From the New York Times:

One Legacy of Merkel? Angry East German Men Fueling the Far Right

By Katrin Bennhold
Nov. 5, 2018

… As of 2015, she added, they also feel threatened by young male migrants, who do not necessarily live anywhere near them, but whose difficult journey proves they are everything eastern men are not — dynamic, determined and driven — “otherwise they would not have made it here in the first place.”

Also, let me offer a belated congrats to our own iSteve commenter Whiskey on his new job as Editor-in-Chief of the New York Times.

Why would unemployed or underemployed poor people be against people who might be reduce their chances of getting jobs, will likely reduce the resources destined to their welfare programs, might assault their wives or girlfriends if they go to work in Western Germany, are mostly fighting age men with scores to settle, and are likely to become part of the criminal underclass when they find out that living in Germany isn’t a free-for-all buffet?

Oh I know. They’re evil, lazy bastards who hate on the saintly, hard-working immigrants. The richer and more worldly part of Germany, can afford to lose them, since they’ll have cheap immigrant labor from the dynamic, driven and determined community, says privileged German woman who studied at Harvard and lives in London.

If they were actually “dynamic, determined and driven” they would stay and help fix the problems in their home countries, rather than run away and live off of welfare payments paid for by European taxpayers.

There’s a romanticized idea of immigrants being admirable or superior for trying to find a new life in a new country. I think comes from the time when America was thought to be an untamed, uncivilized wilderness. But there is no more wilderness in Europe or America. The wilderness today is in Syria, Central America, and Africa. The non-immigrants who stay behind and face the problems others run from are the admirable ones. Syrians who stay in Syria to rebuild that country are incomparably more admirable than those who flee.

Who is going to educate the children of Syria? Non-immigrants. Who is going to police the streets of Honduras? Non-immigrants. Who are the ones doing the hard work of making those countries great again? Non-immigrants.

  12. Lummard says:

“I didn’t risk my skin back then to become a third-class citizen,” said Mr. Dehmel, now 57, counting off the perceived hierarchy on his fingers: “First there are western Germans, then there are asylum seekers, then it’s us.”

In the end this is what it’s all about. Rich, worldly, educated elites set up a system that rewards rich, worldly, educated elites. Then they find immigrants to import for cheap labor. The old native working class is left behind, and rich elites do absolutely nothing for them, instead telling them to go eat cakes/”learn to code”. The old working class realize that they’re getting shafted, and rightly blame the rich elites and the cheap labor immigrants.

Cheap labor immigrants are overwhelmingly male and young, and also unruly, violent, often criminal, so clashes happen. The rich elites call the old native working class evil and racist. Eventually a party which represents the old working class emerges, and it’s also called evil and racist.

This is the pattern pretty much everywhere in Europe. In the US this is slightly different, because there’s a black benefit class that is coddled by the rich elite to atone for previous racism, which doesn’t see immigrants as a threat because they’re too busy hating on “wypipo”. But the dynamic is the same for the white working class.

What’s funny is that the educated, worldly, rich elite often produces over-educated morons who think that they’re the real “working people” and “socialists” because their degrees in uselessness lead them to a life of Starbucks work, and who think that bringing in more cheap labor for the rich elites to use is also “socialism”.

For all the ranting and raving about “capitalism” on the left, they’re often the ones who are on the side of the rich elites and the big corporations.

Females are significantly more likely to hold negative attitudes toward Muslims compared to males. Female gender increases the likelihood of holding such attitudes by a factor of 1.15, net of other determinants. Results confirm the revised gender hypothesis (hypothesis 2) that women are more likely than men to hold negative attitudes toward immigrants who are perceived to be illiberal. […]Are men more likely than women to hold anti-immigrant attitudes, as classic gender theories predict? Results provide no evidence that men are more xenophobic than women. To the contrary, in certain cases, women are found to be more xenophobic than men. Specifically, women are consistently more likely to exhibit negative attitudes toward Muslim immigrants.

    https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/2378023117729970
Not only were females more against muslim migrants than males, but also more against different-race migrants, but to a non-significant degree.

    Also,

Against the backdrop of attitude research, women’s votes for the AfD are not surprising. This research has shown for several years that women support elements of so-called group-focused enmity just as much as men. In recent years they have been more inclined to »xenophobia,« racism and Islamophobia than men (Küpper/Zick 2011: 187-210). In the most recent survey conducted in 2016, support for priority rights for established persons was signi cantly more widespread among women than among men.

This is definitely true in America, though it comes from a cynical, sociopathic elite that sees people in strictly utilitarian terms and knows to exploit a mythos to the hilt. (This is largely what leftism is about, in terms of process – pervert good into bad; exploit virtue and make it pathology)

It’s time for the American mythos to transition from the heroism of exploring, conquering, and building, to the heroism of defending; to the heroism of crushing the enemies and traitors in our midst.

I don’t have to talk with blacks or read polls on what they think about immigration because I can look at what they actually did, which is far more revealing. When they had the chance to vote for a guy who openly promised to crack down on illegal immigration and reform, i.e. reduce, legal immigration, blacks voted 90% for some old harpy White lady who openly praised massive immigration.

Yeah, these migrant men are determined and driven enough to take what they want: German territory, German women, German welfare checks. The mistake that those awful horrible terrible men in East Germany voting for AfD make is that the vast majority of them won’t rape, won’t steal, won’t lie to the government to get whatever they want. Yep. Immigrating to America in the 1600s and 1700s meant leaving some of the richest countries on earth, crossing a dangerous ocean to get here, and arriving in a wilderness where little or nothing had yet been built, and having little if any welfare state to fall back on if you were sick, stupid, or lazy. Oh yeah, and then you had to deal with the natives, who often did a whole lot more than paint swastikas on your church door.

Today’s immigrants arrive in vans, buses, and jumbo jets. They have oodles of welfare to support them, often for the rest of their lives. The percentage of refugees who still don’t have jobs or are still on welfare a decade after arriving here is enormous. But let’s go into the bathroom and mastrubate to pictures of them and imagine that they’re so much better and braver han those awful *white* Puritans we love to demonize.

Early exit polls seem to indicate that Black turnout wasn’t much to boast about in 2018. Unless the Dems nominate Corey Booker or Kamala Harris, Black turnout will continue to decline in 2020. If the Dems do nominate Booker or Harris, look for “nationalist” White turnout to increase in 2020 in a way that the Dems will fail to appreciate in mathematical terms!

  49. It hurts, but it’s happening here – the mass immigration, the failures, the wrong ideas about what and why this is happening. – Just imagine a country, where most of the intellectual elite would prefer Ta Nehisi Coates over Steve Sailer, let’s say, and you know all you need to know.

    PS
It’s funny in a strange way, that big scale intellectual failures like the one I sketched above have an almost universal appeal in our part of the world. On a maybe a little bit lesser scale you could read one of the most distinct liberal voices, movie-critic Verena Lueken, in the FAZ last week about pre-mid-term-elections America. She said in this article, that the sudden death of Martin Luther King prevented America from – – – becoming a really just and fair nation…I mean – she sure is a lunatic, but maybe she is less lunatic than Ta Nehisi Coates. Unfortunately, I’d have to admit right away, that the two degrees of intellectual shallowness are different in a way, which in the end, might make not much of a difference at all.

So -it’s still funny in a strange way, that big scale intellectual failures like the one I sketched above have an almost universal appeal in the (western) world.

  50. One Legacy of Merkel? Angry East German Men Fueling the Far Right

This is an accurate depiction of events. What the progressives call “the Far-Right” is their own creation. It is the inevitable outcome of their relentless pushing. They will keep pushing the native working class, keep condemning them with accusations of racism, until the working class is backed into a corner and the names no longer intimidate them.

The Left is constantly on the offense. The Right mostly wants to be left alone. But the Left can’t leave the Right alone–not leaving the Right alone is its sole reason for being. The Left sees no end to the ways in which its societies must be deconstructed. As Karl Marx declared in the last paragraph of the Communist Manifesto, “The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions.”

There will always be additional eggs that need to be broken, but don’t hold your breath while waiting for the omelette.

  51. Talk to some people from western Germany sometime and hear what they think of Germans from the former East Germany. They are not huge fans, to say the least.

  53. Germany will be an interesting place over the next 20-30 years. Everyone here sees them as cucked, but I think that you might be misunderstanding the German mind.

You need to understand the German mentality and their situation. First, here are some fundamental attributes of the German mental make-up:

    1. Germans love rules and love order

    2. Germans are hopeless romantics. Yes, believe it or not, Germans are emotion-filled romantics. They hide it well, but it’s there under the surface. Indeed, part of the problem with Germans is that they’re not very good at dealing with their emotions. Unlike Italians who let out their emotions in small, controlled eruptions, the Germans hold them inside until they burst. Hell, just look at their composers.

    3. Germans are neurotic, easily prone to depression. (I can see why Jews felt at home in Germany.) Germans constantly fight against a mental blackness. What’s more, they are acutely aware of how easily their minds can pull them down.

    4. Germans are a very talented people, and they know it. They know they are better than everyone else.

Interestingly, when you put those attributes together, you get a people who are the world’s greatest followers. German are both utterly obedient to orders given but creative and energetic in carrying out those orders. (Please, I’m not talking about the Jewish Holocaust here, just general societal norms.)

    Why?

Because having a command, or even better a cause, gives them everything that they need:

    1. Rules and order
    2. A great cause to channel their romantic emotions
    3. Something to do so they aren’t left with their own mental darkness
    4. A way to show the world how awesome they are

So, let’s look at what orders that the Germans have been given since WWII. Germans have been told by their leaders that the need to rebuild Germany and atone for WWII. So, that’s what they did. Within ten years, West Germany was largely back on its feet. Ah, but the atonement for WWII never ends. In many ways, that was why the Germans pushed so hard for a united Europe. It was – and is – a way to rid themselves of being German. They could be European and finally be done with WWII.

Anyway, Germans are cucks because that’s what their leaders told them to be. And because they’re German, they’re going to be the best God-damn cucks in the world because that’s what Germans do: They follow orders better than anyone else.

But now you have the AfD. What happens if the orders change? What happens if the orders become “Save the German people”?

My point is that the situation in Germany could change faster than anywhere else because the Germans aren’t the world’s greatest cucks because they just really want to be cucks. They’re the world’s greatest cucks because those are their orders. What happens if in the minds of millions of Germans, the orders change?

To turn this around, we need to destroy the rampant consumerism, media empires, and economic system that employs White women — meaningless office work, HR etc. by replacing them with cheaper AI. And a “Green” status signaling / virtue signaling movement to buy as little as possible, recycle as much as one can “for the planet” etc. to destroy: infotainment, advertising, media etc.

Unfortunately, it is too late for most of the men who hoped to keep or replace their industrial jobs. The only real option is to pay them off and let them fade into history. The Former East Germany is the victim of a resource curse. Instead of free money from oil or gold, they got free money from the West, a really incredible amount.

This undermined their competitiveness compared to Czechs and Poles and Slovaks and Hungarians.

Meanwhile, the taxes on the West Germans to pay for the transfers to the East undermined the fertilty, homeownership rate, and savings rate in the West. Between 1990 and 2008, West Germans worked pretty hard, but saw their money flow elsewhere. Their resentment at their fellow Germans and the Spanish who saw rapidly increasing living standards during this period was probably fueled all by the one big mistake of trying to rapidly integrate the former East German economy.

I’m starting hate the term “cuck”. It’s basically transmogrified into “anything Internet spergs don’t like”.

  91. The author takes pleasure in portraying eastern German men as losers and cucks. If she said similar things about non-white men she would be fired and ostracized. It just further shows that the left is motivated by hatred and malice for whites, not social justice.

The left always sees nationalism as driven by people who have been left behind. You see that from the right as well, where sites like Breitbart can only express opposition to open borders in economic terms. Obviously that’s part of it, but missing from the equation is any sense of romanticism or sentimentality; of the desire for white community and culture and to be around people like yourself.

I watched some older movies where everyone at school was white and fit the all-American boy and girl next door ideal. I wish I could’ve had that as a kid growing up. I just wanted to be around other white people and not feel like a stranger in school or in the city. I also think that white women are by far the most beautiful women in the world. It’s that kind of appeal to emotion and love that is hard to articulate, but always inspired me much more than anything else.

But like I said, that sentiment is completely missing from the equation from both the left and the right. Even the alt-right can only express their nationalism in passionless, unromantic, psychopathic, and misanthropic appeals to inequality and elitism. And as I said, that never appealed to me and I don’t think it appeals to many others either.

What’s wrong with a smaller population? The idiots who think we need to sustain large populations are just fools. The term “Regelleistungsberechtigte im SGB II” refers to people who are entitled to and currently receiving the full benefits per the “Grundsicherung” — this basically means their entire life is financed by German taxpayers: housing, food, pocket money, etc — everything. Not only that, they are treated the same as any German, eg one who worked and paid into the system for 20+ years, but has fallen on hard times.

“Nichteuropäische Asylherkunftsländer umfassen: Afghanistan, Eritrea, Irak, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia und Syrien” — means people from the named countries — as seen, the number of these people living off the German taxpayer started rising in early 2015, then rose dramatically throughout 2016 and 2017, and has stayed at a high level since.

So much for ‘dynamic, determined, driven’.

I’m old enough to remember when dishwashers and line cooks in restaurants were black, often ex-cons because in those days, anyone could actually get those jobs if they were prepared to actually do them.

Blacks had these jobs, but they weren’t that good at them. My first full-time summer job was at 16 in a mobbed up restaurant on the Jersey Shore. I washed dishes and did food prep. The other dishwasher was a 40-something guy named Melvin, out from his latest stint, bone-lazy and mean as a snake. He saw me actually working hard and decided he would henceforth spend most of his time on smoke breaks or using the pay phone outside.

Restaurants today don’t really hire anyone but illegals for these jobs. They don’t want whites they can’t talk down to, and enough of them had experience with blacks that they were relieved not to have to hire them anymore.

Anthony Bourdain, world’s most famous cuck suicide, never stopped weeping about illegals and sneering at his fellow (white) citizens. This was cover. You just know that big mouth a-hole made some obnoxious comment to a brother in the kitchen and then found himself looking at a pissed-off sh*ne waving a greasy chef’s knife in his face.

Makes you wonder what the hell the Pilgrims were thinking.

Let this be a lesson to all you Anglos: next time you want to colonize a place, don’t go to some wilderness or some jungle. Make it a place that already has nice things.

So what if its population declines?

Right. A nation is not a number. If France had 10 million Frenchmen, it’d be France. If 20 million or 30 million, it’d be France. With 100 million, it’d be France. As long as most are real Frenchmen.

But Glob says France has such-and-such number right now, and that number must be maintained or else the nation will die!! So, foreigners must be brought in to keep the number constant.

So, if we fix the population of France at 70 million, the Glob says it will remain France if the foreigners make up 40 million and native Frenchmen make up 30 million.

It’s like determining a person’s identity by the money he has. So, if someone has 100,000, he is defined by that sum. And he MUST have that amount or else… he is no longer what he is. So, if he’s down to 50,000, he MUST BORROW 50,000 to maintain 100,000 to remain what he is. Ridiculous.

What I love about this obsession with ‘keeping the working age population stable’ is that the people who profess this always accuse those opposed of being ‘opposed to natural change’, yet it is the economic and financial interests who are opposed to natural change. They can’t tolerate any diminishment to their customer base or pressure to raise wages that they’d turn their own homelands and cities into giant Dubais. The economy will adapt, but that’s exactly what they don’t want because that adaptation might be disruption to their business models.

Populations go down as well as up. (Indeed they must at some point, ideally before they do so because the country in question has become so unattractive that people stop coming for that reason) Most of the people who seem to pretend not to notice this are currently from the generation known as the ‘Baby Boomers’.

Of the totality of human art, almost none of it (Certainly none of the ones anyone gives any weight to) celebrates the coveting of wealth over more immaterial considerations or sentiments.Yet when it comes to the nation, the progressive starts talking like Gordon Gecko.

Mira Sorvino’s German nanny was a Holocaust denier!

    https://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainment/movies/ct-ent-mira-sorvino-1112-story.html

When Mira Sorvino was 10 years old and her parents were in the hospital with her newborn brother, she finished reading “The Diary of Anne Frank” and burst out crying. Her German babysitter, Paula, heard her weeping and came to see what was wrong.

“I said, this is so terrible, all these lives just snuffed out. All this possibility just gone. This little girl was like me. And she said, ‘No, no, they’re all lying. Many more Germans died than Jews. Only 600,000, not 6 million,’” Sorvino recalled recently, with disbelief on her face. “I was 10, but I was old enough to know that what she was saying was wrong.”

She told her parents about the experience which, says the actress, is “burned into my memory, and made me committed to all these social-justice causes.” It also provided an early lesson in the importance of speaking out — something the 51-year-old Oscar-winner has come to be known for in the past year, since she went on the record to accuse film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and helped ignite the #MeToo movement.

It’s funny how that works. If we do certain things, it makes us deplorable. If migrant colonists do the same things multiplied by 100, it makes them vibrant, culturally diverse, and welcome.

Abrell deleted the tweet three days later after a former student wrote to him explaining she was offended and requesting he remove the image, said district spokesman Tom Hernandez.

Excellent comment that mostly sums up my own views.

Almost every country across globe needs massive depopulation since they are in an ecological overshoot meaning their ecological footprint exceeds biocapacity i.e. consumption exceeds renewable production and waste absorption; there’s also the separate issue of overcrowding. Even if we cut carbon-emissions there is still overpopulation, so what has to be massively decreased is birth/fertility rates.

Anyone with children is part of the problem because most countries are increasing in population with lowish birth/fertility rates e.g. South Korea has the second lowest fertility rate in world, but it’s *still* increasing in population (more annual births than deaths) because of increased longevity. This is actually the same across most of Europe e.g. UK.

What we need is voluntary childlessness.

I’m entering into the lion’s den on this website, since 99.9% of its posters are pro-natalists who are part of the overpopulation problem.

Even if we cut carbon-emissions there is still overpopulation, so what has to be massively decreased is birth/fertility rates.

If the third-world countries had stable, 1950-level populations and the same consumption, we would almost not have a problem today.  Their exploding populations and rising expectations are THE problem.

Anyone with children is part of the problem because most countries are increasing in population with lowish birth/fertility rates e.g. South Korea has the second lowest fertility rate in world, but it’s *still* increasing in population (more annual births than deaths) because of increased longevity. Bullshit.  There are 130,000 fewer native French every year because deaths exceed births, and close to 400k fewer Japanese.  The first-world population increase is driven by immigration, most of it turd-world.  The non-natives make up more than half of births in many countries, including the USA.  THEY are the problem.

What we need is voluntary childlessness.

So OF COURSE you address this to the Westerners, not the turd-worlders and muzzies without whom that part of the problem would not exist.

We’ve seen this scam before.  You pushed ZPG and when the West took you seriously you acted all horrified that the “social safety net” would collapse because of not enough workers, so you demanded that the immigration floodgates be opened.

Why don’t you push NPG by returning the third-world hordes whence they came, where their resources aren’t sufficient to support excess fertility?  IOW, fix THE problem?  No, we are onto your scam this time:  you view the West as the problem and want to finish destroying it.

A raised middle finger is the only necessary response to that.

Though I’m not sure that darkness has always been there, or if it is trauma-induced depression. After all, we’re geared from a VERY young age to believe we are intrinsically bad. I don’t have it because my family was rather reluctant to swallow the shit.

And I also must say that I see much more of that darkness in the British, both historically and currently. They seem to be even more beaten down than we are. They don’t have people demonstrating every bloody Monday after work, they don’t have a party that defends them, they only have a very small identitarian movement. Brexit will be scrapped.

  183. Blubb says:

But if you think overpopulation is a problem – which it isn’t, but that’s another story – then you must:

    a) oppose all immigration from low footprint countries to high footprint countries
    b) oppose the fed and the state for making debt (otherwise known as enabling consumption that would otherwise not be possible)
    c) advocate for mass-sterilisation in Africa, as THAT’S where all the population happens

Most nativists don’t have problems with having fewer people in the country, as long as they are our people. Germany only had 24 million prior to WWI rather than 82 (~60 of them Germans) right now. Boy, would I love to live in a farmhouse with my kids, maybe have some chickens for them to chase. But in a Germany with even more people, space is at a premium, so my kids are cage-raised.

There’s scientific consensus for overpopulation and the evidence is overwhelming. In 2012, 105 science academies agreed with the threat of overpopulation to the environment and personal well-being, and looked at development strategies to reduce population growth. https://royalsociety.org/news/2012/iap-population-consumption/

Overpopulation is the main cause of anthropogenic global warming.

To briefly respond to your points:

I’ve argued for the past decade for countries to have zero-net migration aka balanced immigration/emigration (many already do) so there is no population growth by immigration. However, that’s not the same as “oppose all immigration” which is untenable and not practical; no country has literally closed borders. The main problem is the only political parties at the moment across Europe that argue for something like zero-net migration (e.g. Front National, UKIP) are right-wing populist or national-conservatives who have pro-natalist policies I cannot stomach. This is why I stopped voting for these sort of parties as a protest vote over 6 years back. There’s also the fact these type of parties have all gone down a Islamophobic route and make the wrong arguments against immigration which explains why they will always remain on the political fringe and they are a wasted vote. The solution I believe is neo-Malthusian centrist parties like Vote Sustainable in Australia. I would like to see Vote Sustainable parties spread across Europe that sensibly tackle immigration unlike populist parties.

Forced sterilisation isn’t humane, practical or sensible. Fertility rates can be realistically lowered across Africa by various methods that have already worked elsewhere (e.g. Thailand) such as access to contraception, stronger women’s rights, gender equality etc. As an example, African women with no education have, on average, 5.4 children, while those who have completed secondary school have 2.7 and those who have a college education have 2.2, and university education under 1.5.
