That is one ugly mutt. Can you guess which two breeds dominate her ancestry according to dog genome researchers running the MuttMix survey at the Broad Institute? They’ve scanned 400 mutts’ genomes.

Okay …

She’s about half Siberian husky, half Dalmatian, and I’m guessing, all trouble, with the neuroticism of a Dalmatian and the workaholism of a husky.

It strikes me that South Asians tend to think of humans the way dog breeders think of dogs: the more diversity, and the sharper the distinctions between breeds, the better. Europeans and Chinese tend to to be the opposite, without much taste for distinct breeds within their own populations. Middle Easterners are perhaps in-between Europeans and Indians.

If you ruled a diverse empire and you wanted to keep the emperorship of your line safe in perpetuity, would you prefer to homogenize the nations you rule, or keep them distinct? If, instead, your objective were to make your empire strong against rivaling neighbor nations, which would you prefer?

Hypothesis: It’s better to keep your subject nations distinct to maintain your own power, so as to make it difficult for them to unite against you due to linguistic and cultural barriers (British in India model), whereas if your objective is to be strong against foreign nations, it’s best to homogenize and eliminate internal differences and raise social capital by fostering a sense of national cohesion.

I agree with your hypothesis in the abstract. In actual cases, it would depend who is in your empire and who "you" are.

To use the dog breeding metaphor, you may have some very high quality breeds within your empire, perhaps even your own breed (after all, your breed became the rulers somehow, right?). Why not spread those hardy, healthy, hale, handsome, hard-working, highbrow genes around a bit? Everyone could use a little ruling class in them. Become a race of kings indeed!

Conversely, do you really want the sullen, slow, surly, sickly, stupid, spongers reproducing? Maybe it's better for everyone if they quietly go extinct.

Dilemma: if the H's breed with the S's, does that raise the S's or lower the H's? Hypothetical answer: since eggs are expensive and sperm is cheap, it's a net benefit if the H men breed with the S women, so long as it doesn't detract from the H men breeding with the H women. Conversely, it is a net liability if the H women breed with S men, especially since it probably won't even prevent the S men breeding with other S women.

So, what would be the social implications of all this? Hmmm. Let me think. Hmmm. ... It would seem like this is the polar opposite of our current---BZZZZRRRP »»CRIMESTOP««

The people ruling the American "empire" don't seem to have either goal in mind.

It seems like everything is being done solely toward the goal of crushing Whites.

People always compare American empire to Roman Empire and collapse. The narrative is that the Roman leadership became decadent and corrupt and worthless, and rome was overrun by foreigners.

But I bet that all those fuckup roman leaders had a vision in their heads of Rome as a powerful state, able to defeat other states, Rome continuing to exist as a thing.

Nobody within the power structure of Rome was tweeting out "death to Rome", unlike today when America's ruling class seems almost nakedly hostile to "their own" country.

Has this ever happened before, where a ruling class had basically no ambition other than eliminating most of the people they ruled over?

The jewish left caricature of Nazi Germany was that its sole purpose was to eliminate the jews. We know that's not true. But it does seem like it's true of the ruling class today.

What I read in your and Missouri's reflections:

How can a "ruler" domesticate humans with the goal of selecting for tractable possible population clusters/behaviors that will deliver maximum power and profit to the rulers.

Judging from the behavior of our existing elites, it appears that sometimes divide-and-conquer works best for this goal, and sometimes engineered conflict does. Other times good old panem et circenses.

Either way, farming humans is an old order of human business.

That domestication is the ultimate goal and driver behind the domestication of animals and plants.

For starters it involves destroying any populations (and all their works and culture) that experientially or genetically remember a natural law and order prior to Mesopotamian/Egyptian/Mediterranean/Indus Valley agriculture, and its hives and famines and bread and circuses and banking and debt slavery.

The American Republic experiment was about stepping outside of and trying to engineer an order where humans self-govern and evolve in different ways depending on the scale and task at hand. Our Founding Fathers were keen observers of the ancient world. They had actually done a lot of reading of the texts that were left behind.

On my reading list for some time:

  2. Actually, the entire third world mistreats animals (including dogs) with only a few famous exceptions.

Meanwhile to speak of breeds (which are wholly artificial) as definitive components of a dog’s ancestry is misleading at best.

What you call a mutt is the work of Nature, albeit screwed up along the way by the hand of man.

Drawing analogies between dogs and humans may take you in a direction you don’t want to go.

Just because something is "artificial" doesn't make it not real. Differences between dog breeds are both real and significant.

A mutt usually isn't a work of Nature, but rather a mistake of man.

If the point you're trying to make is that Nature naturally mixes its populations, that's at best debatable. For example, while India's caste system may be enforced by men now, the origin of the caste system is Nature. The abhorrence for or reluctance to breed with another population is Nature as much as selection pressures.

  9. Modest Proposals:

South Asians must go when the time comes. They must be removed from all European Christian nations. The proper place for South Asians is South Asia.

I don’t give a damn what Raj Chetty or Ramesh Ponnuru or Fareed Zakaria or any other South Asians have to say about anything. Get them the hell out.

The age of mass immigration is going to be followed by the age of mass deportation.

The Jew-controlled corporate propaganda apparatus must be obliterated.

It is absurd and civilizationally dangerous to allow Jew outfits such as Comcast/NBC or Viacom/CBS or Disney/ABC to continue to spread their propaganda without a peep of protest from any political leader on racial grounds.

Most South Asians will have to be deported from European Christian nations. There is no reason to allow South Asians to colonize any European Christian nation whatsoever.

Those Jews who can’t behave themselves — especially Jew billionaires such as Zuckerberg, Bloomberg, the Redstone mob, the Roberts mob and others — will have to be deported as well. Liquidate the assets of the anti-White Jews and deport them to Uganda or the Congo. Do not let the anti-White Jews re-infiltrate any other European Christian nation.

Jews who can keep their anti-White and anti-Christian animosity in check can stay. Give Trumpy employee Stephen Miller a raise.

The preceding comments have been modest goals easily achievable.

    Thank you for your time.

Regarding dog breeds, whether one considers them natural or not, good or not vs. mutts, they are a good analogy of human races. At least you can point to them and show race deniers how wrong their idea of "social constructs" is.

There are many fine mutts, and fine mixed humans too, BTW.

People always compare American empire to Roman Empire and collapse. The narrative is that the Roman leadership became decadent and corrupt and worthless, and rome was overrun by foreigners.

Rome (the Western Empire, anyway) didn't "fall" so much as disintegrate into a proto-Europe due to the immense administrative challenges of ruling most of one Continent and significant parts of two others given the available communications technology at the time. Eventually local concerns by Roman "citizens" who had never been to Rome proper began to overwhelm allegiance to the far-off seat of the Empire.

Perhaps a better analogy to the United States would be the disdain that plenty of people living far from DC seem to have towards our imperial capital. Unfortunately the communications technology and infrastructure now in the possession of the denizens of our imperial capital don't permit people in the far corners of the current empire to be left alone.

Has this ever happened before, where a ruling class had basically no ambition other than eliminating most of the people they ruled over?

Democratic governments with a broad franchise are quite new, so I think the different factor at play here has been the need to engineer some sort of democratic gloss for the things that the ruling class wants to do, and the way that the core American electorate has become recalcitrant and given the ruling class resistance by withholding its consent to its different schemes. Obviously they've had workarounds like the Courts, unaccountable IC, the administrative state and permanent bureaucracy. But it'd be so much easier and more straightforward if they had a third world peasant electoral majority voting for the ruling class's prerogatives as a condition of their continued receipt of bowls of porridge.

We see the dysgenic effects of mass third world immigration (as well as the social consequences) and assume that the ruling class just doesn't get it, but I've thought for a while that it's the intended outcome - a collection of tribes consisting of low IQ third world peasants is far easier to rule than disaffected whites with guns and their own ideas about The Founders and Essential Liberties and the rest.

That makes much more sense. Remember it’s not wrong to rape a German woman, it is wrong to think bad things about Jews even if you never meet one to do harm. They might even take your children into care. Teach your children views about the host population that legitimise their rape and general assault and you’re fine.

People always compare American empire to Roman Empire and collapse. The narrative is that the Roman leadership became decadent and corrupt and worthless, and rome was overrun by foreigners.

Rome (the Western Empire, anyway) didn’t “fall” so much as disintegrate into a proto-Europe due to the immense administrative challenges of ruling most of one Continent and significant parts of two others given the available communications technology at the time. Eventually local concerns by Roman “citizens” who had never been to Rome proper began to overwhelm allegiance to the far-off seat of the Empire.

Perhaps a better analogy to the United States would be the disdain that plenty of people living far from DC seem to have towards our imperial capital. Unfortunately the communications technology and infrastructure now in the possession of the denizens of our imperial capital don’t permit people in the far corners of the current empire to be left alone.

Obviously they’ve had workarounds like the Courts, unaccountable IC, the administrative state and permanent bureaucracy. But it’d be so much easier and more straightforward if they had a third world peasant electoral majority voting for the ruling class’s prerogatives as a condition of their continued receipt of bowls of porridge.

We see the dysgenic effects of mass third world immigration (as well as the social consequences) and assume that the ruling class just doesn’t get it, but I’ve thought for a while that it’s the intended outcome – a collection of tribes consisting of low IQ third world peasants is far easier to rule than disaffected whites with guns and their own ideas about The Founders and Essential Liberties and the rest.

It's interesting to read the comments of colonial officials when the Scotch-Irish started arriving. Apparently one family of SIs were more trouble for the officials than 20 families of more "normal" English or Germans.

Scotch-Irish is in many ways the basic traditional American "don't tread on me" cultural template. While they weren't generally a majority on the frontier, their culture was so perfectly suited to the frontier way of life that they tended to wind up as leaders and had highly disproportionate influence culturally.

Exactly right, it seems to me. Another guy who says that this is what is really going on with USG is a rare member of the Mexican elite who seems to be well-disposed to the North American nation and its historic people. 26. When I was about 6 0r 7, my family thought it’d be a good idea to buy a Dalmation. I was kind of frightened by her intensity at first. We kept her about 9 months, and then had to give her away to some folks who had a farm. We just didn’t have enough room at our house for her to run off all of that energy.

Dog breeding is an extreme of genetic engineering when compared to human differences through evolution. Don’t know if Dalmations and Huskies, being more in the vein of working dogs, are less engineered than other breeds, though.

Dalmations: more engineered, extremely overbred/inbred. Dalmations haven't been serious working dogs for at least a hundred years, probably more.
Huskies: less engineered, fairly close to their wolf roots, at least among actual working sled dogs. The puppy mills churning out family pets do some terrible stuff to any breed that gets popular.

If you ruled a diverse empire and you wanted to keep the emperorship of your line safe in perpetuity, would you prefer to homogenize the nations you rule, or keep them distinct? If, instead, your objective were to make your empire strong against rivaling neighbor nations, which would you prefer?

Hypothesis: It's better to keep your subject nations distinct to maintain your own power, so as to make it difficult for them to unite against you due to linguistic and cultural barriers (British in India model), whereas if your objective is to be strong against foreign nations, it's best to homogenize and eliminate internal differences and raise social capital by fostering a sense of national cohesion.

What I read in your and Missouri’s reflections:

How can a “ruler” domesticate humans with the goal of selecting for tractable possible population clusters/behaviors that will deliver maximum power and profit to the rulers.

  28. Combining the topic of dogs and demographics, i have soured on them since moving to California. In the Midwest the standard time to get a dog was after the oldest kid was old enough to take care of it and the youngest was mature enough to not provoke it into biting. A perfectly functional dog culture.

Here, a lot of single women have dogs and it is a negative for dating them since they spend a lot of time caring for them and can’t go on trips without a lot of hassle first. I’d like to get a dog eventually too once I am fully settled, but a puppy that will be bonded to me, not an adult probably ill trained by a woman.

I also see young couples spending an extra 600-1000 a month on rent to accommodate their dog when they could be saving for a house downpayment and children. San Diego has a fair number of detached houses that don’t have fenced yards you can leave a dog in. The price of a fenced yard amenity is about an extra $600 a month compared to a similar house without one. People with dogs thus end up spending an extra $36,000 in rent over five years, and meanwhile bid up the price of a place that would be good for a young couple with a young child.

Actually, the entire third world mistreats animals (including dogs) with only a few famous exceptions.

Meanwhile to speak of breeds (which are wholly artificial) as definitive components of a dog's ancestry is misleading at best.

    Modest Proposals:

South Asians must go when the time comes. They must be removed from all European Christian nations. The proper place for South Asians is South Asia.

I don't give a damn what Raj Chetty or Ramesh Ponnuru or Fareed Zakaria or any other South Asians have to say about anything.

Those Jews who can't behave themselves -- especially Jew billionaires such as Zuckerberg, Bloomberg, the Redstone mob, the Roberts mob and others -- will have to be deported as well.

It depends upon the traits. Most dog breeding is now about show confirmation - i.e., getting as close to a shoulder height of 13.342 inches or something stupid like that. That sort of breeding yields the results you stated above.

There are still true working dog programs in place, in which temperament and working ability are much more highly prized over minor flaws in conformation to a physical breed standard. These dogs can't be beat by mutts or randomly "purebred" dogs for working ability. For an example, compare an AKC Champion German Shepherd to a GSD with titled Schutzhund sire and dam from DDR working lines.

Scotch-Irish is in many ways the basic traditional American “don’t tread on me” cultural template. While they weren’t generally a majority on the frontier, their culture was so perfectly suited to the frontier way of life that they tended to wind up as leaders and had highly disproportionate influence culturally.

The ancestors of Anerica’s Ruling class began arriving in 1880. They are not Americans. They are travelers, staying here for a while until they steal everything they can.

They’re already planning their next jump to China.

The WASP / Jew ruling class of the American Empire is evil and it must be destroyed.

    Richard Nixon:

“They put the Jewish interest above America’s interest, and it’s about goddamn time that the Jew in America realizes he’s an American first and a Jew second.”

Richard Nixon was a ruling class stooge boy Ohio Quaker. Virginia Quakers are the best Quakers.

The Jews will not change. Quaker boy Nixon should have known that.

White Core American Patriots must dislodge the WASP / Jew ruling class from power.

White Core American Patriots must provide military assistance to the Australians, Canadians, and English so they can also dislodge their evil WASP / Jew ruling classes from power.

Canada is under attack from the evil forces of globalization and multiculturalism.

That’s going to be a tough one to pull off. How do you get 1.2 billion people to hate themselves as a necessary pre-condition? And, when your group doesn’t have the advantage of camouflage provided by being of purportedly the same racial, European and judeo/Christian cultural heritage? Then throw in the fact your targets are almost as smart as you are. I’m betting on the Chinese winning this one.

Unlikely because that area was heavily populated by Persians (the word "Teheran" is clearly visible in the window behind the van in the main picture), who are generally atheists or otherwise more amenable to Western culture. A Salafist would view Persians as an ideal target, but, in a Western city, would be much more interested in hitting Westerners. Overly Long Episodes Are The Manspreading of TV

The first episode of this season of Westworld clocks in at 69 minutes. And sure, as a one-off extra-long installment, that’s pretty unremarkable. (You could even call it nice.) But season two’s fourth episode is a whopping hour and 11 minutes, and I’d be astonished if it’s the last episode this season to run over an hour. The season-one finale episode, after all, was a full 90 minutes.

If you ruled a diverse empire and you wanted to keep the emperorship of your line safe in perpetuity...

If, instead, your objective were to make your empire strong...

Canada must begin the necessary mass deportations of foreigners and other invaders. This might have to go back 2 or 3 generations to restore cultural cohesion to Canada.

Young people in Canada are finding it extremely difficult to enjoy AFFORDABLE FAMILY FORMATION because of all the foreigners swarming into Canada. Housing costs are going through the roof.

Frank Wild was a member of the legendary Shackleton Expedition to Antarctica, beset by truly abysmal challenges. An excerpt from his memoirs:

This duty fell upon me, & was the worst job I ever had in my life; I have known many men I would rather shoot than the worst of the dogs.”

*I could hit Windows+R and type charmap to open up the Character Map to insert the upside-down Spanish exclamation mark, but I don't feel like it.

By the way, does Sapir-Whorf extend to punctuation? Does the fact that Spanish-speaking folks need an extra exclamation mark speak to the Latin temperament - their excitability, their emotionalism, their lusty zest for life?

I still remember when I first heard about the Sapir-Whorf theory as a teenager. I became extremely depressed. First I thought about all of the thoughts that I would never be able to think because I didn't know Sanskrit or High Norse or Early Modern Klingon or whatever. And then I thought about all of the thoughts that no man could ever think, simply because the words to express them had never been coined by anyone, anywhere - except, perhaps, by God. Then I began to wonder if I could somehow create new facets of reality simply by coining new words. After all, the Word came before everything else, right? (Fortunately, I stopped well short of the mental territory mapped by Jared Lee Loughner.)

Then I started looking into the history of English. I learned that English was a Germanic tongue that had a lot of French, Latin, and Greek words in it. In my mind, the term Germanic conjured up cool images of ... Vikings. (Did you think I was going to say something else?) I began to wonder what new thoughts I could think if I could get rid of the French, Latin, and Greek words. (It did not occur to me that, if I got rid of a whole bunch of words, I would, in fact, be able to think fewer thoughts.)

My thought process was as follows: Vikings were cool; Vikings spoke Old Norse; Old Norse was Germanic; therefore, we should say cowflesh instead of beef, swineflesh instead of pork, and wordhoard instead of vocabulary. Why? For the lulz, I guess.

When I was about 6 0r 7, my family thought it'd be a good idea to buy a Dalmation. I was kind of frightened by her intensity at first. We kept her about 9 months, and then had to give her away to some folks who had a farm. We just didn't have enough room at our house for her to run off all of that energy.

Dog breeding is an extreme of genetic engineering when compared to human differences through evolution. Don't know if Dalmations and Huskies, being more in the vein of working dogs, are less engineered than other breeds, though.

Dalmations: more engineered, extremely overbred/inbred. Dalmations haven’t been serious working dogs for at least a hundred years, probably more.
Huskies: less engineered, fairly close to their wolf roots, at least among actual working sled dogs. The puppy mills churning out family pets do some terrible stuff to any breed that gets popular.

I believe it has come out that he was Armenian and therefore probably Christian.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/monkeys-mating-inter-species-tanzania-red-tailed-blue-gombe-national-park-a8318606.html

Interesting article about promiscuous female red tail monkeys mating with male blue tail monkeys that are alleged to be another species of monkeys who have different habits and a different social hierarchy.

Apparently the male blue tailed monkeys were driven off from their own tribe and started sexually poaching the female red tailed monkeys who according to scientists were “willing.”

According to a female scientist studying the groups it is theorized that the female red tailed monkeys apparently find the male blue tail monkeys more “exotic” and hence more desirable.

“But it’d be so much easier and more straightforward if they had a third world peasant electoral majority voting for the ruling class’s prerogatives as a condition of their continued receipt of bowls of porridge.”

Exactly right, it seems to me. Actually, the entire third world mistreats animals (including dogs) with only a few famous exceptions.

Meanwhile to speak of breeds (which are wholly artificial) as definitive components of a dog's ancestry is misleading at best.

What you call a mutt is the work of Nature, albeit screwed up along the way by the hand of man.

Drawing analogies between dogs and humans may take you in a direction you don't want to go.

If the point you’re trying to make is that Nature naturally mixes its populations, that’s at best debatable. For example, while India’s caste system may be enforced by men now, the origin of the caste system is Nature. The abhorrence for or reluctance to breed with another population is Nature as much as selection pressures.

I've always thought dog breeds and human races are roughly what we refer to in other circumstances as sub-species. The dog breeds established intentionally by breeding for specific desired traits, the humans evolving by accident over much longer periods of isolated inbreeding.

As with "natural" sub-species, there is always a zone of transition where their territories meet, with those in the zone being cross-breeds with characteristics of both sub-species. But that intermediate examples exist does not mean the sub-species don't also exist.

Actually dog breeds are not considered separate sub species. Dogs as a whole are a subspecies. They’re the lupus familiaris subspecies in the canis species. Dog breeds aren’t considered to be a scientific classification and I guess are sort of considered to be a “social construct.”

A lot of highly regarded and huge-price-tag pure breeds can also be considered man's mistakes:

    https://dogbehaviorscience.wordpress.com/2012/09/29/100-years-of-breed-improvement/

In fact IME it is the culls in many animal breeding experiments/enterprises who prove to be the more intelligent, personable, healthy ones precisely because they're not manifesting some picayune marketable set of traits that may or may not correlate with these more positive ones.

Horizontal vs vertical trait breeding. It's parallel to how plant breeders have generated agronomically powerful but ecologically fragile food crops that must be sustained with massive chemical and labor inputs...and environmental damage.

In fact IME it is the culls in many animal breeding experiments/enterprises who prove to be the more intelligent, personable, healthy ones precisely because they’re not manifesting some picayune marketable set of traits that may or may not correlate with these more positive ones.

It depends upon the traits. Most dog breeding is now about show confirmation – i.e., getting as close to a shoulder height of 13.342 inches or something stupid like that. That sort of breeding yields the results you stated above.

There are still true working dog programs in place, in which temperament and working ability are much more highly prized over minor flaws in conformation to a physical breed standard. These dogs can’t be beat by mutts or randomly “purebred” dogs for working ability. For an example, compare an AKC Champion German Shepherd to a GSD with titled Schutzhund sire and dam from DDR working lines.

Yes indeed, and we can say the same for any other breeding programs.

But it's almost as though there's this sort of, I dunno, bell curve in the distribution of such things, where most of what goes on is a bit to somewhat to extremely stupid, with some small portion having a larger/meta intelligence about the endeavor.

FWIW, veterinarians and animal cops/humane society workers of my acquaintance are usually the people who are left holding the bag for these decisions. Apart from the poor animals themselves.

What I want to know is whether there are dog breeders who are trying to retain the earlier traits and robustness of the classic breeds.

I know more about plant and livestock breeding than dog breeding, particularly breed conservancy projects.

    https://livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/conservation-priority-list

Some years ago now, a lot of western-farmer/gardener-developed plant germplasm got handed over to the globalists, like the Svalbard Seed Vault. Ostensibly an anti-doom measure, but I figured it was a way to collect germplasm for the NWO. This was with massive developments in international plant intellectual property law just on the horizon with the advances in genomics.

Of course after Cary Fowler married into the Goldman family, any hope of plant germplasm continuing to be held by the public evaporated. Now there's Gates money in the mix as well, and other big globalist funds. And people for some reason think Monsanto is the most evil food system player in the mix.

That’s why it was the “British” Empire, not the “English”.

Now there’s Gates money in the mix as well, and other big globalist funds. And people for some reason think Monsanto is the most evil food system player in the mix.

If you want a great dog, get a black mouth cur. They are very intelligent, can herd cattle, work a trail, hunt hogs, and are loyal and protective, but not mean. They are around 75 lbs and very muscular, but gentle with kids.

They do need lots of exercise. If you are not working them, they need to get outside and run around pretty regularly.

They are common in the rural south, but I don't know about other areas of the country.

Persistent folklore that a black-mouthed dog is intelligent. I believe it has merit, and am curious as to its basis and origin.

I haven't heard of that. If by black mouth you mean the inside of the mouth, the black mouth cur does not qualify. The name comes from the black fur mask around the mouth.

I assume the black mouth cur is intelligent because it has been selectively bred in the American south as a working dog. And it is very good at several different types of work. It was not bred for its looks, but most are very handsome dogs.

Somewhat related is the following article about monkeys I read today.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/monkeys-mating-inter-species-tanzania-red-tailed-blue-gombe-national-park-a8318606.html

Interesting article about promiscuous female red tail monkeys mating with male blue tail monkeys that are alleged to be another species of monkeys who have different habits and a different social hierarchy.

Apparently the male blue tailed monkeys were driven off from their own tribe and started sexually poaching the female red tailed monkeys who according to scientists were "willing."

According to a female scientist studying the groups it is theorized that the female red tailed monkeys apparently find the male blue tail monkeys more "exotic" and hence more desirable.

The article immediately made me think of Whiskey and the various female politicians who want to let in exotic single male immigrants (like Frau Merkel) to Western countries.

As Whiskey might put it ...."Red tail female monkeys simply Hate Hate Hate beta red tailed male monkeys!!!"

It also ties in with the sexy son hypothesis put forward by some evolutionary biologists.

IMHO, Whiskey goes off a bit, but he works from a sound foundation.

Sanity does matter. The Pewitts out there calling for rounding up and deporting American born Asians is catnip to the left and mainstream right that wants to make nationalism look scary and unconstitutional.

They are effectively part of the American left since they are key to whipping up its support and demoralizing the right. Fortunately we have the New Black Panthers and nutcase professors who do similar damage to the left.

And maybe he’s also calling attention to the fact that all is not well in Kalispell, and that simply because one has become an American doesn’t mean that one should run over the interests of the earlier groups that opened the frontier and made immigration possible for the many who followed. Not that it isn’t possible, but other options might be preferred.

  125. Sorry Steve, Americans are mutts. No getting around it, the ship has sailed.

    No going back.
You were on the right track with citizenism, just like the Romans who invented the idea. Good ideas last. Stick with that one, just raise the standard of what it means to be a citizen and revoke the “I have no civic virtues but I’m smart” trump card, at least in most cases. Maybe it isn’t good enough just to be smart.
And as to 90:10 – I remember I owe you 3 Starbucks coffees by my own wager for being wrong about James Damore having a severance with an NDA from Google – I’ll get you that by one of the means on your April drive. No bet here just odds, but I stand by them: mutts.

Something I find truly amazing is the direct contradiction between the apparent fascination with genealogy as "telling me who I really am" and the notion that "humans are born as a blank slate."

It seems to me these two ideas are on a collision course, made more inevitable with the great expansion of genetic science.

Personally, I reject them both. We are not born as blank slates, but neither is our ancestry dispositive as to "who we are."

  130. According to what Steve and Anatoly Karlin have wrote, Indians are wide readers of HBD articles. And yet, they tend to be the most vociferous leftists propagating victim mentality! I have yet to meet a SINGLE Indian – in the US, or the West, that is open to the idea of discussing racial differences in IQ. Even on Unz articles related to Indians, Indian commenters tend to ignore the IQ evidence. In addition, there has been nearly zero pushback from Indian upper castes against caste reservations.

This hasn’t always been the case. Hundreds of years ago and even during British rule, Indians seem to have accepted caste as normal and even intuitively understood the genetic rationale for it hundreds of years ago.

Now, behind closed doors, they realize intuitively that not all Indians are the same but they are not willing to cross the red line and talk about genetic differences. In the decades right before independence, something clicked and influential Indians completely rejected the possibility of IQ and personality differences between castes, even though eugenics and racial differences in IQ were widely accepted in the West prior to WW2. Could it be that in order to morally argue for India’s independence by claiming that all human are equal, Indians were forced to reject the underlying rationale for the caste system? And if so, with the threat of British re-colonization now non-existent, could diversity-curious Indians rediscover their old intuitions about caste?

This is something I've wondered about for a while.

To any rational outside observer, such as Mr. Spock, the "racism" of the British colonialists would be pretty much indistinguishable from caste consciousness, with the British of course, as with every other conqueror, sticking themselves into the system as the top caste.

So for the Indian upper castes to build a case against British racism, they had to at one level reject the very idea of caste while at another hanging onto it. This of course creates, or should create, massive cognitive dissonance, but so far they seem to be able to generally keep it below conscious level.

  133. Not entirely correct.

    Canis is a genus,not a species.

The domestic dog is most often classified asCanis familiaris, and the wolf as Canis lupus.

However, since the entire structure of and indeed idea of taxonomy is artificial, the dividing lines between genera, species, sub-species and “breeds” are also by definition artificial. Taxonomy is something we invented to allow us to classify the biological world into categories, which is something humans seem to do compulsively.

Taxonomy is a map, not the territory. As with a (good) map, it reflects the territory and indeed can be used to help us understand the territory more accurately than we could without the map, but it is still an artificial creation of the human mind, not reality itself.

That’s easy. Just get them hooked on opium, which seems to have the same pacifying effect on orientals that Christianity does on Europeans.
