America Achieves Diversity Nirvana (At Least, on Feds' Most Wanted List for Health Care Fraudsters)
Search Text Case Sensitive  Exact Words  Include Comments

America has finally achieved True Diversity in at least one field of accomplishment, one in which the entire world is represented in all of its glorious heterogeneity: the Department of Health & Human Services’ Most Wanted Fugitives list. Here are the first pictures from a very long list:

And it just sort of goes on and on like this, eventually getting around to recognizing practically every group that makes up America’s glorious patchwork quilt of Diversity. You can check it out for yourself here.

But White Male Privilege still rears its ugly head in that the Danish guy has the most interesting story:

Screenshot 2017-07-13 14.29.05

OIG Fugitive: Poul Thorsen

From approximately February 2004 until February 2010, Poul Thorsen executed a scheme to steal grant money awarded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CDC had awarded grant money to Denmark for research involving infant disabilities, autism, genetic disorders, and fetal alcohol syndrome. CDC awarded the grant to fund studies of the relationship between autism and the exposure to vaccines, the relationship between cerebral palsy and infection during pregnancy, and the relationship between developmental outcomes and fetal alcohol exposure.

Thorsen worked as a visiting scientist at CDC, Division of Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, before the grant was awarded.

The initial grant was awarded to the Danish Medical Research Council. In approximately 2007, a second grant was awarded to the Danish Agency for Science, Technology, and Innovation. Both agencies are governmental agencies in Denmark. The research was done by the Aarhaus University and Odense University Hospital in Denmark.

Thorsen allegedly diverted over $1 million of the CDC grant money to his own personal bank account. Thorsen submitted fraudulent invoices on CDC letterhead to medical facilities assisting in the research for reimbursement of work allegedly covered by the grants. The invoices were addressed to Aarhaus University and Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The fact that the invoices were on CDC letterhead made it appear that CDC was requesting the money from Aarhaus University and Sahlgrenska University Hospital although the bank account listed on the invoices belonged to Thorsen.

In April 2011, Thorsen was indicted on 22 counts of Wire Fraud and Money Laundering.

According to bank account records, Thorsen purchased a home in Atlanta, a Harley Davidson motorcycle, an Audi automobile, and a Honda SUV with funds that he received from the CDC grants.

Thorsen is currently in Denmark and is awaiting extradition to the United States.

Young people are disproportionally foreigners, so they may well refuse to pay by working in the underground economy. That still leaves whites paying the bills.
  5. The reality is that embezzlement, welfare fraud, and scams like this are so easy to do when you have immigrants. They steal what ever they can and when the heat gets turned up or, more likely, one of their immigrant cousins lets them in on the investigation, they run back to the old country with all the loot they have stolen. Stupid American dupes who might have been part of it have nowhere to go and end up in the slammer.

We had a similar case in LA City with an Iranian immigrant and an American dupe. The two were using city credit cards in their jobs as purchasing agents for the city. They would bill more than something cost and then split the overage with the seller. The guy bugged out back to Iran. The two stole more than 1.5 million dollars before they were about to nab him. He was probably alerted by an Iranian in the office that investigates fraud.

Is Trump taking advantage of the current Russia insanity in the media to push through controversial legislation?

It would be a thing of beauty. The media, having lost its mind on Russia, and having convinced themselves that they finally have the smoking gun on "collusion", goes all in on bringing Trump down while neglecting to pay any attention to actual legislation. Then, of course, they wake up some fine day and find that they've got nothing to show for the Russia thing AND they've lost on the most consequential legislation to come down the pike--which they wouldn't allow themselves the space to write about at the time.

There's a price to be paid for insanity.

That is great news. Reducing 1M to 500K is a good first step. Now how do we get the 500 K down to 250K, and then down to 100K, and then down to ....
  7. So many questions about this:

The Department of HHS has its own “Most Wanted” list? Is this a joke? Do they think they’re the FBI? Are they the FBI? Is this another law enforcement agency hidden in a benign institution?

And now other nations and foreigners can be granted our own federal funding for agencies? What kind of crazy world is this?

I realize the CIA uses a lot of this bureacratic waste as slush funds for their projects, but seriously, this is positively un-American. Apart from foreign aid (which should be banned), the U.S Government’s funds should be solely for use by Americans, not foreigners or foreign nations.

Trump could definitely use this information. “Our own government is so unpatriotic, they give your money to foreigners. For fake research. Let me shut all this nonsense down!”

I googled the names that appear in the article, and all were scoped as likely fraudsters in 2014 in papers like USA Today, for huge billings and doubtful referrals. Jeff Sessions quoted at article’s end. Is this a step towards Rule of Law in the USA lately? Four hundred-odd people arrested so far in 2017 for similar reasons.

My wife listens to an NPR podcast which recently reviewed the Hasidic takeover of the Ramapo NY school district. Was shocked to hear diversity-embracing liberals take it to the tribe. Basic idea-Hasids move in to what had been a nice middle class mostly ethnic white Irish/Italian/secular Jewish suburban town, grasp their strength in numbers and take over the school board. Despite none of their children actually going to the public schools, the new board immediately goes about defunding everything you could imagine-music, art, sports, AP classes, field trips. And instead begin funding special ed for their own inbred children while trying to pretend it’s not a yeshiva. Exit middle class typical white people, with Hasids then wondering why everyone hates them and why the town pretty much sucks, along with accusations of Anti-Semitism.

    A Not-So-Simple Majority
During the five years that East Ramapo was making its biggest cuts, all of the normal neighboring school districts raised their property taxes by an average of more than 25% just to get by. During the same five years in East Ramapo, the Hasidic-controlled board raised taxes by just 9%.

Some more numbers. During the last 10 years, every comparable school district in the county grew its budget by an average of 50%. East Ramapo's budget grew by 33%.

A 9% increase in taxes and 33% increase of the school budget is referred to as "massive cuts" by them.

Also, here is the 1980 Libertarian Party platform regarding funding of public schools: "We further support immediate reduction of tax support for schools, and removal of the burden of school taxes".

Let a gentile attempt to purchase a house in Kiryas Joel...despite "fair housing" laws, it cannot be done...

This story demonstrates how what used to be the U.S.A. was destroyed. The behaviour of all (yes, all) except European* invaders – and the Hebrews especially – is to enter a splendid dinner party, fart shamelessly until the stink grows unbearable, then complain haughtily that everyone despises them, the party is over, and the whole thing is no longer any fun, all with an air of utter bewilderment.

*Europeans improve any place they occupy and leave it better than they find it. The historical evidence is legion.

How do you figure that? It would be insanely easy for a native to live comfortably for very long periods in remote parts of Thailand, Argentina, Brazil, even Panama or Costa Rica. They would have to give it some forethought, but $$ would go a very long way there.

The list at the link shows that isteve understated the situation. If this is the hangover from the Obama era, please may it end soon. Here is one spicy addition-

    Janaki Chettiar

In August 2011, Janaki Chettiar was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and money laundering.
Chettiar, a resident of Oakland County, Michigan, in suburban Detroit, was a registered physical therapist who allegedly performed physical therapy services for Physicians Choice Home Health Care, First Care Home Health Care, and Quantum Home Care, Inc., all located in Livonia, Michigan, also in the Detroit area. Medicare paid Chettiar and her co-conspirators approximately $13.8 million in false claims for services that were never provided.
According to the indictment, Chettiar and her co-conspirators submitted false and fraudulent claims to Medicare, using Medicare patient numbers, which they used to bill for services that were never provided. They obtained the numbers by offering and paying kickbacks and bribes to Medicare patients.
Chettiar and her co-conspirators fabricated medical documents (home health certifications, plans of care, therapy notes, evaluations, recertifications, discharges, and other records) to bill Medicare for therapy.
Chettiar was arrested on September 1, 2011. After her initial court appearance, she fled the country. Investigators believe that Chettiar maybe be in Canada or India.

Was he a Medical Doctor too, or some other type PhD? I ask this, because, as an MD, I think he figured this stuff is standard.

All doctors get the Harley at some point and maybe a Beech Bonanza (the doctor killer) or even a light twin, and of course the other vehicles go without saying. I think the guy was just confused about the finances – I’d let him off with time served as a fugitive, give him a 1 year probation, and let him keep at least some the vehicles. How could he keep his trophy wife if he had to return all of this stuff?

In fact, does he even HAVE a trophy wife yet? That’s something that’s hard to get directly with grant money (the admins always give you a hard time about it). It usually takes a golf course membership and an extra Beamer, and one more week’s work to purchase the boob job.

Your handwavium is weak. Massive cuts to the public schools, including cutting them, "but the short of it is that D'Agostino kind of cut a messy loophole into the regulations, one that allowed the board to put special education students into yeshivas using public money. These questionable placements were soon piling up in East Ramapo. And state officials were desperately trying to intervene, warning the district that the practice was against the law."

In other words, the DISTRICT was funneling money into yeshivas for special ed kids, while the PUBLIC SCHOOLS were being starved.

Spring Valley is 37% Black and 31% Hispanic. Sort of a reverse White flight. "Here comes the neighborhood".

Despite none of their children actually going to the public schools

They pay the property tax that funds the schools, so they have a say in how their own money is spent.

the new board immediately goes about defunding everything

East Ramapo spending per pupil 2014-15 was $24,256. The median spending per student in New York was $23,370. This American Life laments about supposed school budget cuts:

They pay the property tax that funds the schools, so they have a say in how their own money is spent.

No, they don’t. Not according to the Supreme Court.

Ten years ago, a correctional facility in Kentucky released a prisoner after receiving a phony fax demanding his release.

Officials released a prisoner from a state facility after receiving a phony fax that ordered the man be freed, and didn’t catch the mistake for nearly two weeks.

Timothy Rouse, 19, is charged with beating an elderly western Kentucky man and was at the Kentucky Correctional & Psychiatric Center in La Grange for a mental evaluation. He was released from that facility on April 6 after officials received the fake court order.

It contained grammatical errors, was not typed on letterhead and was faxed from a local grocery store. The fax falsely claimed that the Kentucky Supreme Court “demanded” Rouse be released.

Lexington police arrested Rouse at his mother’s home Thursday evening.

What is interesting is this quote:

“The invention of new techniques to fracture rock (fracking) to extract oil led to a boom where tens of thousands of workers moved from all around the country to pursue new jobs in this industry.

They come here because these are good jobs where people with a high school diploma can make $100,000 a year.”

The zerohedge article was genuinely positive about what Zuckerberg wrote, but they missed something important that you brought up:

    Zuckerberg’s theme is about moving.

Americans move from places with bleak economic prospects to places with better economic prospects. That is what he is going to run on in 2020: half of the American population should move somewhere else…preferably out of the country.

Why, you can ship Americans around the world…like slaves.

I resist the urge to take out my phone and record as I pass a librarian, a white male, struggling to explain something to some manner of foreigner at the desk directly beneath this panoply of mediocrity. Dull, homely foreigners stare at computer screens, whole sections and classes are dedicated to their needs, mostly addressing language barriers.

Anoworin, who also goes by several other names (John Bay, Roland Martins, Wemio Adeyemi and Adeyemi Awonorin), was part of an organised crime group which defrauded a number of NHS Trusts in the UK and Guernsey, stealing a total of £12 million and laundering the money between 1 January and 2011 and 31 July 2012. In September 2011 Lincolnshire Police started to investigate the group and 15 others were arrested. Anoworin was arrested in Abbey Wood, London, on November 2012 and released on bail; he failed to answer his bail and has been untraceable since. Efforts have been made to find Anowrin, who has strong connections in Chatham and Thamesmead.”

Obviously no one’s going to ask why a Nigerian is here at all, let alone why a professional criminal was given bail.

There's a lot of murders and rapes going on in this country, most are not reported as it is everyday news. But when these crimes are committed by a few (very very few) immigrants (mainly south of the border), it becomes national news. Fraud, murder, rape, theft, are quite a normal way of life in different parts of the land, especially big cities, but why magnify this every day thang thousands of times over when it's done by a foreigner? Does it really make a difference to the victims if the rapist, murderer, swindler, etc looked like this or were born there or came with a plane or walked.......?

I realize that’s typical within government agencies, and as someone wrote already, the diversity on the gov’t agency end is part of the problem too – either someone in cahoots, or just pure stupidity (not “New York Stupid”, as that’s different). The story from Triumph about the Kentucky prison is a great example.

Since this whole web site is all about rebelliously noticing things that we are not supposed to notice, how about another thing? Did anyone notice yet that all these health care fraud cases, in addition to the crime-lab diversity-based fraud investigated by Michelle Malkin all involve Government agencies of some type? Have you all noticed that? I haven’t read any cases so far that take place just among private doctors offices, clinics and so forth. Could it be that regular money-making enterprises would be more careful to not get ripped off, as it’s their living?

Small private companies, not actually out-of-control crony-capitalist big businesses (like Google, Wal-Mart, Tesla), can’t afford to hire stupid AA hires and allow scams like this to continue, at least on the money-losing end. What I mean is, there may be scams perpetrated by small business AGAINST medicaid, SS, etc. but they are not going to let themselves get ripped off. The only stupid things done in small business are things mandated by one government or another.

Is it time to notice that the Feral Government should never be involved in anyone’s health care, or is that just my lust love for Ann Coulter coming out?

  55. As I understand it, the reason Medicare fraud is out of control is that the government immediately pays whatever invoices are presented to avoid the time delays associated with vetting the charges before payment.

This gives Medicare fraudsters a relatively safe window to set up mailboxes and, for some, fake office fronts … and spend a short measure of time pocketing their ill-gotten gains. Then, they disappear and move on to the next mailbox. Yes, it’s that easy.

This work is ideally suited to immigrants from low-trust societies where fraud is a way of life. They come here with these life-skills fully developed within the immigrant cultures that are now enriching the American way of life. As mentioned elsewhere, the new immigrant communities also give them a safe haven to hide in as well as an escape route to the home country if the Feds are on their tail.

True, but the underlying reason why overpayment is so common in all welfare programs is that government has no incentive to stop it. The bigger the budget and staff, the better. If some money went out the door that shouldn't have, well, hey, the Keynesian multiplier etc.

Administrators are rarely punished for complicity in fraud and virtually never for mere incompetence. In fact, they are often rewarded -- they raise an alarm and get more resources to address the problem. Lather, rinse, repeat.

And instead begin funding special ed for their own inbred children while trying to pretend it's not a yeshiva. Exit middle class typical white people, with Hasids then wondering why everyone hates them and why the town pretty much sucks, along with accusations of Anti-Semitism.

Kiryas Joel is, or recently was, officially the poorest community in the US, with a great number of children per family, many of the fathers unemployed or not reporting income, and a tremendous reliance on all forms of public welfare.

The marriages may be done in Israel and not reported here, but there is no polygamy.

I went to nursing school in Lakewood NJ. A Catholic college surround by an ultra-Orthodox community. It's a curious place - the only place I've ever been where children didn't look at me. Sometimes I wanted to mess with peoples' minds by wearing the uniform - white blouse, dark skirt and stockings, and having my husband accompany me, in white shirt, dark pants, and hat - because he does look Jewish - Jews think he's Jewish, and I so very much do not.

In the online frum forums, the Haredi discuss various issues, including welfare use. The ones who actually discuss it are usually disapproving, but one of the schemes is for parents to buy a house for a married child, but rent it to them on Section 8.

When I did my maternity rotation, a nurse told me the Jewish women have babies like that, a snap of the fingers. I did witness a birth - a 23 y.o. having her third child, makeup perfect, no sweating, grimacing or noise, three pushes, healthy baby.

When every woman who can have ten children does have ten children, there's a strong selection for ease of conception, pregnancy and delivery.

Lakewood has a birthrate of 45/1000 residents per year, the highest in NJ, twice that of the next highest town.

    http://www.nj.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2017/06/baby_booming_the_17_towns_that_buck_the_declining.html

And I did a home visit to a 15 y.o. Hispanic girl who had just had a baby - plywood and cardboard partitioned house - a terrifying fire trap, roaches running from the crib.

The white gentiles hanging on in Lakewood are old - the black and Hispanic tend to be poor and resentful, but they're still having babies - just not ten per woman.

Michelle Malkin has been all over, including being involved in investigationa as a journalist, of a parallel problem to this one. It is diversity in the crime labs, causing multiple 10's of thousands of prisoners to be let free based on tainted evidence and worse things (blockquote below). Here is The Crisis in America’s Crime Labs from VDare.

Gilchrist, whose tainted testimony sent 11 inmates to their deaths, passed away two years ago unpunished and unrepentant.

It's amazing that you can fool someone with fake stationery that you could print off in a couple of minutes. I suspect there's a second element to all this fraud, i.e. AA hires on the CDC administrative staff too feckless or incompetent to carry out basic checks.

Perhaps if you’re not really expecting or looking out for fraud, it’s easier to just pass things along without really looking at them.

I think the guy was just confused about the finances - I'd let him off with time served as a fugitive, give him a 1 year probation, and let him keep at least some the vehicles. How could he keep his trophy wife if he had to return all of this stuff?

In fact, does he even HAVE a trophy wife yet? That's something that's hard to get directly with grant money (the admins always give you a hard time about it). It usually takes a golf course membership and an extra Beamer, and one more week's work to purchase the boob job.

And instead begin funding special ed for their own inbred children while trying to pretend it's not a yeshiva. Exit middle class typical white people, with Hasids then wondering why everyone hates them and why the town pretty much sucks, along with accusations of Anti-Semitism.

At the effin library. I suspect Portland and other progressive localities have understated how many refugees and immigrants they've brought in. Here they've deliberately seeded them well out of the valuable metropolitan core. But you get out of town to east and west and you are struck by the prevalence of foreigners. We're making our own future banliues.

As I understand it, the reason Medicare fraud is out of control is that the government immediately pays whatever invoices are presented to avoid the time delays associated with vetting the charges before payment.

This gives Medicare fraudsters a relatively safe window to set up mailboxes and, for some, fake office fronts ... and spend a short measure of time pocketing their ill-gotten gains. Then, they disappear and move on to the next mailbox. Yes, it's that easy.

If some money went out the door that shouldn’t have, well, hey, the Keynesian multiplier etc.

Administrators are rarely punished for complicity in fraud and virtually never for mere incompetence. In fact, they are often rewarded — they raise an alarm and get more resources to address the problem. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Sometimes I wanted to mess with peoples’ minds by wearing the uniform – white blouse, dark skirt and stockings, and having my husband accompany me, in white shirt, dark pants, and hat – because he does look Jewish – Jews think he’s Jewish, and I so very much do not.

I did witness a birth – a 23 y.o. having her third child, makeup perfect, no sweating, grimacing or noise, three pushes, healthy baby.

When every woman who can have ten children does have ten children, there’s a strong selection for ease of conception, pregnancy and delivery.

Lakewood has a birthrate of 45/1000 residents per year, the highest in NJ, twice that of the next highest town.

    http://www.nj.com/healthfit/index.ssf/2017/06/baby_booming_the_17_towns_that_buck_the_declining.html

And I did a home visit to a 15 y.o. Hispanic girl who had just had a baby – plywood and cardboard partitioned house – a terrifying fire trap, roaches running from the crib.

The white gentiles hanging on in Lakewood are old – the black and Hispanic tend to be poor and resentful, but they’re still having babies – just not ten per woman.

Thank you for the interesting post. I agree, the unreported marriages have nothing to do with polygamy.

From a comment section regarding the recent Lakewood, NJ ultra-Orthodox welfare fraud arrests:

There are cases where they don’t get legally married, but do have a ketubah, so that the wife doesn’t get legal rights. One reason is that the husband’s entire family makes their living from a family owned business, and they want to make sure the wife can’t claim any part of her husband’ ownership.

    http://www.nj.com/ocean/index.ssf/2017/06/feds_charge_four_in_lakewood_benefits_fraud_scheme.html#incart_river_home_pop

To clarify, the comment above means that a couple had a religious marriage ceremony but the marriage was not recorded with the government. I once heard a Catholic priest say on the radio that he would marry a retired couple and not report it to the government so that they could keep their full social security benefits and not have to shack up for financial reasons.

Basic idea-Hasids move in to what had been a nice middle class mostly ethnic white Irish/Italian/secular Jewish suburban town

Your handwavium is weak. Massive cuts to the public schools, including cutting them, “but the short of it is that D’Agostino kind of cut a messy loophole into the regulations, one that allowed the board to put special education students into yeshivas using public money. These questionable placements were soon piling up in East Ramapo. And state officials were desperately trying to intervene, warning the district that the practice was against the law.”

In other words, the DISTRICT was funneling money into yeshivas for special ed kids, while the PUBLIC SCHOOLS were being starved.

    You can do better.

Was polygamy ruled out by leading Ashkenazi rabbis in the 900s AD?

There's a parable in the New Testament that appears to be about a polygamous marriage, so it presumably existed before then.

I believe Israel took in some polygamous Jewish families from Morocco in the past, but I've never heard of new polygamous marriages among Israeli Jews.

One of the requirements the U.S government put on Utah before it could become a state was that the Mormon Church had to ban polygamous marriage. It was contentious, but that's when the Mormon Elders officially outlawed the practice, despite the early Mormon leaders having been polygamous and promoted polygamy.

It was a "morals" clause in the state contract, if you will.

Nowadays the idea that the government should promote such a Western Christian morality is a sin just to consider. Funny that.

Plenty of times the Old Testament mentions multiple wives. David and Solomon come to mind immediately. And many other OT big names had, if not other wives, then wives and live-in girlfriends, e.g. Sarah let Abraham have her slave girl because Sarah was barren; the slave girl had Ishmael. Then Sarah got miraculously pregnant with Isaac, leading her to exile the slave girl and Ishmael to save Isaac's inheritance, even though Abraham would seek to sacrifice Isaac later at God's command.

Muslims believe Ishmael to be the ancestor of the Arabs in general and Muhammad in particular, and that the Bible story is "corrupt" and that it was Ishmael, not Isaac, who was the supposed aborted sacrifice.

It would be interesting to trace when Jews started going monogamous. It might coincide with a big event, i.e. the scattering of the ten lost tribes by the Assyrians. Or perhaps it was when Jerusalem's temple became the center of worship. Or maybe it was the diaspora after the Romans expelled them from Jerusalem c. 70 A.D.?

    , @Moshe
The legend has it that way but a century off. The truth is that whether some specific rabbi (Rabbeinu Gershom) made a cheirim (threat of excommunication) /takanah against polygamy in parts of Germany (+/-) or not isn't obvious to secular historians but it was essentially going by the wayside anyway.

Sure, polygamy is allowed in the Torah, Mishna and Talmud.

In fact, if a man's brother dies childless he is supposed to marry her widow in order to "have his brother's child" with her. There is a way out but the clear ideal is this levirate marriage even if it means his being bigamous (so long as she isn't otherwise sexually forbidden to him).

Other than that however, polygamy had been going by the wayside on the Christian World as something less than civilized and, perhaps even more relevantly, Jewish tradition really doesn't like polygamy much.

IIRC the first named polygamous man with his wives in the Bible (~Tuval Kain -- also a Masonic secret password btw) killed someone and it only goes downhill from there.

In fact the Pentateuch even commands A KING not to take lots of wives (Solomon broke the rule and the writer of The Book of Kings was pissed about it).

As for non Ashkenazic groups, Morocco would have been rather uncommon, as with a few other Middle Eastern communities. Yemen however had extremely competent Rabbis and they explicitly allowed polygamy, specifically of a woman in danger of being considered 'religiously unclaimed' and in danger of being forcibly taken as a wife or at least forced to convert.

Theae days there are of course eccentrics around (and genius or insane or just attention seeking) Jews probably have more than the allotted quota of such people. So of course there are Jewish people who claim that Judaism tells them to be polygamous (or at least to take a concubine) but otherwise, nah, doesn't exist.

    Here's an interesting factoid.

IIRC the decree was made "until the end of the thousand" and "for the cities of Ashkenaz".

I could spend another 4 paragraphs here explaining each and every possible reading but the point of it would be to point out that the decree (even if real) has clearly finished out its term.
