One of the odder developments of the Obama Age was the severe case of Islamophilia that broke out among Jewish liberals. From commenter Jay Fink: Commenter Tyrion replies: I know plenty like that. They are constantly posting on the topic ever since Merkel’s madness. They even go so far as to lionise the dreams of...
  • Jews look at Moorish Spain as their ‘golden age’ there is also a believe among the orthodox that for the ‘real’ messiah to come the kingdom of the ‘false’ messiah must be wiped out. This is why Jews supported Ottomans against Europe in the 14-17th centuries. Could be the same here, they seem muslims as finally ‘ending’ European/Christian ‘anti-semitism’.

  • From MSN, an account of the mounting pressure to tear down memorials to the notorious Confederate generals Christopher Columbus and Ulysses S. Grant: A Whole New World: Columbus Statue Could Be Considered for Removal Daniella Silva 46 mins ago As the violence in Charlottesville has reignited a national debate over monuments dedicated to Confederate-era and...
  • I will be humored when South African blacks request the removal of Ghandi’s statue in Union Square – he thought blacks were inferior when he was in south africa and never supported equal rights for them.

  • The big push in England against anybody mentioning that the pimps raping underage English girls tend to be Pakistani Muslims was led by rising star MP from West Bradford Naz Shah. From The Guardian: From the Daily Mail, as excerpted by commenter Lot, who asks, "She really makes the case for more Pakistani immigrants, doesn’t...
  • @Alvaro Beauchamp
As it happens, just today a Guardian writer is demanding to bring down Nelson.
    https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/aug/22/toppling-statues-nelsons-column-should-be-next-slavery

    shocking.

  • From The Guardian: Sarah Champion resigns as shadow equalities minister Labour MP wrote controversial article in the Sun saying ‘Britain has a problem with British Pakistani men raping white girls’ ... Jessica Elgot Political reporter Wednesday 16 August 2017 11.28 EDT Sarah Champion has resigned as shadow equalities minister after a controversial article published in...
  • Thirty years ago, if I read a dystopian novel where this was happening , I would have laughed it off as ridiculous hyperbole.
I shutter to think what another thirty years will bring.

I heard the Pakis tried to do this to some Sikh girls too…. but the Sikh men paid them a visit…and it never happened again. The police looked the other way because it was brown on brown, however English fathers who tried to stop this were threatened with arrest.

    • Replies: @helena
There is an organisation called PAGAL http://pagal.org.uk/ which started addressing the problem in Pakistani communities but has extended to include all grooming.

Sorry, what I was going to reply is that the UK Sikh community say they have suffered many similar grooming attacks but the problem is not disclosed because of the severe problem of shame in the community.

I think the crime committed is 'other than muslim' girls are fair game. At the moment the UK is debating at what age muslim girls should wear a scarf because increasingly primary school girls are wearing them. Instead of linking this behaviour with outgroup behaviour (ie towards non-muslim girls), the media are using a, 'scarves on young children sexualises them' narrative.
  • From the New York Times: In 2017, the rich get not only richer but holier.
  • These philanthropists seem to look with contempt on projects whose goal might be to preserve beauty.

There is an ideological reasons for that:

1 Communists famously said that Raphael had to be destroyed for communism to flourish

2 A few weeks ago steve posted something about a harretz journalist bemoaning swiss culture because it was, well, swiss. He literally said their rustic traditional architecture was a barrier to being multicultural- and germany was better because they had universalist architecture.
    3
the past has to be destroyed and memory wiped out to create our multiculti paradise.

  • Prediction: The next industry to get on the social justice/CEOs-Are-Moral bandwagon will be … real estate developers… all those racist civil war battlefields from 70 BK (before Martin Luther King) that only racist dying white males are interested in. Who else but a racist would be interested in preserving them, after all they are breeding grounds for white nationalists.

Civil war graveyards as well… especially confederate ones.. We can plow over the past and build high density housing for vibrant immigrants that are erasing hate.

  • From WBUR: Uh-oh, I see a chink in the wooden box that could let the Evil Spirits out. Putting this POW grave marker in a wooden box is a start. But is mere wood strong enough to hold in its Evil Spirit emanations? Think of the children of Boston and even, indeed, New England being...
  • Monument or memorial? Funny the left /globalist and alleged smart folks in MSM can’t distinguish between that anymore.

  • One interesting aspect of the current berserkness is how much of it seems to be motivated by fear of Evil Spirits. People and even objects can embody malevolent forces that project their malign power across space and time. For example, to lessen the urges African-Americans in Madison, WI feel to murder each other, the Madison...
  • @Dumbo
Nazi flags, Confederate flags... They've been thoroughly defeated, but that's not enough, they need to be erased from History too. We are truly living in 1984.

P.S. Flags are evil, but, Muslims bombing or running with cars over women and children is just "something we must get used to".

Flags are evil, but, Muslims bombing or running with cars over women and children is just “something we must get used to”.

white racist symbols cause muslims to be bomby,/runny/ stabby if we could just get rid of all racism, homophobia and islamaphobia paradise would ensue.

Yes, leftists/ globalists are really this stupid.

  • wonder then the statue of evil racist Gandhi is going to go down in Union Square…

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2003/oct/17/southafrica.india

But critics have attacked the gesture for overlooking racist statements attributed to Gandhi, which suggest he viewed black people as lazy savages who were barely human.

Modern day “libertarians” often come off as nothing but Cultural Marxists.

It’s really a stealth globalist /left wing movement. 99% of the time they support ‘libertarian’ ideas like open borders, gay marriage, and other ‘freedom’ but, strangely, never ending affirmative action (or just lip service) or lunch counter laws. So if you’re only ‘liberating’ the left’s concerns you’re actually making the right weaker. the same way ethnic groups push identity weakening policies on whites, but ask for ethnic solidarity among their in-group.

Thus many jews supported Ottoman invasions of Christian Europe even when they lived in said countries.

It seems to me the Jewish left has secularized and deeply internalized this belief.

to many of our elite that’s actually a plus -globalists definitely see Christianity as something to be eradicated.

There have been multiple discussions here about Jewish motivation for this – why would they support something that seemingly is bringing about their own demise.

First I don’t think the elites will feel it – or the Jewish intellectuals – and like the effects of Zionism on Jews in Muslim countries in 1948, they probably just don’t care or see it as a plus

but there is another important, overlooked aspect – Jews have always seem the ottomon/muslim overuns of Europe as fulfilling prophecies of medieval rabbis who thought that for the true messiah to come, the kingdoms of the ‘false’ messiah (eg Christian) first had to be eradicated.

Modern secular jews probably don’t believe this but it might be internalized in their psyche -for multiculti paradise to come, white christians must go.

  • @ben tillman
A test of the sort you took can only confirm a claim of Indian (or other) ancestry. It cannot disprove one.

Over time, the contribution of DNA to you from any one ancestor may drop to zero. If we ignore the (small) effect of meiotic drive, the first mixed generation will have received just 50% of its DNA from the Indian ancestor.

Six generations later (with no further Indian admixture) that figure would be down to 0.8%, before we account for the small effect of meiotic drive and the potentially large effect of differential fitness influence.

If, on balance, the Indian genetic contribution to your ancestral line was selected against, and the Indian's descendants with more Indian DNA had less reproductive success than those with less Indian DNA, the Indian ancestor's genetic contribution to his descendants would be eliminated at a faster rate.

Your mom's story lacks internal coherence. Southern belles came of the tidewater plantations, of English provenance (not for nothing is the University of Virginia's mascot the cavalier...). These families staked out the fertile, productive, and (by the time civilian settlement began in earnest) relatively safe tidewater for their plantations and lived in related cities (Charleston, Savannah, etc.).

The Scots-Irish generally arrived a little later and got the same welcome they had from the English for not being Anglican and from the Irish for not being Catholic: "Get on up to thr piedmont and the mountains where the lands are less productive and the Indians keep killing people; we're full up around here."

These were the people who continued most of the fighting with Indians in Appalachia, its foothills, the Cumberland Plateau, etc. (until finally one of them, Jackson, pretty much fed up with the problems and having fairly decisively defeated them militarily, decided to relocate them en masse for their own good and Americans'). It was the proximity and interaction in those parts and times that led to occassional interbreeding. Even then, though, it was much rarer than is now popularly imagined, as everyone here notes.

(Maybe your mom or you use the term "southern belle" a bit more loosely to simply mean she was a southern woman and not precisely from old money.)

no incoherence. we’re descended from first families of Virginia and scots irish dirt farmers. I had a two direct descendants fight in the Civil war. one was one of General Lee’s field aides and another was a dirt farmer private.

    Good comment.

More evidence in support of his thesis:

    - Indian-named U.S. military equipment, such as Apache and Chinook helicopters, and Tomahawk cruise missiles.

    - Indian-era military terms, such as Kit Carson scouts in Vietnam.

    - Indian sports team names.

    - Rambo being half-Indian.

    - The whole western movie genre.

    - Indians and quasi-Indians in other genres, like the Martians in the Martian Chronicles, space Indians in Star Trek TNG, etc.

    – Indian-named U.S. military equipment, such as Apache and Chinook helicopters, and Tomahawk cruise missiles.

I wonder when the US army is going to be accused of cultural appropriation – like our sports teams have.

A footnote to the excellent post: one reason (clearly not the only) for the Indian success against the white man from 1784 through Custer's slaughter was our old friend, the Second Amendment. A whole batch of westerns were made ("Man from Laramie" probably the best) that villified the "gun runner" who sold Winchesters to the braves. Well, yes, maybe, but on the other hand the braves were frequently better armed than the cavalrymen with repeaters; then as now, firepower rules. All the mythic resonance of the brave and the society that spawned him is directly related to the fact that, unlike the African braves, he had maximum guns, and we did not. The wonderful heritage of the red dog soldier is one benefit to 2A that liberals should love.
Finally, it's got to happen sooner or later, but I keep waiting for a revisionist "pro gun-runner" western to arrive to hosannas from the elite press.

. A whole batch of westerns were made (“Man from Laramie” probably the best) that villified the “gun runner” who sold Winchesters to the braves

THAT tradition was started by our friends the Canadian British who intentionally sold them AFTER the revolution… one of the reasons for the war of 1812

Well I did a 23andme – 98. north european, 100 european…I long suspected my mother’s story was BS with her I think it was her ‘conversion’ from being a southern belle to being a 60s liberal. She had to find some way to not be a southern belle. the story she told – so and so married an indian princess… is pretty common among southern women to the point of being googable….

My mother greatly enjoyed claiming oppositional ethnicities. (Oppositional to NYC's Ellis Island schmaltz-ocracy anyway.)

I"m reasonably confident that her claiming of lace-curtain pre-Ellis Island Irish ancestry (Yay IRA, boo National Review and Margaret Thatcher) and descent from William Henry Harrison's family are accurate, since they're based on records which exist and can actually be checked. (Although I haven't checked.)

But that wasn't enough. The Harrison ancestor, who converted to Catholicism, had to have married a Delaware Indian girl to account for the family shutting him out. And the 15 year old boy who ran away from New York to fight in the Civil War simply MUST have fought for the South, since the family records that he died in the "Battle of the Wilderness", the Southern name for the battle. (The Civil War pistol in the family safe deposit box does seem to be a CSA Navy sidearm.)

So depending on the time of year, she (and therefore I) might be part-Indian, have Confederate ancestry, commiserate with American blacks about immigration, and have PResidential ancestry.

Writing this down, it occurs to me that given her standards of evidence, the connection to President William Henry Harrison may be equally tenuous.

EDIT: We also claimed WASP when negotiating with a Jewish real estate developer who wanted to buy our house, offering an even swap for "a place in a nice Italian neighborhood."

It would be interesting to find out how much of the genetic composition of the population of French Canada (including Quebec and the western part of New Brunswick) is indigenous North American. It is my understanding that there was no small degree of intermarriage between French settlers in Canada and the native population--particularly in the 17th and 18th centuries. My wife's ancestors on her mother's side settled in Canada during the French-Indian War and according to family lore it was believed (though never substantiated) that at least some of her ancestors married natives. A 23andme might provide the answer (though I have heard that their results are of questionable accuracy).

Brooks shamelessly takes his talking points from a lobby group, the National Association of Home Builders, citing 200,000 openings in a country while 90+ million working age adults are not in the labor force. Apparently such Home Builder employment datum analogized into a flowing river are how so-called smart people like Brooks explain complex issues like immigration and employment.

That Brooks offered no evidence as to home builders actually paying higher wages didn't escape this reader.

But the give-away was obvious when Brooks offered and dismissed the "unconscious supposition that American society is like a lake, with a relatively fixed boundary." Whether conscious or unconscious, it was an endorsement of open borders as a fixed assumption of American society.

Brooks shamelessly takes his talking points from a lobby group, the National Association of Home Builders,

The same people who browbeat us about being ‘ignorant’ about global warming want to keep driving the economy by suburbanizing farmland and growing the population…

I honestly don’t think people like brooks have any rationale about immigration beyond simply wanting to make white gentiles a minority in the US and Europe. Its extraordinary that they have made it taboo (YOU are an ‘anti-semite’ for pointing this out) to even talk about it.

Obviously not all jews are this way – it seems to be super concentrated in the global elite but we can’t even seem to publicly acknowledge the existence of a common theme in so many jewish pundits and globalists.

It is higher in among globlist gentiles too but I know of no globalist gentiles who have the added hypocrisy of NOT advocating it for their own sub group

Actually, Dalton has weirdly taken Diversity to heart in the most extreme possible way. They've instituted severe admission quotas to make the school look like America...or I guess New York, if by New York you mean the South Bronx. From the WSJ in 2011:

Assembling diverse classes is an oft-stated goal among New York City private schools, with brochures featuring beaming multicultural students.

But this September Dalton will approach a rare benchmark: Nearly half of the incoming kindergarten class will be students of color.

Dalton will dramatically exceed the citywide average for kindergarten diversity at New York's private schools, which was 30% students of color last year, according to data from the National Association of Independent Schools.

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424053111903918104576500653887399330

When they first publicized this--and they publicized it a lot--I remember realizing what the actual effect would be: if you were a legacy or otherwise somehow plugged-in, you could still go to Dalton, but otherwise you couldn't unless you were Dominican or whatever. So again we get the virtue-signaling move toward class immobility through religious purity.

I live on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and my wife and I both know tons of people who went to expensive NYC private schools. When Dalton's queasiness about Wollman Rink's Trumpiness surfaced the other day, we tried to think of one nice person we know who went to that school--but that turned out to be a bridge too far. Maybe Diversity will fix that.

My guess is half those ‘diverse’ students will be wealthy orientals or indians.
I would like that they had some real life south bronx diversity.. they’d be out of business fairly quickly.

Today I was in Brooklyn and several stores had “We stand with opposing Islamaphobia’ signs – I can’t even walk into a store and buy a pair of underwear without some virtue signaling message…

It struck me that white liberals are the most shallow, vain and nasty people i have ever met. Their chief concern is showing they are of a certain caste, even at the cost of supporting policies that utterly destroy the nation. To the point of supporting muslim calls to prayer in times square and becoming hysterical because Melenia Trump said the Lord’s Prayer…

I think white liberals need a good dose of Islam, then we’ll see how many want to put up “Stop Islamaphobia’ signs…

Surprised no one's mentioned that a/c/t Tom Wolfe in The Right Stuff, as far back as Kennedy there had been pressure to get a black astronaut 'up there' - Kennedy sent civil rights lawyers from the Justice Department to the Aerospace Research Pilot School to pressure them into picking Ed Dwight for one of the 11 NASA slots, which would go to the top 11 pilots. ARPS was run by Chuck Yeager, who refused to fiddle the rankings (Dwight was #14 out of 26 trainees), and the compromise reached was that the top 14 rather than top 11 would go to NASA. (Dwight never went into space, and became a sculptor)

There's a lot of "respectable" support for these black bloc types (probably mostly from older liberals), and that has to be addressed to stop them. If I may be permitted to add a personal note here, I would just like to say that I am no fan of Milo Yiannopoulos, and I'm sick and tired of Breitbart treating every incident of this man's histrionic life as if it were BREAKING NEWS! Day after day Breitbart subjects its readers to a barrage of headlines like "Milo banned from Twitter," "Milo barred from here," Milo heckled there," etc., all in 24-point blinking lavender font. What is the point of all this? Is this supposed to be the new face of "conservative" journalism---the gonzo escapades of a gay drama queen?

I find Milo to be needlessly provocative and often wrong in what he writes and says. I don't visit Breitbart nearly as much as I once did, and Milo is not the only reason. I also find their relentlessly pro-Israel stance rather disappointing, but Milo in particular is not the face of any Alt-Right movement I care to be associated with, and I'm not surprised that his flamboyant rallies ended up setting off some violence.

Milo humiliates the left, and makes them seem like dour faced killjoys. He is entertaining to watch and he destroys SJW who call him ‘raccissts’. Some SJW are even saying he can’t be gay because of his views (much like Peter Theil was declared to be ‘a straight white male’ by the advocate because of his support for Trump.

  • @Svigor

I’m pretty sure Steve has written before about the tendency of, say, a 70 IQ white person to be much more seriously disabled than a 70 IQ black person. I’d guess it’s because a 70 IQ kid from two 100 IQ parents probably has a physical deformity in his brain, where an equally intelligent kid from two 82 IQ parents is just on the low end of normal.

I think Rushton's was the first I writing I read about this. In any case, the simplest way to explain this is that the IQ bell curves for the two races are a bit more than 1 standard deviation apart; i.e., if you draw a border around the part of the White bell curve that contains most of the retards, and then find the corresponding part of the Black bell curve, I'd expect it to contain most of the Black retards. Whites with IQs of 70 and Blacks with IQs of 70 are not in corresponding parts of their respective bell curves.

The viral video of a beating and knife attack in Chicago suggests the beating had racial overtones. CBS’s Dean Reynolds tells us the victim is described as a mentally challenged teenager.

In the video he is choked and repeatedly called the N-word. His clothes are slashed and he is terrorized with a knife. His alleged captors repeatedly reference Donald Trump. Police are holding four people in connection

Were it not for her aggressive public relations campaign playing the race card, Copeland would have never been promoted to principal dancer, which is the highest ranking. (The corps is the lowest ranking in ballet besides apprentices.) She is most certainly not a prima ballerina, as that is a very rare title given to the absolute best of a generation. Copeland is or was a good enough dancer for the soloist or, very generously, First Soloist ranking, but not good enough for principal, especially not at a top-tier ballet company like the ABT. Her fame and accolades in the media benefit from the general public not being able to distinguish between adequate and virtuosic ballet technique and expression. I suppose you could argue that most of her fans wouldn't know the difference, but it is fraudulent and corrupt for the company to promote her to audiences as a principal-level dancer.

Every conceivable meritocracy, degrades over time into an aristocracy. It just has to happen that way.

I dunno. This elides a couple of big points.

The first is that there's often a lot of overlap between aristocracy and meritocracy, for obvious reasons. The FT profiled some Italian nobleman/businessman last week whose family was a banking dynasty 700 years ago. The current generation seems pretty competent.

The second is that the problem with the current Harvard set isn't that it's aristocratic, but that it is globalist. Maybe Conant didn't anticipate that. The Italian nobleman started a venture to help his fellow Italians, a program to reduce recidivism of convicts by letting them work in a vineyard.

Contrast that with Italian American billionaire Chris Sacca, who doesn't tip his Uber drivers, and focuses his charity on digging wells for African villagers.

” current Harvard set isn’t that it’s aristocratic, but that it is globalist.”

funny you should say that i was just at the harvard club (nyc) yesterday.. it was 60% chinese/indian- and it reeked of corruption and ….sleeze…

Quite a few gold digging white women with older chinese and indian guys on what were obvious first ‘meetings’ I don’t know if i would call them escort services, but ‘date’ didn’t seem like a proper term either…

Saddest part, eves dropped on a conversation where one young, pretty good looking white woman was saying marriage is an outdated institution, kids are a nuisance that get in the way of career and bring undo stress and health problems.

How did we get to this?

    Is your wonderment genuine?

In Dostoevsky's Karamàzov, Christ and the Grand Inquisitor meet. The Inquisitor knows Christ's dream is to liberate people and make them completely free, thus he explains to Christ what would be of them, the day they'd be completely free.

As we all may have intuited on our own, the higher the IQ of a woman is, the less her biologic inclination to have offspring.
What that Harvard female said during an Harvard club meeting has me worried infinitely less than what we see on the most popular recreational websites, from Reddit to GirlsAskGuys to tumblr.

Saying you desire to have children is becoming a taboo, as much as saying you are Christian.
If you socio-program women to believe it their duty to follow the trail of men and be like men, you get very different an outcome than socio-programming women to believe it their duty to give birth to children and care for the familial nest.

The ideal solution would be not to socio-program women in one direction of its obverse.
They'd split into groups, and many would desire to have their offspring.
But that's not to be hoped for. Ideologies are shaken off only when a new one takes their place.
Not even a little bracket of freedom gets between an ideological phase and the next one.

The place may have sunk to the point that the best Harvard graduates join a club that doesn't come automatically with graduation. I am assuming the older Chinese and Indian guys were the Harvard grads, the younger white girls not associated with Harvard. But saying "I'll take you to the Harvard Club" is probably a good way to get a date on Tinder or other online dating method.

But if the girl doesn't want kids, is she just in it for a one night stand? I would expect Chinese and Indian men want kids, unless they have families at home and this is just a little extra on the side.

What? Not a single link to my work? I am wounded.

"One of my concerns over the last decade is that the high end testing systems in the U.S. are falling apart under the onslaught of millions of Tiger Mothers and their progeny."

I completely share your concern except at the high end, I believe it's already fallen apart. At this point, a competitive test system would have to be completely reworked not only to prevent cheating, but to prevent the sort of systematic gaming that allows Asians to get scores that completely misrepresent their abilities.

I have long wondered if, at a certain point, the link between test scores and IQs break down for both blacks and Asians (particularly East Asians). I can't be sure about the new SAT yet, but the last one I no longer accepted the high abilities of any Asian kid I met with triple 800s. I knew too many who had unimpressive abilities--not low, just not top tier. I know more than one African American with a 16 ACT reading score, a 12 on the essay, and a 4 or a 5 on an AP test in English or history. The black kid with that combination is going to get identified, even if it's not a perfect system, but Asian test obsession is breaking the system.

Leave aside the cheating for a minute. Assume, as I do, that some of the high scores is done by the ability to get a good score on the test without the underlying knowledge. This ability exists in whites (and probably to a degree in blacks and Hispanics, too). I have it. Give me a test on nuclear physics with any context clues at all, and I'll get a much better score than I should, given my underlying non-existent knowledge of nuclear physics. But in whites, this ability goes along with very high intelligence. A person of averagely high IQ (say, 110-125) doesn't usually have this ability.

But at least in my experience, I see the ability to get a high test score (often with a lot of practice taking tests), to understand the cues and responses to a lot of new material without any retention, without any understanding of the underlying content, is incredibly common in East Asians.

Our test system just isn't set up for that. So when Charles Murray calls for a pure test system, I don't think he knows what that means. Tom Loveless once argued that states should put out a huge database of all the test questions asked by the state tests, because even if the teachers taught the tests directly, only the strong students would remember how to do it and how to answer it. I'm like, are you completely high? And both Tom Loveless and Murray are awesome.

Anyway. I first wrote about the gaming directly here: https://educationrealist.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/sats-competitive-advantage/

But I also wrote about the unnaturally high scores and the constant increases in Asian score percentiles here:
    https://educationrealist.wordpress.com/2013/09/01/college-admissions-race-and-unintended-consequences/

And I think you linked in my take on the Reuters piece, but here it is again for those who missed it:
    https://educationrealist.wordpress.com/2016/03/29/the-sat-is-corrupt-reuters-version/

understand the cues and responses to a lot of new material without any retention, without any understanding of the underlying content, is incredibly common in East Asians.

this has been my observation too – which also accounts for the lack of creativity.. or more disturbing, they really don’t internalize ethics….i believe there is something incredibly soulless about them to the of being inhuman.

The problem with this hypothesis is that it presupposes that five- and six- and 10-year-old Blacks are using PEDs. Sure, Blacks mature faster than Whites, but not enough to explain the vast differences in sprinting ability observable among children.

South Korea, which I understand is peopled by non-whites, is a major powerhouse in fencing. It had 6 medals in fencing at the 2012 London Olympics. Only Italy had one more medal than South Korea: https://www.olympic.org/london-2012/fencing

Indeed, of the 10 events in fencing with 30 medals, 10 were awarded to East Asians (6 to Korea, 3 to China, and 1 to Japan). The rest were awarded to various European countries, except one silver medal to Egypt and one gold medal to Venezuela).

Are you suggesting Nathan Adrian got the anchor position at the 4 x 100 freestyle because he's half-Asian?

    I hope not, because:

    1) Being half-white, half-Asian doesn't count much in the diversity points game - many people don't even notice that the "Hapas" are even partly non-white. A lot of them blend in as slightly exotic-looking whites.

    2) Nathan Adrian has won 4 gold medals at the Olympics and currently holds the American record in the 50 m freestyle. He has won 24 medals in major international competitions. But for Michael Phelps, he'd be getting the attention as one of the greatest American swimmers ever. The idea that he benefited from some sort of athletic affirmative action is ridiculous.
