From the Los Angeles Times:

Second body found in West Hollywood home of Democratic donor Ed Buck
By RICHARD WINTON and HAILEY BRANSON-POTTS, JAN 07, 2019 | 5:45 PM

A man’s body was found early Monday in the West Hollywood home of prominent Democratic donor Ed Buck, authorities said.

It was the second time a man was found dead at Buck’s apartment. Buck is a longtime political donor, a one-time West Hollywood City Council candidate and a well-known figure in LGBTQ political circles. ..

The dead man’s name has not been released, but Nicole Nishida, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Department, said he was black.

Buck previously was investigated for the death of another black man, the 2017 overdose of Gemmel Moore, 26.

Buck was present for the deaths of both men, the Sheriff’s Department said Monday.

Buck’s attorney, Seymour Amster, said Buck was not arrested and is cooperating with investigators.

“From what I know, it was an old friend who died of an accidental overdose, and unfortunately, we believe that the substance was ingested at some place other than the apartment,” Amster said. “The person came over intoxicated.”

… Moore’s mother, LaTisha Nixon of Texas, and his friends questioned whether Buck’s ties to elected officials and differences in race and class influenced the investigation and whether the drugs that killed him were self-administered.

Moore had been homeless and had worked as an escort. Buck, 64, is white.

The coroner ruled Moore’s death an accident, and an initial review by sheriff’s deputies found nothing suspicious. But the following month, homicide detectives launched a new investigation.

Prosecutors this summer declined to file charges against Buck, citing insufficient evidence, according to court records.

… The Times reviewed pages of a journal that authorities said was found among Moore’s possessions. In it, Moore purportedly wrote in 2016 about using crystal methamphetamine.

“I’ve become addicted to drugs and the worst one at that,” Moore purportedly wrote. “Ed Buck is the one to thank, he gave me my first injection of chrystal [sic] meth.”

The entry continues: “I just hope the end result isn’t death…. If it didn’t hurt so bad I’d kill myself but I’ll let Ed Buck do it for now.”

As Lady Bracknell would say, “To lose one gay black prostitute may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose two looks like carelessness.”

I think she should say, “… to lose two bespeaks of carelessness,” but maybe Oscar Wilde knows what’s funniest?

One crib death is a tragedy, two is suspicious, three is murder. Isn’t West Hollywood roughly 40% homosexual according to the census bureau?

Stories like this are depressingly boring since they’re so typical of the dysfunctional elements that cause them. “Drug addict dies of overdose” kind-of-thing.

  6. Requiem for a Dream California-style. Is Buck friends with Bonnie Frank?

  7. Anon[229] • Disclaimer says:

The phrasing of the article is so curious:

    Second body found

    A man’s body was found

Why the passive voice? Found by whom? Why refer to the deceased as “body.”

Buck was present for the deaths of both men.

So Buck found the body? Buck was watching as the men died? Is so, does that count as found? Or just being present? Was Buck present but another person the finder?

This would be a normal way to write this article:

Man dies in apartment of Democratic donor; second death in two years

A young black man died early Monday in the apartment of prominent Democratic donor Ed Buck. Buck found the unnamed man unresponsive and called 911. The man was declared dead by paramedics who arrived at the scene.

Buck is cooperating with investigators, but has retained an attorney, who described the deceased as an old friend of Buck’s who arrived at Buck’s apartment having overdosed on a drug at another location.

A year and a half ago a young black homeless man who worked as a gay escort died in Buck’s apartment after an overdose of crystal meth. Although ruled an accident by a coroner’s panel, sheriff’s homicide detectives opened an investigation. Prosecutors ultimately declined to file charges, citing insufficient evidence.

  11. From Ed Buck’s wikipedia page… International Gay Rodeo, Ayn Rand. The last sentence is jarring.

Buck came out as a gay man at the age of 16.[2] He changed his surname from Buckmelter to Buck in 1981[1] or 1983.[2] He was the Grand Marshal of the 1989 International Gay Rodeo.[2] He was influenced by Ayn Rand.[3] Buck formerly lived near Piestewa Peak in Phoenix, Arizona.[3] He has lived in West Hollywood, California, since 1991.[2]

On July 27, 2017, a male escort named Gemmell Moore died in his apartment.[10][11][12] Paramedics found Moore naked on a mattress in the living room with a “male pornography movie playing on the television,” according to a Los Angeles County coroner’s report.[13] A spokesman for the coroner’s office, Ed Winter, said Buck was inside his Laurel Avenue home at the time of Moore’s death and that drug paraphernalia was recovered from the scene.[14] Police found sex toys, syringes and “clear plastic bags with suspected methamphetamine in a tool box roll-cabinet in the living room,” 24 syringes with brown residue, five glass pipes with white residue and burn marks, a plastic straw with possible white residue, clear plastic bags with white powdery residue and a clear plastic bag with a “piece of crystal-like substance.” [13] The death was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and prosecutors declined to charge Buck on July 26, 2018.[15] On January 7, 2019, another man was reported dead at Buck’s Laurel Avenue address[16].

This strikes me as quite depressing.

    Probably.

  14. Ed Buck’s defense attorney compares critics of Ed Buck to… wait for it…. Donald Trump!

West Hollywood is a pretty nice neighborhood, but I imagine its City Council is just an awful place.

  15. istevefan says:

OT – Another deception from the December 2017 Alabama special Senate election is being admitted to today. Apparently Moore was smeared last year as supporting a total ban on alcohol in Alabama. The NY Times reports that:

The “Dry Alabama” Facebook page, illustrated with stark images of car wrecks and videos of families ruined by drink, had a blunt message: Alcohol is the devil’s work, and the state should ban it entirely.

Along with a companion Twitter feed, the Facebook page appeared to be the work of Baptist teetotalers who supported the Republican, Roy S. Moore, in the 2017 Alabama Senate race. “Pray for Roy Moore,” one tweet exhorted.

In fact, the Dry Alabama campaign, not previously reported, was the stealth creation of progressive Democrats who were out to defeat Mr. Moore — the second such secret effort to be unmasked.

The article basically explains this away as something progessives had to do since the GOP is doing it anyway. And they suggest that since the expenditure was such a tiny fraction of the $51 million race, it had no material effect. Further, people already had all the information they needed on Moore, and thus were not going to be influenced one way for another.

That response sounds an awful lot like what we have been saying about the 2016 presidential race. The supposed Russian influence was too small to materially measure in a multi-billion dollar race, and that everyone knew who Trump and Hillary were so their minds were already made.

Funny how the media and establishment are willing to let bygones be bygones in Alabama, but have spent two-plus years, with no end in sight, continually challenging the 2016 election even though by their standards no votes were changed.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6567071/SECOND-man-dies-apparent-overdose-apartment-prominent-white-Democratic-donor-Ed-Buck.html

“Protests have erupted outside the home of a wealthy Democratic donor in California, after a second man died there in 18 months.

More than 100 people gathered at the house of Edward Buck in West Hollywood on Monday night to demand the activist be arrested.

Buck – a regular donor to Democratic campaigns including Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid – was investigated for a suspected murder when Gemmel Moore, 26, was found dead of a meth overdose in July 2017.

The retired donor was again interviewed by police yesterday after another black man, in his 50s, died in his presence although the cause is not yet known.

Jasmyne Cannick, a public affairs strategist who has worked with Gemmel Moore’s family, said the DA and Sheriff’s Department ‘have blood on their hands’ for failing to properly investigate the donor.

Cannick alleged that Buck lures men to his apartment with promises of cash and injects them with crystal meth for his own sexual gratification, although the claims are as yet unproven.

‘This was preventable. We knew he hadn’t stopped, that it was only a matter of time before this happened again. And now it’s only a matter of time before it happens a third time if he’s not stopped,’ she said. “

I’m no expert, but I presume in the gay world the drugs are all part of the experience – “chemsex”, and it’s all in the open. AFAIK the allegations against Cosby are that drinks like coffee were drugged so the alleged victims unwittingly took them.

Although taking a look at the many Cosby accusations, there are quite a few where the women have been offered and accepted pills like Quaaludes along with alcohol. It must have been a terrible shock to find that the famous star whose hotel room you’re in, drinking and taking pills, was after sex all along.

  75. Oh, so very fortunate for white America that after decades of debauchery instigated by Frankfurt school types who immigrated to this country, the Asian immigrants have arrived bringing with them the more ancient caste system. Caste, at least in part, will be determined by who you’ve had sex with as well as where you went to college. Those who embrace debauchery will be relegated to an inferior position in society. Although there will be allowances made for those with great ability and/or wealth. Women will be especially impacted in the new society as it is much more old-world than new and as the strategy is utilized mostly to guarantee status for beta males with average IQs and blah personalities.

In the meantime, in a community near you, someone’s 6 year old is embracing transgenderism. This of course will not have an implications for their future sex lives or even how young they are when they have their first sexual encounter. No, the Asian caste system will reign supreme. Today’s trannies will be tomorrow’s denizens of ghettos where elites who live double lives go for prostitutes and drugs. It’ll be a lot like Victorian England…

Buck probably gets off on watching guys die or almost die of drug overdose.

At least he doesn’t torture them to death something that is not uncommon in Gay male circles.

Gay chat board Datalounge has some juicy deets: “That complex has been a middle class drug den for as long as I can remember. I assume the main ahem benefactor has passed away by now, as he was in his late 80s when I was partying there 2008-ish. But his son or grandson may have taken over for him. I’ve told you about this guy before. Former alphabet agent who took the fall for something that happened on an island and was paid off with monthly suitcases of virgin blow. RDJ would stop by, not infrequently. This guy was also the “manager” of the apartment complex and I don’t think there was a single tenant who wasn’t strung out. I knew of a few who completely split town because they were losing their fucking minds with the nonstop drugs and had no where to get away from the endless party.”

Although taking a look at the many Cosby accusations, there are quite a few where the women have been offered and accepted pills like Quaaludes along with alcohol. It must have been a terrible shock to find that the famous star whose hotel room you’re in, drinking and taking pills, was after sex all along.

This is interesting, because it was my perception that Cosby partied in the 1970s and into the 1980s in a scene in which party drugs like Quaaludes were unremarkable and girls getting chemically “relaxed” before sex was nothing out of the ordinary. The times changed under him like an unseen current, and perhaps his administration of the party drugs became more surreptitious as they became less ordinary as party favors (and his fame and looks faded). But it’s just not credible to me that women had no idea that “come up from the bar to my hotel room at 1:30 A.M. for a nightcap and a chat” is a fairly obvious invitation to an assignation.

I think Cosby was targeted by TPTB for telling blacks to be responsible for themselves. Sure, maybe he was a pig; a lot of them were at the Playboy mansion in the 70s. But I find it suspicious how few blacks defended him.

The second man, Timothy Dean was a salesman at Beverly Hills Saks. He worked in the men’s department and what with $25.00 an hour, commission weekend differential overtime made about $80,000 a year.Gemmel Moore wasn’t homeless. He lived with his mother in Los Angeles. His mother doesn’t live in Texas.

Timothy’s friends and o workers at Saks say he didn’t do drugs and drank very moderately. He jogged in Runyon canyon most mornings. He came to work every day socialized with co workers and was never under the influence of anything with co workers. Timothy was a big Gus about 6’3” medium build. Must have taken a lot of whatever to kill him.

The blacks are trying to make another Trayvon out of this. But I guess gay trumps black.

A big LBGQ service is scheduled in Los Angeles. Timothy’s conservative Florida family is here and feeling squeamish about the facts of gay sex. A lot of very wealthy 60ish White men were good friends of Timothy
