicultural society, the only way people can have any sense of shared experience is through non-offensive entertainment; thus, there are more words written for Marvel fan lore on various wikis than there are words in the New Testament, Quran, and Torah combined. The multicult masses are less likely to fight one another over non-offensive things everyone believes didn’t happen anyway: could Goku beat Superman in a fight?

The downside is that the quality of everything declines* in response (market capitalism contributes). Since everything must be broadly targeted and non-offensive, it must appeal to the lowest common denominator. Therefore, modern movies lack vision and modern music lacks a distinctive sound; honestly, tell me if you could really differentiate between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift if you didn’t already know in advance who did what (or whose boyfriend). Every movie must have tons of ‘splosions, no thematic motif, no unique visual style, and no exclusive target audience that isn’t kids and their immature, gen X parents (especially not a normie heterosexual white male audience).

Another downside to this is that studios miss out on lots of profitable ventures. Crazy Rich Asians, remember that movie? It succeeded because, unknown to many in the industry, it was made with an underserved target audience in mind: heterosexual females. Surprise! There are millions of women out there who fantasize about the kinds of bad stereotypes our multicult overlords say they don’t (or shouldn’t) – marrying a socially desirable rich guy, for instance. The success of this movie was obvious to me well in advance, but there are still those who don’t get it. Shame.

*This also explains the failure of several other movies. Ghostbusters 2016, for instance. For that movie to have been successful, it should have broadly targeted heterosexual males and specifically targeted smart white males + watch the budget. They didn’t even bother. They took a guy who makes low budget movies for cat ladies and put him in charge of this property without any consideration to who would go see it; the entire cast was gender swapped in the middle of a divisive election year, the humor of the original was was removed (ew, a con artist man chasing after a cute woman – gross…patriarchy), and the budget inflated with cgi cartoons for little kids and their immature parents. Not surprisingly, it lost Sony $70 million and was banned from China. But it should have been obvious in advance that it would fail.

Good survey of the current crowd-appeal cinematic wasteland.

I have only seen “First Man” this year. Very cool (though too much drama during the landing scene). I wanted to take a look at Cameron’s version of Gunnm but I may be too old for that.

My two younger office colleague was just holding forth about how it was all made up in a studio in Hollywood and about the suspicious colors of late 60s photographies in books from back then. Having shown a stark lack of real-world awareness of what is possible with creakytech if one has a good management, a clear goal, lots of money, and dedicated minds, they then went back to pretending to do engineering.

Now we have pictures of black hole shadows 40 million light years away and Higgs boson mass estimates, while locally our team can’t get even a basic schedule on paper.

  55. @Redneck farmer

how many black people are there in Winnipeg?

    Same as everywhere: too many

    Just kidding Truth! (maybe)

  56. A few things are going on here:

Firstly, native-stock Canadians seem to know intuitively that they are only allowed to organize lame, corporate-approved events in the public square. During NHL playoff time, Canadians are more than happy to spend up to 5 hours standing around outside beside some corporately-named arena, stare at a screen, wear overpriced merchandise and cheer on their squad of Scandinavian mercenaries. In Western Canada, these events usually skew around 95% white. Even here in Toronto, the playoff rallies at Maple Leaf Square are usually around 80% white.

Could you imagine if all those 20- to 40-something year old white Canadians got off the proverbial couch and instead focused just one tenth of that supportive energy towards Western-civilization preservation? If they did, Third World immigration would come to a stop. Cultural Marxism would be put in the rubbish bin. Canada would actually stand a chance. Instead, we are doomed to civilizational collapse due to our collective complacency and spending 6 months of the year indoors.

I’m surprised this Potashnik character wouldn’t take a wiser approach and instead just let the goys enjoy their remaining bread and circuses. It’s always the weaker yet more vociferous elements of the Coalition of the Fringes which make a stink over something so childish and puerile. Someone like Bernie Farber or the Canadian chapter of the United Jewish Appeal would never make a stink over something like this. All this Potashnik animal has done has caused Manitobans to realize that an ugly dark-skinned woman is ruining their fun. Nothing clever or subtle about this attack. Full, frontal warfare led by a useful idiot.

You can feed her, house her, succor her, yet this child-beast will never, ever be happy. The normies will catch on. Rebel Media is already on it.

During the middle part of last century, both Winnipeg and Montreal were the major seats of Jewish power in Canada. Since the Quiet Revolution of the 1960s in Quebec and decreasing economic opportunities in the Prairies, that mantle has shifted increasingly to Toronto. The Jewish networking events here in Toronto are some of the most sophisticated and lavish affairs I have ever seen. I think the quality of the Jews in Winnipeg, however, is not quiet what it was. Winnipeg used to have a robust network of Jewish trade unions, Royal Legion clubs, professional associations, etc. This Jewish cultural zest has largely disappeared and has been replaced by this particular abomination. Jews probably privately cringe about her even if they may give her nominal support.

  57. Don’t worry. The Blues will take care of this problem in short order

  58. @anonymous

  59. “I may identify as black, but do not present as such”

Odd, that didn’t work out too well for Rachel Dolezal.

  60. Everytime a non-European bitches about any aspect of European nations, they live in:

Non-Europeans know deep down that they will never connect to Europe, even after several generations. This “white privilege” thing is shifting the blame from their parents who brought them to a white country and the politicians who let them in, to the ordinary people of the country whose ancestors built it for hundreds (or in the case of Europe, thousands) of years. The SJWs actually get it right in a sense, that aliens are at a hopeless disadvantage in our countries, but their solutions and who they blame are off.

  61. @Reg Cæsar

Funny that they are terrified of white people yet quite happy to depict a native american indian war bonnet, when each feather indicates a scalping, a skinning, a shooting, a tomahawking of an enemy. Not that you’d learn that if you googled “indian war bonnet feather meanings”. Seems the indians were all peace, harmony, and crystals – not at all the kind of people who tortured people for days by staking them out over an ant’s nest. Include ‘scalping’ in the search for more honesty.

  63. @Reg Cæsar

    “Potashnik.”

  66. @techanon

She lives in a world of non sequiturs. She just throws out the same talking points in all situations.

  67. As we strive for totally inclusive diversity, we attempt, at the same time, to perform a synthesis of the contradictory elements of physical biology (personhood) and mental culture (personality) to achieve a comprehensive and non-contradictory understanding of post-modern multi-cultural existence (globality). Think about it. Confused? Getting a headache? You have no-one to blame but your conceptual chains.
How will we know when we, as individuals in the collectivist and altruistic society we aim to create, have succeeded in achieving what is being mocked by traditionalists as a Utopian and seemingly Totalitarian enterprise? The answer is self-evident to those who are super Trans-logical: When we have achieved radical equality of all the disparate characteristics that can and have been attributed to humans anywhere. Yet we have only begun to grasp the unintended consequences of counter-productive forces of the deep-state of human consciousness. I do see a light at the end of the conceptual tunnel when I stop to take inventory of where we are epistemologically, and where Mx. Potashnik will take us if we let him/her. Stop resisting. It’s going to be alright.
It’s alright now that we’ve now been empowered by Mx. Potashnik to demand emotional equality as the next stage of becoming. We will evidently be successful when we all feel emotionally safe, and when emotional equality insures that every nook and cranny of our awareness is a social and political safe-space. A safe-space is geographically where bad vibes, aka hate speech and hate thoughts, cannot resonate within the limits of finite human understanding.
I love my feelings. Don’t you love your feeling? If you don’t there’s something wrong with your method of approach? Perhaps you should stop thinking; that helped me a great deal in post-modern psychotherapy. I think, and at the same time I also feel, there’s something very wrong with your extremely limited point of view: nothing personal. “What are you thinking?” is not a valid question. “What are you thinking for?” more closely approaches the Potashnikan Truth. Thinking with concepts is fuzzy thinking at best because words can’t have fixed meanings in a mental realm where everything is constantly changing. Thinking just makes analysis less effective. If there are an infinite number of positions that approach and inform each issue, then the child in each of us is unfairly being challenged. QED. I don’t know what to think; therefore I hate to think. I hate to argue, don’t you? What good would it do now?
Abandon reason, all ye who enter here. Truth can only be imagined; in a democracy, Truth is whatever you, as part of the collective, believe it is, no more and no less. You’re with me on this, right? We are all Democrats now, right?
Now that pot is legal, things are getting better and better. We’re all smoking the same stuff, right?
