Here’s a tweet in response to NYT columnist Roger Cohen’s accusation that Rep. Steve King’s “somebody else’s babies” quote represents “genetic fascism:”

You laugh?

I did when I saw this yesterday. But today I saw this 2016 article from Aeon:

If babies were randomly allocated to families would racism end?

by Howard Rachlin
is the Emeritus Research Professor of Psychology at Stony Brook University. His most recent book is The Escape of the Mind (2014).

and Marvin Frankel
Marvin Frankel obtained a PhD in psychology at the University of Chicago. He is currently a professor of psychology at Sarah Lawrence College. He has published numerous articles on clinical psychology.

March 4, 2016

Would swapping children at birth help to achieve a society without prejudice?

Imagine a world in which all the babies born each day were randomly redistributed among the biological parents. The infant assigned to any given set of parents could be white, black, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, or any combination thereof (and that’s just the US); the baby could be perfectly healthy or grossly deformed. Parents would know only that their child was not their biological child. Let us call this social mixing.

This plan is of course politically impossible, perhaps even repellent. Our goal, however, is to engage the reader in a thought experiment, to examine why it stirs up such uncomfortable feelings.

Is the idea so frightening? Yes it is. It is a frightening thought that your own biological child, the one sitting there now doing her homework, might have gone to an impoverished mother or a drug addict, perhaps have been beaten, perhaps starved. But why, save for genetic chauvinism, do we view with comparative equanimity the everyday reality of other people’s children subject to the same treatment by their own biological mothers?

You may argue that genetic bias is indelible in human nature. Social mixing would not only disturb the comfort of this fatalistic attitude, but also use genetic chauvinism for ends beyond mere economic equality, providing grounds for a compassion that goes beyond the wellbeing of our immediate families. Since any man might be your biological brother, any woman your biological sister, concern for them would have to be expressed by a concern for a common good.

A second effect of social mixing would be to generate a strong interest in the health and wellbeing of expectant mothers, which would ultimately translate into an interest in the social and biological welfare of everyone. Since any child might end up our own, we would provide the social and educational environments that would best enhance their development. … The child of that addict might be our biological child. Every victim of a drive-by shooting might be a member of our genetic family. Each of us would see the link between our fate and the fate of others.

Third, the superficial connection between colour and culture would be severed. Racism would be wiped out. Racial ghettos would disappear; children of all races would live in all neighbourhoods. Any white child could have black parents and any black child could have white parents. Imagine the US president flanked by his or her black, white, Asian and Hispanic children. Imagine if social mixing had been in effect 100 years ago in Germany, Bosnia, Palestine or the Congo. Racial, religious, and social genocide would not have happened.

Fourth, the plan accords with John Rawls’s concept of justice, introducing a welcome element of randomness into the advantages that each child can expect. …

There are, of course, many natural objections to this idea. … But children are often adopted at relatively advanced ages, after they have formed close attachments with caregivers. Children adopted during their first year are at no disadvantage relative to non-adopted children. …

It may be objected that under social mixing cultural diversity would disappear. But this would only be true for diversity that depends on the shape of your features and the colour of your skin. This is the kind of diversity that racists wish to maintain. The cultural diversity we care about – of language, food, dress, religion, music, speech – would be preserved no less than it is now. …

I think the Democrats may have found their next big issue. Maybe not immediately, but by the time Chelsea Clinton is nominated, it will seem as inarguable as transgender locker rooms seemed to Hillary Clinton in 2016.

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward Lazy Susan baby distribution.

(By the way, this article might be a joke, but the authors are real people, prominent professors. None of the 51 comments accused it of being a troll job. They all took it very seriously.

Remember, the moment I realized the Establishment intended to wage World War T was when I read an NYT article in May 2013 about how horrible it was than an ex-man MMA fighter wasn’t being allowed to beat up real women for money because of society’s prejudice against the transgender.)

Liberal logic will declare that by taking white babies and putting them in the ghetto, it will ensure that white parents take an interest in ghetto schools, etc, thus ensuring equal distribution of resources.

Correct. Only white babies will be forcibly taken and distributed; only whites will be forced to foster the unwanted babies of the diverse.

  5. The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward Lazy Susan baby distribution.

I did laugh about this one – this gives me hope! -

In brackets: The wishful thinking goes on and on. – Well, what I see here in Europe: This kind of intellectual behaviour (lets put it this way – at least, this way is – – humble as it may seem – – much better (= much mor accurate), than calling it thinking – well, where did I want to end: Here: This looks like a lot of rationalization. – Especially if you have a look at the de facto white- and asian fortresses like Silicon Valley…

The last time I had the clear impression, that such “thoughts” like the ones cited above are clearly rationalizations was, when I saw the latest ascending swiss playwright Laura de Weck complaining about the injustices, that kinda form (or make, or are fundamental for) the swiss school-system – one of the best and most open to everybody and least oppressive and unjust school-systems in the history of mankind.

The only thing you have to know – – are – ehem – – two: a) Little and really charming and quite bright and sympathetic Laura knows nothing about the swiss school-system, that could count as profound or even just so-so. She for sure hasn’t read a single study or some such.

And – of course – b) – She is a descendant of a family of old swiss brains – – and: Money – and quite some…

I admit – young swiss Laura de Weck is still not easy to understand. But on the other hand – it might well be, that such things never were totally easy to grasp.

I had not even heard of Laura De Weck until I read your comment. But that surname certainly was familiar.

I did know a fair bit about her paternal grandfather Philippe De Weck who was not only very rich but connected to an extraordinarily wide array of powerful and influential people.

Despite all those apparent advantages, though, I can easily imagine that she is completely ignorant of how the family wealth was accumulated and what her ancestors had to do to protect the family (and Swiss, generally) fortune.

Doubtful . I don't think these Jewish authors care much for Judaism unless it can be used a vehicle to advance their real religion and tribe ( Leftism ) . Did you notice out of all the countries in the world they could use an example of ethnic strife , they consciously went out of their way to choose Israel , which they referred to as " Palestine ". No sir , I do not think these 2 leftists will make Jews exempt from anything . If anything they would make things harder and worse for Jews as a way to show that they are " impartial " . No sir these type of "Jews" ( Leftists ) are the most dangerous and cause the most harm to other Jews.
    , @biz
You would guess wrong because it is right there in the article where they say they wish they could have done this in Israel. Except they don't even call it Israel - taking a queue from the Far Left they call it "Palestine."

  9. Ah, as many will recognize, shades of Plato’s Republic in which the babies born to Guardians are taken from their parents and raised by the State. With a few caveats.

    1) Plato believed in eugenics. Since breeding for specific attributes works for horses and dogs, then it may be a good place to start for humans as well.

    2) Only the children of the Guardians would be subject to such treatment because only the Guardians would be disinterested enough to give up their children in the knowledge that doing so would redound to the long-term, general, well-being of the State. The lower caste of producer/consumers driven by their appetites would never consent to this.

Odd that the Left has finally come around to advocating the program of one whom they have long reviled as The Godfather of Totalitarianism (but Hegel said this would happen if you push your views hard and far enough).

Ah, as many will recognize, shades of Plato’s Republic in which the babies born to Guardians are taken from their parents and raised by the State.

Aristotle's chief criticism of his teacher Plato was the "communism of women and children" advocated for the Guardians. Aristotle argued that this was unnatural; he proceeded to found his political philosophy upon the true nature of real people, not Plato's theoretical construct.

There's an interesting argument that Plato (or Socrates, if you prefer) wasn't serious about the dictatorship of the Guardians and that he was merely following the dialectics of the argument as far as he could. Socrates admits that the dictatorship of the Guardians is highly unlikely -- if not impossible, because they would not be interested in politics and would have to be forced to assume the role, which would never happen.

But you’re right: This is the kind of horrible, psychopathic idea that would appeal to those who hate white people. After all, only whites are capable of racism. By “ending racism”, Rachlin really is advocating ending the depravity that is whiteness.

    , @Almost Missouri
    Actually it is already happening.

"If babies were randomly allocated to families would racism end?"

Your babies are not yet randomly allocated, but your means to support your babies is already partly confiscated by the government and randomly distributed to an ever more randomly widening pool of client groups, especially for the support of their babies. So the experiment is already partly underway. Oddly, the the redistribution of baby-support does not seem to be ending ethnic resentment. So we will probably have to double down as per Dr. Rachlin's recommendation.

Or contrarily, remember Odysseus, who--with the approval of Athena, goddess of wisdom--cheerfully slew 108 suitors in his house because they had been "eating of his substance": the substance that should have gone to Odysseus and his family. Today the state compels us to render our substance to others to eat. Will we learn the lesson of the Odyssey?

    , @Anonymous
I once pitched a screenplay tentatively entitled "The Baby Switcher" about a disillusioned or mentally disturbed nurse who willfully switched a number-a large number- of infants over a thirty-plus year career in labor and delivery in the 1930s-1970s era, when women were routinely fully anesthetized and given scopolamine or other long term analgesic/anesthetics. In those days it would have been quite possible if such a nurse had set out to do such a thing and had some basic "tradecraft" skills.

Indeed, I suspect that baby switching quite by accident wasn't all that rare in those days.

The response to this idea from people quite okay with most every known perversion of Hollywood, though, was negative in the very extreme.

    George Soros: When Hate Surges
    MARCH 16, 2017

President Trump has wasted no time in cracking down on immigration. He pledged to build a wall, hire 15,000 new Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agents and speedily deport millions of undocumented immigrants. He justified these actions by claiming that immigrants regularly flout the “rule of law and pose a threat.” …

Contrary to Mr. Trump’s claims, immigrants commit significantly less crime than native-born citizens. This has been borne out in study after study, using a wide range of methodologies, dating back decades….

But targeting immigrants and minorities with false and prejudicial rhetoric, as Mr. Trump has done during the campaign and in the early weeks of his presidency, has spurred a surge in hate acts against them. The Southern Poverty Law Center found that hate incidents reported in the first few weeks following Mr. Trump’s victory were at levels normally seen over a six-month period. No community appears safe from this rash of hate — with reports like school bullying against Muslim children, stories of Latinos being harassed on the street and told to “go back to your country,” attacks on blacks and gays, and the desecration of Jewish cemeteries….

I have seen the damage done when societies succumb to the fear of the “other.” And I will do all I can to help preserve the openness, inclusiveness and diversity that represent our greatest strength. Demonizing immigrants weakens our country.

Fighting against hate crimes makes us grow stronger together.

Five minutes later, two men came in. After a while one of them went outside and the other one stayed in the store. He asked me for everything I had. All I had was 10 quetzales ($1.50) and a phone.

He told me I had to do everything he said. I said 'take whatever you want, please don't hurt me'.

He told me to go to the storage room. I tried to resist and that's when he took a gun out and said I had to do whatever he wanted or he would kill me.

He hit me with the gun, threw me to the floor, unbuttoned his trousers and almost raped me.

In the meantime, the people who were outside took my baby.

Surely, some bioethicist somewhere (Julian Savulescu maybe, to atone for his infanticide views) at the “intersection of genetics and social justice” is working on the globo-baby project. The globo-baby would basically be a blend of the genetic material of 6 million randomly chosen vibrant parents (preferably all transgender) from all over the world. It’d be everybody’s baby and yet would not really be anyone’s offspring. I think noone would care for it very much.

That this is what authors find frightening about this scenario is very telling. What most normal parents find frightening is that their own children would go to some other people. It doesn’t matter that much whether those other people are rich and powerful or drug addicts. How many parents would send their children to be raised by, say, Zuckerbergs? Not that many, which is why it is so difficult to adopt.

To get you started we’ll set you up with an overhead run of 500 ft. of quiet-roller 2ft conveyor powered by dual 3-phase 20-Hp motors straight from the delivery room out to the RFID/barcode scanner. The materiel will then be routed through a 10-1 merge zone with a 2 x speed step-up to keep spacing for the tilt-tray sorter shown here:

The materiel will be palletized, shrink-wrapped and fork-lifted over to a 20-door loading dock for shipment to the buyer. Current estimates for our proposed fulfillment center for your needs boast unit throughput of 18,000 pieces babies/hr.

I hope we can make a mutually beneficial arrangement for your baby-sorting needs. We will have a full quote to the unz engineers by end-of-business next Friday. Again, thanks for your interest.

No community appears safe from this rash of hate — with reports like school bullying against Muslim children, stories of Latinos being harassed on the street and told to “go back to your country,” attacks on blacks and gays, and the desecration of Jewish cemeteries....

I have seen the damage done when societies succumb to the fear of the “other.” And I will do all I can to help preserve the openness, inclusiveness and diversity that represent our greatest strength. Demonizing immigrants weakens our country.

Fighting against hate crimes makes us grow stronger together.

“immigrants commit significantly less crime than native-born citizens”

When people start genetically-engineering their kids, it will break the biological link between parents and children. When that happens, some court at some time will find that children actually belong to the state rather than their parents and can be assigned to other “parents” or “ways of rearing.”

I'm dubious. CRISPR doesn't really work like that, its selective edits rather than actually trying to build someone from scratch. Children would likely still be largely their parents' progeny, though a little bit taller or smart than usual.
    , @Stan Adams
It will be hardest on the early adopters - rich folks who are willing and able to spend tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars on genetically-engineering their children. All that money, wasted.

Presumably the ultra-elite will be able to purchase some form of legal protection for their custody (property) rights.

If the kid ends up having some kind of severe defect - say, a psychotic personality - can the parents take him back to the factory and get a refund? Would recycled kids be euthanized and turned into Soylent Green, and/or be harvested for organs?

Something tells me that Mark Zuckerberg's kids will end up looking a lot like the Winklevoss twins.
    , @Massimo Heitor

When people start genetically-engineering their kids, it will break the biological link between parents and children.

If you make custom babies that completely eliminate the genetic relationship between parent/child, then sure, it will be like an adopted/step parent/child relationship which is nothing like a biological one. This won't happen, for both technological reasons, and the fact that no parents would want to do this.

If you change a small number of genes, and most of the normal biological genetic link between parent/child is intact, then the normal parent/child bond will remain intact. That's what's going to happen. The technology is almost ready, and there is absolutely demand among parents for this.

    And vice versa.

Yes, of course. It’s an extension of busing and Affrimatively Furthering Fair Housing.

    Just guessing.

Horrific. Did any of the famous dystopian novels go that far into madness? Talk about your collapsing birthrates, with the best demographics hardest hit.

to examine why it stirs up such uncomfortable feelings.

Killing all the Jews sounds repellent. The idea definitely conjures up uncomfortable feelings. So why not engage in a thought experiment about that, to examine why?

But why, save for genetic chauvinism, do we view with comparative equanimity the everyday reality of other people’s children subject to the same treatment by their own biological mothers?

Because we’re not responsible for the whole world?

You may argue that genetic bias is indelible in human nature. Social mixing would not only disturb the comfort of this fatalistic attitude

You may argue that gravity is indelible in physical nature. Defying gravity would disturb this fatalistic attitude.
You may argue that the laws of thermodynamics is indelible in physical nature. Defying the conservation of energy would disturb this fatalistic attitude.
You may argue that the Earth orbiting the Sun is an indelible process in the Solar System. Ripping Earth from its orbit would disturb this fatalistic attitude.

So many fatalistic attitudes to defy, so little time!

Since any man might be your biological brother, any woman your biological sister, concern for them would have to be expressed by a concern for a common good.

Or maybe people would leave that hole in their lives empty.

Okay, too much stupidity to continue reading. The right and just effect of the “social mixing” nightmare would be for the people to rise up and slaughter their psychotic rulers, leaving their mutilated corpses displayed in public as a warning to the next bunch. Oh, and all the sociologists, too.

I think the Democrats may have found their next big issue. Maybe not immediately, but by the time Chelsea Clinton is nominated, it will seem as inarguable as transgender locker rooms seemed to Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Yesterday I referred to how Harold Covington felt compelled to make the anti-White regime substantially worse than it is in reality. The big one he used was something like this; the State made wide practice of taking the children of poor Whites and giving them to wealthy liberals.

Pin all Democrats down on the topic baby-swapping and have them insist it would make a non-racist society and make it a plank in their platform. By the end of 2018, the Democrats will have gone the way of the Whigs. Single mothers who wants to be on welfare still want to be able to keep their own kids. They'll abandon the Democrats by the million. We can destroy the Democrats utterly with issues like this.

The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward Lazy Susan baby distribution.

I did laugh about this one - this gives me hope! -

In brackets: The wishful thinking goes on and on. - Well, what I see here in Europe: This kind of intellectual behaviour (lets put it this way - at least, this way is - - humble as it may seem - - much better (= much mor accurate), than calling it thinking - well, where did I want to end: Here: This looks like a lot of rationalization. - Especially if you have a look at the de facto white- and asian fortresses like Silicon Valley...

The last time I had the clear impression, that such "thoughts" like the ones cited above are clearly rationalizations was, when I saw the latest ascending swiss playwright Laura de Weck complaining about the injustices, that kinda form (or make, or are fundamental for) the swiss school-system - one of the best and most open to everybody and least oppressive and unjust school-systems in the history of mankind.

The only thing you have to know - - are - ehem - - two: a) Little and really charming and quite bright and sympathetic Laura knows nothing about the swiss school-system, that could count as profound or even just so-so. She for sure hasn't read a single study or some such.

And - of course - b) - She is a descendant of a family of old swiss brains - - and: Money - and quite some...

I admit - young swiss Laura de Weck is still not easy to understand. But on the other hand - it might well be, that such things never were totally easy to grasp.

She might b driven by a mixture of thoughts, ideals and feelings -

She remembers her time at school - that was all but perfect, I'd assume - that's just how you, being a young leftist in rich Switzerland, perceive your little social world.
So: S h e made it in this repressive school system, even though it was though, at times - this can only mean, that erverybody else could make it there, if only the schools were better - more open to the needs of the kids, really.

Then everything becomes a little bit more tricky: Lots of young leftists haven't figured out yet, what this "all wOmen are create equal" formulation really means: Therefor, she is a little bit confused.

Then there is a strong feeling, that she definitely got more in live than almost anybody else in Switzerland - let alone the whole wide world.

She has read in the papers here and there, that the capacities of our brains are somewhat unliminted - and that schools nowadays fail to give people access to their unlimited potentials - that's simply unfair and cruel, even.
All in all - wouldn't it be much more comfortable and fun! even in the world, if everybody would have as much pleasure and chances (=class?) and resources (=money?) as she has?!

    - Of course it would - and she'd for sure welcome that - - so lets just be open and nice to everybody and wish them well and - - - be just and fair - - - instead of all the negative energy that arises from all those dark facts, that the conservatives bring up about inequality - - - - only to protect their priviledges, - - - - don't they!!?

"Is the idea so frightening? Yes it is. It is a frightening thought that your own biological child, the one sitting there now doing her homework, might have gone to an impoverished mother or a drug addict, perhaps have been beaten, perhaps starved."

That this is what authors find frightening about this scenario is very telling. What most normal parents find frightening is that their own children would go to some other people. It doesn't matter that much whether those other people are rich and powerful or drug addicts. How many parents would send their children to be raised by, say, Zuckerbergs? Not that many, which is why it is so difficult to adopt.

I agree with you that it is very telling what the authors think about this scenario, but my eyes focused on this line:

“This plan is of course politically impossible, perhaps even repellent.”

The first thing these guys think about is the political expediency of the project, like they’re talking about enterprise zones or a value added tax. The implication being that if we simply had courageous leaders or the right kind of populace, we could get this program rolling, right quick.

I’ve actually been thinking about this very topic this week, possibly inspired in one way or another by the same quote as this blog post. It’s a fun thought experiment. Would the left’s ideology hold up when it really hits home (literally)? But how to brand family ties, nepotism, and such as racist, or as the true enemies of multiculturalism?

I got to it through the much-talked-about idea that white parents talk more words to their toddlers, leading to advantages in school later on. Therefore, the liberal solution: that black kids should be forced to live in white homes and vice versa. Or, perhaps more simply, mandate that Section 8 vouchers apply only to very large apartments shared by 3-4 families (of differing races).

The consequences for domestic violence, religious indoctrination, cultural intolerance, drug abuse, unemployment, and much more would be… interesting. It’s possible that any or all of those could be made better or worse, depending on details too extensive for me to figure out on my own. But regardless, good or bad, all those details would be deemed secondary to the importance of closing the gap and equalizing outcomes between all (current and future) americans.

And finally it came to me… that may be why there’s such resistance to openly discussing these things. If the ideology is discussed, people might start talking about what the ideology leads to down the line, not just what it calls for right now. And what it leads to is… pretty darn uncomfortable.

Doubtful . I don’t think these Jewish authors care much for Judaism unless it can be used a vehicle to advance their real religion and tribe ( Leftism ) . Did you notice out of all the countries in the world they could use an example of ethnic strife , they consciously went out of their way to choose Israel , which they referred to as ” Palestine “. No sir , I do not think these 2 leftists will make Jews exempt from anything . If anything they would make things harder and worse for Jews as a way to show that they are ” impartial ” . No sir these type of “Jews” ( Leftists ) are the most dangerous and cause the most harm to other Jews.

  56. Someone should alert here fellows to a chap named Charles Darwin who had some intriguing ideas about how humans came to be. One of them, sexual selection, entails that we experience sexual attraction because we want our babies to look like the object of our desire: real cute.

Hamilton took that idea further by proving that kin selection was the basis of familial – and communal – altruism. You are willin to sacrifice your treasure for your blood.

“Social mixing” (family scrambling would be a better phrase) would strangle that urge at birth, so to speak. You would still have sexual selected children, but they would not be subject to your care.

So it would extinguish a large measure of familial altruism. Driving one more nail into the coffin of social capital.

It would also open the door to the Cinderella Effect whereby step-children tend to be at higher risk of child abuse. It also effectively turns every male into a cuckold..

So family scrambling apart from throwing a spanner into the works of sexual selection, kin selection and familial care, yeah I can’t see much wrong with the idea.

He says the art of political satire is becoming lost because militants can't recognize that their own serious propositions could've passed for satire in an earlier more reasonable age.

Well, this article is so far beyond absurd that I'm starting to think it may have actually been intended as satire. If it wasn't...then we've just found the two Yogi Berras of brilliant unintentional political satire: Howard Rachlin and Marvin Frankel.

  60. Parents Should be Handed Somebody Else’s Babies at Random

I would actually prefer this to the current morality, where the moral expectation to not support one’s own race is very exclusively targeted to euro white people and (presently) euro white nations.

When you start telling other groups they can’t love themselves more than foreigners, there will be larger push back, the current tactic of shaming whites as racist and supremacists, won’t work when it obviously applies to every group on Earth, and the flaws will be more obvious and well distributed.

Similarly, I’d be more comfortable with a global abolishment of borders, sovereignty, and migration limits than limits that very exclusively target Euro whites.

Next, even Sailer’s former arch-nemesis and open border advocate, Bryan Caplan, fully agrees that traditional families are a form of birthright lottery, they are immoral for all of the same reasons that migration limits are immoral. Family is completely antithetical to the premise of individual merit. His defense is that humans are too inherently wired to the family structure to change it, where nations and ethnic groups are less biologically wired or easier to rewire. I largely agree: in a single generation you can force race mixing and permanently extinct the current taxonomy of racial groups and any loyalty or defensiveness around them. Close family bonds are more deeply ingrained in humans and can’t be eradicated so easily. I disagree with Caplan’s base level insistence on individual merit taken to such an extreme. I’m not convinced that it is deeply immoral for a nation like Japan or the US to exclude others and preserve their ethnic identity even if that limits opportunities of others.

Similarly, I’d be more comfortable with a global abolishment of borders, sovereignty, and migration limits than limits that very exclusively target Euro whites.

With a global abolition of borders and migration limits, the First World would be totally swamped with welfare-seeking paupers from the Third World. (I know, this is a truism that will come as a surprise to nobody.)

I think I commented on this several years ago on iSteve to the tune that:

When people start genetically-engineering their kids, it will break the biological link between parents and children. When that happens, some court at some time will find that children actually belong to the state rather than their parents and can be assigned to other "parents" or "ways of rearing."

I actually had an idea for a pop novel on this theme in the model of Michael Crichton, but it turned into one of many books I've never finished.

It will be hardest on the early adopters – rich folks who are willing and able to spend tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars on genetically-engineering their children. All that money, wasted.

Presumably the ultra-elite will be able to purchase some form of legal protection for their custody (property) rights.

If the kid ends up having some kind of severe defect – say, a psychotic personality – can the parents take him back to the factory and get a refund? Would recycled kids be euthanized and turned into Soylent Green, and/or be harvested for organs?

Something tells me that Mark Zuckerberg’s kids will end up looking a lot like the Winklevoss twins.

I've actually been thinking about this very topic this week, possibly inspired in one way or another by the same quote as this blog post. It's a fun thought experiment. Would the left's ideology hold up when it really hits home (literally)? But how to brand family ties, nepotism, and such as racist, or as the true enemies of multiculturalism?

I got to it through the much-talked-about idea that white parents talk more words to their toddlers, leading to advantages in school later on. Therefore, the liberal solution: that black kids should be forced to live in white homes and vice versa. Or, perhaps more simply, mandate that Section 8 vouchers apply only to very large apartments shared by 3-4 families (of differing races).

The consequences for domestic violence, religious indoctrination, cultural intolerance, drug abuse, unemployment, and much more would be... interesting. It's possible that any or all of those could be made better or worse, depending on details too extensive for me to figure out on my own. But regardless, good or bad, all those details would be deemed secondary to the importance of closing the gap and equalizing outcomes between all (current and future) americans.

And finally it came to me... that may be why there's such resistance to openly discussing these things. If the ideology is discussed, people might start talking about what the ideology leads to down the line, not just what it calls for right now. And what it leads to is... pretty darn uncomfortable.

Would it not be easier simply to force black parents to blare NPR at high volume 24/7/365?

I don't think NPR can even get loud, no matter if the volume is set up to 11. That's the only thing I liked about that network - they talk so calmly and mellow that it really used to relax me, until, that is, I start really listening to the crap they've been spouting the whole time. It harshes my mellow when I understand what Nina Totenburg has actually been saying. Is she still on? Is she a goer, nudge, nudge, wink wink?

How about books on tape at high volume? Maybe the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, yeah, that's the ticket. It worked for Manuel Noriega, didn't it? (I'm probably remembering wrong here.)

If you make custom babies that completely eliminate the genetic relationship between parent/child, then sure, it will be like an adopted/step parent/child relationship which is nothing like a biological one. This won’t happen, for both technological reasons, and the fact that no parents would want to do this.

If you change a small number of genes, and most of the normal biological genetic link between parent/child is intact, then the normal parent/child bond will remain intact. That’s what’s going to happen. The technology is almost ready, and there is absolutely demand among parents for this.

If such a proposal were actually adopted — pun most definitely intended — no one would have babies deliberately; all procreation would be via unintended conception.

The notion that we’d spend more money on social programs to help the children being reared by poor parents, because they might be our own biologically, is silly, because most people wouldn’t have any children at all, and would want their tax dollars spent on themselves rather than on future generations.

But this cockamamie notion reminds me of a couple others I’ve heard: assignment of housing by the government, on a random basis, for purposes of integration, and assignment of spouses by the government, on a random basis, for the same reason. Our peril comes when the social engineers decide that their recreational pharmaceutical-fueled sophomoric ideas are really great wisdom, and think that the power of government must be used to implement them.

Remind me to leave my bidness card when I get done with this comment, Steve. You've come to the right guy. Warehouse logistics/distribution center equipment is our game.

To get you started we'll set you up with an overhead run of 500 ft. of quiet-roller 2ft conveyor powered by dual 3-phase 20-Hp motors straight from the delivery room out to the RFID/barcode scanner. The materiel will then be routed through a 10-1 merge zone with a 2 x speed step-up to keep spacing for the tilt-tray sorter shown here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVOnt-GJPL4

The materiel will be palletized, shrink-wrapped and fork-lifted over to a 20-door loading dock for shipment to the buyer. Current estimates for our proposed fulfillment center for your needs boast unit throughput of 18,000 pieces babies/hr.

I hope we can make a mutually beneficial arrangement for your baby-sorting needs. We will have a full quote to the unz engineers by end-of-business next Friday. Again, thanks for your interest.

Surely, some bioethicist somewhere (Julian Savulescu maybe, to atone for his infanticide views) at the "intersection of genetics and social justice" is working on the globo-baby project. The globo-baby would basically be a blend of the genetic material of 6 million randomly chosen vibrant parents (preferably all transgender) from all over the world. It'd be everybody's baby and yet would not really be anyone's offspring. I think noone would care for it very much.

I think the swapped babies would mostly fail to induce nurturing in parents.

Parents Should be Handed Somebody Else's Babies at Random

I would actually prefer this to the current morality, where the moral expectation to not support one's own race is very exclusively targeted to euro white people and (presently) euro white nations.

When you start telling other groups they can't love themselves more than foreigners, there will be larger push back, the current tactic of shaming whites as racist and supremacists, won't work when it obviously applies to every group on Earth, and the flaws will be more obvious and well distributed.

Similarly, I'd be more comfortable with a global abolishment of borders, sovereignty, and migration limits than limits that very exclusively target Euro whites.

Next, even Sailer's former arch-nemesis and open border advocate, Bryan Caplan, fully agrees that traditional families are a form of birthright lottery, they are immoral for all of the same reasons that migration limits are immoral. Close family bonds are more deeply ingrained in humans and can't be eradicated so easily. I disagree with Caplan's base level insistence on individual merit taken to such an extreme. I'm not convinced that it is deeply immoral for a nation like Japan or the US to exclude others and preserve their ethnic identity even if that limits opportunities of others.

Why former arch-enemy? Did he stopped writing or did he changed his views?

Steve Sailer stopped responding to and acknowledging Bryan Caplan, so I can't consider two people not on speaking terms to be enemies.

I agree with Sailer's perspective on immigration and borders more than Caplan, but from what I gather, Caplan was basically the better debater, made some clever arguments that got under Sailer's skin, so Sailer switched to snubbing Caplan. IMO, that is a big mistake. Instead, Sailer should have honed his debate technique and made better arguments.

I credit Bryan Caplan with choosing excellent debate partners. Steve Sailer was Caplan's first choice. When Sailer backed out, Caplan picked Garett Jones. At first, I presumed that Jones was merely doing a lazy devil's advocate opposition to an open borders position that he agreed with, but no, Jones is awesome, and is genuinely an alt-right sympathizer, and an unusually articulated, credentialed, professor as well. Jones generally does stick with an "economic" view of immigration which IMO is not the best lens to view it in.

Hamilton took that idea further by proving that kin selection was the basis of familial - and communal - altruism. You are willin to sacrifice your treasure for your blood.

"Social mixing" (family scrambling would be a better phrase) would strangle that urge at birth, so to speak.

So family scrambling apart from throwing a spanner into the works of sexual selection, kin selection and familial care, yeah I can't see much wrong with the idea.

Well, for one thing it would de-emphasize the whole sex-marriage-family model. But then that model seems to be disintregating all on its own.

It would also de-emphasize, even more than today, the lack of responsibility of men for their progeny.

In fact, Brave New World covered all of this ground before, and, furthermore, it was also a lot funnier.

Babies would be born in hatcheries and raised there. Simple. Then the remaining humans could spend all of their time getting high and having sex.

Wouldn’t that get rid of all racism? Well, not really. Because you’d still need episilons to run the elevators (epsilons being small and dark-skinned, as opposed to alphas, who are tall, blond whites). In fact, the only thing Huxley got wrong is that in the future there will be precious little use for Epsilons, Deltas, or even Gammas.

    – Actually, if you really want to “go there” you should have everyone’s sex partners selected by the state. Take it or leave it, and leaving it would be wrong.

    , @Triumph104

Francia had a very liberal view of sexuality. He made marriage subject to high taxation and restrictions, and insisted he personally officiate over all weddings. Francia kept a ledger of all the women he slept with, and despite having no close relationships he sired seven illegitimate children, the oldest being Ubalda García de Cañete. When he caught her prostituting herself outside his palace, he declared prostitution an honourable profession and that all whores should wear golden hair combs. They thus became known as "peinetas de oro" (gold combs) in order to humiliate Spanish ladies, as it was a Spanish fashion.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Gaspar_Rodr%C3%ADguez_de_Francia

Francia reminds me of the Oneida Community (cult) of New York that made silverware.

The Oneida community believed strongly in a system of free love (a term Noyes is credited with coining) known as complex marriage, where any member was free to have sex with any other who consented. Possessiveness and exclusive relationships were frowned upon. Unlike 20th-century social movements such as the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s, the Oneidans did not seek consequence-free sex for pleasure, but believed that, because the natural outcome of intercourse was pregnancy, raising children should be a communal responsibility. Women over the age of 40 were to act as sexual "mentors" to adolescent boys, as these relationships had minimal chance of conceiving. Furthermore, these women became religious role models for the young men. Likewise, older men often introduced young women to sex. Noyes often used his own judgment in determining the partnerships that would form, and would often encourage relationships between the non-devout and the devout in the community, in the hopes that the attitudes and behaviors of the devout would influence the non-devout.

It's not going to happen because that would affect everyone. Destructive social experimentation is for other people.

    Actually it is already happening.

If babies were randomly allocated to families would racism end?

Your babies are not yet randomly allocated, but your means to support your babies is already partly confiscated by the government and randomly distributed to an ever more randomly widening pool of client groups, especially for the support of their babies. So the experiment is already partly underway. Oddly, the the redistribution of baby-support does not seem to be ending ethnic resentment. So we will probably have to double down as per Dr. Rachlin’s recommendation.

Or contrarily, remember Odysseus, who–with the approval of Athena, goddess of wisdom–cheerfully slew 108 suitors in his house because they had been “eating of his substance”: the substance that should have gone to Odysseus and his family. Today the state compels us to render our substance to others to eat. Will we learn the lesson of the Odyssey?

    Just guessing.

Let us call this social mixing.

to examine why it stirs up such uncomfortable feelings.

Because we're not responsible for the whole world?

So many fatalistic attitudes to defy, so little time!

Since any man might be your biological brother, any woman your biological sister, concern for them would have to be expressed by a concern for a common good.

Or maybe people would leave that hole in their lives empty.

Okay, too much stupidity to continue reading. The right and just effect of the "social mixing" nightmare would be for the people to rise up and slaughter their psychotic rulers, leaving their mutilated corpses displayed in public as a warning to the next bunch. Oh, and all the sociologists, too.

Yesterday I referred to how Harold Covington felt compelled to make the anti-White regime substantially worse than it is in reality. The big one he used was something like this; the State made wide practice of taking the children of poor Whites and giving them to wealthy liberals.

Come to think of it, the Biblical Moses was also randomly distributed, but his mother made sure he was picked up by upper class parents.

However, with all of this random baby distribution there'd have to be a DNA test before you could have children. Or sex partners. And that would tend to let the cat out of the bag.

This experiment with baby-switcheroo or the Aiello Experiment would make for interesting case study.

Ambitious parents will have to struggle more with dumb kids, and ambitious kids will have to struggle more with dumb parents.

Imagine if smart Jewish parents had their smart Jewish baby taken away and was given a middle Mexican baby. They would spend lots of time and money to make the kid Harvard material but it may not work out… though there is affirmative action, I suppose. Parents would have to work harder to mold middling talent into high talent.

And you will have some kids who are born smart but then have parents who are middling or even dumb. I think Steve Jobs felt his adoptive parents were middling folks. He himself felt smarter at a young age.
So, these kids will feel they have will have to strive harder since their parents don’t supply the kind of intellectual firepower in the house.

There’s an interesting Japanese movie on this subject.
But then, at least both kids are Japanese, and either way, it’s Japanese raising Japanese, which isn’t too bad. Ironically in the movie, the smart kid has difficulty adjusting with his real smart father because both are so strong-willed.

“Since any man might be your biological brother, any woman your biological sister, concern for them would have to be expressed by a concern for a common good.”

It could run the other way, too. And probably would. For many people, they would feel why would they work 60 hrs/week and still spend time to help their son with his algebra homework, when they know he’s not “their” son? Why not spend away their savings before they die, instead of giving it to this stranger’s child? etc. At least with adoption, someone is actively making a choice to welcome a child into their family as their child, so they have the psychological incentive to treat them as their child. They chose this kid. The idea of a gov’t required baby swap would seem like a draconian measure to most people, not a choice. I’d predict especially among the poor, increased child neglect. In fact, from a Machiavellian Darwinian point of view, someone would benefit from having as many kids as possible on the public’s dole, while not taking care of other people’s kids. There’s still no benefit to devote oneself to the common weal under lazy susan baby than it is now, since the impact of your efforts upon your own kids would be so diluted by the amount of people in the society, it would be negligible.

And its already know that children are more likely to be molested and abused when they aren’t raised by their natural parents. This would only multiply that effect.

And I might even predict that it would increase, instead of decrease racism like the authors suggest. After all, I may or may not know whether the white kid on the other side of town who looks a little like me is my biological relative, but its d*mn sure more likely than the black guy who has been labeled “my” brother by the government. Practically any white person would be more related to me than the average black guy.

At some point political, economical, artistic and cultural movements reach a point of total absurdity. This happens when they seriously and systematically propose things that contradict human nature, when the theoretical ramblings achieve a total disconnection from reality. At about this point reality always bites back. Then they retreat to the point of disappearance, while some of their achievements remain incorporated in the living human culture. We have reached such a point.

Close family bonds are more deeply ingrained in humans and can’t be eradicated so easily.

    Houellebecq would disagree:

I got to it through the much-talked-about idea that white parents talk more words to their toddlers, leading to advantages in school later on. Therefore, the liberal solution: that black kids should be forced to live in white homes and vice versa. Or, perhaps more simply, mandate that Section 8 vouchers apply only to very large apartments shared by 3-4 families (of differing races).

Would it not be easier simply to force black parents to blare NPR at high volume 24/7/365?

I don’t think NPR can even get loud, no matter if the volume is set up to 11. That’s the only thing I liked about that network – they talk so calmly and mellow that it really used to relax me, until, that is, I start really listening to the crap they’ve been spouting the whole time. It harshes my mellow when I understand what Nina Totenburg has actually been saying. Is she still on? Is she a goer, nudge, nudge, wink wink?

How about books on tape at high volume? Maybe the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, yeah, that’s the ticket. It worked for Manuel Noriega, didn’t it? (I’m probably remembering wrong here.)

The notion that we'd spend more money on social programs to help the children being reared by poor parents, because they might be our own biologically, is silly, because most people wouldn't have any children at all, and would want their tax dollars spent on themselves rather than on future generations.

But this cockamamie notion reminds me of a couple others I've heard: assignment of housing by the government, on a random basis, for purposes of integration, and assignment of spouses by the government, on a random basis, for the same reason. Intellectual ability generally isn't that important to parents. Parents don't want intellectually disabled kids or kids that are screw ups, but most parents are completely happy with intellectually normal kids.

Why former arch-enemy? Did he stopped writing or did he changed his views?

Steve Sailer stopped responding to and acknowledging Bryan Caplan, so I can’t consider two people not on speaking terms to be enemies.

I agree with Sailer’s perspective on immigration and borders more than Caplan, but from what I gather, Caplan was basically the better debater, made some clever arguments that got under Sailer’s skin, so Sailer switched to snubbing Caplan. IMO, that is a big mistake. Instead, Sailer should have honed his debate technique and made better arguments.

I credit Bryan Caplan with choosing excellent debate partners. Steve Sailer was Caplan’s first choice. When Sailer backed out, Caplan picked Garett Jones. At first, I presumed that Jones was merely doing a lazy devil’s advocate opposition to an open borders position that he agreed with, but no, Jones is awesome, and is genuinely an alt-right sympathizer, and an unusually articulated, credentialed, professor as well. Jones generally does stick with an “economic” view of immigration which IMO is not the best lens to view it in.

Yep. Most Americans who are looking to adopt want white or East Asian kids. I assume this is a mix of:

    a. Expecting an easier life for white or Asian kids based on innate abilities and temperament.

    b. Wanting a kid that looks like them, or at least like their social class.

    c. Not wanting the social cost of walking around with a black kid, since in many places, a white mom with a black kid will be treated as lower class.

Yep. Most Americans who are looking to adopt want white or East Asian kids. I assume this is a mix of:

    a. Expecting an easier life for white or Asian kids based on innate abilities and temperament.

Some kids are sweet, docile, and polite. Other kids are obnoxious, difficult, and even cruel. Normal parents care about that temperament a lot. Intellectual ability generally isn’t that important to parents. Parents don’t want intellectually disabled kids or kids that are screw ups, but most parents are completely happy with intellectually normal kids.

Whatever you invest into your “lazy Susan” child will not be passed on to your grandchildren, because the children of your child will be handed off to strangers. Don’t we already have this in certain communities where their children are basically handed off to society to raise, feed, dress and house? I wonder if Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie and Madonna would have handed off their natural born child in return for the little pagan babies they brought back from Africa?

    (((Howard Rachlin)))
    (((Marvin Frankel)))

    Just guessing.

Because we're not responsible for the whole world?

The right and just effect of the "social mixing" nightmare would be for the people to rise up and slaughter their psychotic rulers, leaving their mutilated corpses displayed in public as a warning to the next bunch. Oh, and all the sociologists, too.

(By the way, this article might be a joke, but the authors are real people, prominent professors. None of the 51 comments accused it of being a troll job. They all took it very seriously.

I've got some great Holocaust jokes...

In 2018, we’d be doing Republicans a favor if we made this a Democratic Party issue. Pin all Democrats down on the topic baby-swapping and have them insist it would make a non-racist society and make it a plank in their platform. By the end of 2018, the Democrats will have gone the way of the Whigs. Single mothers who wants to be on welfare still want to be able to keep their own kids. They’ll abandon the Democrats by the million. We can destroy the Democrats utterly with issues like this.

Adam Smith (yes, that one) was abducted by gypsies at the age of three, but subsequently reclaimed. Wikipedia:

In Life of Adam Smith, Rae writes, "In his fourth year, while on a visit to his grandfather's house at Strathendry on the banks of the Leven, [Smith] was stolen by a passing band of gypsies, and for a time could not be found. But presently a gentleman arrived who had met a gypsy woman a few miles down the road carrying a child that was crying piteously. Scouts were immediately dispatched in the direction indicated, and they came upon the woman in Leslie wood. As soon as she saw them she threw her burden down and escaped, and the child was brought back to his mother. [Smith] would have made, I fear, a poor gypsy."

Will we learn the lesson of the Odyssey?

randomly distributed to an ever more randomly widening pool of client groups

It’s no more random than the Danegeld of the booty of the Great Khan.

Ah, as many will recognize, shades of Plato's Republic in which the babies born to Guardians are taken from their parents and raised by the State.

Aristotle’s chief criticism of his teacher Plato was the “communism of women and children” advocated for the Guardians. Aristotle argued that this was unnatural; he proceeded to found his political philosophy upon the true nature of real people, not Plato’s theoretical construct.

There’s an interesting argument that Plato (or Socrates, if you prefer) wasn’t serious about the dictatorship of the Guardians and that he was merely following the dialectics of the argument as far as he could. Socrates admits that the dictatorship of the Guardians is highly unlikely — if not impossible, because they would not be interested in politics and would have to be forced to assume the role, which would never happen.

Today, however, the moral compass has shifted, and Australia gets blamed by today's progressives for the actions of yesterday's progressives.

The only radical civil rights policy affecting suburban whites is “familial desegregation,” which has taken 1,000 white children from their parents in places like Shaker Heights and handed them to black families in Watts. But, that is specifically the brainstorm of JFK’s idiot brother Teddy (whom National Lampoon endorsed for President in 1980 on the grounds that President EMK would surely provide four years of Lampoon-worthy material that wrote itself).

And there are hints that Jack and Bobby (chairman of the Semi-Unofficial Committee of One, which deals with “life and death matters of national security”) use Teddy’s program primarily to take Jewish children hostage, perhaps to quell “Jewish dissent against the war for the Irish homeland” and to ensure that the “American press” will never again be “unduly dominated by Jews,” according to Kennedy (formerly Look) magazine:

I doubt any whites do the actual stealing. Brown natives in gangs or the mafia do that.

    ‘My baby was stolen’
Five minutes later, two men came in. After a while one of them went outside and the other one stayed in the store. He asked me for everything I had. All I had was 10 quetzales ($1.50) and a phone.

He told me I had to do everything he said. I said ‘take whatever you want, please don’t hurt me’.

He told me to go to the storage room. I tried to resist and that’s when he took a gun out and said I had to do whatever he wanted or he would kill me.

He hit me with the gun, threw me to the floor, unbuttoned his trousers and almost raped me.

In the meantime, the people who were outside took my baby.

I doubt any of the party involved were white.

No one is suggesting that whites are doing the actual stealing. The problem is that white adoption professionals are receiving stolen children or parents are unknowingly tricked into giving up their children for adoption. Good catch, and a further reminder that 70s Lampoon is the Source Of All Content. All humor, all journalism since is merely a footnote.

The problem with the Rachlin-Frankel Plan, I fear, is that "social mixing" alone will fail to completely achieve the Glorious Object of "achieving a society without prejudice." Randomizing families after birth is too late. Not until we assign breeding pairs, too, can we truly embark upon the Golden Path.

"My Lord, we have not yet attained the required degree of mixing."

In Australia white people are constantly made to feel guilty over the so called "stolen generation" (part Aboriginal kids who were taken from dysfunctional aboriginal families to be bought up by whites).

Of course men would come up with an idiotic idea like this. When my first child was a newborn I practically growled at strangers that got too close to him. I vividly remember an older woman approaching me for a peek at him as I was being wheeled out of the hospital a couple of days after his birth and I shied away from her. The impulse lasted for a couple of weeks and was never as strong with my subsequent children as it was with my first child. Hormones and instinct are incredibly powerful.

The dictator Francia of Paraguay had a policy to break up the power of the European descended elite: "In March 1814, Francia banned Spaniards from marrying each other; they had to wed Indians, blacks, or mulattoes."

They thus became known as “peinetas de oro” (gold combs) in order to humiliate Spanish ladies, as it was a Spanish fashion.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Gaspar_Rodr%C3%ADguez_de_Francia

Francia reminds me of the Oneida Community (cult) of New York that made silverware.

The Oneida community believed strongly in a system of free love (a term Noyes is credited with coining) known as complex marriage, where any member was free to have sex with any other who consented. Possessiveness and exclusive relationships were frowned upon. Unlike 20th-century social movements such as the Sexual Revolution of the 1960s, the Oneidans did not seek consequence-free sex for pleasure, but believed that, because the natural outcome of intercourse was pregnancy, raising children should be a communal responsibility. Women over the age of 40 were to act as sexual “mentors” to adolescent boys, as these relationships had minimal chance of conceiving.

I foresee an increase in home births . . .

I once pitched a screenplay tentatively entitled “The Baby Switcher” about a disillusioned or mentally disturbed nurse who willfully switched a number-a large number- of infants over a thirty-plus year career in labor and delivery in the 1930s-1970s era, when women were routinely fully anesthetized and given scopolamine or other long term analgesic/anesthetics. In those days it would have been quite possible if such a nurse had set out to do such a thing and had some basic “tradecraft” skills.

Indeed, I suspect that baby switching quite by accident wasn’t all that rare in those days.

The response to this idea from people quite okay with most every known perversion of Hollywood, though, was negative in the very extreme.

If such a proposal were actually adopted -- pun most definitely intended -- no one would have babies deliberately; all procreation would be via unintended conception.

Our peril comes when the social engineers decide that their recreational pharmaceutical-fueled sophomoric ideas are really great wisdom, and think that the power of government must be used to implement them.

assignment of housing by the government, on a random basis, for purposes of integration

It’s an interesting idea. Why wouldn’t it work? (I think it would.)

Actually the legend of child napping goes with Gypsies usually. I've seen it referenced as far back as Defoe, I think it was in popular songs and sayings certainly, and there was a "Criminal Minds" episode on it (Mandy Patinkin had the right idea, that's a rough show to spend a lot of time on.)

Jews popped up with child killing, on theory that they needed the blood for something (classic Blood Libel.) The last of those in Europe was over 100 years ago, but sometimes the Leo Frank thing is so characterized.

Adam Smith (yes, that one) was abducted by gypsies at the age of three, but subsequently reclaimed. Wikipedia:

In Life of Adam Smith, Rae writes, “In his fourth year, while on a visit to his grandfather’s house at Strathendry on the banks of the Leven, [Smith] was stolen by a passing band of gypsies, and for a time could not be found. [Smith] would have made, I fear, a poor gypsy.”

So all American males would be randomly moved to Asia, Africa, or SA, Africans moved to Europe, Asia, or America, etc. Basically turn everyone a tepid brown.

The plot would revolve around dumb love story that happened to blow the lid off a global elite that has somehow exempted itself from this forced miscegenation.

I agree with you, of course, but I’m starting to have second thoughts about this article. You know how Sailer says that ideas from the left are often so absurd that they could pass as satire? He says the art of political satire is becoming lost because militants can’t recognize that their own serious propositions could’ve passed for satire in an earlier more reasonable age.

Well, this article is so far beyond absurd that I’m starting to think it may have actually been intended as satire. If it wasn’t…then we’ve just found the two Yogi Berras of brilliant unintentional political satire: Howard Rachlin and Marvin Frankel.

There has been a persistent myth in Guatemala that white people steal their babies for one reason or another.
    ...
Turns out it isn’t so much of a myth.

I doubt any whites do the actual stealing. Brown natives in gangs or the mafia do that.

    'My baby was stolen'
Five minutes later, two men came in. After a while one of them went outside and the other one stayed in the store. He asked me for everything I had. All I had was 10 quetzales ($1.50) and a phone.

He told me I had to do everything he said. I said 'take whatever you want, please don't hurt me'.

He told me to go to the storage room. I tried to resist and that's when he took a gun out and said I had to do whatever he wanted or he would kill me.

He hit me with the gun, threw me to the floor, unbuttoned his trousers and almost raped me.

In the meantime, the people who were outside took my baby.

I doubt any of the party involved were white.

No one is suggesting that whites are doing the actual stealing. The problem is that white adoption professionals are receiving stolen children or parents are unknowingly tricked into giving up their children for adoption. This is a problem with international adoptions throughout the world not just Guatemala.

Might reduce the incidence of homosexuality in the progeny of heterosexual couples.
    Might not.
Is it genocide if a not survival improving genetic incidence is reduced to 0?

biz, I don't think you have really grasped the two-step plan for saving America and the white race

    1) Endlessly regurgitate every piece of left wing propaganda against Israel, no matter how outlandish or trivially easy to refute.

    2) Use brackets a lot.

You'll notice that when Steve quotes a Jewish anti-White, anti-Zionist he always gives just enough info that you know it's a Jew and that he or she is anti-White, but not enough to know he or she is an anti-Zionist., even if this is their primary interest. But this gets wearisome and, ultimately, comments boards are not important. The important point is how we, as Jews, can take practical measures to stop evil Jews like Rachlin and Frankel from harming our people and the rest of the world. We've had nearly a century and a half to figure out some solution to this. Time to step up.

    Yeah.

I agree that iSteve unfortunately does that a lot. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he’s just tweaking his audience. But in this particular case, iSteve actually provided the part where the authors state their desire to swap babies in “Palestine” right in his excerpted blurb. There was no lack of context here, yet these commenters couldn’t even be bothered to read three paragraphs in before diddling their clits and typing ‘hurr hurr Israel.’

Close family bonds are more deeply ingrained in humans and can’t be eradicated so easily.

With the right vibrancy, they can.

The Cultural Lefts ideoligical spasms in the wake of Trump victory is providing a great service to the Alt-Right. A kind of reductio ad absurdum of post-modern liberal anti-human assumptions about human nature.

I agree with you, of course, but I'm starting to have second thoughts about this article. You know how Sailer says that ideas from the left are often so absurd that they could pass as satire? He says the art of political satire is becoming lost because militants can't recognize that their own serious propositions could've passed for satire in an earlier more reasonable age.

Well, this article is so far beyond absurd that I'm starting to think it may have actually been intended as satire. If it wasn't...then we've just found the two Yogi Berras of brilliant unintentional political satire: Howard Rachlin and Marvin Frankel.

I often drop into and out of satire, but in the satirical parts I usually try to put in something funny because it’s ridiculous.

  185. You may find it absurd, but sociology curriculum (a good bellwether for progressive beliefs) casually teaches that the urge to care for your own children rather than any random child has no biological underpinning. So it’s not so absurd to those increasingly insulated liberal arts grads who have absorbed it as fact rather than ideology. Plus progressives get high on identifying and ruminating on a “problematic social construct” with no viable solution, thus requiring all railing against society and no actual work.

From a mother of two: this is one of stupidest things I've ever seen.

I know what I'd do: not have children at a hospital. I dare say plenty of American men would use their weapons against anyone trying to take their babies.

If you want civilization to collapse pronto, this would work.

It’s a thought experiment. The point is to think through some weird situation that illuminates a particular idea or question. Nobody is really going to forcibly switch around kids–all the people so inclined are still struggling to push fat guys in front of trolleys.

In National Lampoon's 1977 Fifth JFK Inaugural issue, a running joke is that an all-powerful JFK would have handled the civil rights problem in America the way his fellow Irish Democrat Mayor Daley did in Chicago: by appointing every black with any ambition to a salaried government job, albeit a vaguely demeaning one.

"Abdul Bernstein Baraka became the 1000th majority child to be successfully integrated into a low-income family under the program of familial desegregation."

Good catch, and a further reminder that 70s Lampoon is the Source Of All Content. All humor, all journalism since is merely a footnote.

The problem with the Rachlin-Frankel Plan, I fear, is that “social mixing” alone will fail to completely achieve the Glorious Object of “achieving a society without prejudice.” Randomizing families after birth is too late. Not until we assign breeding pairs, too, can we truly embark upon the Golden Path.

“My Lord, we have not yet attained the required degree of mixing.”
“I order the immediate creation of 10,000 Tibetan-Eritrean crosses, and 10,000 Andaman-Welsh crosses. So it shall be written, so it shall be done.”

Every one of us might be reared by people who hated us. And even if they don’t, they won’t love us as much as our own parents would. Even in a monoracial society this would be an outrageously insane violation of the most 0bviously sensible division of labor. How stupid do these guys think we are? How crazy are they?

"If babies were randomly allocated to families would racism end?"

No, race-ism is truth and would continue.

Even if Alan Dershowitz had been raised by Mexicans, he would have been a high-IQ Jew who would made good grades.
Even if Michael Jordan had been raised by Jews, he would have excelled in sports than in law.
Even if Mike Tyson had been raised by Chinese, he would have been a thug and moron.
Even if Guillermo had been raised by rich Episcopalians, he would have been a middling guy only good for saying 'Yes Jimmy'.

So no value judgments on children being raised by single mothers, gays, or institutionalized daycare from birth as parenting has no effect on outcome? How does such a deterministic attitude *not* undermine family values?

That is exactly how the Soviets did it...

It’s a great shame that one of Professors Rachlin and Frankel wasn’t born in 1878 in Gori, with the other getting his start a year later in Bereslavka.

That way, they could have participated in implementing their great idea.

One of them might have wound up with an ice pick stuck in his head at age 60. But the other could die in his sleep at a ripe old 74.

She might b driven by a mixture of thoughts, ideals and feelings -

She remembers her time at school – that was all but perfect, I’d assume – that’s just how you, being a young leftist in rich Switzerland, perceive your little social world.
So: S h e made it in this repressive school system, even though it was though, at times – this can only mean, that erverybody else could make it there, if only the schools were better – more open to the needs of the kids, really.

Then everything becomes a little bit more tricky: Lots of young leftists haven’t figured out yet, what this “all wOmen are create equal” formulation really means: Therefor, she is a little bit confused.

Then there is a strong feeling, that she definitely got more in live than almost anybody else in Switzerland – let alone the whole wide world.

She has read in the papers here and there, that the capacities of our brains are somewhat unliminted – and that schools nowadays fail to give people access to their unlimited potentials – that’s simply unfair and cruel, even.
All in all – wouldn’t it be much more comfortable and fun! even in the world, if everybody would have as much pleasure and chances (=class?) and resources (=money?) as she has?!

    - Of course it would – and she’d for sure welcome that – – so lets just be open and nice to everybody and wish them well and – – – be just and fair – – – instead of all the negative energy that arises from all those dark facts, that the conservatives bring up about inequality – – – – only to protect their priviledges, – – – – don’t they!!?

Obviously idiotic but coming from someone who found out they had a different father at 31 I have some experience. This is akin to teaching to the lowest common denominator. I probably would have better understood what I wanted to do with my life had I been raised by my father. I probably would have had more confidence early on. It’s hard to guide a child who doesn’t share the same outlook, have the same interests, and responds differently to situations that arise. There were times I was punished because I wasn’t understood. I turned out fine but it’s been a huge waste of energy and wasted schooling trying to be someone I’m not.

Finally a reason to post one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books, Larry Niven's "Ringworld."

"If the Patriarchy tried to force such a law on kzinti, we would exterminate the Patriarchy for its insolence."

As I get older, I'm beginning to appreciate that attitude towards government more and more.

Ah, Speaker to Animals…it’s what my girlfriend calls the translators at her hospital.

I had a long but unfruitful discussion with the staff at my town’s library (all women) about the state of affairs there. I’m a regular contributor of both books for the book sales and my time during fundraising, so they listened politely while I harrangued them about creating a pink ghetto on the public dime. The cause of the diatribe was the lack of a copy of ANY of the Ringworld novels, the original book being one of the most important novels in SF history, while the entire collection of Maya Angelou’s doggerel was there in multiple copies!

Pearls were clutched, but the director promised to look into it.
