I am pretty bad with these puns. But this one might just be SSC-worthy. One of my goals for the rest of Anti-Bolshevik Month is to write a comprehensive alternate history in which the Russian Republic survives WW1. Randall Parker's question on Twitter: "Imagine a time traveler goes back to 1913 and kill Hitler, Stalin,... Read More
It will be the centenary of the October Revolution in a couple of days - the original color revolution that finished off a great and rapidly modernizing empire and handed power to a gang of Russia-hating criminals. To mark the occasion, the next two weeks I will be documenting the dismal failure of sovok across... Read More
A couple of weeks ago, Ukraine passed an edict banning access to a host of Russian web services including VKontakte and Odnoklassniki (Russia's Facebook, and most popular social network in Ukraine, with 13 million users; Odnoklassniki is 4th, with 9 million users; for comparison, Facebook is 8th with 5.6 million users, though tellingly it is... I would like to thank everyone for participating in the Reader Poll 2016. The responses have been very helpful and have helped spur me on to make some strategic changes to the way I'll proceed with my blogging forthwith. First off, it's good to know that the average "quality of posts" mark was 4.2/5, so... Read More
My response to Snowdengate, the new Graph Search, its inevitable integration with Google Glass? I will be minimizing my privacy settings and for all intents and purposes making my Facebook public. So good ahead, look up my profile. Friend me. Whatever. I don't mind. Sounds counter-intuitive, huh? There's a logic behind the madness. It's now... Read More

By now this doesn't apply to me, as between my non-anonymous Russophilia, HBD-ing, gaming, and AGW-ing I've long ostracized myself from both liberals and conservatives and torpedoed myself any hopes of "respectable" employment anyway. I do however wonder about the point of... Read More
In the Japanese TV series Dennō Coil, people wear Internet-connected augmented reality glasses and interact with a world that is now split between the real and the virtual. Citizens and netizens become one. The story is set in 2026, some eleven years after the introduction of this technology. Considering that this series was first conceived... Read More

About Anatoly Karlin

I am a blogger, thinker, and businessman in the SF Bay Area. I’m originally from Russia, spent many years in Britain, and studied at U.C. Berkeley.

One of my tenets is that ideologies tend to suck. As such, I hesitate about attaching labels to myself. That said, if it’s really necessary, I suppose “liberal-conservative neoreactionary” would be close enough.

Though I consider myself part of the Orthodox Church, my philosophy and spiritual views are more influenced by digital physics, Gnosticism, and Russian cosmism than anything specifically Judeo-Christian.
