From NBC News:

Device Explodes in New Jersey, 5 People Questioned in New York Bombing Investigation

by MIGUEL ALMAGUER, ALEX JOHNSON, TOM WINTER, RICHARD ESPOSITO and JONATHAN DIENST

ELIZABETH, N.J. — A device exploded early Monday as a bomb squad robot examined a suspicious package that appeared to contain pipe bombs near an Elizabeth transit station, Mayor Chris Bollwage said.

A spokesman for Bollwage earlier said the explosion was a controlled detonation, but at a news briefing a few minutes later, Bollwage said the robot was “cutting into the device when it exploded.”

“This was an explosive device” containing as many as five devices, he said. “Based on the loudness, I think people could have been severely hurt or injured if they had been in the vicinity.”

Latest developments:

– Device explodes in Elizabeth, N.J.
– Five questioned after “vehicle of interest” stopped in New York
– Surveillance video may show the same man at both New York locations where devices were found
– Governor orders 1,000 state troopers and National Guard soldiers to New York City
– Authorities investigating 911 call claiming responsibility
– Officials looking to identify suspects from surveillance video
– Both NYC “bomb” and explosive device in New Jersey used flip-phones

Also, there was an earlier bomb that went off in New Jersey at what had been scheduled to be a 5k run in honor of the Marine Corps. Nobody was hurt.

So, we’re now up to bombs being planted in at least four locations, two in New Jersey, two in New York City. One in NYC went off injuring 29, two in New Jersey went off without hurting anybody (I hope), and one was discovered in NYC before it went off.

It makes sense when you factor in that almost all Nonwhite Americans support open borders & unlimited immigration and White Liberals support those things as well.

When you combine Nonwhites and White Liberals together, they easily make up a majority of The U.S population. White Conservatives are in the minority. We make up only 35 to 40 percent of The U.S population at best. Is that enough to get Donald Trump elected president?

The only way Donald Trump wins is if we get low voter turnout from White Liberals and Nonwhites who feel that Crooked Hildabeast sucks just as much as Donald Trump does and they decide to sit out this election like they did with John Kerry.

Hillary doesn't a majority of Americans, just 270 Electoral College votes. Gaming the system in a few key states is all it will take. To counter that, Trump needs to win big. It's not impossible but it is more challenging than Hillary's path.

Simple, this is the enforced Zeitgeist promulgated across the media-academia- Übermensch complex. What the verbose Mencius Moldbug calls ‘The Cathedral‘. This Zietguist envelopes popular culture, the education system and the media.

Most folks are not political junkies and simply wish to be seen as goodthinkers rather than deplorables. You have to be somewhat otherwise to have the dissident mindset.

The only way this dissident mindset can break through is by winning the culture wars. This is why the work of the likes of Milo and the whole meme thing is so desperately important. It’s subversive of the mainstream Gramscian narrative, hijacking their own techniques.

  11. OT–

Gavin Dowd, a leftist academic in St. Andrews University in Scotland, is a friend of Michel H..beck and has translated a number of his books into English.

Now he has published a book of his own, “Mémoires d’outre-France”. An anecdote from the book may be of interest to iSteve readers.

    http://bibliobs.nouvelobs.com/documents/20160907.OBS7655/le-soir-ou-michel-houellebecq-a-voulu-appeler-a-voter-marine-le-pen.html

    Summary in English:

A private get-together at H…beck flat in Paris, January 2013.

H…beck watching the TV and finishing off a bottle of absinthe. TV showing images from one of the countless conflicts in Middle East.

At the time, H. was separated from his wife but accompanied by a skimpily clad young university lit student named Ines.

Everyone drinking freely, while waiting for a delivery of sea fruit the party dig into the lamb. H. holds forth on favorite topic, Nobel prize. Upset that the two French writers recently awarded may diminish his chances of winning.

Next, H. launches into his second favorite topic. Verbatim quote:

I am going to give an interview in which I call for civil war to eliminate Islam from France. I will call on people to vote for Marine Le Pen!

Ines objects to this politically incorrect outburst which seems to be cribbed from other disaffected leftists such as Renaud Camus and Robert Menard:

    H. responds:

The Front National is not a far-right party, they are not Drumont or Daudet [two well-known French antisemites].

    Ines:

But all your friends are limousine liberals who vote for Melenchon [far-left French socialist]. You will never get your Nobel if you talk like that!

Returning home, Dowd asks himself, what am I doing here. How did we get from communism to Front National, from fighting capitalism to fighting Islam, to this absinthe-fueled ideological delirium?

  12. OT but some funny comments to an Ann Althouse blog post about the coming election:

“I am not sure I want President Trump. But I think I want President-Elect Trump. President Trump may be a price worth paying for a Trump victory. It’s not as high a price as it sounds, as it’s only the difference between President Trump and President Hillary.”

“Suddenly it seems Mr. Trump is going to win. This is remarkable and a great sign of hope for our country. I’ve gone from Against Trump to I’ll Support Him If He Wins the Nomination to Trump’s my Man to Trump’s the Man. I like him, warts and all.“

The Sweden Democrats are roughly doubling their support with every four year election. In the 2014 election they took 12.9% of the vote and just last year, two years before the next election, were already polling at around 25% support. There is hope for Sweden yet.
  16. Well, this is one area in which the 1965 reforms to immigration have allowed your country to progress.

In the 60s, you had to radicalise large swathes of your youth in order to ‘bring the war home’.

Now, your government gets the same result by just importing the radicalised masses wholesale.

    Efficiency!

  18. The only suspected motive released is a user on Tumblr claiming they did it to highlight oppression against gay/trans people. But the whole thing sounds like a troll.

Whomever is doing this does give the impression of a lone-wolf who isn’t very good at making their bombs explode and seems to be targeting very strange locations (Other than the 5k Marine run) based maybe more on familiarity and perhaps opportunity to place the bombs when nobody is around.

    It’s a very strange case.

Had a IED bod on BBC radio news this lunchtime saying it looked to his (very experienced) eyes like a general low-criticality sweep of the area (or whatever the hip term is) using disposable, barely sentient gumbies and comedy "bombs" just to map out the response capability and methods of the LEOs etc. before siting the Big One(s), with those factors taken into account.

OTOH that's his day job, being paranoid for money. But the world's not short of enraged idiots who can't do anything right (my preferred explanation for almost any untoward event, also based on decades of bitter experience).

    , @eD
"I continue to entertain the notion that the bombs are a false flag operation by Clintonistas, intended to be interpreted as a false flag operation by Trumpeteers. "

I suspect false flag, but its a Gladio style campaign by the security forces, to increase the power and budget of the security forces. Look up "strategy of tension".

The other possible interpretation is that the elites really are letting in lots of Muslim terrorists and just don't realize or don't care that they, well, will try to commit terrorism and that this will help Trump, who they don't want to see elected. This doesn't make much sense, but the elites could well be berserk at this point. It could also be a mixture of both.

If its a Gladio style thing, well the effect on the election becomes a problem but security forces have methods for dealing with that.

The world is usually quite a bit simpler. You get mugged in the city ... probably a black guy. A bomb goes off in the city this day and age, probably some muslim guy acting muslimy.

For the record, i wouldn't put a false flag operation past the Clintons. I wouldn't put anything past the Clintons. But it wouldn't be the sort of ludicrous triple bank shot you're talking about. It would be direct, easy to pin on some Trump "extremist" patsy and close to the election for maximum impact on the emotions of women and minimum time for anyone to expose false flagginess.

Now that the Muslim International has switched to a lone wolf jihad strategy, expect to see a bunch of dumb African/Pakistani/Arab bombings and stabbings that are marginally effective.

These "lone wolves" are dumber than a box of rocks, impulsive, and barely able to get to work in the morning.

New York/New Jersey/California/Florida are filled with losers like this. Read the Daily News. To NYNJCAFL people these attacks are like background noise.

Hence such ineffectual attacks may have the opposite effect: NYNJCAFL people may decide they can just live with a few bombings/stabbings. Heck, they lived with immigrant (anarchist) bombings and assassinations for a few decades at the turn of the twentieth century. They didn't expel nutcase foreigners then (cf. the Palmer Raids). So why won't turn a blind eye again?

On the other hand, if there are a couple more Mateen-sized events before Election Day ...
    , @Jack D
The pressure cooker bombs in NY were very similar to the devices that killed and maimed dozens at the Boston Marathon. Fortunately for us, the bomber was slightly less competent so the results were not as bad. The fact that he used an inferior explosive and put the one that exploded inside a steel dumpster was probably a big factor - these bombs cause most of their human damage with shrapnel (which he had helpfully included inside his bomb) rather than blast effects and the dumpster must have contained or slowed down much of the shrapnel so that no one was killed or even seriously wounded. But not for lack of trying on Abdul's part.

Someone ought to remind the Pope of the story of one of the Church's most recent Saints, i.e Mother (Saint) Teresa. Mother Teresa is famous for tending to the poor of Calcutta. But it is important to remember that she WENT to Calcutta. She did not bring Calcutta back to the West.

The Pope and his followers are free to emulate Mother Teresa and depart towards the four corners of the third world and tend to the poor.

These “lone wolves” are dumber than a box of rocks, impulsive, and barely able to get to work in the morning.

They didn’t expel nutcase foreigners then (cf. the Palmer Raids). So why won’t turn a blind eye again?

"But what levels of insanity have we reached as a society when a majority of Americans continue to believe allowing unlimited immigration, knowing it will cause increased death and suffering of American citizens, is better than considering restrictions on immigration?"

One way the Reddit crowd confirmed it was Hillary's tech, the one who got immunity, is because he mentions in various places that he drives a Pontiac Aztek.

I don't think it was the Aztec in particular, though it was symptomatic. Although it was a failure, at least they were trying something different, but the organization was too dysfunctional to tell different in a bad way apart from different in a good way.

Ultimately, Pontiac, Buick and Olds were selling almost the same product under 3 different labels so it made sense to get rid of the redundant labels. When GM had a 50% market share that made sense but not at 20%. How GM went from 50% market share down to 20% is a long and sad story.

The pressure cooker bombs in NY were very similar to the devices that killed and maimed dozens at the Boston Marathon. Fortunately for us, the bomber was slightly less competent so the results were not as bad. The fact that he used an inferior explosive and put the one that exploded inside a steel dumpster was probably a big factor – these bombs cause most of their human damage with shrapnel (which he had helpfully included inside his bomb) rather than blast effects and the dumpster must have contained or slowed down much of the shrapnel so that no one was killed or even seriously wounded. But not for lack of trying on Abdul’s part.

The only suspected motive released is a user on Tumblr claiming they did it to highlight oppression against gay/trans people. But the whole thing sounds like a troll.

Whomever is doing this does give the impression of a lone-wolf who isn't very good at making their bombs explode and seems to be targeting very strange locations (Other than the 5k Marine run) based maybe more on familiarity and perhaps opportunity to place the bombs when nobody is around.

    It's a very strange case.

Had a IED bod on BBC radio news this lunchtime saying it looked to his (very experienced) eyes like a general low-criticality sweep of the area (or whatever the hip term is) using disposable, barely sentient gumbies and comedy “bombs” just to map out the response capability and methods of the LEOs etc. before siting the Big One(s), with those factors taken into account.

OTOH that’s his day job, being paranoid for money. But the world’s not short of enraged idiots who can’t do anything right (my preferred explanation for almost any untoward event, also based on decades of bitter experience).

Must be an urban legend - both type talk to the same towers and are equally traceable. Most terrorists are poor and don't have money to spend on iPhones that are going to explode anyway. Plus it must be easier to hotwire the ringer of flip phone to be a bomb trigger. Maybe the directions on the internet are a few years old and specify a flip phone.

I continue to entertain the notion that the bombs are a false flag operation by Clintonistas, intended to be interpreted as a false flag operation by Trumpeteers. The Dems are getting desperate. I suppose in the end that they'll try to assassinate him.

“I continue to entertain the notion that the bombs are a false flag operation by Clintonistas, intended to be interpreted as a false flag operation by Trumpeteers. ”

I suspect false flag, but its a Gladio style campaign by the security forces, to increase the power and budget of the security forces. Look up “strategy of tension”.

The other possible interpretation is that the elites really are letting in lots of Muslim terrorists and just don’t realize or don’t care that they, well, will try to commit terrorism and that this will help Trump, who they don’t want to see elected. This doesn’t make much sense, but the elites could well be berserk at this point. It could also be a mixture of both.

If its a Gladio style thing, well the effect on the election becomes a problem but security forces have methods for dealing with that.

I found it interesting that the article stated "flip phones." Several years ago while in Europe, flip phones were hot ( despite iPhones and smart phones proliferating) and the prevailing notion was: they couldn't be tracked. And, the worry was, that this was an ideal tool for Jihadis. Flip phones were stolen quite a lot.

Must be an urban legend – both type talk to the same towers and are equally traceable. Most terrorists are poor and don’t have money to spend on iPhones that are going to explode anyway. Plus it must be easier to hotwire the ringer of flip phone to be a bomb trigger. Maybe the directions on the internet are a few years old and specify a flip phone.

    • Replies: @Lagertha
not an urban legend in the country I was in while speaking with law enforcement/military people. The trigger implementation is correct, however. Flip phone batteries are easier to throw-out, get rid of, swallow, or shove up the___.
  73. It’s pretty damn impossible for the Lugenpresse – Lying press to spin this as anything else than bad Islamic immigration causing domestic terrorism, ugly, dark, hairy Islamic immigrants doing murder and mayhem.

But, understand I thought the same about 9/11/01 back when we had a GOP President George W Bush. 9/11/01 did not result in effective moves to secure our borders, end Islamic extremists immigration. Instead, Bush-Cheney-Rumsford and the Neo Con War mongers managed to spin the 9/11 attack in to yet another US invasion war against secular Iraq. There was even some attempt to blame Saddam Hussein for 9/11/01.

We haven’t heard too much from the cursed Neo Conservative war mongers lately, except notice that they have gone over to the Hillary side. Jonah Goldberg purged fired every honest Conservative writer at National Review and one result is National Review doesn’t even get published as a hard copy magazine anymore!

But, Jonah Goldberg is still making the media rounds pushing “Nevertrump”. Anybody that expressed doubt about new Neo Con wars against secular Arabs/Assad, bombing Iran or even restarting the Cold War against Russia – we’re Isolationists. And anyone saying we need to slow down or end mass Islamic immigration to the USA/the West – well these people are as bad as those who would rescue Jews from Nazi gas chambers.

After 9/11, I thought a complete and utter quarantine of all Islamist countries would have been logical: they can't immigrate to Europe/U.S./Australia/NZ. (Canada is a lost cause ) and they will only be granted short visas (with complete surveillance while here). Student visas would be heavily scrutinized (students under surveillance) and that they may not be given the option of working here once the degree is earned here. Still ticks me off that the Bin Laden family was jetted out of here right after 9/11.

And, the MENA countries that currently receive ample aid from the USA & Europe would have to account for the way the money is used. And, a stipulation would be that 50% must go into schools, universities, housing, public institutions for the betterment of their people....not into the hands of the corrupt elite/autocrats/dictators for personal stuff/weapons/vehicles. Paying them to stay in their countries with their religion, is logical (and prevents American/European deaths).

I wish all the stupid American pundits would know more (anything!) about the fact that this Islamist movement is a messianic movement, a millennial movement because it doesn't matter if it is one bad man (or creepy woman like Tashfeen), or a cell. Each individual is a soldier of Allah.

It's impossible to monitor radicalization. The only way to prevent more is to ship everyone out that can be deported...and prevent more from coming in. I mean, they are trying the, "we will out breed you in Europe." Israel and Palestine are in a race to the top with that :)!

And, it is just so sickening that foolish Americans and Europeans believe that Muslims integrate into Western societies. Parents don't let their young people date non-Muslims. Muslims can't have boyfriends/girlfriends. Hmmmm? which makes me think: that 28 -yr old chicken shack bomber, what's up with living at home w/ parents, and no wife(s)?

My uncle was a Pontiac dealer when the Aztec came out to much hoopla from the wet-behind-the-ears suits GM sent to all the dealers to promote it.

They sold exactly zero in the first four months it was out. Ended up killing Pontiac.

I don’t think it was the Aztec in particular, though it was symptomatic.

True, but in the case of Pontiac specifically, they needed a pick-up and were supposed to get one there for awhile. The Aztek was going to be the Sport-Ute (as the "sporty" GM brand, Pontiac kinda needed at least one of those). When it showed up on the Montana (minivan) chassis, we knew that was the beginning of the end.

He sold the dealership the next year and now makes a killing selling Kias.

Pope Francis: Hospitality to Refugees Is ‘Our Greatest Security’ Against Terrorism
    http://www.breitbart.com/national-security/2016/09/18/pope-francis-hospitality-refugees-greatest-security-terrorism/
Pope Francis has urged Europeans to take in more refugees, asserting that the best way to combat terrorism is by warmly welcoming migrants and helping them integrate into the “European context.”
In a meeting with hundreds of alumni of Jesuit schools in the Vatican on Saturday, Francis told his hearers that authentic hospitality “is our greatest security against hateful acts of terrorism.”

With your help, the Pope said, “the Church will be able to respond more fully to the human tragedy of refugees through acts of mercy that promote their integration into the European context and beyond.”

Francis continued, “I encourage you to welcome refugees into your homes and communities, so that their first experience of Europe is not the traumatic experience of sleeping cold on the streets, but one of warm human welcome.”

“Remember that authentic hospitality is a profound gospel value that nurtures love and is our greatest security against hateful acts of terrorism,” he said.

*******worst Pope in my lifetime. Argentinian leftism and liberation theology ruined his mind.

    Agreed.

This Liberation Theology CINO Catholic in Name Only Pope Francis is worst Pope in my lifetime.

Someone ought to remind the Pope of the story of one of the Church’s most recent Saints, i.e Mother (Saint) Teresa.

Can't get the image of the decapitated, 84 yr. old French Bishop out of my mind. This Pope is epic fail...a bizarre cheerleader for anarchy and nihilism while hidden away behind high walls. He won't be around in 10-15 years, so he doesn't care what happens.
