President Donald Trump’s envoy to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Russia was “certainly” involved in the U.S. presidential election, noting she does not trust Russian President Vladimir Putin and that Trump is not stopping her from “beating up on Russia.”

In an interview with ABC News broadcast on Sunday, she said despite the ongoing Russia scandal with some allies of Trump, “there’s no love” between the U.S. and Russia.

Haley was measured in her call to reprimand Russia, noting that while “there is no question” of denying Russia’s involvement, the U.S. should wait to “address Russia” after the official probe is finished. Allegations of Russian involvement in last year’s presidential election first came from the Democrats, who accused Russian hackers of targeting them in order to favor Trump. Their claims were supported by 16 U.S. intelligence agencies and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Since then, Trump’s reluctance to condemn Putin’s style of government at home or his foreign policy towards Ukraine or Syria, as well as revelations about personal contacts between members of the Trump administration and Russian officials during the campaign, have caused an ongoing scandal.

Trump has praised Putin as “very smart” and called him a better leader than former President Barack Obama. But his personal attitude towards Russia has not been echoed by many of his cabinet picks, such as U.N. Ambassador Haley, who has repeatedly held a more conventional position on Russia.

“There’s no love or anything going on with Russia right now,” Haley told ABC News. “They get that we’re getting our strength back, that we’re getting our voice back and that we’re starting to lead again.”

When asked about why her atttitude toward Moscow differed from that of the president, Haley said Trump may not be a vocal critic of Russia but it was significant that he did not stop her from being one.

“I am beating up on Russia,” Haley said. “[Trump] has got a lot of things he’s doing, but he is not stopping me from beating up on Russia …He’s not stopping me on how we’re working together [with Russia] to defeat ISIS.”

Haley added that she and Trump do not trust Putin, saying that “this administration agrees that Russia’s involvement in Ukraine is wrong.”

  14. As others here already have pointed out, the UN doesn’t matter and the position of UN Ambassador is ornamental. It’s the same job President Nixon gave to George H.W. Bush.

Bush did go on the become a president though…

Nixon had to give Bush something. (Such was the Bush family influence.) However, the president knew Bush was a lightweight, a tool born among the powerful. If Nixon had been strong enough to deny Bush that resume-filling job, maybe Bush would have found it a little harder to hang around our government and glom onto Reagan’s election.

TPTB tried to kill Reagan a month after he was elected so their boy Bush could step in and do their bidding. (Ever since Bushes did gain command power, we’ve been doing somebody else’s bidding in the Middle East.)

Let’s hope our PC-perfect, Hollywood-ideal (i.e. brown female) “ambassador” is not another chosen one of TPTB — otherwise, we will be saying “President Haley” and clearing out yet more Middle Eastern real estate in a few years.

So, Sikhs repay religious tolerance by mocking and subverting the religion of their hosts, like it’s their national sport?

P.S., there’s actually Scripture on the OT that says don’t let them establish their religion in your territory. Drive them out, smash their temples, destroy their religion.

  22. Russia was “certainly” involved in the US election.
For something to be a certainty, someone somewhere needs to be certain. Nikki Haley is certain, therefore “there is no question” of denying it, for to question would be to undermine the certainty which places it beyond question, and that would be a highly questionable action in the face of so much unquestionable certainty.
Thus the proposition that Russia was “certainly” involved transforms the abstract noun and the imperative adjective into an armour-plated adverb without any need of proof to confirm it as a self-evident truth.
Armed with tautologies and bolstered by non-sequiturs, Nikki can go “beating up on Russia” in the hallowed echo chamber of the “United Nations”, confident that we are all behind her.
Some of us further behind than others, as we wait for some small glimpse of a truth which might justify Nikki’s certainty.
O brave New World Order that hath such people in it.

  23. Virgile says:

  24. Russia, the red menace, the Bear, tried to interfere in our elections??? Oh Noooossss!!! Say it ain’t so, Joe.

They’ve only been doing it in each and every election since 1919 when the Communist Party USA was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Communist Party of the CCCP (that’s the USSR for you folks in Rio Linda). Walter Duranty, the Pulitzer Prize winning writer for the New York Times was a Russian agent.

Haley was speaking God’s honest truth. It’s about time somebody did.

  25. berserker says:

    – Americans have been involved in tens of elections around the world. Not only that they have been involved in “regime change”. The latest effort in Syria failed. Too bad. The Saudis and the Qataris paid such good money for it to the street walkers in the Legislature.

    – That is alright. Americans are very special people. They get to bully anyone who questions their god-given, shining city on a hill right to rule the world.

    – You have a country protected on two sides by oceans; a friendly neighbour to the North and a pliant one to the South. You could have a prosperous, rich country. That is not enough. You have to run amok in the World. Instead of exporting your constitution, you export violence.

    – All of that would be okay. It is the endless drivel about being special and protecting democracy that is bothersome.

No, Bannon is on his way out and she stays.

  28. Jeane Kirkpatrick, Madelaine not so Bright, Susan Rice, Samantha Power and now Nikkey Haley. Haley is not only beating on Russia but accusing today without a shred of evidence the Syrian government of carrying out a chemical weapon attack against the Syrian civilians in Idlib at a time that U.S. policy is tilting in Assad’s favor and without any justifiable strategic or tactical military gains.
What a fantastic series of US women ambassadors to the UN. It looks like a horror show that borders on the comic. All of them wanting to be masculin to point of growing one, all of them acting mean and none of them showing the beauty or the compassion that makes a woman so special.
If we could know who is their role model may be we get a clue as what or whom they are trying to impersonate.

  32. Flavius says:

The post ought to be a decorative one. Unfortunately the post gives voice, and in a country with incompetent, not to say corrupt media, voice reverberates: giving voice to an incompetent dimwit is a dangerous proposition. Trump appointed this lightweight and now her intemperate evidence free posturing vis a vis Russia and Syria have enveloped him in a media atmosphere that at best will impair his ability to exercise good judgement. I won’t speculate on the ‘at worst.’ This was a bad appointment, as have been too many of Trump’s appointments; we’re reaching a point where it is impossible not to question whether, if Trump was ever serious in particular with forging a responsible relationship with Russia, he has the slightest idea, or the guts, to get it done.
This Nikki Haley is so bad she just leaves you shaking your head; and she’s on Trump – a totally unforced error.
