The flagship organ of Conservatism Inc. is suddenly worried about intellectual diversity after The Atlantic fired former National Review contributor Kevin Williamson. David French thinks it is “cowardly” [On the cowardly firing of Kevin Williamson, April 5, 2018]. Jonah Goldberg thinks it is a victory for mob rule. [Kevin Williamson, Thought Criminal, April 6, 2018] Michael Brendan Dougherty denounces “the sudden onset of illiteracy and bad faith of people writing about my former colleague, Kevin Williamson” . [Imagine a genocide, April 6, 2018] The phrase which comes to mind, six years after the purge of John Derbyshire from National Review, is “self-discrediting.” And Conservatism Inc. has put itself in this position by triangulating and “purging” itself into irrelevance.

The comments which terminated Williamson’s brief Atlantic career were his supposedly ironic musings about whether women who had abortions should be given the death penalty. Goldberg is particularly outraged by this because Williamson never made this sardonic argument in the pages of National Review, let alone The Atlantic. “Kevin was fired for what he thinks,” intones Goldberg, with the italics in the original.

Of course, John Derbyshire’s version of “The Talk,” which advised people to avoid African-Americans in certain circumstances for their own safety, was similarly not published in National Review, but in Takimag. Yet this did not save Derbyshire’s job. This is especially odd considering Derbyshire’s advice wasn’t about hanging or hurting people, but keeping them alive. Indeed, many naïve white people would still be alive had Derb’s advice been followed.

To take another example, Robert Weissberg, was also fired from National Review for actions unrelated to his job there. His sin: appearing at the American Renaissance conference—even though his speech there actually denounced “white nationalism” as impossible. NR Editor Rich Lowry actually thanked the Antifa cum hall monitors who alerted him. Among those publications rejoicing at Weisberg’s fate: naturally, The Atlantic [Racist Writers Are Right To Feel Threatened, by Elspeth Reeve, April 11, 2012].

In short, Jonah Goldberg isn’t defending a principle. He, like Ben Shapiro, is simply angry because The Atlantic is getting to act as the censor— rather than himself.

Sample Tweet from 2012 (one of many)

Still, while tu quoque is satisfying rhetorically, the Williamson episode does show that the limits of permissible opinion are narrowing rapidly—despite (or perhaps because of) Donald Trump’s election. It was The Atlantic which hosted a serious discussion on The Camp of the Saints in 1994 [Must It Be the Rest Against the West, by Matthew Connelly and Paul Kennedy, December 1994]. Back in 1971, the magazine was discussing racial realism; today, it’s mad there aren’t enough black riots.

As Ben Domenech notes darkly:

This story is a predictable continuation of the Left’s ownership not just of media but indeed of all institutions…If you have wrongthink, you will not be allowed for long to make your living within any space the Left has determined they own – first the academy, then the media, then corporate America, and now the public square.

[Firing Kevin Williamson Is Just the Beginning, The Federalist, April 6, 2018]

This is true. But Domenech is not exactly a model of intellectual tolerance himself: he has denounced his critics on the right, such as the late Lawrence Auster, as “Evilcons,” [VFR’s Editor Attacked As “Evil-Con, View From The Right, August 11, 2003].

Domenech, who appropriately is now Meghan McCain’s husband, has also attacked Donald Trump and those on the authentic American Right for pursuing “identity politics” instead of “limited government.”

Domenech is notorious for plagiarism, but this isn’t exactly an example—even though you feel like you’ve heard this same argument a million times before.

But given that Williamson is being punished by the “free market,” and not “the state,” what is Domenech even complaining about? Here’s your limited government, good and hard. After all, as long as there’s not a government bureaucrat giving the order, that’s “freedom” right?

Indeed, in one of those little moments which makes one believe in divine justice, Williamson’s first (and last) Atlantic column was precisely on this theme, bemoaning the fall of “classical liberalism” and blasting Victor Davis Hanson for advocating regulation of tech companies, “perhaps on the public utility model” [The Passing Of The Libertarian Moment, April 2, 2018].

Just hours before the news of Williamson’s termination, Hanson responded in National Review:

In light of what is revealed near daily about Silicon Valley, Facebook, I do not think I was in error in worrying about either its agendas or methods, or the paradox of the tech sector thus far receiving a pass from the usual muckraking Left…

Sadly, I think Kevin Williamson will soon find that National Review was far more tolerant of his controversial views than will be true at The Atlantic.

[A Response To Kevin Williamson, April 5, 2018]

And so indeed Williamson did.

Not to belabor the point, on Saturday, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey approving cited a story interpreting current American politics as a “civil war” in which conservatives must be driven completely out of institutional power, as they have been in California [The Great Lesson of California in America’s New Civil War, by Peter Leyden and Ruy Teixeira, Medium, April 7, 2018]

Ensuring those who want to destroy us have more money and power to do it isn’t much of a program. Yet that’s Williamson’s conservatism.

Indeed, rendering conservatism toothless is something of a specialty for Williamson. “He loves to take arguments to the breaking point in hopes of shocking readers with his cold, unbound logic,” writes Jack Shafer in Politico, calling him a “conservative fire-breather”. [Congrats, Jeff Goldberg. You Just Martyred Kevin Williamson, April 6, 2018]

But it’s not really true. Williamson finds a problem with the Left, deconstructs it with colorful prose, and then forces it into a normal Conservative Inc. frame which is guaranteed to fail. Positioning the likes of Kevin Williamson as a “fire-breather” is just another way Main Stream Media journalist/ activists are trying to move the Overton Window ever leftward.

This isn’t to say Williamson is stupid. He may be something worse. He probably knows more than he is letting on.

For example, he has favorably cited Sam Francis when discussing the concept of “anarcho-tyranny”. [Meet the New Serfs: You, by Kevin Williamson, National Review, October 23, 2014].

He also has some measure of skill in crafting amusing ad hominem attacks. (As I’ve referred to him as an obese version of Anton LaVey, game recognize game.)

Yet Williamson’s signature technique is not to take ideas to their logical conclusion, but to take idiotic Beltway Right premises to their logical conclusion. Thus we get all-or-nothing, eliminationist rhetoric about abstract ideological stances and a refusal to recognize demographic realities.

For example, writing about Detroit, Williamson pins the city’s woes on “progressivism in its final stages of decadence” and blames it for “the death of its children”. [Progressivism Kills, February 1, 2014] Yet Portland is so progressive that Republicans who want to march in a parade get threatened with death. However, (as long as you are quiet about your politics) Portland is consistently ranked one of the best places to live in America, and, not coincidentally, one of the whitest.

Speaking of Portland, the Leftists there are renaming schools once dedicated to Thomas Jefferson because he was a slaveholder. Nationally, the Democrats’ traditional Jefferson-Jackson dinners are also being renamed because of concerns about “racism.” This defies Williamson’s 2015 column declaring this would never happen.

People are not driven by party labels but more primal forces such as identity and power. The truth is we are not at “peak Leftism,” and the Left won’t stop until it is forced to. Leftists have no reason to pay attention to Conservatism Inc. complaints. Not only do conservatives have no institutional power, their intellectual leaders are constantly lecturing them that it is immoral to pursue power.

If there was a serious American Right, we’d be having discussions about nationalizing social networking sites or at least guaranteeing free speech online. Instead, after a desperate struggle during the 2016 campaign, the only meaningful accomplishment of the united Republican government is a tax cut for the people who are openly vowing to destroy us.

It’s not surprising we get such stupid, self-destructive ideas because “the Conservative Movement” has systematically expelled and disavowed anyone who had anything interesting or creative to say.

Now, after decades of internal purges and appeasement, the cuckservatives of Conservatism Inc. are complaining that Leftists won’t give them a platform.

But why should they? The cucks have performed their function. They neutered the Beltway Right. Leftists don’t need them anymore.

Luckily, neither do American patriots.

  1. To call National Review the flagship organ of Conservatism Inc. is to do great damage to conservatism. Conservatism is Sam Francis! William Buckley, the well-raised son of a Texas oil wildcatter was conned into starting National Review by James Burnham, former Trotskyite, former Stalinist, who broke with the party in the late 1930s when he embraced corporatism, a polite term for interlocked international business. Here are two pieces by George Orwell on Burnham:

"To call National Review the flagship organ of Conservatism Inc. is to do great damage to conservatism. Conservatism is Sam Francis...etc."

Conservatism Inc. isn't conservative in case you don't quite get the irony of the label with its "Inc." attached. Con-Inc. is the fake conservatism that has had its home in the GOP for 35+ years. The corporate version of conservatism has as much to do with true American conservatism (as expressed in the writings of the late Sam Francis), as a vegetarian Bogus Burger or a Not Dog has to do with meat.

Magazines such as NR or The Atlantic haven't been outlets for conservative punditry since the mid 1990s, if then.

    , @Catiline
Fleming is indeed conservative, which is why he's a useless, worthless old overrated idiot.
    , @Art Deco
I have the impression Mr. Richardson defines 'conservative' as 'press agent for destructive Serb revanchists' or perhaps 'employee of the dregs of the White Citizens' Council'. Enjoy meeting in convention in that linen closet.

Yep, very true, Randal. Unz Review remains a go-to publication for me after a bit more than two years since I stumbled upon it. I think the reason is that our masters enjoy such massive powers of initiative and influence upon the media and other nominally democratic institutions that articulate, reasoned dissent simply gains neither light nor oxygen---except at UR and perhaps at other publications. I'm glad there's some pushback at news items that are too pat, too well-spun, too enabling of our masters' agendas.

Still wondering when the Unz Review will be "disappeared."

Too much unvarnished truth and ferocious challenges to the narrative in one place cannot be left standing by the Great and the Good.

I have never encountered such a publication as Unz. Review

This was what happened in Spain in the 1930s, and the problem there was successfully dealt with by those means.

Not that the same solution is necessarily either appropriate or achievable in the very different circumstances of the US today. Mind you, if the situation progresses as far as the left took it in Spain, then many more on the right are likely to decide that something like that is justified.

Of course, there's no guarantee the right would win in the US tomorrow. The good guys don't always win, in the real world. The left could triumph, and you'd basically have another version of Cambodia in the 1970s.

General Franco is the greatest hero of the 20th century.

But remember, it was the then powerful Catholic Church upper classes and the army that led the fight against the Spanish communist government. A lot of the money that helped Franco came from the American and other European Catholic Churches and the Vatican which fought communism for 72 years while the intellectuals cheered communism and most of the Protestant churches in Europe and America joined the communist front World Council of Churches

I bet Jilles dykstras’ grandfather and his pseudo intellectual useful idiot leftist friends wrote letters to the editor and propagandize against Franco and the church and for the communists during the Spanish civil war.

The American army and upper classes are extremely anti White and ultra liberal. The Catholic Church is just one of many churches in America and couldn’t lead or even be influential in anything Most churches in America are either ultra left or ultra Zionist.

The upper classes want to exterminate Whites and replace us with professional Indians and Asians and Hispanic Indians for everything else.

I’m enough of an amateur historian to know that almost all and certainly the only successful revolutions are power struggles between different factions of the upper classes.

Look at our own revolution. The founders were the wealthiest people in the colonies.

It would be great if we could do what Franco did in Spain, but without one single power joining us it won’t happen.

Agree on both counts. In order for a situation like that of Spain in the 1930s to occur, the army would need to revolt against the quisling government here and now, just as it did in Spain back then. That seems kind of unlikely ... though if it did happen, all bets are off!

  8. This isn’t to say Williamson is stupid. He may be something worse. He probably knows more than he is letting on.

Kevin Williamson most likely has a high IQ. Kevin Williamson is an evil whore who writes propaganda in favor of the globalizers and plutocrats because they pay him. Kevin Williamson knows why Hillary Clinton lives in the mostly White town of Chappaqua, New York, but he won’t say it because the globalizers and plutocrats won’t pay him for propaganda anymore.

Hillary Clinton moved to the mostly White town of Chappaqua, New York, to avoid having to live cheek by jowl with Blacks and other non-Whites. Kevin Williamson would never say it that way, although if Hillary Clinton drinks enough wine, she might say it.

Kevin Williamson is just an organ grinder’s monkey who writes what the organ grinder tells him to. Whether it was the ownership group of the National Review or The Atlantic magazine, it doesn’t matter. Williamson got fired by The Atlantic. National Review will most likely rehire him.

The current owner of The Atlantic is Lorene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs. It is important to rhetorically attack the plutocrats who hire the propaganda whores for their outlets. Kevin Williamson is just an organ grinder’s monkey. The billionaire Lorene Powell Jobs is the organ grinder. Lorene Powell Jobs is attacking White Core Americans of modest means by her rabid support for open borders mass immigration. Lorene Powell Jobs is the creature with the power in this scenario, not Kevin Williamson. He is a bought and paid for propaganda rodent, and there are plenty more of his kind scurrying around the plutocrat-controlled corporate media.

Shall we punish the monkey, Kevin Williamson, and let the organ grinder Lorene Powell Jobs go?

    I say no!

If the federal funds rate is not a factor in holding the United States together, then raise the federal funds rate to 20 percent and see what happens.

The "normal" federal funds rate is 6 percent. How about the privately-controlled Federal Reserve Bank immediately raise the federal funds rate to 6 percent? The shysters who own the federal Reserve Bank sent out their former head shyster, Janet Yellen, to spread the word that 4 percent is the new "normal" federal funds rate.

Paul Volcker got the federal funds rate over 20 percent in 1981 to wipe out inflation. American patriots could quickly retake control of the government if the new Federal Reserve Bank Chairman Powell immediately put the federal funds rate at 6 percent. The asset bubbles in real estate, bonds, and stocks would implode instantaneously.

Remember, the shyster central bankers in the United States kept wage inflation in check by sending factory jobs overseas and by importing cheap labor in the form of mass immigration. The central banker shysters then used financialization to massively transfer wealth from the middle to the plutocrats.

The percentage of corporate profits going to labor has plummeted in the last few decades.

Zero Interest Rate Policy; asset purchases; money printing; dollar swaps; ballooning the balance sheet of the privately-controlled Federal Reserve Bank with worthless mortgage-backed securities; all this was done to save the greedy baby boomers. The baby boomers used mass immigration, globalization, financialization and monetary extremism to steal the future away from future generations.

The baby boomers are evil and will deserve the curses of those who come after. Except for that hirsute English guy Brimelow who loves the Hibernian gals, and some other baby boomers who told the truth.

It would be nice of the left would back off before forcing a choice between 1930s Spain and 1970s Cambodia, but good sense is not an obvious feature of leftists.

I had been a reader of NR since my high school years. My English teacher was a vocabulary stickler and recommended I read William Buckley’s columns for their rich use of English and Latinate words. It worked and I improved my vocabulary skills greatly, of course my four years of Latin were a great boost. However in 2008 when Buckley ‘s only son Christopher endorsed Obama and Biden I cancelled my subscription and have never read an edition of NR since that time. I also woke up to the Neo Con War mongering and that was the final straw. As a traditional Roman Catholic I have a healthy distrust of democracy and a distrust of the founding fathers and their Masonic anti Catholicism. James Joyce , the Irish writer, wrote that he felt the most freedom when he lived in Trieste , a backwater of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Maybe I am really an Austrian Kaiser treu.

Agree on both counts. In order for a situation like that of Spain in the 1930s to occur, the army would need to revolt against the quisling government here and now, just as it did in Spain back then. That seems kind of unlikely … though if it did happen, all bets are off!

Let's just add one to the list of those dismissed from political discussion journals for speechcrimes committed elsewhere: Philip Giraldi, of this parish.

He was dismissed from writing for the increasingly irrelevant American Conservative for expressing an opinion elsewhere that the backers and/or editors of that organ seemingly think should not be allowed to be expressed without negative consequences. Not that this attitude on the part of that publication came as much of a surprise to those of us lowly commenters who were already banned from commenting there for advocating unacceptable opinions in their comment threads.

Yep, very true, Randal. Unz Review remains a go-to publication for me after a bit more than two years since I stumbled upon it. I think the reason is that our masters enjoy such massive powers of initiative and influence upon the media and other nominally democratic institutions that articulate, reasoned dissent simply gains neither light nor oxygen—except at UR and perhaps at other publications. I’m glad there’s some pushback at news items that are too pat, too well-spun, too enabling of our masters’ agendas.

Here are two pieces by George Orwell on Burnham:

    http://www.george-orwell.org/James_Burnham_and_the_Managerial_Revolution/0.html

    http://orwell.ru/library/reviews/burnham/english/e_burnh.html

Buckley was conservative in the same way that IBM used to be conservative or General Motors. Thomas Fleming and Chronicles are conservative. Pat Buchanan pretends to be conservative sometimes, conservative like Richard Nixon.

“To call National Review the flagship organ of Conservatism Inc. is to do great damage to conservatism. Conservatism is Sam Francis…etc.”

Conservatism Inc. isn’t conservative in case you don’t quite get the irony of the label with its “Inc.” attached. Con-Inc. is the fake conservatism that has had its home in the GOP for 35+ years. The corporate version of conservatism has as much to do with true American conservatism (as expressed in the writings of the late Sam Francis), as a vegetarian Bogus Burger or a Not Dog has to do with meat.

The only thing holding the United States together is monetary extremism from the globalized Federal Reserve Bank.

No, it's the private-sector labor and capital of White men and women who show up to work on time and don't shirk or leave early, in order to pay their rent / mortgage and their kids' upkeep. They're Atlas.

World markets can distinguish this from economies that have a flimsy private sector. Those are the ones that get hyperinflation. A solid private sector makes everything else possible.

If the federal funds rate is not a factor in holding the United States together, then raise the federal funds rate to 20 percent and see what happens.

The “normal” federal funds rate is 6 percent. How about the privately-controlled Federal Reserve Bank immediately raise the federal funds rate to 6 percent? The shysters who own the federal Reserve Bank sent out their former head shyster, Janet Yellen, to spread the word that 4 percent is the new “normal” federal funds rate.

They've been punching right all in a vain attempt to make themselves more palatable to the (((left))). Now they're disrespected and despised more than ever and the left is now actively attempting to disenfranchise and destroy even the cucked right by any means necessary.

This isn’t to say Williamson is stupid. He may be something worse. He probably knows more than he is letting on.

Kevin Williamson most likely has a high IQ. Kevin Williamson is an evil whore who writes propaganda in favor of the globalizers and plutocrats because they pay him. Kevin Williamson knows why Hillary Clinton lives in the mostly White town of Chappaqua, New York, but he won't say it because the globalizers and plutocrats won't pay him for propaganda anymore.

Hillary Clinton moved to the mostly White town of Chappaqua, New York, to avoid having to live cheek by jowl with Blacks and other non-Whites. Kevin Williamson would never say it that way, although if Hillary Clinton drinks enough wine, she might say it.

Kevin Williamson is just an organ grinder's monkey who writes what the organ grinder tells him to. Whether it was the ownership group of the National Review or The Atlantic magazine, it doesn't matter. Williamson got fired by The Atlantic. National Review will most likely rehire him.

The current owner of The Atlantic is Lorene Powell Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs. It is important to rhetorically attack the plutocrats who hire the propaganda whores for their outlets. Kevin Williamson is just an organ grinder's monkey.

  32. I prefer to avoid endowing my conservatism in the spaces of any one in-particular.

Conservatism is a methodology, whose practitioners are a very small number of people. Intellectual conservatives who dash about writing this or that oft leave said methodology behinds in the name of some cause.

The great tests: Iraq and Afghanistan, taxes, immigration have demonstrated that the Republican long ago abandoned conservatism. And with ever increasing vigor men and women who claim they are conservatives are found wandering the fields of everything less.

I am not even sure the concept of prudence has crossed a mind fleetingly among the players.

I would applaud Pres Trump this. He never claimed to be a conservative as part of his ethos. That speaks to his favor. And I for one appreciate it.

A conservative may stray, but but a conservative has the integrity into admit and some sense to explicate why that makes sense or is genuine about the same.

  34. What’s necessary is a kind of right-of-center (and arguably: center/center and even labor-left-of-center) Loya Jirga.

While it is entirely understandable, the schadenfreude level on this article and the comments is dialed to 9 or 10.

Big conservatism indeed is guilty of “throw[ing] rocks for grins and then clean-up when the clueless supporters send checks to their ‘non-profit’ organizations”

… but if we engage in eating one another now the swirl will keep going down the drain.

What is happening to conservatism nationally now is the same as what happens to conservatism in any metropolis – but enabled by digital mass communications and social media and stoked by more strongly connected global markets, the same way conservatives have been driven from social acceptance in any urban metropolis, they are now being driven from social acceptance everywhere.

The result is and will be a human ecosystem that is weakened in a way that it can be consumed, and inevitably will be, from without or within.

So here is the bad news – or the good news if it is received and acted upon: conservatives need to shore each other up. It’s not enough to write articles and get your paycheck, or to write comments and sit at home.

What many seem to hope for is some war. That is unlikely – a collapse, without a war or civil war, is more likely than a war.

What needs to happen is conservatives need to recognize that no one will pay for their ecosystem and every force will remain united to atomize conservatives so they have no ecosystem of their own and are not safe in the ecosystems they are parts of – so they are cudgeled into conformity.

Conservatives need to find a unifying principle, unite, and take action to create an ecosystem.

That means some place of one’s own land and laws (i.e.: federalist autonomy). It may mean another currency. If it doesn’t mean another currency it means understanding that there is a such thing as “social capital” which can be exercised by groups, united in purpose, who lack adequate financial capital.

For a people who have been drinking deep flagons of Ayn Rand and Milton Friedman Kool-Aide for half a century, “social capital” is a stiff shot that burns all the way through the digestive tract.

It – and a self-governed land or region – is probably also the only hope.

Oh – and make the unifying principle “white” and you will receive cheers from the opposition – even funding – because they know that unifying principle will not work – so they love it, when you embrace it.

  35. Fat and ugly Kevin Williamson despises white working class deplorables. He and Hillary Clinton have that in common. They probably belong to the same coven.

” Domenech … has also attacked Donald Trump and those on the authentic American Right for pursuing ‘identity politics’ instead of ‘limited government’. ”

Identity politics are truly loathsome; a guaranteed path to civil war. However, governments and media in the U.S. and Europe have fallen into the hands of Stalinist, racist blacks and browns and their forever prostrating white liberal allies.

It seems that whites with any self-respect and adherence to Western values will have no choice but to forge their own political identity in order to survive. That is, an identity without market fundamentalism, for-profit-war, and Nazi sentimentalism.

Just a reminder of the real and increasing importance of the Unz Review, based on its mission statement, as the bounds of acceptable discourse in the establishment media are policed as tightly as ever:

"A Collection of Interesting, Important, and Controversial Perspectives Largely Excluded from the American Mainstream Media"

Still wondering when the Unz Review will be “disappeared.”

Too much unvarnished truth and ferocious challenges to the narrative in one place cannot be left standing by the Great and the Good.

I have never encountered such a publication as Unz. Review

I suspect it will last in this form as long as the owner wants it to, and is prepared to shoulder the costs and hassles of keeping it up. It seems to come under occasional attack (as this morning), but he seems plenty competent to defend it.

I guess there might come an attack in a form that's non-technical, but he likely has the legal and other resources to fight that as well.

Looking at the viewership figures here, Unz Review (Rank 31k, daily visitors 52k, pageviews 114k) has left The (rather pointless) American Conservative (Rank 41k, daily visitors 38.5k, pageviews 65.4k) in the dust, but it's still quite small by establishment standards. When it grows towards the level of National Review (Rank 6.4k, daily visitors 232k, pageviews 371k), the heat will really start to come on to the site and the owner.

The Good Guys are staging theatre to distract the psychopaths that still have power, so these elitist control freak controllers of the narrative become vulnerable to highly sophisticated strategies and tactics.
You might think, " The above doesn't make any sense, because most mainstream T.V. news, internet news, print news, and radio news; and the Social Media news keeps repeating versions of, "Be scared! Its not us who are guilty of unimaginably evil events and purposes! Believe us or you're racist, fascist, unethical, ignorant, and will have your website, account, etc. banned, deleted, and censored (But only for your own

Fat and ugly Kevin Williamson despises white working class deplorables. He and Hillary Clinton have that in common. They probably belong to the same coven.

" Domenech ... has also attacked Donald Trump and those on the authentic American Right for pursuing 'identity politics' instead of 'limited government'. "

I subscribed to The National Review from 1985 to 1994. They still published genuinely conservative writers such as Peter Brimelow and Joe Sobran and ads from the South African Board of Tourism. I let my subscription lapse when I noticed it was definitely moving left. Of course, that is much of what Conservatism Inc. is in a nutshell: the liberalism of a generation ago.

True indeed. The scam that is Con-Inc. is generation out of date . Only a Yellow Dog democrat would mistake them for conservatives.

The Atlantic was NEVER “conservative”, though back in the old (pre-1990) days they did have some articles by conservatives. Now? Fuggedaboudit! The Atlantic has hit the skids. As has NR, a magazine I haven’t read since the late 80s.

I’m just a WN wigger, obsessed with race,
    And I am mad.
I’m just a WN wigger, obsessed with race,
And it looks like I’ve been haaaaad.
I’m just a WN wigger, obsessed with race,
Smarter whites always put me back in my place,
    I’m envious and green!
    And I look……BAD!

I’m just a WN wigger, obsessed with race,
    My IQ does lag.
I’m just a WN wigger, obsessed with race,
And I want others to hold the baaaaag…
I’m just a WN wigger, obsessed with race,
I smear the jizz of other men all ova mah face,
    I’m a meany queeeen!
    And I am a….. FAG!

Organs owned by conservatism, inc., have been firing and mocking wrongthinkers on the JQ and racial and social issues for the last twenty five years or more. They've been punching right all in a vain attempt to make themselves more palatable to the (((left))). Now they're disrespected and despised more than ever and the left is now actively attempting to disenfranchise and destroy even the cucked right by any means necessary.

The truth is we are not at “peak Leftism,” and the Left won’t stop until it is forced to.

Nobody within the Republican party has the stomach for it except Paul Nehlen. Writing essays isn't going to do it. The right has to be willing to terrorize the left and use any and all means necessary to destroy them.

The right has to be willing to terrorize the left and use any and all means necessary to destroy them.

I’ve always thought the best way to “terrorize the left” is to force them to live by their own ideas. No fair hiding in Burlington or Chappaqua!

Who reads National Review? Even the college and public libraries haven’t subscribed for years. It should be renamed the National Neo Con Review.

Christopher Buckley is a humor and travel writer, the editor of ForbesLife for a number of years and for decades an employee of Forbes Media. Some years ago, I scanned the Reader's Guide indexing of his work. Over 300 published pieces between 1975 and 2010. He wrote a couple of pieces for Weekly Standard ca. 1998, but that aside the only organ of the starbaord press he ever wrote for was his father's publication. His contributions thereto consisted of humor writing, travel writing, book reviews of belles lettres, &c. His writing on public affairs is pretty much limited to speeches he wrote for George Bush - pere when he worked in the White House PR apparat 35 years ago. His father hired Richard Brookhiser in 1977 casting about for someone to whom to pass on his magazine. He did not have Christopher in mind for the role. Christopher was then 25 and getting his work in print in various outlets. Wm. F. Buckley had dozens of 1st and 2d degree relatives, but only a couple were ever on staff at NR, though others contributed occasional pieces. He was never really his father's son. If he had any political affilinities at all, it was for the pre-Reagan Republican establishment. Here are two pieces by George Orwell on Burnham:

    http://www.george-orwell.org/James_Burnham_and_the_Managerial_Revolution/0.html

    http://orwell.ru/library/reviews/burnham/english/e_burnh.html

Buckley was conservative in the same way that IBM used to be conservative or General Motors. Thomas Fleming and Chronicles are conservative. Pat Buchanan pretends to be conservative sometimes, conservative like Richard Nixon.

Fleming is indeed conservative, which is why he’s a useless, worthless old overrated idiot.

I read NR for many years yet it was only when the film adaptation of his book Thank You For Smoking came out that I learned W.F. Buckley's son was also a writer. He appears to have only a passing interest in politics.

There's no indication he's ever taken politics or religion seriously, and his silly endorsement of Obama would have gone unnoticed except that he's Wm. F. Buckley's son and James Buckley's nephew. Not sure. IIRC, his mother had a string of miscarriages as well as at least one ectopic pregnancy. He was the only child she could carry to term.

Here are two pieces by George Orwell on Burnham:

    http://orwell.ru/library/reviews/burnham/english/e_burnh.html

Buckley was conservative in the same way that IBM used to be conservative or General Motors. Thomas Fleming and Chronicles are conservative. Pat Buchanan pretends to be conservative sometimes, conservative like Richard Nixon.

I have the impression Mr. Richardson defines ‘conservative’ as ‘press agent for destructive Serb revanchists’ or perhaps ‘employee of the dregs of the White Citizens’ Council’. Enjoy meeting in convention in that linen closet.

  62. How on earth can American Conservative still be considered a conservative publication? Have you read the comment section? As many here have already noted, they police the comment section very closely, so what’s in there is exactly what they want to be in there.
It’s so far Left it literally shocks me–it makes one wonder where the hell one is…has there been a mix-up with the comment section of the local university’s newsletter? How did all these SJW professor types get in here???
I would call the American Conservative a publication for Roman Catholics, and clear evidence of just how far left that church has gone.
