* James Thompson: Men 4 Points Ahead?

Latest issue of Mankind Quarterly entirely devoted to male/female differences in IQ.

* I contributed some radical policy suggestions to Hank Pellissier’s new Transhumanist Party.

* Greg Cochran: Biopolitics

I have said before that no currently popular ideology acknowledges well-established results of behavioral genetics, quantitative genetics, or psychometrics. Or evolutionary psychology.

What if some ideology or political tradition did? what could they do? What problems could they solve, what capabilities would they have?

* On that topic, should you wait to have children for embryo selection for intelligence to come online? Gwern has what is probably the most comprehensive analysis.

* Emil Kirkegaard unearths William Shockley’s 1980 interview with Playboy.

* Slate Star Codex demographics by their results on trust (lower numbers = think people can be trusted):

Social democratic: 2.38
Liberal: 2.40
Libertarian: 2.48
Conservative: 2.67
Communist: 2.80
Neoreactionary: 2.97
Alt-right: 2.97

* John G. Sotos – 2007 – Biotechnology and the lifetime of technical civilizations (h/t JL)

The number of people able to end Earth’s technical civilization has heretofore been small. Emerging dual-use technologies, such as biotechnology, may give similar power to thousands or millions of individuals… Using empiric data from Pubmed to inform the biotechnology parameter, the model predicts human civilization’s median survival time as decades to centuries, even with optimistic psychosociological parameter values, thereby positioning biotechnology as a proximate threat to human civilization. For an ensemble of civilizations having some median calculated survival time, the model predicts that, after 80 times that duration, only one in 10^24 civilizations will survive — a tempo and degree of winnowing compatible with Hanson’s “Great Filter.” Thus, assuming that civilizations universally develop advanced biotechnology, before they become vigorous interstellar colonizers, the model provides a resolution to the Fermi paradox.

* Alexander Mercouris: 7 points which expose Western governments’ hypocrisy on the issue of Catalan independence

* Zeit has a dense, infographics-heavy breakdown of the German elections.

The most critical and reliably depressing graph:

poorly-educated-vote-afd

But apparently lots of Alt Righters don’t see that as a problem, at least according to the replies to my Twitter post about this, which I suppose demonstrates the point.

Incidentally, according to other sources, around 40% of German journalists vote for the Green. The liberal slant of the media seems to be common to the entirety of Euro-America.

Russia

russia-inflation-history

* Russian inflation is down to 2.8%. This is an all time post-Soviet minimum.

* Leonid Bershidsky: Putin Wants to Run Russia Like a Corporation

Although Bershidsky is inevitably pessimistic, it has to be said that there have been major improvements since the 2000s, when the government was indeed heavily riddled with (political-economic) “clans.” Since Putin’s re-election in 2012, the numbers of high-level government figures that could be identified as belonging to a distinct clan fell into a minority, and this appears to be a genuine further step in the direction of technocracy.

* Timothy Frye: Russian Studies is Thriving, not Dying

* Paul Robinson: Russia fails to remember Stalin’s victims [... not].

I dislike the Stalin cult as much as anyone, but it is simple factually incorrect to argue that it is sustained by state propaganda.

* Paul Robinson also took some time to dissect Terrell Starr’s drivel.

* For Russian readers: Interview with Benes Ayo, a Black National-Bolshevik fighting for the DNR in Donbass.

* Powerful take. Also I wish the NRA would “destroy” Russia more just as I wish to live in Starr’s Putlerreich.

* Joseph Bernstein: Here’s How Breitbart And Milo Smuggled Nazi and White Nationalist Ideas Into The Mainstream

Some interesting stuff, even if it does come from Buzzfeed. For instance, Steve Bannon comes off as an… enthusiastic fellow:

That afternoon, Bannon emailed Yiannopoulos and Marlow.
“Dude—we r in a global existentialist war where our enemy EXISTS in social media and u r jerking yourself off w/ marginalia!!!! U should be OWNING this conversation because u r everything they hate!!! Drop your toys, pick up your tools and go help save western civilization.”

That Milo is more Röhm than he let’s on wasn’t a huge surprise to me. An acquaintance with much closer connections to the “scene” told me about this within the past year, but it’s interesting to see it confirmed nonetheless.

Nor could they have known about the night of April 2, 2016, which Yiannopoulos spent at the One Nostalgia Tavern in Dallas, belting out a karaoke rendition of “America the Beautiful” in front of a crowd of “sieg heil”-ing admirers, including Richard Spencer. …

In an April 6 email, Allum Bokhari mentioned having had access to an account of Yiannopoulos’s with “a password that began with the word Kristall.” … In a June 2016 email to an assistant, Yiannopoulos shared the password to his email, which began “LongKnives1290.” … 1290 is the year King Edward I expelled the Jews from England.

And also Peter Thiel is “fully enlightened.”

Yiannopoulos also had a private relationship with the venture capitalist Peter Thiel, though he was more circumspect than some other correspondents… But much of Yiannopoulos’s knowledge of Thiel seemed to come secondhand from other right-wing activists, as well as Curtis Yarvin, the blogger who advocates the return of feudalism. In an email exchange shortly after the election, Yarvin told Yiannopoulos that he had been “coaching Thiel.”
“Peter needs guidance on politics for sure,” Yiannopoulos responded.
“Less than you might think!” Yarvin wrote back. “I watched the election at his house, I think my hangover lasted into Tuesday. He’s fully enlightened, just plays it very carefully.”

* Bannon reportedly said that he thinks there is only a 30% chance of Trump finishing out his term.

* Radical commies are infiltrating the US military.

Free Speech

* Philip Giraldi: How I Got Fired: Exposing Jewish power in America has real consequences

* Lawrence G. Proulx: Living Under the French Hate Speech Laws

Incidentally, for anyone interested in the Jewish angle in French hate speech legislation, I also recommend Guillaume Durocher‘s 2015-16 archives from The Occidental Observer.

* Jim McLaughlin and Rob Schmidt: National Undergraduate Study

* Atlantic: America’s Many Divides Over Free Speech

* Admin of /r/hapas: 2017 full list of Neo-Nazis, alt-rights, conservatives, white supremacists who fetish / marry / date Asian women

Clearly obssessed with the topic and overdoes the theme, but still, there’s a distinct pattern out there. Very curious.

History

* @Evolving_Moloch thread on the anti-poor characteristics of medieval warfare:

* Timo Hännikäinen: The Untold Victors: The Spanish Civil War as History Not Propaganda

Franco placed much greater reliance on the Moroccan soldiers who formed by far the largest number of volunteers, a total of about 78,000 men… The Nationalists appealed to the Moroccans by implying that their country would be granted independence after the Republican government was overthrown, but there was little intention of keeping such promises. The Moroccans swallowed the bait and enlisted in large numbers to Franco’s army… The Moroccans played a vita role in the initial phase of the war: the Nationalists would have been unable to continue their attack in Spain without Moroccans troops flown over from the protectorate. The motives of the volunteers were manifold… Moroccan troops, “los moros,” quickly got a bad reputation. It was said that they systematically raped Republican women and tortured prisoners of war…

Republican propaganda made the most of the real and imaginary atrocities of “the Moors.” In propaganda posters Moroccans were depicted as grinning, thick-lipped turbanheads, who harassed white women and pierced children with their bayonets. Republican journalists and authors wrote of “brutal Africans with knives in their teeth,” and accused Franco of bringing “African savages to a European civil war.” The Left of the 1930’s clearly didn’t embrace the current type of political correctness.

Your picture doesn't actually have any Nordic looking people. They have the soft, rounded Slavic/Finnic faces that were no good for old school Nordicists who wanted sharp, angular Germanic jawlines. North Russians and Finnic people are very pale but not Nordic looking by facial features.

Nazis didn't view us much better than Asians for intermarriage. They spent a lot of time recruiting ethnic Swedes and Germans here but did not take ethnic Finns or Russians in their organizations and we could not marry Germans without a special permit. We did some skull measuring during our occupation of Petrozavodsk and found local Finnic people very blonde but round featured so good enough for Greater Finland but not good enough for Greater Germany.

Of course most of these people are not actually neo-Nazis and even if they're neo-Nazis they're probably too ignorant of their ideology to actually realize that they're not supposed to get round faced brides. There is a danger though that the Slav bride might lead them to Russian alt-writings and they'll turn into one of those alt-people who read Alexander Dugin as their intellectual hero.

This is indeed a problem, and I don’t believe I need to explain why given the subject of Apollo’s Ascent.

But it’s not an insurmountable problem.

Our enemies may be intelligent and numerous, but owing to their wicked heresy they largely castrate themselves. And while they are intelligent, they are very poorly educated–as one would expect from embracing a religion based on the denial of reality. I recently had an exchange with a popular investment blogger with a graduate degree from an Ivy League university. It turned out the man did not know what a logical fallacy was.

tldr our enemies are worms. We will bury them.

They can still be considered Nordic as they are from the North, it is more correct to say they are not Aryan looking since Finns are not directly descended from the Indo Europeans (i.e. Aryans). Which also explains why Finns cannot exactly be recruited into the SS as the Aryan ideal if they are not even Aryan.

possibly significant cos if they were sucked out of the general population and disproportionately killed while their reproduction was limited (lots of sex but not sticking around to look after the resulting kids) then it might have been a factor in the pacification of Europe.

(by contrast in the Congo the women provide for the kids anyway so rape would work as a reproductive strategy and the horrors could continue to get worse every generation)

apparently lots of Alt Righters don’t see that as a problem

it is a problem but an inevitable one given how this attack is being engineered – which is by creating extreme levels of sexual violence in minority white schools so white reproduction is targeted at the weakest point: girls old enough to have children but too young to protect themselves without adult help. this attack as been engineered to work from the bottom up economically (so unskilled manual first then skilled manual etc) so the higher IQ part of the target population are unaware their ethnci group is even under attack (cos the media hide what is happening).

i have this in my own extended family where one half have been through multiple street gang ethnic cleansings while the others trust the media and as a result are completely unaware this is happening and believe anyone who tells them different is making it up.

there’s not a lot can be done about this. the more educated part of the white population will eventually be targeted as well (i’d say it’s already started in the US but mostly not yet in Europe) and it may be too late by then or it may not. time will tell.

Wikipedia and google images can be your friend if you want to learn this stuff. You can learn the difference between "Nordic" and "East Baltic" types (but be warned, you'll come across some rather disgusting Nazi stuff along the way).

Typical Nordic face (not even blond):

Nordic features not "show up" but prevails in some enclaves (according to Cheboksarov).

In the rest of Russia the people with elongated, sharp faces make up quite a significant part of the population. And it is (according to genetic studies) is not due to the descendants of the Vikings: the peculiarity of the Northern Russian gene pool, unlike the gene pool of the rest of the Russian population, due to the existence of Mesolithic Nordic Plast, which unites the Nordic Nations, and has roots times Swider/Kund/Ahrensburg cultures.

Invaluable information for “white supremacists”/s :

"In the USSR, Nordic features are clearly seen for the Northern Karelians, among Russians in the Arkhangelsk region and the city of Kem, among Mordovians-Erza of Lukoyanovskiy district, Gorky region, among the Russian in lower reaches of the river Vetluga, as well as among the Russians living in Sunansk district of the Yaroslavl region. Studies conducted in 1938-1940, showed that the Nordic element also prevails among the Russian of Novgorod district and in the region of Novgorod colonization near Northern Dvina river and Vahe river (Holmogory, Shenkursk), and also among the Komi Udora district and Pechora district of Komi ASSR."

So, Nordic features show up in some small enclaves, with a history of Varangian settlement such as Novgorod - rare in Russia.

Wikipedia and google images can be your friend if you want to learn this stuff. You can learn the difference between "Nordic" and "East Baltic" types (but be warned, you'll come across some rather disgusting Nazi stuff along the way).

Typical Nordic face (not even blond):

Oval-shaped, long narrow nose, long forehead, sharp features, chin.

    Typical "East Baltic" face:

  16. Regarding ‘self-determination for some and miniature Union flags for others’, the line that I’ve heard argued is that the right to self-determination is reserved for ‘oppressed’ and ‘colonial’ situations, and if the ethnic group is integrated into a liberal democracy then they have self-determination within that nation. IIRC, that’s how the Supreme Court of Canada ruled.

Honestly, the principles don’t really matter. As I’ve said before, the success of secession movements depending on the political and military factors rather legal or philosophical principles. Why did, say, the USA, the post WW1 states of Central Europe or the Union Republics of USSR succeed whereas the CSA, Biafra or Chechnya (eventually) failed? Not because of any legal arguments and philosophical discussions, but because the former had enough military power and support from foreign powers to force the parent country to cry uncle and give up any attempts to regain control. The latter didn’t and thus eventually they weren’t. Furthermore, those foreign powers didn’t support the separatists because they liked separatists, but because it was in their (perceived) self-interests.

One last note about the Catalans, this Tweet summarizes everything you need to know about the Catalan separatists and their chances for success. Especially when contrasted with this image.

Man on left and two on right have very Scandinavian looks. That's the kind of thing that the racial classifiers have tried to capture with their labels but of course it doesn't work that well.

Pictures of women are pretty bad for these discussions because women don't like to be photographed without tons of make up on them which makes women of all ethnicities look more similar to each other than they naturally would.

I don't know what's with using Swedes as a standard for Nordic, they're especially bad for the purpose when the point is to compare to Eastern European since Sweden once had an empire in the east and they absorbed a bunch of easterners (mostly Finns)). They've had waves of migrants from Finland and ex-Yugoslavia in recent generations so any picture of a Swedish sports team might well have a bunch of people with at least partial Finnish or South Slavic ancestry.

This is indeed a problem, and I don't believe I need to explain why given the subject of Apollo's Ascent.

But it's not an insurmountable problem.

Our enemies may be intelligent and numerous, but owing to their wicked heresy they largely castrate themselves. And while they are intelligent, they are very poorly educated--as one would expect from embracing a religion based on the denial of reality. I recently had an exchange with a popular investment blogger with a graduate degree from an Ivy League university. It turned out the man did not know what a logical fallacy was.

tldr our enemies are worms. We will bury them.

The effect is accentuated by the fact more young than old have gone to university, so that needs to be taken into account. That said lefty propaganda in university is something I regard as a very serious issue.

My studies of Russian never got much further than the alphabet so I can't comment on the specifics of this article, but if the abstract is a good representation, their findings don't refute what they claim to refute, not at all.

Genetic closeness is not the same thing as descent. You can be genetically closest to Swedes while having 0 % Swedish ancestry. You can be genetically more distant from Finns than other European peoples while still having significant Finnic ancestry. In fact, if you took, say, 80 % Ukrainians and mixed them with 20 % Finns, the population would be closer to Swedes than to Finns in most genetic distance measures.

The big thing about Finns and other Finno-Ugrians is that we have a significant East Asian component that is not shared with other Europeans *except* to some extent northern Scandinavianss and Russians who presumably have picked up their Mongoloid genes from Finnic admixture. This means that Finns are the most distant population from ALL other European peoples and in various measures of genetic distance you can often see everyone from Greeks, Englishmen, Poles, Frenchmen, Bulgarians, all of Europe closer to each other than to Finns who are the most distant from everyone.

(The same is true for other Finno-Ugric peoples like Mordvins who are over 90 % European but still have an East Asian component.)

Finding out that Russians are more distant from Finns than from other European peoples is not a significant result and does not disprove Finnic admixture at all. It is the expected result as long as Russians are mostly of non-Finno-Ugric European descent; the only way for Russians to be closest to Finns would be for them to be more Finnic than Slavic (and even then it's not guaranteed because Finnic peoples are very diverse and we can't be sure that Chudes, Muromians and other now russified Finno-Ugrians were actually even close to Finns to begin with).

Now, on the topic of Swedes, there we have another population with some Finno-Ugric admixture. In these genetic charts you typically see a very tight Germanic cluster made up of Denmark, Norway, northern Germany and southern Sweden but Swedes outside of the southern tip diverges significantly towards Finns, not surprisingly given that that Swedes assimilated lots of Finns and some Saamis over the past millennium. Assuming you have some oblast where the population is mostly Slavic in descent but with a significant absorbed Finnic population, it would be *expected* to match Swedes better than Finns.

Core Slavs (Poles, Ukrainians etc) and core Germanics (Danes, north Germans, south Swedes etc) are much closer to each other than they are to Finns or other Finno-Ugric populations so if you assume that north Russians are made up of core Slavs with added Finnic admixture they're completely expected to be genetically similar to any population made up of core Germanic people with Finnic admixture - like Swedes outside of their south.

In any case, anyone claiming to disprove Finno-Ugric admixture in northern Russia has the problem of the Mongoloid component and they have to provide an alternative explanation because it sure didn't come from Varangians or Mesolithic Europeans. Signatures like hapologroup N1c (clearly of East Asian origin) match Finno-Ugric and Turkic peoples but not Mongols; the geographic distribution is a perfect match for formerly Finno-Ugric areas already identified by linguists before genetics even existed and it's a very bad match for steppe peoples who didn't show up much in Vologda, Karelia, Arkhangelsk etc.

Weird that the girls on the American team are so much prettier than the girls from the Swedish and Russian teams, even though there is no question Swedish and Russian women are generally hotter than American women.
    , @Anonymous
Except for the two upper left players, the Swedish men players all look Scandinavian/Germanic/Northwestern European. While the Russian players look Eastern European except for number 9 and maybe 23.

I don't know what "Baltid" is supposed to mean, but there's definitely a difference in facial and head shape between Western and Eastern Europe that's noticeable.

Out of curiosity I looked the faces of the Scandinavians.

This Swedish students (a typical photo, only without migrants!)

Students at the University of Arkhangelsk

If I were nordid-girl-fetishist (Oval-shaped, long narrow nose, long forehead, sharp features, chin), I would go to Arkhangelsk instead of Sweden. Maybe I do not understand nordid/baltid stuff correctly?

Man on left and two on right have very Scandinavian looks. That’s the kind of thing that the racial classifiers have tried to capture with their labels but of course it doesn’t work that well.

Pictures of women are pretty bad for these discussions because women don’t like to be photographed without tons of make up on them which makes women of all ethnicities look more similar to each other than they naturally would.

I don’t know what’s with using Swedes as a standard for Nordic, they’re especially bad for the purpose when the point is to compare to Eastern European since Sweden once had an empire in the east and they absorbed a bunch of easterners (mostly Finns)). They’ve had waves of migrants from Finland and ex-Yugoslavia in recent generations so any picture of a Swedish sports team might well have a bunch of people with at least partial Finnish or South Slavic ancestry.

Typical Nordic face (not even blond):

    https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--cwvI_TJvdA/WQsMs9okS9I/AAAAAAAAAS0/K8Pv9AX_aeAXmH-6Bymimg_5nBfB6CaLACLcB/s1600/1.jpg

Oval-shaped, long narrow nose, long forehead, sharp features, chin.

    Typical "East Baltic" face:

    http://i.imgur.com/FTj9F.jpg

Round wide face, low forehead, small chin, etc.

Some Russian website has sketches contrasting the two types:

    http://darkdiary.ru/photo2/79019/0ee2a393933fab792c201404c55af4ff.jpg

Is the cited “typical east Baltic” (I don’t believe most people in the Baltics really look remotely close to that) evidence of Turkic/Finnic admixture? Doesn’t look European at all.

The one on the right, team captain Margaretha “Maggan” Sigfridsson, is from Sundsfall, a northeastern region. All of the others are from the northern parts of Sweden also, except the one on the far left, who is from Stockholm ( don't feel like looking for her parents). Curling must be popular in sparsely populated northern Sweden. Remember that northern Sweden, like northern Russia, had a lot of Finnic settlement so this would be completely expected.

First two are from Moscow, not Northern Russia. Muscovites come from everywhere, many aren't even of Russian descent. The hockey player might have southern Russian or Ukrainian ancestry. Genetic researchers prefer to look at villagers. I said I was finished with this topic, but here I am.

Russian women's curling team has 1/4 seemingly Nordic type.

I suppose that some people just can't see subtle differences between peoples. You probably can't tell if someone is Jewish, can you?

Your other post is a mixed bag. Of course if you search on the internet you can eventually find some examples of Russians with Nordic features. As we discussed, such features are prevalent in regions with perhaps 3% of the Russian population. There are scattered descendants of Volga Germans or Baltic Germans, or Varangians. You can easily find some examples of people even rarer than Nordics in Russia - Africans - but it doesn't mean that Africans are common in Russia.

You would do better to find random cross-sections of people. When you do that you find mostly Finnic "East Baltic" types in the north; further south Russians look a lot like Ukrainians. Googleimage "people of Yaroslavl" or "people of Vologda" and the results look like Finns, not Scandinavians. Googleimage "people of Saratov" and the result are people who look like Ukrainians.

Of course, there are anthropological differences, but they not very large, and are irrelevant to your cartoons .

Genetic studies show a lot of Finnic (haplogroup N) among northern Russians, not Scandinavian.....

Балановская Е. В. и др. Генофонд Русского Севера: Славяне? Финны? Палеоевропейцы //Вестник Московского университета. Серия XXIII посвящается. – 2011.
(Balanovskaya E. V. and etc. the Gene pool of the Russian North: the Slavs? The Finns? Paleoeuropean //Bulletin of Moscow University. Series XXIII – 2011.)
    https://elibrary.ru/item.asp?id=17282961

    A brief conclusion:
Genetically closest to the Russian North were the Norwegians and the Germans....the bulk of Finnish – speaking populations, Finns, Karelians, Komi, Mari and Mordvinians – are the most distant genetically from the Russian North. It refutes the previously estimated as very important contribution of Finno-Ugric in the formation of the population of the Russian North.

don’t understand why it’s important for you

it’s not important for me (the question is of purely academic ). I just train in English because I have free time

Except for the two upper left players, the Swedish men players all look Scandinavian/Germanic/Northwestern European. While the Russian players look Eastern European except for number 9 and maybe 23.

I don’t know what “Baltid” is supposed to mean, but there’s definitely a difference in facial and head shape between Western and Eastern Europe that’s noticeable.

Typical Nordic face (not even blond):

    https://4.bp.blogspot.com/--cwvI_TJvdA/WQsMs9okS9I/AAAAAAAAAS0/K8Pv9AX_aeAXmH-6Bymimg_5nBfB6CaLACLcB/s1600/1.jpg

Oval-shaped, long narrow nose, long forehead, sharp features, chin.

    Typical "East Baltic" face:

    http://i.imgur.com/FTj9F.jpg

Round wide face, low forehead, small chin, etc.

Some Russian website has sketches contrasting the two types:

    http://darkdiary.ru/photo2/79019/0ee2a393933fab792c201404c55af4ff.jpg

The “East Baltic” / russian girls seem a lot prettier to me.

Weird angle makes her face not completely visible. Face looks round from the bottom, nose sticks out, looks more Polish/Lithuanian than anything, but could be Finnic.

Anyways, as I wrote, anyone can find exceptional cases. You can even find Africans in Russia. But show a random group and it becomes more obvious.

You probably can’t tell if someone is Jewish, can you?

    The fun continues.
Game "find the Jews!" Who is in the pictures below - the Jews?

    Okay, let me play.

First guy has distinct Jew nose. Second guy looks Georgian as fuck. Third is a really strange case – looks somewhat Slavic but darker, and with a narrow nose; but she doesn’t look like any of the Caucasians either; I assume a metis, but have no idea from which group. Fourth also seems Slavic but with some Finno-Ugric admixture, can’t see any Jewish signs.

So Indians + Russians = Georgians (for men anyway). Good to know.

How many levels of admixture is Emilia Spivak on? I guess she's 1/4 Jew at most.

EDIT: Okay, looks like Jewish father + Russian mother. The father, Semen Svipak, looks much more Jewish but with some Slavic features. He has an obvious Jewish father (Yakov) but I'm guessing a Slavic mother.

Slavs are not considered Aryans, nor are Indians because the original Indo European settlers into India ended up mixing with the native people.

I will tell this girl what you think about her, it'll be fun for her (all three shots missed the target).

Anyone can find exceptional cases, you are completely right. But the girl from the photo, has a very common morphological type (for her nationality), she is not exceptional cases (although her beauty is above average). But as you can see, accurately determine the nationality by morphological type impossible.

She looks like Richard Spencer’s wife, Nina Kouprianova.

LOL! In his dreams maybe. Nazi boy Spencer could never pull a girl that looks as good as Anfisa.

What is this type anyway, that you see among Russians?

Hyper materialistic/ridiculous gold diggers, always showing off their bodies, tons of makeup and batshit fucking insane. When I go to the beach there are tons of Russian girls staffing the boardwalk and the miniature golf courses. Most aren't like Anfisa, but some are.

If you want a mail order bride, get yourself a pliant Asian woman. Russian gold diggers are even worse than American gold diggers. At least American gold diggers are sane.

I mean physical type, not personality. You can see pictures of Kouprianova here:

    https://twitter.com/NinaByzantina

I didn’t say that Kouprianova resembles Anfisa in attractiveness. I mean that they resemble each other in physical type. It’s a type that you see among some Russians or at least some with Russian nationality. I don’t know if it’s an actual ethnic Russian or Slavic phenotype or something else. It’s different from the Finnic or Baltid type.

All of her grandparents were Russian. On the maternal side her ancestors were Polish (or Polonized "Belarusians"). So she is 1/16 or 1/32 of Polish blood. I doubt that the one drop rule applies to the poles.

You'd be surprised how, in some individuals, appearance is preserved. I am a twin of my great-grandfather, judging by old photos. Maybe your friend looks like her half-Polish grandmother or her great-grandmother. It isn't a coincidence that she looks and was identified as Polish, even though Polish was not an option you gave, and she happens to be of Polish descent.
