The Ferguson Effect is one of the more blatant in the history of social science. It occurred both on a modest scale nationally, and on an acute scale locally in cities where BLM triumphed, such as St. Louis in 2014, Baltimore in 2015, and Chicago in 2016. But it’s not part of The Narrative. From CityLab in 2016:

Study: There Has Been No ‘Ferguson Effect’ in Baltimore
BRENTIN MOCK MAR 15, 2016

… Many factors played a part in the city’s homicide spike—but not the one most often cited.

The 2014 killing of Michael Brown by police turned the word “Ferguson,” the name of Brown’s Missouri hometown, into a call for action against police violence. Proponents of aggressive policing styles, however, have managed to appropriate the term to fit an opposing agenda. While the Ferguson cause has been about exposing the devastating consequences of the over-policing of black neighborhoods, the “Ferguson Effect” is a campaign about over-hyped, alleged crime waves overtaking urban landscapes.

… But can Baltimore’s homicides be attributed to the so-called “Ferguson Effect”?

The evidence for that kind of attribution is “very weak,” according to a study released Tuesday by the Johns Hopkins University sociologists Stephen L. Morgan and Joel A. Pally. Between August 2014 (when Brown was killed and the Ferguson riots erupted) and April 2015 (when Freddie Gray died in Baltimore while in police custody), most violent crime in Baltimore actually decreased, the researchers found. …

That violent crime escalated after [Freddie] Gray’s arrest, death, and the subsequent riots [in March 2015] is irrefutable, and Morgan and Pally explain that a “Gray Effect” may have overcome Baltimore.

If the word “Ferguson” was permanently and exclusively attached back to its original meaning, we might find evidence of an “effect” when it comes to a number of recent, inspiring events: the bringing down of Confederate monuments, the ousting of Chicago’s police chief, or the recent Chicago protests that forced Donald Trump to cancel a rally. Such events are more fitting of the “Ferguson Effect” tag, and they’re things that Black Lives Matter activists actually had a hand in. Anyone who tries to steal “Ferguson” to tie its meaning to rising crime is simply trying to distract people from the real, progressive effect that organizing since Ferguson has had on society.

Of course, Chicago went on to have an extremely homicidal 2016, following the 11/23/2015 release of the videotape of the very bad shooting of Laquan McDonald, which led to multiple triumphs of progressives over the CPD over the next few months.

To wit, the decline of counter productive effects caused by BLM style “progressive advances,” and the increase in basic adherence to rules we call laws. I think his last act as AG, to eliminate consent decrees, will have a lasting beneficial effect, both in police departments and in human resource departments.

Too bad they won’t have Sailer give the lecture in person at Yale Law. Sailer would be shocked what a sh*thole Connecticut has become. Especially New Haven. Even in the nicer areas you get the feeling of decline and a hollowing out. A good barometer for a city or state’s well-being and potential is the number of Chinese immigrants. E.g., New Haven, CT has 2,635. Bellevue, WA has 15,804.

  15. @ no. 2: “What the heck is a ‘justice editor’?”

People have a tendency to forget that Plato’s “Republic” is not in fact a utopian description of some ideal city-state, it’s “ekshually” a detailed philosophical investigation into what we might think we mean when we throw around the word “justice.”

It’s more than 300 pages long, depending on whose translation you use, it’s highly technical, and it doesn’t reach a universally-approved conclusion. But it’s the best that a secular viewpoint could offer. In other words, even [email protected] Plato couldn’t persuade you conclusively.

So now, in addition to the already insanely-complicated view of “justice,” we add the even more opaque term “social,” in order to have the impossible-to-define term “social justice”.

Let’s just cut to the chase, and say what our entire press really means: “justice” and “social justice” are just polite code for the real question: “is it good for the Jews?”

  16. @benjaminl

Glad to see Sam Francis is being taught at Yale.

My only reservation would be that the sneaky spawn of the managerial class that goes to Yale might see the work of Sam Francis and immediately scheme on how to maximize the damaging consequences of the societal trends brought about by the horrible, nation-wrecking louts in the managerial class.

  17. Are Mock, Morgan, and Paley white people who don’t really care about dead African Americans, providing they aren’t killed by white cops?

  18. Baltimore Blacks got riled up by Obama and the Democrats and the corporate media and then those Blacks rioted and murdered each other. I’ll say they are still at it, but on a lesser scale.

I’m sure the Blacks in Baltimore are killing each other at a good clip under Trumpy, too.

The most important chart that shows a population explosion in sub-Saharan Africa should also be considered when looking at the spike in violent criminal mayhem and butchery in Baltimore and other American cities with substantial Black populations.

  23. Steve, you’re always on about the Laquan McDonald shooting as if it was some horrific execution of an innocent. I don’t see it.

Shooting the kid sixteen times is a big problem to be sure. But the kid was walking towards cops with a knife he refused to drop. The kid chose to die, just not necessarily with sixteen holes in him. A single shot, however, was certainly within reason.

Simple pro tip: don’t approach cops with a weapon and if cops have their guns drawn, drop to a prone position and do exactly as ordered. If that’s too complicated then the world is certainly better off without you in it.

Btw, this is proof that ‘inclusion’ is invasion. If a people are compelled to INCLUDE others, then they will be included. IF the US must ‘include’ the world, then historical Americans will be replaced and outnumbered by the Third World. If women’s organizations must ‘include’ men-who-say-they’re-women, then their space will be dominated by angry male ‘women’. Look at women’s sports. ‘Inclusion’ of trans-men has led to women losing to men(who say they’re ‘women’).

Bullshit. On a code-three call cops— who have an average IQ of 105– get so emotionally jacked up they pose a danger of shooting anything that moves, especially anything that can best them in a fight without that weapon, e.g., dogs and black males*. And because they are jacked up and have modest intellects, they start shouting out definitive, and conflicting, orders. (see first video below).

*So why do black cops shoot blacks at a higher rate? Because, for the most part, those blacks who go into police work are not among the toughest and most ruthless. Those guys have records and don’t take orders well and don’t become cops. So black cops know, more than anyone else, that without the gun it’s bagpipes time for them.

An innocent white male does his best to comply with Simon Says directions being shouted by a trigger-happy cop dressed like a commando. He lost.

Those who enjoy law enforcement work out on the streets have a confrontational, and often hostile, attitude. And those same types are also inclined to get maxed out on pumping iron and Dianabol. Here you see this on display (sans the gun play) between Bergen County cops and NJ State Police.

  36. @Stan d Mute

Mas Ayoob articles I’ve read in “American Handgunner” about cops involved in shootings sometimes mention that the cops DON’T recall blasting whole magazines off during a gunfight. Probably something to do with the concept of shooting until the threat is neutralized. That’s why it’s important to never run out of ammo (a 30-33 round magazine is not excessive, no matter what your anti-gun politician/cop/media whore tells you).

Reason crime rates soared during the carter and Regaen administrations is that abortion wasn’t t legal during the 1940s, 1950s and 60s when the feral blacks running amuck during the Carter and Regean administrations were born and grew up in the generous welfare of the northern cities

Crime rates began to fall in the late 1980s early 90s because fewer feral black thugs were born after 1973.

All day long you can see the Acela Nation pissing on the Has-To-Live-With-Blacks Nation to the south and the Thinks-They’re-Spanglish-Frontiersmen Nation to the southwest (these two latter redneck populations of course yearn to do the same to AN but their Jew quotient is pitifully meager by comparison). The Left-Coast-OPM Nation brags endlessly of its superiority to all of the above, they can’t shut up about it–I know because I used to live there. But prudently they avoid criticizing NYC-DC to keep the $$$ sluicing through, despite the demonstrated financial illogic, because keeping an account with waves of major losses at the #1 favor bank is a useful thing.

Abortions reduce welfare expenditures, and those savings can then be invested in more and better law enforcement, research and improved/advanced medical, communication, surveillance technology etc., which in turn reduces crime and saves lives, etc.

More Police, Managed More Effectively, Really Can Reduce Crime

First, increasing numbers of police officers can reduce crime. Increased police in the 1990s brought down crime by about 5 percent (this could range from 0 to 10 percent). Police employment increased dramatically in the 1990s, rising 28 percent. One major contributor was the 1994 Crime Bill, which provided funding for 100,000 new local officers. A body of empirical research has found that simply having more officers on the streets, even if they are not arresting or stopping anyone, can be a crime deterrent.

Public benefits and costs of government funding for abortion.

In state referenda to end public funding of abortions for poor women, one of the most successful tactics of abortion foes has been to charge that abortion funding increases the burden on taxpayers. A state-by-state analysis by The Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) shows that the opposite is the case. For every tax dollar spent to pay for abortions for poor women, about four dollars is saved in public medical and welfare expenditures.

Reason crime rates soared during the carter and Regaen administrations is that abortion wasn’t t legal during the 1940s, 1950s and 60s when the feral blacks running amuck during the Carter and Regean administrations were born and grew up in the generous welfare of the northern cities

For the record, the increase in crime rates during the Carter and Reagan administrations was as follows:

    Murder: Carter, + 14%; Reagan, -13%
Forcible rape: Carter, +35%; Reagan, +4%
    Robbery: Carter, +30%; Reagan, -11%
Aggravated assault: Carter, +22%; Reagan, +28%
    Burglary: Carter, +17%; Reagan, -22%
Auto theft: Carter, +8%; Reagan, +24%

As has been noted in other discussions, the temporal relationship between abortion and crime rates is miscalibrated and the decline in the propensity to commit crimes was not registered in those birth cohorts first winnowed by abortion on demand (quite the contrary). If I’m not mistaken, the originator of the contention has admitted the supposed effect was magnified by some data entry errors. (One also has to ask why the manifestation of this supposed eugenical effect after 1990 was so regionally variable; see the diverging trajectores in the homicide rate in New York after 1990 compared to Baltimore after 1990)

Steve the number of these articles of brown women complaining about competing with white women for men is amazing. This one is the most BPD as she is complaining about not receiving as many matches on Tinder as she expected. (She was 23 at the time, so hardly needed to go through Tinder for dates, her social world should have sufficed, but is complaining about not getting as much validation from men implicitly indicating that they’d like to have at least a one night stand with her)

    https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:uOx2xEY1X9kJ:https://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/ev8vva/south-asian-women-like-me-still-face-subtle-racism-on-tinder+&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ie&client=ubuntu

My time on Tinder felt soul-destroying. Getting fewer matches than I might have expected bled into other areas and started to over-complicate my relationship with the apps. It gave me a massive complex about which pictures I used on my profile and whether my bio was “good enough”. In hindsight, obviously no one gives a shit about anyone’s bio. The result was an unfair internal assumption that most people on dating apps were racist until proven otherwise. I subconsciously developed this self-preservation tool to avoid rejection and racism.

In a piece for gal-dem, Alexandra Oti astutely points out: “If you are told on a daily basis that people who look like you are unattractive and undeserving of love, a natural reaction would be to seek out that which is being denied to you as a form of validation of self-worth.” This is exactly what I did.

The minute I moved to London, my dating app game soared in comparison to my time in Birmingham. Along with this, however, came another issue: fetishisation masked as preference. On a first date, a guy told me that racial preferences were totally natural – South Asian women were his “type” – and used “science” to back it up. But ethnic groups are themselves too diverse to flatten into a “race preference” category. To say you like black women highlights a problematic assumption that all of them act, or look, the same. In a society, like any other, that perpetuates stereotypes (black women as angry or explicitly sexual, East Asian women as compliant), saying you’re “into” an ethnic group can reflect those sweeping assumptions.

I was lucky in that my experience was far less aggressive than others. A friend of mine, also brown, said she once made the mistake of using an app display image of her in a sari. The subsequent reply – “I see you’re going for the sari seduction… Can you teach me the Kama Sutra?” – was enough to compel her to remove said picture and hop off Tinder.

My god, I hope her friend doesn’t have PTSD. (The article even alludes to the not infrequent ‘dick pics’ that women on Tinder get, but apparently this was more traumatising.)

Here is the picture she used on Tinder.

I didn’t believe this. I knew about isolated hamlets in Nunavut receiving all their groceries one cessnaload at a time, forcing prices up to cartoonish levels. Tellingly the poem has the line ‘Aussie girls, so pretty but so disrespectful’ (In the context of the poem their ‘disrespect’ is the 11 year olds not observing the moment of silence of their Hijabi classmate as she stands to attention to mourn the dead of her fatherland, her real fatherland, Turkey, that is) The amount of resentment (Despite all the photos of her and her classmates decades ago being all smiles) is palpable.

Turks were a Prussia-like “army state” for most of their history. They have martial traditions that go back before many of ours. Part of Ataturk’s credibility in building modern Turkey (during which he frequently gambled his authority with far-reaching reforms) was his war record. The nineteenth century image of the ineffectual, unaware Turk refers (pretty accurately) to their record as administrators. Turkey also produced The Breath, which has the best combat sequence on film.

In my opinion, low-activity MAO-A plays a greater role in criminality than low IQ, so having less intelligent/less educated black women have more kids does not necessarily mean that their kids will automatically be more violent and criminal:

Furthermore, people like Dr. Phil assume that a gene-environment interaction is synonymous with a “genetic predisposition,” but the “non-active” allele actually appears to play a protective role that negates an environmental trigger’s impact. For instance, low IQ does not increase violent tendencies in men with MAOA-4R, but it does in men with MAOA-3R.

    http://archive.is/v9NsQ#selection-507.2-507.357

The most effective way of reducing crime via abortion is to make sure criminals, especially female criminals, have fewer kids, not necessarily less intelligent persons:

Children of criminal parents have a greater chance of becoming criminals themselves: study

This transfer was the strongest from mothers to daughters, followed by mothers to sons, fathers to daughters and then fathers to sons.

    https://phys.org/news/2017-11-children-criminal-parents-greater-chance.html

The MAOA gene is X-linked meaning that women carry two copies of it and either have two copies of the low-activity or high-activity allelic variant of the gene, or one copy of each. Men only carry one copy; either the high- or low-activity version of MAOA.

What this also means is that only mothers can pass on the different variants of MAOA to their sons, whereas both mothers and fathers each pass on one copy of MAOA to their daughters.

So, unless the women, e.g. wives, concubines, female slaves, etc., Genghis Khan had offspring with also carried at least one copy of low-activity MAOA, Genghis Khan’s sons could not have been carriers of the “warrior gene”, but all his daughters would be carriers of his “warrior gene”.

The most effective way to reduce crime would be to sterilize repeat offenders.

“Roe v. Wade” Must Include Abortion Access for Women In Prison

    https://www.bitchmedia.org/article/roe-v-wade/abortion-in-prison

This judge is a very wise man:

Judge to inmates: Get sterilized and I’ll shave off jail time

Under a standing order issued by General Sessions Judge Sam Benningfield, inmates in White County, Tenn., can receive 30 days’ credit toward their jail time if they volunteer for vasectomies or contraceptive implants, as NewsChannel 5 reported Thursday.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2017/07/21/judge-to-inmates-get-sterilized-and-ill-shave-off-jail-time/

Information about the 32 women and 38 men who have so far taken Benningfield up on his offer was not immediately available. But data from the White County area provided to The Outline by the Tennessee Department of Health shows that the majority of adults dependent on illegal or controlled substances there are poor, white, and addicted to opioids. These are people who, according to Benningfield, are “allowing life to just happen to them” and need to “take responsibility.” This, too, is reminiscent of 20th-century American eugenics programs, said Stern. “One of the key ways the eugenics movement got going was with studies of families who were presented as unruly and not upstanding, a main one being the Jukes,” a pseudonymous clan of rural whites described in an 1877 study by sociologist Richard L. Dugdale as inbred degenerates whose hundreds of members placed an unacceptable burden on taxpayers. Social scientists would go on to use the Jukes’ supposedly genetic idiocy to justify decades of eugenic programs. “Those representations are quite similar to the way opioid users are represented now. There are a lot of similarities to the type of rhetoric that was used in the eugenic era,” Stern said.

The Yellow Jacket middle class middle aged revolt appears to be leaderless and does not seem to have any specific list of demands. The fuel tax might be the last thing the government did to upset people. The problem with the protest is things have progressed far from the point of an easy solution. The debt, immigration, and low birthrates of the past 20 yrs are unprecedented and probably cannot be painlessly negated. The Yellow Jacket protect might have worked to stop the Libya war but now it is way too late in the game. I don’t have a good suggestion.

A massive tax on wealth and/or renunciation of government debt with a reduction of old age benefits might address the debt issue and make more resources available to family formation, but the masses of immigrants will also take advantage of that and form families, possibly in greater numbers than the indigenous French. Alternatively, you could use the tax money to rebuild destroyed cities, perhaps giving preference to returning immigrants but I don’t see massive taxes and austerity measures in France to rebuild Syria/Libya/… being popular or even possible.

But it is also unclear if the Yellow Jacket protests will continue and get more violent. A person predictably died in a roadway accident. Blocking traffic implies you are willing to die for your cause. It is definitely, a major escalation from standing on the side of the roadway waving signs.

The media works so hard to tell us that what is right in front of our face is not true because it reflects poorly on groups that have been designated our moral superiors because they are historically oppressed. The left often chalks up the rise of Trump and nationalist politics to hatred and fear on the part of the electorate, but it’s more of a reaction to the realization that their political and cultural masters are lying to them. Rather than examine how they could regain the trust of the people that have deserted them, they just double down on the accusations that the non-believers are morally unfit to have a say in national politics.

Simple pro tip: don’t approach cops with a weapon and if cops have their guns drawn, drop to a prone position and do exactly as ordered. If that’s too complicated then the world is certainly better off without you in it.

Late to the party, but it haven’t seen it often noted, so i’ll go ahead:

One of the notable things–and no doubt a factor in Trump’s election–was how poorly Obama lived up to good white expectations in lowering the racial temperature.

The interaction of black men and cops is one of those areas, where Obama could have done some good. We could have done a speech, targetted at the black community which attempted to do this. I won’t write it, but it would have hit a few key points:

    – cops messing with you isn’t like someone else messing with you
It’s the cops’ *job* to get in other people’s businness–your business–if someone is acting weird or simply if they are called; that’s what we pay them to do

    – the cops can not “back off” or “back down”
Again we pay them to re-establish “order” and to do that they take control. So if you don’t comply there’s going to be trouble.

    – just do what the cops say, comply and you can fight your battle–say your piece, explain what was really going down and do it much more effectively–in court

(This “comply with the cops”–and save it for court–was one of the first pieces of advice i gave my son on reaching driving–and trouble making age.)

Obama didn’t have to sound like a school marm or “Uncle Tom”. He could have couched this all in “racism”
    – yes there is racism
    – yes there are racist cops
    – we want you to engage and be “activists” fighting the system
    but …
you can’t do it getting yourself killed. You gotta be alive to fight the fight.

But rather than give fatherly advice that would actually help black men and lower the racial temperature, when this nonsense got going Obama was–”could have been my son” and “racism”. So we got a bunch of dead cops, thousands more dead blacks and–God be Praised!–Trump.

A local urban studies student discovered with demographic data and GPS technology that over half of crimes happen in areas where there are blacks. He has been called a racist, expelled and told he should not come back.
When asked about this the Dean said,”Science isn’t about facts leading to conclusions. We give you the conclusions beforehand.”

Gray, having been told repeatedly to stay put, was cuffed by the police officer driving the paddy wagon and placed on the floor of the van, horizontal. It appears he attempted to stand up and tumbled over backward into a metal protrusion.

The person you’re thinking of was Eric Garner on Staten Island. Garner was subject to an ordinary police tackle after being contumacious with some officers. He later had a heart attack and died. The man actually was a morbidly obese diabetic and had an unanticipated reaction to being tackled.

Obama was convinced that the reason he got a fair number of speeding tickets was police racism. His staffers tended to think it was because he drove fast.

I remarked to a friend that the 11 people killed in the bar in California was just a weekend in July in Chicago.

Thank you for clarifying. I cannot keep all the uppity Negroes straight amongst the recent windfall of them, which goes to reinforce how important (and easy) it is for The Man to have you think of them all as something they were not (martyrs) and to have the least offensive of them foremost in people’s minds.

About sterilisation? The more the better.

About “Super Dad”? Needs to hit the weights, hard.

    Or perhaps it’s something genetic?

I was born in the early 1950s and heard many, many people born in the 1920s express such sentiments. They often came up in the course of admonitions to get an education so that you wouldn’t be a ditch-digger.

Just in case there is any confusion, I believe that everyone’s work is important and deserves dignity.
