From Slate: As I've been saying since 1988 when a white real estate developer encouraged me to move to Chicago's Cabrini Green district to get in on the coming gentrification bonanza as the all black housing project was torn down and replaced with upscale condos more in line with its superlative location only a 20...
  • These white professors are Jewish professors, let’s not get the two mixed up.
Whites moving into Brooklyn would not last long so it would be more a suicide mission or genocide by choice.
Blacks manage to resegregate areas they live in.

The compassionate progressives of San Francisco have done a great job of liberating blacks from the weather hell of fog and mist because it is so unlike Africa. Woke people understand that stately Victorians are a micro aggression for blacks. Blacks have been pushed to Oakland that, while warmer, is no paradise like San Antonio for blacks. Chinese and high tech hipsters have been brought in to replace the blacks. It isn't like the Pacific Heights crowd prefers those newer arrivals. The rich just don't care about them so aren't giving them tough love and are content for them to buy and remodel the ornate homes.

Blacks were pushed out of SF to Oakland a long time ago. Now it is Mexicans, Asians and whites that are pushing blacks out of Oakland. The black population of Oakland is now under 25% and dropping and they are almost completely gone from West Berkeley.

Steve, I wish you would do a thread on the Starbucks thing. This story really won't die, and it hits so many bases in terms of iSteve themes and overall current year ideological absurdity. It really is the progtard/dindu coalition's cause of the week.

I honestly can't remember when there was such a low ratio of objective significance to media attention. I mean the prosecutor didn't even press charges even though a clear case can be made that the yoofs remained on private property very, very long after it had been made clear to them that they were not welcome. But the cuck CEO is taking his private jet to Philly to personally apologize to these good boys.

But that's not enough for the hordes. The store was taken over today by BLM. People are demanding the manager be fired or even that the store be shut down for good. And when I was at the gym earlier, the TV on the treadmill happened to be set to some TMZ program where they were interviewing black celebrities about it. T.I., whom I used to respect, called for a boycott. This is madness.

Of course, I have no sympathy for Starbucks. Their in-your-face SJW agenda dates back years, and of course their target market is progbots.

This is classic enemy eating its own. Grab some Dunkin Donuts and watch.

    Who is we?

    Well said asdf.

    I read this garbage:

From an integration perspective, however, that is a good thing: We want whites to move into black neighborhoods just as we want the converse. The question of how to fix racial segregation has vanished from policy discussion for decades. It now needs to return, with an explicit commitment to integration itself.

and i just think ... can't you just leave us the hell alone?

Jews have constantly pushed this minoritarian ideology, until every gullible whitey is genuflecting to the great god Diversity, ignoring the obvious empirical truths:
    -- diversity means conflict
    and
-- homogenous "one people" European nations (and for that matter throw in Japan) are (or were) the nicest places on the planet.

But this stuff is even more stupid and more anti-empirical. Diverse places--i.e. empires instead of nations--are generally unpleasant underperformers. But wherever they have had some modicum of success and stability--India, Ottoman Empire--the way that had that stability was
-- every group keeps to themselves, looks after themselves
-- if a group gets out of line, then state authority comes down on them like a ton of bricks.

These folks relentlessly push diversity on us ... then when you get the expected result--people making choices to try and segregate to be with their own kind--they want to force all the "diversity" together to produce maximum conflict.

I just don't know what to say about this level of either
    -- stupidity
    -- utopian, ideological insanity
    or
    -- malice.
But whatever the motivation it's nothing short of evil.

It doesn’t matter what their motivation is. The outcome is the same regardless.

I've long assumed Bill de Blasio was doing this too. His indifference to the condition of public housing projects which do sit on some of the most valuable land in America now seems almost comically intentional. It's the one thing I support him on. Get them out. Most of the projects are gang and crime incubators and nothing more. If the projects were razed and the people moved upstate or beyond, I daresay the cops would have precious little to do. NYC already got hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans to leave in the 1990s. I still don't know how they did it. But the Boricuas left and settled in the Connecticut River Valley, where they brought their dreadful habits with them. NYC's crime stats improved immediately, but you won't see this factor discussed in "Freakonomics."

” NYC already got hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans to leave in the 1990s. I still don’t know how they did it.”
    The Dominicans moved in .

Who is we? How integrated is the UCLA professors hood? Did they ask the gentrified how they feel? What is it about carmel machiatto's that makes a neighborhood safe?

    Who is we?

    Well said asdf.

    I read this garbage:

From an integration perspective, however, that is a good thing: We want whites to move into black neighborhoods just as we want the converse. The question of how to fix racial segregation has vanished from policy discussion for decades. It now needs to return, with an explicit commitment to integration itself.

and i just think … can’t you just leave us the hell alone?

Jews have constantly pushed this minoritarian ideology, until every gullible whitey is genuflecting to the great god Diversity, ignoring the obvious empirical truths:
    – diversity means conflict
    and
    – homogenous “one people” European nations (and for that matter throw in Japan) are (or were) the nicest places on the planet.

But this stuff is even more stupid and more anti-empirical. Diverse places–i.e. empires instead of nations–are generally unpleasant underperformers. But wherever they have had some modicum of success and stability–India, Ottoman Empire–the way that had that stability was
    – every group keeps to themselves, looks after themselves
    – if a group gets out of line, then state authority comes down on them like a ton of bricks.

These folks relentlessly push diversity on us … then when you get the expected result–people making choices to try and segregate to be with their own kind–they want to force all the “diversity” together to produce maximum conflict.

I just don’t know what to say about this level of either
    – stupidity
    – utopian, ideological insanity
    or
    – malice.
But whatever the motivation it’s nothing short of evil.

Pay people to integrate America’s most-segregated neighborhoods.
    By JONATHAN ZASLOFF

Jonathan Zasloff is professor of law at the UCLA School of Law...

For a professor of "law" Prof. (((Zasloff))) doesn't seem to care much about the Constitution. Who is going to do this paying of people to integrate? Presumably, the government. Whose money is going to be used? Presumably mine -- the taxpayer.

Under what clause of the Constitution does the government have the authority to tax me and use MY money to pay other people to integrate? And don't people have the right to live where they wish under the First Amendment's freedom of assembly clause? So long as de jure segregation is not enforced by the government in violation of the Equal Protection Clause, why is de facto segregation as the result of people's free choices the business of the government at all?

When I was a kid, people told me that I lived in the "land of the free," whereas in the Soviet Union the government told you where you could and could not live.

Sounds to me like (((Zasloff))) is a neo-Bolshevik... like his fellow tribesmen of a century ago.

Sounds to me like (((Zasloff))) is a neo-Bolshevik… like his fellow tribesmen of a century ago.

My father’s recollections of his childhood years (1911-21) included stories about “the Bolshevik army camped outside of town,” and “the Bolshevik neighbor who stole a rain barrel from their house at gunpoint.” (His older sister stormed the chicken-sh**’s house and took it back.)

My grandfather was born in the midst of the fighting of the Crimean War. By the mid-1890’s he was the owner of a nice house and a couple of acres of land outside of a small town in Eastern Europe.

By 1912, having become personally familiar with in-country conditions ranging from Italy to Turkey, he migrated to America, took a job, bought a house — and after a few years of back and forth, finally gave up the property in Europe — to what essentially amounted to government confiscation — and brought the family to America.

The house in America still stands and looks quite good— in a now-all-black neighborhood where many houses have been demolished by the city in response to drug problems and urban decay.

A decade ago, older blacks who came to live there could recall those Europeans who had previously populated the area. But then reveal that they, themselves, were afraid (of other blacks) to live there.

Neo-Bolshevik (((Zasloff))) will help them leave . . . just like his Bolshevik ancestors helped my grandfather to leave . . . meddling in the ‘hood . . . facilitated by taking by gum’ment

Couldn’t have happened to a better company. Howard Schultz is the most woke CEO there is, there is talk he’s thinking of running for POTUS 2020.

A better plan would be to give $100,000 to each black household to relocate to Liberia, only criteria is they give up their US citizenship and promise never to return. Think of all the money we could save in the long run in education, food stamps, medicaid, section 8, incarceration, law enforcement…

Or give $100,000 to each inner city 14 year old black girl to have a tubal ligation. They can have the procedure reversed for free when they graduate from college, or reach age 35, whichever comes first.

St.Louis, if I am not mistaken, was the site of the first public housing project, Pruit-Igoe. It, of course was an infamous catastrophe. From Wikopedia:

The Wendell O. Pruitt Homes and William Igoe Apartments, known together as Pruitt-Igoe, were joint urban housing projects first occupied in 1954[2] in the U.S. city of St. Louis, Missouri. Living conditions in Pruitt–Igoe began to decline soon after completion in 1956.[3] By the late 1960s, the complex had become internationally infamous for its poverty, crime, and racial segregation. All 33 buildings were demolished with explosives in the mid-1970s,[4] and the project has become an icon of failure of urban renewal and of public-policy planning.

The complex was designed by architect Minoru Yamasaki, who also designed the World Trade Center towers and the St. Louis Lambert International Airport main terminal.

The Francis Cabrini Homes, the forerunner of Cabrini-Green, were started in 1942. The area had previously been an Italian area called Little Hell that was made up of buildings that were meant to be temporary and were constructed for housing people who were burned out during the Chicago Fire of 1871. The Francis Cabrini Homes replaced this were 75% white back when they were first constructed.

Galesburg, Illinois is one of the smaller cities that these people were moved to. Here is what the final outcome is. Keep in mind that Seminary Street in Galesburg is the only part of Galesburg that can be called “gentrified” and is a tourist draw. The crime rate in Galesburg, and nearby Peoria, has gone up in recent years. There was also a shooting in Peoria recently where two people were killed.

Twodees, The Buffalo News front page story last week tells how the City of Buffalo housing department spent $4.3 million dollars rehabbing 10 houses to sell to first time, low income buyers for $100k. One house cost $530K to rehab. Our tax dollars wasted in an unbelievable manner. They could have demolished the homes and built new houses for less than the average rehab cost. Remember sewer and utility service was already in place. The government should not be in the housing business. Baltimore tried to repopulate the Inner Harbor by offering "Homesteading" properties that ringed the harbor. The offered worked in the beginning when yuppies bought and rehabbed the brick row houses. Trouble is the rest of the area stayed the same and now the Inner Harbor is considered a dangerous area for residents and tourists alike. Let people move where they wish, when they wish if they can make it work.

I bet the buyers of the ten homes had family connections to government officials.

blacks occupy some of the most potentially valuable urban real estate in America.

While the cities east of the Mississippi have a more complex history, the West Coast examples of this are just appalling.

Oakland : Great location, plenty of land for a middle class who can take BART to jobs in SF, easy access to SF, Berkeley, and Wine Country, and closer to Tahoe than SF. Not as foggy as SF.

    But ruined because of blacks.

South Los Angeles : FIFTY SQUARE MILES of an incredible urban location, right between Downtown, the Wilshire corridor, and the ocean. All the jobs and attractions in L.A. form a ring around the black area. If only non-blacks lived there....... the entire basin would be incredible.

    Oakland is gentrifying big time.

Little wonder, then, that the metropolitan areas doing the best job on integration—among them Riverside, California; San Antonio; and Seattle—are those with a larger number of “black pioneers,” better-educated men and women who travel to new cities in search of new employment. These pioneers have fewer connections to traditional black neighborhoods and are thus more open to majority-white areas.

That's funny. The Seattle Times just published this article 2 days ago called Seattle's Vanishing Black Community: https://www.seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-magazine/seattles-vanishing-black-community/

The district, which spans roughly from the back side of Capitol Hill toward Lake Washington and from East Madison Street down toward the Interstate 90 Lid, was more than 70 percent black in the 1960s and early ’70s when Wright moved in.

Today, less than one-fifth of the population is black, with whites moving in in such huge numbers that in the space of a couple of decades, they’ve become the majority for the first time since the Eisenhower Administration, when there was a sizable Jewish presence in the area.

This was a deliberate attempt to get us out of here because the area is so central and convenient to downtown,” Wright says, echoing a sentiment held by many who fear that blacks are being pushed away to make the district more desirable for whites with higher incomes.

From her house, she can see the tech-company employee shuttle rolling along the quiet streets, picking up and dropping off some of her newer, better-paid, white neighbors. Every so often, she’ll spot real estate agents walking around pretending to be casual visitors or bird watchers, discreetly snapping pictures of houses. Some even knock on her door and ask, “Are you looking to sell?”

    “It’s annoying,” Wright says.

    The hood ain’t the same.

But as any good pastor knows, every goodbye ain’t gone.

If Wrights sells, she knows her home might get torn down and turned into another of those “cracker-box” dwellings, tearing out yet more of the old African-American community’s roots at the same time.

“I’m willing to fight for it, even at 72,” Wright says. “Until the day comes that I can’t, I’ll still be out there fighting.”

How many times do we need to replay history? When (liberal) whites move in, blacks move out. When blacks move in, (conservative) whites move out.

Another “vanishing black community” is Naples, Florida.

The Israeli leftwing paper HaAretz made an estimate that returning to Africa the existing Sudanese/Erythrean illegal settlement in South Tel Aviv would save 100 million dollars per year to the City budget. Israel pays 3000 to those leaving voluntarily but it appears that even 30000 would be worth it. If American cities were not fixated in rigid political correctness they could make similar estimates. They are much wealthier than we are, their safety is worth much more.

If I were king of Starbucks, or any other company with distributed locations vulnerable to this kind of protest, I would:

    (1) Remember the first law of Twitter outage: In two weeks it will mostly have faded away.

    (2) Send most, but not all, of the staff at the location to training of some sort and replace them with an incident response team trained to do the work in a hostile environment. You want some physically big guys as well as some petite women, all able to verbally deal with protesters.

    (3) Push back hard on the original allegations.

    (4) Video everything inside and outside the shop and release edited video to selected media.

The New Yorker's Richard Brody thinks that A Quiet Place is doubleplusungood:

The Silently Regressive Politics of “A Quiet Place”

The success of “A Quiet Place,” the new horror thriller directed by John Krasinski, is a sign of viewers craving emptiness, of a yearning for some cinematic white noise to drown out troubling thoughts and observations with a potently simple and high-impact countermyth. The noise of “A Quiet Place” is the whitest since the release of “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”; as horror films go, it’s the antithesis of “Get Out,” inasmuch as its symbolic realm is both apparently unconscious and conspicuously regressive.

The one sole avowed identity of the Abbott parents is as their children’s defenders; their more obvious public identity is as a white rural family. The only other people in the film, who are more vulnerable to the marauding creatures, are white as well. In their enforced silence, these characters are a metaphorical silent—white—majority, one that doesn’t dare to speak freely for fear of being heard by the super-sensitive ears of the dark others

Whether the Abbotts’ insular, armed way of life might put them into conflict with other American families of other identities is the unacknowledged question hanging over “A Quiet Place,” the silent horror to which the movie doesn’t give voice.

blacks occupy some of the most potentially valuable urban real estate in America.

According to Wikipedia, South Los Angeles is ~2/3 Hispanic.

Poetic justice. Starbucks founder Howard Schultz is the biggest f-ing open border advocate. He’s been recorded telling shareholders that the only way for Starbucks to grow is through (mass) immigration to the US.

    From the Seattle Times today:

    https://www.seattletimes.com/business/starbucks/after-arrests-starbucks-is-talking-about-race/

Johnson, in a video response posted Sunday said of the Philadelphia arrests, “This is not who we are, and it’s not who we’re going to be. We are going to learn from this and we will be better for it.”

Howard Schultz did not found Starbucks. Starbucks was founded in 1971. Schultz bought out the original owners in 1987.

He had run a small coffee chain which he rebranded "Starbucks" and took the specialty coffee focus and store feel of the original Starbucks.

Schultz's contribution was that he realized Starbucks' potential and brought it to the next level (an understatement).

Schultz is a lot like McDonalds' Ray Kroc that way. Both visionary businessmen. But founders they ain't.

  • I can see a problem right here. First, spreading out Blacks into the exurbs and suburbs makes it very, very hard … to round them up on Election Day. Sure you’ll get 98% Black bloc voting for Democrats, but turnout in the distant exurbs will be very low. The secret weapon of Black turnout is that it takes very little to get Blacks in Detroit, in Philly, in Cleveland, to the polls as the geographic area for Get Out The Vote is quite limited and thus favorable. Instead of a small army of people in Priuses fanning out over Riverside County, you get far fewer (thus cheaper and faster) people rousting out Black voters to go ahead and vote.

Second, most Black supported politicians like Bill de Blasio, or Rahm Emmanuel, or Gil Garcetti, require lots and lots of Blacks. Imagine a NYC utterly White and Liberal like say, Seattle or Portland. Hello Mayor Cynthia Nixon.

Identity politics cuts both ways, turn NYC and Cleveland and Philly and LA into Seattle type variants and you will get the same virtue signaling on steroids ultra White identity politics, coupled with “competent corporatism” that embodies the sort of social behavior and corporate culture that say you find at Amazon or Facebook.

Finally, White flight has ended. Whites could take a total bath on their homes in 1966 because there was enough wealth and economic expansion to make that good. Now? There are no mortgages to be had for Whites lacking a fantastic FICO score (not so for NAMs of course and Hispanics) nor are there lots of new real estate developments opening up. Yeah, make lots of people immeasurably poorer and afflicted by Black crime without them moving. That’s the ticket. Yeah. What could possibly go wrong?

There is a picture floating around on the internet of some BLM activist screaming at the top of his lungs through a bullhorn and some White clerk who is looking on inches away behind the counter at the Philly Starbucks. Captions include “Instant Trump Voter” and the like. Ritual humiliation of White working class dudes is a feature not a bug for Black men particularly and White Oligarchs and their toadies and court followers. For those being subject to the ritual humiliation, not so much. From Reginald Denny, to this guy behind the counter.

  • I don’t know about the rest of the country, but nothing has to be done in NYC for more “integration” to happen. The only way there are any black neighborhoods in manhattan and brooklyn is from section 8 housing and rent controlled apartments. In Manhattan, it is mainly due to rent controlled apartments rather than section 8. There are many projects across Manhattan but only one neighborhood that is mainly made of projects, alphabet city.

The rent controlled apartments belong to the lessor until they die or their spouse living there for at least 25 years dies. They cannot be inherited. The last of these owners should die out within the next 30 years. At that point almost no blacks will be able to afford living in Harlem. I live in Harlem. The battle for real estate here is FIERCE. I live here because when I was looking to move to UES, brokers barely kept appointments or called me back. But as I looked further north, the landlords would bend over backward to get my attention (since I am not a NAM). I was shocked. I hadn’t the faintest notion that landlords in Manhattan could be even slightly warm to a potential tenant. I put my application in after a black man and his girlfriend, and the landlord told me he would turn them down just to get me in the building.

An older jewish woman I know lives in a co-op in Harlem as a low-income retiree. She got on the housing board in the building and made the building keep meticulous records of who was and was not paying rent. She then used these records to evict everyone who didn’t pay their rent regularly (who were all black people who had been living there for many years). She could only do this because the law was technically on her side and the landlords were severely on her side.

Then there is a building for low-income families in south Harlem. The Chinese took it over completely. A few “low-income” (hiding lots of money under mattress) Chinese families got in the building, joined the board and changed the rules to qualify for a unit so that no blacks would ever qualify. You have to have like 40K in income on paper and 500K in assets to qualify to live there.

This is how the war to gentrify Harlem works. The landlords need to get just a few non-nam tenants in to their buildings in order to gradually transform the demographics.

In any case, I will gladly take my check from the govt for doing my patriotic duty of furthering integration.

I saw it last weekend; it’s a solid horror film with good atmosphere (the single most important thing when it comes to horror).

That’s funny. The Seattle Times just published this article 2 days ago called Seattle’s Vanishing Black Community: https://www.seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-magazine/seattles-vanishing-black-community/

It's amusing--I kept hearing reports of Hispanic and Black neighborhoods that don't want gentrification. These Hispanic and Black neighborhoods see whites as interlopers moving in, raising rents and property values, making the existing neighborhood unaffordable to long-term residents, such as families and the elderly.

It sounds reminiscent of the 1960s "urban renewal" (AKA slum clearance) where long-term residents were pushed out, to be replaced by the latest redevelopment effort by real estate and property developers. No doubt now, as then, there are monied interests looking at prime real estate for development, while the politicians look to have their campaign coffers replenished by greasing the skids for the real estate interests.

    Pay-to-play--same as it ever was...

Forbes, The Tremont neighborhood of Cleveland is gentrifying. Nice restaurants, but hard to find parking. But not always a problem because there are lots of people willing to take your car from you, and your cell phone and your purse.

"A $10,000 grant to buy a house or pay for 10 months’ rent might induce people to examine overlooked neighborhoods"

So, why should such a grant come from taxpayers? The public housing properties would have to be bought from the city government which owns the property, and that is where the money for the "grants" would be.

Sounds as though city governments want to take the money from the sale of the properties and waste it somewhere else while making the taxpayers pay for weaning the project dwellers from the city's teat.

Baltimore tried to repopulate the Inner Harbor by offering “Homesteading” properties that ringed the harbor. The offered worked in the beginning when yuppies bought and rehabbed the brick row houses. Trouble is the rest of the area stayed the same and now the Inner Harbor is considered a dangerous area for residents and tourists alike. Let people move where they wish, when they wish if they can make it work.

  • I’ve long assumed Bill de Blasio was doing this too. His indifference to the condition of public housing projects which do sit on some of the most valuable land in America now seems almost comically intentional. It’s the one thing I support him on. Get them out. Most of the projects are gang and crime incubators and nothing more. If the projects were razed and the people moved upstate or beyond, I daresay the cops would have precious little to do. NYC already got hundreds of thousands of Puerto Ricans to leave in the 1990s. I still don’t know how they did it. But the Boricuas left and settled in the Connecticut River Valley, where they brought their dreadful habits with them. NYC’s crime stats improved immediately, but you won’t see this factor discussed in “Freakonomics.”

  • blacks occupy some of the most potentially valuable urban real estate in America.

Now we know that a certain breed of younger white person will gladly head for the inner city, but there’s really not a ton of evidence it works the other way.

It would be nice if at some point, someone on the left would make the point that most people pretty much are OK with where they live, even (and especially) if that means they are surrounded by people that look, act, and think like themselves. And there isn’t anything inherently wrong with that.

    (5) ID and profile every protester and release to selected media, noting professional troublemakers, out-of-area people, and those with a criminal record. Name employers for the few with jobs.

    (6) Consult a permanent incident response legal team and tell them you want creative and aggressive ideas on targeting individuals and groups involved in the protest in court and to cops and prosecutors. Twitter outage fades in two weeks, but make sure the legal response lasts for two years.

In general, emulate Apple's internal security department staffed by ex-Mossad and ex-FBI.

This is the Richard Sander of “Mismatch” fame, the guy who researched and wrote the Stanford Law Review article that first launched the anti-affirirmative action idea that blacks shouldn’t be going to upper-tier schools full of high-IQ whites, Jews, and Asians, because the curriculum was designed with a smarter student body in mind, they would be at the bottom of their classes and get low grades, and they would be socially isolated because social groups tend to form around people within a narrow IQ-variance.

Since the mismatch theory was published, law schools and other universities have generally remedied one problem that Sander pointed out: Low graduation rates of black students. At least in the Ivy League blacks cannot flunk out these days. The graduation rates are really high, thanks to “academic support services” that perform various forms of magic.

Sander worked as a housing activist before he went Nazi with “Mismatch,” so I guess he’s returning to his roots. The side effect of helping gentrification is classic Sander: he’s almost autisticly committed to the data and to consistency, so he ignores the optics.

Mismatch was not some that Sander just thought up, but rather was based on analysis of a huge amount of data, some that he had to go to court to get. He even sued UC, his employer, and won the release of law school admissions and performance data. I guess it pays to be a law professor when your research involves a field where the data is suppressed. I’d be interested in seeing the data behind this current proposal.

The very concept was so alien t me. And I then wondered why the US had such a different urban landscape.

I now wonder whether a generation hence, twenty years or so, the situation will have reversed: the US will host clean, pleasant, and attractive city centers and Europe’s will be dirty, depressing, and blighted. it seems we are moving in that direction.

For a professor of “law” Prof. (((Zasloff))) doesn’t seem to care much about the Constitution. Who is going to do this paying of people to integrate? Presumably, the government. Whose money is going to be used? Presumably mine — the taxpayer.

Under what clause of the Constitution does the government have the authority to tax me and use MY money to pay other people to integrate? And don’t people have the right to live where they wish under the First Amendment’s freedom of assembly clause? So long as de jure segregation is not enforced by the government in violation of the Equal Protection Clause, why is de facto segregation as the result of people’s free choices the business of the government at all?

When I was a kid, people told me that I lived in the “land of the free,” whereas in the Soviet Union the government told you where you could and could not live.

Sounds to me like (((Zasloff))) is a neo-Bolshevik… like his fellow tribesmen of a century ago.

My father’s recollections of his childhood years (1911-21) included stories about “the Bolshevik army camped outside of town,” and “the Bolshevik neighbor who stole a rain barrel from their house at gunpoint.” (His older sister stormed the chicken-sh**'s house and took it back.)
