If President Trump doesn’t waver, his border deal with Mexico will be a victory. The Mexicans have agreed to quit serving as conduits to hundreds of thousands of central Americans headed for the U.S.A.

Despite protests from Democrats, stateside—Mexico has agreed to significantly increase enforcement on its borders.

At first, Mexico was as defiant as the Democrats—and some Republicans.

Democrats certainly can be counted on to argue for the other side—any side other than the so-called sovereign people they swore to represent.

In fairness to the Democrats, Republicans are only notionally committed to the tough policing of the border. And certainly not if policing the porous border entails threatening trade tariffs against our neighborly narco-state. Some Republican senators even considered a vote to block the tariffs.

Nevertheless, to the hooting and hollering of the cretins in Congress and media, Trump went ahead and threatened Mexico with tariffs .

More than that. The president didn’t just tweet out “strong words” and taunts.

Since Mexico, the party duopoly, and his own courts have forced his hand, the president proceeded to “retrieve from his arsenal a time bomb of ruinous proportions.”

Or, so the Economist hyperventilated.

Trump issued an executive order, according to which a schedule of tariffs will be implemented unless Mexico polices its borders and ups its dismal rate of deportation, currently at 10 to 20 percent.

Beginning on June 10, “a 5 percent tariff was placed on all imports from Mexico, to be increased by five percentage points each month until it hits 25 percent in October.”

Lo and behold, Mexico quickly promised to arrest Central American migrants headed north. Agreements may soon materialize with Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, to which Trump has already cut off foreign aid, in March

It remains for Trump to stick with tough love for Mexico and the rest. If the torrent of grifters from Central America does not let up, neither should the tariffs be lifted or aid restored.

Trump’s trade and tariff tactics are about winning negotiations for Americans; they’re not aimed at flouting the putative free-market.

How free and fair is trade anyway? Are unfettered markets at work when Canada, for instance, taxes purchases of American goods starting at $20, while America starts taxing Canadian goods at $1000? Hardly.

Free trade is an unknown ideal, to echo Ayn Rand’s observations. What goes for “free trade,” rather, is trade managed by bureaucratic juggernauts—national and international—central planners concerned with regulating, not freeing, trade; whose goal it is to harmonize labor, health, and environmental laws throughout the developed world. The undeveloped and developing worlds generally exploit labor, despoil land and kill off critters as they please.

The American market economy is massive. Trump knows its might. The difference between the president and his detractors is that Trump is prepared to harness the power of American markets to benefit the American people.

But what of the “billions of dollars in imports from Mexico” that are at stake, as one media shill shrieked.

Give me a break. The truth about what Fake News call a major trading partner, Mexico, is that it’s a trade pygmy—a fact known all too well to Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard.

The reason these leaders were quick to the negotiating table once a schedule of tariffs had been decided upon by the president is this. Via the Economist:

“Only about 15 percent of the United States’ exports go to Mexico, but a whopping 80 percent of Mexico’s exports head the other way. ‘There is nothing we have in our arsenal that is equivalent to what the United States can do to us,’ says Andrés Rozental, a Mexican former diplomat and minister.”

Next, President Trump must compel Mexico to accept “safe third-country status.” Translated, this means that the U.S. can expel any and all “asylum seekers” if they pass through Mexico, as Mexico becomes their lawful, first port-of-call.

Thinking people should realize that Trump’s victory here is a Pyrrhic one. For what the president has had to do is convince the Mexican president to deploy his national guards to do the work American immigration police is not allowed to do.

The U.S. must turn to Mexico to police its border because the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has, to all intents and purposes, outlawed immigration laws.

Congressional quislings, for their part, have sat back and grumbled about the need for new laws. But as Daniel Horowitz argues convincingly, this is “a separation of powers problem.” Unless the Trump administration understands that the problem lies with the lower-court judges [exceeding their constitutional authority] and not the law—there will be no fix.

For President Trump, the executive order serves as a way around the courts’ violation of the constitutionally enshrined federal scheme, within which the role—nay, the obligation—of the commander in chief—is to defend the country.

Although they’re temporary fixes, executive orders can serve to nullify unjust laws. As I argued in my 2016 book, “The Trump Revolution: The Donald’s Creative Destruction Reconstructed,” executive orders are Trump’s political power tool—justice’s Jaws of Life, if you will—to be used by the Executive to pry the people free from judicial oppression.

Understand: The right of a nation to stop The World from flooding its communities amounts to upholding a negative right. In other words, by stopping trespassers at their borders, Americans are not robbing invaders of the trinity of life, liberty and property.

All Americans are asserting is their right to be left alone. What we are saying to The World is what we tell our disobedient toddlers every day, “No. You can’t go there.”

That’s all.

First credo of every business is this:
    Customer is always right!!!!
US is a customer of Mexico, China and many other countries. (Countries that have a trade surplus with US,)
So US has here a great opportunity to require from these countries whatever it wants and US will always win the argument.

  3. Do you really believe this “deal” will have a substantial effect?
It is like holding up an umbrella to Noah’s flood of migrants.

  4. Whitewolf says:

There needs to be a huge turnaround in the number of illegals crossing the border if Trump wants to avoid being a one term president. It’s hard to see the republicans staying relevant as well if the current numbers continue. They might hold the Senate for a little while but the presidency and a majority in Congress will be out of reach forever.

I guess it’s ok to bomb the crap out of other countries, but when those people try and get away from the hell created, that’s supposed to be wrong.

Possibly the handle “pisslibertarian” may be more appropriate.

  8. I applaud this move by Trump, and will of course vote for him in 2020 (for a patriot, what is the alternative?). But unless we end the LEGAL immigration invasion, all this is for nought, and Trump will likely be the last non-leftist Republican President.

I have fought immigration for 40 years without success, except for CA Prop 187 in 1994, quickly overturned by a dirty Muslim immigrant Federal judge. Immigration of racial and cultural and (now it’s clear to everyone, as I knew by the 80s in CA) ideological aliens is simple invasion, imperialism by non-military means. We needed Pat Buchanan in the 90s; instead, the stupid Christianists, with whom I used to argue in the 80s-90s-00s endlessly wrt their insane priorities, worried more about abortion and queers (how’d that work out, morons?) than alien conquest – with the obvious result that “globohomo” is stronger than ever – AND we have another 50+ MILLION race aliens voting 8-1 Democrat.

Sadly, Trump and the all-GOP 2017-18 Congress were America’s very last chance to stop the invasion and save our (and the GOP’s) future. Trump blew it, utterly. Now the USA as a unitary, Occidental, Constitutional, capitalist nation-state cannot be salvaged and/or restored. The only hope for American patriots is White conservative territorial ingathering and eventual racial secession and new sovereignty.

If you think they are going to stop, you are as delusional as Ms Mercer. By the way the politicians work for the drug cartels in Mexico. Of course the advice that Mercer gave to South Africa led to the current situation where the ANC runs the country and whites are disenfranchised. America is gone as not only a White nation, but within 25 years, even a semi-civilized and First World one. Diversity is what destroyed us. No, it makes no sense at all.

So, please go ahead and explain how the author’s putting forward the names of worthy, principled (relatively speaking, in the case of Rand Paul) people as his cabinet enables the “Process of Trump.” It sounds to me like she’s hoping that the guy whose poster she must have on her bedroom wall is himself going to read and respond to her fan letter, or maybe even call today after she gets home from school.

And while at that, tell me what this PoT is, if not (i) a distraction that, like the co-opted Tea Party movement, is intended to safely rechannel and ultimately discredit through mutation and caricature whatever aspects of this are truly threatening to the status quo and/or (ii) a fun ride into the sunset for a self-absorbed, rich ass.

Look up and down this thread. Trump talks a tough game – but just a little while ago he got a few billion dollars to help speed up the processing of ‘illegal’ immigrants and spread them around the country and give them work permits. The illegals don’t even have to show ID at airports, because that would interfere with the flood of cheap labor. The reality is that this isn’t an accident: the borders are wide open and this is a planned deliberate massive importation of likely at least tens of millions of third world refugees, because cheap labor.

If these people were invading the private estates of the billionaire class, they would be stopped cold and nobody would cry if children got separated from their alleged parents.

Another point: “Only about 15 percent of the United States’ exports go to Mexico, but a whopping 80 percent of Mexico’s exports head the other way.” That’s missing the issue. Of the 80 percent of Mexico’s exports that go to the US, mot of those are from US-owned factories that have been translocated to Mexico. So putting tariffs on Mexican imports is directly hurting American businesses – not American workers, mind, but American CEOs and stockholders.

  26. This deal is a total farce designed to shut the American people up, Mexico is not going to do jackshit and the elites who control the zio/US also control Mexico and they want open borders so they can bring America down to third world status and merge Mexico and Canada and the zio/US into the North American Union with a new currency the Amero, this is what is coming, and their lap dog Trump is just the judas goat to lead the way!

    given that the individual income tax cuts were only temporary (”sunsetted”);

    given trump’s aggressive and embarrassing promotion of homosexuality, including appointing these disease-ridden unmanly perverts to ambassadorships and federal judgeships and threatening other countries to allow sodomite parades — and his having no problem with homosexual “marriage” or even with consigning innocent children to be “raised” by two such “men”;

We do not have a deal with Mexico yet…..all Trump got was an “agreement to talk about an agreement’. The 6000 Mexican National Guard troops deployed to their southern boarder were already in place by Mexico. This is just another of Trumps ‘victory claims” ahead of his reelection rallies. And since his supporters don’t do “details’ ether he’s safe in lying to them.

Mexico releases the full text of Trump’s immigration “deal”
It is less a deal and more an agreement to discuss a future agreement.

    @Bardon Kaldian

Your link is dated December 2017 when things we’re still looking pretty good, but I must inform you that it’s now June 21st, 2019 and much has changed since that time. Plus, some of those so called accomplishments are debatable.

On immigration, Trump originally wanted to reduce legal immigration but has since evolved into desiring more H1B’s (which he vowed to end) and “the largest numbers of immigrants ever”. Trump just reinstituted “catch and release” with the budget bill in February 2019 and DHS is putting asylum seekers on buses and sending them on their merry way to kill and rape Americans.

Trump speaks out of both sides of his mouth on DACA. He’s asking SCOTUS to end it, but he has the power to do so and ignore any contrary court ruling since it was instituted via EO and president Obama wasn’t a lawmaker (no president is) and EO’s can be revoked by later presidents. The lower court ruling that it can only be rescinded by Congress was an activist and ideological ruling. But then he’s regularly chided Congress for not granting legal status to DACA people which again, he said he wouldn’t do if elected president.

Jeff Sessions, for all his faults, cracked down on sanctuary cities, but Trump fired him and replaced him with a swamp Republican.

Prioritizing women-owned businesses for some $500 million in SBA loans.

We didn’t vote for that. Nor did we vote for the First Step Act that releases mostly black felons from prison early. Nor did we vote for his ultra leftist Jewish son-in-law Jared Kushner to be co-president.

Trump has done some good things, no doubt. But the border and opioid crisis is worse than ever, two things he vowed to fix early and contrary to the lies only about 2.5 new miles of fencing has been constructed. Immigration will make or break this nation and since Trump chose to dither and go centrist rather than throw his energy into making things happen it’s probably too late now. Trump is great at firing his staunch supporters and hiring people who oppose him and are part of the swamp which he said he’d drain but has done precisely the opposite

If Trump was as committed to fixing (drastically lowering) immigration and sealing the Southern border once and for all as he is to giving Israel everything it demands then maybe I’d be doing the splits like you and Wally.

As I see it, whether democracy or republic, there isn’t a “Western liberal democracy” country, except perhaps Switzerland, where the politicians listen to the electorate, post election.
I’d prefer Mussolini or Hitler, myself. At least the state didn’t own everything and tell you where and when you were working, in those regimes.

  54. @Greg Bacon

…Trump is the best POTUS for Israel since the traitor LBJ …

Of course “best” is a relative term in this case. Has any of them actually been a significantly lesser “best POTUS for Israel”?

  55. the Mercer-(((Issacsohn))) loves Trump because Trump is the most rabidly Zionist-stooge ‘Murkan Prez…since the last one.

as to Trump’s (latest) border “victory”,

it is to laugh: the illegals, both from both Mexico and Central America – and now ‘groids from Central Africa as well – will continue to pour across the Trump-vaporized border at their current rate: 5,000-10,000 per day.

BTW Ilana: how’s the Wall coming? At last report, in 2.5 years, 1.7 miles of something that looks like a venetian blind stood on end has been completed. A fat mex can push it down; a strong mex can climb right over it; and a thin mex can squeeze between the slats.

  56. Control of immigration is paramount. There can be no doubt of that. But the US needs farm workers. Why they can’t put together a logical consistent fair simple guest worker program beats me. I guess because then farm owners would have to pay workers a living wage or something like that.

And now what about Chinese and Indian migration? You people in your impeccable inconsistency apparently like Chinese and Indian immigration. Because of IQ or some dumb thing like that. Well I don’t.How stupid. South of the border immigrants take all the poor people’s jobs (including jobs of blacks) while Chinese and Indians take all the middle class’s. Good planning.

  58. A lot of people on the nationalist right don’t seem to realise that globalist policies are interconnected. The number of third worlders who want to come to the FIRE cities of wealthy countries has increased in tandem with the increase in trade between the first world and the third world. Reduce trade between the third world and the first world and you reduce immigration.

At this stage Trump is only flirting with nationalist economic policies, but the fact that his policies are having modest success and aren’t harming the overall economy is a big slap in the face of the neoliberal establishment.

Another factor in immigration flows is the liberal money supply created by loose financial policies. Tighten the money supply and housing will become cheaper for working class whites, wealth inequality will go down, and western yuppies won’t have so much money to spend on third world nannies, gardeners etc.

Nationalists and populists knew all this stuff in the first part of the 20th Century but seem to have forgotten it.

Trump was an unknown in politics in 2016. He could make outrageous promises to build a wall and Mexico will pay for it. He could promise to start deporting illegals on day one. He could promise to extract the US forces from the middle east.

In 2020 he will have a record of doing as promised or not. On some things like tariffs and all things to do with Israel he has delivered but it won’t be enough to get re-elected if current numbers of illegals continue since a lot of his support in 2016 came from people wanting real change on immigration. Ann Coulter among others like the alt-right was promoting him very heavily on that basis. Without that support he’s going to seriously struggle against democrats fired up to get him out of office. The mid term elections weren’t a fluke.

As an honored member of the Joe Sixpack crowd, I believe Trump will lose in 2020 all due to his failure on immigration. He hasn’t gained one Hillary voter, but yet has managed to alienate some of his strongest supporters who got him elected. Trump will most likely lose Pennsylvania, Michigan & Wisconsin (states he barely won in 2016) since our immigration crisis is far worse than before. And the economy is certainly not getting better for the Joe Sixpack crowd regardless of what the WSJ editorial page says.

    Protecting the U.S. homeland

Laid out new principles for reforming immigration and announced plan to end “chain migration,” which lets one legal immigrant to bring in dozens of family members.
Made progress to build the border wall with Mexico.
Ended the Obama-era “catch and release” of illegal immigrants.
Boosted the arrests of illegals inside the U.S.
Doubled the number of counties participating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement charged with deporting illegals.
Removed 36 percent more criminal gang members than in fiscal 2016.
Started the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program.
Ditto for other amnesty programs like Deferred Action for Parents of Americans.
Cracking down on some 300 sanctuary cities that defy ICE but still get federal dollars.
Added some 100 new immigration judges.

So depressing to see this was just a year and a half ago. But Sessions was always the wrong man for AG, he should have been DHS instead of McAleenan.

How far we have fallen. Trump “beat” the Russia scandal, probably by agreeing to swamp rules.

I have fought immigration for 40 years without success, except for CA Prop 187 in 1994, quickly overturned by a dirty Muslim immigrant Federal judge.

  71. The US should immediately dump and/or transport these illegals miles from our borders. no one invited them, we owe them nothing. it’s a shame Americans don’t understand how serious the immigration issue is. across the nation states are hurrying to give illegals full medical, cash handouts, housing, and drivers licenses which is a clear path to our voting booths. illegals are being dumped in the red states. this has nothing to do with anything humanitarian. Whether your a white, black, brown or yellow American you should oppose programs which support illegals. Hooray for Erie county NY clerk Michael Kerns, and Rensselaer county NY clerk Frank Merola for pushing back against the machine, and refusing to allow their DMV offices to issue illegals a drivers license.
Immigration, like LGBTQ; it has nothing to do with Democracy. it has all to do with ‘someone’s desire’ to over turn our way of life.

  75. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the oversight (at best) or blatant lie (at worst) that any tariffs went into effect on Mexico. None did. Trump pulled out at the last minute, based on some handshake deal he presumably had with the Mexicans that the Mexicans promptly denied, for so-called concessions that were things which had already been conceded. Perhaps ms. Mercer is simply mistaken, but given her last name, I have my doubts. Regardless, I would hope that the readership of this site is intelligent enough to recognize the falsehood of Ms. Mercer’s narrative and the line she is towing.

Had Trump actually put those tariffs into effect, and had the Mexicans actually conceded much of anything, I would be ecstatic. As things stand, Trump has not moved the Male Workforce participation rates, the illegal (or legal) immigration rates, or any other metric of actual consequence. He has instead focused on doubtful metrics like GDP and stock indices which at best represent the accumulated wealth of a fortunate subset of the American population, most of whom do NOT represent his voterbase. The challenges effecting first-time home-buyers, working class laborers, and recent college graduates would be far more useful targets for Trump, given that these are strongly effected by migration both legal and illegal, and thus would be show clear signs of victory. Alas, they only show signs of uselessness.

  76. KenH says:

Last week Trump announced the deportation of “millions” of illegal aliens but true to form he has now delayed the deportations by two weeks in the hopes that some kind of a deal can be worked out between both parties on border security and closing immigration loop holes. But the Democrats are looking to grant permanent TPS status to all non-whites in the country as well as amnesty for DACA qualifiers, so whitey is likely to get screwed over but Trump will succeed in closing one of two of about ten loopholes and declare victory.

The (((Democrat))) strategy isn’t hard to figure out. They are trying to keep as many illegal aliens in the nation as possible knowing that eventually they will be granted amnesty, vote Democrat and turn America into a one party dictatorship. That is, once the Dems recapture the Senate and the oval office which could happen in 2020 especially if we go to war with Iran.

Trump is supposed to be this legendary negotiator but again he’s put himself in a position of weakness by dealing with the Democrats in good faith while they deal with he and the Republicans in bad faith.

Trump should start deporting with reckless abandon ASAP to apply maximum pressure to the Democrats. But again, despite his tough twitter talk he’s a dithering centrist who lacks the will to mass deport illegal aliens as he has promised numerous times on the campaign trail and a few times since taking office.

    IMO-

Trump agreed to the two weeks as a persuasion tactic. It is to convince people who swallow the koolaid on “America is a nation of immigrants” that Trump is the reasonable person who will solve the crisis by cracking down and deporting, while the Democrats won’t do anything with the two weeks they are given because they like the crisis.

Yes he has done this before but he wants to maximize national support before he makes his move. And he wants to show that the Democratic party is now a bunch of nutjobs.

I am not basing my opinion on his past performance on this issue. I am basing it on just now nutty the Democrats position has gotten over the last two years, and on how they are going after Trump’s family as well as him. If he loses in 2020 then he doesn’t just lose the election, he loses protection from government prosecutors coming after not just him but also his children and grandchildren.

If Trump keeps giving us bunts and singles instead of grand slams on immigration then he’s guaranteed to lose 2020. And now Trump trolled them into arguing that aliens who were already ordered to be deported by the judicial system should stay because it is the moral thing to do and you are a racist Nazi if you argue otherwise.

I remember last year the left telling me the Democrats had trapped Trump into making a deal for the Dreamers and any day now they were going to take him up on the deal and get it signed.

Jared Kusher and his wife should have stayed in New York and ran his family’s business, they should never have moved into an office in the White House and gotten involved in politics.

I can see a time where his entire family will have to move out of the US for their own safety. Who knows where they will wind up…maybe Israel, maybe Russia…who knows.

  83. The only way to stop caravans and invasion is by using militaryu force, if not USA is doomed.
USA is the most stupid country in the world. All nations in the world can fool USA and take the money of American people, saying lies, now they will also take territory. Trump says he is for safe border but he cant do anything because traitors always do something top help invaders, and thousands of caravaneers can enter and stay in USA. USA lawmakers made laws to help invaders to stay in USA even if they entered illegally. Border patrol can not deport them immediately after they cross the border illegally because the law says they can apply for asylum, then USA gov provides them free lawyers to get asylum (all paid by USA society) and then they are allowed to stay in USA for months until Court of Justice takes a decision, but they dont show up, they hide in USA and never leave the country. ICE just drops them in Sanctuary cities. If Trump wants to stop invasion, he must derogate the law that gives them right to claim for asylum and also the law that lets them to wait in USA for a decision of the migratory authorities. Why doesnt he do that? Maybe Kushner wants more invaders to enter. It seems that now Mexico is ther BOSS of the world, the whole world giver money to Mexico as if Mexico is ther Emperor and the world is its slave. USA, unexplainably, fears Mexico more than 100 atomic bombs from China or Russia. Trump decides to punish China with 25 % tax to Chinese products, but, terrorized by Mexico, he only dares to order 5% in tariff for Mexican products and he cancels that tax. He says Mexico is a good friend of USA but Mexican government is helping invaders to enter USA. AMLO appears to be the new President of all North America and Central America. He is the new ruler of the world is Mr Obrador. USA should prepare to have
AMLO in White and give him billions of dollars every year. Americans are easily fooled by him and his team.
