A life well lived. It's reasonable to say that Tom Wolfe succeeded in cutting a figure in American life comparable to another white-suited, big-spending writer, Mark Twain. Indeed, I'd argue that Wolfe was near his peak for longer than Twain and on a wider variety of subjects (Twain was the master of writing about being...

I live and work in Miami and recognized almost nothing from "Blood". It was disappointing. Even the portrayals of Hialeah were not realistic.

    @Need a better handle
The ancient Greek represenation of the genitalia were symbolic and the Golden Mean with regard to behavior. Civilized men ie. Greeks, had modest features to reflect their self control over their desire, think Apollo, god of knowledge, whereas the Satyrs, and the other hedonistic Dionysian barbarians had the "goods" so to speak because of their lack of self control.

So you are saying that Greek sculptures are symbolic and do not represent actual people? But they got right every other organ of the human body, like fingers, hands, eyes, buttocks, girls are very lifelike, etc. They had a psychological complex only with male genitals and had inhibitions and could take a good look at them? Strange.

As with the early Aryans of India, the small penis was considered the ideal and big ones vulgar and uncouth. This appears in the Kama Sutra if memory serves.

It's interesting to note that in sub-Saharan Africa, some tribes have men with substantially larger than "normal" ones, some don't. But both Dominicans and Haitians are famously bejingled, even though one is a mulatto group with a whiter than average overclass (who are just as huge on average-the famous Porfirio Rubirosa was, if bigger than average, still not particularly noteworthy for size amongst fellow Dominicans, and he was probably much whiter than the average Dominican) and the other is almost pure Congoid.

Today, while it might not be considered an ideal or even desirable, the one nation with men who are on average on the smaller side, is Japan. Japanese condoms are actually made to a smaller standard size-the machines use a mandrel that is thinner than used anywhere else. Japan is probably the racially purest nation left on the planet as well. So maybe the Greeks and ancient Indians found that the best specimens of men in terms of other qualities besides sexual attraction or performance (and after all, what the women thought was of no import!) tended to be more modestly endowed, and purer, and that's why it became an ideal.

… which proves that Ancient Greeks were utterly unlike Haitians, Dominicans, Congoids and monstrous Porfirio Rubirosa.

  • A more interesting issue is why Greek statues have very small penises? They were also very short. And what about their horses that look like ponies?

In art, large phalli were associated with comically grotesque characters like Priapus and the satyrs.
    , @Alfa158
The Classical esthetic sensibility regarded genitals as being the most animalistic part of the human body. As a result male genitals were represented in a dismissed scale to de-emphasize them. Female nudes were not as common as male nudes, but in their case the genitals were de-emphasized even further to a sort of featureless, hairless mons. I don’t know how much of that was a combination of trying to be more modest about depicting women, and a culturally homoerotic “ick!” attitude towards female naughty bits.

A more interesting issue is why Greek statues have very small penises?

Greeks associated small and non-erect penises with moderation, which was one of the key virtues that formed their view of ideal masculinity,” explains classics professor Andrew Lear...“There is the contrast between the small, non-erect penises of ideal men (heroes, gods, nude athletes etc) and the over-size, erect penises of Satyrs (mythic half-goat-men, who are drunkards and wildly lustful).”

  • Though Truman extended de facto recognition of Israel 11 minutes after its formal birth on May 16, 1948, the U.S. did not establish full diplomatic relations with Israel until 1949. Stalin extended de jure recognition of Israel 2 days after its birth, thus the USSR was the first country to form diplomatic relations with Israel....

Stalin did three good things to the Jewish people: (1) opened the frontier to Jews trying to escape the Wehrmacht (2) killed and burned Hitler, (3) convinced Russian Jews that they had no future under communism, so that in one generation they left for Israel. Compare with Roosevelt who closed the door and convinced stupid American Jews that politically, their place was in the left.

    Dear Same Old Jew

    From your web site...

''I cannot imagine what the Ayatollahs of Iran, who look rather normal and not very fanatic, have against us. They are following a persistent (twenty years and more) aggression against Israel and the Jews - see AMIA. Why?
May be no reason needed to hate us''

Regarding the monies owed to the Shah of Persia, the Swiss lawyers took the position that the Ayatollahs are the lawful inheritors of the Shah. They may be so, but there is small real life detail: the Ayatollahs have declared their intention to kill us all. And they are trying all the time.

"...the Ayatollahs have declared their intention to kill us all."
---You mistook them for Martin van Creveld, an Israeli military historian: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Option
Martin van Greveld: "We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force. Let me quote General Moshe Dayan: 'Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother.' I consider it all hopeless at this point. We shall have to try to prevent things from coming to that, if at all possible. Our armed forces, however, are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under."
Greveld is not alone: "Rosenbaum writes in his 2012 book ... that, in his opinion, in the "aftermath of a second Holocaust", Israel could "bring down the pillars of the world (attack Moscow and European capitals for instance)" as well as the "holy places of Islam." He writes that "abandonment of proportionality is the essence" of the Samson Option."
-- Or, perhaps, for you, the "intention to kill us all" comes from Iran' desire to decouple from petrodollar? As it was well-established by Smedley Butler, the US wars are the wars for banksters and other war profiteers. Recently, the US wars have been also fought for Eretz Israel.
Was it Iran that had maimed and murdered the American sailors on the USSLiberty?

Many commentators here do not seem to appreciate that Pat Lang's piece is meant to provide us with dispassionate and informed analysis of the strengths (not many) and weaknesses (a whole helluva lot) of the IDF ground forces. The piece is *not* meant to be read as offering a moral critique or justification of the IDF actions it details; these actions, right or wrong (and Lang clearly thinks they are very wrong), are offered by Lang as *evidence* in support of his analytic claims about the general quality of the IDF's discipline and preparedness. It is fairly obvious, for anybody who is able to read between the lines (as at least a few commentators have done), that Lang has a very low opinion indeed of the IDF ground
forces. He believes they will be routed easily in any confrontation with an actual army--be it Hezbollah, the SAA, or any one of Iran's many state/military-allied special forces units. This is very important knowledge for us to have, as it helps us understand the still unfolding crisis and to anticipate the shape any conflict between Israel and Syria/Hezbollah/Iran is likely, and unlikely, to take. Lang provides a real service in doing this, and it is a service that not many people alive in the US today are able to provide. That Lang ceased receiving major network interview requests to discuss ME politics and military conflicts more than a decade ago should tell you all you need to know about the accuracy of his views and how dangerous their airing has been judged to be for the AngloZionist project.

I don’t know how to take Lang’s pessimism about the IDF ground forces fighting capability. The IDF did fight against the Syrian army when suffering a surprise attack, and it won in two-three days. It fought against the British-led Jordanian army, and won. It also fought against the Hizballah and occupied South Lebanese territory (It was not easy because the Hizballah – the Party of God – had Russian RPGs and strong bunkers, but in one or two weeks they were vanquished). One wonders about the strength of Lang’s arguments.

The latest war the Iranians fought was against Saddam Hussein, and lasted seven years. How effective were Saddam’s forces? Not much, I gather, since it was cakewalk for the American expeditionary forces to take Baghdad.

The latest confrontation was with Hamas of Gaza. They bused thousands of juveniles to the frontier and tried to pass the cattle fence of the border and invade in mass Israel. The IDF positioned seven sharpshooters on an embankment. The outcome: the fanatical would-be martyrs retired defeated. Not one even reached the fence. Our losses: none.

Lang’s article is serious and professional, and deserved a better class of commentariat. The title “Juvenile…” reflects reality, the IDF is a young army and officers advance fast and retire at about 45. In many ways, the army is a continuation of high school, with classes and outings, and has the spirit of Jewish youth movements and summer camps. Traditionally, the leaders are one or two years older than the group, which is totally contrary to the American Army with professional sergeants and career soldiers. We adopt a different model because we do not want an established military caste like the Czarist or the pre-WWII German army.Or third world armies, always conspiring to impose “order” and establish a dictatorship a-la-Khaddafi. BTW in the IDF there are no sadistic sergeants “breaking down” the conscripts as used to in the USA.

    Agree.

It's interesting to point that all, say, "militias", or "freedom fighters" are actually organized as I.D.F.

Hezbollah, for example, too. Isn't that a crackup?
    Worked well for Donbass too.

That topic is serious and it's interesting to see how "US" (or, actually, British) model is used as a reference.

For example, Partisans in Balkans, fighting against Axis (and assortment of their domestic allies) used the same model. Worked for them rather well.
And, the same principle was used by secession republics/regions in wars in Yugoslavia. Croats, Bosnian Muslims, Kosovars used exactly the same principle to build their armed forces.
    Makes you think, a?

And, actually, didn't the Cromwell New Army work on the same principle?
Or US rebels against the Crown?

Somebody would say that IDF model is exactly what would be required for US militia fighting against the State. Say, uprising, rebellion...or, God forbid, secession from Washington D.C.

So.....it's a bit more complicated than the author is making of it here.

In support of the strategic thesis advanced in this important article, I seem to recall that the original Russian military intervention in Syria was accompanied by a volley of ultra-long-range cruise missiles, whose capabilities greatly surprised American military analysts.

At the time, such a high-tech attack on ISIS positions seemed rather cost-ineffective to me, but presumably a major purpose was to dissuade America (and Israel) from considering any future attack on what was a rather small and isolated Russian expeditionary force.

Also, since Russia, Iran, and Iraq have become de facto allies in the Syria War, I'd think that the use of Iranian and Iraqi airspace as the launch point for the latest bombardment is also meant to raise much greater doubts in Trump's military advisors about the huge risks in any future attack against Iran or attempt to forcefully renegotiate the existing nuclear treaty.

For the last hundred years Russia has been trying to invalidate the Sykes-Picot division of areas of influence in the Middle East. It never succeeded. The Western alliance formed in WWI is still operative and the old balance of forces has not changed.

Obviously, illegal immigrants will not want to leave voluntarily, unless they are detained, or there is some external pressure applied. It is paradise for them.

However, unlike Ukrainians and Georgians, who are deported from Israel - Sudanese and Eritreans are not deported, and they have their work permits given to them by the Israeli government according to the Supreme Court.

It's a case where 'not all illegal immigrants are equal' - with the Sudanese and Eritreans illegal immigrants being treated like a royalty by Israel, even though Israel can only make them leave voluntarily. You made me think of this passage in Fernandez-Morera's "The Myth of the Andalusian Paradise" about Arab conquerors who... weren't exactly "Arab" after a few generations:

As Arabist Celia del Moral observes, the Umayyads particularly valued blond or red-haired Franc and Galician women as sexual slaves. Indeed, the physical appearance of several Spanish Muslim princes betrayed their descent from Caucasian slave mothers. The Middle East–born founder of the Umayyad dynasty in Spain, Abd al-Rahman I (reigned 755–788), was blond; Hisham I (reigned 788–796) had very white skin and reddish hair; Muhammad I (reigned 852–886) had a pink face; Abd Allah b. Muhammad (reigned 888–912) had white skin, a pink face, blue eyes, and blond hair; Caliph Abd al-Rahman III (reigned 912–961) had white skin, a pink face, and blue eyes, and he tinted his blond hair black to appear more “Arabic” to his subjects; Caliph Hakam al-Mostancir II (reigned 961–976) had reddish hair; and Caliph Hisham II (reigned since 976 variously as a puppet until his assassination in 1013), the last Umayyad ruler, and the son of a Basque sexual slave, a “skilled singer [who] exerted over [his father] great influence,” was blond, with blue eyes and a reddish beard. Abd al-Rahman V al-Mustazhir (assassinated in Córdoba in 1024), who reigned briefly after the death of Almanzor, was blond, and the son of a sexual slave. The founder of the presumably “Arab” dynasty of the Nasrids of Granada, Muhammad b. Nasr (d. 1273), was called “The Red One” (al-Hamar) because of his red beard. Initially, the invaders of al-Andalus were mostly men. Therefore, as Arabic sources indicate, the practice of having children with Spanish Christian women probably began when the son of Musa took as one of his several wives Queen Egilo (or Egilona), widow of the Visigoth king Rodrigo. The European presence in the lineage of Muslim rulers did not stop with the arrival of the Berber Almohads: the Almohad caliph Abu Yusuf Yaqub b. Yaqub b. Abd al-Mumin b. Ali (d. 1198) was the son of a Christian sexual slave girl. Similarly, we know that one of the kings of the taifa kingdom of Granada, Muhammad Ibn Yusuf Nasr (d. 1310) took as one of his wives the captured female Christian ruler of the city of Bedmar, María Jiménez, and had from her several children.

The Spanish Arabist Julián Ribera calculated that, as a result of this sexual intercourse with Caucasian Christian girls, each generation of Umayyad rulers saw its genetic “Arab” component reduced by half, so that the last Umayyad, Hisham II (976–1013), would have had approximately 0.09 percent of “Arabic” genetic makeup. Ribera concluded that already by their second generation Umayyad rulers in al-Andalus had far more European than “Arab” genes; that a similar process of geometrically increased mating between Muslims and native Spanish Christian women or their eventually Muslim female descendants must have diluted dramatically the non-European genetic makeup of the general population of al-Andalus; and that this European Christian factor, with its presumably greater love of individual liberty and regard for the individual human being as opposed to the group, contributed to the again presumably greater “freedom” women enjoyed in Islamic Spain as opposed to other regions of the umma. Whatever one may think of Ribera’s imaginative last conclusion in view of what we now know about the actual condition of Muslim women in Islamic Spain, it is not unlikely that the process he describes would have influenced al-Andalus culturally and socially. Writing in the fourteenth century, the historian Ibn al-Khatib described the inhabitants of Granada as “white skinned.”

As a NW Euro with blonde hair, red beard, pink skin, and blue eyes, I find it amusing that there were "Arab" muslims as white as I am. Your prognostication of super white Jews in the 24th century is believable.

The North African elite in Spain intermarried with the West Goths (“godos”), who were effectively Swedish. But the great masses of African “moros” remained unmixed. Andalucia is still the less developed part of Spain.

I don't think subjects like 'sociology' or 'evolutionary psychology' require any intelligence to write in. They require a high degree of confirmation bias to string together your hypothesis, while discounting things that disprove or contradict your viewpoint. These theories are mainly operating in the realm of confirmation bias. But if you are an engineer and you reason like this in your work (i.e. without constant double-checking and examining of contradictions, and checking that you are not bewitched by confirmation bias), your figurative bridge will fail.

Presence on the ground in Sweden seems irrelevant. Sweden (like the rest of Western Europe) has been a de facto part of the American Empire since 1945. It's a statement of obvious fact that West Europeans have undergone a process of Americanization since WW2. For example, how long was it between the time when "hippies" made their first appearance in California in 1966 and they became common in Stockholm? Swedes have watching American TV and movies and listening to American music for a long time.

    Some Swedish guy:
    http://conswede.blogspot.com/2008/07/social-paradigms-shift-eg-our-view-on.html

To illustrate what I talk about. Louis Armstrong visited Sweden in 1933. In all the news papers he was describe as something monkey-like let loose from the jungle. All across the line! And in the reviews by the most serious music critics.

Who would have imagined in 1933, that twelve years later Western Europe would undergo an America-led cultural revolution which would lead to the common belief that there are no differences between races?

Translation of two of the quotes:

Knut Bäck in Göteborgs-Posten, November 1933:
"This world is strange... No protests are raised against how the jungle is let loose into the society. Armstrong and his band are allowed to freely wreak destruction."

Sten Broman in Sydsvenskan, November 1933:
"Dare I say that he at times had something monkey-like about him and sometimes reminded of, according to our perceptions, a mentally disturbed person, when he pouted with his mouth or gaped it to its widest open and roared like a hoarse animal from a primeval forest."

The third quote compares the concert with a natural disaster, and Armstrong's trumpet with a hell machine. The only good thing coming out of it, he says, is that it solves to old dispute of whether monkeys have a language.

This is what Europe looked like, up until 1945. And since some people will live under the misconception that this was a phenomenon of the '30s, I here provide a quote from the Swedish Encyclopedia, Nordisk Familjebok, the 1876-1899 edition (here and here).

"Psychologically the negro can be said be on the level of a child, with vivid fantasy, lack of endurance, ... can be said to lack morality rather than being immoral ... etc."

Even though the point here has been to illustrate how social paradigms can shift completely in short time (and this is just one out of numerous examples), let me add how up until 1945 all the focus was put on the differences between races, and after that all the focus has been put on what is equal (while ignoring differences)

And it's not a Russian problem, in the West, they become professional SJWs and the like.

I admit that it is possible that you are commenting on a different population, because no Jew in Russia ever was granted an “honorary” diploma. May be you are referring to Vladimir Putin’s Ph.D. or similar official functionaries, or just informal politeness addresses like calling professor the judo trainer.

    Lol. No.

Anybody who has ever lived in Russia knows that so-called “skilled” occupations is just a way of underhandedly distributing welfare money. Russia has no welfare as such, but instead millions of fake “teachers”, “doctors” and “researchers” who would be otherwise forced to dumpster dive for aluminum cans.

The idea is clear but it is not practicable. Being classified as disabled is insulting and absurd for healthy individuals, say a Black athlete. They don’t see themselves as disabled and will not accept the stigma, neither will the mass of non Black people. Differential taxation is already being practiced by ‘Progressive” taxation where the “rich” are taxed at higher rates. In the current system, Black pay almost no taxes. In Europe there are “negative taxes” by which local Blacks get paid extra for any work they do. Differential pricing is also in place: elderly people pay less for certain subsidized services, Black neighborhood and cities (like Flint) pay less for municipal services. All these inequalities are accepted by the mass of the de-facto discriminated people because they are more or less hidden and localized, and it mentally accounted as charity. Or compensation for slavery eight generations ago. Ms Paul-Emile’s open system would be divisive and exacerbate the hostility against Blacks to an intolerable level. Charity should be hidden and without shaming the beggar.

Are you saying that the reason these professional liars are so heavily Jewish is because Jewish people are just abnormally good at lying? Or, they just like lying more than other people do, or what?

I'm not sure what else that could mean.

    but dumb ass..

if you're a Zionist, then you are de facto in favor of massive immigration of all non-whites into all white nations and commit ethnic suicide posthaste

It is a fundamental tenet of Zionism that just as Israel must be a racially pure Jewish state, so too concurrently all white nations must flood their countries with millions upon millions of non-whites.

Just ask the neocons, the uber-Zionists who determine policy. They all demand massive immigration. Sheldon and the Kristols and all of them. The entire Zionist power structure, from the Hollywood liberals to the National Review neoccucks to the Weekly Standard neocons.

that's why their lickspittles like McCain and Rubio and Jeb are all down on their knees for more and more immigrants.

That is, in fact, why they hate Trump and the Deplorables, because of the rhetoric that is anti-immigrant.

So you need to get with the program

if you’re a Zionist, then you are de facto in favor of massive immigration ….

Rurik, I am a Zionist and just wrote the opposite. Your delirium is remarkable, Sir.

Regarding the Zionist program, it simply refers to build a safe country for the Jewish people in its historical land. It has absolutely nothing to do with American immigration or whatever. but dumb ass..

if you're a Zionist, then you are de facto in favor of massive immigration of all non-whites into all white nations and commit ethnic suicide posthaste

…how can you justify killing off one group of allegedly Muslim fanatics by another group of (demonstrably proven) Muslim fanatics, the Saudis?
Why do I need to justify anything? For some reason or no reason these two are fighting. The Saudis are longtime American allies, the Houthis are not. That may change, but it is so for now. If you treat both the same, soon you will have no allies and no friends. Certainly so in this cruel Middle East. It is simple as that.

our 'allies' in the Middle East have been and continue to be the worst enemies of America the American people.

Starting with the "shitty little state".

these devil's alliances are, as you rightly point out, temporary and subject to change depending on what's good for the American people today.

Right now what's good for the American people is to tell the Saudis that they're on their own, and any trouble they get themselves into with their neighbors are their own problems to solve.

In exactly the same way we need to tell all the stone age, religious nut-cases over there that America is done waging wars for tribal gods of death and hate.

Starting with, as I mentioned - the shitty little state.

I'd like to see the Trump administration use the State Dept. and the Internet- to reach the Arabs and Persians in the street, and all Sunnis and Shiites; as to just who in the Middle East is and continues to be their collective enemy - for decades now. Because it is the same enemy that perpetrated the cowardly and treacherous attack on our Navy ship the USS Liberty, and the same enemy that watched our towers attacked in yet another cowardly and treacherous act of war on 9/11, and then danced around cheering the attack, as our citizens died horribly.

We all need to recognize the root of evil and war in that traumatized region of the world.

And the scum who are behind it all. Most of all we all need to repudiate the treasonous liars and foreign agents in our congress. Working for agents of that shitty little state, like Sheldon Adelson and so many other Israeli-firsters, and tell them to walk away from their jobs, or be fired.

Some have gotten the memo. Like Senators Flake and Corker. God had to send the message directly to McCain by way of merciful (to the rest of the world) divine providence. [Blessed be His will]

hopefully the rest of them will either get on board with the America-first agenda, or go rot in obscurity as vile traitors to their nation and people.

But the sooner these enemies of this nation, both foreign: like the House of Saud and Israel, and domestic, like the treasonous members of congress who have put the interests of foreign nations ahead of their oaths and their country - get the message; that we have not forgotten 9/11, and the evil that was done to us on that day. And now it's finally time to put America first, the better it will be for everyone, including the starving civilians in Yemen.

Since Houthis did not attack the US nor have they killed any Christians they desserve to be bombed instead of dropping food packets on them. Is that your thinking? Buchanan's question was, why are we helping Saudis maintain this blockade? Why do you call the Houthis "Muslim fanatics?"

Unz presents a false conspiratorial picture of Alexander’s succession of Philip. There is no doubt that Philip worried a lot for Alexander’s upbringing, procuring the very best education available, including hiring the philosopher Aristotle to tutor him. He also brought in Greece’s most famous prostitute to initiate Alexander in heterosexual love (he seems to have been less than enthusiastic). Moreover, Philip left the adolescent Alexander in charge of the kingdom while he was away in campaign and Alexander more than justified his confidence by enslaving nearby tribes. He also led the horse unit in his father’s campaigns, most successfully.

When Philip was assassinated, Alexander did not succeed him by way of conspiracy or eliminating rivals, as the article seems to suggest, he had no need of that, because the Army immediately elected him to be its leader.

More like they successfully defended themselves from being defeated - at a huge cost. They made it so hard for Persia to conquer them, that Persians eventually gave up. It was also at a logistically impossible distance from the heart of Persia, so it made little sense to keep on trying. Great job, but you can hardly call it 'winning'. Similar to Vietnam and US: Vietnam technically won, but at what cost, and what exactly did they 'win'?

    > those more than 2 million newcomers to the region are living in houses and driving on roads and shopping in stores built atop what once was prairie that could have absorbed at least some of the fury of this flood and the next.

Yeah, this Jewish rice farmer's wisdom about permeability was all the rage on the network news tonight. Soil absorbing an inch of rain, that'd be a lot. And it would make a difference for a 1.5" downpour.

For 20 or 30 inches of rain, not so much.

Covering the soil with an impermeable layer of asphalt or buildings increases the peak flow of the hydrograph, causing flooding. For a 20 inch rain, urbanization could triple and more the peak flow. Houston city engineers know this and had probably built drainage systems to cope with one in fifty years rainfall. No city prepares for statistically infrequent meteorological events. Anyway, ic100 manages to shift the blame (1) to immigrants and their fertility, and (2) Jews. Clever. Is not.

    Agree.

    > For a 20 inch rain, urbanization could triple and more the peak flow.
That's the conventional wisdom I was commenting on, but is it correct? It's counterintuitive: e.g. 5 inches in a short time is a lot of rain, enough to cause flooding and damage in most places. Well before that point, talking about "permeability" is talking about the effect of the lakebed on downstream water levels. Since you disagree, how about a reference for "triple and more"?

    > ic100 manages to shift the blame (1) to immigrants and their fertility,
It's true that (a) people settle toplands before bottomlands, (b) as a geography fills with people, bottomlands experience more development, (c) Houston's low-lying areas are far more developed than they were in 2000, due to population growth, largely the influx of immigrants, (d) the human and economic tolls of this "50o-year flood" are much worse than they would have been in, say, 2000. As far as the claim that my comment blames immigrants for the weather, please write more clearly, and don't make things up.

    > ic100 manages to shift the blame [to] (2) Jews.

    The post is interesting.

    But there is an outside.

By that I mean I can use a Chinese search engine, use Ali Baba instead of Amazon, Facebook, and EBay.

"It has perhaps occurred to people like Google CEO Sundar Pichai that if Google can lead the IT industry into a massively bureaucratised business model with layers of HR administrators, sensitivity coaches, VPs for diversity and community relations and “equality” tsars, it can, by voluntarily loading its body up with parasites, require all industry players to do the same – including small start-up players whose competitive threat to Google can be eliminated by virtue of social justice jihadis crushing them with their increasingly ridiculous financial demands."

How is this going to work, when in a manner akin to overseas manufacturers avoiding US safety and environmental laws, foreign competitors compete directly with these Silicon Valley concerns?

These guys (Silicon Valley) don't have sh#t. This is the easiest freaking thing in the universe for a foreign competitor to compete directly with all these guys. For god's sake a foreign concern doesn't even have higher transportation costs for shipping their widgets from Shanghai instead of Cleveland.

Seriously what's left out there? All these "Tech" things are software. Things that are easily (relatively speaking) duplicated somewhere else. Not sure how much chip manufacture and design still takes place out there, but is someone going to tell me that:

    1) It can't be done in China? (Or Japan or Korea or Russia for that matter?)
    2) That it won't be?

Basically nothing left in a sense but "Virtual" things. All the names you used to hear: Intel, Fairchild, HP, etc. nothing like what they were.

And my contention is that the speed these things vanished is as nothing compared to the speed a Google can vanish.

The animal spirits done got up and went if you ask me.

Sunbeam: I had the same reaction. Google is sensitive to pressure and foreign competition. Yet, if Google can turn the tables and assimilate the US Government attack and acquire instead Gov protection, then large colonial markets will open up for it. I mean Google is having problems in the EU and in China, but with US Gov giving it its full support, it can enter and conquer those markets. For Google it is vital to be considered a strategic Gov asset. If to be able to do business it has to hire a few hundred disgusting PC commissars, well, consider it done before the end of the day.

From 1947 on, non-Ashkenazi Jews are majority in Israel. Lynn’s data on Jewish IQ reflects a mixed population and is probably correct. Israeli Jews, in average, are from a different stock from American Jews.

However these temptations are not in the best interests of the American people. (I do not know what is this "the economy" of which you speak.)

Ultimately, “economy” is the capacity to pay and equip a fighting army. America is able to maintain military bases all over the world, thirteen or more battle groups permanently patrolling the seven seas, materially and politically assist dozens of important military allies like Israel, Germany, Taiwan, etc. “Economy” is also the capacity to pay off rebellious minorities, like the fifty million strong local Africans. Think of Rome: When could not pay its soldiers, it had to retire from England and Dacia and Pannonia and soon collapsed. Need I say more?

No, they don't. I had my first construction job at age 18 (1990s). The Mexicans who picked up our scrap would drink beers in the alley during lunch. I couldn't get away with that then, and I can't now.

The one advantage to Mexican labor is they can't easily leave an employer for a higher status job. They're stuck in the grey economy because of their legal status. For employers, that's pretty important. Having that kind of leverage over your employees is worth a lot. It's the same reason it isn't that hard to find a labor job as a felon. It's always been that way here in the US, but I wouldn't expect most Unz readers to know that, nor would I blame them for their lack of knowledge on the subject. But really, an employer at a construction company would rather hire an illegal alien or a felon than a university grad for anything that doesn't require a degree.

So if you're a young man who's out of work and looking for decent pay as a laborer, leave out any college education in your application, because it won't help you a bit.

They work hard but Hispanics don't work smart. All of that hard work for nothing because on average Hispanics still have a higher poverty rate than White Gringos and Asians in America.

It is very bad when the police is not allowed to police the city and impose order. In the past, when formal police was incapable of doing its job, informal voluntary organizations took upon themselves to make some order. The Godfather I shows exactly how that starts. Those secret armed organizations are bad for everybody.

I remember Budapest December 1956. The Soviet occupation army left Hungary and the local police and secret service “evaporated”. The neighbors organized armed patrols. They had armbands with Hungarian colors. They knocked on the door to recruit my father. The whole thing was terrible for me as a child. People was hanged on trees in the streets. AngloSaxon people have even a much stronger instinct of public order, they will not tolerate disorder.

UNCLASSIFIED U.S. Department of State Case No. F-2014-20439 Doc No. C05794498 Date: 11/30/2015

The best way to help Israel deal with Iran's growing nuclear capability is to help the people of Syria overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad.

    ...

An Iranian nuclear weapons capability would not only end that nuclear monopoly but could also prompt other adversaries, like Saudi Arabia and Egypt, to go nuclear as well. The result would be a precarious nuclear balance in which Israel could not respond to provocations with conventional military strikes on Syria and Lebanon, as it can today.

The State Department is wrong. Nuclear balance between enemies does not prevent armed response to provocations. Mutual dissuasion works both ways meaning that the Iran theocrats will surely think twice and be prevented to respond to Israeli actions. Look how a courageous leader like Vladimir Putin recovered Crimea and is fighting in Ukraine and Syria – in spite of nuclear dissuasion. When you and me both have revolvers pointing to each other’s heads, the more courageous wins. The one with “beytzim” – balls. Or the craziest, and no one is crazier than we.

The USA is a young country. In questions of race, it is 200 years behind Latin America. The former Spanish and Portuguese colonies abandoned circa 1800 all formal caste classifications. Of course, Blacks and Indians did not suddenly became Europeans, but if they had enough money they were treated as elite Whites. In Brazil there is no racial classification or discrimination, your wealth implicitly defines your social position. Nothing changed, of course, but at least Brazilians are free of the sick American race obsession.

The key difference between mainland Anglo-America and Latin America is the presence of European women. There were very few in Latin America during the colonial epoch, which meant that European men had to turn to Black and Amerind women for sexual release. Concubinage and polygny were the norm (the Church simply looked the other way).

Anglo-America, in contrast, had substantial numbers of European women at a very early date. Indeed, in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, the sex ratio in the 1630s was nearly equal. Hence, Anglo men could intermarry with Anglo women and not have to interbreed with Blacks and Amerinds.

Suppose you've got a coin weighted 85/15 in favor of heads. You flip it 25 times and get 11 heads. That is what happened at Palantir with "heads" = "Asian". The chances of that happening by chance are roughly .000002, or two in a million. So it is a tad more than what the story says: "one in 3.4 million." And yes ... I am Asian.

Doc, what the hell are you calculating? According to the accusation Palantir was racially distorting the free play of the probabilities. 85% of the applicant were Asian, therefore, says the government, 85% of the hired engineers should have been Asian. Any other proportion would mean that Palantir is racially biased.

The only way Palantir can survive in this Government imposed racial quota system is by cheating, which given the Government’s ludicrous math skills, must be extremely easy and fun.

Perhaps even worse, math is “Eurocentric” and needs a major multi-cultural revision!!

Mandatory mathematics re-education camps will begin with the below 2 books (all text from Amazon book descriptions).

Ethnomathematics: Challenging Eurocentrism in Mathematics Education Arthur B. Powell (Editor)

“Presents the emerging field of ethnomathematics from a critical perspective, challenging particular ways in which Eurocentrism permeates mathematics education and mathematics in general.

This collection brings together classic, previously-published articles and new research to present the emerging field of ethnomathematics from a critical perspective, challenging particular ways in which Eurocentrism permeates mathematics education. The contributors identify several of the field's broad themes--reconsidering what counts as mathematical knowledge, considering interactions between culture and mathematical knowledge, and uncovering hidden and distorted histories of mathematical knowledge. The book offers a diversity of ethnomathematics perspectives that develop both theoretical and practical issues from various disciplines including mathematics, mathematics education, history, anthropology, cognitive psychology, feminist studies, and African studies written by authors from Brazil, England, Australia, Mozambique, Palestine, Belgium, and the United States.”

Ethnomathematics: A Multicultural View of Mathematical Ideas by Marcia Ascher

“In this truly one-of-a-kind book, Ascher introduces the mathematical ideas of people in traditional, or "small-scale", cultures often omitted from discussion of mathematics. Topics such as "Numbers: Words and Symbols", "Tracing Graphs in the Sand", "The Logic of Kin Relations", "Chance and Strategy in Games and Puzzles", and "The Organization and Modeling of Space" are traced in various cultures including the Inuit, Navajo, and Iroquois of North America; the Inca of South America; the Malekula, Warlpiri, Maori, and Caroline Islanders of Oceania, and the Tshokwe, Bushoong, and Kpelle of Africa.”

Perhaps “big data” can learn from the small scale mathematics described by Ms. Ascher.

How could math be Eurocentric when its best practitioners are East Asians?

Once you could accuse banks of being racist for not giving loans to dark skinned persons. Now banks, using math, judge the creditworthiness of a person without having to looking at his face. The math they use is racist. Math in general is racist.

I propose to use instead sniffing machines to identify the “catinga” (body odor) of the person asking for a loan. Asians and well washed Northern Europeans would be approved automatically. No systematically racist math or comp programs.

Because East Asians can be categorized as either ersatz whites (or even "lily whites") or "people of color" to suit the particular rhetorical needs of the leftists at any given moment.

So, for example, the tech industry in Silicone Valley, which is substantially Asian, can be reviled as too white and hostile to, and dismissive toward, non-whites (read "blacks and Hispanics") with a straight face by leftists.
    , @PiltdownMan

How could math be Eurocentric when its best practitioners are East Asians?

    Is this actually true?

I know about Terence Tao, and see a fair number of East Asian names in the faculty listings of Math departments at our best universities, but have East Asians largely displaced Whites in the extreme reaches of the right-tail of working mathematicians?

The high school level Math Olympiads are certainly dominated by ̶E̶a̶s̶t̶ ̶A̶s̶i̶a̶n̶s̶ ̶ Chinese of late, but I don't see similar effects in the Fields Medal list or the Abel Prize list yet. Of course, it is logical to expect a latency of two or more decades between the leading and lagging indicators of who the "best" practitioners are.
