From GatesNotes: The blog of Bill Gates:

Youthful Energy
The world’s youngest continent
By Bill Gates | September 10, 2018

I’ve been traveling to Africa regularly for more than two decades. Whenever I go, I’m struck by the huge numbers of young people I see—everywhere from the biggest cities to the remotest villages.

This is no accident. Sixty percent of Africans are under the age of 25. The median age is 19. (By comparison, in North America it’s 35.) And the number of young people in Africa is expected to grow in the decades ahead.

The other thing that always strikes me during my trips to Africa is the unbridled optimism of this young generation. …

This is also no accident. Young people are often the most optimistic people I meet. They are ambitious. They think in innovative ways and are eager to learn the newest technologies. They are also willing to take risks. To see Africa through their eyes is to see a continent brimming with potential and opportunity.

A commenter interjects: “And that continent would be Europe.”

So, no need to worry about The Graph. Youthful, risk-taking energy will carry all before it.

They Shall Overcome.

Personally, I suspect that Bill and Melinda Gates know about and worry about African overpopulation more than I do, and they are playing a complex 4-D chess game to try to do something about it.

But I worry that nobody else will notice what they are worried about. How about if they talked some other philanthropist, like, say, Warren Buffett into playing bad cop while they play good cop? For example, Buffett could call out the president of Tanzania’s recent call to get rid of contraception in his country.

    AKA..."fool."

A very good democratically principled law would be that wealthy people shouldn't be allowed to help or engineer society unless all or most negative consequences of their actions were borne (or at least felt) by themselves personally. I know it wouldn't be practical to enforce such a law, but it would be the essence of justice.

  6. The old Bill Gates wasn’t this stupid–quite the reverse. He was obsessed with IQ–are our guys smarter than their guys?

I’d be very suprised if Gates doesn’t understand the African IQ problem. I’m sure he probably thinks more of that is amenable to nutritional and educational uplift than i do. But still, i’m sure he’s aware that the “raw material” there is poor.

So i’m unclear what the point of this sort of clueless hucksterism is–even understanding Bill’s an uber good white. Especially since his wife–who is more of an annoying SJW and has no doubt pw’d him a bit–is pretty openly on the feminist, access to contraception, population control bandwagon.

Bill Gates also looks like a lesbian.

Barbara Jordan was a Black lesbian Democrat Party congresswoman from Texas who called for patriotic immigration reductions in the 1990s.

I side with the late Barbara Jordan on immigration over that lesbian-looking billionaire globalizer immigration fanatic Bill Gates.

I dunno, AD. Bill "Bellevue-Cambridge-Redmond" Gates may indeed have never spent much time around the sons of the sub-Sahara. And whatever time he has spent is probably outweighed ten-to-one by the time that he has spent in various diversity-booster venues. Despite his singular wealth, intelligence and access to the knowledge of all human history, he might really be this clueless.

Drinking 3 to 4 Diet Cokes per day is shrinking his brain...

The researchers looked at people who consumed more than two sugary drinks a day of any type—soda, fruit juice, and other soft drinks—or more than three per week of soda alone. Among that “high intake” group, they found multiple signs of accelerated brain aging, including smaller overall brain volume, poorer episodic memory, and a shrunken hippocampus, all risk factors for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers also found that higher intake of diet soda—at least one per day—was associated with smaller brain volume.

Gates and other go-getters like him understand all about IQ. I am sure when Microsoft was a startup, his decision on whether to hire someone was based upon how he perceived their intelligence. Isn't it Google that used to have ( maybe they still do) puzzle-solving questions they put on a a website for prospective employees?

All of these tech entrepreneurs are high IQ people who have spent large parts of their lives being around dumber people. The first time they probably felt comfortable was when they arrived at Harvard or Stanford and found themselves in the presence of others with IQs north of 140. Recall how the adopted Steve Jobs, who loved his adoptive parents, nevertheless knew he was operating on a different plane from them and his adoptive sister.

So for them to pretend that Africa is full of all this human capital is complete BS. They know a large chunk of their own families don't even have the brains to work for them. But they choose to ignore this in Africans because they don't want to take the political flak that would certainly come their way if they acted any other way then they currently are. It's just not worth it. What would they gain? Dr. Watson, a Nobel laureate, spoke out a few years ago and look what it got him. Gates and others don't need or want that kind of reception.

  7. People have been saying this for at least 1960. When I was young leading scholars and politicians really seemed to believe that the youthful, dynamic, resource-rich third world would rapidly overtake and surpass the old, stagnating Western societies. I seriously doubt that anyone, least of all Bill Gates, really believes that any more.

  9. Steve Sailer had this to say about Bill Gates and Shelly Adelson and Warren Buffett after the billionaire three had written an op-ed in the New York Times calling for more mass legal immigration and an amnesty for illegal alien invaders(2014):

Adelson ($28.5 billion in net worth according to the Forbes 400), Buffett ($58.5 billion), and Gates ($72.0 billion) don’t even have the guts to mention Professor David Brat by name, much less admit the galvanizing innovation of Brat’s campaign: explicitly running against “immigration reform” because it’s a Cheap Labor policy benefiting crony capitalists.

    Tweet from 2014:

    http://www.unz.com/isteve/a-confederacy-of-gluttons-adelson-buffett-and-gates-demand-cheap-labor/

President Trump at this very moment has to tell Kevin Yoder and the GOP Cheap Labor Faction that they will not get the massive increases in guest worker visa foreigners and green card foreigners and other sneaky ways of pouring more foreigners into the United States.

Bill Gates and the billionaire mass immigration fanatic faction want to flood the United States with Sub-Saharan Africans and other foreigners.

Of course “the graph” doesn’t quiet mean what many seem to think it does. The population of Africa won’t rise much higher. It isn’t the lower half of an endlessly rising time series curve. Its more like of the first half of a sine wave. This is the upward side. Soon it will peak and start back down again.

African population is like the population dynamics of lemmings. Boom and crash. The number of people will be contained by some scarce resource that is difficult to import – probably water. Africa already has water shortage problems. The popular press will write articles about bringing in ice bergs from Antarctica and other fanciful schemes but some factor will soon curtail the population explosion.

Of course it will be messy. Millions will die. Americans will try to help but all outside efforts will prove insufficient. As the continent undergoes stress there will be war . Some of the warfare may be nuclear. When life is cheap enough the aversion to biological warfare will likely abate. Smallpox still lives in the lab.

a tidal wave that will destroy the West before it falls back again in a mass die-off
    , @Dave Pinsen
I remember the Ethiopian famine of the '80s. The West's response then was to send food aid, get musicians to hold big concerts to raise money for Africa, etc. I don't remember Bob Geldof or Bono arguing back then that the solution was for the West to take in refugees from Africa, but that might be what lefties will argue for next time.
    , @Joe Walker
And do you think the black Africans are going to sit around and wait for death or might they migrate to Europe and other white regions of the world?
    , @J.Ross
That was how it used to work before the heights of civilization were devoted to saving Africans from the consequences of their own excesses. In that distant time, people in the West also had children. We are already suffering the load of people who in previous eras would have been lost to plagues or famines.
    , @AnotherDad

No, the African population is going to get quite a bit higher.

Of course you're right long term. African population is not going to be "endlessly rising". But the peak is not imminent.

Africa is a huge place. It's almost 12 million square miles, three times the size of the US (inc. Alaska). In other words, while some areas are very heavily populated Africa's overall population density is not a whole lot larger than the US.

By comparison Africa is about 9 times the size of India ... which has a higher population! In other words, there is still "headroom" in Africa.

Do i expect African population to get to the 4 billion in the graph? No. Fertility is coming down, albeit much more slowly than it did in other places in the world. But i expect as population pressure mounts it will come down a bit quicker. The West will turn around, change it's tune and push population control again, when there's famine again.

But Africa is no where near it's peak. It will certainly see the 2 billion and probably quite a bit beyond that. How ugly it gets? How will its population come into balance? Who knows?

But short term?--that's easy, way way more Africans.
    , @Redman
Sounds optimistic..:). But seriously, how do you know?

The west has already helped this Malthusian nightmare along by giving continuous aid to dysfunction countries. Do you have any empirical example to explain why your theory is correct? Any other countries that have undergone explosive pop explosion and then dramatic fall?

Internecine war is inevitable. But it always has been in Africa and the population keeps going up. Their wars don’t tend to be the industrial kind capable of massively reducing populations.
    , @Diversity Heretic
The saddest consequence will be the probable extinction of most of Africa's megafauna.

Thank you very much for that comment, Daniel. You pointed out one thing that irks the hell out of me too. They use the word "tech" as if only computer/software technology is technology. They really believe that just having transistors turning on and off via complicated logic can fix all problems of the world. All of their thinking is similarly digital.

It takes analog thinking using real math and experience to make things work in this world. That takes actual engineers and technicians, not the "tech" crowd.

That last paragraph rings very true for me too.

Of course "the graph" doesn't quiet mean what many seem to think it does. The population of Africa won't rise much higher. It isn't the lower half of an endlessly rising time series curve. Its more like of the first half of a sine wave. This is the upward side. Soon it will peak and start back down again.

African population is like the population dynamics of lemmings. Boom and crash. The number of people will be contained by some scarce resource that is difficult to import - probably water.

Billions, not millions, will die ultimately when things return to normal…Historical population of subSaharan Africa was 15-20 million. Of course, if the Chinese decide to seize the continent, as they are showing signs of doing, it could be worse….

Hell, take up residence in Africa and see what you can achieve on a continent that is probably richer in resources than any other place on earth. Take the time to find out why the continent isn’t thriving. Why the poorest countries on the planet are located there. Take your time. Encourage the African youth to stay there and work with you…and for you. You can be the 21st Century’s King Leopold.

Examples of thinking in innovative ways:
    1. Shall I eat this long pork using my fingers as before, or shall I use those newfangled forks?
    2. Oh wait, I have an electric slicer. I can make cold cuts out of my long pork. Yum. Yum.
    3. Let’s mix long pork from this female with long pork from this male. Why? Diversity, of course!

No, a 30-year-old can solve problems more quickly than he will be able to solve them as a 90-year-old. Absent brain disease or brain trauma, the 90-year-old should be able to solve the same level of problems as he could as a 30-year-old, unless they are the types of problems (e.g., mathematics) that rely upon his remembering formulae that he last encountered in school, as a teenager or young adult.

As I've pointed out before, IQ numbers are adjusted for age. That is, a 30 year old with an IQ of 100 can solve problems that a 90 year old with an IQ of 100 can't.

Didn't I read (here?) that James Watson kicked people out of his lab when they turned 40? Don't knock the brainpower of the young-even if their magic number is lower than yours.

Dear Bill. Here is an idea. Stay in Africa and harness all that unbridled enthusiasm before the Chinese turn the population into indentured servants. Hell, take up residence in Africa and see what you can achieve on a continent that is probably richer in resources than any other place on earth. Take the time to find out why the continent isn't thriving. Why the poorest countries on the planet are located there. Take your time. Encourage the African youth to stay there and work with you...and for you. You can be the 21st Century's King Leopold.

I am guessing all the arrows indicate migration. I checked the source but can't quickly find out. The arrow pointing to Madagascar might indicate contract labor from Asia, but I would not think it is as great as the other migrations indicated.

On this note, Anatoly Karlin has a map showing average IQs declining in some countries as a result of migration from low IQ countries. It was published here on Unz, so you might have already seen it:

Fine. That would make sense if the arrows on this map indicate earlier migrations, but we were going on the assumption, perhaps mistaken, that they correspond to present day movement. The map pertains to changes in IQ that happened very recently, not centuries ago.

Genetically they're roughly half SE Asian (Malay/Austronesian) and half African. The SE Asian component is from the "Austronesian Expansion" that occurred thousands of years ago. The language group stretches from Madagascar to certain parts of SE Asia (Malaysia, Philippines) all the way to Hawaii.

Regarding Bill Gates, he was always rumored to be on the autistic spectrum. This can go two ways: a high systematizer that can analyze data impartially or a socially clueless person that can interact with Blacks without intuitively sensing their lack of intelligence and other inherent differences. The elites all drink the same Kool-Aid. I'm no conspiracy theorist - I think they're true believers. It's like abstract art. The highly intelligent are actually more likely to use their intelligence to hallucinate an alternate reality, while the 100-IQ White truck driver sees a blank canvas with a line through it and says, "that's not art" or "Blacks are mostly dumb" or "Mexicans are ruining our country."

No, the African population is going to get quite a bit higher.

Of course you’re right long term. African population is not going to be “endlessly rising”. But the peak is not imminent.

Africa is a huge place. It’s almost 12 million square miles, three times the size of the US (inc. Alaska). In other words, while some areas are very heavily populated Africa’s overall population density is not a whole lot larger than the US.

By comparison Africa is about 9 times the size of India … which has a higher population! In other words, there is still “headroom” in Africa.

Do i expect African population to get to the 4 billion in the graph? No. Fertility is coming down, albeit much more slowly than it did in other places in the world. But i expect as population pressure mounts it will come down a bit quicker. The West will turn around, change it’s tune and push population control again, when there’s famine again.

But Africa is no where near it’s peak. It will certainly see the 2 billion and probably quite a bit beyond that. How ugly it gets? How will its population come into balance? Who knows?

But short term?–that’s easy, way way more Africans.

Agree. Few Africans are actually starving, and African economies will grow as long as China and India's growth demand its resources.

Cold War proxy wars before and Islam's bloody border now is the main cause of localized famines. Western crop tech is gradually improving food yields in Africa, which is why its urban "middle class" population is exploding. "Middle class" here meaning a roof over ones head, 2500 calories of cheap carbs and vegetable oil a day, electricity a few hours a week, and a cell phone.

This is the result of 2 decades of the Gates Foundations’ meddling in Africa and India. African and Indian mothers took his free food, clothes, vitamins and vaccines but not the birth control. Instead of losing half their children to famine and disease as before, now all of them survive to adulthood, but old habits die hard and African/Indian mothers continue to have their 5-9 kids per woman. Now we have 2 of the lowest IQ zones in the world overflowing with young unskilled violent low IQ people thanks to Bill Gates.

All those African/Indian babies that he saved are now adults and need jobs, and Gates has no answer. He knows you can’t train/educate low IQ people.

The surplus Indians — the chest thumping scam artists of the East, are invading the US by calling themselves “best and brightest”, “highly skilled”. Bill and the rest of the tech plantation owners are joining the con and can’t push for enough H1B’s and green cards for them.

The surplus Africans meanwhile are invading Europe. Of course they are optimistic. They all think they’ll end up in Europe, with free welfare, free housing, beautiful white women to grope and assault.

History will not look back kindly on Bill Gates for what he’s done to the west.

You know the guy’s an absolute hypocrite when it comes to Africa and India. If he really has that much faith and optimism about these places he’d move there or move the Microsoft HQ there already.

Luxembourg’s old top industries were coal mining and steel mills, now high IQ Western Euro migrants run a bunch of huge banks there. I’ve been to both places for a couple days, they were notably very low in third world populations compared to Paris, London, Brussels, and Berlin. A couple thoughts:

)He’s invested big in toilet paper, figuratively speaking. He sees the one percent as the economic drivers of the future; everyone else is just a vessel through which to market products and consume transfer payments; everyone else could as well be an African as a European.

)He figures things will work out in the future for him and his; why worry about speaking truth in today’s public environment? Just say politically correct stuff.

You could be right. The Gateses of the world see their future gated in communities, with the race of the surrounding population being irrelevant. The idea that racially homogeneous states are best never seems to occur to a lot of people. The plutocratic elite don't seem to be bothered by the prospect of being outnumbered by vast hordes of resentful and envious non-whites. Because the country would collapse into chaos without them, they probably think the non-whites will spare them in order to keep being fed. If that's what they believe, they need to take a look at South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Drinking 3 to 4 Diet Cokes per day is shrinking his brain…

The researchers looked at people who consumed more than two sugary drinks a day of any type—soda, fruit juice, and other soft drinks—or more than three per week of soda alone. Among that “high intake” group, they found multiple signs of accelerated brain aging, including smaller overall brain volume, poorer episodic memory, and a shrunken hippocampus, all risk factors for early-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers also found that higher intake of diet soda—at least one per day—was associated with smaller brain volume.

The old Bill Gates wasn't this stupid--quite the reverse. He was obsessed with IQ--are our guys smarter than their guys?

I'd be very suprised if Gates doesn't understand the African IQ problem. I'm sure he probably thinks more of that is amenable to nutritional and educational uplift than i do. But still, i'm sure he's aware that the "raw material" there is poor.

So i'm unclear what the point of this sort of clueless hucksterism is--even understanding Bill's an uber good white. Especially since his wife--who is more of an annoying SJW and has no doubt pw'd him a bit--is pretty openly on the feminist, access to contraception, population control bandwagon.

Gates and other go-getters like him understand all about IQ. I am sure when Microsoft was a startup, his decision on whether to hire someone was based upon how he perceived their intelligence. Isn’t it Google that used to have ( maybe they still do) puzzle-solving questions they put on a a website for prospective employees?

All of these tech entrepreneurs are high IQ people who have spent large parts of their lives being around dumber people. The first time they probably felt comfortable was when they arrived at Harvard or Stanford and found themselves in the presence of others with IQs north of 140. Recall how the adopted Steve Jobs, who loved his adoptive parents, nevertheless knew he was operating on a different plane from them and his adoptive sister.

So for them to pretend that Africa is full of all this human capital is complete BS. They know a large chunk of their own families don’t even have the brains to work for them. But they choose to ignore this in Africans because they don’t want to take the political flak that would certainly come their way if they acted any other way then they currently are. It’s just not worth it. What would they gain? Dr. Watson, a Nobel laureate, spoke out a few years ago and look what it got him. Gates and others don’t need or want that kind of reception.

Gates and Steve Ballmer both have high IQs. I read that Ballmer score even higher than Gates on some test. I don't think Steve Jobs IQ is that high. He didn't know how to program. Steve Jobs was lucky because he has Steve Wozniak. Wozniak is an awesome engineer.

You're right. He's thinking about his popular legacy, and has no trouble figuring out which way the wind is blowing. Since some number of billionaires are going to take some heat for the wreckage of the Western World, Gates is inoculating himself with a serious dose of P.C.
    , @Rod1963
Jobs wasn't that smart, he was a perceptive sociopathic Ad man that figured how to market very expensive pc's to people. Glitz and polish sells.

He later convinced a bunch of white SJW's that buying overpriced devices made by Chinese sweatshop labor was a act of creativity and coolness.

And as a human being he was a total a**hole who could not control himself. The very fact he wasn't murdered by a irate employee is simply amazing.

Woz was the real brains. Without him Jobs would have end up dead in a gutter after mouthing off to the wrong person.

I agree with your sentiment that he doesn’t have to talk about Africa but it makes sense that he does. For most of his adult life he’s been the world’s richest man. He’s into philanthropy. Africa being the poorest continent, there are more extremely poor people in Nigeria than in India despite India having a billion more people, for example is a natural focus of his attention.

I forget what issue the Gates have been involved in there, malaria nets?, whatever it is they have had an impact there. Gates recently attended the wedding of the daughter of Africa’s richest man.

Of course “the graph” doesn’t quiet mean what many seem to think it does. The population of Africa won’t rise much higher. It isn’t the lower half of an endlessly rising time series curve. Its more like of the first half of a sine wave. This is the upward side. Soon it will peak and start back down again.

African population is like the population dynamics of lemmings. Boom and crash. The number of people will be contained by some scarce resource that is difficult to import - probably water.

This is excessively positive. Off the top of my head I can think of ten countries in Africa that have major political issues that can develop into major violence.

I watched a clip about South Africa education, they’ve dropped the passing mark for HS exit exams to as low as 30% in math to boost their HS graduation levels. Still about 1/3 fail, those that pass are concentrated at the 30% level.

China is throwing a lot of money around but some of these projects are already failing and the concern is Africans are taking too much debt.
The business climate in Africa is awful. Nigeria is currently in the process of shaking down its largest telecom company for billions of dollars claiming it expatriated funds illegally. Thing is most of the transfers were approved by Nigeria.

Look if Africa was thriving there wouldn’t be 1 million of them in Libya, which is currently a simmering war zone, waiting to leave for Europe.

I've been to both places for a couple days, they were notably very low in third world populations compared to Paris, London, Brussels, and Berlin. Several decades late, I might add. Bangladesh is an unspeakable hellhole, for one reason and one reason only: Nearly 180 million people crammed into a tiny little country.

Yeah, but Nigeria has got the oil, along with those continual influxes of start-up money we've been sending them for their financial dealings. I'm not sure Bangladouches can even get on the internet. Wasn't their fiber optic trunk line flooded out by Global Climate Disruption or something?

Bangladesh has 6 times the population density of Nigeria, but that number may not mean everything, as it all depends on what kind of land.

Agreed that they'd both be hell-holes in my book though.

Jobs wasn’t that smart, he was a perceptive sociopathic Ad man that figured how to market very expensive pc’s to people. Glitz and polish sells.

He later convinced a bunch of white SJW’s that buying overpriced devices made by Chinese sweatshop labor was a act of creativity and coolness.

And as a human being he was a total a**hole who could not control himself. The very fact he wasn’t murdered by a irate employee is simply amazing.

Woz was the real brains. Without him Jobs would have end up dead in a gutter after mouthing off to the wrong person.

    Ok,

But why didn’t any of the big brains do dat demselfs? Jobs saw markets techies were blind to. Did tons of engineers think ‘I could make billions of dollars by making computers that fit in people’s homes, computers in different colors, computers that work like phones. Dedicated computers that fit in pockets and play music, computers that work like phones, computers that work like clipboards, but i not gonna.’ Jobs was responsible for quite a lot. But he never lurned c. So he stooped.

Why did the brilliant engineers just go into business for themselves? I hear there was quite an entrepreneurial spirit in the computer world. Why did Woz need a partner? Why didn’t hertzfeld raise a few million and do the iPod on his own? Either the competition was pitiful, or Jobs was a genius.

Based is right. Some Swedish patriot should give old Tenzin a MEGA hat. Make Europe Great Again!

BTW it's not too hard to figure out where some of this comes from. Beyond just being a smart and decent guy, the Dalai Lama had his own nation hijacked by the Chicoms to the point he had to flee to India, followed by the Chinese trying to seal the steal by demographically inundating Tibet with Han colonists. So he's a good bit more aware of what a "nation" means, and sensitive to what losing your nation feels like. (Something a lot of white people are going to be feeling in the years ahead.)

Ironically, while the Chicoms certainly control the joint, their attempt to demographically stomp down the Tibetans apparently hasn't been super-successful because in fact … the peoples of the world really are different! The Han have a lot of problems operating at altitude, especially having successful pregnancies and giving birth. They just don't have the Tibetans' awesome altitude mutation/adaptation. (No one else does--some Peruvian/Bolivian indians have a different one, but it's not as good.) Natural selection didn't suddenly slam to a stop 50,000 years ago. Who knew!

Unfortunately for Europe--there's no such genetic barrier to keep blacks and muzzies at bay. If they want their children to inherit their nations … they are going to care enough to do it themselves.

Of course “the graph” doesn’t quiet mean what many seem to think it does. The population of Africa won’t rise much higher. It isn’t the lower half of an endlessly rising time series curve. Its more like of the first half of a sine wave. This is the upward side. Soon it will peak and start back down again.

The really amazing part–the part about human behaviour that I really cannot comprehend–is that most people will act surprised.

African population is like the population dynamics of lemmings. Boom and crash. The number of people will be contained by some scarce resource that is difficult to import - probably water.

Africa already has water shortage problems.

America already has water shortage problems. But of course it’s nothing that adding 50 million more migrants won’t solve.

For all its inherent faults and inequities, the one thing you can assuredly say that is true with Capitalism – as practised in its pure quasi Darwinian form – is that it is intensely rational. Too rational in fact. It’s whole business is to seek profit and to maximize profit. Nothing else matters, and nothing but nothing is better at doing that than good ol’ fashioned 19th century British Whig capitalism.

Hence, my point. If the burgeoning population of black Africa *really* was *the* business opportunity sans pareil, then, inevitably, Adam Smith’s invisible hand would be shovelling over investment cash hand over fist into black Africa. Black African economic growth would be stratospheric, the big capitalist houses would be making astronomic profits, and ‘all would be right with the world’.

But, curiously, this hasn’t happened and is not happening.

There is a considerable amount of investment in Africa. The Chinese are definitely doing some projects for resource extraction.

But overall ... yeah. The invisible hand speaks.

I think the essentially problem is that Adam Smith's "comparative advantage" is really an equilibrium theory. And there is simply *nothing* where Africans have an absolute advantage.

The opening of China created this temporarily "inexhaustible" supply of pretty reasonable quality labor that was simply better than everyone else. It was hugely disruptive. Chinese wages have gone up dramatically, and the labor supply is not inexhaustible. (AnotherMom does business with a--terrific--gal who runs a factory in China. And she was definitely struggling to get workers last spring.)

But even for low skill work where China may start to be priced out, there's still a lot of surplus labor in Asia and Latin America ... that is just way, way more productive than Africans.

Down the road--as more and more nations fertility drops to replacement and their populations stabilize--that could change. However by the time it does and companies might think "we should setup shop in Africa", robotics will probably have eliminated most unskilled manufacturing labor.

The Indians with plenty of cheap labor of their own monitor their border fence and roughly toss any illegal infiltrators back over.

Yep, the Indians take their fence very seriously. They shoot a few people every year. A few years ago there was a bit of a hubbub when they shot a teenage girl who–if i remember the story–was actually leaving, returning to Bangladesh after visiting her Indian boyfriend. And this is to keep their co-ethnics out.

There's an additional, historical reason to suspect that India might not be very welcoming to Bangladeshis in the future either, global warming and resultant flooding of Bangladesh notwithstanding.

In 1971, 10 million refugees from what is now Bangladesh, but what was then East Pakistan, poured into India thanks to civil war. India went to war, kicked out the Pakistani Army (from West Pakistan) and established the nation of Bangladesh so it wouldn't have to continue feeding the refugees.

That really puts things in perspective. If these people are willing to risk being shot to get into India, think of what they'd do to get into a decent country like Britain or the US. There's an invading army out there for whom our countries are an earthly paradise. They've no guns, tanks or missiles. They've got a more effective weapon than that - a nest of traitors running every white country who paint the invasion as a "humanitarian crisis".

For all its inherent faults and inequities, the one thing you can assuredly say that is true with Capitalism - as practised in its pure quasi Darwinian form - is that it is intensely rational. Too rational in fact. It's whole business is to seek profit and to maximize profit. Nothing else matters, and nothing but nothing is better at doing that than good ol' fashioned 19th century British Whig capitalism.

Hence, my point. If the burgeoning population of black Africa *really* was *the* business opportunity sans pareil, then, inevitably, Adam Smith's invisible hand would be shovelling over investment cash hand over fist into black Africa. Black African economic growth would be stratospheric, the big capitalist houses would be making astronomic profits, and 'all would be right with the world'.

But, curiously, this hasn't happened and is not happening.

If the burgeoning population of black Africa *really* was *the* business opportunity sans pareil, then, inevitably, Adam Smith’s invisible hand would be shovelling over investment cash hand over fist into black Africa

There is a considerable amount of investment in Africa. The Chinese are definitely doing some projects for resource extraction.

But overall … yeah. The invisible hand speaks.

I think the essentially problem is that Adam Smith’s “comparative advantage” is really an equilibrium theory. And there is simply *nothing* where Africans have an absolute advantage.

The opening of China created this temporarily “inexhaustible” supply of pretty reasonable quality labor that was simply better than everyone else. It was hugely disruptive. Chinese wages have gone up dramatically, and the labor supply is not inexhaustible. (AnotherMom does business with a–terrific–gal who runs a factory in China. And she was definitely struggling to get workers last spring.)

But even for low skill work where China may start to be priced out, there’s still a lot of surplus labor in Asia and Latin America … that is just way, way more productive than Africans.

Down the road–as more and more nations fertility drops to replacement and their populations stabilize–that could change. However by the time it does and companies might think “we should setup shop in Africa”, robotics will probably have eliminated most unskilled manufacturing labor.

Very seriously, indeed. And more than a few a year, in all likelihood.

    From Wikipedia:

Because of a large number of illegal immigrants crossing from Bangladesh into India, a controversial shoot-on-sight policy has been enforced by the Indian border patrols….

In July 2009, Channel 4 News reported that hundreds of Bangladeshis were killed by the BSF along the Indo-Bangladeshi Barrier…

Human Rights Watch (HRW) issued an 81-page report…The report stated that over 1000 Bangladeshi citizens were killed during the first decade of the 21st century.

Are you seriously suggesting that India had a choice of annexation and declined it? Do you not know that your then president (Nixon) almost went to war with India for the crime of trying to prevent the Pak army from murdering masses of Hindus in Bangladesh, and trying to stem the tide of refugees? Because he was best buddies with the Pak military brass?

What India did then was pretty much the only thing that could have been done to rectify the situation without suffering massive repercussions from the superpowers.
    , @PiltdownMan
How did you read that in what I wrote?

India followed its military option after exhausting all avenues. Its pleas at the UN and elsewhere for a collective effort to solve the Bangladesh crisis and end the refugee problem fell on deaf ears.

It’s just not worth it. What would they gain? Dr. Watson, a Nobel laureate, spoke out a few years ago and look what it got him. Gates and others don’t need or want that kind of reception.

But the thing is Gates never had to say anything about Africans. If he wanted, he could just be another billionaire with nothing to say about anything outside of the industry he's in. It was more difficult for Watson to avoid what happened to him because he was sure to be asked questions about the implications of genetic differences in humans.

Your categorically negative view of Africa is unwarranted. Sub-Sahara Africa has been going in the right direction. The exception is a chaos belt along the Sahel and a few countries in deep equatorial parts of Africa (i.e. Democratic Republic of Congo and Central African Republic).

For the 75% of Africa outside of the chaos belt and hot spots, constant progress is made in peace and well being of population although economic progress has only been moderately improving. With Chinese infrastructure support, sub-Sahara Africa is also able to manage population growth and urbanization. For every road project in even small countries, there are 5-10 Chinese firms bidding against each other for the award, creating a very good ecosystem in even the smallest markets for building the necessary infrastructure to support a doubling or tripling of the population.

“The city council of Mill Valley, a small town located just a few miles north of San Francisco, voted unanimously late last week to effectively block deployments of small-cell 5G wireless towers in the city’s residential areas.

Through an urgency ordinance, which allows the city council to immediately enact regulations that affect the health and safety of the community, the restrictions and prohibitions will be put into force immediately for all future applications to site 5G telecommunications equipment in the city. Applications for commercial districts are permitted under the passed ordinance.

The ordinance was driven by community concerns over the health effects of 5G wireless antennas. According to the city, it received 145 pieces of correspondence from citizens voicing opposition to the technology, compared to just five letters in support of it — a ratio of 29 to 1. While that may not sound like much, the city’s population is roughly 14,000, indicating that about 1% of the population had voiced an opinion on the matter.”

The population of Madagascar is largely descended from colonists from Southeast Asia; the Malagasy language has more in common with Malay than with the Bantu languages of the African mainland.

"Race realists" don't know this stuff?

Genetically they’re roughly half SE Asian (Malay/Austronesian) and half African. The SE Asian component is from the “Austronesian Expansion” that occurred thousands of years ago. The language group stretches from Madagascar to certain parts of SE Asia (Malaysia, Philippines) all the way to Hawaii.

Yeah, but Nigeria has got the oil, along with those continual influxes of start-up money we’ve been sending them for their financial dealings. I’m not sure Bangladouches can even get on the internet. Wasn’t their fiber optic trunk line flooded out by Global Climate Disruption or something?

Bangladesh has 6 times the population density of Nigeria, but that number may not mean everything, as it all depends on what kind of land.

Techno-billionaires, their boosters and advocates seem to find some comfort in salting their bullshit rhetoric with that magic word/prefix "tech", as if all will be okay because of "tech". Thank you very much for that comment, Daniel. You pointed out one thing that irks the hell out of me too. They use the word “tech” as if only computer/software technology is technology. They really believe that just having transistors turning on and off via complicated logic can fix all problems of the world. All of their thinking is similarly digital.

It takes analog thinking using real math and experience to make things work in this world. That takes actual engineers and technicians, not the “tech” crowd.

Yep, the Indians take their fence very seriously. They shoot a few people every year. A few years ago there was a bit of a hubbub when they shot a teenage girl who--if i remember the story--was actually leaving, returning to Bangladesh after visiting her Indian boyfriend. And this is to keep their co-ethnics out.

Another reason it's always such a joy to get those pompous Pankaj Mishra style lectures on "exclusion" and such from these folks.

That really puts things in perspective. If these people are willing to risk being shot to get into India, think of what they’d do to get into a decent country like Britain or the US. There’s an invading army out there for whom our countries are an earthly paradise. They’ve no guns, tanks or missiles. They’ve got a more effective weapon than that – a nest of traitors running every white country who paint the invasion as a “humanitarian crisis”.

Bill Gates is a highly intelligent idiot.

    AKA…”fool.”

A very good democratically principled law would be that wealthy people shouldn’t be allowed to help or engineer society unless all or most negative consequences of their actions were borne (or at least felt) by themselves personally. I know it wouldn’t be practical to enforce such a law, but it would be the essence of justice.

Gates is your typical high IQ Silicon valley geek. He hates whites and has turned his company into little Bombay full of Apus and Pikachus the first chance he got. He can work them like dogs and they don't complain. Nothing but a plantation master.

I think this is his effort to rehab the evil empire image that M$ has in the computer world with him being the chief a**hole and tyrant.

It won't work. The Geek world is still mostly white and they hate Gates. People outside of tech just see him another another creepy, anti-American Silicon Valley nerd who needs a twirling wedgie and a body slam.

As a aside. It's really something, you can't find a high tech billionaire that is even remotely friendly to America and Americans. They are all creeps and deformed man-babies that are working against us.

Destroying their own country is their goal. They have their escape all planned

"Seven Silicon Valley entrepreneurs have purchased bunkers from Rising S Co. and planted them in New Zealand in the past two years, said Gary Lynch, the manufacturer’s general manager. At the first sign of an apocalypse — nuclear war, a killer germ, a French Revolution-style uprising targeting the 1 percent — the Californians plan to hop on a private jet and hunker down, he said."

    They are different from us

"The city council of Mill Valley, a small town located just a few miles north of San Francisco, voted unanimously late last week to effectively block deployments of small-cell 5G wireless towers in the city’s residential areas.

While that may not sound like much, the city’s population is roughly 14,000, indicating that about 1% of the population had voiced an opinion on the matter."

    Amen.

For example, go to the Sparkfun website and look at some of the latest projects on their blog.

Light-up fantasy costumes, light-up unicorns, and a capacitive touch dance floor that counts the number of hand-hops you achieve.

These people aren’t exactly curing cancer, creating room temperature superconductors, solving cold fusion, or halting the human aging process.

He could be taken a bit more seriously if he was pushing Microsoft to open R&D facilities across the African continent.

Gates, Ballmer, Allen and Bezos are wealthy enough to finance their own Belt and Road initiative. It says a lot that they are more interested in space exploration and sportsball than completing the unfinished dream of Cecil Rhodes to build a railway system from Cape to Cairo.

What happened to the Pan American highway ? Did it ever get built?

There's an additional, historical reason to suspect that India might not be very welcoming to Bangladeshis in the future either, global warming and resultant flooding of Bangladesh notwithstanding.

In 1971, 10 million refugees from what is now Bangladesh, but what was then East Pakistan, poured into India thanks to civil war. India went to war, kicked out the Pakistani Army (from West Pakistan) and established the nation of Bangladesh so it wouldn't have to continue feeding the refugees.

They really don't want their co-ethnics, it's pretty clear.

This is the result of 2 decades of the Gates Foundations' meddling in Africa and India.

He knows you can't train/educate low IQ people.

The surplus Indians -- the chest thumping scam artists of the East, are invading the US by calling themselves "best and brightest", "highly skilled". Bill and the rest of the tech plantation owners are joining the con and can't push for enough H1B's and green cards for them.

The surplus Africans meanwhile are invading Europe. Of course they are optimistic. They all think they'll end up in Europe, with free welfare, free housing, beautiful white women to grope and assault.

History will not look back kindly on Bill Gates for what he's done to the west.

You know the guy's an absolute hypocrite when it comes to Africa and India. If he really has that much faith and optimism about these places he'd move there or move the Microsoft HQ there already. Instead he's safely ensconced in his gated compound in Medina, Washington while letting everyone else live with the consequence of this third world invasion of his making.

The fertility rate in Sub-Saharan Africa is 4.8. In India, it’s 2.2.

In today's climate a(white) guy like Bill Gates could be quickly destroyed and memory of him damned for a "wrong " word or idea. After that fiasco in the 90's he had to get his leftist bona fides in order,he's not going to blow it by telling the truth.

I don’t buy into these narratives that the richest, most powerful (white)men in the world are being forced against their will to do all these bad things by the SJW lobby. They are true believers in SJW ideology.

How did you read that in what I wrote?

India followed its military option after exhausting all avenues. Its pleas at the UN and elsewhere for a collective effort to solve the Bangladesh crisis and end the refugee problem fell on deaf ears.

    Calm down.
