From Esquire:

My Experience at Charlie Rose Went Beyond Sexism

As one powerful man after another faces allegations of sexual misconduct, we’re still not talking about the ramifications for black women.

BY REBECCA CARROLL
DEC 4, 2017

In 1997, I joined the production team of Charlie Rose’s popular interview show. I was the only black journalist on staff. At the time, there was little to no recognition of what it meant to be black and female in a workplace dominated by white men. Twenty years later, in this watershed moment of examination and reckoning as one powerful white man after another is disgraced following allegations of sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to assault, we’re still not talking about the ramifications for black women—or the broader connection to structural racism in America.

… And while many of us on staff were subject to Charlie’s unsolicited shoulder massages and physical intimidation, as he towered above us at a height over six feet tall, the women Charlie preferred and preyed upon—at least that I witnessed—were white. It was an environment that all but erased me, while simultaneously exploiting me as a black woman. …

In America, the most desirable woman in the room—the most sacred, coveted, enshrined woman—has always been the white woman. …

To be clear, I’m not suggesting it would have been preferable for Charlie to have preyed upon me, too—but rather, his sexualization of white women was a manifestation of gendered power dynamics in the same way that his not sexualizing me was an expression of racialized power dynamics.

Also, she recently helped get a guy in a wheelchair fired.

  2. If I read this right, not harassing black women while harassing white women is a manifestation of racism. It seems to me that the underlying message is “White women are getting too much attention. Even if I wasn’t sexually harassed, people need to pay attention to me.”

Everything is race-ist because race is real. Generally, black women are less feminine.
Also, even good-looking ones tend to be more outspoken, so men are more cautious around the sistaz.

Anyway, she gives the game away. She feels envious because it was not a matter of simple sexual harassment. In many cases, it was a game where women played for his affections. The girls were competing to be his favorite, and manly black woman was not in the game.

But it could be that's really upset cuz black men act the same way. Preferring white over black.
    , @Arclight
It's always this - for people with this worldview, anything other than a celebration of her for simply existing is an indictment of our entire society.

This is the reason we have the bonkers protests on college campuses and totally insane commentary in the media. The critical theorists who have taken over have created a culture where a huge percentage of the population believes itself to be aggrieved victims whose feelings need to be accounted for more than anyone else. When that doesn't happen, it just reinforces their feelings of entitlement and grievance.

Think of all the verbiage we'd have to endure about "slavery" and "white man's access to black women's bodies" and such if Charlie Rose actually laid a paw upon her. Let us take a moment and be thankful for Charlie's good taste.

Even if black women are less attractive regardless of racial characteristics, fact remains that most people, including fellow blacks, are less attracted to even the best-looking black women. That has to do with racism, broadly construed. But this is one of many cases in which racism is not a bad thing.

Though it does make black women feel bad, because they don't get to be Queen Pretty. A moment of silence for their sexual plight.

Thanks for linking Ms. Carroll's piece “Mom, Why Is Everyone Here White?” What My Son Knows About Race That I Never Did at MyBrownBaby.com. It provides valuable context for the Esquire article that is the topic of the original post.

By Ms. Carroll's account, the white couple who adopted her were and are loving, conscientious, and capable parents. The article recounts a visit that she, her Black 8-year-old, and her white husband paid to her white parents in white New Hampshire.

My lovely mother, youthful looking at 72, positioned next to my father, less youthful looking at 72, and who had brought his regular stash of vodka in a plastic water bottle, as the barbecue fell squarely during cocktail hour and my father never misses cocktail hour no matter where he is or what the venue.

He was hunched slightly over his plate, cheeks reddened from the brisk weather and intermittent sips of vodka, affable and delighted as locals came up one after another to chat with the town celebrity. My father, even as we struggled our entire lives to make ends meet, is an artist and naturalist of great integrity, and immeasurable ego, and has always believed in himself and his work above almost all else.

In 2006, that belief paid off when he received a MacArthur “genius” grant for his environmental research and published books of natural history, followed by a National Book Award nomination a few years later. Subsequently, he was a big fish in a small pond and tended to revel in his standing with great ease. My mother smiled, ever the undying enthusiast and supporter of my father...

If this leaves you wondering what Ms. Carroll really thinks about her white parents, her white brother, and the white neighbors and white acquaintances of her home town, click the link. Fortunately, slip-in-the-shiv-and-twist isn't the only note Ms. Roberts can sing; she also knows virtue signalling.

Even as my husband is white and our son is light-skinned brown, he is being raised in New York City where he attends school with kids and teachers from all different racial and ethnic backgrounds; his father is a college professor who teaches courses and writes books about race and the history of the Civil Rights movement; his mother is black and writes about race in the media; his parents have friends who are black and brown and gay and who visit and discuss race and politics openly, rigorously, often.

Derbyshire's blackity-black-black quip seems to encompass Ms. Carroll as an essayist. And as a person.

Ms. Carroll was offered a few hundred bucks to pen a reflection that belittles her father and would make her mother cry. And she probably would have done it for free. After seeing her put her best foot forward: imagine this woman as a next-door neighbor, an in-law, a fellow volunteer, a supervisor or direct report at work.

She deserved Charlie Rose, and Charlie Rose deserved her.

    , @AnotherDad

Rebecca Carroll’s parents are white. She was adopted. Her husband is white.

White people really need to stop this nonsense. Adoption doesn't make anyone happy. And it's just depressing ankle grabbing that sows yet more cukoos among us and weakens white people.

Admit that we're different and cut 'em lose to be who they are while we can be who we are.
    , @jon
Awesome find. a few choice quotes:

I suddenly thought to myself: Who are these people and why did they bring me here to this town surrounded by all these white people? Even my 8-year-old son thinks it’s arcane. What were they thinking?

White people are arcane. Why do we still exist?

I explained that yes, there was a chance that people might shoot us because of how we look, because we are black

And those people that might shoot us are statistically most likely to be other blacks.

My parents had parented and cared for me, and I always knew they loved me — but my son feels like family in a way that they do not.

Because you were adopted and your son wasn't?

That may well be, but why then choose to live here while also raising a black child who will then grow up seeing white people everywhere she looks, everywhere she turns, every day, throughout her entire childhood? How is that healthy? Who does that?

With this I actually agree. If this lady and Colin Kaepernic are any indication, interracial adoption is a net negative for everyone.

HEADING: Serena Williams In a Thong Is GLORIOUS and Empowering For This Black Woman

    http://mybrownbaby.com/2017/02/serena-williams-in-a-thong/

Of course, that Serena Williams in a thong story practically broke the internet last week, but there was some negative talk; by the way some responded, you would have thought Serena pimp-slapped Gloria Steinem across the face and publicly tossed a middle finger to feminism. One particular piece on the independent went so far as to scream from its headlines that Serena’s “soft-porn photo shoot” sabotaged her battle for equality on the field, and reinforced the “sexist view that what women look like is more important than their achievements.”

“These kinds of photos are reductive, they’re about how women look rather than about what women like Serena have to say… these photos switch Serena into the traditional passive role for women who are objectified as things to be ogled.”

OT, but Matt Damon, having escaped swirling down the toilet bowl with Weinstein by the slimmest of margins, has the surprising lack of sense to actually open his mouth again. He’s not going to get a second chance.

Matt Damon has aged weirdly. It isn’t that he has aged poorly, but unattractively. He isn’t fat/wrinkled/gray/haggard, but rather just some average looking middle-aged schmoe whereas when he was young, he was quite handsome.

Somewhat the same with DiCaprio, although he never was too good looking to begin with. Sad, but neither of those guys can look forward to a Clooney-esque senescence.

Or compare recent photos of Sean Connery and Robert Redford.

Sean is six years older, but until very recently he was still darn good-looking. Bob, OTOH, has for a number of years looked not only old but really, really weird.

    , @anon
That's because DiCaprio and Damon are "boyish" looking, while Clooney looks manly/mature. Boyish-looking is good when you are a boy, adolescent, or even a young man, not so good when you are in your middle age and beyond. It just looks weird.

I always find it odd when DiCaprio or Damon play tough guys - it just doesn't work for me (but apparently work$ for them and their movie producers). James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, Idris Elba as Stringer Bell, Clint Eastwood as any tough guy he has ever played, Jack Nicholson as "Irish-American mobster Costello" (i.e., Whitey Bulger) - all believable. DiCaprio and Damon as tough Mass Staties - not so much. Not to say they're bad actors, it's just that their boyish faces don't fit those roles.

At least DiCaprio and Damon are supposed to be Irish in the Departed. The extremely goyish-looking DiCaprio was so miscast as Jordan Belfort in the Wolf of Wall Street that it had to be more than his Hollywood leading-boy appeal.
    , @Harry Baldwin
I agree that Matt Damon and Leo Di Caprio have not aged well. The latter's face has become bloated, like Jesse Jackson's. Another formerly handsome male lead whose good looks bailed on him is Brendan Fraser.
    , @Alden
Matt Damon was never handsome. He always looked like a wimp and a nerd with no neck. He always has had nice hair though, thanks to a good hair dresser and al those pretty shades of shiny brown.

In other words, all interactions between minorities and members of the majority can be recast in terms of injury leading eventually to reparations apparently extending to the seemingly banal commonplace of not being harassed in the workplace. The word racism signifying nothing more than an offer to exchange value, or seek resources, under the assumptions of the ever expanding GREAT SHAKEDOWN.

We may already be at the point where having no taste and screwing anything that moves regardless of any and all physical characteristics--including race--is a sign of enlightenment. Because we live in a sick culture. Likely only white men will be called out for applying taste when choosing sex partners, just as no one cares when blacks associate exclusively with other blacks. That's not discriminatory; it's solidarity, brotha! Or, if it ever were thought to be a bad thing, it'd be Whitey's fault.

Admittedly, black women are incensed by the fact that their men chase women of other races. Sometimes they complain out of school about it. But they'd never go so far as to put them in the same shame corner as white men.

If I read this right, not harassing black women while harassing white women is a manifestation of racism. It seems to me that the underlying message is "White women are getting too much attention. Even if I wasn't sexually harassed, people need to pay attention to me."

Is Esquire that desperate for articles?

If I read this right, not harassing black women while harassing white women is a manifestation of racism.

But it could be that’s really upset cuz black men act the same way. Preferring white over black.

What you describe is very close to an episode in The Assemblywomen by Aristophanes, where it’s determined that natural desire based on attraction is too inequitable, and has to be regulated by the state. By law the old and otherwise undesirable will get first crack at the nubile young men and women, against the latter’s will if necessary.

It all comes about because the women of Athens, under the sway of the radical egalitarian Praxagora, seize political power.

It’s supposed to be an outrageous comedy, but in fact the logic of the way Aristophanes works out of the implications of his set up is unassailable. There is no way a society devoted to state regulation will allow the most unruly human association, based on erotic attraction, to remain unregulated. And to your point, Stebbing, there would be no logical reason to limit the rule to attraction between (as opposed to within) the sexes.

We may be living in the early stages of Praxagora’s world.

Matt Damon is 47. I don't expect to look anywhere near as good as I did at age 23-30, and neither should he. And he doesn't look bad for 47.

Take someone renowned for looking good at an older age, Sean Connery. Compare Zardoz era Connery or great wig Connery in Hunt for Red October to Connery in earlier roles such as Darby O'Gill or Bond. There is no question. Early Connery is going to pick up women wherever he goes. Older Connery is a "good looking older man".

Whatever happened to the White Man's sexual exploitation of powerless black women?I though that was one of the major themes of American history.

Ah, I see. White women are the *most* coveted, which is supposedly "problematic." So even if Charlie Rose had sexually harassed this woman, it wouldn't be enough. She would have to have experienced harassment equivalent to her white co-workers. Preferably, she'd be harassed the most, because there's much ground to be made up if we're going to redress the historical imbalance of Whitey's white-centric "gendered" exploitation.

On the plus side for this angry Black woman, there wasn’t a single commercial on this weekend that wasn’t with a bi-racial couple, several with White men, Black women, one of those the loving couple depicted in BED for crying out loud, another, a gay-looking long-hair White boy in a Nissan, rescuing the half-Black chick from a Black biker bar. So, if this ugly troglodyte hangs in there long enough, lame-ass White men, now given commercial permission, will be hitting on her any day now. White men, the nerdy types, suitably beaten down now, with no White women that want them, will once again have mates.

I assume the commercials give the White boys permission. Is that what TPTB really want? See, what I want is big-dick, muscular Blacks in commercials with tiny, good-looking, Black-man loving White chicks, the blonder the better. Think Kelly and Michael Strahan. I think we should encourage THAT demographic coupling even more.

I actually suspect that the people at Esquire who chose to publish this woman’s crazy op-ed did so to cynically generate clicks and attention controversy rather than out of genuine sympathy for this woman’s story.

Is Esquire that desperate for articles?

It’s always this – for people with this worldview, anything other than a celebration of her for simply existing is an indictment of our entire society.

This is the reason we have the bonkers protests on college campuses and totally insane commentary in the media. The critical theorists who have taken over have created a culture where a huge percentage of the population believes itself to be aggrieved victims whose feelings need to be accounted for more than anyone else. When that doesn’t happen, it just reinforces their feelings of entitlement and grievance.

That’s because DiCaprio and Damon are “boyish” looking, while Clooney looks manly/mature. Boyish-looking is good when you are a boy, adolescent, or even a young man, not so good when you are in your middle age and beyond. It just looks weird.

I always find it odd when DiCaprio or Damon play tough guys – it just doesn’t work for me (but apparently work$ for them and their movie producers). James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, Idris Elba as Stringer Bell, Clint Eastwood as any tough guy he has ever played, Jack Nicholson as “Irish-American mobster Costello” (i.e., Whitey Bulger) – all believable. DiCaprio and Damon as tough Mass Staties – not so much. Not to say they’re bad actors, it’s just that their boyish faces don’t fit those roles.

At least DiCaprio and Damon are supposed to be Irish in the Departed. The extremely goyish-looking DiCaprio was so miscast as Jordan Belfort in the Wolf of Wall Street that it had to be more than his Hollywood leading-boy appeal.

OT, but Matt Damon, having escaped swirling down the toilet bowl with Weinstein by the slimmest of margins, has the surprising lack of sense to actually open his mouth again. He's not going to get a second chance.

    https://www.avclub.com/matt-damon-cant-stop-saying-stupid-shit-about-sexual-ha-1821422987

Matt Damon has aged weirdly. It isn't that he has aged poorly, but unattractively. He isn't fat/wrinkled/gray/haggard, but rather just some average looking middle-aged schmoe whereas when he was young, he was quite handsome.

Somewhat the same with DiCaprio, although he never was too good looking to begin with. Sad, but neither of those guys can look forward to a Clooney-esque senescence.

Is there a name for this phenomena, kind of a reverse ugly duckling deal.

I agree that Matt Damon and Leo Di Caprio have not aged well. The latter’s face has become bloated, like Jesse Jackson’s. Another formerly handsome male lead whose good looks bailed on him is Brendan Fraser.

Ronald Reagan was another star whose youthful good looks didn't last the way, say, Cary Grant's did.

Reagan had a fleshy face that tended to droop when he came back from the Army. But he had a lot of moxie to then find a whole new career when he'd been that close to movie superstardom. It's kind of like how many star athletes built really impressive non-sports careers for themselves after their playing days were done?

A couple of years ago an East Asian-heritage psychologist published a paper commenting on the uniquely high and unjustified self-esteem of black women (his suffering was legendary, even in academia).
This is really important because the official leftoid explanation of black failure is supposed uniquely low self-esteem.

Rebecca Carroll's parents are white. She was adopted. Her husband is white.

    http://mybrownbaby.com/2014/01/transracial-adoption-and-race/

Thanks for linking Ms. Carroll’s piece “Mom, Why Is Everyone Here White?” What My Son Knows About Race That I Never Did at MyBrownBaby.com. It provides valuable context for the Esquire article that is the topic of the original post.

By Ms. Carroll’s account, the white couple who adopted her were and are loving, conscientious, and capable parents.

My mother smiled, ever the undying enthusiast and supporter of my father…

If this leaves you wondering what Ms. Carroll really thinks about her white parents, her white brother, and the white neighbors and white acquaintances of her home town, click the link. Fortunately, slip-in-the-shiv-and-twist isn’t the only note Ms.

Derbyshire’s blackity-black-black quip seems to encompass Ms.

Every time blacks make some type of delusion statement that way overrates their skills and/or underrates their faults, I’m reminded of a study I came across 5 to 10 years ago. Researchers surveyed students who had taken a math placement test – maybe SAT. They compared the students’ guesses of how well they did versus the actual results and segmented by race (probably couldn’t do that now).

The researchers found that the better a group of students were at the test, the more they underestimated their score; the worse they were, the more they overestimated it.

Not surprisingly Korean-Americans scored the highest and were the group that most underestimated their final score. Black males scored the lowest and were the group that most overestimated their final scores.

The conclusion was that to be good at something you have to understand what is involved with mastering it and you constantly need to push yourself to do better. Underestimating your performance helps that process. On the other hand, people who aren’t good at something likely don’t know what is involved in mastering it and over confidence gets in the way of pushing yourself.

You would have to be pretty down on yourself if your chief ambition in life was to show the world that you're hot enough to warrant unsolicited back rubs from a lanky, ball-peen nosed, pseudo-intellectual douche noodle like Charlie Rose. And Carroll is simply not that marginalized or desperate, which is why I do not take her story at face value. This is more a case of her needing to find some reason, any reason whatsoever, to focus attention on herself by claiming the scepter of sacred victimhood. Her raging ego is the hybrid spawn of personal vanity and cultural decadence.

The only word I can think of to describe such a state is "Hell." If you scrape off the top of the honeycomb on Ms. Carroll and her set, you find the pulsating larvae of incipient damnation aborning. This twisted need to feed one's self-importance on the wrenched-together pieces of an obviously ridiculous narrative, is a foretaste of the bottomless void that will haunt her for all eternity. In the end, there will be no more narratives to exploit, no more articles to write, no one to dupe, no freebies, no gravy train, no body, and no time. Only the hunger will remain.

I think the word you are looking for is 'mulata'.

She went to work for Rose 20 years ago, when she was attractive enough to be harassed.

Most of what she says is bullshit, but I it is not objectively true that black women are less sexually attractive.

Sexual attraction is just an unconscious reflex and white American men have certain preoccupations, for example they love big tits, and they are scared of wearing Speedos for swimming, apparently because American men look at the outline of each other's penises to compare for size, and they do not find black women sexy.

German men, on the other hand, often espouse the theory that "the darker the berry, the sweeter the juice" and tennis player Boris Becker is well known as an exponent of this dark art.

Black women have smooth skin, age better than white women, have better bodies if they are not obese, and with additional testosterone, they are more orgasmic.

It is all a matter of taste, early conditioning, cultural influence, and unconscious drives.

There was a case like this in California's thoroughly corrupt prison system. Everyone was "doing" superiors and colleagues for fun and favors.

A few wall flowers were left out from the sexual merry-go-round and ended up with worse assignments and were passed over for promotions.

RESULT: The courts agreed to extend the definition of sexual harassment victims to include the other woman who was NOT importuned for sex by her boss and missed out on promotions and other job benefits as a result.

What could have possibly given him the impression you had a personal agenda. What an outrageous accusation.

I have been asked why I didn’t just leave the show—which is emblematic of the still and enduring disconnect of what it means for black women in predominantly white spaces who have the audacity to want to do more than survive. I wanted to succeed, to be good at my work.

An alternative explanation would be that she wasn’t able to make what she was getting from Charlie anywhere else. A better question would be why Charlie didn’t fire her. As I reread the article, I wonder if he didn’t fire her, she slips in that she only worked on his show for two years.

Even if black women are less attractive regardless of racial characteristics, fact remains that most people, including fellow blacks, are less attracted to even the best-looking black women. That has to do with racism, broadly construed. But this is one of many cases in which racism is not a bad thing.

Well, she does have a point, he probably is a racist, at least latently. He is the 75yo son of North Carolina tobacco farmers, well into adulthood by the time of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Most of the non-racist horndogs I've encountered seemed to be gleefully indiscriminate wrt to race/ethnicity/religion/creed/nation of origin/foreign language speakers/etc in their horndoggery. So it actually does say something about the guy.

    Racist as well as sexist.

    Sorry.

I guess it depends on what you mean by “horndog.” Are they indiscriminate by definition?

Most everybody has racial preferences in human association. Sexually, as well as in every other context. You don’t have to have tobacco farming in your blood.

We may already be at the point where having no taste and screwing anything that moves regardless of any and all physical characteristics–including race–is a sign of enlightenment. Because we live in a sick culture. Likely only white men will be called out for applying taste when choosing sex partners, just as no one cares when blacks associate exclusively with other blacks. That’s not discriminatory; it’s solidarity, brotha! Or, if it ever were thought to be a bad thing, it’d be Whitey’s fault.

Admittedly, black women are incensed by the fact that their men chase women of other races. Sometimes they complain out of school about it. But they’d never go so far as to put them in the same shame corner as white men.

Well, that's one circle old Strom Thurmond managed to square.

Whatever happened to the White Man’s sexual exploitation of powerless black women?I though that was one of the major themes of American history.

Ah, I see. White women are the *most* coveted, which is supposedly “problematic.” So even if Charlie Rose had sexually harassed this woman, it wouldn’t be enough. She would have to have experienced harassment equivalent to her white co-workers. Preferably, she’d be harassed the most, because there’s much ground to be made up if we’re going to redress the historical imbalance of Whitey’s white-centric “gendered” exploitation.

This Foucault/Derrida ‘power’ reductionism and associated power jargon literary culture like Marx’s ‘Class’ reductionism was tedious and boring from the moment it arrived on the scene. Can’t we find an efficient and easily understood means of mocking it since it doesn’t seem to be going away?

That guff has been parodied endlessly, but it’s sorta mockery-proof. Firstly, because it is an Ivory Tower thing, and those people are well-ensconced. They get food on their table every night whether or not they make sense.

More importantly, because they don’t believe it, anyway. I’m pretty sure it’s a game for the initiated, and a means of humiliation for the rest of us.

Next, the homosexuals on Charlie Rose’s team accuse him of being homophobic for not sexually harassing them, yes?

The logical end point of all this is the state mandating that white heterosexual men make themselves sexually available to members of each and every ‘minority’ group.

Compulsory homosexuality - from each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs!

And they will forever recite to you versions of “facts don’t matter, only feelings matter.”

Specifically their feelings matter and your facts don’t. There’s some Maya Angelou quote relevant to this but aging memory can be merciful and I have forgotten it.

Many if not most black women could dramatically increase their attractiveness with appetite control, moderate exercise, a bit of proper makeup, and development of a more feminine character. Sometimes, ugly is a choice.

Every time blacks make some type of delusion statement that way overrates their skills and/or underrates their faults, I'm reminded of a study I came across 5 to 10 years ago. Researchers surveyed students who had taken a math placement test - maybe SAT. They compared the students' guesses of how well they did versus the actual results and segmented by race (probably couldn't do that now).

On the other hand, people who aren't good at something likely don't know what is involved in mastering it and over confidence gets in the way of pushing yourself.

    Dunning-Krueger effect.

She deserved Charlie Rose, and Charlie Rose deserved her.

    https://www.macfound.org/fellows/773/

    Seems like an interesting guy.

It’s interesting, i.e. depressing, to see how the Zeitgeist exemplified by Ms. Carroll’s article intersects here with the phenomenon of Liberal Bourgeois White Flight to rural New England (i.e. Bernie Sanders, Ben and Jerry, Thurston Moore, etc.)

I knew at least one family of very very left-leaning SWPL whites in small-town New England who adopted at least one non-white baby. Surprise, surprise, genetics and heredity are real things.

I see real potential here, lawsuits for lack of sexual harassment on the basis of discriminatory intent. Nothing like the capacity to sue people for going either up or down the street.

Given that "structural racism" and "structural misogyny" are going nowhere for decades, we could be on the verge of a full employment scenario for trial lawyers.

BTW, doesn't seem like Charlie was down on the bros, either, so clear heteropatriarchy homophobia too! Man should be burned at the stake.

This “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” aspect of harassment reminds me of the story of the member of Louis XVIII’s bodyguard who fought three duels in one day: first, with a man who had offended him by looking at him sideways; next, with one who had looked him directly in the eye; and finally, with a stranger who had passed by him without deigning to look upon him at all.

I’ve seen studies reporting that, on average, East Asian women are the most attractive. White women, OTOH, dominate at the far right of the bell curve, which is why they do so well in modeling, dance and acting.

After growing up in an essentially all-white town, then moving to Hong Kong for my adult years, I think this is true.

Hong Kong and other east Asian cities are packed with slim, pleasant-looking young women, i.e. 6s, 7s, and 8s. A head-turning 9 or 10 requires something special or distinctive, a la Bacon's 'There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion'. Such distinctive strangeness is more likely where there is a wide variety of hair and eye colors.

    , @üeljang
That is total BS. Distinctively East Asian facial features are ugly as f*ck (at least when they occur on women); even East Asians prefer Caucasoid facial features. East Asian females' secondary sexual characteristics also tend to be relatively undeveloped, which means less T&A and a more boyish WHR. Most of them look sort of like depigmented black women with wiry straight hair, to be honest.

The reality is the precise opposite of what The Last Real Calvinist has described. The median white woman is pretty or beautiful, whereas the median East Asian woman is ugly and looks like a cheap whore (regardless of whatever other merits she may possess), yet ethereally beautiful "10"s are notably more frequent among East Asians (though these are the ones who lack most patently East Asian physical features).

In this case, “Black women's fatal flaw: toxic levels of self-esteem mixed with manifest unattractiveness and lack of any driving fear of failure or doubt.”

A couple of years ago an East Asian-heritage psychologist published a paper commenting on the uniquely high and unjustified self-esteem of black women (his suffering was legendary, even in academia).

This androgynous mulattress is not attractive enough to be sexually harassed. Of course, Rose could have called her "hot chocolate" as Bill O'Reilly allegedly did to a black female working at FOX, but he would have still gotten in trouble for that, too. You just can't win with blacks.

It's just like when you're kind and understanding towards blacks they say it's "patronizing" but when you treat them like everyone else and hold them to white standards then that's racism and institutional slavery.

This androgynous mulattress is not attractive enough to be sexually harassed.

I think the word you are looking for is ‘mulata’.

She went to work for Rose 20 years ago, when she was attractive enough to be harassed.

Most of what she says is bullshit, but I it is not objectively true that black women are less sexually attractive.

Sexual attraction is just an unconscious reflex and white American men have certain preoccupations, for example they love big tits, and they are scared of wearing Speedos for swimming, apparently because American men look at the outline of each other’s penises to compare for size, and they do not find black women sexy.

German men, on the other hand, often espouse the theory that “the darker the berry, the sweeter the juice” and tennis player Boris Becker is well known as an exponent of this dark art.

Black women have smooth skin, age better than white women, have better bodies if they are not obese, and with additional testosterone, they are more orgasmic.

It is all a matter of taste, early conditioning, cultural influence, and unconscious drives.

Pure sub-Saharan black women are no one's idea of beautiful, and I mean literally no one.

"The attractive Black woman" is (almost invariably) a mulatta, or more precisely a selective result of several generations of intermix between Blacks, Whites and mixed race people, often with a little Chinese, Japanese or Thai kicked in.

This results in people with various degrees of "blackness" in skin color but essentially European features and bone structure.

To produce such people required intermatings that produced a lot more hideous people. A stroll in the right neighborhoods of cities where interracial marriage and couples were long tolerated will show you some truly horrible looking people. You have to feel anger at the decisions that inflicted such pain on these people themselves and on those that have to deal with them. Skin tones ranging from "formula fed baby poop" to "used tampon found in parking lot after several days" to "Casey's Hamburger Pizza, Bud Light and Pink Donut Vomit" with extensive mottling over some bizarre cranial and jaw shapes, are not rare.

It's very much like a dog breed. All our dog breeds registered by Kennel Clubs are the product of many, many matings of different dogs followed by large numbers of puppies that were drowned or had their necks broken shortly after birth , mating the dog and bitch closest to the ideal and repeating the procedure over and over. Now, if someone were breeding a new dog breed, the unsuccessful but otherwise healthy pups might just be spayed or neutered and given away as pets, but back then culling them was the only alternative. With humans, we don't do that , and I am not suggesting we do so, but we do subject a lot of people to awful lives when we cross the race lines.

This will offend many people, but it's the truth.

I've known a lot of decent black women I thought were good human beings and felt an affinity for, but never of a sexual nature, even before I became racially conscious. (On the other hand, I particularly fancied Japanese girls for casual sexual encounters, and had quite a few before before becoming racially conscious, something I am not at all proud of today.) I'm convinced "jungle fever" is mostly a mix of wanting to defy social conventions and the lure of the forbidden: even though now it's officially okay, most people have an inner revulsion to it that they take as prohibition functionally.

Then too, the desire of a white man for a particular, famous and /or wealthy black female is not about her blackness but her celebrity. Or a desire to emulate famous men who have dipped a toe in the black pool. They want a Halle Berry or a Janet Jackson or a Beyonce, they don't want Laqueefisha who works down at the Go Chicken Go on Troost. Fortunately, a fear of an asswhipping or worse usually deters them for settling for Laqueefisha.
    , @KenH
    Mulattress, mulatta, potato, pototo.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there are attractive black women, but not this whiner and SJW. Also, black men have a preference for white women and seem to be choosing average looking white women over pretty black women. Hell, pretty much every race has a strong preference and fetish for white women which is why mass third world immigration is such a danger to the West.

There are a lot of black women who are morbidly obese and just not that attractive which is why they hate on white women so much. The most attractive black women often have some white genes.

It is all a matter of taste, early conditioning, cultural influence, and unconscious drives.

    Age?

That is the thing. Matt Damon doesn't look old, weathered or shopworn now, just much less handsome. Plenty of people remain quite attractive at his age, just somehow it didn't work out for him.

He appears complete innocuous now, not bad or good, if he weren't recognized as Matt Damon you wouldn't give him a second glance walking by him on the street.

Matt Damon is 47. I don’t expect to look anywhere near as good as I did at age 23-30, and neither should he. And he doesn’t look bad for 47.

Take someone renowned for looking good at an older age, Sean Connery. Compare Zardoz era Connery or great wig Connery in Hunt for Red October to Connery in earlier roles such as Darby O’Gill or Bond. There is no question. Early Connery is going to pick up women wherever he goes. Older Connery is a “good looking older man”.

Year by year, we come to look closer to the guy who’s going to be laying in the coffin, and eventually there we are. We can’t wind back the miles on the clock.

Well, of course you can prefer one photograph over another, but that doesn't prove anything. Actually the first women could be a mulata, as her hair is awfully dark for a Caucasian, but obviously the photographer is showing her in a seductive pose, whereas the second women appears to be wearing military uniform having just completed a long march in heatwave conditions.

Given a rich woman and a poor woman of any race, the rich woman is nearly always going to look better, due to access to dental care, coiffure, make-up, clothing, diet, exercise, lack of having to do manual labor under a hot sun, and so on. However the connoisseur of feminine attractiveness will try to overlook the superficial curb appeal and examine the soundness of the underlying structure!

On the plus side for this angry Black woman, there wasn't a single commercial on this weekend that wasn't with a bi-racial couple, several with White men, Black women, one of those the loving couple depicted in BED for crying out loud, another, a gay-looking long-hair White boy in a Nissan, rescuing the half-Black chick from a Black biker bar.

I recommend the Hallmark Cable Channel that now does 24/7 Christian theme movies – classics and new shows that are mostly g rated romance themes.

The actors and actresses are all very good looking young White people – might as well be watching the Winter Olympics. The plots of the new shows aren’t really my cup of tea, but I just have this on without the sound on and it’s nice.

    Have a White Christmas everyone.

Thankyou, I’ll follow the play up.

Had never heard of it before. Possibly because people thought it so far-fetched as to be ridiculous.

Oh, is that what she wrote?

To be clear, I’m not suggesting it would have been preferable for Charlie to have preyed upon me, too

She seems to really like her pops, no grudges there.

Well, CERTIFIED GENIUS TA-NEHISI COATES has basically proven that White people are the inheritors of the ancient wizardry of Melniboné and lost Valusia:

But whereas his forebears carried whiteness like an ancestral talisman, Trump cracked the glowing amulet open, releasing its eldritch energies.

After growing up in an essentially all-white town, then moving to Hong Kong for my adult years, I think this is true.

Hong Kong and other east Asian cities are packed with slim, pleasant-looking young women, i.e. 6s, 7s, and 8s. A head-turning 9 or 10 requires something special or distinctive, a la Bacon’s ‘There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion’. Such distinctive strangeness is more likely where there is a wide variety of hair and eye colors.

Everything is a manifestation of racism.

Think of all the verbiage we'd have to endure about "slavery" and "white man's access to black women's bodies" and such if Charlie Rose actually laid a paw upon her. Let us take a moment and be thankful for Charlie's good taste.

Uncle Charlie does have a “small” (500 acres) farm on the edge of Oxford, NC .

I’m sure he could have made her “endure slavery” and yield 100% “access to her body” in the “guest” quarters had he only made the proper arrangements for her and we’d be hearing nothing from her.

I guess we are to surmise that he’s allergic to chocolate and we all know that allergies are immutable.

Well, of course you can prefer one photograph over another, but that doesn’t prove anything.

Man should be burned at the stake.

lawsuits for lack of sexual harassment

There was a case like this in California’s thoroughly corrupt prison system. Everyone was “doing” superiors and colleagues for fun and favors.

David Letterman got away with his sexual harassment, but he did have a few critics. The biggest criticism was that if all the interns see one intern sleeping with the boss, they feel they might have to keep up for career reasons.

What really saved Letterman is that he wasn't an employee of CBS per se. He owned his own production company and therefore his own show. CBS simply bought the show from Letterman. This is in contrast to everyone else in late night, whose shows are owned by their networks.

The victory of feminism. Men settle and women never do. I see it all the time now that a young fit attractive man is walking next to a woman who has given up. And evety time that guy is probably glad to be with her. I never see an unattractive man enthusiastically attended by a woman who knows how a scale works (I don't live or work near the few centers where this is semi-normal as a result of extreme money and power).

You can see it anytime, just turn on your television.

Kidding of course–leave it off. Throw it out. Etc.

blockquote>In America, the most desirable woman in the room—the most sacred, coveted, enshrined woman—has always been the white woman.

The resentment really bubbles over; ‘sacred, coveted, enshrined’ and yada yada. White women are ‘enshrined’? Really? ‘Sacred’? This person is frothing at the lips about white women in particular and whites in general. Complains to be complaining, a typical trait. A good person not to have as a co-worker.

Racial envy. White guys have some respect, occasionally practice monogamy, don’t routinely refer to women as bitches and hos, etc.

This "damned if you do, damned if you don't" aspect of harassment reminds me of the story of the member of Louis XVIII’s bodyguard who fought three duels in one day: first, with a man who had offended him by looking at him sideways; next, with one who had looked him directly in the eye; and finally, with a stranger who had passed by him without deigning to look upon him at all.

This androgynous mulattress is not attractive enough to be sexually harassed.

It is all a matter of taste, early conditioning, cultural influence, and unconscious drives.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2346915/White-men-discuss-attraction-black-women-Dark-Girls-documentary.html

Pure sub-Saharan black women are no one’s idea of beautiful, and I mean literally no one.

“The attractive Black woman” is (almost invariably) a mulatta, or more precisely a selective result of several generations of intermix between Blacks, Whites and mixed race people, often with a little Chinese, Japanese or Thai kicked in.

This results in people with various degrees of “blackness” in skin color but essentially European features and bone structure.

Skin tones ranging from “formula fed baby poop” to “used tampon found in parking lot after several days” to “Casey’s Hamburger Pizza, Bud Light and Pink Donut Vomit” with extensive mottling over some bizarre cranial and jaw shapes, are not rare.

It’s very much like a dog breed. With humans, we don’t do that , and I am not suggesting we do so, but we do subject a lot of people to awful lives when we cross the race lines.

This will offend many people, but it’s the truth.

I’ve known a lot of decent black women I thought were good human beings and felt an affinity for, but never of a sexual nature, even before I became racially conscious. (On the other hand, I particularly fancied Japanese girls for casual sexual encounters, and had quite a few before before becoming racially conscious, something I am not at all proud of today.) I’m convinced “jungle fever” is mostly a mix of wanting to defy social conventions and the lure of the forbidden: even though now it’s officially okay, most people have an inner revulsion to it that they take as prohibition functionally.

Then too, the desire of a white man for a particular, famous and /or wealthy black female is not about her blackness but her celebrity. Or a desire to emulate famous men who have dipped a toe in the black pool. They want a Halle Berry or a Janet Jackson or a Beyonce, they don’t want Laqueefisha who works down at the Go Chicken Go on Troost. Fortunately, a fear of an asswhipping or worse usually deters them for settling for Laqueefisha.

I agree that Matt Damon and Leo Di Caprio have not aged well. The latter's face has become bloated, like Jesse Jackson's. Another formerly handsome male lead whose good looks bailed on him is Brendan Fraser.

Ronald Reagan was another star whose youthful good looks didn’t last the way, say, Cary Grant’s did.

Reagan had a fleshy face that tended to droop when he came back from the Army. But he had a lot of moxie to then find a whole new career when he’d been that close to movie superstardom. It’s kind of like how many star athletes built really impressive non-sports careers for themselves after their playing days were done?

re nexus between race and relative attractiveness: I've seen studies reporting that, on average, East Asian women are the most attractive. White women, OTOH, dominate at the far right of the bell curve, which is why they do so well in modeling, dance and acting.

That is total BS. Distinctively East Asian facial features are ugly as f*ck (at least when they occur on women); even East Asians prefer Caucasoid facial features. East Asian females’ secondary sexual characteristics also tend to be relatively undeveloped, which means less T&A and a more boyish WHR. Most of them look sort of like depigmented black women with wiry straight hair, to be honest.

The reality is the precise opposite of what The Last Real Calvinist has described. The median white woman is pretty or beautiful, whereas the median East Asian woman is ugly and looks like a cheap whore (regardless of whatever other merits she may possess), yet ethereally beautiful “10″s are notably more frequent among East Asians (though these are the ones who lack most patently East Asian physical features).

David Letterman got away with his sexual harassment, but he did have a few critics. The biggest criticism was that if all the interns see one intern sleeping with the boss, they feel they might have to keep up for career reasons.

What really saved Letterman is that he wasn’t an employee of CBS per se. He owned his own production company and therefore his own show. CBS simply bought the show from Letterman. This is in contrast to everyone else in late night, whose shows are owned by their networks.

Matt Damon was never handsome. He always looked like a wimp and a nerd with no neck. He always has had nice hair though, thanks to a good hair dresser and al those pretty shades of shiny brown.

Fat-shaming is hugely in style in Japan. It isn't at all uncommon in Japan for casual acquaintances to take notice of excessive weight and comment upon it. Of course it is done in a very Japanese style, but overweight people in Japan get called out constantly.

The BMI of Japanese women has actually gone down the past 30 years, a singular feat for an advanced, or probably any, society today. Once again, Japan is sui generis, not too surprising for an insular, homogeneous island nation of 120 million.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "horndog." Are they indiscriminate by definition?

Most everybody has racial preferences in human association. Sexually, as well as in every other context. You don't have to have tobacco farming in your blood.

I guess it depends on what you mean by “horndog.” Are they indiscriminate by definition?

    More or less.

    No true horndog . . .

That’s just leftist psychobabble. The male member is impervious to all this crap and stands at attention when it sees a woman that it likes.

    Not discriminatory intent, disparate impact.

At the time, there was little to no recognition of what it meant to be black and female in a workplace dominated by white men.

But wouldn't that have been have resulted in an abortive attempt at man-splaining? Besides, what White man could ever grasp the unique essence that is the black female experience? I guess being treated like any other national broadcast television show crew member just wasn't enough.

no recognition of what it meant to be black and female in a workplace dominated by white men.

Cult-Marxist SJWs are always making statements like this–but WTF does it mean? Blacks already have their tanks filled up with self-esteem. Meanwhile we’re supposed to recognize what it means to be black. I dunno. What does it mean to be black? How would I know such a thing? I’m not black.

And you know the first minute you’d make an attempt to “recognize,” you’d be accused of something, e.g. not knowing, not understanding, cultural appropriation, or some other cardinal sin… No one would even bother as it’s a trap. It’s the :”Jump!” “How high?” game.
