    I think it's mostly economic. As people become more wealthy they see better ways to entertain themselves than kids. Raising kids is a long dirty often thankless unsatisfying job. I grant you it has it's moments but in a realistic analysis it's a non starter.

    Utterly disagree. I hope you’re not a parent, unless you managed to hide your terrible view of your children from them.

    And if anyone thinks that raising children is or should be substantially about “entertaining” the parents, GROW UP.

    Without these children, my wife and I would have enough money to travel far abroad every year, and eventually see dozens more countries than we will in our actual life. We wouldn’t trade our kids for that superior “entertainment” for a minute.

    “Realistically”, raising children has been the most satisfying thing I’ve ever done. And we’re doing it in a place that is not financially or culturally conducive to raising a decent-sized traditional family, Los Angeles.

    I am totally against 3rd world immigration, but to say that “diversity” is driving white decline is far fetched. At present, there is no law that stops white people from marrying early and having many kids. The fact is, most of them don’t want to.

    Stats prove that white women are having white children at a rate that is way below even replacement levels, compared to other ethnicities which are increasing in population. Look at some famous conservatives:

    Pat Buchanan—only one daughter.
    Rush Limbaugh—many wives, zero kids.

    There are plenty of jobs and many colleges left for white people.

    Whites would rather have fun—smoke, drink, do drugs and date and have fun with 10 different women. By the time they are ready to “settle down”, it is too late, as fertility peaks in the early 20’s and then declines. Like taking a new car for a test drive for 10 years—it is an old used car by the time you are ready to buy it.

    We have met the enemy—and the enemy is us.

  • What does that phrase mean, “a competitive examination of your background, work experience, and education”? If there is no written test, how is it “a competitive examination” of anything?

    What it means is that judgment of applicants is now “holistic.” That’s the preferred bureaucratic term, “holistic.”

    What that means is that the hiring official glances through your records to make sure you have some relevant schooling and experience and are not a career criminal, then hires you or not by quota according to your race, sex, and so on.

    This is not a totally contemptible approach. The heart of the matter here is fairness. Yes, we want the best people; but we also want Civil Service job applicants to be treated fairly.

    What it does mean is that selection of government staff is highly subjective – ie open to whatever ideological, personal or emotional whims drive the selectors, within whatever overall quotas are effectively imposed.

    It only means fairness (however that nebulous concept is to be interpreted) if that is genuinely what drives the selectors or if the system is effectively policed to imposed such.

In a racially or ethnically diverse society group differences in outcomes stand out and are more likely to be attributed to ‘structural’ problems in society, since no one wants to think their particular group lags others because on average they just aren’t quite as smart or have the wrong values. Then the policy response is blatantly putting a foot on the scale for some and ignoring the capabilities of others in the hope this levels things out, but it never does and aggravation grows on all sides.

    For starters, trannies need job reservations mandated by law. No easy matter this, because a panel of experts (which will itself need to be diversity-compliant) will need to define various sub-categories making up this group.

    Then, now that we have come to know that gender is a fluid thing, the whole idea of job-equity by sex needs a major revamp. Complex scientific and statistical matters like ‘transition rates of gender self-identification’ in individuals and populations will have to be computed. ‘Crossover transition rates of gender self-identification’ is another complexity.

    Diversity practices and legislation would have to differentiate between ‘Blacks who self-identify as whites (B->W)’, ‘Blacks who self-identify as blacks (B->B)’, W->W, W->B, and so on for each category that can be thought of. The LGTBQ segment within each mapping (W->W, W->B, etc) will need further differential stratification.

    Corporations could in theory achieve 10 stars on a scale of 10. Actual practice may show up the hazards of incremental stars, the chief hazard being corporates going belly-up in this difficult game. But then, true diversity must include a fair representation of corporations in varying stages of decay and collapse.

We just need to sit back and watch the arrogant monopoly firms that enforce diversity unravel, i.e. become increasingly dysfunctional, unoriginal, unproductive and unprofitable, while other firms come up and take their place. At the end of the day, the private sector is still all about profits, and either their competitors(foreign or domestic) or Wall Street will hand them their comeuppance.

Top white and Asian kids in our area these days favor schools like Caltech, MIT, UChicago, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Cal Poly and State U’s because they know they actually have a chance. As they continue to admit large numbers of subpar black and hispanic applicants, the quality of their graduates will decline to a point where companies no longer recruit from them, and their reputation will plummet.   • I’ve been strongly encouraged to take so-called CSR and ESG into account for the investments I manage, and there is a growing and very lucrative industry around these subjects, the leadership of which show only some degree of token diversity. As you might imagine, academics and consultants tend to found and lead these shakedown … err, advisory organisations.

    As far as I know, none have overtly pushed the workforce-diversity facet with any great force, but I tend to not engage with these sorts of organisations (or sign-on to the UNPRI for that matter) out of principle, so I might have missed a diversity push (look here and tell me if I am missing something https://www.unpri.org/about/pri-teams/esg-engagements).

    So this seems like somewhat virgin territory with ample profit opportunities. The problem is that I am a white guy, so I would probably need to staff up with an appropriately diverse workforce to make it work.

    But this is the sort of industry with low barriers to entry, and with sharks like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton just waiting to brand me an interloper and try to undercut me with their own diversity shakedown efforts, the competition would be fierce.

    Then there is the inevitable issue of what happens when the wider public acts on this information contrary to the desired behaviours. I suspect what will happen is that the metrics will be changed, and at the same time all sorts of undesirable businesses will be pursued, much like in the lending business up to the GFC of 2008, and we will then get the diversity version of Dodd-Frank.

    But there would seem to be a serious profit opportunity here. Sort of like the $PLC on steroids. Hmmm!

    Or somebody from middle management that wants to be promoted. This is the biggest problem out there. Once, I was on a trip with some middle level manager who kept talking that nonsense. When I asked him for concrete proof all he could do was babble the talking points that come from HR about how it benefits everybody when the company looks just like society.
