A few cheering thoughts on terrorism. This column specializes in cheering thoughts.

Terrorism by Moslems in America and Europe cannot be stopped. If attacks do not occur, it will be because nobody tried very hard. Stopping them would require excluding Moslems, deporting them, or controlling them by totalitarian methods. Or, improbably, minding our own business in the Middle East.

What you think of the foregoing approaches doesn’t matter, since none of them will be used. In France the result would be a civil war. America is too divided to do anything about anything.

The notion that the government can prevent terrorism suggests studied inattention to the obvious. To begin, the intelligence agencies have proved useless. NSA did not prevent the first attack on the Twin Towers in 1993, nor the successful one. French intelligence did not prevent the recant attacks in Paris, nor Russian intelligence the downing of the airliner over Syria. On and on.

The idea that terrorism can be prevented must include the idea that a package containing ten pounds of C4 (or Semtex, or RDX, or….) and a blasting cap can be kept out of a country with long and almost open borders. America can exclude neither tons of prohibited substances nor tens of thousands of prohibited people. C4 is not hard to use. I learned in infantry training at Camp Lejeune long ago. Nothing to it.

Exercise for the reader: Think of five ways a terrorist cell with the resources of the Nine-Eleven attackers could get a small suitcase into America. Think how you could do it.

What goes on at airports is not security. It is Security Theater. When the government’s own agents try to smuggle “weapons” aboard airliners to test the system, they succeed ninety-five percent of the time.

Further, a terrorist doesn’t need to get aboard an airliner to blow up spectacularly. At many airports, hundreds of people line up at ticket counters during peak hours. A carry-on bag of explosive would easily create enough slaughter to shut down air travel and to make international headlines for weeks.

The willingness of a suicide bomber to die makes him almost unstoppable. If he has assembled enough explosive for a car bomb, he has only to find a large number of people together, pull up to them, and push the button. An AK, a thirty-round magazine, and a Fourth of July crowd would serve well. Ten pounds of C 4 in a shoulder bag in a crowded movie theater would also work. Suicide would not be necessary: “Would you watch my bag for a minute while I go to the john?”

Warnings at airports that unattended vehicles will be ticketed, towed, and perhaps destroyed are also Security Theater. By the time the vehicle was noticed, and somebody sent to check it out, an easy five minutes would have passed and the driver would be somewhere else. Boom.

Tim McVeigh blew up the federal building in Oklahoma using ammonium-nitrate fertilizer. He didn’t need to smuggle anything into the US. How do you watch fertilizer?

Large numbers of people are easily vulnerable in large numbers of places. Restaurants, kindergartens, churches. It is impossible to secure tens of thousands of soft targets. The only question is whether a terrorist can get his hands on explosives. Or a gun. Or gasoline.

Exercise for the reader: Think of three spectacularly horrible things you could do with five gallons of gasoline and a cigarette lighter. Especially if you were willing to die doing them.

The appeal of terrorism is great because it is by a very wide margin the most cost-effective form of warfare. By the expenditure of at most a few lives and a little money, terrorists can throw a country into panic, spur major reductions in civil liberties, permanently alter its government, and perhaps cause it to launch exhausting wars. For example, consider what Nine-Eleven has done to America.

Exercise for the reader: Go online and investigate “improvised explosives.” Better yet, don’t, because the FBI might show up. Terrorists already know lots about such things. For that matter, countless military manuals in the public dolman deal with such things in practical detail.

Domestic surveillance is of little use. It assumes that terrorists are stupid and do not read newspapers. When the terrorists find that NSA can track cell phones, they stop using them. This is an inconvenience, but not a bar to success. Lone terrorists don’t have to communicate with anyone.

Exercise for the reader: Think of three ways you could communicate undetectably by Facebook. Don’t bother with techy things like indexing by the digits of an irrational number into low-order bits of the RGB fields of a chromatically chaotic photo,. Just think pre-arranged words and phrases, photos, etc.

The last time I was on Metro, Washington’s subway, recorded messages constantly warned passengers to be alert, to watch each other, to report “suspicious behavior,” whatever that is, to a TSA official or call a certain phone number.

Security Theater. Pointless. A terrorist, not being stupid, would make sure he didn’t look like a terrorist. (What does a terrorist look like?) At rush hour, the system is a madhouse with cars so crammed that standees can hardly breathe. Nobody pays attention to packages and briefcases. You can fill in the blanks.

For that matter, a suicide type could create quite a stir just by shooting everybody in a restaurant in Washington. Gun control is not an answer. It serves only to keep the law-abiding from getting guns. Mexico strictly controls guns. Does anyone get shot there?

Low-level federal bureaucrats are probably too stupid to realize that what they are doing is a waste of time. Higher-ups know. Whether the endless warnings and theater are intended to make the public think the government is “doing something,” or to co condition people to obedience, I don’t know.

For what it’s worth, I note that last time I was in Washington, the admonitions on Metro included things like “Lift your feet when getting on the escalators” and similar mommyisms. This at any rate sounds more like bored collectivism than anything else.

Exercise for the reader: Calculate the likelihood that a suicide bomber with a briefcase would be detected and rendered harmless in Washington’s Metro system. Hint: The answer begins with “z.”

ORDER IT NOW

For terrorists with a little bit of organization—you know, like the Nine-Eleven crew—getting anything or anybody at all into the US is not difficult. Have you seen a radar map of the waters around Miami at night? There are hundreds of blips, cabin cruisers, cargo ships, fishermen, whatever. They are not watchable.

I used to think that if I wanted to smuggle something of moderate size into America, I would have my henchmen from Colombia drop the load in a hundred feet of water off North Carolina and send me the GPS coordinates. I would go out a few days later as a sport scuba diver and pick the stuff up.

Other easy means of terrorism exist which I won’t write about because some yoyo Unabomber wannabe might actually use them. They have all been used before, and real terrorists know about them.

It is interesting to remember that terrorism is not bad for everybody. For the Pentagon, Nine-Eleven was a windfall, providing wars and new drones; for NSA, a massive expansion in its powers; for Israel and AIPAC, the destruction of Israel’s arch-enemy, Iraq; for the arms manufacturers, hundreds of billions; for the federal government in general, near-dictatorship and, for jihadists, the involvement of the US in crippling and endless wars. Which is what they wanted. Everybody profited except the American public.

The future? Hard to say. As I write, President B. Hussein Obama is endeavoring to import tens of thousands of Moslems. It will be impossible to screen them, presumably making the importation a free ride into the US for terrorists if they so choose. It is not politically incorrect to note that the countless Moslem terrorists in recent years have been countless Moslem terrorists. It is, however, true. The greatest question about terrorists is not whether they can, but why they haven’t.

  1. Yep.

That’s been my questions for years: Why so few terrorist attacks? Of course, it doesn’t matter anyway. The immvasion of the country is the real terrorism, and it strikes every day.

That’s easily a question itself: why so few jihadis? There are hundreds of millions of young Sunni males living in shithole countries with no prospects.

Why only tens of thousands signing up to shoot infidels or rape and pillage?

Arbitrary numbers, you’ve got 150 million able-bodied potential jihadis out there, you’ve got something like 150,000 actually going and waging jihad.

That’s a 1 in 1000 mobilization rate. That’s damn poor in comparison to the rate at which urban black youths become gangsters and criminals in America.

    What gives?

Small correction, Fred. I think you meant to say “over Sinai.” You were obviously conflating the airliner with the Russian bomber shot down over Syria.

  4. I remember wondering circa 2001-04 why there weren’t more low level terrorist attacks in the United States. Apparently the answer was merely a lack of people interested in carrying them out at that time.

  5. How about we tell our elites to get out of the trying to rule the Middle East business? If they would mind our own business, we at least won’t have to worry about the blowback of terrorism, ’cause nobody will be mad and trying to get revenge on us ordinary folk for what our elites are doing in their countries.

Like you said, Fred, too much dough in it for people who have become way too powerful.

Look, as long as the Muslims are killing Liberals, I think we should just sit back and watch the spectacle.

Liberals defame and hate on white patriots. They say ‘diversity’ is wonderful. They went wild about the retardo ‘clock boy’.

Okay. So, let them have their Muslims, and let Muslims kill them. They would have done it to themselves. As long as Libs don’t care about us, why should we care about them?

Besides, if PC is all about how ‘white privilege’ is evil and white folks must pay for historical crimes, then what’s wrong with non-white Muslims killing privileged whites?

As long as most of these victims are Liberals in blue states and cities, we should just sit back and observe.

Look at the Boston Bombing. Boston Lib arseholes are always calling us ‘racists’ and other stuff. They say they LOVE ‘diversity’. They call for a war on ‘white privilege’.
So, okay. More Muslims means more ‘diversity’. And if Muslims blow away privileged white Libs in Boston and blue cities, that is a war on white privilege. What’s not to like, at least from the ‘progressive’ viewpoint?

If black mob terror is supposedly justified in the name of fighting ‘racism’, then so is Muslim terror and rage against ‘Islamophobia’.

Personally, I find black jivery and Muslim nuttery pretty atrocious, but Libs would denounce me as ‘racist’. But then, I’m proudly race-ist and indeed the only true race-ist.

Libs created this scenario. So, if they suffer, let us just watch.
And more Libs than Cons will suffer the brunt of Muslim violence since diversity tends to be more prevalent in big cities than in small towns where white conservatives are. Also, white conservatives in small towns are well-armed whereas blue city Libs are not. If blue city Libs arm themselves, it is to fight the fictional KKK; they are so deluded.

Of course, this Muslim violence plays into the hands of Zionists.
In one way, Jews try to use Muslims against ‘white racists’. But Jews also want to exploit Muslim violence in the West to make white and black folks fear Muslims and identify more with Israel.
Jews deserve blame for calling for more immigration for Muslims. But Cons are too chicken to mention the J-factor in immigration.

So, Jews push policy that increases the number of Muslims in the West. Jews reach out to Muslims and say Jews & Muslims should unite against nasty white ‘racists’.
But Jews also want white folks to support Israel and Jewish policy in the Middle East.
So, if Muslims commit violence, Jews spin it as ‘Look how crazy those Muslims are. Now, you white folks understand what Jews must deal with in the Middle East.’

Jews win both ways. If whites attack Muslims, Jews denounce whites as ‘racists’ and ‘Islamophobes’.
If Muslims attack whites, Jews call on whites ‘to support Israel since Jewish Israelis live in fear of Muslim violence.’

Personally, I find current Libbyism just as deranged as Muslim nuttery.

I dislike fundamentalist morality(of Muslims) but I also detest immoral decadence as the ‘new morality’.

Jews would like to believe that they are building a grand coalition of non-whites and homos against white cons.

    Look at this:

    http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/in-jackson-heights/MovieTimes?oid=20181258

They are so deluded. I haven’t seen this movie yet, but I hear some Jewish community center both prepares for massive homo parades and offer space for Muslims.

If anyone is to blame, it is Jewish merchants of diversity. Jews use homos to degrade morality, and Muslims freak out with revanchist morality and politics of their own.

And even though Libs are into freako behavior and decadence, they also denounce degeneracy among deviant ‘right-wingers’ as the mindset that can lead to Hitler all over again.

Government now keeps close tabs of people who buy lots of fertilizer.

I disagree with Reed. I think the government can do a lot to prevent terror.

To buy stuff like dynamite, you need permits.

Also, even black marketeers are not willing to sell to potential terrorists since the government will come down hard on them.

Also, internet and electronics not only give terrorists more chance to plan attacks but exposes them to surveillance more than ever.

There has been very few Muslim terror attacks in the West, at least compared to all the horror visited on the Middle East by the West.

Besides, it was the West that weakened secular governments and brought forth all this ISIS mayhem that filled the vacuum.

Also, Muslim terrorism is a combination of extreme Islam and western-style anarchism.

Established Muslim power like Iran, though anti-Western, does NOT train people to go blow stuff up in the West.

  8. Why not allow more terrorist attacks?
The USA could easily cope with one or two 9/11 incidents every year. The national ego may get bruised a bit but 5.000 to 6.000 deaths is not overly much compared to the tolerated 40.000 yearly traffic deaths, 41.000 suicides and 440.000 deaths by preventable medical errors.

The enormous cost of the intell-warfare apparatus could have been used to better infrastucture and healthcare. Give analysts and warmakers an orange vest and let them direct traffic. They’d be doing more for their country that way.

  9. Talha says:
    @Vendetta

The reason is that traditional Islam (which still has quite a sway among most Muslims – whether they are practicing or not) does not comport with ‘jihadist’ ideology. Most Muslims (while understanding many grievances of the perpetrators) stand aghast at the means which they employ. Not only that, if you do not agree with their post-modern interpretation of Islam, you stand a good chance of getting killed by them yourself.

Traditional scholars of Islam were very cautious about this kind of sanguinary mindset; it causes civil strife, is treacherous to those who you have a social contract with and is criminal behavior.

Moreover, pint for pint of blood and pound for pound of flesh, Muslims themselves are victims (far and above non-Muslims) of these self-proclaimed ‘heroes’ of Islam who have bombed Muslims by the hundreds in mosques, funeral processions, gatherings of religious learning, etc. We are talking basic arithmetic here.

I don’t use the DC Metro but do recall the Public Address Announcer at Washington’s Union Station speaking in such heavily accented ‘English’ as to render his announcements unintelligible to the native speaker of American English. Had the same occur at O’Hare in Chicago! I hope Air Traffic Control has higher standards for oral English proficiency or all the security in the world will be of little use if pilots do not understand which runway they are to use!

My guess is Washington is leading us into the ‘informant’ society. Since they will not use common sense in who they allow into the country the only way to monitor who is here is through surveillance and informants. This does create lots of opportunities in a moribund economy though. People can rise when others fall. Need a job or promotion. Well, there are always openings to be had when the person holding the post you covet is arrested or fired for ‘radicalization’.

ISIS is doing Iran’s bidding. Now, for whatever reason, Obama has signed on with Iran…So Obama does have a strategy. It is for Iran to eventually be the power in that region. And if ISIS is an agent of Iran, and if ISIS is an agent of Bashar Assad or if Assad’s an agent of Iran, that’s where Obama’s loyalties lie.

Not that Obama doesn’t carry a lot of the blame for the rise of ISIS.

  19. killing a really lot of people is extremely easy of course. People can throw rocks from a motorway bridge which could cause a crash with dozens of victims. Or lay piece of solid concrete on a railway. With a car you would not even need explosives, driving into a gathering of people would be enough. One actually has to wonder why is does not happen so much more often. Also many places of critical infrastructure like power plants, dams, fresh water resources do only have minimal security.
Everybody knows that, and yet people talk about bombs, guns etc. as if it would be enough to prevent the use of those weapons. In China when they do Amok killings they use kitchen-choppers, which every household has.
In the end most people just seem to be good people and thus this does´t happen so often.

LOL ….. FBI in its 2006 report claimed that between 1990 and 2004, Muslim extremists committed 6% of terrorist activities as compared to 7% by Jewish extremists. The rest were carried out by Christians, nationalists or atheists.

Author Elias Davidsson was born into a German Jewish immigrant family in British-occupied Palestine. He spent his childhood in Jerusalem and Haifa. As teen he spent short period of time in France, Germany and the United States before opting for Iceland, where he lived till 2008.

Davidsson, in his 2013 book, “Hijacking America’s Mind”, rejected the official claim that so-called Muslim terrorists pulled the September 11 attacks. In his latest book to be released next year,” The Betrayal of India”, Davidsson claims that Muslims have nothing to do with the 2008 Mumbai attacks. He claims that both terrorist events were false flag operations carried out by the US and Indian governments to demonize Muslims and Islam in order to fulfill their political, military and expansionist agenda……

Nothing sells like sex and fear
Not even drugs not even beer

I don’t trust ANY political ideologue on Unz review or anywhere else. We have a few science based blogs here and after that their is a steep decline into ideological ranting. However I like skim reading the Unz review political rants for interesting out of the mainstream perspectives.

Fascinating stuff out there. Like why in the name of FUBAR did the CIA and our president think it was a good idea to allow ISIS to sell their oil across the border to Turkey. Finally Putin pointed this out and started bombing the never ending convoy of oil tankers leading from ISIS controlled oil wells to the border of Turkey. Soon as Putin started doing it, we sheepishly followed suit, because that dastardly Russian exposed to the world what was happening.

Good God we live in a country run by idiots. We need Unz review to fund independent journalists to point out just how idiotic we can be. Now these independent journalists can be ranting ideological windbags BUT at least we can obtain fresh perspectives and filter them through a bullshit remover.

    I totally agree

For the Pentagon, Nine-Eleven was a windfall,

check out who was the comptroller of the Pentagon when 911 happened

    a one Dov Zakheim

he’s a citizen of Israel yet served as comptroller of this countries central military establishment. (no potential conflicts of interest?). And while at his job, over two trillion dollars went missing that is still unaccounted for. That’s trillions with a T.

    more on rabbi Zakheim:

Zakheim, former Bush appointee as Pentagon Comptroller from May 4, 2001 to March 10, 2004. At that time he was unable to explain the disappearance of $1 trillion dollars. Actually, nearly three years earlier, Donald Rumsfeld announced on September 10, 2001 that an audit discovered $2.3 trillion was also missing from the Pentagon books [1]. The two sums disappeared on Zakheim’s watch.

in 2001 Zakheim was CEO of SPS International, part of System Planning Corporation, a defense contractor majoring in electronic warfare technologies, including remote-controlled aircraft systems, and the notorious Flight Termination System (FTS) technology that could hijack even a hijacked plane and land or crash it wherever. More from the resume: Wikipedia points out that Zakheim is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and in 2000 a co- author of the Project for the New American Century’s position paper, Rebuilding America’s Defenses, advocating the necessity for a Pearl-Harbor-like incident to mobilize the country into war with its enemies, mostly Middle Eastern Muslim nations.

he has very close ties to Israel and his grandfather and father were rabid Bolsheviks and Zionists respectively

he was born in Brooklyn in 1943 and attended exclusive Jewish schools, spent summers in Israel Zionist camps, which trained the Zionists of the future. As to Dov’s formal education, he graduated from Columbia University in 1970 and the University of Oxford in 1972. From 1973 to 75, he attended the London school of Jewish studies

After, he was ordained a Rabbi. From 1975 to 80, Zakheim was an adjunct professor at the National War College, Yeshiva University, Columbia University and Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut. As he stepped into the Reagan administration, he talked them into funding development of the Lavi Fighter at a cost of $3 billion. The Lavi was a total flop and Israel dropped it, though it owed $450 million in contract fees that were cancelled.

Reagan gave Israel $500 million for its lost contracts. Reagan then threw in a wing of F-16’s as a bonus and sign of good will. Do we see a pattern here, personal, familial, career-wise, of over-the-top Israeli advocacy? Again, during Zakheim’s tenure as Pentagon controller from May 4, 2001, to March 10, 2004, over $3 trillion dollars were unaccounted for. Additionally, military Information was jeopardized and military contractors billed the US for Israeli items: $50 million dollar fighter jets were rated as surplus and the list rolls on. As the scandal of the missing trillion dollars surfaced and Zakheim resigned, Israel was handed the finest fighter jets in the US inventory while 15 percent of US jets were grounded for lack of parts. In whose best interest was this?

Perhaps not coincidentally in May 2001, when Dov served at the Pentagon, it was an SPS (his firm’s) subsidiary, Tridata Corporation, that oversaw the investigation of the first “terrorist” attack on the World Trade Center in 1993. This would have given them intimate knowledge of the security systems and structural blueprints of the World Trade Center.

“I know Dr. Zakheim has been trying to hire CPAs because the financial systems of the department are so snarled up that we can’t account for some $2.6 TRILLION in transactions that exist…” -Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld, during testimony before the House Appropriations Committee: Fiscal Year 2002 Defense Budget Request, as given by Secy. Rumsfeld, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Hugh Shelton, and Comptroller Dov Zakheim; on Monday, July 16, 2001.

    here’s just one source,

    http://rense.com/general75/latest.htm

but I’d recommend copy/pasting any of this to a search engine for verification. Like I did the Rumsfeld quote above.

for Fred to talk about Muslim terrorists and our wars in the Middle East to benefit Israel and 911, without any concern at all over the neocons like rabbi Zakheim and Larry Silverstein and so many others who were obviously behind 911, is for me a little curious. Fred’s a smart guy. What gives?

First , since the jews started the last 2o years or so of wars in the middle East, and destabilized the whole place with the forcible insertion of jews into what can only accurately be called Arab Land, or Region back in 1948 and then continued at war: west bank, other invasions, etc. right up to and including the present…the jews should be removed from the Middle East.
Jews can only be considered as an existential risk to the whole world, and their nuclear capacity must be removed therefore.

Second, because the muzzies have a long history of many invasions of Europe, they must be considered Enemy since there is no sign that they will integrate into Europe. 50 millions muzzies must be sent back to their homelands.

Third, the potential for violence in the US from muzzies is also high, they should be sent home as well.
Fourth, it should be politically recognized that the Jews led us into war with the Arabs. An apology to the ARabs/muzzies should follow, with some kind of aide to help rebuild the Middle East, recognizing of course that Democracy is a lost cause for the Muzzies. They do not have the brains or genes for it. So aid has to be realistic.
World War 2 saw huge migrations of millions, many millions, and without modern capacities for health services. The exodus could be accomplished over say a 10 or 15 year period. Voluntary repatriation would occur when the official program got into gear. All muzzles would be allowed to keep their property, etc.
This basic program will save tens of thousands of lives, because not to do anything in the way or repatriation, will only lead to more terrorism and possibly give the Repugnicans the opportunity to cowboy in the Middle East, and continue their servitude to the Jews.
A consequence of repatriation will include some terrorist reprisals. That would have to be systematically and thoroughly repressed. Not trial by jury, not Programs of rehabilitation or civics lessons, just killing, including a one to ten reprisals for any Europeans killed by terrorists…ten muzzles will die, with no mercy. ( no children to be killed, but women will be killed.)

This is what the insane liberal race-equality true believers have brought us to. It is a liberal childishness that has created this situation. We need Men not liberals. Men with balls but also men who can keep their emotions under control and tell the Jews to go to hell.
White World Restored. Any Repugnican who talks about turning the deserts to glass should be locked up for the duration..

The military may have to take over. It is that simple. The military is led by basically Scots-Irish whites, warrior types.. Our negroes will have to be dealt with too. Since there is no country to send them to, Texas could be set aside for them. Once separated, social peace will resume for Whites. Whether Negroes make it , or kill one-another off, is their business. I and we just don’t care any more.
This is the Webb WorldPeace Plan. It is the only one that will work, given the realities of inequality among the races, and the species, Man, who cannot handle too much freedom, whites as well.
We have had a fifty year experiment with the Negroes, and about a 20 year experiment with mexicans…nothing works with either race, although the mexicans are significantly better, all things considered, than the Negroes.
Another just 20 years of more of the same and the White West is finished, both in Europe and N. America. Whites are down to 62 % of the US population and more darkie babies are being born now than white babies.
This is It. The counter-revolution gets underway now or never, except for massive civil war that will follow when whites become a minority, enslaved by darkies. The Jews/white liberal race traitors will probably get wiped out as people finally understand who led the campaign to make the West a third world hell.

Dear Markin, may God bless you and your family.

I believe you misundertood my point; I never said Islamic civilization and post-modern, post-renaissance Europe (or its offshoots) are in congruity – but that does not preclude the ability to coexist. I think that is obvious to a cursory study of history. Neither did I say Islamic teachings espouse passivism.

On top of that, the idea that ‘islam’ says anything is a complete misunderstanding. There is no ‘Islam says’ because the primary texts are always interpreted through the medium of the person interpreting them. The question then is; who has the authority to interpret. This is where the post-modern mindset thinks they can delve into the Quran and derive rulings without the requisite years and years of study at the feet of other scholars who sat at the feet of other scholars, so on until you reach the Prophet (pbuh). These people who are completely unqualified to make rulings are doing so and are making fatal (to themselves and others) mistakes. They see the verses that you alluded to and find justification for what they want to do, completely ignoring the rest of the corpus of islamic law.

If one wants a good academic talk about how traditional Islam stands in contradistinction to this ‘jihadism’ here is a good source:
    http://masud.co.uk/refuting-isis-shaykh-muhammad-al-yaqoubi/

Anybody who has studied the traditional schools of islamic law should know they have always imposed strict rules on warfare and conflict. I know of no ruling in any school that says you can kill women and children – NONE. In fact I have seen rulings from the traditional schools that even on a battlefield one encounters a force that is willing to use their own women and children as shields you can only engage them without deliberately targeting the innocent and must do your best to avoid hurting them.

I do agree with you in the analogy between the Protestant and Catholic wars – the Reformation was not a table discussion and involved blood, steel and fire. Those looking to ask ‘islam’ to be reformed from its traditional past need look no further – you are watching the Reformation happen on TV as we speak.

    May God protect the innocent.

    Get a load of this.

Michael COHEN exploited the Dylann Roof shooting to shame all whites, attack white Southern heritage, stir up anti-white hysteria, and to take away guns from whites.

He now exploits the recent shooting to calm our fears, attack whites for paranoia and hysteria, and to take away guns from whites.

On the one hand, Jews are happy that whites hate on Muslims because Israelis hate on Arabs and Muslims too.

BUT, Jews also know that they still have important business in the Middle East. And if the West turns blatantly anti-Muslim, it will ruin West’s chance of dealing with certain Muslim powers over there and also intervening with the geopolitics of the region.

It’s like Michael in GODFATHER II telling Pantangeli that he has business with Roth, so he cannot come out openly as anti-Roth.

Jews hate Muslims but still have plans in the Middle East. So, they don’t people in the West to become overtly hostile to Muslims.

PS. Some people say it is unfair to mention the MUSLIM factor in recent terror attacks. This is crazy, but it makes some degree of sense given the larger political context.
After all, if we should name MUSLIMS for terrorist violence, how come we don’t mention JEWS for horrorist violence in the Middle East? Some say ‘neocon’ to mean ‘Zionist’, but that’s just pussy-footing.
The fact is the recent Western horrorist policy in the Middle East and North Africa has largely been the work of Jews. Same in Ukraine.

Muslim terrorism kills a handful in the West now and then.

Zionist horrorism has killed 100,000s and displaced millions in the Middle East and North Africa.

Terrorism is carried out be crazed individuals. Massive horrorism is carried out by bombs, missiles, jets, sanctions(that killed 100,000s in Iraq), and funding of subversion. Besides, ISIS has been funded by US and its allies.

Muslim terrorism is mickey mouse stuff compared to Jewish/Zionist horrorism.

The use of horror by the West in the Muslim world must end.

Muslims are ridiculous, so let them be ridiculous in their own lands. It’s not our business if the raggers wanna be raggy.
Leave them alone, and stop allowing Jews to push a horrorist policy.

Anyway, if we must name the MUSLIMS in the recent terror, then we should also name the JEWS in the mega-horrorist policy that caused so many problems in the Middle East.

I mean what was that stuff about toppling Gadfly? He gave up WMD and wanted to do business.

    Jewish Horrorism must end.

And, muzzies subjected to massive retaliation per Repugnican neoconservative fiends, mostly jewish, but certainly not all jewish, would be a catastrophe. For Whites as well, a guarantee of war forever and possible nukes. Thinkable for sure with the tiny nukes we now have.

    agree

they plan for Americans and Europeans fight the “terrorists.” Muslims and middle easterners were never a threat to us in any meaningful way. Why do we fall for this

well, from my experience from talking to people, both in person and on the Internet, the main reason is moral cowardice. They don’t have the integrity to admit the obvious- if admitting it would be inconvenient. People cling to their delusions beyond all rationality. Liberals will die believing that diversity is our strength even as a hate-consumed immigrant pulls the trigger on their family. (and then they’ll blame the gun). The religious will never doubt the tenets of their deeply felt dogmas. If a politician like George Bush says ‘Jesus’, they’ll suit up their children to go die in his crusades. And perhaps worst of all are the opportunistic ones who simply wet their finger and put it into the air to see where the wind is blowing, and which mantra to parrot on any given day. They know we’re all being lied to, but they tell the same lies, because they see it as personally advantageous to do so. They’re not committed to the idea of eternal war like the neocons and assorted chicken hawks, but they are committed to their cushy lifestyle. Figure Obama (and most politicians and assorted journalists) in this group.

And then last of all are the true believers. They’re the ones who know damn well that 911 was a false flag intended as the keystone of the final enslavement of humanity. That Orwellian realization of absolute power over all peoples, and that boot, (their boot) stamping on humanities face forever. Maybe they were even involved. These are the Dov Zakheims and all the Zionist Jews at the PNAC and their legions of willing stooges like Dick Cheney and James Woolsey (and their legions of useful idiots in Internet forums). These psychopathic, power-crazed assholes will do anything for (more) power. They’ll torture innocent people. Wage catastrophic wars on innocent countries, create refugees by the millions that they’ll use to destabilize other countries and entire regions, they’ll assassinate countrymen, drone weddings, and even rape little boys in front of their mothers so that the boy’s screams will turn the mother inside out. George Orwell understood this kind of person perfectly.

he watched as they ran the Soviet Union and he learned their nature. Today, they’re over here. And they use fear on a population that seems to want to live like cows, chewing their cud, rather than to question authority or the prevailing lies de jour, which might be dangerous or raise an eyebrow.

And that is how it’s always done. It’s all about power.

There is nothing they won’t do to stay in power.

and as I see it, the only way they’ll ever be removed and humanity may one day perhaps in the future breath free again, is when an overwhelming majority of the world’s people are finally willing to say enough! And speak truth to power. When apologists for the official 911 scenario are ridiculed out of the room. When Dick Cheney can’t show his face. When Tony Blair has charges brought against him, and is forbidden from entering most countries of the world.

When Obama and Jeb and Cruz and Hillary and Rubio are booed out of every venue. When George Will is hounded in out of 3 star restaurants and the owner asks him not so politely to leave. When Zakheim has to travel in disguise and someone takes a pot shot at Silverstein. When we come to the place where there is a general awakening, and that 100th monkey gets it, then perhaps ..

yea, and they can’t find enough money to treat the returning soldiers who’ve lost limbs or worse because the money’s just not there! That’s why the Pentagon always needs bigger and bigger infusions of tax payer lucre, because they need a lot of money to keep us all safe! Donald Rumsfeld and Dov and Dick Cheney and Richard Peal are just trying to keep us all safe! They just don’t have enough money for the vets. But those people’s worries are secondary to keeping us all safe!

The Federal Reserve Bank loans out trillions to cronies in secret deals that we don’t need to worry about. It’s way too complicated for us to worry about. Better trust it all to the experts.

The US Treasury hands out trillions of dollars to the largest and most corrupt banks. Nothing to worry about. They’re doing it to protect the economy! They’re saving us all!

Goldman Sachs creates mega-swindles that make Bernie Madoff look like Mother Theresa, but not to worry, they’re just “doing God’s work”, trying to help us all!

The Pentagon can’t account for trillions of dollars it has received nor show how or where it was spent .. not to worry! These software systems are complicated! They’re busy trying to keep us all safe after all!

  48. Talha says:
    @MarkinLA

    Dear Markin,

In honesty, that generation did have a better understanding of the Qur’an and traditions that any today, no doubt. But the battle of Tours happened in a historical context – it took place in a world where normative relations between kingdoms was one of conquer or be conquered and constant expansion of territory peppered by times of peace as drawn up by treaties. After Charles Martel led the Frankish coalition against the Muslims and forced a defeat, he turned around and committed most of his subsequent military conquests against fellow Christian nations. That was the norm – nobody apologized for making war against the Roman empire, Byzantium, Persia, Visigoths, etc. It was (along with slavery, pretty much universal conduct).

However, after the treaties like the one drafted in Westphalia or the advent of the UN after the butchery of World War 2, human beings have universally changed relations between their communities and nations. Muslims are bound to the covenants they have with others as part of this new order – again refer to the lecture that I linked to earlier from the erudite and sagacious Sh. Yacqoubi (may God preserve him).

For coexistence, Europe may not be a good example to look at historically, probably better to look at the Middle East where some of the oldest Christian communities existed even after Muslim armies defeated the political/military structure of Rome and Byzantium. Chaldeans, Assyrians, have existed until recently. Unfortunately many have been driven out as part of a great purge by the ‘jihadists’ after the Invasion of Iraq. But these post-modern Muslims do not want to uphold the covenants that were granted by the previous generations because they are inconvenient.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashtiname_of_Muhammad

For instance, there is no Maimonides without the open civil environment under (many) of the Muslim kingdoms in Spain. Make note of his exile which occurs under the al-Mohads (again, extremists that sought to purify the faith and fought against the orthodox schools – sound familiar?):
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maimonides

But, I believe we are getting off topic. The point of the article was not about historic relations between the Muslims and Christians (which have had their ups and downs), but rather Mr. Reed wondering why – if the deliberate targeting of ‘soft-targets’ is so easy to contemplate and carry out – haven’t more Muslims gone ahead and done it. My response was to point out that, thankfully, this is because it is opposed by traditional Muslim scholars who still have influence in much of the Muslim world. Though I do admit, they are losing influence since the advent of the Internet and the spread of “keyboard muftis” and since the desperation of the situation that has prevailed in Iraq and the greater Middle East after the 2003 invasion.

May God grant you fortune in this world and the next.

“Most Jews probably have no more idea of what their ‘leaders’ are planning than we the people in America know what evil the CIA has wrought in our name.”

When it comes to inner-power details, this is true.
But Jews are still the most informed people in the US.
Among Jews I know, they are more likely to keep up with the news than gentiles are.
Your average Jew doesn’t know all the in’s and out’s, but he knows more than your average gentile hooked to Oprah and Monster Truck Bash.

Also, even if ordinary Jews aren’t insiders, they share the same fears, resentments, and interests as powerful Jews do. This is where Jews are different from white gentiles. Powerful Jews are for Jewish identity, and ordinary Jews are for it too. They share the same passions.
In contrast, powerful whites are now a bunch of cucks who protect their own privilege but undermine white power and unity among white masses.

We need to consider the problem of Jews-as-trees and Jews-as-forest.
If we take Jews as individual trees, most of them are nice people. From my experience, they are more likely to be considerate and conscientious than individuals of most other groups and races. I mean I would never trust a Greek(Eek, it’s a Greek). Or Southern Italian. Or Arab or Iranian or some tacohead. And ‘white trash’ in the South can be awful ridiculous. As for Negroes, they are truly ghastly. Your average individual Jew, I can trust. Sure, there are crooked Jewish lawyers and that stuff, and some Jews play it loose, but your average Jew is more mindful of right and wrong.

So, Jews as trees are not much of a problem. But Jews as a forest is a big problem. Why? Because even though your average individual Jew is pretty normal person, Jews have a certain neurosis about themselves and the world. And if all these neuroses of all those individual Jews come together into a forest, it is truly some crazyass stuff.

It’s like the Germans during the Nazi era. Your average individual German was a decent feller even under Nazism and ultra-German nationalism. He was hard-working, courteous, civil, and trustworthy. But the German soul at the time had inherited some dark neurosis of ultra-racial-nationalism going back to the 19th century. And this neurosis was taken to new heights by Hitler and his loony cronies.
And this nuttiness came to infect a lot of Germans.

So, even though your average Nazi German was a decent sort as a tree, all those German trees as a forest constituted a crazy nation. And it set off WWII. Same thing with the Jappers during the militarist era. If you met an average Japper, even a supporter of the military government, prior to the war, you would have him to be polite, kind, considerate, and decent. As a tree, he was just some nice yeller feller. But the Japanese at the time were under some kind of resentful imperial fever about how Japan must dominate Asia. So, all those Japanese who were harmless as individual trees came together as a dark forest in the Pacific.

It’s like those card things at stadiums. You know the one where everyone holds up a single card and all those cards together form a sign, image, or message.
Each person with a single card is just an individual, and his/her card alone spell nothing. But when all those cards of 1000s are held together, they come together as a mad overpowering and overwhelming message:

It’s like every individual even in a crazy commie nation is a harmless decent person. But when combined into a forest with all the others with similar worldview, they constitute a crazy force, a mad forest.

This is the difference between tree madness and forest madness. A tree madness is the kind of psychological problem that an individual has. It’s like if someone is schizo, that is his problem, not yours. HE is schizo, not you. It’s purely an individual thing. And tree craziness is a clinical matter. The individual really has psychological issues.

But mass craziness or forest madness works different. Most of the individuals involved in this madness are sane as individuals. Most Nazi Germans were sane persons. Most commie Soviets were sane too. Most Jappers during the militarist era were sane individuals.
But each was infected with some nutty ideology. This ideology, within a single individual, didn’t mean or amount to much. But when all those individuals were united as a force/forest, all those traces of ideological infection in the individuals came together as a mass epidemic of lunacy. Imagine a 1000 sane individuals who are normal in their daily lives. But suppose they’ve been infected with some powerful fear or rage. In their individual lives, this feeling doesn’t mean much. But when they come together as a force/forest, it does matter. It’s like a single tree burning isn’t much. But when lots of single trees burn as one, it is a full blown forest fire that can’t be put out. It burns out of control. Suppose a 1000 people have cards that, altogether, spell ‘we are crazy’. But each owns a card, which alone, doesn’t mean any such.

When all those individual Jews hold up cards, the forest image is WE JEWS WANT ALL THE POWER AND YOU GOYIM BETTER KISS OUR ARSE. You’d never know this from meeting a single Jew who seems nice. But then, you wouldn’t have known this from meeting a single German during the Nazi era. He would have seemed like a nice guy.

Also, Jewish Power has gotten utterly corrupt. While most Jews are not crooked like Jordan Belfort and Bernie Madoff, so many of such Jews got too much wealth, power, and/or privilege. One reason is we are not supposed to notice Jewishness craziness and a**holiness in the age of PC. Also, in the name of Jewish solidarity, even sane Jews have shielded bad Jews. Even sane Jews feel such animus against white gentiles that they often stick close with slimeball Jews like Abe Foxman and SPLC sleazebags. And pop culture filth-dispensers and Wall Street sharks.
There is no vetting-netting control for powerful Jews. So, a lot of scummy Jews rise to the top with all the chutzpah and hypocrisy they can muster. Just look at Anthony Wiener.

Because Jews got the media, academia, finance, government, entertainment, courts, law firms, and etc. they can pretty much do as they like. While good Jews may want to flush out the bad Jews, they fear doing so because of their sense of Jewish solidarity. Also, they fear that if they go after bad Jews and make a big publicityof it, it will give green light for others to go after Jewish power.
When good Italian-Americans decided to take on the mafia, America waged full war on organized crime and destroyed much of Italian-American ethnic power.
And when Wasp privilege came the public target of ‘war of social justice’, wasps fell from the top.
So, Jews are fearful of the whole notion of ‘flushing out bad Jews’. It might turn into going after Jewish power itself. This is what Jews feared most about McCarthyism. It was all about ethnic power.

Because Jewish community has tolerated, protected, and (even in some cases) promoted Jewish corruption and venality, Jews are now in some kind of paradoxical situation.
Jews now wage a war on antisemitism not so much because the ‘antisemitic canards’ are false but because so many of them now ring true.
Think about it. Suppose most ‘antisemitic canards’ were indeed false, bogus, ridiculous, and looney tunes. I grew up thinking so. I thought insane and irrational and delusional goyim had gone after wonderful Jews through the ages cuz they’re just nuts and were infected with Judeophobia due to Christian antisemitism and modern ‘racism’. And of course, there was some truth to such assertions.
BUT, Jews were hardly innocents through the ages.

Anyway, if antisemitism had indeed been totally ludicrous, insane, and unjustified, there should be nothing for Jews to worry about. Through education and media, we could be provided with the truth that Jews are wonderful, trustworthy, decent, constructive, helpful, and positive in so many ways.
If Nazi Germany was ruled by the Nazis who could spread all kinds of filth via their monopoly of the media, US and West are controlled by Jews who have the media and much else. So, Jews could relax and calm down and just feed us the truth that will prove that Jews are nice, kind, wonderful, trustworthy, and etc.

So, why are Jews flipping out even today? Because, alarmingly enough, so many current news about Jews — in government, foreign policy, entertainment, academia, finance, law, etc. — confirm many(if not all) of the stereotypes of Jews by anti-Semites of the past. In some cases, the Jewish effort to fight ‘anti-semitic’ stereotypes only validate them. Consider all the Holocaust hoaxes by Jews like the author who said some girl threw an apple over the barb wired fence during WWII. Or, the destruction of anyone who notices Jewish power. Rick Sanchez.
Or the ridiculous notion that grandchildren of Holocaust survivors need reparations too. Talk about sleaziness.
Or consider the UVA story by Sabrina Rubin Erderly. This ‘conscientious’ Jewish reporter sought to smoke out Nazi frat rapists at some southern ‘conservative’ university. Except that she ‘s a pathological liar, a fraud, a defamer, and vicious witch bitch scum ho. A hipsteress version of Lillian Hellman, the dirty lying scuzzo.

The fact is so many things that Jews do today — promotion of pornification of culture, homo & tranny agenda, anti-white propaganda, open borders that threaten Europe, stirring up Negro rage against whites, making white women hate white men, interracism that turns white men into white boy cucks, Wall Street robbery, Las Vegas sleaziness, media deceit, foreign policy madness, etc — validate ‘antisemitic’ stereotypes in spades. Jews are indeed out to undermine and destroy gentile majority power in every Western nation and beyond.

If all those ‘antisemitic canards’ of the past were indeed bogus, Jews could relax. With honest reporting in the media and honest education, they could teach us how ‘antisemitism’ is indeed a form of madness.
But when we survey Jewish power in today’s world, when we consider the likes of George Soros and Haim Saban(and what Jewish influence has done to US party politics), it seems that the anti-Semites of the past were not all wrong. They were as right as they were wrong.

So, the Jewish war on antisemitism is now paradoxical. Jews are livid not so much because the ‘canards’ are wrong but all too often right. And they just don’t want us to notice.

Even the famed Sunni university in Cairo – Al Azhar will not say what ISIS is doing is unIslamic.

And those Muslims living in the U.S. according PEW Polls, 20% of them support Jihad and terrorism.

Furthermore when Muslims show up in the West, they demand we make all sorts of concessions to their 7th century ways – start imposing Shariah law, create no-go zones where outsiders who wander in are beaten and raped. Sweden and France are classic examples of this. Thanks to Muslim men Sweden is the rape capital of Europe because Muslim men view dhimmi women as nothing more than cattle.

These are people we can do without. They add nothing to the West except poison. They should be given the boot and I suspect many will as they commit more mass murder scenes in the name of Jihad.

Well I imagine that the Muslims taking part in the Battle of Tours had a clearer and more first-hand knowledge of what the Koran meant than any Imam interpreting it today does and they didn’t seem to be talking about co-existing.

In honesty, that generation did have a better understanding of the Qur’an and traditions that any today, no doubt. But the battle of Tours happened in a historical context – it took place in a world where normative relations between kingdoms was one of conquer or be conquered and constant expansion of territory peppered by times of peace as drawn up by treaties

how is that last sentence any different than today, as Turkey (of the Ottoman Empire fame) seeks to gain hegemony over its neighbor to the south by treachery, murder, theft and conquest? Or Saudi Arabia as it funds mercenaries and bombs Shiites in Yemen. Or assorted Muslim extremists as they slice the head’s off Christians and ‘apostates’?

it almost seems as if the context has changed very little if at all when you consider what Turkey is doing in Syria. Other than the Western type of suit and tie on Erdogan instead of a kaftan, the fundamental motives of these people seems no different than it was a few centuries ago.

Mr. Reed wondering why – if the deliberate targeting of ‘soft-targets’ is so easy to contemplate and carry out – haven’t more Muslims gone ahead and done it

cow-like apathy combined with the natural goodness of most people and perhaps a tiny bit of cowardice thrown in

    and it’s not just Muslims

Christians countenance far more than they should from their enemies. The blowback that Tony Blair and the British government should be experiencing should come far more quickly from the British people than from the Iraqis, since it was the British people whom he betrayed and sold out for personal gain and sent their young men to die and besmirched their good name (and assassinated [suicided] that scientist as an example). He lied his way into attacking Iraq and deserves a whole country load of the Iraqi people’s karma headed his way to be sure, but he didn’t betray the Iraqis. It was the British people whom he lied to and betrayed. And they’re the ones who’re probably still paying him a pension. Even more so than the Muslims, who were able to muster up the courage to oust the Mubarak for instance, or die trying, it seems to me that its the Christians who we must wonder at their wiliness to be betrayed over and over and over again and always suffer in silent (cowardice?).

    Dear rod,

May God bless you and grant you honor in this world and the next.

    1. You are confusing things; Azhar has denounced ISIS but has not declared them outside of the pale of Islam (aka excommunicated them or declared them apostates). This is in keeping with the traditional view that a believer remains a believer even if he commits heinous crimes and deserves punishment. Not declaring someone an apostate is NOT an implicit acceptance of their actions.
    2. So 20% are out of touch with their traditional scholars and their viewpoints. Surpeuse, surprise – welcome to post-modern Reformation.
    3. I, as a Muslim, completely agree with you if you have a bunch of men with Muslim names carrying on this behavior in their host countries. They are acting like criminals and should be punished or deported and room should be made for those that can positively contribute to their host countries. That is quite sensible policy. However, I think it is quite reasonable also for Muslims to not be rounded up and punished as a whole or be forced to assimilate to the point where they have to leave their traditions that do no harm to others like halal meat, inheritance laws, etc. That is no different than is allowed to people like orthodox Jews or the Amish, amognst others…

May you and your family be elevated in rank,

  53. Talha says:
    @rod1963

Also a clarification on ‘dhimmis’…if these men (who are harming non-Muslim women) had an ounce of knowledge regarding the traditional rules of the status of non-Muslim women in Islamic lands (if in fact they consider them dhimmis), they would not dare lay a hand on them. The traditional ruling for non-Muslim women that reside in Muslim lands or choose to emigrate there is that they are protected from domestic and external threats to their persons and property without the requirement of jizyah. This stands even if she enters alone and without any male relatives to rely upon and with or without children. In fact she has ZERO TAX LIABILITY (unless she owns cultivatable land – in which case she falls under the rubric that applies to both Muslim and non-Muslim land-owners). The difference of opinion here is that the Shafi’i school only extends this to Christian and Jewish women (People of the Book) while the Maliki and Hanafi schools extend it to every other faith (and even atheists/materialists). Since the Ummayads (who applied Maliki law) and the Abbasids and Ottomans (both Hanafi rulers) – and even if you want to include some of the semi-autonomous sultanates in West Africa (Maliki) – have been the successive inheritors of the caliphate, the ruling has been applied to all types of non-Muslim women in practice historically with few exceptions.

The source for the above is Imam Abul-Hasan Mawardi (may God illuminate his grave) in his compendium Ahkam us-Sultaniyyah (Jurisprudence of Governance) which, though written from the standpoint of the Shafi’i school nevertheless dutifully conveys any difference of opinion on a given matter by the other schools. Thus any statement of a ruling that is written in generality without reference to a counterpoint or exception to the ruling serves as a defacto authoritative stamp of consensus on a given matter in the Sunni tradition. Complete concensus on a given matter (as in the above ruling regarding non-Musim women) is rare in the Sunni orthodox tradition and can actually be used to make the statement that ‘Islam says’ as far as the Sunni tradition is concerned.

If you or anyone has a counter-reference (from the Sunni tradition), please provide. I would love to be illuminated on the matter. Please do not cite specific verses from the Qur’an or hadith as those mean nothing in and of themselves due to the fact of the principles of abrogation or qualification by other texts or even a concensus on a ruling among the successive generation of Companions, etc. Oh, and please do not cite a ruling from Ibn Taymiyyah (may God have mercy on him) who, while being a knowledgeable scholar, went against concensus on certain clearly established matters and was criticized and denounced for them (from even within his own school).

True, from my knowledge that is the consensus opinion from the four orthodox schools for free sane males though there have been other scholars (from extint schools) from the past that have stated otherwise. Historically though, this was something that had to go through the court system and was enforced but seldom done because the burden of proof is high.

But, as a scholar explained recently, it was not something that the scholars pursued with vigor, as the maxim reported from Imam Abu Hanifah (may God be pleased with him) the founder of the Hanafi schools, “To deem a thousand disbelievers Muslim is safer with God than to deem one Muslim a disbeliever”. It was reserved “for one who clearly falls into apostasy, states it openly, chooses it as his religion, rejects the testimony of faith, and leaves the religion of Islam altogether” in the words of Taqi adDeen Subki (may God be pleased with him). Conversion out of Islam of course occurred historically, but usually people kept it to themselves or just moved out of their community and simply established a new identity based on their new faith somewhere else (even the nearby city since their were no databases or registries endemic in the current nation states). The judiciary had better things to do unless the person made a big stink about it.

In this practice it was generally akin to the normative practice in medeival Christian law and practice or that of the Jews (when they actually had political power to enforce Talmudic law).

This wasn’t supposed to turn into a explication on Islamic jurisprudence, but stranger things have happened.

On legal grounds, it happens to be the majority opinion based on all the evidence of the primary texts. Any scholarly opinions reported from a dissenting scholar (from an extinct school) just don’t have a living tradition that can confidently trace a chain back and verify the reasoning and evidence behind their conclusion.

Look, I’ll be honest with you, culturally I am an American and thus much affected by the Anglo-saxon evolution of law as it stands today of which religious freedom is taken to be a complete absolute. So the idea of putting someone to death for apostasy (even though it is supposed to be as quick and painless as possible) if they are publicly adamant does not sit easily with me. However, this is one of the few points in the entirety of the corpus of Islamic jurisprudence which causes this gut reaction. Perhaps it would be different if I lived in another culture in another time (medeival europe perhaps) and would think nothing of seeing a heretic burned alive or drawn and quartered (again, neither of which is sanctioned in any of the schools) – in fact I might think nothing of bringing my children to watch along with me.

In all, even though it may seem reprehensible in the post-modern age, it does lend credibility to the authenticity of the immutability of the moral code and its foundation upon the sound primary texts. Our current generation of scholars (traditional Sunni) received this tradition from the previous generation going back in an unbroken chain back to the Prophet (pbuh) who were closer to the sources and eminently more knowledgeable.

I’m far more comfortable in a religion which in its details of practice may change with time due to circumstances, while the moral precepts remain unchanging than say Christianity whose normative voice stated (in an earlier era) that killing someone for heresy/apostasy was both correct and mandated but later changed its position to be something odious and illegal. If the people of knowledge of a religion (who were closer to its origins and who ultimately passed down the sources) could (this was the teaching across the board, not some fringe sect) get something so blatantly wrong (ie. pronouncing something as a moral imperative of the authorities when it should have been condemned as murder) then; 1) how can one take seriously any moral teaching it advocates in any given era and 2) what confidence can one have on their ability to preserve their religion from its point of origin.

This is the same moral code I can confidently refer to when condemning the killing of women and children in war (as it was hundreds of years ago) even in our age of suicide bombing, carpet bombing and nuclear weapons.

Those who reject Our Signs, We shall soon cast into the Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty.

Over their heads will be poured out boiling water. With it will be scalded what is within their bodies, as well as (their) skins. In addition there will be maces of iron (to punish) them. Every time they wish to get away therefrom, from anguish, they will be forced back, and (it will be said), “Taste the Penalty of Burning!”

In front of such a one is Hell, and he is given, for drink, boiling fetid water

Verily, the tree of deadly fruit will be the food of the sinful. Like molten lead will it boil in the belly, like the boiling of burning despair

Their wish will be to get out of the Fire, but never will they get out. Their penalty will be one that endures

I’m quite Sufi to be honest and quite traditional Sunni. Many of the highest Sufi masters were immense jurists and scholars of sacred law. For instance, Ibn Arabi (may God grant him a high station) was known to be either a scholar of the (extinct Dhahiri school) or at the level of knowledge to have formulated his own school (also extinct). This has nothing to do with Salafism, which has broken with the four surviving orthodox schools.

One uses their reason to reach the conclusion of whether or not this is actually a Divine message, if its Messenger was truthful and if it tradition has been faithfully preserved. After that, all else is details. And yes, I take the unanimous judgement of the people of knowledge of any science very seriously, whether it be medicine, engineering, sacred law, etc.

The moral code of Islam is fairly consistent if you make sure to marry it up with the concept of justice (and mercy) in the next world. As far as the rewards in the next world, all descriptions you list are just approximations, as a hadith mentions:
God says: “I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and it has never crossed the mind of man.”

As far as punishment or rewards in the next world, a person has what they intend (this is basic Sunni doctrine – actions are by their intentions); 1) one intends to worship God and recognize His Mercy for however long he has life and thus is giving an abode which exemplifies that mercy – for however long his soul exists, 2) another wants nothing to do with Him and not recognize His mercy upon him as long as he has life and thus finds an abode which exemplifies what God can create when He does not want to imbue it with the quality of mercy – for however long his soul exists. In return for eternal reward, God doesn’t ask for much honestly, I can’t possibly see how the deal is not vastly in one’s favor to make. You believe, and try to stay upright (and in anything you fail just keep asking forgiveness) – very simple.
“O my servants who have transgressed against their own souls! Despair not of the Mercy of God: for God forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

My having high hopes for your status in this world and the next contradicts nothing in Islamic teaching and my own teachers (solid in their traditional foundations) have taught me to have the best opinions of others (Muslim or not), sincerely wish the best for them and look to fix my own spiritual maladies.

Come on, doesn’t everyone punish treason? Isn’t it right to punish treason? Even in the European context, in those Central European countries that had freedom of religion in the Late Middle Ages and early Renaissance (Kingdom of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Principality of Moldavia – sort of -, (Eastern) Kingdom of Hungary and Principality of Transylvania), other bonds developed that only partially replaced religion as an idenfier of loyalty. In all fairness all these cases are some sort of outliers. In Protestant Europe, much later, freedom of sect developed (because Protestantism split into many branches), but not freedom of religion. It was illegal to publicly be a Catholic in England for a loong time.

Our freedom of religion today (and what has been the European norm since the 1700’s or so) comes from the Enlightenment idea that religion is dead and should be eliminated – so it’s not a big deal anymore. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t fake religions, even today, that carry penalties for apostasy. For instance, Diversity-ism – try to publicly deny that and see what happens. Of course we’re not big on death penalty here in Europe but re-education camps? We have those.

So no I don’t blame Islam for death for apostasy, I have no problem with that. I have a problem with those Muslims who want to conquer us. If someone wants to conquer me, I’m going to have a problem with that. So it’s the opposite of that idea now popular with propaganda originating in a certain Nordic country, that we have nothing against Muslims but Islam is so bad it’s beyod the pale. I think that’s wrong: Islam is a religion like any other religions, and their civilisation was one in history like other civs. But if there are Muslims who want to conquer us, we’re going to have a little problem with that.

Let’s put it this way: there is great Islamic art that I enjoy, there are nice pices of Islamic history I like reading about, but in my country I want my tribe/nation to maintain demographic overwhelming majority, just like the people in a certain Nordic country want for themselves. My tribe needs to be the boss and call the shots in my own country and so I’m going to have a problem with people who want to conquer me.

(It’s important to note, though, that historically, there have been a lot of Muslims who’ve wanted to conquer us. So there’s that history. But the Turks know how to make a good deal when they want to. Beyond any doubt, the worst thing that happened to us was being counquered by Russia. They have a great culture too, but that doesn’t mean they won’t rape your mom when they conquer you. So hundreds of years of war with Muslims – so and so; a few conquests by Russia – all hell reigns down on us. So in my country for now, Muslims are not a priority. But I can see how people from a certain Nordic country want to fill up all European countries with Muslims. So there’s that fact too.)

I think you’re mistaken. There is not Islam. There are many Islams. You Americans don’t know in which world you are living. If the House of Habsburg would have thought this way, or the House of Valois, now Europe would have been surely conquered by the Ottomans. I can’t speak for Talha, but I can speak for the “hard” right. We have a bunch of people among us who see the world in black and white and can’t thing strategically. Then we ask ourselves why we loose all the time. And then Americans ask themselves why their allies don’t think they can be relied upon.

In the Anglo-Saxon world there is one Dr. Sean Gabb in the UK, who is pretty much on the issue in regards to the Byzantine Empire, the Islamic World, the Ancient World and other such things that a lot of people over the pond tend to view monolithically and/or know nothing about.

    Talha,

You are dead wrong in viewing Christianity monolithically. Just like there are many Islams (many forms of Islam which have different interpretations of what Islam is – and I’m not talking about the madhabs, I’m talking about Sunni, Shi’a, Salafi, that sort of thing), there are many Christianities.

And fortunately there is plenty of historical information on what Christians have historically believed. Initially killing was considered a sin no matter what – even in self-defence. Apostasy was and is a sin also. The punishment for apostasy is excommunication in this life and eternal hellfire in the next. Excommunication does not necessarily involve shunning as the purpose is not to punish you in this life (rather to keep the innocent away from your evil influence), but if Christinaity is the state religion Constantine the Great or Justinian or Tiridates III or whatever might send you into exile.

Later on, in Western Europe, as barbarian kings were completely intent on implementing death for treason (and in those times, changing your religion pretty much was treason), the Catholics legitimised death for apostasy and heresy and later on even killing in crussading. Later on some Protestants developed the notion that since killing in self-defence isn’t murder, it’s not prohibited.

But for instance in Eastern Christianity it has always been the belief that all killing is a sin, even in wars defending the Church. This is why when Nikephoros II Phokas asked the Orthodox Churches in the Eastern Roman Empire to declare soldiers who died fighting in the wars against the Muslim aggression “martyrs” the Church refused – only people who die nonviolently being killed for their Cristianity are martyrs. Not people who die fighting, but the ones who die for their conscience.

This does not mean that apostasy has ever been ok. But Christianity can co-exist with Enlightenment-style freedom of religion because Christians believe that it is only God in the next life who has the authority to punish sin and that all people have a chance to turn back to the faith until the very end of their lives on Earth. Excommunication simply means an acknowledgement of the severance between the Church and one of its members. Contrary to this Islam (like Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, Confucianism etc.) is a religion of Laws, which seeks to implement what they view as divine law on this Earth. This is where the conflict arises from. And such conflict does not exist in the case of “weird” religions like Christianity or Buddhism which don’t have an equivalent to Shari’a/ Fiqh, Asha, Halakhah, Dharmashastra et al, Fa & Lü etc; but only have internal regulations which are never meant to be implemented by a state.

Thank you for that information – if that is the case (and sadly, most of the West’s historical point of reference is Europe, including mine) regarding the Church of the East (I believe the inheritors of the Nestorian tradition) and other Orthodox churches – then I do stand corrected (slightly). It seems the normative rules of war and statehood as derived from Christianity differed in their ‘norms’ within the Roman Empire versus the Eastern realms (probably after the Great Schism). It seems then that at least the Eastern tradition would be consistent in its moral approach to the matter of apostasy and heresy and war. That still leaves the chunk of a good number of the Christian scholars in the West who felt capital punishment was in line with Christian doctrine. Apparently the further West we go, the worse it gets (Spanish Inquisition).

Totally sensible (and moral) position to hold. Some of the most sensible words I’ve read in this forum.

May God bless you in this life and the next.
