The latest Democratic Party shill to demonize Russia is, I am ashamed to say, my state of Virginia’s Senator Mark Warner, who, on Thursday said “Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a deliberate campaign carefully constructed to undermine our election.” Last Thursday, Warner was the top Democrat on a Senate Intelligence Committee panel investigating Moscow’s alleged...
  • Though I agree with everything Phil wrote, there is one exception; his theory on Hoplite Warfare.

I am not sure what histories he is referencing but the ones I have read suggest an opposite form of thinking on the part of Greek Hoplites.

One, the veterans always were to the rear of a phalanx so that they could ensure that new recruits would not retreat.

Two, most Hoplites were merely simply farmers or tradesmen who often did not have the monies to purchase extravagant protective armor so those that did have armor would have been few within a Hoplite phalanx.

Three, ancient Hoplite warfare was often quite quick as wielding heavy swords and shields was quite exhausting. Most engagements lasted no longer than 10 to 30 minutes after which an opponent would retreat yielding the battlefield. As a result, the danger of death and wounding was actually for only a short period of time.

Four, when an opponent did resign from the battlefield, Hoplite honor on the battlefield prohibited the winner of the engagement to pursue their defeated opponent.

This is a description of the original Hoplite technique on the battlefield. As both Sparta and Athens rose in prominence over the years, both City States engaged in far more serious warfare both between themselves and the Persians, lending itself to much bloodier conflicts than that of the original Hoplite warfare. However, by this time ancient Hoplite warfare had evolved into a more deadly form of conflict.

And surely, Alexander the Great and his Macedonians were quite adept at inflicting quite a bit of pain on their enemies. However, the Macedonians also made greater use of cavalry since they actually developed the techniques of successful, combined-arms combat.

HCM was a communist long before the war. So there are two options: one, he changed ideologies like he changed hats, or two, he was always a communist and tried to make nice with America the way Tito made nice with the British.

Only Ho Chi Minh knew what was in his mind and whether he was 'left' or not. Perhaps he was both: a blend of nationalism and communism/socialism. The following tells me he was a nationalist first.

    {In 1945 and 1946, Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh wrote at least eight letters to US President Harry Truman and the State Department asking for America’s help in winning Vietnamese independence from the French. He wrote that world peace was being endangered by French efforts to reconquer Indochina and he requested that “the four powers” (US, Soviet Union, China, and Great Britain) intervene in order to mediate a fair settlement and bring the Indochinese issue before the United Nations. This was a remarkable repeat of history. In 1919, at the Versailles Peace Conference following the First World War, Ho Chi Minh had appealed to US Secretary of State Robert Lansing (uncle of Allen Dulles and John Foster Dulles, whom Lansing appointed to the US delegation) for America’s help in achieving basic civil liberties and an improvement in the living conditions for the colonial subjects of French Indochina. His plea was ignored. His pleas following the Second World War were likewise ignored, with consequences for Vietnam, the rest of Indochina, and the United States we all know only too well. Ho Chi Minh’s pleas were ignored because he was, after all, some sort of communist; yet he and his Vietminh followers had in fact been long-time admirers of the United States. Ho trusted the United States more than he did the Soviet Union and reportedly had a picture of George Washington and a copy of the American Declaration of Independence on his desk. According to a former American intelligence officer, Ho sought his advice on framing the Vietminh’s own declaration of independence. The actual declaration of 1945 begins: “All men are created equal. They are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.}

  • Speaking of ChickenHawks, let us reflect upon Mitt Romney.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitt_Romney

    QUOTE FROM ABOVE :

. . . . supported Nixon’s ongoing Cambodian Incursion as a sincere attempt to bring the war to a conclusion.[48] During the U.S. military draft for the Vietnam War, Romney sought and received two 2-S student deferments, then a 4-D ministerial deferment while living in France as a Mormon missionary. He later sought and received two additional student deferments.[27][49] When those ran out, the result of the December 1969 draft lottery ensured he would not be selected.[27][49][50].

Mitt has five sons, and based on prior reading I am confident in stating that his strong and successful five sons have not served their country in any military capacity — unless, perhaps, they have profited financially from “America’s Forever War” .

In my next comment, I will examine the ChickenHawk Donald Trump from the same perspective.

    Signed

    PHIL,

ON THE SCOTT HORTON SHOW - you said that American intelligence assets in Syria were "considering going public" to say that Trump's airstrikes were made under false pretenses, and that their evidence showed that the Russian assessment/explanation was correct.

So now, with it looking like a one-off symbolic gesture, this will be swept under the rug? The "Assad committed this horrendous act" meme will be left intact, thus paving the way for his removal and Syria's dismemberment?

I know these guys/gals have families to feed and other considerations, and whistleblowing is not a piece of cake, but there must be some way to do this. How about a closed-door hearing? Can you approach Ron Paul and Tulsi?

Considering the amount of money involved – both from weapon-dealers and oilmen in US/EU/Israel – the whistleblowers could be dealt in a most decisive matter by the war profiteers.
I wonder, would these whistle-blowers be branded “anti-semitic?”

I think Ho Chi Minh was left leaning from the beginning.

Only Ho Chi Minh knew what was in his mind and whether he was ‘left’ or not. Perhaps he was both: a blend of nationalism and communism/socialism. The following tells me he was a nationalist first.

    {In 1945 and 1946, Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh wrote at least eight letters to US President Harry Truman and the State Department asking for America’s help in winning Vietnamese independence from the French. He wrote that world peace was being endangered by French efforts to reconquer Indochina and he requested that “the four powers” (US, Soviet Union, China, and Great Britain) intervene in order to mediate a fair settlement and bring the Indochinese issue before the United Nations. This was a remarkable repeat of history. In 1919, at the Versailles Peace Conference following the First World War, Ho Chi Minh had appealed to US Secretary of State Robert Lansing (uncle of Allen Dulles and John Foster Dulles, whom Lansing appointed to the US delegation) for America’s help in achieving basic civil liberties and an improvement in the living conditions for the colonial subjects of French Indochina. His plea was ignored. His pleas following the Second World War were likewise ignored, with consequences for Vietnam, the rest of Indochina, and the United States we all know only too well. Ho Chi Minh’s pleas were ignored because he was, after all, some sort of communist; yet he and his Vietminh followers had in fact been long-time admirers of the United States. Ho trusted the United States more than he did the Soviet Union and reportedly had a picture of George Washington and a copy of the American Declaration of Independence on his desk. According to a former American intelligence officer, Ho sought his advice on framing the Vietminh’s own declaration of independence. The actual declaration of 1945 begins: “All men are created equal. They are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.}

HCM was a communist long before the war. So there are two options: one, he changed ideologies like he changed hats, or two, he was always a communist and tried to make nice with America the way Tito made nice with the British.

The more our “ruling class” in Washington has little or nothing to do with the average American or, to be more precise, the class of Americans called upon to fight and die in the wars that are constantly being promoted

    It has always been thus.

The Constitution created a ruling class. It serves the aristocracy, not the people. It was never put before the people for ratification.

Patrick Henry left the Convention because he said, " I smell a rat". He also said the Constitution would create another empire...

The Federalists were rich Masons who wanted to perpetuate their power.

The Revolutionary War was won under the Articles of Confederation.

The Treaty of Paris was signed under the A. of C.

The putative defect of the Articles was that Congress depended on the goodwill of the States. Gee, how awful...

“The Revolutionary War was won under the Articles of Confederation.

The Treaty of Paris was signed under the A. of C.”

I don’t believe your first sentence is true, since the A of C were promulgated around the same time as our victory at Yorktown. The government that conducted the war was more loosely organized than that under the A of C; the A of C was a small step towards centralization, that presaged the Constitution.

I’m 90% sure that your second sentence is correct.

    {I used to believe that there was some form of noble or honorable reason for fighting in Vietnam, like opposing communism or something.}

Not widely publicized here in US, but Ho Chi Minh was a Vietnamese nationalist/patriot, before he was a Communist. After WW2, he approached Americans _first_ and requested help in ousting the hated French overlords.

His thinking was that since Americans themselves had thrown out their English overlords, and since America was the "land of the free......" and all that, Americans would embrace his liberation cause readily. He was wrong: he was turned down. (I think it was Eisenhower, but could be wrong). Americans were more interested in imperial conquest after WW2 and war profiteering, as you noted. In desperation HCM turned to USSR and China.

The whole 'domino' theory propounded by the war criminal Kissinger - the doyen and granddaddy of war-criminal Neocons of today - was bogus from the get-go. Vietnam and US have a thriving trade relationship today, despite Vietnam officially being a Communist state.

All those ~55K American (mostly) young men KIA and 10s of 1,000s of them WIA/maimed, living on streets, etc and about 3 million Vietnamese killed - for what?

I think Ho Chi Minh was left leaning from the beginning.

one of the main reasons the MIC had to give up on Vietnam was due to fragging. It eventually became very popular.

imagine you're a dogface grunt in a war, and by now you know it's a crock to make some men richer while poor men are expected to die killing other poor men (and women and children) on the other side of the planet. So your agenda is to stay alive and try to keep as many of your fellows alive as you can. And then comes in the new lieutenant Marco Rubio, straight out of university and officer's school. He's never had so much as a hangnail or fired a weapon in battle, but by golly he's going to make colonel if it costs the life of every enlisted man he's got command over. So the first thing he does when he arrives is to order you and your fellow soldiers on a suicide mission (while he stays behind) to prove his mettle.

Oops, a grenade slipped out of someone's hand!

When I think of Dick Cheney or all the rest of these murderous cowards and traitorous chicken-hawks, I think of fragging ;)

(I'm not a passivist, and I agree with destroying the sub-human head-slicers of ISIS. But if my son or daughter were ordered to kill innocent people for the benefit of Israel or some wealthy scum like Cheney, then I'd rather see the wealthy scum get greased ; )

“passivist” is a real word, and not a synonym for pacifist. I think passivists might tend towards pacifism, though.

ON THE SCOTT HORTON SHOW – you said that American intelligence assets in Syria were “considering going public” to say that Trump’s airstrikes were made under false pretenses, and that their evidence showed that the Russian assessment/explanation was correct.

So now, with it looking like a one-off symbolic gesture, this will be swept under the rug? The “Assad committed this horrendous act” meme will be left intact, thus paving the way for his removal and Syria’s dismemberment?

I know these guys/gals have families to feed and other considerations, and whistleblowing is not a piece of cake, but there must be some way to do this. How about a closed-door hearing? Can you approach Ron Paul and Tulsi?

Sadly, Tillman had the very best of intentions but he was willfully deceived so his actions were wrong and not honourable. He might have used the experiences of previous conflicts prosecuted on lies, such as Vietnam, as a warning against being lied to.

No, the act, as long as you were convinced you were killing a child molester, would have been honorable, noble even. The dishonorable act would have been the lie. And if you were to kill the liar, once you’d discovered you had been deceived, then that too would be honorable and noble.

It all boils down to what’s in our hearts, and minds. When Pat Tillman suited up to go kill the bastards who did 9/11, he was acting honorably and nobly because of what was in his heart.

consider, six months after 9/11, how many men on the planet would have relished the opportunity to put a bullet between Osama Bin Laden’s eyes? A billion? Two? More perhaps?

Even I was once confused about who did that heinous and unspeakable crime, perhaps you were too. If all those men had been deceived (and they were ; ), were they all dishonorable at the time for harboring murderous intentions against an innocent (of that crime anyways) man?

There are not many data about Adam's genealogy (born into a Jewish family), but his career is a clear indication he is related closely to the clan.

Schiff's granddaughter, Dorothy Schiff, was the owner and Publisher of the New York Post for over 40 years. She once claimed to have "had a relationship" with Franklin D Roosevelt.
Kareena Gore-Schiff, the daughter of former Senator, almost US President, and Global Warming con man Al Gore, is married to Andrew Schiff, the great great grandson of Jacob.

I have an acquaintance who was drafted and sent to Vietnam in a combat specialty - forward artillery spotting - early on in the war. My friend has always been vehemently outspoken that fragging, rampant drug use, and other evidences of demoralization were very rare until McNamara decided it was a good idea to lower draft standards and send low IQ morons to Vietnam. My acquaintance tells me that up to that point almost all US combat troops in Vietnam had the common sense to realize that they were stuck in the Vietnam hellhole together but as long as they could trust each other and watched out for one another they had a pretty good chance of surviving to get home.

McNamara's morons changed this. They were a menace to themselves and everyone around them. They could not adjust to military discipline and constantly engaged in behaviors that endangered themselves and others. According to my friend it was mostly McNamara's morons that fragged others - not just officers by the way - doped themselves up dangerously, and engaged in all the other insanely dangerous behaviors that qualified draftees and other troops avoided.

Why dance around the subject of race? Why not just say black morons? My brother did everything he could to stay out of Vietnam. But when he had to join he joined up with some elite force of Marines, not the black moron army.

He knew the survival rates of Marines was much higher.

At this point, the only thing that's going to redeem Sodom-on-the-Potomac is a major Lost War...possibly including a 20-megaton airburst over the Capitol building. The “cultivators” forgot that their own well-being depends on the latter kind. It seems that unless the “cultivators” kids start dying out of the US-provoked wars and their unintended consequences, the stupid order (of ambitious opportunists) will continue to persist. If the CIA suddenly has a choice of competent and honest personnel, the organization would reject the choice in horror because that would mean the end of free lunch for the “deciders” and their operatives down the ladder. Very acute observation! There is plenty about Jacob "The Most Influential Man in U.S. History ", even on Google. No secret at all, much praise all over.

If somebody tells me a lie that you rape and kill children and I stab you in the chest, however honourably I may consider the deed it would be me who acted dishonourably by killing an innocent, correct?

Sadly, Tillman had the very best of intentions but he was willfully deceived so his actions were wrong and not honourable. He might have used the experiences of previous conflicts prosecuted on lies, such as Vietnam, as a warning against being lied to.

The saddest part, in addition to the loss of a seemingly very good young man (and many thousands more), the deceivers went unpunished and continue with their retinue of deceptions to this very day.

There are no “Honorable” men in the military.

there are two people I bring up occasionally because they both are what I consider American heroes and both of them served honorably and then were cynically lied about by the Deepstate/CIA/Zio-Fiend in an attempt to further exploit them for perfidious reasons.

Pat Tillman and Jessica Lynch. You know their stories, and you know that these two simple Americans are as honorable as they get. One of them is dead because he was honorable. And I suspect that there are very many more like them, who quietly serve honorably. But perhaps once you get to a certain level, you must sacrifice your honor to advance. IDK, because I don't run in those circles. But I do know men who've served and are honest men, deep down.

What I'm thinking about right now are the generals who Lindsey Graham was grilling in a Senate hearing awhile back and demanding to know why these generals haven't shot down Russian jets in Syria. And the generals were replying that they were not authorized to start a war with Russia. And Graham was clearly vexed by their obstinate instance on respecting the chain of command. I don't know if those generals were honorable or not, but compared to Lindsey Graham, they looked positively Cincinnatus

Rurik, what is a woman [ Lynch] doing in the proximity of a war zone other than being a liability? This is part of the smashing of the pillars of society- this cancerous political correctness.

Ok, so Tillmman became “aware” after his enlistment- and in his demise became honorable- but was young and ignorant/deceived [as I stated] to think serving the Fiend was acceptable behavior.

The allegation by Rubio that they discovered an IP address from Russia can only make sense if we did not discover the week before that the CIA uses spy techniques that leaves a fingerprint of foreign nations. The exposure of Hillary’s gang emails that shows racist and anti Semitic comments could have made the young PC nazis avoid voting for her. If that is true, why don’t we compare that defamation of Hillary through her own email with the defamation of Trump by NBC pu-ssy grabbing story, the Trump university, the Trump steaks, and the 24×7 lies from the New York Times, Washington Post, and all the mainstream press. There was nonstop hate campaign against Trump not only in the US, but around the world. At the end of the day it was obvious that there were two messages 1- We want to make America great again by bring more jobs and having better trades and less wars. 2- It is about time that a woman be president, and especially this one who spent her life agitating for socialist liberal issues like gender identities and race bating. The American people chose to have a better economic future than having a woman as president. End of story. Get use to it. Hillary’s loss against the inarticulate businessman is similar to McCaign loss to a socialist community activist with a Muslim name. Both Hillary and McCain are more of empty suits than they portrayed.

Trump was elected promising to seek more peace. But it is Americans (aka gringos or yankees) who brought this on themselves, by accepting the rule of money changing thieves and plutocrat monsters. They (me too) accepted government “schooling” for their children even after they expelled prayer, the Bible, and the 10 commandments and began teaching that Genesis One was wrong, that God did not create the world.

So naturally the next generation got a reprobate mind and was powerless against such logical inanities as pretending the sex chromosomes are meaningless for deciding sex, while other chromosomes deserve special treatment, and “democracy” means fines and prison for exercising your religion.

Our crowd of politicians is fond of talking about war as if it were some kind of diversion being featured on a monopoly board and that is precisely because they have no skin in the game.

Even Stalin had a son (Yakov) who fought on the front lines until being captured by the Germans. Stalin even rebuffed German attempts to trade him for a German field marshal saying that his son was no different than the millions of other Russian sons that were captured.

War is indeed an easy decision for the American ruling class since they personally don't fight in them or have any loved ones that do. And Jews and Jewish neocons might fight, but only for Israel.

That’s an interesting point. Up to WWI the ruling classes across the world (i.e. the Aristocracy) had strong military traditions and provided the officer corps who led from the front and often had disproportionate casualties.

In fact, many of Britain’s great estates were founded on land awarded by the Crown to successful military leaders e.g. the Dukedom of Marlborough – 1st Duke of Marlborough: John Churchill – Winston Churchill’s forbearer. It was understood that Aristocracy = Military leadership and they accepted that as their traditional responsibility.

I used to believe that there was some form of noble or honorable reason for fighting in Vietnam, like opposing communism or something. But I've since become convinced that is was simply an imperial war to take over the colony from France, who had lost the will to keep it from the locals who wanted them out. And then it simply turned into a lucrative cash cow for the war pig, MIC scum and their assorted whores in government. Like Johnson and McNamara, as you mention. conscripted citizen manpower to mercenary (all volunteer)

I know a lot of young people who join simply because they're poor and have no prospects. Hardly what I'd consider Blackwater type mercs. The mercs deserve what they get, but I hold no animosity towards the poor youths from America's heartland or urban ghettos who join as perhaps their only hope for an opportunity. They don't join to kill people or to get rich, like Blackwater types, but rather just hope to act as support staff until their time is up and they can finally afford college. Not cowards, but nothing like mercenaries either.

At least those are the types I'm familiar with.

“Russiagate” certainly seems to scare some people! Not a single day now passes without an article appearing somewhere on the US internet trying to sweep it under the carpet! “No evidence” is an argument for a court of law, and even there, lack of evidence is not proof of innocence. In the court of public opinion, both Trump and Putin must prove their innocence and no evidence simply suggests that the evidence has been successfully covered up.
Mr Giraldi proceeds to make a series of assertions for which he, well … produces no evidence! Why would a conflict between Russia and NATO over Ukraine be WWIII? Why would it be a “nuclear holocaust”? Why would such a conflict involve American soldiers foot-slogging, Vietnam-style? Why does he believe that Trump ever intended to have a “rapprochement with Russia”? So far, he has done nothing that’s favourable to Putin and quite a few things that are unfavourable to him. Actions speak louder than words!

There can be little doubt that Russia would roll over NATO forces in Europe without too much fuss or delay. The ego-driven US Generals who see NATO troops the way that the Romans viewed their auxiliaries would talk loud and tough and very likely escalate. Russians having suffered over 25 million casualties within living memory in The Great Patriotic War are unlikely to backdown so Giraldi as usual, is not far off the mark, if at all.

  • Trump, the dangerous clown:

“It( the fake chemical attack) crossed a lot of lines with me. When you kill innocent children – innocent babies – with chemical gas… that goes beyond red lines,”

    Trump told reporters on Wednesday.
Trump said the alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria “cannot be tolerated,” but he did not say what the US might do in response. He blamed the incident on the government in Damascus.

“These heinous acts by the Assad regime cannot be tolerated,” added Trump. “My attitude toward Syria and Assad has changed very much. What happened yesterday is unacceptable to me.”

Russia vetoes US co-authored resolution against Syria

    http://theduran.com/russia-vetoes-us-co-authored-resolution-against-syria/

Russia has just vetoed a resolution proposed jointly by the US, UK and France. The resolution would have condemned Syria for a chemical weapons attack near Idlib.
The US, UK and France have been exposed as relying on fake news sources, including the al-Qaeda affiliated White Helmets, as a basis for their condemnation, in spite of the fact that the clear evidence indicates that the chemical weapons in question belonged to a terrorist group and not the Syrian government which forfeited its chemical weapons stock in 2013.

ZUSA, ZUK and France have been supporting Wahhabi nutjobs in Syria since 2011.

That looks like the case. RT has a good article that shows Trump's tweets in 2013 admonishing Obama not to go to war over the then chemical attacks since it wasn't worth it. When confronted about that tweet and his recent pronouncements he said he's "changed and is flexible on the issue". If he's flexible on Syria then he's flexible on controlling our borders and building a wall and the rest of his signature issues that got him elected.

Testimony (and NOT by the Russians) at UN today:

"Delivery method of chemical weapons has NOT BEEN DETERMINED"

    Well, Robing,
What I can say with 100% certainty is that the Syrian military and government did NOT use chemical weapons against ZUSA’s Wahhabi mercs in Syria, now or ever. This is just garbage in , garbage out. As moa, a retired German army officer says:

Al-Qaeda in Syria and its subordinate “moderate rebels” are being defeated in their last big attack on Hama governate. The Russian defense ministry said that more than 2,000 Jihadis had been killed during the failed attack. Another attack on Latakia was stopped cold by massive Russian air strikes on the staging areas. Al-Qaeda’s back yard in Idleb is under constant air interdiction.
The usual response when under such pressure are incidents of “chemical attacks” “on civilians”. Such is claimed today in Khan Sheikhoun. The video footage, taken (when?) in a White Helmets base, shows “rescuers” spraying water on people who are claimed to have been effected by Sarin. If this were a real chemical incident involving Sarin or similar stuff these unprotected, unprofessional “rescuers” would be heavily effected if not dead.
Conveniently this incident also happens just two days before another international conference on Syria. The heavy media attention is likely the starting shot of a new campaign of CIA support for al-Qaeda in Idleb and a second leg of Turkey’s invasion of Syria.

  • Good comment and I’d like to add that Ho Chi Minh tried to approach Woodrow Wilson in Paris in 1919 or 20 for assistance in independence but was snubbed.

Uncle Ho fought on the side of the Allies during WW2 thinking that FDR would help his country, but that swine betrayed him too.

He also tried to appeal for help from Truman via letters and at least one telegram but as far as I can tell, the obnoxiously pompous dimwit also snubbed him . Apparently didn’t even bother to respond. Truman did yield to requests for support from the Zionist contingent however….

    As for Eisenhower, he wrote,

I have never talked or corresponded with a person knowledgeable in Indochinese affairs, who did not agree that had an election been held as of the time of the fighting, possibly 80 percent of the population would have voted for the Communist Ho Chi Minh as their leader rather than [the French- appointed ex-emperor] Chief of State Bao Dai.

Eisenhower, as you seem already aware, bears a lot of responsibility for the extremely useless carnage in that unfortunate country. Those folks never were a threat to the USA in any shape or form whatever.

    It has always been thus.

The Constitution created a ruling class. It serves the aristocracy, not the people. It was never put before the people for ratification.

Patrick Henry left the Convention because he said, ” I smell a rat”. He also said the Constitution would create another empire…

The Federalists were rich Masons who wanted to perpetuate their power.

The Revolutionary War was won under the Articles of Confederation.

I don't believe your first sentence is true, since the A of C were promulgated around the same time as our victory at Yorktown. The government that conducted the war was more loosely organized than that under the A of C; the A of C was a small step towards centralization, that presaged the Constitution.

I'm 90% sure that your second sentence is correct.

Here it comes again. As the enemies of peace continue to pressure a new US President into deeper war commitments overseas, and as Washington’s Deep State works relentlessly opposing Russian moves in Syria at every turn, the war drums have started again – beating harder than ever now, clamouring for a new US-led attack on Syria. This morning we saw the familiar theme emerge, and just in time to provide a convenient backdrop to this week’s Brussels’ ‘Peace Talks’ and conference on “Syria’s Future”.

The US-led ‘Coalition’ prepares to make its end-run into Syria to ‘Retake Raqqa,’ and impose its Safe Zones in order to partition Syria, more media demonization of the Syrian government appears to be needed by the West.

Relax: historically, those who most enthusiastically support going to war have generally been the ones least exposed to danger on the battlefield.

As a matter of fact. the louder a politician, general or thinktank member clamors for war, the more certain you can be that he won't be in the line of fire. Cowards constitute a far more common species than heroes, certainly among politians. Indeed, most politicians in the US and in the US vassal states in Europe are utterly venal cowards and idiots, merely interested in stuffing their pockets, filling their stomachs, bedding their mistresses (m/f), or worse, raping infants and small children.

We should consider ourselves lucky that problems aren't far worse than they actually are.

    {I used to believe that there was some form of noble or honorable reason for fighting in Vietnam, like opposing communism or something.}

All those ~55K American (mostly) young men KIA and 10s of 1,000s of them WIA/maimed, living on streets, etc and about 3 million Vietnamese killed – for what?

    for war profit$

I can’t argue with anything you wrote

the last war(s) that America fought that I agree with would be wars against Rothschild; the Revolutionary War and the war of 1812.

I’m not an expert, and there may have been some other skirmishes or wars that were fought for honorable or at least understandable reasons, but I can’t think of any right now. Certainly not the world warsⓊ (And the “Civil” war was unnecessary, imho. Slavery was dying its ignoble death without the necessity of a war. Which didn’t even end slavery. What ended slavery was the moral outrage of the people for that evil institution. Not the war).

perhaps we’ve finally managed to get a president who will finally govern according to the will of the American people. I just wrote a post where I pointed out that the American people always vote for the anti-war president, and then always get betrayedⓊ.

  • “Russiagate” certainly seems to scare some people!

Now that is the best question I've come across in a long time. I look forward to hearing suggestions on how to address this. I have suggested that the death penalty, by firing squad, for public officials who betray the public trust and commit treason should be written into law and carried out.

A Neocon's wet dream is a conflict between Christian Russia and nominally Christian USA. As much as I didn't like Le Pen before I want her to win in France big and maybe force Merkel a little more to the right also, but we shall see.
As an aside I saw this Democrat senator, Coons, make some kind of passionate speech about the Supreme Court pick Gorsuch, I caught about a minute of it and it sounded like he was pro the nominee. But in the end party is stronger than principal and Coons fell behind 'Up-Chuck' Schumer and the likes of James Brown..err I mean Maxine Waters.

Your right of course, lol. She is nominally the head of the 'Christian Democrats' so I figured she could respect herself and her country and it's borders a little more if she has a neighbor with some more backbone (Le Pen) than the shill that's there now, 'Hollandaise sauce'.

The American Cuckservative censors all jooie baiting....many lively posters have been permanently banned by a certain religious fraud residing in a mosquito infested swamp somewhere in Louisiana. He is the editor and better than you...... as he ladles out slop to 300 pounders at his local food bank while contemplating something deep called the "benedict option". TAC puts up with some mild critique of the vile Saud goat herders, as long as enough long words are used to pass for intellectual stuff. No Izzy baiting allowed though. The irony is the TAC was started by Pat Buchanan...a favorite amongst jooies as he lost his uncle Fritz at Auschwitz...Fritz was drunk and fell out of the guard tower.

You made me laugh out loud, sir. What you wrote is a perfect summation of the situation at American Cuckservative. First, Taki got driven out and then Mr Unz ( he will surely write more on this sometime in the future.). No doubt, Pat Buchanan will be terminated when he crosses some cordon political shortly. And, of course, Neocons and Conservatism Inc members often mention Mr Buchanan’s ( remote ) German ancestry, as if it’s evidence of a crime.
I stopped reading it when Mr Unz went and Dreher was installed as website editor. He must be the most absurd cuck not only in America but the Universe. He’s like some smug do-gooder from a Dickens novel.

If they really are top-level as you say, then why on earth would you endorse the careless squandering of their young and precious lives on foolish, trumped up wars that are destroying America? Pat Tillman springs to mind just as one example.

    I've tangled with you before.

I don't like your characterization of the recruits into the US military as the "bottom level."

Some of us think that individuals who see opportunity for themselves in the service of their country as being in the "top level."

I don't know what you do over there in Australia, but I think that whatever it is, the country could get by just fine without you.

I don’t actually recall that tangle. Are you sure you do?

Why so prickly? If there is a top level in the army which might include all generals, staff colonels and a few others but “top level” adequately indicates the genus why shouldn’t “bottom level” be taken to indicate the merely fuzzily defined level of private soldiers and some others who will never rise far iñ rank or specialisation or qualify for the Rangers? Have you a better term? Of course prickliness, perhaps patriotic, could be the answer because some sort of mist before hour eyes seems to have prevented you construing what I actually said correctly. After all I can’t believe you don’t know how badly your country treats the people who would defend you and, per a common UR meme furthers the globalist interests of the 0.1 per cent. What becomes of them and their health when they ate discharged with or without immediately obvious health problems? And what are/have been the proportions of servicemen’s families receiving foodstamps? If you don’t know enough to be ashamed of your country’s treatment of them aren’t you ashamed of your ignorance and indifference.

If that sounds a bit aggressive perhaps it will give you pause before gratuitously saying something as rude but also as fatuous as you do in your last sentence. Do you think thete are more than about half a dozen people whose words you have read on UR whose countries couldn’t – at best – do very well without them?

Draft must be reinstated. Otherwise, the war profiteers and the "chosen" will continue their "democracy on the march" and other "humanitarian interventions"for the greater good (corporations' profit and Eretz Israel). The US army today is not much different from a mercenary army. The obvious slaughterous aggressions in the faraway lands have been easily presented as "defense of the fatherland" because of the mercenary character of the US army.
    https://undertheradar.military.com/2016/05/10-things-you-dont-know-about-mercenaries/

I agree. Although in the past conscription did not prevent ZUSA’s warmongering and aggression, I mean, we are speaking of a country that has been at war for over 90% of its existence, I think that in the present day the draft would have a huge impact on making zamericans pay a lot more attention to the wars that their regimes foist upon the world. Already the war in Vietnam proves this point. It’s not that ZUSA’s formerly largely conscript military was inferior to today’s volunteer contract forces. In fact, possibly the opposite may be true. No, it was the resistence of the people Stateside against having their sons sent to die in needless wars for Empire, that marked a prelude of things to come.
How to keep all those dirty imperialistic wars going? With a volunteer contract military, that is how. In the current scenario, wars affect directly only the military servicemen and their families, but that is a relatively small subset of zamerican society. The reality is that our human nature makes most of us care only about things which affect us directly.
So yes, reinstating the draft could certainly be part of a strategy to restrain the warmongering chickenhawks… and that is why it ain’t gonna happen.
