“Getting to Denmark” is a phrase coined by political philosopher Francis Fukuyama to denote a good goal for most countries around the world: becoming a stable, nice End of History country like Denmark. But as I have often pointed out, history hasn’t ended in Denmark, which in the 21st Century has taken the lead, since the 2001 election, in working to be Staying Denmark by not letting itself be overwhelmed by immigration fraudsters who have the goal of Getting to Denmark personally, by hook or by crook.

From the New York Times:

Denmark Plans to Isolate Unwanted Migrants on a Small Island
By Martin Selsoe Sorensen, Dec. 3, 2018

COPENHAGEN — Denmark plans to house the country’s most unwelcome foreigners in a most unwelcoming place: a tiny, hard-to-reach island that now holds the laboratories, stables and crematory of a center for researching contagious animal diseases.

As if to make the message clearer, one of the two ferries that serve the island is called the Virus.

“They are unwanted in Denmark, and they will feel that,” the immigration minister, Inger Stojberg, wrote on Facebook.

On Friday, the center-right government and the right-wing Danish People’s Party announced an agreement to house as many as 100 people on Lindholm Island — foreigners who have been convicted of crimes and rejected asylum seekers who cannot be returned to their home countries. …

This summer, a ban on face coverings was introduced and quickly nicknamed “the burqa ban” as it followed a debate on the Islamic garment seen by some as “un-Danish.” This month, Parliament is expected to pass legislation requiring immigrants who want to obtain citizenship to shake hands with officials as part of the naturalization ceremony — though some Muslims insist that they cannot shake hands with someone of the opposite sex.

The government contends that hand shakes are “a basic Danish value.”

    OT:

    The BBC is outraged that a mentally ill Utah man won’t face hate crime charges for assaulting a Mexican after he announced he was going to kill a Mexican.

    According to county records, Mr Covington faces eight charges, including two felony counts of aggravated assault on top of drug and weapon charges.
    But under a much-debated Utah state law, only misdemeanour-level crimes can be charged as hate crimes, not more serious felony offences.
    “Whether this was a hate crime or not is not even an issue for me to bring to the table – I don’t have a statute that allows me to do it,” Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill told the BBC.
    “The state has abdicated its responsibility for the last 20 years – that’s why there’s never been a hate crime prosecuted at the state level.”
    County Police Detective Greg Wilking told the Tribune it appears Mr Covington had “some mental health issues” and had taken drugs before the assault.

    Seems like they can pretty much do whatever they want in terms of a sentence. Eight serious charges aren’t enough??

    Meanwhile, a ND psycho planned to kill Trump with a forklift:

    Public defender Michelle Ann Monteiro told the court that Leingang was “suffering a serious psychiatric crisis” during the forklift incident and has been responding well to psychiatric treatment and therapy in prison, according to the Bismarck Tribune.

    No one calling for hate crime there. Most of the WP commenters shared their sympathy for his attempt.

    To the extent that Danish People’s Party pressure since the early 2000s is responsible for the relatively good news that only 10% of babies being born today in Denmark are Non-European (the same rate presumably a lot higher in neighboring states of Sweden and of course Krazy Merkel’s Germany; the same figure is hovering near 50% non-white births in the USA), I ask:

    With no Danish People’s Party on the scene (say, if a Danish judge banned the party for racism in 2002), what % of births would be to Non-Europeans today?

And since they’re a bunch of cowardly, worthless chumps, who give away everything and demand nothing, we figure that’s the way to approach the Muslim issue. This whole sharing a language thing is getting real old, fast, because it means they can still exert significant soft power over the U.S. and Canada. Although Canada doesn’t seem to mind too much.

    Nonsense. So what? What is to be gained by destroying them now? Africa depends entirely on aid and assistance from the West. If you bring down Whites, Africans will not survive. Blacks in White countries also very heavily depend on welfare paid for by the White taxpayers. The slaves from Africa were caught and sold by other Africans as part of tribal warfare. Those not sold would have been killed. The descendants of slaves in America would never have existed if their ancestors had not escaped Africa as slaves, and they live much better than any black people anywhere. Arabs took more than 10x the amount of slaves from Africa during the same time period, but there is no African descendants in those countries because the men were all castrated, and the women who became pregnant had their babies killed at birth. But nobody suggests that Arab countries all need to be destroyed as punishment.

    These kind of statements like what you said are just the result of envy and jealousy. Or an excuse for extortion to get some benefits, while at the same time preserving your pride.

    Bringing down White people is like killing the goose that lays the golden egg. Once the goose is dead, the gold will be gone.

    Not to be rude, but the reality is that blacks are like parasites or at best children. You can’t survive in a civilized manner without Whites. If Western countries collapse, the heat, electricity, food supplies will collapse, then blacks will just kill each other. Don’t imagine that Chinese will save you. We are probably working on a biological genetic weapon to wipe out blacks.

    Be careful what you wish for, you might get it. Your false pride, envy, and ignorance will be your undoing.

    an ethnicly homogenous Christian country

    It’s strange how Fukuyama’s Denmark Ideal can be used to justify a huge range of policies, from:

    (1) Radical racial separatism/nationalism (Denmark as the product of centuries and millennia of historical development with an ethnocultural core from which it cannot be separated; ergo it is immoral NOT to guard Denmark’s homogeneity), to

    (2) Soft Imperialism or neo-colonization schemes (that we must export Denmark’s institutions to the Diverse masses of the globe; that to NOT do would be immoral), to

    (3) Magic Dirt Multiculturalism (that the Diverse billions of the globe all have a right to access/proximity to White, NW-European people, from which they would absorb Magic Dirt and Magic Air and become NW Europeans; that to deny them this right is immoral).

    The center of elite opinion today is approximately: three parts (2) funneled through global capitalism and NGOs (never under the auspices of a state); one part (3); and prison for any White advocates of (1).

    -> The Western Elites do not interact with unskilled/illegals migrants in their daily lives. Even the few lower-skilled migrants they encouter – like waiters in hi-end restaurants- are orderly/disciplined.

    -> They live in quarters where you only find the usual highly educated non-European migrants.

    -> Their children attend schools/colleges, where diversity works, because everyone there comes from hi-class background.

    -> Even older elites (50 years and older) attended schools with non-European elites. This is now nearly a century-old.

    -> Elites, who do visit developing countries, move from fancy new airports to upscale hotels with all amneties. After that it’s straight into fancy business-centers in the capital. They might see poverty along the roads, but it’s not that crushing poverty in the provinces/rural/remote regions.

    TLDR: Do not expect the elites to change their perception, they don’t know jack.

    -> The key for Western nationalists is the highly competent upper-mid-rank elite. Like the police-chief of a major city, the former manager of a MNC in a developing country. These people are not completely isolated from diversity, while at the same time they are needed to keep things running.

    e.g. These upper-mid-rank officials in the Communist China/Russia/Vietnam knew how good life is in the West, how far the West was ahead. Without their support people like Gorbatschow/Deng Xiaopeng/Van Linh couldn’t have pushed through their reform-agenda.

    Not if Germany dissolves itself politically. The most obvious successor is a reconstituted German Democratic Republic. It would have up to a 30% AfD national legislature if elections were held today.

    Plausible election outcome in reconstituted German Federal Republic today:
    - AfD 30%
    - CDU 25%
    - NeoCommunist ‘Linke’ Party 20% (stable support, 1980s [i..e, regime] to present)
    - Others 25%

    = CDU chooses to either let AfD rule or side with Muslims, Communists. East German CDU chooses AfD. Repatration incentives for Merkel Muslims shoved onto Chemnitz and the like begin.

    = of the parents of this age cohort were NOT born in Sweden [a]+[b]+([c]/2), of which around 9% are Westerners (if same ratio as Denmark). The number of ‘third generation migrants’ (e.g., baby with four Somali grandparents, two Sweden-born parents) being born Sweden remains low but the way the government presents the statistics conceals what there is; it may nudge up the number a percent or two. Non-European racial stock most likely accounted for 22-23% of Swedish newborns in 2017.

    Comparable figure for Denmark is 10% (see here again). The magnitude of the hit from the Merkel Wave and previous migrant-welcome policies is seen more in the older cohorts:

    2017

    Age 33 (age 34 in 2018, for direct comparison to Denmark’s same-age cohort)
    [a] 41,764 Foreign born
    [b] 4,946 Born in Sweden with two foreign born parents
    [c] 8,931 Born in Sweden with one parent born in Sweden and one foreign born parent
    [d] 73,613 Born in Sweden with two parents born in Sweden
    = 39.6% of the parents of this age cohort were NOT born in Sweden [a]+[b]+([c]/2), of which around 12% may be Westerners if in the same ratio as Denmark’s, but likely a lower ratio, given Sweden’s disproportionate hit from Merkel Muslims. ‘Third generation migrants’ will not be an issue with people born circa 1984 (this age cohort). In sum: Non-European racial stock accounted for circa 29-30% of Swedish residents age 33 in 2017 following the Merkel hit of 2015-2016.

    Comparable figure for Denmark is 16%.

    (From dataset: “Number of persons with foreign or Swedish background (detailed division) by region, age and sex. Year 2002 – 2017,” Statistics Sweden)

    Government policy really does have an impact: Denmark’s population burden of Non-Europeans has definitely declined relative to Sweden’s so this is not just a Tweet First and Do Nothing Later case like Donald ‘Do Nothing’ Trump; comparing the total-resident Denmark vs. Sweden b.1984 cohorts with the b.2017-18 cohorts, we see a definite divergence.

    Denmark has softened the blow and only 10% of its newborns are Non-European as of today. Sweden is up to a 25% Non-European newborn burden — if not already, then soon. This could reverse itself, but only if the Danish People’s Party-like Sweden Democrats win (or, had won in Sept 2018, when they officially took 18% of seats; they needed 30%+ to realistically deliver an impact). There was documented ‘election meddling’ against the Sweden Democrats (polling-station irregularities, tricks, failure to provide a secret ballot, and etc., point to organized voter-intimidation, and effective disenfranchisement of would-be Sweden Democrats voters).

    That is the difference between Sweden and Denmark. For geographic and historical reasons, the Swedes have no fear of invasion, and so feel free to engage in risky social engineering projects that will probably weaken and divide their country. (The same is true of Britain and the U.S.) The Danes have long experience of being invaded and so are far more cautious about these things.

    Denmark is a tiny country: I’ve taken a train from Copenhagen to Aalborg, which is near the tip of the Jutland peninsula, a trip that covers DK from the east to the northwest, that lasted about eight hours. 100 Muslim and African migrants can do a lot of damage in that small and placid country.

  70. For an American, one of the interesting things about Scandinavia politically is this weird trope of young male “liberal” “intellectuals–often Jewish–trotting over there and
    – deciding it’s paradise with livable cities full of all these young blonds who smile at them
    – proceeding to lecture us on how we need to copy X,Y and Z of the Scandi model
    … but showing absolutely no clue
    – why Scandivanian nations are/were nice
    – why the US isn’t like Scandinavia
    and
    – advocating polices that make us less and less capable of being anything like Scandinavia.

    ~~~
    Unfortunately for the Scandinavians they swallowed enough minoritarian propaganda from the US to set about destroying themselves and becoming “un-nice” in ways very familiar to “diverse” and “nation of immigrants” US.
    For us this means that the lefty lectures about wonderful Scandinavia have thinned out a little bit.
    What’s the alternative? Christianity is dead. That leaves us with liberalism as the de facto state religion. Which is fine if you think the core values of western civilisation should be feminism, homosexual marriage, transgenderism, hedonism, promiscuity, pornography and consumerism.
    Another interesting aspect of this sort of propaganda is, that you will not be upheld as an example anymore, after you have headed their advice. I call it the progressive paradox: you start with a nice place, that is nice, because you have not headed their advice before. Then, when you first implement their proposals, you first get a lot of praise. Eventually, things turn to hell, because progressives have no idea about human nature and a tendency to side with bad behavior/bad people. Now that the negative results of progressive policies are obvious in your csse, you cede to be a role model and a new shining example has to be found. For instance Sweden was held up as a shining example by progressives for decades. Now that their refugee policy has made them the rape capital of the western world, Denmark is the new example. This shift was very sudden: I remember Bernie sanders talking about Sweden in 2016.
    Denmark is the new example
    FWIW, Fukuyama popularized the phrase “Getting to Denmark” in his 2011 Origins of Political Order. He didn’t come up with the idea to use ‘Denmark,’ to push this concept, out of thin air, of course; therefore the pro-Denmark vein of center-left punditry is at latest a 2000s-era one.
    In general, my impression is that the term “Scandinavian” has been used considerably more in U.S. discourse of this kind than either “Sweden” or “Denmark” (or Norway, or Finland) specifically.
    Sweden doesn’t seem like “a normal country.” It seems like an extreme or polar case on a number of dimensions. Sweden often tries to be seen as the most X country of whatever X is. Compared to Sweden, Denmark is seen as less extreme, more normal. It also helps that nobody in America knows much about the history of Denmark other than a few colorful figures like Queen Christina, Hans Christian Andersen, Kierkegaard, and Bohr. So it’s easy for us ignorant Americans to assume it must have had a “normal” history.
    Probably the second most normal country in this regard is Netherlands, but its history is better known to Americans. Belgium is too divided and too artificial in origin. Norway is too on the fringe and has too much scenery. Switzerland is like a more successful Belgium at being multicultural. Austria is stuck with Hitler. Ireland’s history is too famous.The Czech Republic would probably rank high in normality, if not for its Communist era. Finland is too fringe. Slovenia is a pretty normal country for one that was sort of behind the Iron Curtain. I think Charles “True Grit” Portis wrote a portrait of Slovenia in the 1980s as the most European place an American can come across.
    So, top contenders for normal countries:
    Denmark
    Netherlands
    Slovenia
    Czechia
    Hungary
    Slovakia
    Part of I think what you mean is also that there is virtue in being in the thick of things but also being too small to have gained historical baggage as a threat to anyone.
    This is also, it seems to me, the source of South Korea’s recent soft-power rise. It looks less likely that China will repeat the same rise: Too many people are frightened of the Chinese behemoth squashing them, colonizing them. Little to no historical baggage for South Korea for its cultural fans in SE Asia and etc.
    Christianity is dead
    Limp-wristed, liberal, social gospel Christianity is dying, but genuine Christianity not only lives, but is ascendant. The values you cite are not the values of Western Civilization, they are the values of Marxism, and its bastard child postmodernism.
    Devotees of liberalism do not have children. Islamists do, but when the adherents to Islam come to the West, the become as corrupt as any liberal. They too face declining birth rates. Islam is dying, just like liberalism.
    The interesting question is how much damage the death throes of both will inflict on the the rest of us. My assessment right now is the damage will be great.
    Steve, is it really possible that Americans have not heard of Tycho Brahe? The last of the naked eye astronomers, He was Keplers boss, had an artificial nose made of brass or gold, was exhumed twice, may have beaten Newton to calculus by a century, and his pet elk died falling down the stairs drunk.
    Piqued your interest?
    It’s likely that Shakespeare was going through a Tycho Brahe phase when he wrote “Hamlet.” For example, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are names of ancestors on Tycho’s coat of arms.
    “I could be bounded in a nutshell, and count myself a king of infinite space, were it not that I have bad dreams.”
    When Tom Stoppard directed his movie version of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, with Gary Oldman and Tim Roth, he was going through his Science phase and made the castle in Elsinore look like Tycho’s observatory.
