  4. “The thing is, though, that I don’t avail myself of a lot of the more conventional space-saving techniques like abbreviations or acronyms or skimping on punctuation because I think the Conservative Pundit character is a little too fastidious and wannabe high-brow for that. And I like to throw in a lot of empty phrases like “Look” or “Personally I think,” too, because even though they’re technically bad writing, they go a long way in creating a voice for the account.

In other words, I make the pruning process a lot harder than it needs to be. And I probably overthink my whole approach. But those are the pains one takes to deliver hand-crafted, artisanal tweets to one’s followers.”

He’s like a more ruthless Mark Steyn.

As Jacques Barzun wrote in his magisterial survey of Western culture (who is fastidious and wannabe high-brow now?) “a decadent culture offers opportunities chiefly to the satirist” and nobody has grabbed those opportunities by the balls quite like CP.

I used to like Greg Gutfeld but Trump really outed him as a cuck. Gutfeld said he first turned against Trump when Trump said he didn't consider John McCain a war hero. Apparently this commonsensical observation is appalling to cucks.

I have never been able to stand McCain and when Trump said what he did I thought, "This is a guy I could vote for without holding my nose."

This comment is Exhibit A for how the word "cuckservative" has quickly lost all meaning. At first it meant "If you want Mexicans to invade your country, you are like a man who wants a stranger to have sex with his wife" - a crude but comprehensible metaphor. Then it came to mean "A cuck is anyone the speaker does not like and wants to insult." It is hard to see how McCain's P.O.W. record has anything to do with real or metaphorical adultery (unless we count the many adulteries that both McCain and Trump committed in their youths - but they were always perpetrators, not victims).
    , @Mr. Anon
I have never liked Gutfeld. I gather he is supposed to be funny, based on the way he smirks at his own jokes. At least he amuses himself. I have never found anything he said remotely funny. I don't know what need he was supposed to fill - to be a Republican Bill Maher or Stephen Colbert? I don't see any need for that. In any event, FOX will have to try harder. Gutfeld is a nothing but a smarmy, snarky bore and a neo-con shill.

A cuckservative goes against his own people's interests. I've seen no evidence to suggest Gutfeld is doing that. Neocons are not cucks either. Their American Christian followers are cucks but the neocons themselves most certainly are not.
    , @Hippopotamusdrome
He really doesn't like Trump because Trump is opposes mass-immigration, and he used that as a thin pretext to be against him.

It's pretty clear that Carlson has been reading paleocon stuff since the Iraq
War went wrong. I haven't followed his career closely but based on what I've casually observed he's been mostly a conventional conservative since then who occasionally engages in real talk, but not often enough to get himself and his career into serious trouble. After the Chattanooga killings he said the US needed to review Muslim immigration - Link - which I think made him the first mainstream talking head/journalist or whatever he is, to suggest such a thing.

    , @Almost Missouri
How did you become so familiar with McCain's and Trump's personal lives?

And yes, McCain does want border jumpers to take his country, so "cuck" is apropos.
    , @Harry Baldwin
I would agree that if it were only a matter of disagreeing with Trump about McCain's hero status, that wouldn't be enough to categorize Gutfeld as a cuck. He fits the profile on a number of issues, though. He exemplifies the "DemsRRealRacists" mentality, for example.
    , @Jack D
Certainly immigration was the issue which gave cuckservatives their name, but cuckservativism is a recognizable package of beliefs of which open borders is only one. If you want to know what they are, DemsRRealRacist parodies them with pitch perfect fidelity. The underlying theme is that the natural role of Republicans in America is to be the predesignated losers - Democrats are the Harlem Globetrotters and Republicans are the Washington Generals. Democrats are on the right side of history but sometimes take the train down the tracks a little too fast. The Republicans' job is not to stop the train of inevitable social progress or God forbid throw it into reverse, but just to lightly tap on the brakes now and then or just to yell out ineffectually, slow down Barack, you're driving too fast! McCain is their poster boy so naturally a cuck would take offense at someone attacking his war record.
    , @Alec Leamas
I think Gutfeld's schtick is to accept the premises of the Left and then show how he and his exceedingly small band of twenty-somethings to forty-somethings are really the ones who embrace the Left's libertine ethos. It's silly, not the least because it just hasn't really worked.

The cuckservative moniker really boils down to the feeling that conservative opinion-makers and thought leaders are captives of the Left who offer token resistance to the Left but then quickly fold in battle - allowing the Left the appearance of a victory and the ability to quickly consolidate its gains as the "right" in the persons of cuckservatives adopt the radical new change as the new status quo. For example, the cuckservative conventional wisdom postmortem on gay marriage is now that the Right didn't retreat and surrender earlier, when it could have been bold and gained mainstream respectability (which is doled out by the Left's media allies and functions like Lucy's football). Some cuckservatives are actually proposing that gay cakes and tranny bathrooms in kindergartens are only on the menu because the right pissed of the alphabet people by not showing obeisance earlier and making them wait for the Court to impose clown world marriage. They're the ones clinging to the "Constitution" as if the Left has ever been limited in its objectives by it in the last forty years - the Left has a "living Constitution" that bears as its fruits nearly every one of its democratically unpopular wishlist items and the cuckservative has "original intent" and a menu of canons like stare decisis which serve to make the Left's extraconstitutional meddling permanent and preclude the right from responding in kind.

The cuckservative sees his role as a well-paid member of the Washington Generals.

They’re the ones clinging to the “Constitution” as if the Left has ever been limited in its objectives by it in the last forty years – the Left has a “living Constitution” that bears as its fruits nearly every one of its democratically unpopular wishlist items and the cuckservative has “original intent” and a menu of canons like stare decisis which serve to make the Left’s extraconstitutional meddling permanent and preclude the right from responding in kind.

The cuckservative sees his role as a well-paid member of the Washington Generals.

I beat you on the Washington Generals thing in this thread (not that it's original). The Washington Generals thing really needs to become a meme. Photoshop pictures of McCain wearing a Washington Generals uniform getting pwned while Obama is a Globetrotter spinning the basketball on his fingertip. Offer to send Louise Mensch a Washington Generals jersey.

    Clinton just won the presidency.

Trump is no conservative and is a racist. No true Christian could vote for Trump. The "base" has proven itself to be a bunch of bigoted idiots.

    That's funny, right there.

CP reminds me of Phil Hendrie's Talk Radio parodies. Most listeners were in on the joke. All callers were not. I wonder how many earnest dupes follow CP.

Tucker Carlson is the best of all the regular pundits on Fox News. I believe he gets it, but he also gets what he can't say if he wants to keep his job, which leads to some unfortunate situations, e.g., removing Mickey Kaus from the Daily Caller.

It’s pretty clear that Carlson has been reading paleocon stuff since the Iraq
War went wrong. I haven’t followed his career closely but based on what I’ve casually observed he’s been mostly a conventional conservative since then who occasionally engages in real talk, but not often enough to get himself and his career into serious trouble. After the Chattanooga killings he said the US needed to review Muslim immigration – Link – which I think made him the first mainstream talking head/journalist or whatever he is, to suggest such a thing.

A cuckservative goes against his own people’s interests. I’ve seen no evidence to suggest Gutfeld is doing that. Neocons are not cucks either. Their American Christian followers are cucks but the neocons themselves most certainly are not.

How did you become so familiar with McCain's and Trump's personal lives?

And yes, McCain does want border jumpers to take his country, so "cuck" is apropos.

He wants that, while feigning sorrow for good white/American kids dying in his overseas misadventures. Any cache he had from his Vietnam record (which, as Unz has pointed out, was probably far from heroic) is long gone http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/navy-seal-killed-in-iraq-was-close-to-disgraced-grandfather

    So what?
    Everyone is “racist”.
Trump wins the presidency with a drastically changed GOP. That’s real hope & change.

Greg Gutfeld still can not get over Little Marco losing Florida in a yuge landslide. Little Marco gave Greg Gutfeld a tingle up his leg just like Obama did with Chris Matthews.

When Little Marco was still in the race, Gutfeld on The Five would always talk about how young looking and handsome Marco is. Greg was practically drooling over the guy.

The BadWhites lived in San Mateo for a number of years. Its SWPL heaven.

Brady went to Junipero Serra HS, the local catholic power. So did Gutfeld. Other alums include the Barry Bonds, Greg Jefferies, Lynn Swann, Jim Fregosi, and David Bakhtiari of the GB Packers.

Kris Kristofferson graduated from San Mateo HS. And that guy Dennis Haysbert that played Pedro Cerrano (sp?) in “Major League” among other things.
