From The New Yorker: Our Columnists Trump’s Opponents Aren’t Arguing for “Open Borders”—But Maybe They Should By Masha Gessen June 22, 2018 ... During the weeks of controversy surrounding the policy of separating families at the border, the Trump Administration has succeeded in framing the debate as one between supporters of enforcing immigration law and...

  • To Bill Gates' credit, he periodically announces that some education reform fad boondoggle he has credulously financed has failed empirically. For example, in the 2000s he dropped a huge amount of money on "small learning communities," but then in 2009 came the news: And now, from Education Week: So good for Bill for hiring RAND...

How about really long schools days?

In many East Asian nations, children attend school from early in the morning through mid afternoon. Then they go to cram school for another few hours. They do this about 6 days per week. During the summer, they go to cram school.

I wonder how well this approach would work in the United States.

Badly, school and school cramming interferes with creativity and free thought. Which is where Americans have clobbered East Asia for centuries.

I guess if there were a lot more cougar attacks, over time the West Coasters would evolve to be faster runners, on the theory that you don't have to outrun the cougar, you just have to outrun whoever you're with.

At Harvard that includes a prominent sculpture of Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr., a former dean who led the charge to expel three black students in 1851 when white students protested their admission.

Which, of course, is vastly more important than helping to establish the manner in which Puerperal fever is spread (thereby saving the lives of countless pregnant women), coining the term "anaesthesia," and writing good poems and excellent essays......

You can make a genius out of your child. People have.

You can drill your child from birth to have a preternatural skill at something. True. Whether that translates into higher general intellectual productivity in adulthood is a different question.

The same people who believe in scientific racism believe in rabid foam-at-the-mouth bootstrap libertarianism.

Meh, not really. Some do, but becoming red-pilled on the latter often disabuses you of the former.

Much of SS Africa is a libertarian paradise but also poor and backwards. Freedom and markets are not sufficient for economic success. Brains and/or natural resources often trump a western-style market system.

Actually, there is tons of research indicating that nurture has little or no effect on intelligence..And from personal observation, drilling your kids to be x generally leads to a crackup and them opting for y…

Saker, your argument hinges on 2 premises:
    1. Russia is not ethically obliged to defend either Syria or Iran
    2. Putin is playing a very clever, complex, dangerous game "trying to trick not one, but many “devils”, all at the same time."

Re 1: the whole 'game' in Syria and the wider ME is not about noble obligations, it is all about power and influence. Russia has tried to portray itself as the new power broker, believing that defeating Daesh with the help of Iran, Hezbollah and the SAA was enough to attain that status. Russia seems to believe it can stay on the sidelines concerning the ZioNazi statelet's & the US's incessant provocations of Syria and Iran; Russia also stayed on the sidelines when the FUKUS trio bombed Syria over the fake chemical attack.

Unfortunately for Russia, that sideline position has only encouraged, and continues to encourage, the muderous, psychopathic war criminals in Washington and Jerusalem to ever more boldness because they see Russia's position as weakness. And that increasing boldness is risking a major unplanned confrontation that puts humanity in danger. So Russia DOES have an ethical obligation, if not to its 2 allies (which I do not agree with) then certainly to the world.

As for your 2nd premise, unless you have access to Putin's inner circle and are privy to his thinking, it is completely speculative, seemingly given in by an urge to defend Putin's inaction.

Incidentally, in 2011 Russia/Putin promised Assad those S300's, and basically reneged on that (signed?) promise to its ally? Ethically this is unacceptable, no matter how you spin it.

Yes, I disagree with the proposition that Russia doesn’t have to defend Iran, which borders Russia and has ethnic Russians. In fact, Putin cannot allow the Anglo-Zionists to control Iran, because that would threaten Russia in several ways. Putin would have to go all in to prevent a successful attack on Iran.

Enough with ‘the Brits brought it upon themselves’. We did no such thing. The Labour government under Tony Blair (much lauded in America by the neocons for dragging the U.K. into the disastrous Iraq war) decided to relax all border controls and allowed millions into the country. They did this ‘to rub the Right’s nose in diversity’ (quote from Jewish Home Secretary, Jack Straw) and, most importantly, hugely expand their voter base. The British public, at no point, were informed about this deliberate policy, nor consulted on it.

The Brits allowed the corrupt swindler Tony Blair to 1) take away their guns, 2) accelerate the importation of 3d world criminals, and 3) drag them into the disastrous Iraq war…And I don’t remember much complaining about any of it from the average ethnic Englishman.
Of course Blair didn’t “consult” the public, neither did the Tory government…The public was inert. Now it’s late in the day…If the average Englishman doesn’t start making a lot of noise and going after these treasonous officials, very soon, he won’t have a country…Britain is rapidly turning into an Islamic police State.

"The NBA had another downturn in the late 1990s-early 2000s when the generation of black kids who had grown up during the Crack Years got to the pros and couldn’t make free throws. "

These black kids also all grew up listening to NWA and Tupac, which certainly contributed to the thug life behavior, and their poor attitude regarding (NBA[white]) authority. Jewish sportswriters also absolutely loved Allen Iverson, which emboldened more players to act like goons.

"The 2004 Olympic Dream Team losing three games in the Olympics was particularly symbolic of how bad black American basketball had gotten after the glory days of the Jordan Era."

That was the most embarrassing Olympic team of any kind ever assembled for the USA, and don't forget that they lost to a bunch of mostly white European teams.

"But the NBA made some rule changes to make the game less violent..."

All it took was Latrell Spreewell nearly choking his coach to death in practice and Ron Artest (aka Meta-World Peace) starting a riot in the stands during a game. The fact that the NBA continued to let either of those two animals play in the NBA suggests they weren't entirely serious about eliminating violence.

"...imposed a dress code against gangsta clothes (players constructively responded by dressing like nerd Steve Urkel if he were rich and cool)..."

Blacks like to look good; all it took was a little white cultural appropriation for them to manage it.

"The quality of the game leapt upward and interesting new trends emerged."

Debatable - They started allowing zone defense, but the big interesting new trend is they pretty much stop penalizing traveling:

Anyway - NBA basketball is unwatchable anymore and has been for 20 years. I'll take baseball's slow grinding pace instead. It's better by every measure.

  • @Anon
I'm reading it. It's kind of a slog.

Part I is a rewrite of Stephen Jay Gould's Mismeasure of Man. Stephen Rose is quoted, without being identified as an old-guard Marxist fringie in any way.

Rose says that genetic and environmental influences are inextricably intertwined and any distinction meaningless, using the example of the disease PKU. This a a genetic disease, that renders you a retard. It can be controlled if diagnosed at birth and if the patient is only fed a special powder as his only food for his entire life.

To Rose, this shows that environment controls IQ. After all the environment of a lifetime powder diet makes you normal (this isn't actually true, but it improves your life). An environment of cheeseburgers and salads and fish and what not is just an arbitrary environment. Chemical powder food land is just as legitimate an environment. So who's to say you have a genetic problem. Maybe cheeseburger-world residents who cannot subsist on ballpoint pens are the one's who are defective. It's all relative.

This is an extreme overextension of the corn grows taller, Japanese are taller, and so on, environmental arguments. PKU is clearly a genetic defect. Beyond that, corn (and Japanese) grow best in good environments, but they don't grow to 30 feet in any environment. And different types of corn (and different groups of humans) have different heights in their ideal environments.

I'm sure that there are ideal envirnments for white and Asian and black IQ, but that doesn't mean the relative maximum IQs will be the same. And it's hard to believe that the environments differ that much at this point, in any way that would permanently affect IQ to such a large degree. Maybe Rose thinks there is some yet undiscovered powder diet, or hair pomade, or toenail cream that if used by blacks will equalize their IQs with whites if they use it their entire lives.

Part II of the book is like a high school science text. I'm plowing through it hoping that Part III is better.

I’m impressed. Reading the kind of mind deadening stupidity produced by the Jennifer Raffs of this world is more than I can take….

pyrrhus, yes, it is very true, the current development path of Sub-Saharan Africa is completely alarming. Some of these nations have essentially reached (or breached) psychometric critical
points in which complete socioeconomic collapse might be inevitable if innovative thinking is not tried. It is disturbing how entirely blissfully ignorant most of the developed world is about this unfolding tragedy (one of my recent comments on the Piffer's Equation thread also mentioned the idea of reaching a critical psychometric minimum). The present circumstances of Zimbabwe or Uganda clearly suggest that they might have reached such a minimum threshold.

At the same, I think that there is an enormous opportunity that exists in some of these very same
places. The technology is emerging that will allow for manipulation of the psychometrics of entire nations. Adding a standard deviation or two of IQ would have dramatic effects on the development potential of many African nations. I am waiting to see when the truly heavy duty money starts to make a move into some of these opportunities. The potential to step outside of the tiresome debates that have done little to improve lives of many of the world's most vulnerable people and actually help them will soon be too self-apparent to ignore. Of course there are quite a few people that would be all too happy to accept the recognition that would result from successfully coordinating
such a transformation. Given the extremely serious nature of the development challenges facing many nations of Sub-Saharan Africa, there should no longer be any doubt that a psychometric upgrade will occur there over the medium term.

The recent history of modern public-education reform in this country is very nearly a history of the determination on the part of white and East Asian parents that their children not attend schools with too many black and Hispanic students.

I thought it was well known that whites not only flee from school districts dominated by blacks and Hispanics, but also that they flee from highly competitive school districts dominated by East Asians? I don't think your grouping of Ice People versus Sun People is nearly as useful as you think it to be, given that not only are whites and East Asians at cultural loggerheads in this country, but blacks and Hispanics also often seem to be at one another's throats as well.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/26/nyregion/reforms-to-ease-students-stress-divide-a-new-jersey-school-district.html

It seems very clear to me that East Asian cultural values are unique and distinct from those of blacks, Hispanics, and whites alike today. This cultural and behavioral schism is of far greater importance in my opinion than the idea sometimes promoted here that wink, wink, nod, nod, blacks are the real outliers and if only Americans of white, Asian, and Hispanic backgrounds lived together in harmony, everything would be okay in this country. I tend to doubt such sanguine conclusions.

Right-wing whites are just as bad as blacks and Hispanics are when it comes to crappy cultural values, a point I tried to make earlier. Really, if someone like me doesn't try to talk some sense into my fellow Americans, I'm pretty sure the John Derbyshires and Ta-Nehisi Coates of the world would basically burn this country into the ground. I'd rather not have that happen, because I'm an American and I love America.

The key to understanding modern America is to forget about race and religion and look at IQ instead. In raw numbers, Jews are "over-represented" in the elites but if you adjust for IQ, they are just where you would expect them to be. Instead of "Jews" say "high IQ elites" - high IQ elites are disproportionately Jewish but not just Jewish - they are WASP and Asian too. And instead of blacks say "low IQ" and instead of "whites" say "middle IQ". Modern America is based on a high-low coalition against the middle. The elites provide the intellectual leadership and the low provide the voting masses (in exchange for goodies) and they squeeze the middle to pay for it all.

As you point out, blacks and Hispanics don't really compete with Jews for the same jobs (except perhaps inside the Democrat Party hierarchy) so the deal that you are proposing is a non-starter. The calculus that the elites made in 2016 was that the high-low coalition was numerically strong enough to rule and they were ALMOST right. But 2016 might have been a last gasp as the demographics only continue to move in their direction.

A total lie, based on bogus or misrepresented statistics. Ashkenazi Jews are no more intelligent than Northern Europeans or Northeast Asians, and their achievements demonstrate this fact. Other jews are less intelligent. What the Jews have is extreme ethnocentrism and no morals, hence nepotism, intimidation and bribery are routinely used to get what they want…

Fred, like I said before, when you're hot you're hot. One qualification -- "the last time we defended ourselves was in 1945."
The truth is there is no war -- not one -- the US had to fight -- certainly not WWI, and not WWII either. We provoked Japan into attacking Pearl Harbor as surely as we used the gulf of Tonkin to get into Nam.
But wether you agree with this or not, who can argue that WWII was a disaster for us. It caused the rise of the USSR -- much of it due to the technology and resources transferred to it (B-29, atomic bomb, others) and the the creation of the PRC. This was used to justify the maintenance of a huge standing military and, of course, the creation of the military industrial complex as we know it today.
But many intellectuals, for example Andrew bacevitch, are reluctant to acknowledge this.
Before WWII we had the 17th biggest military in the world and we were proud of it.

Sounds like a great book. Just ordered a copy. Thanks! Do you know how much of the data he uses for the analysis is publicly available?

    Thanks for this insight:

Another misunderstanding is the Nazi attitude to intelligence testing: in fact, the Nazis were opposed to intelligence research, which they saw as an instrument of “Jewry”. They specially opposed the concept of intelligence as a “one-dimensional dimension” and as “one common central factor”. They wanted measures of “realism” and “conscientiousness”, not what they regarded as “theoretical intelligence” and “intellectualism”. They favoured “practical intelligence”. In their view, general intelligence did not exist. Odd, isn’t it, that these views, a commonplace today among those who reject intelligence research, should be so similar to the Nazi position.

Cognitive dysfunction is a feature of multiple neuropsychiatric diseases, and many individuals with 1q21 deletion and duplication syndromes have developmental delay. Given this, the role of DUF1220 in cognitive function has been investigated. Results of this research demonstrate that DUF1220 copy number is linearly associated with increased cognitive function as measured by total IQ and mathematical aptitude scores, a finding identified in two independent populations.[13][19]. This association has important implications for understanding the interplay between cognitive function and autism phenotypes.[20] These findings also provide additional support for the involvement of DUF1220 in a genomic trade-off model involving the human brain: the same key genes that have been major contributors to the evolutionary expansion of the human brain and human cognitive capacity may also, in different combinations, underlie psychiatric disorders such as autism and schizophrenia. [14]

Has there been any followup on DUF1220 and IQ since then?
I see 8 papers citing Davis et al. (2014): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?linkname=pubmed_pubmed_citedin&from_uid=25287832
The only one which looks focused on intelligence is Chen et al. (2017): https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/28155865
but I did not see any mention of DUF1220 in the text when I did a quick search.

This was an interesting tidbit from Davis: "The interaction of CON2 × sex was significant (p = 0.038), suggesting a more pronounced effect in males." Doubly interesting since the NZ data indicates a greater effect on math ability.

As a commenter (and you) noted in your 2015 post, the effect sizes quoted seem ridiculous. They make a bit more sense when noting that the abstract and Table 1 both pull out males in the NA population which was already selected for brain size extremes. The R^2 for Total WISC IQ seen for that group was nuts: 0.13 or 0.22 depending on measure.

The NZ results seem more realistic (while still shockingly high, if true) with an R^2 for Total WISC IQ of 0.03 and for PAT math of 0.10 (AFAICT that was both males and females, why did they not break out by sex given the NA results?).

    a) detecting in a biological sample of cells from an individual a level of a CON2 subtype of DUF1220 biomarker selected from the group consisting of:
    i) a level of CON2 subtype DUF1220 domain;
    ii) a level of expression of CON2 subtype DUF1220 protein;
    b) comparing the level of the CON2 subtype DUF1220 biomarker in the biological sample of cells to a control level of the CON2 subtype DUF1220 biomarker selected from the group consisting of:
    i) a control level of the CON2 subtype DUF1220 biomarker that has been correlated with IQ less than 100; and
ii) a control level of the CON2 subtype DUF1220 biomarker that has been correlated with IQ greater than or equal to 140; and
    c) selecting the individual as being predicted to have low IQ, if the level of the DUF1220 biomarker in the individual's cell sample is statistically similar to or less than the control level of the DUF1220 biomarker that has been correlated with IQ less than 100, or d) selecting the individual as being predicted to have high IQ, if the level of the DUF1220 biomarker in the individual's cell sample is statistically similar to or greater than the control level of the DUF1220 biomarker that has been correlated with IQ greater than 140.

Dr. Thompson, any chance of a post on this January 2018 paper?: Genomic trade-offs: are autism and schizophrenia the steep price of the human brain?/i> https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29335774
    Full text at https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00439-017-1865-9
    Abstract:

Evolution often deals in genomic trade-offs: changes in the genome that are beneficial overall persist even though they also produce disease in a subset of individuals. Here, we explore the possibility that such trade-offs have occurred as part of the evolution of the human brain. Specifically, we provide support for the possibility that the same key genes that have been major contributors to the rapid evolutionary expansion of the human brain and its exceptional cognitive capacity also, in different combinations, are significant contributors to autism and schizophrenia. Furthermore, the model proposes that one of the primary genes behind this trade-off may not technically be "a gene" or "genes" but rather are the highly duplicated sequences that encode the Olduvai protein domain family (formerly called DUF1220). This is not an entirely new idea. Others have proposed that the same genes involved in schizophrenia were also critical to the rapid expansion of the human brain, a view that has been expressed as "the same 'genes' that drive us mad have made us human". What is new is that a "gene", or more precisely a protein domain family, has been found that may satisfy these requirements.

    Fascinating:

The most plausible explanation for this unusual distribution is that there is a sequence (or sequences) within the 1q21 CNVs, the dosage of which contributes to these two disorders in opposite ways: high-dosage producing autism while low-dosage producing schizophrenia. Such a shared genomic location for autism and schizophrenia has also been found for three other genomic regions where deletions are associated with one disorder, while duplications are associated with the other,13. These results suggest that autism and schizophrenia are related disorders and may have a shared underlying genomic etiology that involves opposite changes in the dosage of the same specific genes.

That corresponds nicely to a liability threshold model as well.

Figure 4 is an interesting look at the wide distribution of the different Olduvai (DUF1220) subtypes across Chromosome 1.

Great comment, and sounds like a great book! Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Dr. Thompson! I’ll buy a copy for myself and my kids…
On the policy end, however, I think there will be problems…With anything resembling eugenics being ruled out by the ruling classes, it’s tough to see what third world countries can do, because their main problems in this area are dysgenic breeding patterns and major amounts of Brain Drain with respect to their smartest people….With respect to the West, the failure of more intelligent women to have adequate numbers of children, and perhaps other factors, has resulted in steadily declining average IQs, about 1 point per generation according to recent estimates. (I think it’s higher than that.)
Given that mass education has clearly had no effect on these trends, I wonder what the author recommends?

First off, has anyone noticed that Taki isn't taking comments?

Now, for the meat of the matter:

Much of the class hatred in America stems from the suspicions of the intelligentsia that plumbers and mechanics are using their voodoo cognitive ability of staring at 3-D physical objects and somehow understanding why they are broken to overcharge them for repairs. Thus it’s only fair, America’s white-collar managers assume, that they export factory jobs to lower-paid China so that they can afford to throw manufactured junk away when it breaks and buy new junk rather than have to subject themselves to the humiliation of admitting to educationally inferior American repairmen that they don’t understand what is wrong with their own gizmos.

It’s important, especially in this forum, since you have mentioned former Secretary of State Colin Powell and the courage that you suggest he demonstrated. It is very important that you, instead of demonstrating a similar type of courage, you attack, attack, attack my British colleague. In this forum in particular, instead of demonstrating the type of courage that we would hope to have seen in the 21st century, the Russian Federation continues its tried and true tactics of denying responsibility, distracting and disinforming. Again, we stand with our colleagues in the United Kingdom, and we will, as our colleagues in the United Kingdom, hold Russia accountable for its illegal actions.

Vladimir Yermakov: We are grateful to the respected representative of the US Embassy for his remarks. It would be interesting to know what American lawyers would make of them. "And to throw out a really wild possibility, one might observe that no one in Britain had a stronger motive to generate a major confrontation with a well-defined enemy than Theresa May, who has been under fire by the media and pressured to resign by many in her own Conservative Party."

Really don't understand why Giraldi classifies this as "wild". Has he completely missed the numerous 'false flags' by UK initiated and financed 'White Helmets'? Every time UK/US intend to incite public outrage some 'chemical' incident was faked in Syria.

Look 'Rusiagate' Trump dossier has UK tail waggles US dog all over it. That Russiagate has been faltering increasingly over the last few months with recently the House Intelligence Committee declaring there is none. So some new impetus was required. Steele is too closely connected to MI5/6 to presume innocence on their behalf.

The hate of the UK establishment for Trump is only rivaled by its hate for Russia, so MI5/6 playing May (who only a few weeks before Salisbury out of the blue ratcheted up her anti Russia rhetoric) like a fiddle was provided with what she needed. However looks like given the number of exotic deaths concentrated in the UK some MI5/6 idiot now made the mistake of more than he can fake.

Indeed. Given the obvious fact that this was not a deadly military neurotoxin, or a lot of people would be dead, and May’s lies and deceit on the matter, it quite obviously was a false flag by the UK, possibly egged on by the US Deep State and/or Mossad. The UK will surely be the loser as a result, but likely Theresa May hopes it will extend her disastrous tenure in office…

The fight for genetical survival is ultimately zero-sum

Ehhh … we have a lot more people around today than in 10,000 BC.

Steve--and Spandrell responding to Steve--i think you're both (as moderns) missing the keyword "land" or "territory".

Sure genetic survival isn't strictly "zero-sum" when the means of production moves--as it has repeatedly--to push up the Malthusian limit. And the industrial revolution (and green revolution) really blew the roof off. We've seen huge genetic expansions for most groups on the planet, and it would actually be possible for that to continue--a little bit (maybe 2x)--for everyone.

But what is clearly zero-sum is land or territory in which to have your genetic survival.

I don't begrudge the Mexicans knocking up and pushing out another 40 million Mexicans. My problem is their invading my territory to do it. There is less of my territory that's now ethno-culturally *mine*, for my children and descendants to inhabit. Same with African blacks. I wish they wouldn't have a population explosion and wreck their continent--for the sake of the unique wildlife, the environment, and even themselves. But kept in Africa--their part of Africa--it's their problem. But by streaming into Europe they are destroying the territory of my people, my race being there for my race to survive into the future.

So yeah, Spandrell's right this thing is zero-sum. Not as life-for-life, but as territory upon which a people can survive.

What we're in the grip of is this evil engineered ideology of "diversity" which doesn't mean diversity at all but is a very thinly veiled hatred of white gentiles and their right to simply have their historic nations and exist as a people. It's a genocidal turf war. The opponents--winning--have the idea of taking the last pieces of European territory away from Europeans and seeing them perish as a race.

Exactly. That is why mass immigration is indistinguishable from war, as Martin van Creveldt has observed. And in war, the side that ends up controlling the territory won…

The governing-classes and ruling-elites of the UK and U.S. are both evil and insane, and so, too, those of Germany, France, Sweden, Canada, etc., but there are differences. In the UK, misogynistic and primitive subhuman Muslim degenerates, savages, and monsters are free to abduct, enslave, rape, gang-rape, "groom" for prostitution, torture, brutalize, terrorize, and even kill, in a few instances, English girls, mostly adolescents but even prepubertal girls as young as 10 and 11, in Telford for almost a half century. In Sweden they are free to commit 95% of rapes with little chance of serious punishment, much less mass deportations. In Germany they are free to assault, sexually and non-sexually, hundreds of women and girls with little chance of serious punishment, much less mass deportations. And there is no chance that the invasion of Muslims, and also black Africans, will be ended.

In the United States, teachers and other adult women who have sex with young men under age 16 or even 18 (and now in most states, if teachers, even 18-year-old students) are sentenced to months in jail or years in prison (even decades in some cases), years of "sex-offender treatment," years of quasi-totalitarian post-incarceration supervision, a lifetime or at least 20-30 years of public sex-offender registration, and (for Abigail Simon and many others) a life-sentence or at least 20-30 years of electronic parole-monitory with an ankle-tether/"bracelet" they cannot remove even when showering, bathing, or having sex.

Of the tiny fraction of Muslim males who have been and will be convicted of and sentenced for the aforementioned crimes and atrocities, I doubt that even one of them will be sentenced to 8-25 years in prison like Abigail Simon, much less a lifetime of draconian/Orwellian persecution. And scores of them combined, the tiny fraction who are actually punished, will serve less time in prison then the woman teacher in Georgia who was sentenced to 40-years in prison and the Nevada woman who was sentenced to life in prison for allegedly "forcing" a 13-year-old male to touch her breast. Yes, antithetical kinds of evil and lunacy.

    , @Cutler
I feel UKistan Is far from finished and the people ( Whites ) are waking up and beginning to take our own side and while it might take time I have full confidence in the British and European People in general to take back control of our nations, Surely it's when not if. Also a note on demographics which seem to have been overlooked is that while the UK is still majority White ( 87% as of 2011 ) the White birthrate has increased from a low of 69.5% in 2008 up to almost 76% in 2014-15 also European immigration has matched non European immigration or exceeded it these last few years. As Nationalist or Nationalist inspired parties are emerging all over the European world the future could well turn in our favour. Europeans are still the vast majority in all our countries and momentum is on our side
    , @SMK
Imagine if now and in the near future, before Muslims and blacks become the majority in Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, Islamic predators and savages who committed sex crimes against women and girls were punished as harshly as Abigail Simon, Kathryn Ronk, Mary Letourneau, Cassandra Sorenson-Grohall, the teacher in Georgia who was sentenced to 40-years in prison and the woman in Nevada who was sentenced to life in prison, and many others. If so, myriads of sex-crimes (abductions, rapes, gang-rapes, "grooming," etc., would be prevented and deterred and myriads of women and girls would no be assaulted and brutalized and terrorized.

In contrast, in the U.S., not a single person of any age and both sexes was or is or will be any safer because of the draconian and Orwellian penalties inflicted on women who have consensual sex with biological men under statutory age. Not one serious crimes has been or well be prevented or deterred by such draconian/Orwellian punishments imposed on first-offenders convicted of nonviolent and victimless and mala prohibita "crimes," women who've never committed a violent or malum in se crime in their lives and never will and are not a "threat to society" or to anyone nor a "danger" to "re-offend" by having sex with another young man under statutory age. It's possible that not one of these women has re-offended by having sex with a young man under statutory age or by committing a violent or other malum in se crimes while nearly all of the Muslims who've committed sex crimes against women and girls In Western Europe, and received indulgent sentences, will re-offend by committing more sexual and nonsexual crimes.

People don't like Jews because Jews don't practice the Golden Rule of treating others as they would like to be treated themselves. Instead they force goyim to live by certain rules that Jews themselves would never follow such as political correctness, immigration, assimilation, the list goes on and on.

Jews are power hungry. They have a winner take all view on life where you are on top or you are a lowly goyim.

Jews are very subversive taking part in clannish divide and conquer to get power.

Jews are perverts. They rule the porn industry and look at how they wield power in Hollywood raping all the time.

The problems are twofold: that most Jews have divided loyalties, of which the loyalty to Israel and their ethnicity generally reigns supreme.A man cannot serve two masters. Hence Israel can have 3 walls and reject any immigrants, but America can’t do the same; and second, that Jews do not have the same ethical standards regarding the goyim, whom they regard as chumps to be fleeced, as the goyim have toward them. A subset of that fact is that Jews are highly nepotistic toward their ethnicity, yet scream anti-semitism anytime they don’t get preferred treatment.
There are obviously a fair number of exceptions, but the overall effect is of a parasite gnawing its way through American society.

It says that people still struggle with concepts of "a lot" and "a little" in the current year. What matters in cousin marriage is the frequency. If you marry your first cousin, there could be genetic consequences for your kids. If your kids marry a first cousin, there will be genetic consequences for their kids.

That's the impact of the well documented efforts of the Catholic Church to put an end to cousin marriage starting in the 6th century. It certainly did not end the practice, but it sharply reduced it. If you want to understand what that means, think of modern Britain. Pakistanis make up 3% of the population and engage in lots of cousin marriage. They account for 30% of genetic defects in children.

A recent British study found that marriage between first cousins reduced IQ, on average, by almost 5 points…That’s a lot.

So what does this say about the claims by hbdchick and others that people were “outbreeding” significantly in the past?

Why you think that contradicts hbdchick?

4th cousins is definitely "outbreeding". That's one pair of shared great-great-great grandparents. It would be hard to much further outbred than that in more or less stable farming village with low mobility (spouse from your village or surrounding villages, where your ancestors also outbred to also). 4th cousins in that context basically means "random person from my patch".

After the industrial revolution, populations exploded along with mobility. So the genetic distance of "random person from my--now much larger--patch" went up.

Yes, according to 23andMe, 4th cousins will have, on average, about .5 % overlapping DNA, which is really insignificant…

  • @Ron Unz
Well, I thought Fred's column was pretty good, but I really can't agree with his overall theme or conclusion...

Frankly, I think virtually all evidence from everywhere in the U.S. indicates that blacks and non-blacks have a very hard time getting along, but that most of the various types of non-blacks get along either reasonably well or even extremely well.

Let's take my own state of California, which is extremely "diverse" given that whites aren't much above 35% of the population these days. Presumably, it should have all the horrible "diversity" problems Fred suggests, but I just don't see any of them, either state-wide or in my own area, where the white European population is probably closer to 30%. Maybe my eyesight is just bad or something.

Overall, California's really been doing pretty well the last few years, certainly better than almost all the other parts of the country. The economy is booming and there's a huge budget surplus, though obviously once the stock market finally crashes, I'm sure horrible deficits will reappear. My local big city is million-plus San Jose, and the homicide rate last year dropped by something like 35%.

Obviously, the state does have major problems, and many of these are indeed heavily immigration-related. For example, housing costs are totally ridiculous, worker wages are far too low, traffic everywhere is terrible, and the statewide water-shortage may be coming back, triggered by a renewed drought. But none of these serious problems seem to have any connection to the "diversity" issues Fred is discussing.

Admittedly, the very liberal state government does lots of stupid things. For example, since crime had greatly fallen over the last couple of decades, the state passed extreme "criminal justice reform," which effectively almost eliminated the prosecution of petty crimes. As a natural result, there's been a huge rise in petty crimes such as car break-ins and shoplifting in many cities, which everyone is now complaining about in the newspapers. Also, huge numbers of (white) drug addicts from other states have recently been lured to California by addiction-clinics seeking business, and this has greatly inflated the homeless/vagrant population in SF and Southern California. But again, these aren't "diversity" related problems.

Here's a data-point to consider. As everyone knows, Trump's campaign aimed at the "white backlash" vote, and his huge landslide among whites surprised all the pundits and gave him the White House. But in California, whites actually voted against him, with his white support being over 25(!) points lower than in rest of the country. I think if whites elsewhere in the country had voted similarly, Trump would have lost all 50 states and suffered the worst electoral defeat in U.S. history.

    http://www.sacbee.com/opinion/california-forum/article119870398.html

So if California whites were so agitated by the "extreme diversity" here, why did Trump's message fall completely flat?

As another data-point, here's an amusing Hannity segment in which a FoxNews film crew interviewed Californians about the new "sanctuary state" law protecting illegal immigrants and were horrified to discover that almost everyone they asked supported it:

    https://youtu.be/DmP0FDbGy8o

I'm sure that at least 95% of the commenters here will ferociously disagree with my views, and probably heap huge insults on me, but I still think I'm correct regardless.

As to the voting, Mr. Unz, the revelation of mass over-registration (of the ineligible) in all of CA’s largest counties (150% in LA county) should tell you that millions of HRC votes were fake and fraudulent.. I agree that in many parts of America people are doing their best to get along..But with illegals and non-Americans (including even citizens who refuse to support our traditional rights) constantly agitating for more welfare and preferences, all at the expense of native Americans and taxpayers in general, the country is heading toward fiscal and cultural oblivion.

    OT:

There's a Guardian op piece on James Thompson'a secret intelligence and Naziism conference written by an Angela Saini.

    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/jan/22/eugenics-racism-mainstream-science

Mankind Quarterly’s editor-in-chief, Gerhard Meisenberg, told me last month that there were likely to be biological differences in intelligence between racial groups, which he believes will eventually be discovered by genetics. He referred to “low-IQ countries”, including Pakistan. Meisenberg, a professor at the Ross University School of Medicine, based in Dominica, says: “The question of whether there are genetic ability differences between people in different countries is perhaps the most fundamental question in development economics.”

Views such as this, unsupported by evidence, generally receive little to no attention from within the everyday scientific community. What is worrying, though, is that people such as Meisenberg and Mankind Quarterly’s assistant editor, Richard Lynn, have managed to penetrate more mainstream scientific circles.

Lynn sits on the editorial advisory board of Personality and Individual Differences, produced by Elsevier – one of the world’s largest scientific publishers, whose titles include the highly respected journals the Lancet and Cell. Among his papers was The Intelligence of American Jews (2004), arguing that “Jews have a higher average level of verbal intelligence than non-Jewish whites”.

She's a Brit of Indian extraction with an engineering degree, active as a writer and television commentator. Her last book was on how men and women are blank slates and identical:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xz8bsX2rWt4

Basically, the problem is that male scientists are biased, so we need more female scientists, she says.

Her next book is hinted at the end of the Guardian piece:

Angela Saini is the author of Inferior, and is researching a book on science and race to be published in 2019

    More here on it:

    https://www.sciencefactory.co.uk/what-are-you

In What Are You?: The Mad Science of Race and Its Fatal Return the acclaimed science writer Angela Saini explores how science created the idea of race and fanned the flames of racism, as well as how modern genetics, medicine, psychology and anthropology are failing to destroy these old ideas and sometimes even perpetuating them. It is a sordid, ugly story, one of intellectual failure and abuse.

Showing how a catalogue of bad science has shaped all our lives, Saini argues that biological race is an idea that desperately needs to be shelved, both in science and in our everyday lives. Not just because it matters to how we live, but also because good science really does show that there is little to divide us biologically besides individual difference.

For a new generation obsessed by identity politics, this is an urgent reminder of a story that has been forgotten. It is an account that desperately needs to be re-told in a clear, accessible, personal way. Using firsthand interviews with race scientists on all sides of the divide, and those who are fighting to have race removed as a way of categorizing people in science, medicine and genetics, What Are You? reveals just what a scientific nonsense race really is, and yet how dangerous a concept it remains.

I predict that, if the book makes any waves at all in the U.S., it will backfire, as the Vox piece on Charles Murray kind of did, in that it's very hard to take down intelligence and race "pseudoscience" without stepping on the toes of a lot of researchers in adjacent, "legitimate" fields, and delegitimizing their basic tools. They will take offense and push back, and suddenly you find yourself in a dust-up with real scientists that you can't easily push into the pseudoscience category.

Angela Saini can’t be that stupid can she?….Oh wait, we have Nikki Haley…

Steve, how do you feel about the Air That I Breathe? Either the more popular Hollies version, which came out in '74, or the version by Albert Hammond of It Never Rains in Southern California fame, which came out in '72. I ask because it's basically the exact same song as Creep, besides the lyrics.

In fact, I believe Radiohead was successfully sued, and now Albert Hammond and some other guy share official writing credit with the band.

I was 10 years-old when Creep came out, and though I enjoy it, I like the Hollies' version better. I remember my mother listening to the Hollies as a kid, but that was more the Bus Stop era. I don't remember really being into the Air That I Breathe until my 20s.

Air That I Breathe is good stuff. As far as I recall, all my favorite songs came out between the ages of 18 and 28, so I must be out of synch. Or maybe it’s just that the decade between 1965 and 1975 had the best pop music in American history….

Do a NE coast demographic adjustment and you’d get Jewish overrepresentation like the Harvard student body or faculty.

No. This would require assumption of (1) much higher mean of IQ for Jews than any studies indicated and/or (2) postulation of non-Gaussian fat left tail distribution cover for Jews. No empirical evidence for (1) or (2). The degree of overrepresentation of Jews best can be explained by various form of networking encompassed by what might be called ethnic nepotism.

Nepotism and bribery both make a great contribution to Harvard’s hugely overweighted, but under-intelligent Jewish population…We’ll see if Harvard is ever required to respond to discovery in the lawsuits filed against it.

Its not surprising early Jewish immigrants were attracted to the South. Most slaves and small farmers were too uneducated to do business and large landowners believed business was beneath them. This provided Jews the opportunity to occupy the mercantile and baking niches.

The South was in many very similar to the German states where Jews filled a similar niche in population of peasants and aristocrats.

As usual, a mix of fantasy world with real world concerns.
    First a bit of fantasy:

Doing this would achieve the following goals:
Bring down a strong secular Arab state along with its political structure, armed forces and security services.
Create total chaos and horror in Syria
Breakup Syria along ethnic and religious lines.

With the joint Russian-Iranian military intervention, this plan completely collapsed.

    It did?

The single biggest problem for the Empire is that while it has plenty of firepower in the region (and worldwide), it cannot deploy any “boots on the ground”.

    2000?

…. the Kurds are a relatively competent ground force (albeit not one able to take on, say, Turkey…)

    We’ll see.

    Now, the obligatory Meme:

…. the Empire is run by stupid and ignorant people whose brain and education simply do not allow them to grasp even the basic dynamics in the region of four planet there are interfering with.

Back to the real world a bit:

Third, Russia has neither the desire nor the means to constantly deal with violent flare-ups in the Middle-East. If the Empire desperately needs wars to survive, Russia desperately needs peace.

    Flip back to fantasy world:

Heed my words: as soon as the Israelis and the Saudis realize that Uncle Sam can’t do much for them either, they will suddenly become much more open to meaningful negotiations.

Back to reality again, with the primary concern:

The Empire thrives only on chaos and violence. The Russian response is the exact opposite: to try as best can be to stop wars, defuse conflicts and create, if not peace, at least a situation of non-violence.

Well, the very same Ukraine has recently passed a law abolishing the “anti-terrorist operation” in the Donbass and declaring the Donbass “occupied territory”. Under Ukie law, Russia is now officially an “aggressor state”. This means that the Ukronazis have now basically rejected the Minsk Agreements and are in a quasi-open state of war with Russia. The chances of a full-scale Ukronazi attack on the Donbass are now even higher then before, especially before or during the soccer World Cup in Moscow this summer (remember Saakashvili?).
The Novorussians understand that. May God help them.

You seem to have jumped into a time machine and gone back to when the US could deploy hundreds of thousands of troops, at a cost of trillions, to do Israel’s work…Not any more…

It will be interesting to see if the Repubs don't fold over immigration. Recent surveys of blacks show that over 85% are against the Dems on immigration. Furthermore, the true crime statistics of illegal immigration must be forced onto the main stream media.

What most of the Dems don't understand is that Trump as crazy as he is on some things can operate in chaos. He is used to it. I know people who have worked for Trump and still do; he is a chaotic micromanager. The Dems can't operate in this chaos and it's driving them insane.

    Fred--great article as usual. However:

"I once spent a week in the slums of Cite Soleil, in Port au Prince with the US Army. It was godawful. Huts of corrugated iron, “streets” of packed dirt, actually paths maybe two feet wide between them, no sewerage, no electricity. No medical care or, so I was told, education. The impression was of an occupied garbage dump...There were no guns, so the denizens went at each other with machetes, leading to missing limbs and exposed brains. Law enforcement did not exist...."

Personal experience this old is not often enough relevant to today's conditions to be worth mentioning. For every such "third world" place that was a dump 30-40years ago and still is today, there is another that is miraculously transformed. During my US Navy time back in the 70s, I saw a lot of coastal Asia, and the standard of living often shocked me, a kid who grew up in middle-class suburban Chicago. Revisiting some of these cities today is equally shocking, but for a different reason--the transformation over the intervening years has been nothing short of amazing.
