I’m pleased to see that my latest article entitled American Pravda: How Hitler Saved the Allies is doing quite well, with excellent traffic and over 850 contentious comments, totaling almost 150,000 words.

Some of the commenters indicated they’d very much like to have access to hard-copy versions of the series, which are sometimes more convenient for reading lengthy pieces. Obviously, these could always be produced by merely printing out the particular articles, but since printed copies normally do not provide links, a great deal of important information would be lost.

Therefore, I’ve added a bit of software that automatically converts hypertext links into footnoted references, which are then grouped together at the end of an article. The resulting version can then be printed or converted into a PDF file, with almost no loss of useful material. This transformation is triggered by appending “?display=footnoted” to the regular URL, as in for example, http://www.unz.com/runz/american-pravda-how-hitler-saved-the-allies/?display=footnoted

Using this method, I’ve gone back and produced PDF versions of all the items in the American Pravda series, and linked those PDFs near the top of each text, making them conveniently available to interested readers.

In addition, here’s a listing of all the more significant American Pravda items, linked to the printable PDF versions, which also serves as a helpful catalog to the entire series. The total is quite substantial, running over 170,000 words, with 20,000 comments providing another 2.7 million words of debate and discussion.

On another matter, I’ve recently received some complaints about several “problematical” commenters, who regularly overwhelm our comment-threads with their personal perspectives, often spewing forth far more than their reasonable share. Therefore, I’ll probably be adding some additional software to limit them to a much more reasonable quota during any given time-period.

Thanks Ron, I’m looking forward to the book version in the future (hopefully!).

Ron, Thank you so much for sharing with readers facts and perspectives that have been recently censored (or long censored !) from American society and culture. Lots of us fear a “soft police state” crackdown in facts, viewpoints, and history that defy Ruling Class orthodoxy. It would be great to have the entire American Pravda series available as a single PDF (or as a paperback book! ) That way this collection will remain accessible to people brought up in the approaching Brave New World. Thanks also for making available so many “vanished” history books that once were Mainstream, consensus history. Those that do not remember the Past, are condemned to repeat it.

    Thanks for your kind words.

Since the PDFs aren’t locked, it’s easy for anyone to download the files and merge them together into one or more much larger PDFs. The combined total would be well over 20 MB, which is really pretty sizeable and since various people might not be interested in all of them, I decided to leave it to individuals to make the selections.

FYI auto-footnoting in the “911 Conspiracy Theories” Pravda got ahead of itself somehow, missing 35 and 37, throwing everything off by 2 after that.

I’d give a higher priority to banning misandry and racism (starting from anti-Whitism), on the part of commenters and columnists alike, but that might clash with your free speech policy.

It’s easy enough to ignore ad hominem attacks in comments, but when you have people spamming the threads with low quality replies to three or four different posters it really tanks the discusison.

It doesn’t bother you to read (as the rounding off of an exchange) a female say a thing “That’s men for you :))”, nor have columnists making the point (in the comments) that you are “just one more White person who can’t think out of his white box”?

Low-quality comments… means someone starts to rate quality — it’s likely to introduce bias, and bias does usually spiral.

“Troll” is a word always in the mouth of born thought-policers.
They are also very prone to establishing rankings of who understands more or less — those rankings featuring their selves at the top, and whatever doesn’t meet their liking around the bottom.

Thanks so much for catching that serious bug in my auto-footnoting software. I’ve now fixed it and regenerated the 9/11 PDF and about a dozen others that were similarly defective.

They’re all reloaded on the server, but once you open them, you may need to refresh your browser to download the revised versions.

Thanks for these. Previously, I have copy and pasted your articles and created sub par PDFs for my kindle. This is very much appreciated.

I cannot thank you enough for these articles in PDF formate.

I am a neurotic compulsive user of text highlighting and margin notes. PDF makes those tools available to me. And the complexity and length of your articles almost demands their use.

Also, I can’t help but wonder what mechanism of destiny brought a person such as yourself with the knowledge, skills and ideology that is so uniquely and desperately needed at this particular point in the history of Western culture.

As they use to say in Radio Days: “Keep those cards and letters com’n folks’.

  21. Hunter says:

So I found the problem with the Tokyo Rose article, your link is simply missing the “.pdf” at the end of the address. Adding it in brings you to the PDF no problem.

Not so with the “How Hitler saved the Allies” PDF. Can’t find that one.

    Hope that helps!

  22. Ron Unz says:

Also this one gives the same “We’re sorry. That page could not be found.” message:

  24. Bravo, I look forward to using these. In the past I’ve printed to pdf format to give me airliner reading. I’m too cheap to pay for airline online connectivity, and nothing sucks more than your browser refreshing to a blank page when you are offline.

I’m sure we could fall all over ourselves in gratitude for what Ron Unz has done for press freedom and historical preservation…As one commenter already observed: what good fortune brought him to this historical moment when Assange is cruelly oppressed and railroaded and anti-whistle-blower legislation percolates through other countries at a truly alarming pace?

I despise virtue-signalling toadies but this unique individual has really done a great service. Let us pray he is not pushed down the same path as Julian and the others. I worked in the media for 50 years and now am totally disgusted with its galloping mendacity and triviality.

    • Agree: freedom-cat
  26. That is so cool. It would be neat if it worked on other sites as well; maybe as an Add-on or something.

  27. Hi Ron,

The “?display=footnoted” feature is broken in the one example you provide because the sentence period (.) is included in the link and causes the feature to be ignored by browsers.

    In other words:

    “?display=footnoted” = functional
    “?display=footnoted.” = not functional

This seems to be just a one-off typo – of the few that I’ve scanned, the PDFs that you’ve created display the footnotes as desired.

Thanks for all your efforts! Your site’s content and commenting system is unparalleled. RE: The American Pravda series: “I’ve learned so much” is an understatement. Mind blown.

    All the best,

    Tom

  28. JackOH says:

Ron, thanks so much. I think your “Chinese Melamine and American Vioxx” story, which I’d stumbled upon years ago, was my gateway to Unz Review.

I probably disagree with tone and subject matter of some of American Pravda. No matter. I’m living in a Wobbly America that I’d like to see righted, and for clarity and forcefulness of thought there’s nothing else that comes close to UR.

How wobbly is wobbly? Beneath a good local newspaper article on the opioid crisis, I published a quote from Dissent magazine that noted the FDA had since the early 1990s been bankrolled, under the guise of user fees, by the Big Pharma it is purported to regulate.

Some local people, including those affected by the opioid crisis, were upset with me. I don’t know why. The only thing I can guess is that people don’t have the moral imagination to believe their government acts in questionable, or downright evil, ways for the benefit of power elites.

    Thanks again.

Print Friendly and PDF is an extension for most browsers that converts articles to PDF format for downloading and offline reading. The extension allows one to excise portions of the article one does not want and the resulting PDF is usually quite professionally rendered. Some readers here might want to give it a try.

Well, Global Warming seems a very complex scientific topic, which would take me too long to research for any valid analysis.

However, I did publish a short piece a few years ago summarizing my own considerable skepticism, and I’ve seen nothing to change my opinion:

  37. Thanks Ron. I love your series. As someone who thought he was very well read, I am amazed at how much “lost knowledge” you have uncovered. You have done a great service.

  41. Anon[331] • Disclaimer says:

    Ron,

The one analysis of Judaism that is virtually missing, across almost all formats and political sides, is the analysis of its defining apocalyptic eschatology.

From what I can tell, writers have a hard time zooming out enough to see the elephant that takes the shape of the specifics of the Jewish apocalypse and its planned aftermath. Most everything else is an ear, a tail, etc.

A piece on this theology and broadly how it ties in to the rest of what you have covered would be the most appropriate capstone in my humble opinion.

When people ask non-Jews what Jews believe, the succinct answer should not reference the minutia of the Talmud, Zohar, or Tanakh. Regardless this is the content of such an answer almost every time, when it comes at all.

Instead the most incisive answer should describe the Jewish apocalypse and its planned aftermath that is the entire point of the Torah minutia as well as Jewish history.

Until non-Jews can readily provide this more correct answer, respectfully it is my belief that we have not done our collective jobs as potential opponents of the desired ultimate outcomes of the Jewish religion.

Of course I do not mean to suggest that you are saddled with this responsibility. I only mean to suggest the topic and provide my reasoning for the suggestion. Thanks for reading.

  42. Ron, I find your essays both shocking and thought provoking. You provide an alternative to both establishment historians and the legacy media. This contribution to both history and journalism are greatly appreciated by this reader. Thank You.
